Aim: To investigate to what extent the stakeholders believe in females having attributes of transformational leadership to rise at higher positions in institutions of higher education in India while implementing New Education Policy in India. To know where we are right now and where we need to go in terms of promoting female leaders in Indian higher education. Methods: Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used. Qualitative responses from 10 Indian women leaders are collected from those 03 qualitative responses are quoted in the paper and considered in the analysis. MLQ* tool (Multifactor leadership Questionnaire) used to collect responses of 51 different stakeholders of higher education. Findings: The study shows that female leadership can be trailblazing in organizational management in institutions of Higher Education in India while implementing the New Education Policy. The results anticipate providing insights to initiate Indian policymakers and recruiting bodies to motivate women to take up leadership positions. Originality and Cognitive Value: The area of the prospects of transformational female leadership in Indian higher education in the context of implementation of New Education Policy in India is a novel exploration as education policy is implemented recently in 2020 and gender equity is a major aspect of concern in achieving Sustainable development Goals. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were developed by the United Nations in 2015 to encompass universal respect for equality and non-discrimination regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, and cultural diversity. Since 2000, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) have aligned with SDG 4.3 by developing higher education institutions (HEIs) which aims to "By 2030, ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university". This was intended to create equal opportunities and permit full realisation and prosperity of human rights and human dignity. This paper explores the effectiveness of managing racial integration in BRICS HEIs and illustrates remarkable progress in research and policy enactment. Particular attention is devoted to the period from the mid-2000s when evidence around the globe exposed the presence of many forms of violence, which inhibit management of effective racial integration. Based on case studies from selected BRICS countries (South Africa, Russia, and Brazil), this paper explores how the management of racial integration is being addressed within these contexts. This paper notes that education needs to essentially lead to sustainable development serving two-fold purpose--eradicating the problems of unemployment and poverty; and ensuring equitable distribution of wealth while ensuring the right understanding leading to a peaceful, prosperous and developed world. In its current state, technical education doesn't seem to serve the above two objectives. The paper presents a holistic view of technical education in India. In order to ensure sustainable development for India in the contemporary global scenario, the paper finds technical education to be one of the core competencies that need to be developed. The paper observes that there seems to be no linkage between the "education" being provided in the country and these problems getting solved. In order to provide a real educational solution for all-encompassing development of India, the paper suggests that "what to do" is the real question for technical education than just "how to do". A Green school is energy efficient, higher performing school that can be environmentally beneficial. Importance of Green school lies in the environmental friendliness value it upholds. Service learning has emanated out of philosophies of progressiveness and pragmatism. Service learning enables students to grow and learn through active participation in community service activities that are clearly connected to their academic program. (Bringle R.G., 1996) The "Haritha Vidyalayam" Project in Kerala is resonant with the Greening of schools adopted in the western countries in 1990's. The "Swach Bharat Abhiyan" can be entangled to service learning activities and green school projects because it's based on Article 51A. The probable question that shoots out of research is how the green schools are related to the service learning? The critical answer for this is the distant aim that both green school and service learning projects "the welfare of the community." The clubbing of society and the school can bring about a greater good for the environment through sustainable development. The Green school as an extended arm of service learning can cater to the needs of the school, society and each individual human being involved within. This paper elaborates upon the "Haritha Vidyalayam" project and steps to enhance green schooling as part of service learning.

The purpose of the study is to examine business education that aims to prepare students to understand poverty and design sustainable solutions for people living in subsistence in a yearlong course at a Midwestern U.S Land-grant university. I conduct a case study of the course in order to understand the curriculum and pedagogical arrangements and to examine the experiences of the course participants. Theoretically, my project is situated at the intersections of globalization and education studies, capabilities approach, and critical pedagogy. Theoretically informed and empirically grounded, my study offers a more nuanced understanding of pedagogical possibilities to prepare students to understand the conditions of poverty around the world and to contribute to global poverty reduction in the age of globalization.

More than 75 years have passed since India got independence. However, the sustainable development and higher education rates of some castes and tribes in India are disappointing. It is a matter of concern that some backward tribes are today struggling to achieve their sustainable development and increase the rate of higher education. The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) felt it was timely to create an academic forum in which university researchers have the opportunity to engage with their peers and relevant stakeholders and document the impacts of their North-South research collaboration in a peer-reviewed publication. The Association achieved this by hosting a colloquium on June 6-7, 2005, under the theme "Highlighting the Impacts of North-South Research Collaboration among Canadian and Southern Higher Education Partners." Funded by Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and with the collaboration of the Canadian Association for the Study of International Development and the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research, the colloquium generated much interest among university researchers. The call for abstracts issued several months ahead of the event attracted 75 proposals from which 12 were selected by peer review for presentation at the colloquium. The papers were profiled in four panels featuring the impacts of research collaboration between Canadian and Southern university researchers on: (1) policy influence; (2) development challenges; (3) research capacity building; and (4) mutual benefits for individual researchers and teams of researchers in Canada and in the South. Following the colloquium, presenters took the time to incorporate comments from colloquium participants into their papers, and AUCC submitted these papers to a rigorous peer-review process. These peer-reviewed proceedings, published in the language of submission, capture the richness of the 12 presentations and document the broad impacts and value of collaboration between university researchers in Canada and the South. For decision-makers and granting agencies, the proceedings will serve as a base of knowledge to inform policy development with respect to the broad impacts of North-South research collaboration. For university partners, they are meant to help strengthen and enhance Canadian university involvement in international development projects and North-South research cooperation. Emission-free economy is an achievable target with the formulation of policies by the Governments around the globe. A major contribution is made by the transport industry. Delhi is one of the examples among the cities in India which is polluting the air by transportation which is about 20 percent. Towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the nation has to take a different trajectory from concentrating on the technical aspect of reducing the hazardous emissions to refining the regulatory awareness. The research study is based on the statistical inputs provided by the government agencies and the judicial verdicts seeking a pollution free atmosphere. The Judiciary has been proactively recommending and directing the respective government to take necessary action towards controlling the pollution caused due to road transport. Nevertheless, the use of Artificial Intelligence has been an area which has not been strongly recommended by the apex court. The regulatory and judicial control over the emissions is towards a penalizing perspective and the technological assistance has not been resorted to. Though a one hundred percent emission-free economy is not a possibility, the areas which are still not explored or have not been brought under the purview of consideration have been the scope of study in the research paper. Corporate governance has become an important issue of late. Corporate governance is about ethical conduct in business. It is the system by which businesses are directed and controlled. The issue of ethics & corporate governance is particularly important for developing countries since it is central to financial and economic development. India, with the legacy of the British legal system, has one of the best corporate governance laws but poor implementation combined with socialistic policies of the pre-reform era which affected corporate governance. The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between Corporate Governance and Sustainability in Banking Sector. This research examines the practices of corporate governance attributes in banking sector also presents discussion surrounding governance practices by some Indian banks. The methodology consists of a case study based approach of secondary sources like Bank websites, RBI reports, etc. This paper reviews the existing codes of Corporate Governance (CG) in India. It analyzes the CG structures and practices in HDFC bank & State Bank of India by using a case study methodology. A lot of electrical and mechanical energy is wasted in the public toilets of government and private institutes, universities, and offices, in which exhaust fans run continuously during the daytime, throughout the year in India. Not only, a huge cost is involved just to exhaust foul air, but also, put on adverse effects on the environment. This event creates an undue burden on ecology and the economy. This study uncovers a solution to this research gap in the paper "Solar-assisted eco-innovation induces eco-ventilation." The system is an eco-friendly technology in which the eco-innovation system of heliostats focuses solar radiation on a hollow hot air bulb, creating a pressure difference to ensure air exchange, remove foul air, and enhance ventilation. Instead of depending on an electrical or mechanical exhaust system, this eco-innovation can be a business model that saves working costs as well as the environment, ensuring economical and ecological sustainability and also contributing to the development process. In this era of rapid development, hundreds of new cities and surrounding regions or city-region are emerging in the developing countries like China, India, and Malaysia. New cities provide an opportunity for resilient socio-economic landscape development. Development of new cities and city region is similar to draw on blank paper that helps in eradication of the pressing issues of urban areas like slum development, non-employment, pollution, lack of infrastructure and others. The concept of development of the new city in isolation effects the sustainability of the city as it is an integral part of the region. Regional settings of the new city will determine the long-term sustainability. When the new city grows in isolation, it will give rise to the polarisation of resources, services, and population leading to the regional economic imbalance. This very problem is a lesson for the development of new cities as a city should not be treated as the single system but a part of the larger system known as the city-region. With an increase in green consumerism and with corporate environmentalism, companies have started making use of green marketing strategies and techniques. In India too, environmentalism has started gaining ground. A number of environmental laws have been promulgated in the country to prevent environmental degradation. Both government and non- government organisations have floated green campaigns to combat the ever increasing problems of pollution and fast depletion of natural resources. The development of green marketing has opened the door of opportunity for companies to cobrand their products into separate line; such marketing techniques will be explained as a direct result of movement in the minds of the consumer market. As a result of this businesses have increased their rate of targeting consumers who are concerned about the environment. Green marketing is still in its infancy and a lot of research is to be done on green marketing to fully explore its potentials. The present paper provides an overview of the green marketing concept, identifies opportunities and challenges hindering the adoption of the green marketing construct. GST also known as the Goods and Services Tax is defined as a uniform indirect tax levied on goods and services across a country to support and enhance the economic growth of a country. More than 160 countries have implemented GST so far. However, the idea of GST in India was mooted by Vajpayee government in 2000 and the constitutional amendment for the same was passed by the Loksabha on 6th May 2015. The GST rolled out from July 1, 2017. GST, as an umbrella tax has replaced central taxes such as Central Excise Duty, Service Tax, Additional Duties of Excise & Customs, Special Additional Duty of Customs, and cesses and surcharges on supply of goods and services and state VAT. There was a huge hue and cry against its implementation. In present paper it has been shown that which sectors are positively or negatively affected by GST. In India, various agricultural extension programs have been conceptualized and implemented since independence to increase the crop production at various fronts so to meet the growing demand of increasing population on one hand and also to reduce the imports of such products on the other hand. In the past couple of decades a large number of crop production technologies evolved have been adopted by different categories of farmers of Haryana State in Northern India that has not only increased the farm production but the profits made by the farming community have improvised their standard of living and changed their way of life. The "inherent and latent effects" of intensive agriculture leading to higher crop production at the cost of lowering of water table, poor soil health and environmental degradation had called for the attention of the scientists, policy makers and the producers to look for newer strategies for having sustainable agriculture. Present study was conducted in Haryana State of Northern India that has three zones based on the rain fall irrigation facilities. Framers of the state have different cropping patterns and cropping intensity. Wheat production in the state increased to 10.05 million tonnes in 2008-09 from 10.02 million tonnes in 2007-08, the state also recorded an all-time high productivity of 42.68 quintals of wheat per hectare. A recent survey indicated that 40 per cent of the farmers in Haryana State have switched over to "zero-tillage" in wheat crop cultivation. Use of Zero Tillage has had reduced the cost of cultivation up to U.S. $ 50 per hectare and water used for one irrigation is also saved. The farmers in some districts of the State were earlier growing two crops of paddy followed by wheat cultivation have switched over to one crop of paddy followed by wheat and pulse crops so to save water which was intensively used for irrigating two paddy crops five years ago. The promotion of pulse crop cultivation has also improved soil health in the area. Majority of farmers having land holding up to four hectares practice mixed farming of crop and dairy husbandry that was found more sustainable and organic in nature as both these sub-systems of the farming were found complimentary and supplementary to each other and had symbiotic relationship. A few farmers have changed their cropping pattern and have adopted cultivation of paddy-wheat-sorghum, paddy-potato-maize. A large number of small farmers having land holding up to one hectare have recently adopted vermi compost in growing different crops. It is since June 2009 that to conserve water in paddy cultivation with the help of IRRI, Philippines and CIMMYT, Mexico trials have been initiated in different locations of the state to cultivate paddy without raising and transplanting paddy nursery and using direct seeding and broadcasting methods are being tried. The main objective of this paper is to develop a flood hazard map for Adyar watershed in Chennai as it forms the basic tool for flood preparedness and mitigation activities, including flood insurance programs. Appropriate flood management strategies should be developed in order to set up an environment that fosters sustainable development. The Adyar watershed is delineated into micro watersheds based on Digital Elevation Model and stream flow data in Arcview platform. Then, various thematic maps like slope, gradient, drainage density, size of watershed, rainfall, soil, land use, communication line and infrastructure are prepared and overlaid to produce the flood hazard map. This flood hazard map would help the administrators and planners to identify the risk areas and to prioritize their mitigation efforts. Industry 4.0 (I4) has rapidly gained its importance across manufacturing industries over the globe. It can be seen as the fourth up-gradation of the Industry sector, which is competent to influencing entire business processes mainly at the designing, production and delivery stages. Accordingly, the key objective of this research is to identify the key enablers of I4 practices that facilitate its adoption across the Indian manufacturing industries. This study captures a unique set of ten key enablers with the help of existing literature. Further, Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM)-fuzzy MICMAC was used to assess the interrelationship among key enablers and also compute a structural hierarchy. The primary result indicates that 'Supportive government policies' have a critical impact in implementing I4 practices from Indian perspective. This paper is an attempt to understand Indian Solar Photovoltaic technological innovation system. Solar energy is one of the key solutions for energy security that holds a significant place to bridge the demand-supply gap of energy and consider a more sustainable form of energy among various renewable energy sources. At the same time, it is also one of low-carbon technologies, which aim to enhance the country's economic development. In this study, we adopt technological innovation system framework to understand the main drivers and barriers and to see the future directions pertaining to Solar Photovoltaic technological innovation system in the country. Methodologically, the study relies on both primary and secondary data. We found that entrepreneurial activities function embraces a fairly accumulated technological innovation system that performs a dynamic result. However, the least accumulated in the system is associated with resource mobilisation. Inconsistent regulations, less interaction in networks, disconnected competitive entities, unpredictable behaviour of the government and the lack of funding are the key barriers of Indian Photovoltaic industry development. Silk is the fine strong soft lustrous fiber produced by silkworms and is an inseparable part of Indian culture and tradition. The word silk sounds luxury and class. Silk is the queen of textile and the naturally produced animal fiber. Till today, no other fabric can match it in luster and elegance. As long as human desire for silk garments continues, the demand for sericulture activity remains. Natural sheen, inherent affinity for dyes and vibrant colours, high absorbance, light weight, resilience and excellent drape etc. have made silk, the irresistible and inevitable companion of the eve all over the world. Chemically speaking, the silk is made of proteins secreted in the fluid state by a caterpillar, popularly known as silkworm, Bombyx mori L. "Sericulture" means cultivation of silkworms, which finally produces silk. Traditionally, Indian economy is largely dependent on the success of agriculture and allied farm activities as more than 70 per cent of the people's livelihood security is depending on this sector. Sericulture being an agro-based enterprise plays a predominant role in shaping the economic destiny of the rural people and fits very well in India's rural structure, where agriculture continues to be the main occupation. Sericulture occupies a very important position in the Indian economy. Its structure comprising of mulberry cultivation, silkworm rearing, silk reeling and fabric weaving spreads across the agriculture sector, industrial sector as well as cottage industries and export units. Thus sericulture plays a pivotal role in economic development of the country by generating employment, income, as well as foreign exchange. During the periods 2010-2020, health insurance got awareness due to various reasons like unexpected health issues, accidents, family commitments. To enjoy the tax benefits, sudden financial burden for health issues, financial crisis due to various bank credits and other related factors among the various investment avenues, people consider health insurance also one of the avenues for their investment. This study makes an attempt to analyze the policyholders' preferences and the expectations towards the health insurance sector. For this study, primary data and secondary data are used. Through this study, suggestions were made to the various participants in the Indian health insurance industry. It is concluded that Health Insurance sector cannot grow if reasonable consumer expectations relating to access, cost and quality of healthcare remain promises rather than realities. Over the next decade, new discoveries coupled with green technologies could help India's growth story, turning India into one of the world's leading sustainable economies. The Indian green building market is estimated to double in the near future as more and more citizens become aware of the negative effects humans have caused to the earth due to the widespread use of minerals, artificial products, pesticides and so on. The research focuses on numerous literatures and attempts to assess the Green building adoption or implementation barriers in the residential construction. The goal is to find and assess obstacles by questionnaire survey using ranking based on individual stakeholder's perception from developing countries like India. The findings revealed that there is a need for a shift in stakeholder perceptions and attitudes toward green building development. India is moving towards development of urban facilities reaching all parts of the nation. The characteristics of urban development have been four types- one is the town developed prior to 16th century, second towns developed up to 17th century, colonial towns and finally post-independence towns. Many of the remote areas of India have town having history of more than four centuries. These towns have sustained and passed the strongest test of time which has not turned into ghost towns. Hence there are lessons of sustainability to be learnt in these old towns which is beneficial to the regional development. In coastal Karnataka and Kerala the rural urban divide is minimal and hence there are many urban centers spread across the district with long history. In such a scenario instead of aiming for a concentrated urban development, strengthening of existing urban centers is more sustainable. The trend of new urbanism propagating smart code where the local character of land and society is conserved along with modern development and efficiency is achieved with density and compactness is suitable. The paper discusses the process of arriving at key design principles for a node or town which has a long history to arrive at a model for future towns in Udupi district. Public sector enterprises (PSEs) in India are under constant scrutiny to reduce their excessive burden on environment and labor force, while improving efficiency and effectiveness in a sustainable manner. Advances in manufacturing technologies and automation have forced PSEs in India towards digitalisation of industrial production and creating efficiencies. Consumers of products and services are inclined towards companies that have established Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices towards making societies better and saving lives. This study intends to determine the areas of convergence of Industry 4.0 and CSR in Indian PSEs, which could generate significant economic, environmental, and social benefits. and ultimately, sustainable. Orientating PSEs in India towards industry 4.0 has a direct impact on employees and, finally, on society. The world is facing serious threat due to global warming. Several measures have been proposed and the cost effective solution will be the “Tree Plantation”. However, each tree has its own CO2 absorption rate and growth. Based on the literature review, Leucaena leucocephala plant has the highest CO2 absorption rate and higher rate of growth. Also it is a tropical tree which can be grown in waste land in rural areas. The tree has multiple benefits like its leaves being used as fodder and the stem as fire wood. In India 1,00,000 hectares of land has this plantation and it yields 12,000 MT of biomass per year. It has been found that 30% oil yield can be obtained from the seeds. This oil has a calorific value of 39 MJ/kg which can replace the fossil fuel consumption. However, the present research work identified another route for bio-oil production from the seeds. Many large-diameter brick sewers were built in central Calcutta (now Kolkata), India during the 1870s. However, over the past century they have deteriorated due to age, changed land-use patterns, lack of adequate maintenance and failure of limited past measures to upgrade them. In 2007, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation embarked on a major project of refurbishing the most critical stretches of these man-entry brick sewers with an estimated initial cost of £70 million. The first phase of this work is due for completion in 2014. A cost-benefit analysis shows an economic internal rate of return of over 15%, amply justifying the investment towards sustainable renewal of an indispensable infrastructure component. Developing countries like India are increasingly under pressure to sign a binding emissions treaty to avert catastrophic climatic change. However, developing countries have argued that any international agreement should be based on historic responsibility, and per-capita emissions, with developed countries taking the primary responsibility to mitigate, and fund adaptation measures in other countries. Recently, India has shifted its position in international negotiations to indicate it may be willing to sign binding mitigation agreement in future, and domestically renewed its commitment to renewable energy through the Prime Minister's eight National Action Plans, and establishing Indian Network for Climate Change Assessment. This grounded theory study investigated the evolution of climate change discourse in India by analyzing 25 interviews of Indian climate policy elites, including scientists, energy policy experts, top government officials, and other NGO organizational members working actively in the field. Our analysis suggests that India's increasing vulnerability to climate change, taken together with concerns about domestic energy security, and the international aspirations of Indian government, have set the stage for a substantial shift in Indian climate change discourse, with broader implications for environmental governance, and sustainable development imperative.
