We consider the non-perturbative renormalization group (RG) equations, obtained as approximations of the exact Wetterich RG flow equation within the Blaizot–Mendez–Wschebor (BMW) truncation scheme. For the first time, we derive explicit RG flow equations for the scalar model at the arbitrary order of truncation. Moreover, we consider original, as well as modified, approximations, used to obtain a set of closed equations. We compare these equations at the s = 2 order of truncation with those recently derived in J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 53, 415002 (2020) within a new truncation scheme and find a striking similarity. Namely, the first-order equations of the latter scheme, those of the original BMW scheme, and those of the modified BMW scheme (at s = 2) differ only in one term. We solved these equations by a recently proposed and tested method of semi-analytic approximations. Thus, the critical exponents η, ν, and ω were evaluated, recovering also the known results of the original BMW scheme. In addition, we estimated the subleading correction-to-scaling exponent ω2 for the three equations considered. To the best of our knowledge, this exponent has not yet been extracted from the Wetterich equation beyond the local potential (the zeroth order) approximation. Our current estimate for the 3D Ising model is ω2 = 2.02 (40), where the error bars include the expected truncation error in the BMW scheme.

An analogy of the Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) with the Schrödinger equation allows us to use quantum mechanics technique to find the analytical solution of the FPE in a number of cases. However, previous studies have been limited to the Schrodinger potential with discrete eigenvalue spectrum. Here we will show how this approach can be applied also for mixed eigenvalue spectrum with bounded and free states. We solve the FPE with boundaries located at x=±L/2 and take the limit L→∞, considering examples with constant Schrödinger potential and with Pöschl-Teller potential. An oversimplified approach has been earlier proposed by M.T. Araujo and E. Drigo Filho. A detailed investigation of the two examples shows that the correct solution, obtained in this paper, is consistent with the expected Fokker-Planck dynamics.

Monte Carlo (MC) analysis of the Goldstone mode singularities for the transverse and the longitudinal correlation functions, behaving as G⊥ (k) ≅ a k-λ⊥ and G|| (k) ≅ b k-λ|| in the ordered phase at k → 0, is performed in the three-dimensional O(n) models with n=2, 4, 10. Our aim is to test some challenging theoretical predictions, according to which the exponents λ⊥ and λ|| are non-trivial (3/2⊥||2/a2 (where M is a spontaneous magnetization) is universal. The trivial standard-theoretical values are λ⊥=2 and λ||=1. Our earlier MC analysis gives λ⊥=1.955 ± 0.020 and λ|| about 0.9 for the O(4) model. A recent MC estimation of λ||, assuming corrections to scaling of the standard theory, yields λ|| = 0.69 ± 0.10 for the O(2) model. Currently, we have performed a similar MC estimation for the O(10) model, yielding λ⊥ = 1.9723(90). We have observed that the plot of the effective transverse exponent for the O(4) model is systematically shifted down with respect to the same plot for the O(10) model by Δ λ⊥ = 0.0121(52). It is consistent with the idea that 2-λ⊥ decreases for large n and tends to zero at n → ∞. We have also verified and confirmed the expected universality of b M2/a2 for the O(4) model, where simulations at two different temperatures (couplings) have been performed.

We consider several ways of how one could classify the various types of soliton solutions related to multicomponent nonlinear evolution equations which are solvable by the inverse scattering method for the generalized Zakharov-Shabat system related to a simple Lie algebra g. In doing so we make use of the fundamental analytic solutions, the Zakharov-Shabat dressing procedure, the reduction technique and other tools characteristic for that method. The multicomponent solitons are characterized by several important factors: the subalgebras of g and the way these subalgebras are embedded in g, the dimension of the corresponding eigensubspaces of the Lax operator L, as well as by additional constraints imposed by reductions. The Pathology Unit of the German Primate Center started as the working group of Experimental Pathology in 1992. This small group with one veterinary pathologist and a technician was founded based on an idea of Prof. Dr. Kuhn, who wanted to strengthen the pathology research activities and to establish a centralized electron microscopy laboratory. Later on, experimental pathology, veterinary services and primate husbandry were integrated as the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Primate Husbandry but subsequently again separated. Prof. Dr. Franz-Josef Kaup, the head of the previously integrated department, remained in his capacity as the leader of the different units. Over the years, the research activities have changed from SIV-associated pathology to other infectious diseases. Today, the main research focus is on the pathogenesis of orthopoxvirus infection, primate pathology, neglected tropical diseases and nonhuman primates as models for chronic respiratory diseases. This paper gives an overview of the historical development and aspects of research activities.

A unique co-infection with Toxoplasma gondii and Capillaria hepatica is reported in a semi-free-living ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta). In this case acute toxoplasmosis, characterised by severe necrotising inflammation in different organs, was the leading cause of death, whilst accompanying chronic capillariasis was regarded as a predisposing factor. A concise description of both disease manifestations is given.

Introduction: Aging in place is favoured among older persons and supported by research in Sweden, although it poses challenges for overburdened informal caregivers. While respite care can offer support, its accessibility is hindered by organizational challenges and informal caregivers' delays in using it. The experiences of informal caregivers are well-studied, but the professionals' experiences of respite care quality and critical incident management are underexplored., Aim: To explore professionals' experiences of critical incidents in respite care, consequences for the persons being cared for, and strategies to manage critical incidents., Materials and Methods: A qualitative, critical incident technique was used, and three group interviews with a total of 16 professionals were conducted., Results: Barriers to quality respite care included communication gaps during care transitions, environmental shortcomings in respite care facilities, lack of support for informal caregivers, and inadequacies in respite care decisions. Strategies to manage critical incidents included individualized care, continuity and communication in care transitions, a conducive environment, support for informal caregivers, and care professionals' positive approach., Conclusions: The study emphasizes the need for focused efforts on communication, continuity, and a supportive environment. Addressing identified challenges and applying suggested strategies will be key to maximizing the potential of respite care as a vital support for care recipients and their informal caregivers.
