- Abstract
The pulp and paper sector has a notable highlight in the Brazilian economy, contributing significantly to the trade balance, job creation and investments. Currently, the sector basically uses wood from two genus to produce pulp for the short fiber and long fiber segments, Eucalyptus and Pinus, respectively. However, it's essential to study new raw materials, which may arise as an alternative to those already consolidated. In this sense, the objective is to evaluate the properties of Liquidambar styraciflua wood for the pulp and paper production. For this, five 7-year-old trees were used, from which discs were extracted along the trunk to evaluate the basic density, chemical composition and morphology of the wood fibers. The mean and weighted basic density values obtained for L. styraciflua wood were 0.482 and 0.484 g/cm², respectively, which allowed classifying it as medium density, a value close to that of other hardwood species used for pulp production. Regarding the chemical composition, low levels of ash (0.29%) and lignin (24.71%) and high levels of holocellulose (70.88%) and extractives (4.40%) were observed. As for the morphological characterization of the fibers, the mean values of length of 1.82 mm, width of 27.84 µm, lumen diameter of 16.10 µm and wall thickness of 5.87 µm were observed. In addition, mean values of 42.60%, 57.40%, 0.77 and 65.22 were obtained for the parameters of wall fraction, flexibility coefficient, Runkel index and felting index, respectively. In general, based on the physical-chemical-anatomical characteristics obtained for the L. styraciflua wood, it's concluded that it has aptitude for the pulp and paper production. - Abstract
The process of continuously updating technologies, processes, and products has placed innovation at the center of the discussions of different institutions. Once the need to remain competitive, and beyond that, to be at the forefront of these modifications has become something necessary for the survival of organizations, the process of renewing project portfolios, as well as their management, is fundamental to tread the path towards innovation. Several methodologies are available to promote the generation of ideas and enhance the processes already underway. Among these, the Tecnology Roadmap (TRM) is an important tool for collecting ideas, helping in the process of strategic formulation, as well as in the definition of actions related to the planning of new products, processes and technologies. The use of the TRM methodology allowed a company in the metal-mechanic segment to delineate its project portfolio from the collection and prioritization of ideas in a collaborative way. Thus, the hot forming process was considered in 2019 as a process aligned to the company's strategic direction, being prioritized and incorporated to the project portfolio. From the use of test specimens with 22MnB5 hot forming steel with 8.00 mm thickness, through the analysis of cooling rate, microstructure, and microhardness, it was possible to verify satisfactory mechanical and metallurgical behavior, enabling the use of steel for commercial road vehicle structures. - Abstract
Organizations remain competitive through investments in technology or changes in the production line, focusing on lean production. In a nutshell, companies evolve by adapting to new ways of work processes. To support innovation and maximize production with better use of inputs, the concept of Lean Manufacturing arose. Originally, Lean Manufacturing appears in the Toyota company, being recognized and used by companies around the world to optimize production processes. This paper discusses the implementation of some Lean Manufacturing tools in a company in the paper industry to identify and eliminate production bottlenecks, optimizing the manufacturing flow. In the form of a case study, methodologically, as an applied research, the Mario Bunge's CESM model (Composition, Environment, Structure and Mechanism) is used for understanding the production process as a system and facilitate the analysis of inherent phenomena. Based on some experiments, it is pointed out that the adoption of Lean Manufacturing tools allows optimizing the productive process of the organization under investigation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The existence of neutron stars was suggested soon after the discovery of such particles, and it soon became clear that Newtonian physics was innapropriate to study such stars. The problem was initially addressed by Richard C. Tolman, whose results were used by J. Robert Oppenheimer and George M. Volkoff for the deduction of what is known as Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation. This equation represents the hydrostatic equilibrium of a sphere of perfect fluid in the relativistic regime and, when combined with a suitable equation of state, yields a mathematical model for neutron stars. This paper presents the deduction of the TOV equation in a detailed and didactic way, since the treatment of Einstein's equations of general relativity (GR) until the application to the case where the star is made up of a Fermi gas of degenerate neutrons, whence we can deduce that there is a maximum mass possible for such objects. Although today we know that the Fermi gas model is by itself unsuitable in this case, the analysis is interesting from the historic and didactic viewpoint, once it consists in a fairly simple example of application of an equation of state to the calculations of the structure of neutron stars. - Abstract
The nurse is the main link for the patient's adaptation to his health condition. Based on observations, actions and clarifications from the former, the latter can understand what affects their health status, adopt practices or manage the new condition, and even perform self-care. The role modeling theory developed by Helen Erickson, Evelyn Tomlin and Mary Swain portrays the nurse-patient interaction and caring as an instrument for adapting to the health situation. With the objective of knowing the scientific production that applies it in women's health care. An integrative review study was carried out on productions published between 1998 and 2016, in international journals, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, using the VHL Nursing, PubMed and Scopus platforms. Among the articles found, four were selected for analysis that addressed women's health care and the use of theory. It was observed the flexibility of adoption of the same in studies of assistance to the health of the parturient, of the chemical dependent, in addition to the prevention of diseases to the women's health. The usefulness of paper modeling and its potential for teaching and research promoting self-efficacy in women's health can be seen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article aims to examine the themes produced by students in the research paper projects of the Pedagogy course, in Distance Education modality. This research is qualitative, of documentary character. The results of the analysis indicate that students prefer to frequent themes from academic literature (ludic). It was also noticed the insufficiency or absence of the theoretical framework in the projects. The methodology used by the students was, primarily, those of bibliographic and documentary nature. Regarding the sources, it was found difficulties in defining the search websites. During the writing of the project, students used non-scientific websites, such as blogs, portals and / or news reports. The analysis of the writing of the works evidenced difficulties of the students in relation to writing texts. It concludes the importance of the professor advisor, since the very beginning of the elaboration of research projects, once it is up to the professors to instrumentalize the students for the construction of cohesive and consistent theoretical and methodological references. STORAGE - Abstract
The present work sought to analyze and suggest improvements to the goods distribution process carried out by the goods distribution center of a food retail company, formed by four self-service stores, located in the city of Santa Maria, in Rio Grande do Sul. case study is characterized as a descriptive research, with a qualitative approach. For data collection, a bibliographic review was first carried out in order to understand concepts about the proposed theme in a second moment, the data survey was carried out through interviews and local observation. The results made it possible to identify and describe the macroprocess of distribution of goods that is pre-defined, which is composed of the subprocesses of receiving, storage and shipping, but all occur in an organic way, without any type of descriptive script or graphic diagram, formalized. Therefore, the implementation of the BPMN diagram, made it possible to clearly visualize the flow of the activities of the Distribution Center, thus making it possible to formalize its activities in future training of conferring employees. VIOLENT deaths , *VIOLENCE , *PERIODICAL publishing , *VICTIMS , *RACISM - Abstract
This paper aims to understand how violent deaths suffered by common people and their media coverage are approached in the field of Communication, focusing on the sense-making processes about violence and its structural nature. In order to do so, we analysed papers about the media coverage around murders, published in 26 journals in the field of Communication, classified as A2 and B1 in the Brazilian "Qualis Capes" ranking. Based on the ways of identifying the victims and the circumstances of their deaths, in interaction with the ways of naming such violence, presented in the papers' empirical and analytical dimensions, we designed an overview of the silences and absences in the epistemic constructions about violence in media and academia in Brazil. Paper Kinship: Law, Power and Resistance in an Ethnographic Scene with Foreign Migrants starts from an "ethnographic scene" with foreign migrants in a lawyer's office to discuss the role that migratory documents play on kinship in the transnational movement. By doing this, it highlights how the state and the Law discipline these relations and how migrants themselves, using the legal logic of documentary production, elaborate themselves as persons, in resistance to state power. Based on this experience, named here as paper kinship, a reelaboration of the concept of document is proposed, encompassing both the bureaucratic agency and that of the subjects of documentation. TEACHER education , *MATHEMATICS teachers , *MATHEMATICS education , *GRADUATE students , *MATHEMATICAL research , *DIDACTIC literature , *MATHEMATICAL literature - Abstract
This article focuses on initial teacher education, in the development of teaching study tasks, especially related to the end-of-course work. The research question is: Which reasons support the mathematics undergraduates' choices for the theme and development of the end-of-course work? In connection with the problem, this research analyzes the reasons that justify undergraduates' choices in the production of that work. The text is based on historical-cultural theory, with emphasis on the psychological and didactic principles of activity theory, on the development of students' reasons and meanings when faced with the social meanings of initial education. The methodology is developed through a formative pedagogical intervention carried out with two mathematics undergraduate students. The data production has an empirical reference in the transcripts of interviews and moments of collective advice for the development of academic work materialized in article format. The analysis is carried out from the perspective of historical-dialectical materialism, which demonstrates results through the reasons that lead students to create meanings of their experiences in the development of initial training, especially during the training processes throughout graduation. In addition to these cases, the persuasion of peers was also observed, demonstrating relationships on the theoretical-methodological/ideological orientations in their perceptions about the pedagogical activity in the interventions carried out. 3-D printers , *RAPID prototyping , *THREE-dimensional printing , *ANTHROPOLOGY , *SPATIAL analysis (Statistics) - Abstract
In this article we aim to analyze the effective practices of students in the 2nd grade of high school when they perform tasks on the representation of geometric solids in the paper/pencil environment, based on the manipulation of Concrete Object Construction Project (PCOC) models, obtained by rapid prototyping on the 3D printer. For that, we appropriated the Institutional Analysis and Didactic Sequence as a research methodology. We immerse our studies in the theoretical framework constituted by the Anthropology Theory of Didactics, with emphasis on its praxeological approach, to provide us with elements of analysis of the techno-theoretical techniques and speeches in Spatial Geometry, mobilized by the students in their effective practices. The results reveal that students can represent the solids considered in the paper/pencil environment but do not indicate or describe the techniques they use in the referred representations during their effective practices. Therefore, this is a problem of the reference institution, particularly the 2nd grade of high school, which does not provide training to students involving the indications and descriptions, as we proceeded in developing our a priori analysis around the PCOCs that we worked on with these students. YOUNG'S modulus , *STRAINS & stresses (Mechanics) , *DEFORMATIONS (Mechanics) , *HANDWRITING , *WRIST , *OPTICAL coherence tomography - Abstract
In this work, we present a methodology to assess wrist pressure during the handwriting process. Using optical coherence tomography, it was possible to determine the deformation suffered by the paper during the handwriting process. A calibration of the deformation suffered by the paper as a function of the pressure exerted by the pen was performed, making it possible to determine several parameters of interest, such as the radius of the pen tip sphere R = 488 ± 2 ¡im, the Poisson coefficient v = 0.30 ± 0.02 and the effective Young's modulus of bond paper 75 g/m2. To this end, we developed a method for determining the Hooke modulus for a spring, with which we built a device for applying a known force to a ballpoint pen during the handwriting process. We also performed the study depending on the type of substrate, with five volunteers trying to copy the same signature on four different types of paper. Using the optical coherence tomography technique, we demonstrate that it is possible to differentiate the authorship of a signature also by the depth of deformation on the paper. The experimental procedure also made it possible to determine the Poisson's coefficient and determine the effective Young's Modulus of the paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to analyze a high-impact management article to understand the contribution of rhetoric in it. To this end, we selected the most cited study in research about TQM in 25 years, the article on strategy "The capabilities of market-driven organizations", by George S. Day (1994). To ground this analysis, a theoretical framework was developed mainly considering the rhetorical concepts of speaker, auditorium, agreement, and types of argument, as elaborated by Perelman and Olbrechts-Tyteca (2010). Finally, the results showed that Day used rhetorical tools - such as the arguments of example, authority and reciprocity - consistently throughout the article, thus increasing the adhesion to his thesis, which may have contributed to the success and repercussion achieved by the author. Although they are pegged to receive, emergencies occur with some frequency and sometimes cannot be "predicted" or even when emergency situations occur they become crucial and can save an organization from a harmful disbursement. However, most urgent purchases are oriented toward the low or inexistent planning, which, in addition to the economic factor in increasing the value of the good or the service, affects the areas involved, and even the image of the organization, the environmental and safety factors. Thus, the cause of emergencies becomes an indication and the negotiations can mean reduction of millions in expenses of large industries. Thus, the study became systemic in the emergency purchases of a large Brazilian pulp and paper producer, in addition, a methodology that allowed the reduction of planting and application costs. As a result, the goal of a 10% reduction in emerging expenditures in 2018 when compared to the previous year. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Revista de la Universidad Técnica del Estado (1969–1973) was an academic periodical publication. Its aim was to disseminate the institution’s processes of transformation, which drew from the university reform movement. The periodical was immersed in the period of political transition, from the Christian democratic regime of Eduardo Frei Montalva to the socialist government programs of Salvador Allende. Its editorial production and printing processes were handled by the Universidad Técnica del Estado’s editorial department and graphic workshop, respectively—areas of the university whose work extended beyond institutional walls. This article aims to establish a dialogue between the publication and its political-educational context through reviewing a variety of topics, authors, and writing styles. Finally, it seeks to make visible the dynamics and experiences of the journal’s design work through analyzing visual production (covers and part-title pages) and the previously unpublished testimonials of the group of designers responsible for each issue. The text aims to analyze the territorialization of the capital in Alagoa's agrarian space through the expansion of the wood-paper-cellulose complex. During a long period the monoculture of sugar cane occupied the best lands of the State, however within the last few years in the face of the sugar-ethanol sector crisis, extensive hectares of land, once designed to grasses, have been set as ide space to Eucalyptus monoculture. The phenomenon is inserted as part of the globalized accumulation of capitals context, in which capitalist stake possession of lands between the tropics for the monoculture of commercial trees, combining the trade of commodities, and to the financial capital. It is assumed that the extraordinary soil and climatic conditions found in Alagoas and the support offered by the State act as an incentive to the partial replacement the sugar cane for eucalyptus. DIGITAL natives , *DISCOURSE , *POSSIBILITY - Abstract
The present study aims to analyze how the digital environment has influenced the production of a specific genre: the paper presentation in scientific events. Thus, based on a brief overview of studies around the notion of genre (Voloschinov, 1997; Adam, 2001; Adam and Heidman, 2011, Marcuschi, 2008), we seek to point out to what extent this genre maintains or not its characteristics in the face of technodiscursive affordances (Paveau, 2017) in the online production mode. For this, we started by analyzing three presentations made during the Linguistweets event, organized by ABRALIN, on Twitter. The analysis of the productions allowed us to trace a continuum of possibilities of appropriation of the technodiscursive potentialities afforded by the platform from two poles. One tends to maintain a more traditional model of this genre, and the other moves towards its updating. These emerge from the way the readwriters mobilize Twitter's technodiscursive affordances. Thus, we verify, on the one hand, the maintenance of certain characteristics of offline presentations and, on the other hand, the production of multi/delinearized presentations, marked by relationality, by enunciative augmentation, by more horizontal and symmetrical dynamics, which characterize, therefore, the digital native discourses. - Abstract
With the intention of following international changes in accounting practices, the Federal Accounting Council created, in 2005, through Resolution 1.055/05, the Accounting Pronouncements Committee, with the aim of centralizing the preparation of accounting standards in Brazil. Brazilian regulatory bodies approved CPC 29, in 2009, which deals with accounting treatment and disclosure of biological assets and agricultural products. Thus, the objective of this study was to find out what information the companies in the paper and cellulose segment, listed on B3 S.A., disclose about Biological Assets. Five companies with a balance of biological assets were analyzed in the financial statements, from 2010 to 2017. From an analysis structure, 11 items were observed to be followed by the companies, for the disclosure of biological assets, in accordance with the CPC 29. The results show that most companies chose to measure, initially, their biological assets at fair value. The five companies, from the period 2012 to 2017, showed 100% compliance with eight of the nine items to be disclosed, required by CPC 29, related to measurement at fair value. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to investigate the Compós' WG papers: Epistemology of Communication and Communication and Cyberculture. The objective is to test the hypothesis that the field of communication in Brazil is still not very sensitive to neomaterialists theories, and that approaches to objects and to the field as a whole are developed under an anthropocentric perspective. 60 papers were analyzed. The data show that among the 37 texts with evident epistemological position, 62% are anthropocentric, and 13% non-anthropocentric, 50% are in Communication and Cyberculture WG, and 71% in Epistemology of Communication WG. Due to the non-probabilistic approach used in this investigation, we cannot generalize the findings. However, the results support our hypothesis, pointing out that although it is rising, anthropocentric perspectives still predominate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ten years ago the first version of the guiding document of the National Curriculum Guidelines (DCNs) was published, for the formation of bachelors in Journalism, and no longer in Social Communication. Almost simultaneously, the Supreme Court announced the end of the diploma requirement for professional practice. These apparently antagonistic facts impacted the demand for the course, the professional identity and the profile of the Brazilian journalist in the second decade of the third millennium. From the observation of the Undergraduate Conclusion Papers (TCCs), prepared by future bachelors in Journalism - and no longer in Social Communication, graduated at the Niterói campus of Estácio de Sá University, between 2014-2018, we sought to identify theoretical and perceptions of the changing professional identity. In order to analyze the structural arrangement of the book, this paper presents it as words converted into images and takes the essay "Voyage on The North Sea", by Rosalind Krauss (1999), as a foundation to the understanding of this singular literature work related to audiovisual. Besides noting the aesthetic efficacy of a written book that can be an image art, as conclusions, I suggest that the work seems to point to the relationship between humanity, literature and image as ever closer,. RELIGIOUS studies - Abstract
The paper analyzes the intellectual production of undergraduated students of the Degree course in Religious Studies at the University of the State of Pará, in particular that emerging from Course Conclusion Papers from 2004 to 2019. It investigates the privileged themes and the space Amazon religions occupy in these Papers. It results from a bibliographic research in the style of studies on the state of knowledge, whose objective is to analyze the intellectual production of a given area of knowledge, in this case Religious Studies. Theoretically, it is based on Candau's (2003) and Fleuri's (2006) ideas on interculturality, understood as a way to build a more democratic society that respects cultural diversity. Its conclusion is that most of these productions do not encompass the local religious diversity, the reason why it highlights the need for more research that focuses on the Amazon religions. - Abstract
Paulo Freire is the most cited author in bibliographic references of papers in the Brazilian area of Science Education destined for teacher training. However, analytical-contextual knowledge on this is lacking and still requires further investigation. For example, what would be the profile of the citations? In which types of citations does Freire appear? For what purpose? Why? To answer most of these questions, this study aims to analyze Paulo Freire citations in papers from the Brazilian area of Science Education. We carried out a Bibliometric survey where we analyzed citations. We researched five journals: Ciência & Educação, Ensaio Pesquisa em Educação em Ciências, Investigações em Ensino de Ciências, Revista Brasileira de Pesquisa em Educação em Ciências, and Alexandria: Revista de Educação em Ciência e Tecnologia. If Freire's ideas have been challenged within the restricted environment of a few political parties in Brazil, in the area of scientific knowledge there was an opposite effect: in research on teacher training in the Brazilian area of Science Education, Paulo Freire's theoretical and methodological contributions prevailed quantitatively and qualitatively in citations characterized as organic, conceptual, evolutionary and confirmatory. COWPEA , *PAPER bags , *SEED quality , *GENOTYPES , *SEEDS , *GERMINATION - Abstract
Knowing the physiological potential of seeds under certain conditions and storage periods is essential to ensure their availability with adequate quality, as well as information on more productive genotypes. Thus, this work was carried out to analyze the quality of seeds of different cowpea genotypes stored in bags of multifolium paper in a cold chamber during a period of 48 months and subsequently to evaluate the yield potential in the field. For this, two studies were conducted, both at the Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (UESB), campus of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil. The first stage was carried out in the laboratory with seed quality evaluation and the second stage was carried out in the field with evaluation of phytotechnical parameters of the genotypes of plants originated from seeds stored. The treatments consisted of eight genotypes of cowpea, of which five were cultivars (BRS Guariba, BRS Novaera, BRS Tumucumaque, BRS Itaim, BRS Cauamé) and three lines (MNC04-769F-49, MNC04-769F-62, MNC04-795F-159). The main conclusions of both experiments were that the seeds conserved in a cold chamber for 48 months did not suffer depreciation in quality, vigor and germination capacity, as well as the plants originated from these seeds also showed satisfactory yield, especially the line MNC04-769F-62. This article aims to analyze three types of syntactic structures with the verb acabar in Brazilian Portuguese: those with the verb acabar followed by a gerund clause (eu acabei escrevendo o artigo - I ended up writing the paper); those in which the same verb is followed by the preposition por and an infinitive clause (eu acabei por escrever o artigo - I ended up writing the paper (I finished for write the paper)); and those in which the verb is followed by a finite CP (acabou que eu escrevi o artigo - I ended up writing the paper (finished that I wrote the paper)). The three structures convey a close meaning, which includes a set of circumstances or events implied or mentioned in the context that culminates or causes the event expressed by the clause following the verb acabar, and in the three constructions the verb acabar behaves as a typical raising verb. The work argues that in the syntactic context of these three types of phrasal complement the meaning of the root of the verb acabar includes a superevent, let us call it S, which brings together the set of circumstances or events referred to above, and establishes that such set culminates or causes the event (or a state resulting or associated with such an event) conveyed by the complement clause. The paper also shows that the different phrasal complements can establish distinct temporal relationships between the culmination of the superevent S and the time of the event expressed by the subordinate clause, and also have distinct syntactic properties, such as the possibility of topicalization or contrastive focusing within the subordinate clause, in its left periphery. This paper analyses the efforts of Salazar regime to "monopolize the legitimate means of people movement" (TORPEY, 2005) by showing that, during the Portuguese New State, the emigration control reached an apex on two circumstances in which the authorities had prohibited the boarding of some migrants who were ready to legally leave the country. The desperate letters written by some Portuguese families, who were forbidden to emigrate to São Paulo´s farms in 1938, and by those subjects prohibited to leave Portugal due to the 1947´s law demonstrate the materiality of boards made of decrees and ministerial dispatches signed by an authoritarian government. GEOGRAPHY teachers , *HUMAN ecology , *BACHELOR'S degree , *TEACHER training , *DOMESTIC violence , *VIOLENCE against women - Abstract
This article presents an experience report about the difficulties faced by an undergraduate student of the bachelor's degree in Geography at the Federal Institute of Bahia (IFBA), to elaborate her final term paper, addressing the theme of gender issues, particularly on domestic violence against women. Given the need to seek for transforming and combating some conceptions rooted in this patriarchal, chauvinist, sexist and racist society, it is essential to put in the center of the academic discussions and reflections issues that afflict women, since the University is an important space for the deconstruction of paradigms. In this sense, this article aims to "provoke" Geography teachers and students to think/research on this subject. Such themes are not only important, but fundamental and should be treated/discussed in academic spaces, especially in the context of teacher training programs in Geography, which has as its object of study the geographical space and the relations between human beings and their environment. even demanding, therefore, that people who act as teachers be professionals prepared/formed to deconstruct "patriarchal" models and patterns that subdue and subjugate women. This article examines the literary productions of "Chico hard, ink and paper" and how the process of crossing, or transposition of languages, present in their narrative structures, configures the signature of their new writing project. Therefore, we opted for a comparative study that happens in three different fronts: in the first, by problematizing categories such as translation, signature and writing, we seek to map the categories of thought that give theoretical support to the aesthetic work undertaken by Chico Buarque. In the second, we aim to demonstrate how the narrative structure of the novel Budapest is constructed through a mirror metaphor, in which cinema presents itself as the double of literature. Finally, we question how Chico Buarque's narratives can be metonymy of a contemporary Brazilian literary cartography that is characterized mainly by the intense processes of crossing and breaking borders. Considering that researchers can carry out subtle and complex ways of elaborating the words of others (BAZERMAN, 2011) in the writing of academic-scientific texts, we intend to examine, in this study, forms of dialogue with the words of others in the writing of scientific articles produced by young researchers. Based on theoretical assumptions of the Bakhtin Circle about the dialogical approach of language and on papers that discuss academic-scientific writing, we have analyzed a corpus composed of 10 scientific articles produced by master's students. The results have indicated that, in the process of appropriation of scientific writing by the young researcher, the dialogue with the word of another in its interdiscursive dimension is marked, in a stressed way, by quotative practices with arrangements that, in terms of form and content, are not always considered acceptable from the point of view of academic-scientific conventions. WASTE recycling , *WASTE management , *WOMEN'S hospitals , *PUBLIC hospitals , *HEALTH services administration - Abstract
Most of Health Services Waste (HSW) is similar to household waste. Therefore the proper waste segregation avoids the contamination of ordinary waste and that reduces the potential risk to public health, besides providing the recovery of recycling waste. Our main objective with this study was to promote the recovery of paper and to evaluate the disposal of recyclable waste or the reuse of the containers of infectious waste, in the maternity of a public hospital, located in São Paulo city. With this, a secondary objective was to promote the recovery of paper in such an environment. The initiative to recover recyclable paper took place in two stages: a period without orientation and a period with it. In the period without orientation we observed the loss of recyclable waste, due to the potential of contamination by the presence of infectious waste. On the other hand, during the period under orientation, the contamination of the wastes was avoided although inadequate segregation of other recyclable waste, such as plastic, occurred. In the containers of group A (infecting waste), we recorded 340 occurrences of waste that could be recycled or reused. Irregularities in the segregation stage demonstrate the need for continuing education programs on the importance of recycling and of proper segregation of HSW. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This text deals with the woman (non)concept in the ontological history of informing, whose figure is the formless. It addresses the marginal question of the feminine and its declassified condition in the broad lines of Western thought, especially in the view of Aristotle and, for the time being, also of Socrates (or Plato). As an argument, it outlines the formless as a blot in the concept of information and, in parallel, presents women as a marginalia simultaneous in this process of Western obliteration. Finally, it marks a reminder in the conceptual history of information. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The current stellar evolution models establish that stars which have up to approximately eight times the solar mass yield white dwarfs at the end of their lifes. Works appeared at the 1920s described such objects as formed essentially by a gas of electrons and nucleons, where the force of its degeneracy pressure equalized the gravitational contraction, giving rise to stable bodies with high densities. At the 1930s Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar launched his approach to the white dwarf problem in papers where he deduced the densities and the maximum mass allowed for those stars. Such a maximum value is known nowadays as the Chandrasekhar limit and the aim here is to analyze the original papers by its discoverer, presenting in a didactic form the steps which led to the deduction of that important result. This paper is the product of doctoral research and aims to introduce the discussion and analysis of Ubuntu and traditional African philosophy as a contribution to thinking about the fragmentation of democracy in Latin America, giving way to the role that African movements and organizations have in assuming a political and ethical struggle to build a relational democracy as a necessary proposal to the crisis of liberal democracy. The methodology consists of a bibliographic review of literature and intellectuals from the social sciences and African thought to highlight a trend that is not only framed in the questioning of the democratic model in force in Latin America, but also provides some clues for the construction of a community society project in the region, based on relational ontology. It concludes that, in the crisis of the Western political model, the struggles of Afro-descendant movements must transcend the logic of strengthening liberal democracy, to propose the ethical path of Ubuntu as a route to deconstruct the political and societal structures in place, promoting a message of humanity. - Abstract
Nowadays, organizations face strong competition, making it essential to look for new ways of operating in the market. One of the strategies they use to survive is to internationalize their businesses. Given its importance, the aim of this research was to draw up an overview of publications on internationalization on the Scopus scientific database, considering the time frame from January 2013 to December 2023. The research, which took a quantitative approach, searched for papers with the word "internationalization" in the title, abstract and keywords in the Scopus database using the RStudio, Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny tools. To this end, we opted for a study characterized as bibliometric research using data collected from the databases. At the end of the collection, the corpus of the research was 40 articles, including articles from national and international journals. It can be said that the topic needs more research due to its importance for organizations. It was also observed that most of the papers published in these databases are concentrated in Brazil and Colombia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The construction of the BR101 highway in the late 1960s, connecting the Brazilian States of Espírito Santo (ES) and Bahia (BA), culminated in an intense process of exploration of native wood in the region, followed by pasture areas, which were later substituted by eucalyptus plantations for cellulose and paper production. The objective of this study is to present the environmental conflicts caused by the eucalyptus monoculture in the north of ES and south of BA states. There is also a consideration about the problems caused by the introduction of eucalyptus monoculture in this area, to provide the cellulose sector. This study presents a bibliographical review that analyzes the studies of Henri Acselrad and the Social Observatory which discuss the issues caused by the advance of eucalyptus monoculture in quilombola and indigenous communities in the same area of the present study. Both also make analyses of the documents provided by the cellulose companies' operating in this area. The conflicts between the communities and the companies involve the occupation of the soil, as well as the advance of the eucalyptus monoculture over the communities' land, a reality that has triggered resistance movements from these groups in the face of the expansion of the industries' activity in the region. The sludge generated in the paper recycling industries presents characteristics of a fibrous mass of brown color, being classified as residue II A - no inert. Previously, most of the industries have had the landfill as the final form of disposal of this kind of waste. However, nowadays, the companies are looking for better usable alternatives for those residues, as the treatment for using the residues as inputs in other processes and products, with the intention to avoid or to reduce environmental liabilities. In this context, the aim of the present work was the study of a biological treatment for the paper recycling sludge, through the construction, operation and monitoring of windrow composting. Due to the intrinsic characteristics of the sludge, as low C/N ratio and high content of nitrogen, it had been necessary to add residue of pruning and weeding and sugarcane bagasse in the experiments to reach appropriate values for the composting. At the end of the experiment, the residue of pruning and weeding with sludge composting, generated an organic compost, potentially usable as a fertilizer, which complies to the established values for the Ministry of Agriculture, instituted by the Instruction Normative n° 25 of 23/07/2009.
