Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Nantong University in China focused on the development of a stable solid dispersion formulation of chrysin, a flavonoid with various biological activities. The researchers aimed to improve the dissolution and oral bioavailability of chrysin, as well as enhance its antihyperlipidemic activities. They prepared a solid dispersion of chrysin using a hydrophilic carrier called Plasdone(R) S630 and conducted various characterization and evaluation tests. The results showed that the optimized formulation significantly increased the dissolution rates and oral bioavailability of chrysin, and demonstrated improved antihyperlipidemic performance in rats. The study suggests the potential use of this novel oral formulation to reduce the required high dose of chrysin. [Extracted from the article]
