The evolution of space-time dynamics in the State of Tabasco, in the Southeast of Mexico, was studied using Land Change Modeler, and scenarios with Markov Chains and Cellular Automata were projected. The results indicate that during fifteen years (2001-2016) 76,522 ha of wetlands, 18,333 ha of forests, and 73,591 ha of secondary vegetation were lost, due to the enormous growth of 148,129 ha of agricultural use, and the expansion of 13,375 ha of areas urban. In addition, through Markov Chains and Cellular Automata (2016-2030), losses of 19,152 ha of wetlands, 8,324 ha of forests, and 10,592 ha of secondary vegetation were projected. This scenario shows that the incessant growth of agriculture and urban areas will continue in the coming years. This study provides information for models of territorial ecological ordering, because it is urgent to conserve and restore the last ecosystems of southeastern Mexico., Se estudió la evolución de la dinámica espacio temporal en el Estado de Tabasco, en el Sureste de México, mediante Land Change Modeler, y se proyectaron escenarios con Cadenas de Márkov y Autómatas Celulares. Los resultados señalan que durante quince años (2001-2016) se perdieron 76,522 ha de humedales, 18,333 ha de selvas, y 73,591 ha de vegetación secundaría, debido al crecimiento descomunal de 148,129 ha de uso agropecuario, y la expansión de 13,375 ha de zonas urbanas. Además, mediante Cadenas de Markov y Autómatas Celulares (2016-2030), se proyectaron pérdidas de 19,152 ha de humedales, 8,324 ha de selvas, y 10,592 ha de vegetación secundaría. Este escenario demuestra que se mantendrá el incesante crecimiento agropecuario y de zonas urbanas en los próximos años. De plus, à travers les chaînes de Markov et les automates cellulaires (2016-2030), des pertes de 19 152 ha de zones humides, 8 324 ha de forêts et 10 592 ha de végétation secondaire ont été projetées. Ce scénario montre que la croissance incessante de l'agriculture et des zones urbaines se poursuivra dans les années à venir. Cette étude fournit des informations pour des modèles d'ordre écologique territorial, car il est urgent de conserver et de restaurer les derniers écosystèmes du sud-est du Mexique.

Invasive plants can substantially modify wetland structure and animal distribution patterns. In eastern North America, a Eurasian haplotype of the common reed (Phragmites australis, haplotype M) is invading wetlands. We studied the invasion of common reed in freshwater wetlands of an urbanized landscape and its effects on the distribution of amphibians at different life stages. Specifically, we hypothesized that the probability of reed invasion would be greatest in wetlands near anthropic disturbances. We predicted that the probability of desiccation at sampling stations increases with reed cover. Furthermore, we expected that wetlands invaded by common reed would have lower amphibian abundances, apparent survival, and rates of recruitment. We conducted trapping surveys to compare anuran assemblages of tadpoles, juveniles, and adults in 50 wetlands during two field seasons. The probability of reed invasion in wetlands increased with the cover of heavily-managed areas within 1,000 m and the distance to the nearest forest, but decreased with the length of roads within 1,000 m. The probability of station desiccation increased with reed cover. We found no evidence of a negative effect of reed presence on anuran population parameters, at any life stage. Landscape variables, such as the percent cover of forest or heavily-managed areas within a given radius from each wetland, influenced the abundance or the apparent survival of juvenile frogs and the abundance of ranid tadpoles. Our results show that amphibian patterns depend more strongly on the structure of the landscape surrounding wetlands than on exotic reed invasion in wetlands.

This study investigated the spatial distribution of clogging matter in a full-scale horizontal subsurface flow treatment wetland (HSSF TW) based on an electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) method, comparing the performance of two different electrode configurations (i.e., Schlumberger and Wenner arrays). The results indicated that during the draining phase, the substrate apparent resistivities of the full-scale HSSF TWs were negatively correlated with the clogging matter fraction (v/v), and a functional relationship between the two parameters was established using a first-order k-C* model. The detected clogging matter fraction (v/v) based on the Schlumberger array showed higher accuracy (linear slope = 0.900, R-squared = 0.902) than the Wenner array (linear slope = 0.685, R-squared = 0.685). Most of the severe substrate clogging in the full-scale HSSF TW occurred within a 10-m flow distance, and the distribution of the clogging matter showed different characteristics at different substrate depths. From a cross section positioned 1 m from the inlet, the average clogging matter fraction (v/v) at a 0–0.30 m depth (23.1 ± 14.9%) was significantly higher than that at a 0.30–0.80 m depth (5.0 ± 2.1%). The clogging matter at a 5-m flow distance was evenly distributed at different substrate depths. Only a few localized clogging zones were observed in the cross section at a 10-m flow distance. Aquaculture is the fastest growing food production sector worldwide. Global demand for seafood continues to grow, and landbased aquaculture is expected to grow in order to meet the increasing market demand. In this context, marine aquaculture production systems are moving towards land-based farming. However, due to the large volumes of wastewater with high effluents before discharge. salinity and other fish-metabolism derived pollutants (e.g., nitrogen compounds), it remains a challenge for treatment of effluents from land-based marine aquaculture. A large portion of Canada is covered by wetlands; mapping and monitoring them is of great importance for various applications. In this regard, Remote Sensing (RS) technology has been widely employed for wetland studies in Canada over the past 45 years. This study evaluates meta-data to investigate the status and trends of wetland studies in Canada using RS technology by reviewing the scientific papers published between 1976 and the end of 2020 (300 papers in total). Initially, a meta-analysis was conducted to analyze the status of RS-based wetland studies in terms of the wetland classification systems, methods, classes, RS data usage, publication details (e.g., authors, keywords, citations, and publications time), geographic information, and level of classification accuracies. The deep systematic review of 128 peer-reviewed articles illustrated the rising trend in using multi-source RS datasets along with advanced machine learning algorithms for wetland mapping in Canada. It was also observed that most of the studies were implemented over the province of Ontario. Pixel-based supervised classifiers were the most popular wetland classification algorithms. This review summarizes different RS systems and methodologies for wetland mapping in Canada to outline how RS has been utilized for the generation of wetland inventories. Last decade, real time kinematics (RTK) GPS methods have been developed with high productivity and good theoretical precision, enabling the coverage of wide areas. The main objective of this contribution is to ascertain the performance of this method in the study of thest areas "A" (about 12 km2) within the Doñana National Park wetlands. One of the aims of the research Project was the detection and monitoring of sub-decimiter level terrain changes due to water erosion or sand sedimentation. The technique used is GPS navigation and profiling along N-S paths 50 m apart during the dry season. The firts survey has been carried out in summer 1998, including repeatability tests. About 20000 terrain points have been obtained. The survey has been reapted in July 2000. After filtering and editing, conclusions about precision have been derived from the repeatability test and compring both surveys. Other practical remarks are related with the total number of GPS available during the fieldwork, the inicialization process using RTK at increasing distances, and the GPS positioning during high geomagnetic activity days., Peer Reviewed, Postprint (published version)

Wetlands are important natural resources due to their numerous ecological services. Consequently, identifying their locations and extents is imperative. The stability, repeatability, cost-effectiveness, multi-scale coverage, and proper spatial resolution imagery of satellites provide a valuable opportunity for their use in various large-scale applications, such as provincial wetland mapping. To do so, it is required to (1) process and classify big geo data (i.e. a large amount of satellite datasets) in a time- and computationally-efficient approach and (2) collect a large amount of field samples. In this study, Google Earth Engine (GEE) and machine learning algorithms were utilized to process thousands of remote sensing images and produce provincial wetland inventory maps of the three Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). Additionally, using GEE, a generalized supervised classification method is proposed to produce a regional wetland map from a large area (e.g., a province) when lacking field samples. In fact, using the field data from only Manitoba and assuming that all wetlands in Canada have similar characteristics, the wetland maps were generated for the other two provinces. The overall classification accuracies for Manitoba, Quebec, and NL were 84%, 78%, and 82%, respectively, indicating the high potential of the proposed method for aiding provincial wetland inventory systems., Postprint (published version)

La Mancha Húmeda combines a surface, density and diversity of wetlands unique in the Iberian Peninsula, so as abundant and diverse waterfowl. Despite degradation and/or threats to wetlands and populations, management is concentrated in a few sites. Our hypothesis is that it is the complex, and not individual wetlands, which attracts and maintains this biodiversity. To contrast it, Levins’ model of metapopulations is applied to 10 species of different functional groups and 10 representative wetlands along four hydrological cycles, one of them very humid. When analyzing the variation in the counts of birds, colonization and extinction rates, proportion of occupied habitats and habitat availability, it was observed that: 1. The method has been validated against the dynamics of wintering and summer populations. 2. Some species show a classical metapopulation strategy in the study period. 3. Loss of habitats may mean a high risk of decline in the populations of some species. It is concluded that the survival of many species depends on the maintenance of the asynchronous functioning of the wetlands, for which management at the wetland network level is necessary., La Mancha Húmeda combine une surface, densité et diversité des zones humides unique dans la péninsule ibérique, ainsi comme populations d’oiseaux aquatiques aussi abondantes et diversifiées. La perte d’habitat peut présenter un risque élevé de diminuer la taille de certaines populations. The word "drought" has been common in the history of Spain. In the middle of the 19th century, the opinion began to circulate that water should be property of the State and should be used to irrigate large areas that were waiting for this resource and that would not be lost in the sea without fertilizing the fields before. The projects to build dams come precisely from this need. Initiating this task needed a new legal regulation. In 1889 the first Civil Code was promulgated and the Water Law of 1879 could be implemented. Between the years 2015 and 2017, the rains have been absent from Spanish landscapes and dams, so that of 50 years ago or more are disappearing. The impact of drought is present in all the basins; moreover, they are almost without water resources. This situation has generated social alarm and, if persisted, will jump to politics. This essay addresses drought and lack of water as a problema in the last century and a half of the history of Spain, since 1850., El vocablo “sequía” ha sido común en la historia de España. A mitad del siglo XIX, comenzó a circular la opinión de que el agua debía ser propiedad del Estado y debía aprovecharse para irrigar amplias superficies que estaban esperando este recurso y que no se perdiera en el mar sin fertilizar antes los campos. Los proyectos para construir pantanos proceden precisamente de esta necesidad. Iniciar esta tarea necesitó de una nueva normativa legal y en 1889 se promulgó el primer Código Civil y se pudo complementar la Ley de Aguas de 1879. Entre los años 2015 y 2017 las lluvias han estado ausentes de los paisajes españoles y los pantanos, por lo que las esperanzas gestadas hace cincuenta años o más se están esfumando. El impacto de la sequía está presente en todas las cuencas; es más, se encuentran casi sin recursos hídricos. Esta realidad ha generado alarma social y, de persistir, saltará a la política. Este ensayo aborda la sequía y la falta de agua como problema en el último siglo y medio de la historia de España, desde 1850., Le mot "sécheresse" a été commun dans l'histoire de l'Espagne. L'impact de la sécheresse est présent dans tous les bassins; de plus, ils sont presque sans ressources en eau. Cette réalité a engendré une inquiétude sociale et, si elle persiste, elle deviendra politique. Cet essai aborde la sécheresse et le manque d'eau comme un problème dans le dernier siècle et demi de l'histoire de l'Espagne, depuis 1850.

Meanwhile, the sustainability of most ecosystem service (ES) supplies, which form a great part of the livelihoods, health and economy of inhabitants in remote regions, is threatened by large-scale land-use changes. Objective : The aim of the study was to assess the consequences of postponing ES conservation planning in remote regions prone to industrial development. More specially, is there a development threshold at which ES conservation may be imperilled. Methods : We simulated eight stages of development using actual data on hydroelectricity generation, forestry and mining expansion. Aiming to protect ten wetland’s ES provision, we assembled referential conservation networks prior to development and several alternative conservation solutions after each stage of development. We compared these networks and assessed the impact of land-use changes on the basic properties of ES conservation networks. Results : We found that conservation network alternative solutions were more costly in terms of additional area needed to achieve all targets: up to 16 % more so, compared to referential networks. Past a certain stage of development, alternative solutions were composed of a significantly greater proportion of small sites and, consequently, the networks became much more fragmented. Development also changed the spatial configuration of networks: up to 66 % of the sites included in alternative solutions were not selected in the referential networks. Conclusions : According to current trends, future development will strongly compete with ES conservation. Our study emphasizes the importance of implementing ES conservation actions before development, even in remote regions.

The book extends the knowledge on wetland ecosystem services based on the new research. The information combines the achievements gained in carbon sequestration, nutrient accumulation, macrophyte decomposition, wastewater treatment, global warming mitigation in constructed as well as natural wetlands across the globe. The work aims at designing and implementing a demonstrative pilot plant to treat landfill leachate to: i. Encourage of the use the constructed wetlands for water quality improvement ii. To improve technical training programs in constructed wetlands iii. To cooperate with local authorities to promote the use of constructed wetlands to treat landfill leachate in areas with particular natural and cultural interests in Perú. To achieve these objectives, we have design and implemented a program to strengthen human capacity in the design, operation, monitoring and maintenance of constructed wetlands. Universidad Nacional Agricola la Molina (UNALM) has provided infrastructure, equipment, and library facilities to develop programs that include training, research, innovation and public awareness. The program for science is strengthening to improve the education, promote researchers, and encourage mobility of technical staff and students within the doctoral program at the UNESCO Chair of the UPC. The project also includes the production of training manuals as well as web tool for teaching, training, and dissemination. The program also includes the education of Environmental promoters that will train high school students on issues related to wastewater in schools. Has built a prototype artificial wetland and ecological toilet module. The prototype is fully operational and is expected to be a model for local actors. Moreover, it is expected that this work will contribute to local governments to implement strategies to improve water quality through constructed wetlands, and promote the use of artificial wetlands in isolated communities, increasing the quality of the environment and reduce the impact on human health., Postprint (published version)

Four side-by-side pilot-scale vertical flow (VF) constructed wetlands of different designs were evaluated for the removal of eight widely used emerging organic contaminants from municipal wastewater (i.e. ibuprofen, acetaminophen, diclofenac, tonalide, oxybenzone, triclosan, ethinylestradiol, bisphenol A). Three of the systems were free-draining, with one containing a gravel substrate (VGp), while the other two contained sand substrate (VS1p and VS2p). The fourth system had a saturated gravel substrate and active aeration supplied across the bottom of the bed (VAp). All beds were pulse-loaded on an hourly basis, except VS2p, which was pulse-loaded every 2h. Each system had a surface area of 6.2m2, received a hydraulic loading rate of 95mm/day and was planted with Phragmites australis. The beds received an organic loading rate of 7-16gTOC/m2d. The sand-based VF (VS1p) performed significantly better (p<0.05) than the gravel-based wetland (VGp) both in the removal of conventional water quality parameters (TSS, TOC, NH4-N) and studied emerging organic contaminants except for diclofenac (85±17% vs. 74±15% average emerging organic contaminant removal for VS1p and VGp, respectively). Although loading frequency (hourly vs. bi-hourly) was not observed to affect the removal efficiency of the cited conventional water quality parameters, significantly lower removal efficiencies were found for tonalide and bisphenol A for the VF wetland that received bi-hourly dosing (VS2p) (higher volume per pulse), probably due to the more reducing conditions observed in that system. However, diclofenac was the only contaminant showing an opposite trend to the rest of the compounds, achieving higher elimination rates in the wetlands that exhibited less-oxidizing conditions (VS2p and VGp). Sediment microbial fuel cell (sMFC) represents a variation of the typical configuration of a MFC in which energy can be harvested via naturally occurring electropotential differences. Moreover, constructed wetlands show marked redox gradients along the depth which could be exploited for energy production via sMFC. In spite of the potential application of sMFC to constructed wetlands, there is almost no published work on the topic. The main objective of the present work was to define the best operational and design conditions of sub-surface flow constructed wetlands (SSF CWs) under which energy production with microbial fuel cells (MFCs) would be maximized. To this aim, a pilot plant based on SSF CW treating domestic sewage was operated during six months. Redox gradients along the depth of SSF CWs were determined as function of hydraulic regime (continuous vs discontinuous) and the presence of macrophytes in two sampling campaigns (after three and six months of plant operation). Redox potential (EH) within the wetlands was analysed at 5, 15 and 25 cm. Results obtained indicated that the maximum redox gradient was between the surface and the bottom of the bed for continuous planted wetlands (407.7 ± 73.8 mV) and, to a lesser extent, between the surface and the middle part of the wetland (356.5 ± 76.7 mV). A time series of Envisat/ASAR images was acquired for monitoring the inundation evolution in Doñana National Park wetlands. Flood mapping from the ASAR data alone was unfeasible due to the complex casuistic of Doñana’s covers backscattering. A digital terrain model and a vegetation map were then utilized to complement the ASAR data. The use of irregular filtering neighborhoods adapted to the terrain elevation contours drastically improved the ASAR images filtering. Pixels highly likely to belong to the different cover classes were selected by combining the vegetation map, the DTM-based sub-basin segmentation and previous knowledge on the covers backscattering. An integrated pilot-scale treatment system consisting of a vertical subsurface flow (317 m2), a horizontal subsurface flow (229 m2) and a free water surface (240 m2) constructed wetlands operating in series for the treatment of a combined sewer effluent was put into operation and monitored over a period of about 1.5 years. The goal of the treatment system was to provide effluents suitable for various water reuse applications. Moreover, the influence of pulses of high flow resulting from several rain events over the treatment performance of the system was evaluated. An intensive sampling campaign was also carried out following an intense storm (45 mm in one-hour span) to have a further insight into the characteristics of the inflowing water at the early part of it or so-called ‘first-flush’. Results under dry weather conditions showed a good performance on the removal of BOD5, COD and TSS taking place already in the vertical flow wetland (94, 85 and 90%, respectively). A high removal of total nitrogen occurred also in the vertical flow wetland (66%) suggesting both nitrification and denitrification to take place, presumably due to the existence of both aerobic and anoxic microenvironments within the bed. Removal of Escherichia coli along the treatment system was of almost 5 log units. To this respect, the horizontal flow and free water surface wetlands proved to be crucial treatment units to achieve a water quality suitable for further reuse (e.g. recharge of aquifers by percolation through the ground, silviculture and irrigation of green areas non accessible to the public). Although the occurrence of the storm event caused a prompt raise of COD and TSS within the first 30 min of rainfall (868 and 764 mg L−1, respectively), it was soon followed by a dilution effect. In a scenario of climate change and increased anthropogenic pressure, detailedmonitoring of the water resources provides a fundamental tool to assess the ecosystem health and identify potential threats. Doñana wetlands, in Southwest Spain, dry out every summer and progressively flood in fall and winter to a maximum extent of 30,000 ha. Thewetland filling up processwasmonitored in detail during the 2006–2007 hydrologic cycle bymeans of twenty-one Envisat/ASAR scenes, acquired at different incidence angles in order to maximize the observation frequency. Flood mapping from the two uncorrelated ASAR channel data alone was proved unfeasible due to the complex casuistic of Doñana cover backscattering. This study addresses the synergistic utilization of the ASAR data together with Doñana's digital elevation model and vegetation map in order to achieve flood mapping. Filtering and clustering algorithms were developed for the automated generation of Doñana floodmaps from the ASAR images. The use of irregular filtering neighborhoods adapted to the elevation contours drastically improved the ASAR image filtering. Edge preservation was excellent, since natural edges closely follow terrain contours. Isotropic neighborhoodswere assumed of a single class and their intensitieswere averaged. As a result, intensity fluctuations due to speckle and texture over areas of the same cover type were smoothed remarkably. The clustering and classification algorithm operate on individual sub-basins, as the pixel elevation is more accurately related to the cover classes within them. Vegetation and elevation maps plus knowledge of Doñana backscattering characteristics from preceding studies were initially used to select seed pixelswith high confidence on their class membership. Next, a region growing algorithm extends the seed regions with new pixels based on their planimmetric adjacency and backscattering Mahalanobis distance to the seeds. L’objectif général de cet essai est donc d’élaborer un programme de suivi de l’intégrité des lacs de montagne marocains, réaliste et applicable dans le cadre socio-économique de la région, en se basant principalement sur des indicateurs liés aux oiseaux aquatiques. Une revue des corrélations entre les réponses des oiseaux aquatiques et divers changements environnementaux a permis de constater que la majorité des impacts découlant des facteurs de perturbation présents dans la région à l’étude pourraient être indiqués par des variations dans certains paramètres liés aux oiseaux aquatiques. Toutefois, de tels bioindicateurs ne permettent pas d’identifier avec certitude la nature des perturbations détectées. Des indicateurs complémentaires ont donc été proposés et une analyse de la pertinence de récolter différents types de données a été réalisée. Cette démarche a permis d’émettre des recommandations quant à l’élaboration d’un programme de suivi complet et réaliste, plus particulièrement en ce qui concerne la formulation d’objectifs, la récolte des données ainsi que l’analyse et l’interprétation des indicateurs.

L’excès de phosphore (P) dans les eaux de retenues est responsable d’une prolifération de cyanobactéries. Cela s’observe fréquemment dans la plupart des pays européens. En France, le lac de Ribou, localisé à Cholet, est un cas typique (Maine-et-Loire) illustrant cette problématique. La présence de P est principalement liée aux rejets des stations d’épuration (STEP), situées sur le bassin versant, non équipées de processus de déphosphatation et également liées aux pratiques agricoles et aux élevages de bovins. Ainsi, la concentration moyenne de P total entrant dans le lac de Ribou par le Trézon sur l’année 2006 a été de 0,34 mg•L-1, ce qui en fait une eau de qualité « passable » et de nature « mésotrophe » alors que la retenue de Ribou a un caractère eutrophe. De plus, en matière de flux, il se déverse dans le lac de Ribou environ 18,7 tonnes de P•an-1. Sortir de l’eutrophisation reviendrait à abaisser cette valeur à 1 tonne de P•an-1, soit une concentration moyenne de P dans les eaux d’alimentation de la retenue de 0,03 mg•L-1. Pour sortir de cette situation, un plan de gestion dans le cadre du Schéma d’Aménagement de Gestion de l’Eau (SAGE) a démarré en 2006. Il comprend un ensemble de 29 mesures avec, en particulier, la mise en place de contrats agro-environnementaux permettant de réduire les surfaces en cultures au profit de surfaces en prairies, la réalisation de diagnostics agro-environnementaux sur 170 exploitations, l’organisation de journées de formation pour la plantation et l’entretien des haies, la prise en compte du phosphore dans les projets de modernisation des six STEP du bassin versant (non-rejet, déphosphatation, etc.), la mise en place de bandes enherbées, le suivi mensuel de la qualité de l’eau brute sur 16 points de prélèvement du bassin versant, l’organisation de réunions techniques auprès des acteurs concernés permettant la promotion de méthodologies visant à réduire le phosphore et la promotion de la « désintensification » des systèmes de prod, In wetlands, the accumulation of phosphorus (P) is a consequence of anthropogenic activities. Eutrophication is a serious environmental problem and an important issue in the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive. In our case, cyanobacteria blooms and loss of biodiversity have afflicted Lake Ribou (Cholet town, Maine-et-Loire Department, western France), leading to a production of cyanotoxins higher than acceptable levels. Phosphorus loadings to Lake Ribou are attributable mainly to wastewater treatment processes, which cannot totally remove phosphorus, and to intensive agriculture. The phosphorus concentration in the lake water is frequently above 0.3 mg•L-1 (10 times higher than the acceptable level). Total phosphorus loadings from the watershed have been estimated to be 18.7 T per year.As a first step in the restoration of the lake, an initial diagnosis was established. The present paper details the results of a principal component analysis (PCA) of the physicochemical data bank (52 data over six years). This analysis identified station TR as the most eutrophicated, and thus a priority site for restoration. Floristic inventories were conducted during the months of May and October 2006 at station TR. According to these floristic inventories, 21 species were identified in May and 12 species in October; the predominant species were Juncus effusus, Phalaris arundinacea, Salix sp., Rorippa amphibia, and Lemna minor. The observation of Phalaridaie helophytes, including Rorippa amphibia, Lycopus europaeus, Mentha aquatica, Phalaris arundinacea, Alisma plantago-aquatica and Lythrum salicaria, confirmed the eutrophic state of the reservoir. On the other hand, three species identified as Phalaris arundinacea, Salix sp. and Juncus effusus could be used in order to remove excess phosphorus in wetlands as described recently. This original approach could allow the creation of artificial wetlands throughout a watershed using autochthonous macrophytes.

The main interest of the methodology for the investigation of wastewater reclamation and reuse systems which is proposed in this paper is that all costs and benefits (social and private) are considered in the economic and technological analysis. This general concern allows an improvement in the design of investment decisions. Traditionally, an economic-financial analysis of wastewater reclamation and reuse systems focuses exclusively on the study of costs and private benefits. The methodology that is presented in this paper takes into account not only the private impacts but also the project spillovers which could have relevance on the project. In this research, the use value of the reclaimed water in the Natural Wildlife Park of Aiguamolls de l’Emporda` is estimated. The travel cost technique is applied to estimate the external value of the Park. According to the final results, the price of the reclaimed water in the Park should have to be between 0.75 ⁄/m3 (without opportunity cost) and 1.20 ⁄/m3(with opportunity cost)., Postprint (published version)

The proceedings report on major working sites for restoration (Venice lagoon, the bay of Mont-Saint- Michel, the Seine estuary...) and on achievements of varying scope and nature, including biorestoration. Developers and planners as well as ecological engineering enterprises all require scientific assessment criteria., Les actes de ces journées font état de réflexions, tant en France qu'à l'étranger, sur la restauration de marais, d'estuaires, de baies et de lagunes, incluant l'incidence sur les espèces et ressources. L’ouvrage regroupe une sélection des communications présentées devant un public de scientifiques, enseignants, aménageurs professionnels de la mer et conservateurs du littoral. Y sont présentés quelques grands chantiers (lagunes de Venise et de Tunis, baie du Mont-Saint-Michel, estuaire de Seine...), ainsi que des réalisations de tailles et de natures diverses. Des aspects particuliers de la biorestauration sont abordés au travers du traitement biologique des vases, ou celui des pollutions par hydrocarbures. Les aspects technico-économiques s'appuient sur des exemples accidentels ou naturels. Les aménageurs et les sociétés d’ingénierie écologique pourront trouver, dans ces documents, critères et méthodes d’évaluation scientifique pour quantifier les coûts de restauration d'écosystèmes en fonction de l'importance des « dégâts ».

L’ouvrage regroupe une sélection des communications présentées devant un public de scientifiques, enseignants, aménageurs professionnels de la mer et conservateurs du littoral. Y sont présentés quelques grands chantiers (lagunes de Venise et de Tunis, baie du Mont-Saint-Michel, estuaire de Seine...), ainsi que des réalisations de tailles et de natures diverses. Des aspects particuliers de la biorestauration sont abordés au travers du traitement biologique des vases, ou celui des pollutions par hydrocarbures. Les aspects technico-économiques s'appuient sur des exemples accidentels ou naturels. Les aménageurs et les sociétés d’ingénierie écologique pourront trouver, dans ces documents, critères et méthodes d’évaluation scientifique pour quantifier les coûts de restauration d'écosystèmes en fonction de l'importance des « dégâts ».
