The article explores supercomputing/high-performance computing (HPC) in Latin America. HPC is beginning to impact economies and societies worldwide, largely do to the Internet and artificial intelligence. Topics discussed include how Latin American countries still lag behind others in terms of their investment in HPC, a closer look at HPC in Brazil, Mexico and Uruguay, and a look at supercomputers located throughout Latin America, including the Santos Dumont supercomputer in Brazil.
