Culture of peace and education work together to shape individual with knowledge, attitudes and behaviors focused on harmony, tolerance, respect, inclusion, and peace. This paper presents a systematic review whose purpose was to identify the lines of study of the culture of peace in secondary education globally during the last decade (2012-2022). The study was based on the PRISMA methodology; 367 articles were collected from the databases of ERIC, Education Source, Academic Search Ultimate, Web of Science and Redalyc. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 27 articles were analyzed. The results obtained reflect that most of the articles focus on the of the peace component in the school curriculum, although scientific production focused on identifying the effects of culture of peace programs was also identified. It is concluded, the study of this topic provides a deeper understanding of how education contributes to the development of citizens committed to peace. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Goals: Understand the relationship that is established among professors, students and assistencial nurses, between the theory and practice of cultural care. Methods: Qualitative, hermeneutic, with a critical approach. A sociodemographic questionnaire, discussion groups and episodic interviews were used. Model: 34 participants: 6 teachers, 11 nurses and 17 students. Results: Three subjects were identified: 1. The theory and practice of cultural care in nursery: the learned knowledge. The cultural care is not formalized in the curriculum, some aspects from the cultural care are included in the theory of the courses. 2. Practice and theory of the cultural care in nursery: the lived experience. The rigid protocols and homogenizers from the health institutions were the major obstacle to specify along the practice of cultural care. 3: The relationship of theory and practice in nursery: what is recognized. Professors and nurses formers of human talent recognize their lack of preparation to form the students in cul-tural care. Conclusions: There is a breach between the theory and the practice around cultural care. It is required to include the cultural care in the curriculum and make it congruent with the theory and the practice, allowing the dialog of knowledge and surpassing not only the communication barriers, but attitudinal and institutional, which were found in the study. This text aims to identify and analyze the challenges in higher education to meet social needs in Colombia. Qualitative research methodology was employed for this purpose. Semi-structured interviews were used as the technique for data collection, and questionnaires were used as instruments. In conclusion, it is determined that higher education faces internal challenges associated with structural factors in the educational process and external challenges linked to the economic system and living conditions of the Colombian population. This work reflects on an extension activity carried out by the students of the Environmental Information Bachelor course of studies and the Lma Iacia Qom native community of San Pedro, Buenos Aires province. Through this action, territorially-based intercultural extension activities were incorporated into the educational path of the degree program. The objective was to generate practices that foster the exchange of knowledge and reflection on how different ways of conceiving and experiencing the world have an impact on environmental configurations and the ways in which we appropriate the territory we inhabit. Additionally, we discuss the institutional and educational impact of this type of action, which may contribute to a comprehensive range of functions within possible curricular processes. Thinking about the re-enchantment of the world and the relevance of everyday curricular creations in this process requires resorting to the phenomenon and process of disenchantment of the world in order to be able to weave a reflection that addresses different aspects of the debate, inserting them into the curricular debate. Therefore, this article resorts to Weber's thinking about the disenchantment produced in and by modern rationality and its dialogue with some of the formulations of possibilities of reenchantment. Through extensive bibliographical research, the different contributions to the reflection on this subject are covered, from Morin and Prigogine with their understanding of the re-enchantment by the renewal of science, to Krenak and Gudynas, who advocate a new relationship with nature, and to Maffesoli and his understanding of the renewal of sociabilities and the use of technologies as ongoing re-enchantments. It is important to emphasize the contribution of Boaventura de Sousa Santos, for the relationship he establishes between the re-enchantment of the world and everyday life - fundamental for thinking about curricular creations - and for his broader approach, which dialogues with all those already mentioned, and with the field of the curriculum. In its final part, based on the different contributions listed, the text briefly examines some curricular creations narrated in academic works in the field of research with everyday schools life, in which contributions to reflection on the theme can be found, as well as relevant initiatives of possible contribution of schools for the re-enchantment of the world. In this article we analyze the selection criteria of the educational practices carried out by students of technical schools and the points of tension that prevail when experiencing it, both by students and by teachers. We state that the criteria of justice are the drivers in the senses deployed by institutional actors, either from the informality of the proposal (in cases where they are not mandatory) or from the effects of its institutionalization (the practice that remains framed in the curriculum proposal). Reading academic texts is a highly demanding experience which requires that one not only comprehends what one reads, but also learns from it. These demands become increasingly common starting in intermediate-level elementary courses. As a consequence, students have to acquire new strategic resources that consist of performing mental actions oriented towards a specific objective (such as selecting only information that meets a certain criterion) in light of certain cues (e.g., a textual expression such as "the primary cause is ..."). We need to understand this challenge in order to provide the instructional support that students require. For this reason, the objective of this paper is to identify the needs of students to use such reading strategies, based on the review of our previous studies. Basically, we show that students find it more difficult to process meta-textual cues to mobilize their strategic courses of action than deploying such courses of action: that is, there is a dissociation between the sensitivity to the cues and the ability to perform the course of action linked to them. They also experience difficulties in remembering reading objectives when they have to select information in accordance with meta-textual cues. This evidence leads us to differentiate between two instructional approaches for students: the first is aimed at helping the students to understand the text they are reading, while the second is aimed at teaching them to understand any text. Background: In the design of the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, several interdisciplinary curricular strategies have been established, for consolidating their preparation as future professionals. Objective: Analyze the implementation of curricular strategies in the first year of the Nursing Degree. Method: A descriptive, retrospective study was carried out taking into account the school years 2017 - 2018 and 2018 - 2019. A participant observation guide was applied during the control visits to the educational teaching process, from class to education at work; as well as in the collective meeting of the year. Fundamental results: Taking into account the functions of the year group and its coordinating role between disciplines, actions were drawn for their implementation based on the subjects that this year of training comprises. Conclusion: The curricular strategy as a particular way of developing the teaching-learning process was characterized by an interrelation between the contents and the theoretical and practical methods corresponding to the study plan, which contributes to a competent future professional formation. In Chilean universities, class failure and dropouts are a big concern among teachers and authorities. The objective of this research was to know the student experiences, who have failed a curricular activity during 2016, in the levels of the II, III, and IV years in a nursing program. This project was carried in a Chilean university and it was authorized by the informed consent and the Ethics Committee. Method. qualitative phenomenological. The sample was obtained by saturation criterion and determined in the study during the collection process and data analysis by the researcher. For data collection, a semi-structured individual interview was conducted to the focus group. The data were analyzed with the point of view of the philosopher Martin Heidegger, and Dr. Patricia Benner. Methodological rigor was accomplished by triangulation. Results. Failure is a cross-sectional process at different levels of undergraduate training which leads to increases in family and country economic expenses. The gap between higher and college education is wide in terms of teaching and learning methodologies, in addition to the academic load of the students. Conclusion. the phenomenon of failing is recognized as a complex and multivariate process, whose meanings are different and with a significant emotional burden, for both the student and the family. This text is interested in the dialogical pedagogical practices carried out with undergraduate classes at the Education Center of the Federal University of Espírito Santo. The theoretical-methodological approach of the article comes close to the thought of Paulo Freire connected with Nilda Alves and Inês Barbosa de Oliveira studies about daily lives. Our desire is to expose the dialogical pedagogical practices as a possibility of creating curriculums in school daily life. In the production of data we have activities in the classroom and in other spaces for socializing, field classes and educational visits, presented here in the form of fictional narratives. With the exercise of concrete situations experienced by historical subjects and thinking/practitioners who intervene in the world and with the world, we affirm as a researchers our political commitment to the ethical and theoretical dimensions of education. For us, loving dialogue and joy are foundations of education as a practice of freedom, and a way of resisting the forms of oppression and power imposed by the authoritarianism of the capitalist patriarchal regime in the contemporary world. A proposta desse artigo busca desinvibilizar as táticas cotidianas de um grupo de professores de uma escola da rede estadual de Ensino Médio, de uma cidade do interior do estado do Acre. Destacase, nessa análise, o currículo e a prática dos professores que pensam/fazem os currículos pensados/praticados nos cotidianos escolares. Introduction: Teaching of virtues occurs in different spaces, one of them is at the university. For the nursing professionals, putting the virtues into practice should be a commitment of professional excellence. Objective: To analyze the knowledge and practice of virtues such as prudence, responsibility and compassion among the nursing students in a public university and to identify their perception regarding the life experience of these virtues among their teachers. Method: This is a qualitative study including semi-structured interviews to 10 students. The analysis used some tools from the Grounded Theory. The ethical requirements of blindness and informed consent were verified. Results: Life experience with these virtues is important and the learning of virtues is more effective with the examples than the theoretical teaching. The virtue evoking more feelings is the compassion. The life experience of the virtues out in the community is not very common. This fact comes across as if the care out in the community is not as important as the clinical experience. Conclusions: The teaching of ethics in the nursing curricular programs should be complemented with life examples by the teachers in all courses. Although the virtues must always be put into practice, maybe it is in the multiple shortage and adverse times when integral professionals should stand out to the most. This work aims to understand the processes that take place during scientific education of students with visual impairments at the middle school level, with the objective of identifying what is needed for an inclusive science education to be achieved. Although scientific and technological education is considered essential for making informed decisions in everyday life, there is no documentation in the Mexican context that reports how science education takes place for students with disabilities. This analysis, carried out within the qualitative tradition, seeks to give voice to the actors who participate in the process: Students, teachers, administrators and teachers of teacher development programs. Data shows that inclusive science education for students with visual impairment is a multifactorial and complex process that holds challenges in the curriculum implementation, teacher preparation, teacher's work conditions, and even participation of the family. The objective of this paper is to analyze the barriers faced by students with disabilities in higher education. This paper is part of a research carried out in two institutions: The National Autonomous University of Mexico and the Juarez Autonomous University of Tabasco. It was a case study research and, as part of it, we interviewed a group of students with disabilities and, at the same time, analyzed institutional policies on inclusion and statistical data. Results showed that students face structural barriers, for example, difficulties to complete institutional procedures and to adjust syllabus contents and learning activities; environmental barriers, such as the lack of accessibility to institutional facilities and to specialized literature; and attitudinal barriers, for instance, the unawareness of teachers, administrative staff and classmates. We conclude that it is necessary to change cultures, policies and institutional practices, through comprehensive strategies in order to increase educational opportunities for these students. This article presents the results of a research project on the reading and writing of Spanish language-level courses at the National University of Colombia (Bogotá) from 2012 to 2013. The article outlines the analysis of course syllabus from a Participatory Action Research methodology and from the contributions of the decolonial turn through the concept of language coloniality. Research results indicated that the courses prioritized the argumentative genre while ignoring the cultural and linguistic practices of the students which reproduced a colonial Eurocentric view on academic reading and writing. Additionally, the syllabus emphasised on the syntactic and grammatical aspects of language literacy which ignored its functional and communicative elements, resulting in a formalistic and corrective view of the language. Based on the research findings, the course syllabus was decolonized as a measure to link the linguistic and cultural practices of the (afro and indigenous) students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The distinctive features of the training system of health professionals and technicians in Cuba are characterized, and the adaptations of the educational models to meet the needs of health services and their adaptation to the socio-economic and scientific-technical environment are described. Education for health is universal, free and is closely linked to the National Health System. The curricula focus on the interrelation between academic training and clinical practice and community activity, whose fundamental form of teaching-learning is based on education at work. The fundamental principle of medical education is the integration of teaching, health care, and research within the health system, which ensures that students are embedded into the teaching-care scenarios through the interaction of the university with society. The curricular plans are based on the main health problems of the population and the environment, with emphasis on primary health care. Since 1959, nearly 350 000 professionals have graduated, including 41 000 foreign students. In addition, more than 30 000 students are trained in 12 countries with the Cuban international medical brigades. Currently, high enrollments increase the teaching-care burden of faculty staff and faculty is subject to frequent changes, representing a challenge to maintaining high-quality training. The scarcity of basic science teachers also affects training. The recruitment of teachers and young tutors needs to be encouraged. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the past five decades there has been an increased in the prevalence of obesity and over weight, also in physical inactivity and /or low cardiorespiratory fitness within the population in school age from diverse regions of the planet, including Bogota-Colombia. The general objective of this study was to compare the physical condition and the levels of physical activity from students who belonged to two curriculum programs of the Public Schools Network from Bogota, one of which includes two sessions per week, each session of 90 minutes of physical activity. We developed a research of unlike cross-sectional groups. There were 178 children evaluated from the regular curriculum and 170 kids belonging to the program 40 x 40. The physical condition was evaluated applying the protocol of high priority from the ALPHA -Fitness test Battery. The weight, height, body mass index, the waist circumference, the standing long jump, the handgrip in both hands and the motor fitness 20 meter shuttle run test were developed under standardized conditions. The Global School Health Survey (GSHS) was used to evaluate the levels of AF. No significant statistical differences were founded between P-40x40 and the regular curriculum regarding: weight, height, the body mass index, the waist circumference, the handgrip in both hands and the explosive strength in lower limbs. Nevertheless the cardiorespiratory fitness was significantly lower within de P-40x40. In conclusion the participation in the curricular program 40 x 40 was not associated with better levels of physical condition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

One of the proposals defended by the European convergence process was a shift in the model of the teaching-learning process which affected the teaching role and the pupil role. Obviously, the put in practice of new teaching ways, new methodologies, should have a reflection in changes of the assessment process so that the evaluation can be adapted to this new idea. In this way, the goal of this article is to go deeper in the evaluation process, more concretely to know in the procedures used to gather information about the learning process of our students and how the way of assessing them has a certain influence in their formation such as oncoming professionals in the field of Pedagogy. For this article, data related to the degree in Pedagogy (Education School) in the University of Murcia have been collected. In particular, we have worked with three different promotions in Pedagogy (two of them from the Bachelor in Pedagogy and another one from the degree in Pedagogy), taking our students experience as a primary source of information. From this analysis we can firstly outline that the combination of two or more procedure to gather varied information about the learning process of the students and secondly, the existing continuity in the use of evaluation procedures in both curriculum, in the evolution from the Bachelor to the Degree in Pedagogy. This paper analyzes how children and teenagers whom we call "reluctant students" are often, anything but reluctant to learn some things. They show all kinds of signs of imaginative participation- but their participation seems unable to connect with the school syllabus. We could wonder: How could we manage to have a curriculum so imaginative and attractive as the world that is exposed to the students? A new answer for some or a lot of those students could come from Lev Vygotsky's research (1962, 1997). His notion of "cognitive tools" gives us a way to explore how we could capture and involve those students' imagination to make them see that, what is really wonderful and engaging in the syllabus, could be learnt by anyone and could be turned into a cognitive tool. In this paper we shall see how the cognitive tools to make up stories, the binary opposites and the images generated through words, could be used in a new way. Each of them was at one point, a considerable important cultural invention, and each of them turns now, into a potential cognitive tool to increase our ability to think, communicate and understand. The study consisted of a first diagnosis for the recreation area of the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED), by means of the application of interviews to the personnel in charge of the cultural and sports program of the institution. From the results of this diagnosis, an organizational proposal was designed and presented, that included basic administrative aspects like: the mission, the vision, objectives, structure within the institution (organizational chart), as well as the respective regulation oriented to give functionality to the recreation area. It is important to emphasize that the student population will be the one that directly benefits from the projects that the recreation area puts into place. Thus this population is considered important in the development of this project. For these effects, a questionnaire is applied to the UNED students of the San José University Center, with the objective to obtain different criteria and opinions about the recreational activities. The answers that arise from this study show the interests and agreement of the students. It will serve two purposes. It will be used as a basis for future recreational projects, specifically in the San José University Center, and it will generate greater evidence about the necessity of a recreation area in the University, which fortifies the justification of the proposal and the recommendations of the present project. This document establishes a precedent of importance for all those institutions that wish to fortify or create a recreation area, since it orients the process of how to do it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Integration of Career Education in the curriculum depends, to a high extent, on the degree of participation and implication of teaching staff. Nevertheless, we find a high teaching staff resistance to getting involved in a Career Education approach (in spite of its multiple opportunities: offering students help to improve their knowledge about themselves, and about academic and work issues). In addition teachers have the opportunity to develop curricular adaptations for a quality education, relevant and significant, which will allow young people to gradually construct their personal life project. Nevertheless if the resistance of teaching staff is not overcome, Career Education will have a limited scope, academic matters will lose their career dimension; and, to sum up, integral education for young people will still just be an old desideratum of the educational system. This article is about some final reflections of a curricular investigation. We started working with the conceptions our students had about authority. We could see the focus was on the experts who wrote the school texts and on our own ideas regarding knowledge and authority. We also found out that teachers used mainly school text books to organize their practice and that they selected them because of the amount of activities they had. This "ingenuous" point of view does not consider text books as cultural products. When we analyzed these texts we could see they presented so many contents that they surpassed the number of classes available in a year. We could also observe that these contents had no relation with the students cultural experience and that they did not help them develop a reflective comprehension, keeping aside some voices as those of women, ethnic groups, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
