Comments in favor of the scientist by a Nobel laureate in Physics, Vitaly Ginzburg are also given.

There is growing criticism over the appointment of FSB Col. Gen. Anatoly Safonov as Russian President's special representative for international cooperation fighting terrorism and trans border organized crime. The reason for the criticism is that the General had botched assignments that he received from former Russian President Boris Yeasting and Prime Minster Chernomyrdin.

Petrol and diesel fuel prices have reached five-year highs in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, in turn pushing food prices higher. The rise in fuel prices has prompted an investigation by the South Siberian Territorial Directorate of the Ministry of Anti-Monopoly Policy, which claims that the price rise is a result of collusion between gas station owners.

The cause of death of Lt.Col. Yevgeny Konovalenko, head of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Organized Crime & Corruption Administration, has not yet been determined.
