Abstract

A recent study conducted at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, has developed an innovative method for enhancing the production of L-glutathione (GSH), a tripeptide compound with various applications in medicine, food additives, and cosmetics. The researchers combined metabolic engineering of GSH biosynthetic pathways with an adenosine-based adenosine triphosphate (ATP) regeneration system in Escherichia coli to increase GSH production. By optimizing the whole-cell catalytic conditions, the engineered strain achieved an impressive GSH titer of 24.19 g/L in just 2 hours, with a conversion rate of 98.39% from the added l-Cys. Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Nantong University in China focused on the development of a stable solid dispersion formulation of chrysin, a flavonoid with various biological activities. The researchers aimed to improve the dissolution and oral bioavailability of chrysin, as well as enhance its antihyperlipidemic activities. They prepared a solid dispersion of chrysin using a hydrophilic carrier called Plasdone(R) S630 and conducted various characterization and evaluation tests. The results showed that the optimized formulation significantly increased the dissolution rates and oral bioavailability of chrysin, and demonstrated improved antihyperlipidemic performance in rats.
