Abstract

India ranks second after the US in terms of green technology and development projects. Over the next decade, new discoveries coupled with green technologies could help India's growth story, turning India into one of the world's leading sustainable economies. The Indian green building market is estimated to double in the near future as more and more citizens become aware of the negative effects humans have caused to the earth due to the widespread use of minerals, artificial products, pesticides and so on. The research focuses on numerous literatures and attempts to assess the Green building adoption or implementation barriers in the residential construction. The goal is to find and assess obstacles by questionnaire survey using ranking based on individual stakeholder's perception from developing countries like India. The findings revealed that there is a need for a shift in stakeholder perceptions and attitudes toward green building development. This article will assist construction professionals in their decision-making, raise awareness about the advantages of using green buildings and mitigate the impact on future project costs in India.
