52. Industry Wish List.

WISHES ,PETROLEUM sales & prices ,GAS industry ,PETROLEUM industry ,COVID-19 pandemic - Abstract
During the spring of 2020, the oil and gas industry in Alberta faced significant challenges due to plummeting oil prices and reduced demand for fuel. Lobbyists for the industry approached government officials, arguing that they needed financial assistance and government support to survive the COVID-19 pandemic and the oil market crash. However, documents obtained by The Narwhal reveal that the lobbying efforts went beyond immediate survival and included a long-standing industry "wish list." The list included proposed changes in areas such as wetlands, oilsands monitoring, tailings ponds, and public involvement, which had been previously discussed in lobbying efforts before the pandemic. Critics expressed concern about the scale and scope of these requests, suggesting that they sought to remove environmental protections. The lobbying efforts were conducted through a committee called the "COVID-19 Market Crisis Joint Working Group," which included industry representatives and government officials. Some government officials referred to the list of requests as "CAPP 132," using the acronym of the lobby group, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. Critics also raised concerns about the composition of the committee, which included four lobbyists and a political chief of staff. [Extracted from the article]

We wish to correct an error in the paper "Breaking the 3/2 barrier for unit distances in three dimensions." Lemma 3.2 of this paper contained an incorrect claim about the intersection patterns of ellipses obtained by projecting circles from three dimensions to the plane. In this erratum we state and prove a correct version of this statement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper explores the religious function and meaning of long banner paintings from Cave 17 of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, in conjunction with material culture in Northwestern China in the ninth and tenth centuries CE. The so-called forty-nine-chi banners have peculiar traits such as extremely long lengths, an optional triangular headpiece, and a paired or single strip of textile on which a series of standing bodhisattvas are painted. The author focuses on the large number of textiles used for such banners and questions how the extraordinary length and material used contributed to fulfilling the donor's wishes. By examining both the banners' physical characteristics, such as the type of textiles, pigments, and configurations, and the theological background based on the Buddhist and Daoist scriptures about longevity, repentance, and healing, the author suggests that the long banners are a materialized form of longevity and prosperity by physically lengthening the banner with multiple bolts of silk. This paper further argues that depicting multiple bodhisattvas in a pictorial form on a long strip of textile was regarded equally as a powerful means for obtaining good health, prolonging life, eliminating sins, and thus being reborn in the Pure Land. Background: The end-of-life (EOL) experience in the intensive care unit (ICU) is emotionally challenging, and there are opportunities for improvement. The 3 Wishes Program (3WP) promotes the dignity of dying patients and their families by eliciting and implementing wishes at the EOL. Aim: To assess whether the 3WP is associated with improved ratings of EOL care. Program Description: In the 3WP, clinicians elicit and fulfill simple wishes for dying patients and their families. Setting: 2-hospital academic healthcare system. Participants: Dying patients in the ICU and their families. Program Evaluation: A modified Bereaved Family Survey (BFS), a validated tool for measuring EOL care quality, was completed by families of ICU decedents approximately 3 months after death. We compared patients whose care involved the 3WP to those who did not using three BFS–derived measures: Respectful Care and Communication (5 questions), Emotional and Spiritual Support (3 questions), and the BFS-Performance Measure (BFS-PM, a single-item global measure of care). Results: Of 314 completed surveys, 117 were for patients whose care included the 3WP. Bereaved families of 3WP patients rated the Emotional and Spiritual Support factor significantly higher (7.5 vs. 6.0, p = 0.003, adjusted p = 0.001) than those who did not receive the 3WP. The Respectful Care and Communication factor and BFS-PM were no different between groups. Discussion: The 3WP is a low-cost intervention that may be a feasible strategy for improving the EOL experience. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article seeks to cast light on a debate in eleventh- and twelfth-century Byzantium. At that time it was discussed whether the fasts of the Apostles, the Dormition and Christmas were obligatory or a matter of personal choice. The champions of the latter view argued that there was no canon requiring their observance. Others accused them of laxity but found it difficult to argue their case. Since proof texts were few and far between and not as informative as they would have wished the defenders of the fasts came to quite different conclusions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Citizens are more likely to accept reforms of welfare state arrangements if they perceive them as just and reasonable. However, the concept of social justice is multidimensional. For instance, in discourses on old-age security, justice is addressed in terms of meritocratic principles, demands, processes, redistribution, gender, or intergenerational equity. In the study "Lebensverläufe und Altersvorsorge" (LeA) [Life Courses and Old-Age Provision], respondents could express their wishes for retirement and the German statutory pension system in an open-ended question. We draw on this study to illustrate who addresses which social justice dimensions and how. Methodologically, we mixed standardized administrative and survey data with qualitative content analysis. More generally, we aim to highlight the rich analytical potential and challenges of open-ended questions. We reflect on methodological issues, e.g., the time-consuming preparation and interpretation of an enormous amount of non-standardized data, the interview situation compared to conventional qualitative interviews as well as interpretation difficulties due to missing contextual information. Furthermore, we prepared the open-ended question for quantitative analysis and integrated it into the data set while preserving its qualitative character. Finally, to illustrate options for joint analyses, we combined content analysis results with sequence/cluster analysis for longitudinal quantitative data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Korean has diverse expressions denoting "wishes". Among them, this paper focuses on the periphrastic constructions of [-essumyen/-kilul + desiderative verbs], excluding the construction [-ko siph-]. Using the perspectives of grammaticalisation and pragmatics, the developmental paths of how the elliptical constructions -essumyen and -kilul realise the concept of the "wish" of the speaker in the optative mood are investigated. This paper will clarify the evolution of the optative markers of -essumyen and -kilul using the mechanisms of grammaticalisation and pragmatic strategies including specialisation, subjectification, intersubjectification, politeness, insubordination, and pragmatic inferences. The SFP (sentential final particle) optatives -essumyen and -kilul take stance-related functions, undergoing insubordination and inviting pragmatic inferences. A corpus analysis will provide usage-based implications of the constructions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigates three consumer archetypes (hedonist, influencer, and local champion) and their potential to influence mall revitalization. Results show that a belief in the importance of the mall leads to a more enjoyable shopping experience, a subsequent willingness to pay more for locally owned stores, a greater propensity to spend more at the mall, and to engage in positive word-of-mouth. Findings suggest that local champions and influencers are vital for bringing patrons back to shopping centers in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is argued that the mall and its tenants will benefit from co-marketing; the mall offering and promoting enjoyable settings and individual stores accentuating their unique experiences. What is the purpose of the applied study of government? In this essay, I lay out one response--that scholars of this topic should help in the job of what I characterize as embedding institutions of public-sector change. Public institutions offer the key means to direct governance, but at the same time also risk becoming sclerotic, failing to adapt to public concerns. How can academics help resolve this duality, matching public values to contemporary challenges? First, we as scholars can play a role in purposeful problem framing. Second, we can study and document related behavior and empirical outcomes. Finally, we can design solutions. I illustrate these processes with examples from my own research, discussing performance management, administrative burdens, and public personnel systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Some older adults with a persistent death wish without being severely ill report having had a death wish their whole lives (lifelong persistent death wish; L-PDW). Differentiating them from older adults without severe illness who developed a death wish later in life (persistent death wish, not lifelong; NL-PDW) can be relevant for the provision of adequate help and support. This study aims to gain insight into the characteristics, experiences, and needs of older adults with a L-PDW versus older adults with a NL-PDW and into the nature of their death wishes. Methods: In the Netherlands, in April 2019, a cross-sectional survey study was conducted among a large representative sample of 32,477 citizens aged 55 years and older. Respondents with a L-PDW (N = 50) were compared with respondents with a NL-PDW (N = 217) using descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis tests, and Fisher's exact tests. Results: Respondents with a L-PDW were relatively younger and less often had (step)children. They less often looked back on a good and satisfying life with many good memories and more often reported trauma. Older adults with a NL-PDW more often reported loss and bereavement. Overall, the groups showed a lot of similarities. Both groups reported a death wish diverse in nature, numerous health problems, and a variety of needs for help and support. Conclusions: Some of the differences we found between the groups might be particularly relevant for the provision of adequate help and support to older adults with a L-PDW (i.e., their past and trauma) and to older adults with a NL-PDW (i.e., their loss and bereavement). The heterogeneity of both groups and the diverse nature of their death wish indicate that careful assessment of the death wish, its background, and underlying needs is required to provide personalized help and support to older adults with a death wish. Turkic or native Tatar allegorical phrases make up most of the phraseological synonymy. The present article analyzes the phraseological units of the Tatar literary language, lexicalized in dictionaries, and their synonyms used in spoken language. The study discusses the etymology of phraseological units and their structural components and the variability of synonymous set expressions with the semantics of wishes. The thematic justification is explained by the tasks of identifying the frequency of phraseological units with the semantics of wish and their synonymous variants in literary and spoken language. The goal of this study is to reveal the characteristics of phraseological synonyms in determining the performative paradigm of the speech act of wishing in the Tatar language. In the course of the study, the authors analyzed the modern works by Russian and foreign authors on linguistics and philology, analyzed the vocabulary items lexicalized in phraseological dictionaries and dictionaries of synonyms of the Tatar language, and compared raw word stock and spoken language.

The IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (T-ASE) wishes to thank the 1649 reviewers over the past year who have performed an essential role in maintaining the quality of this publication. T-ASE strives for the 90–90 standard, i.e., 90% of articles should be reviewed within 90 days of submission. The review process starts when the Editor-in-Chief assigns the paper to an Editor, who assigns it to an Associate Editor (AE). The AE then obtains confirmation from three to five reviewers, carefully studies the results, and makes a recommendation to the Editor, who then makes a decision that is reported back to the lead author. This review process is very demanding, especially under time constraints. We have summarized the process under “Guidelines for T-ASE Editors and AEs for Handling Papers” on our website. I am pleased to report that submissions have steadily increased (over 1300 in 2021) and our impact factor is now 6.636, a 30.55% increase over the past year. As we strive to increase the quality and impact of the journal, we rely on the hard work of our reviewers and members of the Editorial Board. To those dedicated volunteers, and to anyone who may have been inadvertently omitted from the following list, we extend our sincere appreciation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Golden Rule ("what you want done [or not done] to yourself, do [or don't do] to others") is the most widely accepted summary statement of human morality, and even today it continues to have philosophical supporters. This article argues that the Golden Rule suffers from four faults, the first two related to the ethics of justice and the second two related to the ethics of benevolence. One, it fails to explain how to deal with non-reciprocation. Two, it fails to make clear that my obligations are obligations regardless of how I would wish to be treated by others. Three, it lacks any special value in explaining the right occasions for benevolence. And, four, it has no power to motivate benevolence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Jeremy Corbyn’s tenure at the helm of the Labour Party was exceptional for number of reasons. He was the first Labour leader elected directly by party members and supporters. Leftwing rebel, Corbyn had not spent a single day in frontbenches during his more than three decades long parliamentary career, until he took the top spot. Elected against the wishes of party establishment, he found himself in constant opposition with the parliamentary party. This unresolvable conflict both defined and doomed his leadership. This article looks at Jeremy Corbyn’s tenure as a leader of the Labour Party as an example of a dysfunctional leadership. It tries to explain how and why it became leadership that was both ineffective and detrimental to the party. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WISHES , *IDEOLOGY - Abstract
In recent years, theorists have contended that we should move to a mode of social organisation where work and the values attached to it are no longer central, a 'post-work society'. For these theorists, the modern ideology of work is intrinsically unjust, even irrational and no longer suited to the challenges of our time. The article presents an alternative response to the problems of work and employment. Rather than moving to a 'post-work' society, the article argues that we should transform the world of work, precisely by keeping in view why working is important to individuals and the community. In fact, it is not realistic to believe that human societies could ever do without work. Because human societies are by necessity work societies, and work, if organised correctly, entails many goods, we cannot really, and we should not, wish work away. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hope is a ubiquitous experience in daily life and acts as a force to help individuals attain desired future outcomes. In the current paper, we review existing research on hope and its benefits. Building on this work, we propose a new model of hope in romantic relationships. Our model seeks to expand the study of hope, addressing limitations of past research by bringing hope into the interpersonal domain and adding a future‐oriented perspective. More specifically, we argue that relational hope encompasses three facets, including relational agency, relational pathways, and relational aspirations, or what we call the wills, ways, and wishes people have in their relationship. We outline specific ways that these three facets may promote well‐being in romantic relationships. First, we propose that relational agency—the motivation to achieve relational goals—fuels approach‐motivated goals, which in turn promotes higher quality relationships. Additionally, we posit that relational pathways—the perception of sufficient strategies to pursue relational goals—enhance self‐regulation to support effective communication and conflict management with a romantic partner. Finally, we propose that relational aspirations—the positive emotions felt in anticipation of future relationship outcomes—foster growth beliefs which in turn promote relationship maintenance and commitment over time. While our model posits that relational hope has many potential benefits for relationships, we also discuss key contexts in which hope may undermine relationships and well‐being. Overall, our proposed model of relational hope offers a new area of insight into how hope may shape well‐being in romantic relationships. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PHENOMENOLOGY , *WISHES , *CONSCIOUSNESS - Abstract
This essay accomplishes two goals. First, contra accepted interpretations, I reveal that the early Husserl executed valuable and extensive investigations of wishes—specifically in manuscripts from
Studies concerning the Structures of Consciousness . In these manuscripts, Husserl examines two ‘kinds’ of wishes. He describes wishdrives as feelings of lack. He also dissects wishintentions to uncover previously obscured partial acts, including nullifying consciousness, an existentially oriented act, and a preferring. Second, I reveal how these insights fromStudies partially prefigure Husserl’s mature genetic phenomenology of drives and wish intentions. The mature Husserl develops his previous observation, thatdrives are experiences of lack, by describing these drives as having two moments: impulse and movement. Husserl also comes to new insights about wish acts, when he juxtaposes these intentions—as pure feelings that have no power to reach a telos—to drives, which he now conceives of as volitional doings. Intensive weight management programs are effective but often have low enrollment and high attrition. Lack of motivation is a key psychological barrier to enrollment, engagement, and weight loss. Mental Contrasting with Implementation Intentions (MCII) is a unique imagery technique that increases motivation for behavior change. We describe our study protocol to assess the efficacy and implementation of MCII to enhance the effectiveness of VA's MOVE! or TeleMOVE! weight management programs using a procedure called "WOOP" (Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan) for Veterans. We hypothesize that WOOP+MOVE! or TeleMOVE! (intervention) will lead to greater MOVE!/TeleMOVE! program engagment and consequently weight loss than MOVE!/TeleMOVE! alone (control). Veterans are randomized to either the intervention or control. Both arms receive the either MOVE! or TeleMOVE! weight management programs. The intervention group receives an hour long WOOP training while the control group receives patient education. Both groups receive telephone follow up calls at 3 days, 4 weeks, and 2 months post-baseline. Eligible participants are Veterans (ages 18–70 years) with either obesity (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) or overweight (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2) and an obesity-associated co-morbidity. At baseline, 6 and 12 months, we assess weight, diet, physical activity in both groups. The primary outcome is mean percent weight change at 6 months. Secondary outcomes include changes in waist circumference, diet, physical activity, and dieting self-efficacy and engagement in regular physical activity. We assess implementation using the RE-AIM framework. If WOOP VA is found to be efficacious, it will be an important tool to facilitate weight management and improve weight outcomes. Adolescents' mental health and self-awareness (perceptions about their strengths, weaknesses and wishes) was explored in the present study. The sample included 495 students (9th-12th classes) from a private school (Delhi NCR). Quantitative (MHC-SF) and qualitative (self-report) methods were used. Results suggested poor mental health in senior secondary than secondary students. Both groups consider personality/qualities as their strengths and weaknesses rather than physical attributes or skills and relational. Both groups reported higher personal wishes than relational, and social. Educationists and parents should strategize to improve adolescents' mental health and help them to aspire not only for self but society as well. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Choosing to close a private practice carries profound ramifications for therapist and patients. Patients usually leave us through a mutually constructed termination, accompanied by the understanding that the patient is welcome to return. Terminations marked by abrupt rupture are – with rare exceptions – at the behest of the patient. The choice to close a practice based solely on the wishes and needs of the therapist interrupts ongoing work, disappointing and angering patients and stirring up abandonment issues. For the therapist such a decision involves separation from a deeply cherished identity. And, while this choice affirms a measure of control, it also acknowledges intimations of one's own mortality. This paper addresses the conundrums of choice, the theme of loss and the arc of the work between announcement and termination. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article examines unipersonal necessity constructions with pitää 'must, have to' in Finnish everyday conversation. The necessity constructions are unipersonal, which means that their predicate verb does not show agreement with the person of the subject. Omitting the pronominal subject altogether is common in necessity constructions, typically resulting in a so-called zero-person construction, which is a type of referentially open personal construction in Finnish. The present article sets out to explore the semantico-grammatical and discourse features of necessity constructions without an overt grammatical subject, comparing them with those that have explicit subjects (both speech-act pronouns and third-person subjects) by employing a generalized linear mixed model (GLMM). Following an overview of the statistical results, the article provides a qualitative analysis of the statistically significant differences. The findings indicate that the zero-person constructions of necessity have distinct functions in organizing social interaction, such as (joint) planning, expressing wishes, and generally constructing involvement between participants, whereas the necessity constructions that have a speech-act pronoun as the subject are more oriented toward emphasizing the necessity or obligation of taking an action rather than directly implementing it. Psychoanalytic theory and practice have moved toward privileging relational and attachment dynamics as both cause and cure of many of the issues that bring individuals into psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, highlighting the significance of each therapeutic relationship as a key part of the work. But, what is that relationship? We are not parent/child, nor are we friends, but a deep, mutual bond often develops and enhances the process. Fantasies of being friends, emanating from either and/or both participants, can represent important, often unformulated, aspects of this relationship. Psychoanalytic theory has not fully explored meanings of this wish to be friends, but it is my experience that finding ways to reflect on a wish or fantasy to be friends can lead to deeper and more complex understanding of adult attachment. In this article, theory and clinical examples will be utilized to examine resistances as well as contradictions, conflicts, and hopes and fears that come into play when thoughts, fantasies, and wishes to be friends to enter the therapeutic space. AFFECT (Psychology) , *NINETEENTH century , *ARCHIVAL resources , *PHYSICIANS , *WISHES - Abstract
While nineteenth-century regular physicians were expected to project a circumscribed affect in the exercise of their duties, they were not always successful in maintaining this performance. Archival sources, particularly the manuscript casebook for private practice, reveal the slippage between the performance of appropriate affect and the felt, interior emotions of the physician. This essay frames the casebook as an affective genre, building on Gianna Pomata's concept of epistemic genre. I argue that the nineteenth-century casebook, particularly when compared with the published case narrative, can reveal the disjunction or slippage between the expected performance of affect—that which Osler and others wished to prescribe for medical practitioners—and the felt reality or interiority of the physician. This article proposes the concept of affective genre and then explores its utility through close analysis of the casebook of a single practitioner, Andrew Bowles Holder, and selected examples from the casebooks of his contemporaries. CONSTITUTIONS ,LAWNS ,WISHES ,MOWING ,SUMMER - Abstract
Palmer (Erkenntnis. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10670-018-0046-0) defends the 'Constitution View' of omissions. According to this view, every omission is constituted by, though not identical to, some positive event. I argue that Palmer's version of this view can't do all the work he wants it to do. First, it can't provide an answer to the ontological question to which he addresses himself: 'What kind of thing is an omission?' Second, it doesn't give us the resources to determine which positive events serve as the ultimate constituters of omissions which seem to occur over long periods of time (e.g. my omission to mow my neighbour's lawn over the summer); at least, not without embracing consequences Palmer wishes to avoid. Blockchain is a developing technology that can provide users with such advantages as decentralization, data security, and transparency of transactions. Blockchain has many applications, one of them is the decentralized finance (DeFi) industry. DeFi is a huge aggregator of various financial blockchain protocols. At the moment, the total value locked in these protocols reaches USD 82 billion. Every day more and more new users come to DeFi with their investments. The concept of decentralized finance involves the creation of a single ecosystem of many blockchains that interact with each other. The problem of combining and interacting blockchains becomes crucial to enable DeFi. In this paper, we look at the essence of the DeFi industry, the possibilities of overcoming the problem of cross-blockchain interaction, present our approach to solving this problem with the Wish Swap platform, which, in particular, provides improved fault-tolerance for cross-chain interaction by using multiple backend nodes and multisignatures. We analyze the results of the proposed solution and demonstrate how a prototype pre-sale application can be created based on the proposed concept. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present article deals with Heidegger's research into boredom. The phenomenon cannot be simply described as an emotion but as a fundamental attunement, which represented a pathway to being qua being for Heidegger. Many scholars have argued that the philosopher's treatment of the phenomenon led to sublimation or transgression in describing it beyond its phenomenological limits. While I agree with the general assessment, I also believe that there is a need to expand the argument further. I will argue that the cause of such transgression lies mainly in Heidegger's inability to separate the truth from the notion of meaning or sense. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTERPERSONAL relations ,INFORMATION-seeking behavior ,WISHES ,SCHOOL children ,ATTENTION-deficit hyperactivity disorder - Abstract
Understanding the desires and motivations of children with ADHD is important in helping them thrive. Their inner worlds, however, have not been well captured. The Three Wishes task provides minimal cues and structure to elicit their desires and hopes in an unbiased manner. The wishes of 299 school-aged children with ADHD (193 boys, aged 6–12) were elicited during a research diagnostic assessment. We developed a coding scheme to characterize different aspects of their wishes, including beneficiary, valence, and immediacy. Maslow's hierarchy of needs, adapted to take account of the participants' ages, was used to identify the motivations underlying the children's wishes. As expected, many of the wishes reported were for immediate fulfillment, with many reflecting material desires. Affiliative wishes, highlighting the children's desire for positive interpersonal relationships, were also common. There was some evidence for self-actualization/self-betterment goals and a small number of altruistic wishes. A word cloud presents the content of the children's wishes grouped according to this hierarchy. This study highlights the diversity and typicality of the self-reported needs, desires and hopes of children with ADHD. It also serves as a timely reminder of the value of seeking such information directly from children themselves. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Freud argued that people perceive reality through their unconscious fantasies while striving to fulfill their wishes. This paper claims that the role of unconscious fantasies should be expanded beyond Freud's description; and that our unconscious imaginary process generates inner communication that is motivated by thoughts and emotions about relating to oneself and others. The clinical case illustrates the role of analysis in closing the permeable gap between reality and unconscious fantasy. In analysis, uncovering unconscious fantasy can serve as a bridge to reality and can be used to facilitate resolution of the patient's underlying conflicts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

91. MILITARY HEALTH WISHES IN THE GREEK LETTERS OF CAESAR AND OCTAVIAN.

WISHES , *LETTER writing - Abstract
This article examines and contextualizes a health wish formula found at the opening of eight Roman official letters inscribed in Greek, one of Caesar and seven of Octavian. In each letter the sender mentions that he is well 'with the army' (μετὰ τοῦ στρατεύματος), hence the term 'military' health wish. The health wish was borrowed from Latin letters into Roman letters written in Greek by means of phraseological imitation. The formulation employs appropriate Koine Greek. It was optional during the Republic for the wish to be used in letters either from or to a Roman holding imperium and commanding an army. Because Caesar and Octavian were in such positions, their use of the wish is conventional. The use of this health wish demonstrates that epistolographers working for Caesar and Octavian not only drafted letters that met the conventions of Hellenistic chanceries but also were proficient enough in the medium to incorporate Roman elements with effectiveness. Attestations of the military health wish declined during the Imperial period. The requirement that the sender or the recipient hold imperium would have restricted usage during the Republic but even more so under the Empire through administrative changes to the command of armies and the increasing centrality of the princeps. This article offers two clinical vignettes to illustrate the use of somatic receptivity and interventions in the bodily-based psychotherapy of patients experiencing severe levels of disembodiment. Drawing upon the work of Lombardi, Alvarez, and Bucci, the author stresses the therapist's primary attention to the mind-body splits (the vertical axis), in contrast to interpersonal/transference interpretations (the horizontal axis), in the treatment of chronic disembodied defenses. DISCOURSE markers ,LATIN language ,WISHES ,GRAMMAR - Abstract
This paper analyzes subordinate clauses which have gained both syntactic and discursive independence through insubordination, the diachronic conventionalization of main clause usage. First, I introduce the notion of insubordination and discuss its application to a corpus language such as Latin from both a synchronic and a diachronic perspective. Second, cases of insubordination from Archaic and Classical Latin are critically evaluated on the basis of evidence from different grammars and corpus research, yielding insubordinate directives (commands and requests with ut(ei) + subjunctive), insubordinate wishes (with ut, utinam and si + subjunctive) and assertives (with quasi + subjunctive). Special attention is paid to the pragmatic and syntactic characteristics of these insubordinate constructions such as (i) syntactic versus pragmatic independence from the linguistic common ground, (ii) main clause syntactic complexity, and (iii) the role of discourse particles of adversativity (at, sed) and positive polarity (quidem). Falling birth rates and rising life expectancy are leading to global aging. The proportional increase in older people can be observed in almost all countries and regions worldwide. As a result, more people spend their later years in nursing homes. In homes where person-centered care is implemented, residents report greater satisfaction and quality of life. This approach is based on the wishes and needs of the residents. Therefore, the purpose of this scoping review is to explore the wishes and needs of nursing home residents. A scoping review of the literature was conducted in which 12 databases were systematically searched for relevant articles according to PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Both quantitative and qualitative study designs were considered. A total of 51 articles met the inclusion criteria. Included articles were subjected to thematic analysis and synthesis to categorize findings into themes. The analysis identified 12 themes to which the wishes and needs were assigned: (1) Activities, leisure, and daily routine; (2) Autonomy, independence, choice, and control; (3) Death, dying, and end-of-life; (4) Economics; (5) Environment, structural conditions, meals, and food; (6) Health condition; (7) Medication, care, treatment, and hygiene; (8) Peer relationship, company, and social contact; (9) Privacy; (10) Psychological and emotional aspects, security, and safety; (11) Religion, spirituality; and (12) Sexuality. Nursing home residents are not a homogeneous group. Accordingly, a wide range of needs and wishes are reported in the literature, assigned to various topics. This underscores the need for tailored and person-centered approaches to ensure long-term well-being and quality of life in the nursing home care setting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A principal wishes to persuade multiple agents to take a particular action profile. Each agent cares about both a payoff‐relevant state and other agents' actions. The principal discloses information about the state to control the agents' behavior by using their strategic uncertainty. We show that for any nondegenerate prior, the principal can persuade the agents to take an action profile as a unique rationalizable outcome if that action profile satisfies a generalization of risk dominance. Moreover, this result remains true even if each of the agents is allowed to strategically choose whether to receive information from the principal or not. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
