Biopesticides are considered as the effective measure to combat environmental consequences brought by chemical pesticides. However, due to the comparatively high price of biopesticides and unreasonable government subsidies, the trade-off between economy, society and environment represents a daunting task for pesticide supply chains. This study establishes a pesticide supply chain including manufacturers, retailer and government to study the production and sales strategies of pesticides under two different structures: monopoly and duopoly. Based on the equilibrium and numerical analyses, we find that: first, only when the government subsidy falls within a reasonable range, it can incentivise the chemical pesticide manufacturer to produce biopesticides in both monopoly and duopoly markets. Interestingly, the subsidy can improve the profit of pesticide supply chain in monopoly market, however the consumer surplus and social welfare are greater in duopoly market with the increase of subsidy. Second, the profit of pesticide supply chain is better after launching biopesticide and the retailer gains more profits in duopoly market than in monopoly market with the increase of farmer’s biopesticide acceptance. Third, the launch of biopesticides can decrease the influence of environment pollution in both market structures, and less environmental impact in monopoly market.

The effective radiative forcing of anthropogenic aerosols (ERFaer) is an important measure of the anthropogenic aerosol effects simulated by a global climate model. Here we analyze ERFaer simulated by the E3SM version 1 (E3SMv1) atmospheric model using both century-long free-running atmosphere–land simulations and short nudged simulations. We relate the simulated ERFaer to characteristics of the aerosol composition and optical properties, and we evaluate the relationships between key aerosol and cloud properties. In terms of historical changes from the year 1870 to 2014, our results show that the global mean anthropogenic aerosol burden and optical depth increase during the simulation period as expected, but the regional averages show large differences in the temporal evolution. The largest regional differences are found in the emission-induced evolution of the burden and optical depth of the sulfate aerosol: a strong decreasing trend is seen in the Northern Hemisphere high-latitude region after around 1970, while a continued increase is simulated in the tropics. The relationships between key aerosol and cloud properties (relative changes between pre-industrial and present-day conditions) also show evident changes after 1970, diverging from the linear relationships exhibited for the period of 1870–1969. In addition to the regional differences in the simulated relationships, a reduced sensitivity in cloud droplet number and other cloud properties to aerosol perturbations is seen when the aerosol perturbation is large. Consequently, the global annual mean ERFaer magnitude does not increase after around 1970. The ERFaer in E3SMv1 is relatively large compared to the recently published multi-model estimates; the primary reason is the large indirect aerosol effect (i.e., through aerosol–cloud interactions). Compared to other models, E3SMv1 features large relative changes in the cloud droplet effective radius in response to aerosol perturbations. Large sensitivity is also seen in the liquid cloud optical depth, which is determined by changes in both the effective radius and liquid water path. Aerosol-induced changes in liquid and ice cloud properties in E3SMv1 are found to have a strong correlation, as the evolution of anthropogenic sulfate aerosols affects both the liquid cloud formation and the homogeneous ice nucleation in cirrus clouds (that causes a large effect on longwave ERFaer). As suggested by a previous study, the large ERFaer appears to be one of the reasons why the model cannot reproduce the observed global mean temperature evolution in the second half of the 20th century. Sensitivity simulations are performed to understand which parameterization and/or parameter changes have a large impact on the simulated ERFaer. The ERFaer estimates in E3SMv1 for the shortwave and longwave components are sensitive to the parameterization changes in both liquid and ice cloud processes. When the parameterization of ice cloud processes is modified, the top-of-model forcing changes in the shortwave and longwave components largely offset each other, so the net effect is negligible. This suggests that, to reduce the magnitude of the net ERFaer, it would be more effective to reduce the anthropogenic aerosol effect through liquid or mixed-phase clouds.

The natural vegetation has been substantially changed over the last millenium, especially from forest to agricultural areas in Europe. To study the effects of deforestation on carbon and climate system, it is essential to construct spatially precise maps in forest cover. The current representative historical forest data sets are either derivatives of agricultural datasets or are produced based on the deforestation-population relationship. Almost no attempts have been made to use the inherently linked relationship between deforestation and cropland expansion that has run through Europe for millennia. This study created an approach based on the relationship between cultivation intensity and forest fraction to reconstruct forest cover changes in central and southeast Europe from AD 1800 to 2000 by the following steps: (1) To develop the spatial relationship curve (spatial resolution is 1°) between the “cultivation intensity (0–100%)” and the “forest fraction (0–100%)” derived from modern land cover datasets; (2) To generate the national-scale cropland data based on historical records from AD 1800 to 2000, and to allocate them to a 1° pixel; (3) To reconstruct the forest cover using the aforementioned relationship curve and the historical gridded cropland database. The results show that: (1) The forest fraction in central and southeast Europe decreased from 38.4% in AD 1800 to 27.0% in AD 1900, and then increased to 32.5% in AD 2000. (2) In AD 1800, large areas of forests can be primarily found in Luxembourg, Netherlands and Belgium, the south of France, the south of Germany, the Alps region, Poland, and the majority of the Balkans. (3) Throughout the 19th century, the entire region was generally subjected to deforestation, with large areas of forest coverage only being preserved in the Alps and the western and southern Balkans after 100 years of exploration. (4) The forest coverage in most of the study regions increased again at the end of the 20th century.

Although nanochannels in tortuous shape exhibit unusual transportational characteristics, the traditional theoretical analysis of nanofluidics in such kinds of systems remains challenging, partly due to their complicated boundary description. In this paper, by developing a curvilinear coordinate system for such tortuous nanochannels, we solve the electrostatic Poisson–Boltzmann equation analytically for a two-dimensional nanochannel, with its effectiveness confirmed through numerical calculation. The influences of the geometric profile on the distribution of electric potential, ionic concentration, and surface charge on channel walls are quantitatively evaluated in a facilitated way in terms of the curvilinear coordinates introduced. Such a technique can be widely applied to many nanofluidic systems in curved channels.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) or programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) have enabled some patients with cancer to experience durable, complete treatment responses; however, reliable anti–PD-(L)1 treatment response biomarkers are lacking. Our research found that PD-L1 K162 was methylated by SETD7 and demethylated by LSD2. Furthermore, PD-L1 K162 methylation controlled the PD-1/PD-L1 interaction and obviously enhanced the suppression of T cell activity controlling cancer immune surveillance. We demonstrated that PD-L1 hypermethylation was the key mechanism for anti–PD-L1 therapy resistance, investigated that PD-L1 K162 methylation was a negative predictive marker for anti–PD-1 treatment in patients with non–small cell lung cancer, and showed that the PD-L1 K162 methylation:PD-L1 ratio was a more accurate biomarker for predicting anti–PD-(L)1 therapy sensitivity. These findings provide insights into the regulation of the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway, identify a modification of this critical immune checkpoint, and highlight a predictive biomarker of the response to PD-1/PD-L1 blockade therapy.

Background The Parkland Grading Scale (PGS) is an intraoperative grading scale to stratify gallbladder disease severity during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). We evaluated the usefulness of the PGS in predicting the difficulty levels of LC procedures using a novel approach. Methods A total of 261 patients diagnosed with cholelithiasis and cholecystitis who underwent LC were assessed. The PGS and the surgical difficulty grading system were used to evaluate surgical procedures by reviewing the operation videos. Clinical baseline characteristics and post-treatment outcomes were also recorded. Differences between the five PGS grades in terms of surgical difficulty scores were analyzed using the Jonckheere-Terpstra test. The relationship between PGS grades and surgical difficulty scores was assessed using Spearman’s Rank correlation. Finally, the linear trends between morbidity scores and PGS grades were evaluated using the Mantel-Haenszel test. Results There was a significant difference in the surgical difficulty scores for the five PGS grades (p p p = 0.07) and Grade 3 vs. 4 (p = 0.08). There was a significant correlation between PGS grades and surgical difficulty scores (rs = 0.681, p p p = 0.004). Conclusion The PGS can accurately assess the surgical difficulty level of LC. The precision and conciseness of the PGS make it suitable for use in future research.

Objective To investigate the stress and factors influencing nursing students' clinical practice through questionnaires, and to provide reference for relieving nursing students' practice stress and proposing effective coping strategies. Methods A information questionnaire and a stress scale for internship nursing students were used to investigate 366 undergraduate internship nursing students in a tertiary-level general hospital in Inner Mongolia. Results The total mean stress score of intern nursing students was (2.5±0.34), indicating that the overall stress level of intern nursing students was at a medium level, and family income and the way of choosing nursing specialty were the influencing factors of intern nursing students' stress. Conclusion Nursing students are under greater stress during clinical practice, so it is necessary for nursing managers and educators to explore effective coping strategies to reduce nursing students' stress and improve their practice outcomes.

To investigate the effect of scutellarin (SCU) in diabetic retinopathy (DR) and explore the associated molecular network mechanism. The animal model of DR was established from diabetic mellitus (DM) rats by intraperitoneally injected streptozotocin (STZ) at dosage 55 mg/kg. Meanwhile, SCU was intraperitoneally administrated to protect retina from cell pyroptosis induced by DM, and cell pyroptosis was detected by using HE, Nissl staining, and immunofluorescence recognition. Moreover, the hub gene involving in pyroptosis in DR was screened by bioinformatics and network pharmacology, designated as Venny intersection screen, GO and KEGG analysis, PPI protein interaction, and molecular docking. Lastly, the expressional change of hub genes were validated with experimental detection. Cell pyroptosis of the DR, specifically in retina ganglion cells (RGC), was induced in DM rats; SCU administration results in significant inhibition in the cell pyroptosis in DR. Mechanically, 4084 genes related to DR were screened from GeneCards and OMIM databases, and 120 SCU therapeutic targets were obtained, by using GeneCards, TCMSP with Swiss Target Prediction databases. Moreover, 357 targets related to pyroptosis were found using GenenCards database, and Drug, disease and phenotypic targets were analyzed online using the Draw Venn Diagram website, and 12 cross targets were obtained. Through GO function and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis, 659 BP related items, 7 CC related items, 30 MF related items, and 70 signal pathways were screened out; Of these, eleven proteins screened from cross-target PPI network were subsequently docked with the SCU, and their expressions including caspase-1, IL-1β, IL-18, GSDMD and NLRP3 in RGC indicated by immunofluorescence, and the mRNA expression for caspase-1 in DR indicated by quantitative PCR, were successfully validated. SCU can effectively protect RGC pyroptosis in DR, and underlying mechanisms are involved in the inhibition of caspase-1, GSDMD, NLRP3, IL-1β and IL-18. Our findings therefore provide crucial evidence to support the clinic practice of SCU for the treatment of DR, and explained the underlying molecular network mechanism.

Objective: The dysregulation of circadian rhythms is proved to be associated with the development of and may affect the treatment of tumors. However, the biological role of NR1D1/2 remains elusive in gastric cancer. We analyzed the effects of NR1D1/2 expression with occurrence and prognostic value for gastric cancer. Methods: By using the online databases including ULCAN, KM plotter, STRING database and FunRich software, the effects of NR1D1/2 on the occurrence, clinical features and prognosis of gastric cancer were evaluated in gastric cancer. Results: Based on the analyses of data obtained from online database, both the mRNA expression of NR1D1 and NR1D2 were higher in stomach carcinoma than in normal tissue (pConclusion: Our study suggests that NR1D1 and NR1D2 may be potential biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer.

Current gel entrapment technology has certain advantages for the enrichment of anammox sludge. In this study, the optimal preparation conditions and cultivation equipment of Ca-alginate cell beads for the culturing anammox sludge were proposed. The preparation parameters of the Ca-alginate cell beads were as follows: 3% sodium alginate, 4% CaCl2, VSA:Vcell = 1:1, a drop height of 9 cm, stirring speed of 300 rpm, and cross-linking time of 24 h. The prepared cell beads were regular spheres with a uniform size and hard texture. Throughout the 9 days of cultivation, the number of anammox bacteria in the Ca-alginate cell beads was 4.3 times that of the initial sludge, and the color of the cell beads changed from yellowish-brown to reddish-brown. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis showed that the SA gel beads had a good microporous structure. The fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) results illustrated that the bacteria were mostly dispersed inside the Ca-alginate cell beads. Additionally, the qPCR results implied that only a relatively small amount of anammox biomass (2.74×106 copies/gel-bead) was required to quickly start the anammox process. The anammox bacteria in the Ca-alginate cell beads grew with a fast growth rate in a short period and exhibited high activity due to diffusion limitations. In addition, the anammox bacteria cultivated in the Ca-alginate cell beads could adapt to the increase in substrate concentration in a short period. The optimal incubation time of this gel entrapment method for anammox sludge was no more than 17 days under the experimental conditions of this work. Therefore, this simple and practicable gel entrapment method may serve as a suitable pre-culture means for the rapid enrichment of anammox bacteria.

Anterior gradient 2 (AGR2), a protein disulfide isomerase (PDI), is a multifunctional protein under physiological and pathological conditions. In this study we investigated the roles of AGR2 in regulating cholesterol biogenesis, lipid-lowering efficiency of lovastatin as well as in protection against hypercholesterolemia/statin-induced liver injury. We showed that AGR2 knockout significantly decreased hepatic and serum total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in mice with whole-body or hepatocyte-specific Agr2-null mutant, compared with the levels in their wild-type littermates fed a normal chow diet (NCD) or high-fat diet (HFD). In contrast, mice with AGR2 overexpression (Agr2/Tg) exhibited an increased cholesterol level. Chick embryo cecal epithelial cell culture technology, flow cytometry, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, and fluorescence quantitative PCR were used to detect the E. tenella host cell apoptotic rate, Bax and Bid expression levels, and calpain activity. Realistic simulation of the Earth's mean-state climate remains a major challenge, and yet it is crucial for predicting the climate system in transition. Deficiencies in models' process representations, propagation of errors from one process to another, and associated compensating errors can often confound the interpretation and improvement of model simulations. These errors and biases can also lead to unrealistic climate projections and incorrect attribution of the physical mechanisms governing past and future climate change. Here we show that a significantly improved global atmospheric simulation can be achieved by focusing on the realism of process assumptions in cloud calibration and subgrid effects using the Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM) Atmosphere Model version 1 (EAMv1). The calibration of clouds and subgrid effects informed by our understanding of physical mechanisms leads to significant improvements in clouds and precipitation climatology, reducing common and long-standing biases across cloud regimes in the model. The improved cloud fidelity in turn reduces biases in other aspects of the system. Furthermore, even though the recalibration does not change the global mean aerosol and total anthropogenic effective radiative forcings (ERFs), the sensitivity of clouds, precipitation, and surface temperature to aerosol perturbations is significantly reduced. This suggests that it is possible to achieve improvements to the historical evolution of surface temperature over EAMv1 and that precise knowledge of global mean ERFs is not enough to constrain historical or future climate change. Cloud feedbacks are also significantly reduced in the recalibrated model, suggesting that there would be a lower climate sensitivity when it is run as part of the fully coupled E3SM. This study also compares results from incremental changes to cloud microphysics, turbulent mixing, deep convection, and subgrid effects to understand how assumptions in the representation of these processes affect different aspects of the simulated atmosphere as well as its response to forcings. We conclude that the spectral composition and geographical distribution of the ERFs and cloud feedback, as well as the fidelity of the simulated base climate state, are important for constraining the climate in the past and future.

Defect engineering with the active control of defect states brings remarkable enhancement on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) by magnifying semiconductor-molecule interaction. Such light-trapping architectures can increase the light path length, which promotes photon-analytes interactions and further improves the SERS sensitivity. However, by far the reported semiconductor SERS-active substrates based on these strategies are often nonuniform and commonly in the form of isolated laminates or random clusters, which limit their reliability and stability for practical applications. Herein, we develop self-grown single-crystalline "V-shape" SnSe2-x (SnSe1.5, SnSe1.75, SnSe2) nanoflake arrays (SnSe2-x NFAs) with controlled selenium vacancies over large-area (10 cm × 10 cm) for ultrahigh-sensitivity SERS. First-principles density functional theory (DFT) is used to calculate the band gap and the electronic density of states (DOS). Based on the Herzberg-Teller theory regarding the vibronic coupling, the results of theoretical calculation reveal that the downshift of band edge and high DOS of SnSe1.75 can effectively enhance the vibronic coupling within the SnSe1.75-R6G system, which in turn enhances the photoinduced charge transfer resonance and contributes to the SERS activity with a remarkable enhancement factor of 1.68 × 107. Furthermore, we propose and demonstrate ultrasensitive (10-15 M for R6G), uniform, and reliable SERS substrates by forming SnSe1.75 NFAs/Au heterostructures via a facile Au evaporation process. We attribute the superior performance of our SnSe1.75 NFAs/Au heterostructures to the following reasons: (1) selenium vacancies and (2) synergistic effect of the near and far fields. For vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), edge caching has attracted considerable research attention to maximize the efficiency and reliability of infotainment applications. In this paper, we propose a two-layer distributed content caching scheme for VANETs by jointly exploiting the cache at both vehicles and roadside units (RSUs). Specifically, we formulate content caching problem to minimize the overall transmission delay and cost as a nonlinear integer programming (NLIP) problem and propose an alternate dynamic programming search (ADPS) based algorithm to solve it. In ADPS, we divide the original problem into three sub-problems, then we use the dynamic programming (DP) method to solve each sub-problem separately. To reduce the complexity, we further propose a cooperation-based greedy (CBG) algorithm to solve the large scale original problem. Both numerical simulation results and experiments in testbed show that the proposed caching scheme outperforms existed caching schemes, the transmission delay and cost can be reduced by 10% and 24% respectively, while the hit ratio can be increased by 30% in a practical environment, as compared to popularity-based caching scheme.

Introduction: Studies have suggested dexmedetomidine (DEX) as a potential antidepressant. However, no relevant research exists on its effects and mechanisms in curing depression caused by chronic pain. Therefore, an understanding of DEX’s role in depressive disorders proposes new approaches for antidepressant treatment. Methods: In this study, C57Bl/6 mice (n = 80) were divided into sham (n = 8) and chronic constrictive injury (CCI, n = 72) groups. The CCI group was further divided into six subgroups: CCI + normal saline (NS), CCI + DEX6.25, CCI + DEX12.5, CCI + DEX25, CCI + DEX50, and CCI + DEX100. Fourteen days after CCI, mice that did not develop a depressive phenotype were excluded through sucrose preference test (SPT), forced swimming test (FST), paw thermal withdrawal latency (PTWL), and serum corticosterone (CORT). Subsequently, mice in the sham group were administered 0.1 mL/10 g NS once daily. However, mice in the CCI subgroups were administered NS (0.1 mL/10 g), DEX (6.25 µg/kg), DEX (12.5 µg/kg), DEX (25 µg/kg), DEX (50 µg/kg), and DEX (100 µg/kg) intraperitoneally once daily for 1 week, respectively. Afterward, bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) was injected intraperitoneally once daily as well for 3 consecutive days before sampling, following BrdU- and doublecortex (DCX)-positive cell detection in the hippocampus through immunofluorescence. Results: The success rate of the chronic pain-depression (CPD) model was 62.5%. As observed, DEX dose-dependently affected sucrose preferences during the SPT and immobility time during FST. Results also showed that 25 µg/kg DEX had the best promotion effect during increased sucrose preference and reduced immobility time. Moreover, although DEX improved PTWL and serum CORT, no improvement over the DEX 25 µg/kg treatment was observed. Compared to the sham group, the percentage of BrdU+ and DCX+ cells was also significantly lower in the CCI + NS group. Besides, DEX dose-dependently affected cell proliferation and neuronal differentiation. Additionally, the percentage of BrdU+ and DCX+ cells in the dentate gyrus (DG) region of the hippocampus was highest in the CCI + DEX25 group. Conclusion: Therefore, DEX dose-dependently alleviates depression induced by chronic pain through neurogenesis promotion in the DG region of the hippocampus.

Research on heterogeneous combat networks (HCNs) has attracted considerable interest in the military field since they can provide useful insights into the provision of decision-making assistance. The characteristics of high-operational-capability HCNs are not well studied, which limits the ability to construct a better combat network. To fill this gap, an integrated methodology named genetic algorithm-based high-capability HCN analysis (GAHCA) is presented to elucidate the characteristics of high-operational-capability combat networks. In GAHCA, an improved genetic algorithm is proposed to search more efficiently for high-operational-capability HCNs. Then, the properties of these HCNs are studied by the cartographic picture analysis and contribution analysis of nodes and links. The results unveil the critical topological structures of operational capability generation and quantitatively demonstrate the importance of the military criterion of “concentration of superior forces”. These results further emphasize that blindly increasing military resources may not enhance the operational capability of the HCN and, worse yet, may instead cause a decrease in network capability. These are all meaningful findings for assisting in the construction of a better HCN. Finally, the reliability of the improved genetic algorithm is demonstrated by comparison with two state-of-the-art algorithms and one classical algorithm.

BackgroundsApathy is common in Parkinson’s disease (PD) but difficult to identify. Growing evidence suggests that abnormal iron metabolism is associated with apathy in PD. We aimed to investigate the clinical features and iron metabolism of apathetic patients with PD, and construct a nomogram for predicting apathy in PD.MethodsData of 201 patients with PD were analyzed. Demographic data, Apathy Scale (AS) assessments, and serum iron metabolism parameters were obtained. Spearman correlations were used to assess relationships between AS scores and iron metabolism parameters, separately for male and female patients. Additionally, a nomograph for detecting apathetic patients with PD was built based on the results of logistic regression analysis.ResultsThe serum transferrin (TRF, p p r = −0.27, p = 0.010; TIBC, r = −0.259, p = 0.014). The nomogram was developed by incorporating the following five parameters: age, sex, serum iron concentration, TIBC and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) scores, which showed good discrimination and calibration, with a consistency index of 0.799 (95% confidence interval = 0.732–0.865).ConclusionAbnormal iron metabolism may contribute to apathy in PD, especially among men. TIBC levels in combination with HAMD scores can be effectively used for the prediction of apathetic patients with PD.

However, compared with the corresponding dynamical gates, the robustness of implemented nonadiabatic geometric gates based on the conventional single-loop scheme still has the same order of magnitude due to the requirement of strict multi-segment geometric controls, and the inherent geometric fault-tolerance characteristic is not fully explored. Here, we present an effective geometric scheme combined with a general dynamical-corrected technique, with which the super-robust nonadiabatic geometric quantum gates can be constructed over the conventional single-loop and two-loop composite-pulse strategies, in terms of resisting the systematic error, i.e., $\sigma_x$ error. In addition, combined with the decoherence-free subspace (DFS) coding, the resulting geometric gates can also effectively suppress the $\sigma_z$ error caused by the collective dephasing. Notably, our protocol is a general one with simple experimental setups, which can be potentially implemented in different quantum systems, such as Rydberg atoms, trapped ions and superconducting qubits. Geometric phase has the intrinsic property of being resistant to some types of local noises as it only depends on global properties of the evolution path. Meanwhile, the non-Abelian geometric phase is in the matrix form, and thus can naturally be used to implement high performance quantum gates, i.e., the so-called holonomic quantum computation. This article reviews recent advances in nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation, and focuses on various optimal control approaches that can improve the gate performance, in terms of the gate fidelity and robustness. Besides, we also pay special attention to its possible physical realizations and some concrete examples of experimental realizations. Finally, with all these efforts, within state-of-the-art technology, the performance of the implemented holonomic quantum gates can outperform the conventional dynamical ones, under certain conditions.

This study evaluates high-latitude stratiform mixed-phase clouds (SMPC) in the atmosphere model of the newly released Energy Exascale Earth System Model version 2 (EAMv2) by utilizing one-year-long ground-based remote sensing measurements from the U.S. Department of Energy Atmospheric Radiation and Measurement (ARM) Program. A nudging approach is applied to model simulations for a better comparison with the ARM observations. Observed and modeled SMPCs are collocated to evaluate their macro- and microphysical properties at the ARM North Slope of Alaska (NSA) site in the Arctic and the McMurdo (AWR) site in the Antarctic. We found that EAMv2 overestimates (underestimates) SMPC frequency of occurrence at the NSA (AWR) site nearly all year round. However, the model captures the observed larger cloud frequency of occurrence at the NSA site. For collocated SMPCs, the annual statistics of observed cloud macrophysics are generally reproduced at the NSA site, while at the AWR site, there are larger biases. Compared to the AWR site, the lower cloud boundaries and the warmer cloud top temperature observed at NSA are well simulated. On the other hand, simulated cloud phases are substantially biased at each location. The model largely overestimates liquid water path at NSA, whereas it is frequently underestimated at AWR. Meanwhile, the simulated ice water path is underestimated at NSA, but at AWR, it is comparable to observations. As a result, the observed hemispheric difference in cloud phase partitioning is misrepresented in EAMv2. This study implies that continuous improvement in cloud microphysics is needed for high-latitude mixed-phase clouds.

Objective To investigate the current situation and factors influencing the professional identity of rehabilitation therapy students through questionnaires, and to provide reference for improving students' professional identity and proposing effective coping strategies. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on 189 rehabilitation students in a university in Gansu Province using general information questionnaire and professional identity scale; SPSS26.0 software was used to analyze the data statistically. ResultsThe total score of professional identity of rehabilitation therapy students was (84.76±12.30), and the scores of each dimension were from highest to lowest: affective>cognitive>behavioral>appropriateness. Conclusion The professional identity of rehabilitation therapy students is at a moderate to high level, and the influencing factors include students' education and the way they choose their profession.

AimTo understand the overall levels of stress perception, self-efficacy, and emotional intelligence among Chinese rehabilitation therapy students and to explore the relationship between the three. Methods From October to November 2022, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 145 cases of rehabilitation therapy students at a medical school in Gansu, China, using the Stress Perception Scale, the General Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Emotional Intelligence Scale. Results The total score of perceived stress was (44.33±7.05), the total score of emotional intelligence was (48.06±6.40), and the total score of general self-efficacy was (25.8±6.04), and there was a significant positive correlation between all three (r>0.490,PConclusion Students in rehabilitation therapy had moderate levels of stress perception, emotional intelligence, and general self-efficacy, and emotional intelligence partially mediated the effect between general self-efficacy and stress perception. It is suggested that educators should actively assess the level of stress in rehabilitation therapy majors, pay more attention to students' emotional intelligence, improve self-efficacy, and prepare for the development of targeted intervention programs later.

This work documents version two of the Department of Energy's Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM). E3SMv2 is a significant evolution from its predecessor E3SMv1, resulting in a model that is nearly twice as fast and with a simulated climate that is improved in many metrics. We describe the physical climate model in its lower horizontal resolution configuration consisting of 110 km atmosphere, 165 km land, 0.5° river routing model, and an ocean and sea ice with mesh spacing varying between 60 km in the mid-latitudes and 30 km at the equator and poles. The model performance is evaluated with Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 Diagnosis, Evaluation, and Characterization of Klima simulations augmented with historical simulations as well as simulations to evaluate impacts of different forcing agents. The simulated climate has many realistic features of the climate system, with notable improvements in clouds and precipitation compared to E3SMv1. E3SMv1 suffered from an excessively high equilibrium climate sensitivity (ECS) of 5.3K. In E3SMv2, ECS is reduced to 4.0K which is now within the plausible range based on a recent World Climate Research Program assessment. However, a number of important biases remain including a weak Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, deficiencies in the characteristics and spectral distribution of tropical atmospheric variability, and a significant underestimation of the observed warming in the second half of the historical period. An analysis of single-forcing simulations indicates that correcting the historical temperature bias would require a substantial reduction in the magnitude of the aerosol-related forcing.

In China, environmental regulations in relation to the hog sector are considered a key strategy for reducing pollution; however, these regulations may cause unintended effect that reduce hog production and change the distribution. In this research, we discussed the effect of abrupt campaign-style environmental regulation on the hog industry in China. Using a unique panel of national county-level hog production data, we empirically demonstrate that place-based differentiated environmental regulations lead to an unexpected decline in hog production in some regions. The implementation of central government policy varies in different regions, with restricted development areas subject to stricter environmental regulations compared to key development areas. However, such difference not only exists between provinces, but also within provinces. The results highlight the importance of formulating more refined regulation standards rather than placed-based regulation in China for future reforms, which is essential for maintaining stable production and reducing pollutions at the same time.
