This study presents a feasible, one-pot synthesis approach for the preparation of a composite biopolymer material derived from tamarind seed xyloglucan (XG) by utilizing isocyanate chemistry. Through a facile reaction process, urethane bonds are formed in XG, resulting in the formation of a crosslinked network. FTIR spectra confirm the successful urethane link formation in XG via the OH-NCO reaction, and CHN analysis provides insights into the elemental composition. The synthesized XG-urethane composite (U-XG) exhibits enhanced thermal stability compared to native XG, with an enhanced degradation temperature (T 5% ) of 276°C (XG marked T 5% at a lower temperature of 163°C). The optimized geometric structure, hydrogen bond types, and hydrogen bond strength of the synthesized U-XG are computationally studied by density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level. This study also investigates the antibacterial efficacy of both XG and U-XG against a panel of pathogenic bacteria, including gram-positive bacteria such as S. aureus and S. epidermidis, as well as gram-negative E. coli. The U-XG demonstrates superior antibacterial activity against S. epidermidis compared to pristine XG. In recent years, biopolymer-based food packaging films have emerged as promising alternatives to petroleum-based plastic food packaging films. Various additives have been explored to enhance their properties, and one such group of additives is natural plant aldehydes. These aldehydes are commonly employed to improve the antibacterial and antioxidant properties of biopolymer-based food packaging films. However, their potential role as cross-linking agents is often overlooked in these applications. This work introduces the properties of commonly used natural plant aldehydes in biopolymer-based food packaging films. Specifically, it summarizes the effects of natural plant aldehydes such as cinnamaldehyde, vanillin, and others on the properties of biopolymer-based food packaging films. Furthermore, the application of biopolymer-based food packaging films functionalized with natural plant aldehydes in food preservation is discussed. This work concludes that various natural plant aldehydes serve as effective antimicrobial agents and antioxidants. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents a substantial threat to global public health, complicating the treatment of common infections and leading to prolonged illness and escalated healthcare expenses. To effectively combat AMR, timely and accurate detection is crucial for AMR surveillance and individual-based therapy. Phenotypic antibiotic resistance testing (AST) has long been considered the gold standard in clinical applications, serving as the foundation for clinical AMR diagnosis and optimized therapy. It has significantly contributed to ensuring patients' health and the development of novel antimicrobials. Despite advancements in automated culture-based AST technologies, inherent limitations impede the widespread use of phenotypic AST in AMR surveillance. Genotypic AST technologies offer a promising alternative option, exhibiting advantages of rapidity, high sensitivity, and specificity. With the continuous advancement and expanding applications of genotypic AST technologies, such as microfluidics, mass spectrometry, and high-resolution melting curve analysis, new vigor has been injected into the development and clinical implementation of genotypic AST technologies. In this narrative review, we discuss the principles, applications, and advancements of emerging genotypic AST methods in clinical settings. Akkermansia muciniphila, a member of the Verrucomicrobiota phylum, is recognized as a key gut microbe and has emerged as a potential next-generation probiotic. Assessment of antibiotic resistance in probiotics is a prerequisite for their application, while very few is studied in Akkermansia species. To address this, eight representative class A β-lactamases (36.90 %-41.30 % identity with known β-lactamases) from the Akkermansia species were screened and found to increase the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Escherichia coli to β-lactams (2-1024 fold). Secondly, four β-lactamases were successfully purified and identified as extended-spectrum β-lactamase because they exhibited hydrolase activity against β-lactams from penicillin, cephalosporins, and monobactam classes. Based on predicted three-dimensional structure, we hypothesized and validated that serine at 51 position was catalytic amino acid. Thirdly, the genomic context analysis revealed the absence of mobile genetic elements or other antibiotic resistance genes surrounding β-lactamase genes, suggesting they may not be transferable. Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a critical foodborne pathogen causing gastroenteritis worldwide. The occurrence of transmission and outbreaks attributed to V. parahaemolyticus has exhibited a notable upward trend during the past two decades. However, comprehensive information on this pathogen in inland cities in China remains scarce. This study shed light on the molecular characteristics, genetic associations, and significant transmission risks through foodborne and fecal-oral routes of 115 V. parahaemolyticus strains obtained from nine inland cities in Jilin Province. Strains were divided into 90 sequence types (STs), with 41 STs that were novel. The predominant sequence type was ST3 (14.78 %, 17/115). The strains exhibited the highest resistance rates to cefazolin and ampicillin. A total of ninety-four antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) categorized groups based on antibiotic class were identified. The tet(34) (112/115, 97.39 %) and bla CARB (114/115, 99.13 %) genes responsible for tetracycline and β-lactams resistance were present in most isolates. Interestingly, V. parahaemolyticus with the tet(34) gene may not be resistant to tetracycline. Strains with strong biofilm formation ability carry more resistance genes. Atypical virulence genes and virulence genome islands (VPaI) were also identified in the isolated strains. All strains encoded type III secretion system 1 (T3SS1), while 114 isolates encoded type VI secretion system 2 (T6SS2). Notably, T6SS1 was present in 59.55 % of food strains, and pathogenicity genomic islands VPaI-1 to VPaI-5 were found in food-associated isolates. Based on the results of the phylogenetic analysis, clinical strains were closely related within a single cluster, which refers to strains that are more similar to each other than to those outside the group based on specific genetic profiles, while the food isolates were highly diverse. Furthermore, some isolates included in our study indicated potential transmission possibly through sharing of some SNPs between food and clinical-positive V. parahaemolyticus strains from different countries. Clostridioides difficile is one of the leading causes of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. In this study, we characterized 76C. difficile isolates, obtained from three Mediterranean mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) farms in Slovenia from November 2014 to October 2015 (sampling period 1) and from January to December 2021 (sampling period 2). The overall isolation rate of C. difficile from all the examined mussels was 59.8 %. A statistically significant trend of seasonal variation was observed, with a higher isolation rate in the colder months of the year (87.9 %; sea temperature ≤ 15 °C) compared with the warmer months (31.8 %; sea temperature > 15 °C). Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) revealed that the isolates belonged to 31 different sequence types (STs), which were associated with three clades (1, 4, and 5) and two cryptic clades (C-II and C-III). Five isolates, which belonged to ST11 (clade 5), harbored all the main toxin genes (A + B + CDT + ) and chromosomal mutations conferring fluoroquinolone resistance. Core genome multilocus sequence typing (cgMLST) revealed four clusters of 2-3 isolates, three of which included isolates from different farms, suggesting that clonal C. difficile strains are circulating among the Slovenian mussel farms. The emergence of RND efflux pump gene cluster tmexCD-toprJ threats the clinical use of tigecycline as a last-resort antibiotic. Co-existence of extended spectrum β-lactamases and tmexCD-toprJ can accelerate the emergence of multidrug resistant or extensively drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, leading to the production of high-risk clones. This study identified a novel gene cluster, tmexC6D6.2-toprJ1b, on the chromosome of a high-risk ST233 XDR P. aeruginosa from Chinese retail chicken samples. Genetic feature analysis revealed that a tnfxB6-tmexC6D6.2-toprJ1b-strBA-floR-tet(G)-IS6100-sul1-aadA2-int1-intA structure formed a putative transposition unit. tmexC6D6.2-toprJ1b shared high similarity at the nucleotide level with other tmexCD-toprJ gene clusters. tnfxB6 regulator was located downstream from the tmexC6D6.2-toprJ1b gene cluster and it did not affect bacterial resistance phenotype. The expression of tmexC6D6.2-toprJ1b could reduce the growth of E. coli and bring a moderate fitness cost. Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The increasing evolution of pathogen resistance is a global problem that requires novel solutions. Recently, an increased interest in ethnomedicinal sources can be observed in the derivation of new medicines. The return to traditional medicinal formulations handed down for generations is being followed, but it is necessary to revise them again, taking into account the generally accepted research protocol., Aim of the Study: We aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial potential of historical deposits of Silesian healing clay (SHC), used in ethnomedicine against Gram-positive bacteria and to assess their biological activity using a primary dermal fibroblast line (NHDF) and a model monocyte line (THP1)., Materials and Methods: Information on medicinal clay deposits that occur in Silesia and are traditionally used in ethnomedicine or ancient medicine and known as terra sigillata Silesiaca or SHC, was selected on available source materials and old prints and maps from the archives of the Polish Geological Institute (Wrocław, Poland). Subsequently, their places of occurrence were identified and traced in the field by taking three deposits from the Silesia territory: Upper Silesia (D1), Opole Silesia (D2), and Lower Silesian (D3) Voivodeships for analysis. Their basic parameters and antimicrobial efficacy against pathogenic bacteria, Gram-positive streptococci and staphylococci, including methicillin-resistant strains, were examined. The study evaluated the effects of clays on growth and vitality using a primary dermal fibroblast line (NHDF) and a monocytic line (THP1). Studies were performed on a cell culture model to determine the effects on tissue regeneration (fibroblasts) and anti-inflammatory effects (monocytes). The study attempted to identify the mechanism of antimicrobial action, especially the textural characteristics and geochemical composition, as well as the environmental reaction (pH)., Results: SHCs were classified into the following textural classes: clay loam (D1), clay (D2), and sand (D3). The tested deposits have antimicrobial properties that reduce the bacterial population (10 4  CFU) compared to the control (10 8  CFU). The antimicrobial effect depends on the type of clay and the species or strain of bacteria used. In-house studies clearly showed that Staphylococcus aureus Pcm 2054 and Staphylococcus epidermidis MRSE ATCC 2538 cells were completely adsorbed by clay minerals from clay D3.13. Furthermore, 10% leachates also showed an antimicrobial effect, as a reduction in bacterial populations was observed ranging from 91 to 100%. The results showed stimulation of fibroblast culture proliferation and inhibition of the growth of inflammatory cells (monocytes)., Conclusion: SHCs tested have antimicrobial potential, in particular D2.7, D2.11, and D3.13. The D3.13 deposit had a bactericidal effect against the staphylococci tested. Aqueous solutions of clays also showed bacteriostatic effect. Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a rich history spanning 2000 years. Shuanghuanglian, a traditional Chinese herbal formula composed of three botanicals, is primarily used to treat colds, respiratory infections (including bacterial pneumonia), and pharyngitis. Previous research has found that the volatile oil of Shuanghuanglian is crucial for its efficacy. However, there is a lack of studies investigating its mechanisms., Aim of the Study: This study aims to explore the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of Shuanghuanglian volatile oil and its potential to enhance the antibacterial effects when used in conjunction with antibiotics., Methods: Determination of the GC-MS fingerprint of SVO using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), The antibacterial effects of SVO on multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (MDR-KP) were assessed by detecting MIC, checkerboard method assay, time-kill curves, resistance growth curves, transcriptome sequencing analysis, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), purification, and quantitative analysis of extracellular polysaccharides(EPS). In vivo part, an MDR-KP induced mouse pneumonia model was established to evaluate the mitigating effects of SVO on mouse pneumonia, using comprehensive network pharmacology and bioinformatics to identify genes related to bacterial pneumonia and potential targets of SVO. Validation was performed through molecular docking, qPCR, and ELISA tests., Results: SVO modulates the expression of MDR-KP mRNA for wecB, wecC, murA, murD, murE, murF, inhibiting the synthesis of O-antigen polysaccharides and peptidoglycans, thereby compromising bacterial cell wall integrity and affecting the synthesis of biofilms. These actions not only exhibit antibacterial effects but also enhance antibacterial activity, restoring the sensitivity of CEF to MDR-KP. Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Caryopteris trichosphaera W. W. Sm., a traditional ethnic medicine, was recorded in the Compendium of Materia Medica for treating wound infection by pathogenic infection. However, its antibacterial potential and bioactive compositions against drug-resistant bacteria need to be validated., Aim of the Study: To investigate the chemical constituents of C. trichosphaera and explore its anti-MRSA component in vitro and in vivo, together with the antibacterial mechanism., Materials and Methods: Bioactive constituents investigation was carried out by phytochemical method and antibacterial screening. The antibacterial mechanism was predicted by network pharmacology, which was further validated by time-kill analysis, membrane function tests, multigenerational resistance induction assay and biofilm test, and metabolomics analysis in vitro. In addition, MRSA-induced epidermal infection in mice was selected to evaluate its pharmacological effect in vivo., Results: Six antibacterial diterpenoids against MRSA and VRE with MIC values 4-32 μg/mL from C. trichosphaera were reported for the first time, in which the major compound cativic acid (1) disrupted MRSA cell membranes by modulating permeability, depolarization, and fluidity while increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. It also displayed remarkable anti-biofilm activity without inducing bacterial resistance or cytotoxicity. Moreover, cativic acid affected MRSA biosynthesis of cofactors, amino acid biosynthesis, nucleotide metabolism by metabolomics analysis. Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Propolis is a resinous substance collected by honeybees from various plant sources and has been used in traditional folk medicine for centuries. Propolis has various biological properties, including antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. The use of propolis in oral health care is attributable to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. However, limited evidence exists on the in vivo efficacy of propolis against periodontal pathogens., Aim of the Study: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Brazilian green propolis (BGP)-containing toothpaste for improving the oral environment and define its antibacterial compounds., Materials and Methods: Overall, 48 student volunteers aged 18-40 years (24 females and 24 males) were randomly categorized into the BGP and placebo groups. The BGP and placebo groups received toothpaste with and without BGP, respectively. After a baseline assessment, the plaque index (PI) score, gingival index (GI) score, and proportion of periodontal pathogens on the tongue surface were analyzed at 0, 1, and 2 weeks. Antibacterial compounds were identified using liquid-liquid partitioning, high-performance liquid chromatography purification, and nuclear magnetic resonance methods., Results: The concentration of BGP in the toothpaste was set at 0.0347 w/v%. Compared with the placebo group, the BGP group demonstrated a reduction in the PI score (p < 0.05) but not in the GI score, as well as a reduction in Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg)/Total bacteria (Tb), Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn)/Tb, and Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa)/Tb (p < 0.05) but not in Streptococcus salivalius/Tb. Effect sizes for Pg, Fn and Aa were 0.360, 0.556, and 0.164, respectively. Background: Antibiotic residues in animal-derived foods are seriously threatening human health and have attracted growing public attention. It is very important and valuable to carry out a rapid ultrasensitive detection of antibiotic residues, especially accurate identification based on molecular fingerprints., Results: Here, a (001) facet-supported TiO 2 facet heterojunction with abundant active sites (SF-TiO 2 ) was developed as a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for ultrasensitive detection of antibiotic residues in milk and honey foods. Exposure of more (001) facets in SF-TiO 2 can not only provide abundant surface-active sites for efficient chemical recognition of target molecules, but also form effective facet heterojunctions to achieve high-efficient carrier separation for charge transfer between substrate and molecule, which are together responsible for ultrasensitive SERS detection of target molecules with an enhancement factor of 1.3 × 10 7 . The detection limit of enrofloxacin, enoxacin, ciprofloxacin and chloramphenicol residues in milk or honey reaches to 10 -10 -10 -9  M, far lower than the EU standard. And, a simultaneous identification of multi-component residues in foods can be realized. Background: Aminoglycoside antibiotics (AGs) are commonly utilized in both human and veterinary medicine to treat and manage a range of infections. These antibiotics are recognized for their narrow therapeutic window, with an overdose potentially resulting in severe side effects like kidney and ear damage. Hence, the implementation of a quick, precise, and on-the-spot testing method is crucial in clinical settings. In the present investigation, we designed an innovative indirect lateral flow assay (LFA) utilizing aptamers to detect kanamycin, a type of aminoglycoside antibiotics. We prepared mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) functionalized with amino groups, loaded them with morphine (MOP), and then sealed them with aminoglycoside aptamers (Apt). The complex of gated-MSNs@Apt was tested using the MOP LFA in the presence or absence of kanamycin antibiotics., Results: The indirect LFA system displayed a single colored line in the test line for positive samples, whereas it exhibited double colored lines in both the control line and test line for negative samples. Our custom-designed LFA biosensors demonstrated two linear ranges, from 10 nM to 350 nM and 500 nM-1500 nM, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 5 nM in serum media under optimized conditions. Antibiotics in aquatic environments can foster the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, posing significant risks to both living organisms and ecosystems. This study explored the thermo-chemical conversion of cattle manure (CM) into biochar and assessed its potential as an environmental medium for removing nitrofurantoin (NFT) from water. The biochar was produced through the co-pyrolysis of CM and acid mine drainage sludge (AMDS) in a N 2 condition. The gaseous and liquid products generated during pyrolysis were quantified and characterized. The biochar exhibited both catalytic and adsorptive capability in NFT removal. It effectively activated persulfate to drive oxidative degradation of NFT via radical (SO 4 •- and •OH) and non-radical ( 1 O 2 ) pathways. NFT adsorption on the biochar involved multiple binding mechanisms, including electrostatic, hydrogen bonds, and π-π EDA interactions, as evidenced by XPS analysis before and after the reaction. Furthermore, the biochar's performance stability was demonstrated through five cycles of reuse and leaching tests. The growing prevalence of microbial infections, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) stemming from the overuse and misuse of antibiotics, call for novel therapeutic agents, particularly ones targeting resistant microbial strains. Scientists are striving to develop innovative agents to tackle the rising microbial infections and abate the risk of AMR. Pyrazole, a five-membered heterocyclic compound belonging to the azole family, is a versatile scaffold and serves as a core structure in many drugs with antimicrobial and other therapeutic effects. In this review, we have updated pyrazole-based antibacterial and antifungal agents mainly developed between 2016 and 2024, by combining with diverse pharmacophores such as coumarin, thiazole, oxadiazole, isoxazole, indole, etc. Meanwhile, the various strategies (molecular hybridization, bioisosterism, scaffold hopping, multicomponent reactions, and catalyst-free synthesis) for integrating different functional groups with the pyrazole ring are discussed. Additionally, structure-activity relationships of these pyrazole derivatives, i.e., how structural modifications impact their selectivity and therapeutic potential against bacterial and fungal strains, are highlighted. Little scientific evidence on metal passivation, antibiotic degradation and resistance genes removal, is available under autogenetic electrochemical reactions during composting process. This study established microbial fuel cell (MFC)-assisted composting procedure to ascertain the removal performance and detoxification mechanisms involving metals, antibiotics and their resistance genes. Compared to control treatment, the bioavailability of zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) in MFC-assisted treatment decreased by 7.8% and 26.9%, while the content of tetracycline (TCL) and oxytetracycline (OCL) reduced by 100% and 89%, respectively. Organics mineralization and humification were responsible for 80% and 70% of the variations in metal passivation and antibiotic degradation during composting process. A decrease of 54% was found for tetW gene, while copA gene increased by 42% in MFC-assisted composting treatment. Management of chronic diabetic wounds is challenging due to excess reactive oxygen species (ROS), hypoxia, persistent inflammation, and bacterial infection within the wound microenvironment. For addressing the aforementioned concern, we have developed a multifunctional hydrogel dressing (PMT-C@PhM) based on chitosan with self-healing, adhesive, antibacterial, and antioxidant capacities for therapeutic diabetic wounds. The hydrogel dressing consisted of quaternary ammonium salt- and catechol- modified chitosan (CQCS), thioctic acid-functionalized poly(ethylene glycol)s (PEGs), and polydopamine-coated honeycomb manganese dioxide nanoparticles (hMnO 2 @PDA NPs). The nanozyme-modified hydrogel exhibits superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities to scavenge ROS while generating oxygen to alleviate oxidative stress and hypoxic environment in wounds, and to attenuate the inflammatory response through modulating macrophage polarization. The PMT-C@PhM hydrogel is effective in the treatment of diabetic wound infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, and relieves oxidative stress, inhibits inflammation, and promotes neovascularization and dermal collagen synthesis thus providing favorable conditions for accelerated wound healing. Affected by persistent hyperglycemia, diabetic neuropathy, and vasculopathy hinder the progression of wound healing by exacerbating susceptibility to recurrent bacterial infection and impairing vascularization. In order to cater to the requirements of diabetic chronic wound healing at various stages, we designed an antibacterial and pro-angiogenic wound dressing with localized glucose-lowering capacity. In this study, we constructed a copper-based metal-organic framework (MOF) nanozyme and loaded with glucose oxidase (GOX) to prepare Cu-MOF/GOX, which was subsequently integrated with CS-Arg (chitosan modified by L-Arginine) and Pluronic (F127) to fabricate multifunctional Cu-MOF/GOX-Gel thermosensitive hydrogel. The GOX generated H 2 O 2 (hydrogen peroxide) and gluconic acid by consuming high blood glucose at the wound site, thus initiating an efficient antibacterial self-cascade catalytic in the initial stages of wound healing. With the further catalysis of in situ generated H 2 O 2 , NO (nitric oxide) was gradually released from the hydrogel, facilitating angiogenesis and accumulation of collagen, thereby expediting subsequent phases of wound healing. Pulmonary infections are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, a situation exacerbated by the COVID-19. Azithromycin (AZM) is used orally to treat pulmonary infections due to its ability to accumulate in lung tissues and immune cells after oral administration. Sulfated polysaccharides, such as heparin, are known to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 entry. This study presents a novel approach focused on developing a dry powder inhaler of AZM-loaded microparticles composed of either heparin or its derivatives. The microparticle formulations exhibited potent antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 (IC50 ≤ 95 nM) while retaining superior antibacterial efficacy against Streptococcus pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa compared to free AZM (MIC ≤15 μg/mL). Importantly, at bactericidal concentrations, no cytotoxic effects were observed on mammalian cells, including Calu-3 cells and red blood cells. The formulations demonstrated effective alveolar aerodynamic deposition (MMAD ranging from 1 μm to 3 μm) with a Fine Particle Fraction below 5 μm close to 50 %. The escalating threat of antibiotic-resistant bacteria necessitates the exploration of alternative therapeutic strategies. Mimicking natural enzymes with artificial nanomaterials to release reactive oxygen species offers an attractive approach but is still challenged by limited catalytic activity, high production costs, and compromised biocompatibility. This work develops a bioinspired mineralization strategy for immobilizing high-density and ultra-small ceria nanoparticles onto cellulose nanofibers. The high surface-to-volume ratio of as-prepared nanoceria coupled with the aqueous processing environment facilitates the incorporation of a high Ce 3+ content, significantly enhancing the peroxidase-like activity. The resulting ceria nanozyme demonstrates efficient antibacterial activity with negligible cytotoxicity. Wound dressing is commonly used for skin injuries. The design of wound dressing typically stems from the principles of open-wound management such as infection prevention, moisture balance and healing response. A new wound dressing comprising polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-berberine hydrochloride (BHC)/PVP-cellulose acetate (CA)-BHC/CA-aloin tri-layer Janus fiber was successfully fabricated using trifluid side-by-side electrospinning for antibacterial and wound healing functions. The fibrous membrane can hold 5.090 ± 0.276 times of its own water mass and achieve 6 h of microenvironment moisture retention. In vitro antibacterial results show that BHC exhibited selective resistance to S. aureus. The nanofibers were noncytotoxic and showed good cell adhesion properties and enhanced cell proliferation effect compared with BHC or aloin only tri-layer nanofibers. Owing to the specially designed tri-layer Janus structure, the in vitro drug-release profile of drugs-loaded fibrous membrane showed a combination of two-stage release for BHC (76.093 % ± 1.813 % release in first hour and 98.526 % ± 0.604 % release in 6 h) and sustained release for aloin (88.376 % ± 5.282 % release in 6 h). Recent outbreaks of alarming bacterial diseases have significantly impacted global agricultural productivity. Conventional bactericides exhibit certain limitations in efficiently impeding biofilm formation and annihilating biofilm-dispersed pathogens, and often expose to high off-target movement during foliar spraying. Here, we produce an innovative helical dendrimer-like supramolecular material (PhA28@β-CD) assembled by a bioactive small-molecule 2-chlorophenylisopropanolamine (PhA28) and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) through host-guest recognition principle. In this system, the advisable optimization by a macrocyclic oligosaccharide-β-CD significantly enhances the water-solubility, biocompatibility, and bioavailability of PhA28. At a low-dose of 6.8 μg/mL, PhA28@β-CD discloses an outstanding biofilm disruption rate of 82.4 %, notably exceeding that of PhA28 (60.6 %), which thereby reduces the biofilm-associated virulence. Meanwhile, the self-assembled PhA28@β-CD possesses superior wetting and dispersing properties on hydrophobic leaves, leading to effective foliar deposition and prolong retention of active components. In vivo studies reveal that PhA28@β-CD exhibits superior curative (66.0 %) and protective (72.6 %) activities against citrus canker at 200 μg/mL, markedly surpassing those of the existing bactericide thiodiazole‑copper (46.8 % and 52.2 %) and single PhA28. This material also has broad-spectrum control efficiency (53.0 % ~ 59.5 %) against rice bacterial blight. Intracellular bacteria are recognized as a crucial factor in the persistence and recurrence of infections. The efficacy of current antibiotic treatments faces substantial challenges due to the dormant state formation of intracellular bacteria. In this study, we devised a strategy aimed at reverting intracellular dormant bacteria to a metabolically active state, thereby increasing their vulnerability to antibiotics. We found that oligosaccharides, especially maltodextrin (MD), can be absorbed by dormant S. aureus, leading to their revival and restoration of sensitivity to rifampicin (Rif). We then synthesized a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive MD-prodrug by covalently binding MD with 4-(hydroxymethyl) phenylboronic acid pinacol ester (MD-PBAP) and prepared a ROS-responsive nanoparticles (MDNP) using a nanoprecipitation and self-assembly method. Once internalized by host cells, MDNP was degraded to MD, reactivating dormant S. aureus, and enhancing their susceptibility to Rif. More importantly, MDNP treatment restored the sensitivity of intracellular persistent S. aureus to Rif in both a reservoir transfer model and whole-body infection model. Additionally, MDNP have demonstrated excellent biocompatibility in both in vitro and in vivo settings. Emerging pathogens present a significant societal threat, and biological protection textiles are expected to play a pivotal role in controlling their spread. However, incorporating highly effective pathogen transmission-blocking abilities into textiles while ensuring their large-scale production remains challenging. This work has successfully developed a hierarchically structured coating for cotton fibers, which exhibits enhanced antiviral and antibacterial functionalities compared to existing phenolic coating methods. The multilevel coating consisted of a cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) scaffold on cotton fibers, along with a phenolic layer constructed of 4,4-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)valeric acid (DPA) on the CNF surfaces. The bioactive textile exhibited remarkable antiviral and antibacterial capabilities with exceptional durability, while demonstrating strong protein affinity for pathogen destruction. Especially, the CNFs with diameters below 10 nm show significant size effect in capturing phi6. This is primarily due to their complementary shape matching the spike proteins, resulting in an increased number of binding sites and improved inactivation effectiveness. Moreover, the modification process was demonstrated to be scalable in a pad-dry-cure line commonly employed by textile finishing factories, and the resultant coating ensured reliable safety for human skin without sacrificing wearing comfort. Biological fouling is a considerable threat to the marine industry because attached microcontaminants and microorganisms inflict serious damage on marine installations and aquacultures. Although there has been tremendous effort in researching marine antifouling, it is yet challenging to develop a long-term and consistent antifouling strategy and materials. Here, polyhexamethylene-biguanide (PHMB) and MXene are introduced into the carboxylated cellulose nanofibers (CNF) reinforced polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel to obtain a self-healing and ultra-high toughness antifouling hydrogel. The as-prepared double network (DN) hydrogels have extremely high toughness (16,050 kJ/m 3 ), superior anti-protein adhesion (100 %) and anti-algal adhesion (100 %), exceptional antibacterial activity (99.97 %), and remarkable photothermal self-healing capability. Furthermore, the DN hydrogel provide outstanding antifouling performance for at least six months in the actual marine field. Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) is an emerging strategy against resistant pathogenic bacteria, a serious global health threat. We describe herein the efficient preparation of photosensitized cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) using trialkoxysilane linkers for covalent incorporation of anionic (Rose Bengal: RB) and cationic (Toluidine blue O: TBO) photosensitizers (PSs), along with a N-alkyl-d-gluconamide ligand to specifically target Escherichia coli, as model nanosystems for aPDT. The synthesized nanomaterials exhibited high PS loading, high singlet oxygen quantum yield comparable to the solution, and good stability in aqueous media with minimal PS release under physiological conditions. Experimental viability tests in bacteria demonstrated their capability for aPDT, mitigating the inherent cytotoxicity of both PSs under dark conditions while retaining high phototoxicity against E. coli bacteria. The presence of gluconamide further enhanced photoactivity, highlighting the importance of surface functionalization with a specific bacterial ligand for improved efficacy. The CNC-supported RB system exhibited sufficient fluorescence for tracking via fluorescence microscopy, making it suitable for theranostics, integrating bioimaging and aPDT. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) remains a significant global health threat, necessitating the development of new therapeutic agents. Pleuromutilin derivatives offer a promising solution due to their potent antibacterial activity, particularly against Gram-positive bacteria such as MRSA. In this study, we synthesized a series of pleuromutilin derivatives with phenol linker containing C14 side chains and evaluated in vitro and in vivo antibacterial activities. Several compounds showed potent activity against MRSA and Staphylococcus aureus with minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) as low as 0.03125 μg/mL. In particular, compounds a4 and b4 showed rapid bactericidal activity, significantly reducing MRSA loads in time-kill kinetics and exhibiting slower resistance development compared to tiamulin. In vivo, compound a4 showed superior efficacy in reducing MRSA-induced lung damage in a mouse model at a lower effective dose (ED50 = 6.48 mg/kg) compared to tiamulin (ED50 = 11.38 mg/kg). Molecular docking and molecular dynamics studies also showed that compound a4 binds strongly to the ribosomal peptidyl transferase center (PTC), a key target for pleuromutilin derivatives. A personalized treatment strategy that selects sensitive antibiotics based on Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) resistance genes is currently the most effective approach to address the challenge of H. pylori eradication. However, the widespread adoption of this strategy is hindered by the long processing times and high costs associated with traditional resistance gene detection methods. In this study, we combined ultra-fast PCR with CRISPR/Cas14 into a single reaction system, establishing a rapid, one-pot visual platform named Cas14VIDet (Cas14-based Visual Instant Detection) for detecting H. pylori resistance genes. Cas14VIDet does not require a PAM sequence and excels in identifying single nucleotide polymorphisms, with the detection sensitivity approaching the level of a single bacterial colony (10 0  CFU/mL). The entire detection process can be completed within 10 min, and results are directly observable with the naked eye. We validated Cas14VIDet by testing 50 clinical samples and compared it with Sanger sequencing. The results showed that Cas14VIDet achieved 100% sensitivity, 100% specificity, and 100% accuracy in detecting H. pylori resistance genes to levofloxacin. To develop ultrasensitive and rapid antibiotics residue detection method is crucial for ensuring food safety and protecting human health. Herein, a novel photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor integrated with single-atom ruthenium (Ru) nanozyme-mediated catalytic precipitation as a valuable signal amplification strategy, have been established for ultrasensitive chloramphenicol (CAP) detection. Particularly, the exceptional peroxidase-mimicking activity of single-atom Ru nanozyme is responsible for accelerating the oxidation of 4-chloro-1-naphthol (4-CN) to produce insoluble precipitate on the electrode, which in turn causes a notable reduction in the photocurrent. Whereas, when CAP is present, the aptamer is liberated away the electrode because of its potent affinity with CAP, resulting in an elevation of the photocurrent signal, enhancing the detection sensitivity. Importantly, the signal amplification strategy combines the effective photoactive material of Au nanoparticles/CdS quantum dot/TiO 2 composites, a PEC aptasensor for determination of CAP with an ultralow detection limit of 4.12 pM is achieved in a self-powered mode with great selectivity and accuracy. Chronic wounds cause serious health and economic burdens on patients and society. Herein, a wireless and flexible smart wound dressing was developed for matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) monitoring and antimicrobial treatment toward chronic wound management. The highly sensitive radio frequency MMP-9 sensor was realized based on a bioresponsive hydrogel with the bioactive peptide sequences. Taking advantage of the flexible inductive-capacitive (LC) circuit and bioresponsive hydrogel, the wireless and wearable smart wound dressing offered an efficient strategy for in-situ wound analysis. Besides, the controlled release of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from the degradable hydrogel exhibited significant antimicrobial efficacy against typical bacteria in wound infection including Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This study aimed to address the challenge of extending the shelf life of Boletus wild mushrooms, which are prone to environmental and microbial contamination. An antibacterial film composed of polylactic acid (PLA) and mesoporous silica nanoparticles loaded with citral (CMP film) was developed for this purpose. Fifteen quality indices were assessed, and the data were integrated using AHP and TOPSIS to evaluate the film's efficacy. The CMP film effectively maintained the quality of mushroom over time. Additionally, a Nonlinear Global Optimization-Long Short-Term Memory (NGO-LSTM) model was employed to predict storage quality, using seven highly correlated quality indicators. The model achieved a high predictive accuracy, with the R 2 exceeding 0.999. This study incorporated purple sweet potato anthocyanin (PSPA) and silver-nanoparticles (AgNPs) into the chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol film matrix (PVA/CS) to successfully prepare a composite film, which effectively inhibited bacterial growth and indicated product freshness. The addition of AgNPs and PSPA led to a dense structure of the film, which effectively enhanced its physical properties, barrier properties and functional properties. The incorporation of PSPA made the composite film highly pH-sensitive, which exhibited distinct color changes in varying pH solutions. The PVA/CS-AgNPs-PSPA10 composite film with PSPA and AgNPs resulted the shelf life of strawberries to 13 days at 4 °C, which effectively reduced strawberry breathing during storage. Additionally, such composite film changed color from purple to yellow-purple, indicating the deterioration of strawberries. Chemodynamic therapy (CDT) is emerging as a promising treatment for biofilm infections. However, its effectiveness is significantly hindered by several factors: the body's stable temperature, a limited supply of Fe 2+ ions, and inadequate endogenous levels of H 2 O 2 at the infection sites. Herin, our study introduces MPN-crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA) nanogels as an effective strategy for treating biofilm-associated infections. The DHA@HA-TA/Fe (DHTF) nanogel is synthesized through the coordination reaction between Fe 2+ ions and tannic acid (TA)-modified HA, with dihydroartemisinin (DHA) encapsulated within the structure. DHTF exhibits pH-/hyaluronidase-responsiveness in the biofilm infection microenvironment, enabling sustained release of DHA as a substitute for H 2 O 2 and Fe 2+ for CDT. The incorporation of Fe 2+ /TA-based MPN and DHA within the nanogels enables photothermal/DHA dually-enhanced CDT, facilitating efficient disruption of biofilm matrices and bacterial eradication through boosting reactive oxygen species production. In vivo studies demonstrate that DHTF exhibit prolonged retention within biofilms. This ensures a sustained release of therapeutic agents and continuous anti-biofilm activity. This study introduces a novel antimicrobial peptide (AMP), WBp-1, isolated from wheat bran and purified via reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. The amino acid sequence, determined as IITGASSGIGKAIAKHFI by LC-MS/MS, was composed predominantly of alkaline and hydrophobic residues. WBp-1 was predicted to be a stable, hydrophobic, cationic peptide with an α-helical structure. Moreover, it displayed significant antibacterial efficacy against Listeria monocytogenes, with a minimum inhibitory concentration of 150 μg/mL. Further mechanistic studies suggest that WBp-1 exerts its bactericidal activity by disrupting cell membrane integrity, impeding peptidoglycan synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding protein 4 via hydrogen bonding, increasing cell permeability, altering membrane potential and fluidity, and altering surface hydrophobicity. Interestingly, WBp-1 showed minimal hemolytic activity and cytotoxicity against LO2 cells, even at 16× MIC. The potential contamination, including microbial and mycotoxin infection, may escape from the naked eye, posing great threats to food products. Recently, photodynamic inactivation (PDI)-based technology particular has received particular attention because of their high safety. Herein, food-derived hesperetin (Hst) was innovatively introduced as an esculent photosensitizer, engineering with food-grade TiO 2 nanoparticles (NPs) to form an organic-inorganic heterojunction structure. Triggered by visible light, the obtained TiO 2 /Hst NPs were endowed with efficient photoactivity, achieving higher inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus (antibacterial ratio of 98.3 %). The removal capacities of the TiO 2 /Hst NPs towards patulin (PAT) reached approximately 17.76 μg mg -1 , approximately 2 times higher than TiO 2 and Hst. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) employs reactive oxygen species (ROS) from a photosensitizer (PS) under light, inhibiting multi-drug resistance in bacteria. However, hypoxic conditions in infection sites and biofilms challenge PDT efficiency. We developed fluorinated small molecular micelles (PF-CBMs) as PS carriers to address this, relieving hypoxia and enhancing PS penetration into biofilms. Perfluorocarbons in PF-CBMs transport more oxygen due to their excellent oxygen-dissolving capability. Fluorination enhances loading capacity and serum stability, reduces premature release, and improves cellular uptake, to improve PDT efficacy. PF-CBMs, with acid-induced surface charge transformation, exhibit superior biofilm penetration, resulting in increased antibiofilm activity of PDT. Compared to fluorine-free micelles (PC-CBMs), PF-CBMs demonstrate better serum stability, higher drug loading, and reduced premature release, leading to significantly improved antibacterial efficacy in vitro and in vivo. In this study, bio-based composite films from nanocellulose, tannin and chitosan were fabricated. First, tannin was covalently immobilized onto dialdehyde CNCs (DACNCs) through the nucleophilic reaction to obtain TA-CNCs. TA-CNCs were then added into chitosan matrix as the nanofillers to obtain chitosan-TA-CNC (CS-TA-CNC) films. Compared with pure chitosan film, the water solubility, swelling ratio, water vapor and oxygen barrier properties of CS-TA-CNC films decreased, indicating the improved water-resistant and barrier properties. The composite films exhibited high UV blocking, antioxidant capacity and antimicrobial properties against both E. coli and S. aureus. CS-TA-CNC film with a TA-CNC content of 10 % exhibited the highest tensile strength (77.57 MPa) and toughness (23.51 MJ/m 3 ), 2.23 and 2.5 times higher than that of pure chitosan film, respectively. The composite films extended postharvest life of tomato cherries compared to the pure chitosan film. Myricetin (MYR) is a flavonoid with favorable biological activities. In this study, MYR oxidation products (MYRox) were generated through enzymatic oxidation of MYR using horseradish peroxidase. The results showed enzymatic oxidation enhanced the water solubility and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) of MYR. Further experiments showed the antibacterial effects of MYRox were conferred by MYR organic phase oxidation products (MYRoo). Both MYR and MYRoo could disrupt the cell membrane integrity, bind to the genomic DNA, affect protein synthesis and degradation, and alter the ROS levels in S. aureus. However, they exerted these effects with different strengths and ways. Finally, MYR or MYRoo can be used as an inhibitor against S. aureus in the cabbage food system, with MYRoo having better effect. A molecular-imprinted polymer (MIP) gel with high effective recognition of amphenicol antibiotics was synthesized for the first time based on layered double hydroxide (LDH) as the support and initiator, and functionalized β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) as the functional monomer. The synergistic effect of molecular imprinting recognition and β-CD host-guest affinity enabled MIP gel to exhibit excellent selectivity (imprinted factors: 3.9-9.4) and high adsorption capacity (28.9-75.4 mg g -1 ) for amphenicol antibiotics. Different adsorption isotherms and kinetics models were followed, suggesting heterogeneous single-layer recognition and chemical adsorption. After 5 cycles of adsorption and desorption, the adsorption capacity of MIP gel retained above 83.6 %, demonstrating favorable reproducibility and stability. Under optimal conditions, the method validation showed a satisfactory limit of detection (5-10 μg L -1 ), good correlation (r 2  > 0.9967), and respectable recovery (82.6-105.3 %). The MIP gel was applied to extract amphenicol antibiotics from food matrices, achieving recoveries in the range of 78.3-104.5 %. Importantly, the recognition mechanism was studied in detail using density functional theory. Foodborne pathogens continue to pose a significant threat to human health. This study aims to enhance the antimicrobial activity of low-dose silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) against foodborne pathogens and use the enhanced AgNPs to preserve green grapes. A chemical delivery carrier for covalent organic frameworks (COFs) impregnated with AgNPs was developed. We investigated the bacteriostatic properties (minimum bacteriostatic concentration, bacteriostatic growth curve), the mechanism of action of the bacteriostatic agent, and the performance of the bacteriostatic film. The bacteriostatic preservation rate of the AgNPs@COFs composite on green grapes was evaluated. The minimum bacteriostatic concentration of the AgNPs@COFs composite was 10 μg/mL, and the bacteriostatic rate varied between 94.01 % and 98.77 %. The escalating concern regarding the adverse effects of metal ion toxicity on both human health and environmental ecosystems necessitates the development of efficient detection methodologies. This study presents a focused investigation on the selective and sensitive detection of Cu(II) ions employing hybrid magnetic nanoparticles derived from chalcone-based bis-organosilane. These nanoparticles exhibit a notably low detection limit in the nano-scale range, rendering the sensor highly sensitive to Copper(II) ion detection while maintaining robust anti-interference capabilities, even in the presence of diverse metal ions. Real sample analysis confirms the sensor's efficacy in detecting Cu(II) ions below WHO-prescribed levels. Computational analyses reveal molecular interactions and biological activities, including potent antibacterial and antioxidant properties, suggesting promising applications. The emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has become a global health challenge due to the overuse of antibiotics. Natural substances including enzymes and essential oils have shown great potential as alternative treatment options. However, the combinational use of these natural agents remains challenging due to the denaturation of enzymes upon direct contact with oil. In this study, we report the design of a Pickering emulsion containing two natural antibacterial agents, lysozyme and tea tree oil, stabilized by fractal silica nanoparticles. In this design, the enzyme activity is kept and the volatility problem of tea tree oil is mitigated. Due to synergistic bacterial cell wall digestion and membrane disruption functions, potent bactericidal efficacy in vitro against drug-resistant bacteria is achieved. The therapeutic potential is further demonstrated in a wound healing model with drug-resistant bacteria infection, better than a synthetic antibiotic, Ampicillin. The abuse of antibiotics has seriously threatened human health and living environment. Nevertheless, the detection of quinolones is currently mainly performed by high-cost and cumbersome means, such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Herein, we reported a novel method based on copper-doped MoO x nanoparticles (Cu-MoO x NPs) with peroxidase-like enhancement activity for the easy preparation, sensitive and rapid visualization of quinolone detection. Cu-MoO x NPs can make the chromogenic substrate 3,3',5,5'-Tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) change from colorless to blue. Moreover, the addition of quantitative quinolone antibiotics can significantly accelerate the TMB oxidation reaction. Based on this phenomenon, a colorimetric method for detecting quinolone antibiotics was established with a good linear relationship ranging from 1 × 10 -6  M to 1.3 × 10 -4  M, and the detection limit was 0.310 μM for ciprofloxacin (CIP) and 0.520 μM for levofloxacin (LVFX). A number of new substances were included into the (5Z)-5-[(2-piperidinequinoline-3-yl)methyl]-2-chloroquinoline structural framework. The condensation process 2-chloroquinoline, which served as a crucial reagent in the reaction with 3-carbaldehydes to produce 2,4-thiazolidinedione, allowed for the production of 1,3-thiazolidine-2,4-dione. The newly developed substances were described by means of their reactions with halide compounds, particularly those pertaining to substituted N-alkylation. Elemental analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 1 H NMR) were used to identify the chemical. Furthermore, the antibacterial activity of the produced compounds was evaluated in vitro against a range of pathogens, including Bacillus subtilis, and Escherichia coli. Microbial contamination is the leading cause of food spoilage and food-borne disease. Here, we developed a multifunctional surface based on polylactic acid (PLA) bioplastic with antifouling and antibacterial properties via a facile dual-coating approach. The surface was designed with hierarchical micro/nano-scale roughness and low surface energy. Bactericidal agent polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride (PHMG) was incorporated to endow the film with bactericidal activity. The film had good superhydrophobic, antifouling and antibacterial performance, with a water contact angle of 154.3°, antibacterial efficiency against E. coli and S. aureus of 99.9 % and 99.6 %, respectively, and biofilm inhibition against E. coli and S. aureus of 63.5 % and 68.9 %, respectively. Synergistic effects of antibacterial adhesion and contact killing of bacteria contributed to the significant antibacterial performance of the film. Background: Amikacin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, is widely used for the treatment of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections. To date, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of amikacin has primarily relied on the measurement of peak and trough levels as indicators rather than the 24-hr area under the concentration-time curve (AUC24)., Methods: NTM patients referred for amikacin TDM from March 2021 to May 2023 were assessed for the AUC24 values based on administered dose. We investigated re-admission rates, all-cause mortality and AFB smear results to evaluate clinical outcome based on the actual AUC24 values. Ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity were also investigated as adverse effects in correlation with TDM parameters., Results: Among 65 patients, the mean and median values of AUC24 were 234 and 249 mg·hr/L, respectively. In a group of patients with AUC24 values less than 250 mg·hr/L, 42.4 % of patients were re-admitted for pulmonary symptoms. On the contrary, another group with AUC24 values equal to or more than 250 mg·hr/L, had lower re-admission rates (25.0 %). They also showed lower all-cause mortality rates and more improvement on acid-fast bacilli smear results. Moderate to poor correlation between AUC24 values and peak/trough levels were observed. Ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity were revealed to be associated with drug exposure duration rather than AUC24 values., Conclusion: In this study, we performed comparative assessment of trough/peak level, traditional clinical marker for amikacin TDM, and AUC24 value. The water pollution caused by the abuse of antibiotics has significant harmful effects on the environment and human health. The photo-Fenton process is currently the most effective method for removing antibiotics from water, but it encounters challenges such as inadequate response to visible light, low yield and utilization of photogenerated electrons, and slow electron transport. In this study, spin state regulation was introduced into the photo-Fenton process, and the spin state of Co 3+ was regulated through Ce displacement doping. The intermediate-spin state Ce-LaCoO 3 could degrade 91.6 % of tetracycline within 120 min in the photo-Fenton system, which is 15.2 % higher than that of low-spin state LaCoO 3 . The improved degradation effect is attributed to the reasons that Ce-LaCoO 3 in the intermediate-spin state have lower band gap, better charge transfer ability, and stronger adsorption capacity of H 2 O 2 , which can accelerate the redox cycle of Co 2+ /Co 3+ and promote the generation of ·OH. Antibiotics are essential for treating infections and reducing risks during medical interventions. However, many commonly used antibiotics lack the physiochemical properties for an efficient oral administration when treating systemic infection. Instead, we are reliant on intravenous delivery, which presents complications outside of clinical settings. Developing novel formulations for oral administration is a potential solution to this problem. We engineered hexosome and cubosome liquid crystal nanoparticles (LCNPs) characterized by small-angle X-ray scattering and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy, and could encapsulate the antibiotics vancomycin (VAN) and clarithromycin (CLA) with high loading efficiencies. By rationally choosing stable lipid building blocks, the loaded LCNPs demonstrated excellent resilience against enzymatic degradation in an in vitro gut model LCNP stability is crucial as premature antibiotic leakage can negatively impact the gut microbiota. In screens against the representative gut bacteria Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli, our LCNPs provided a protective effect. Furthermore, we explored co-administration and dual loading strategies of VAN and CLA, and demonstrated effective loading, stability and protection for E. faecalis and E. coli. Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are ideal fluorescent probes for rapid detection. This paper reviews the synthesis methods of CQDs, their application in the rapid detection of antibiotics and heavy metals in the environment and food, and the underlying detection mechanisms. The hydrothermal method is the most commonly used for synthesis, and CQDs doped with heteroatoms (such as N, P and S) exhibit superior fluorescence performance. In the presence of antibiotics and heavy metals, the fluorescence of CQDs can be quenched or enhanced. Single-signal and dual-signal probes can be developed using the fluorescence, phosphorescence and absorbance of CQDs, enabling rapid detection of various antibiotics (e.g., tetracycline, quinolone and beta-lactam antibiotics) and heavy metals (e.g., Cd 2+ , Cr 6+ , Fe 3+ , Hg 2+ , and Pb 2+ ). With the combination of smartphones and fluorescent probe test strips developed based on CQDs, on-the-spot rapid detection can be realized. Nonspecific adsorption of biomolecules (notably, proteins) and bacteria from unsterilized food may occur on sensor surfaces, which is still a challenge for food safety sensing. To achieve sensitive detection of unsterilized raw-food materials, in this study, a U-shaped four-in-one peptide with the sequence Ac-FLKLLKKLL-DOPA 3 -PPPPEEKDQDKEKaa that exhibited anchoring, antifouling, antibacterial, and recognition properties was designed. The peptide-modified sensor surface effectively prevented bacterial adhesion and proliferation while resisting biomolecule adsorption (signal inhibition rate as low as 0.51 % in single-protein solutions). A highly conductive polymer layer of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) was introduced to improve the electrochemical performance before U-shaped four-in-one peptide anchoring. The proposed sensor could accurately detect vancomycin, with a wide linear range and limit of detection of 0.05-10 μg mL -1 and 2.06 ng mL -1 (S/N = 3), respectively.
