Variety identification is the prerequisite and foundation for ensuring the quality of traditional Chinese medicine. The safety risks, legal risks, and regulatory trends underline the importance of traditional Chinese medicine varieties. With the industrialization of traditional Chinese medicine and the production of Chinese medicinal materials from wild growing to cultivation and breeding, new varieties of traditional Chinese medicine keep emerging. At the same time, facing the requirements of the entire process control of traditional Chinese medicine quality under the new situation, the current identification technology of traditional Chinese medicine is facing severe challenges. According to the current situation and evolution trend of technologies for traditional Chinese medicine identification, chemical components as the material basis for the effects of traditional Chinese medicine not only have rich characteristics but also can run through the entire quality formation and transmission process of traditional Chinese medicine. Identifying traditional Chinese medicine based on chemical components is the only way to achieve integrated medicine quality and whole-process quality control. The introduction of modern analytical instruments improves the scope and efficiency of obtaining chemical information of traditional Chinese medicine. Big data and artificial intelligence provide new opportunities for deeply interpreting the scientific connotation of chemical characteristic information of traditional Chinese medicine and comprehensively identifying traditional Chinese medicine based on chemical characteristics. Artificial intelligence can be employed to extract high-dimensional chemical information patterns from comprehensive chemical quantitative information collected from a large number of samples, remove the interference of noise information, and discover the chemical characteristics(components, quantity values, and relative proportions of components) that determine the variety. This approach can help to achieve integrated quality identification based on chemical characteristics, reflect the quality transmission process of traditional Chinese medicine, and achieve quality information traceability, providing support for building a whole-process quality control system of traditional Chinese medicine.

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome-based efficacy is an evaluation index which is unique to TCM and can reflect the advantages of TCM. The development of the methods and measurement tools for evaluating TCM syndrome-based efficacy can provide objective and quantitative evidence for the clinical efficacy evaluation of TCM and the development of new Chinese medicine preparations, being the exploration direction of innovative methods and technologies for evaluating TCM efficacy. The conventional evaluation methods are subjective and limited to the mitigation of symptoms and the improvement of physical signs, which make it difficult to form a unified evaluation standard. In addition, the evaluation methods lack unity, objectivity, and quantitative research. The scientific connotation, evaluation ideas and methods, and key technologies of the evaluation for the therapeutic effect on syndromes remain unclear, which leads to diverse evaluation modes, methods, and indexes. The syndrome-based efficacy scale provides a new idea for the objective quantification and standardization of TCM syndromes. This review systematically summarizes the methods and problems, introduces the research progress in the evaluation scales, and puts forward some thoughts on the characteristics of TCM syndrome-based efficacy evaluation, aiming to provide insights for the research in this field.

This study aimed to investigate the regulatory effects of Zuogui Jiangtang Jieyu Formula(ZJJ) on the intestinal flora, short chain fatty acids(SCFAs), and neuroinflammation in rats with diabetes mellitus complicated depression(DD). The DD model was established in rats and model rats were randomly divided into a model group, a positive drug(metformin + fluoxetine) group, a ZJJ low-dose group, and a ZJJ high-dose group, with eight rats in each group. Another eight rats were assigned to the blank group. Subsequently, depressive-like behavior test was conducted on the rats, and cerebrospinal fluid samples were collected to measure pro-inflammatory cytokines [interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)]. Blood serum samples were collected to measure proteins related to the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis(HPA axis), including corticotropin-releasing hormone(CRH), adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH), and cortisol(CORT), as well as glucose metabolism. Gut contents were collected from each group for 16S rRNA sequencing analysis of intestinal flora and SCFAs sequencing. The results indicated that ZJJ not only improved glucose metabolism in DD rats(P<0.01) but also alleviated depressive-like behavior(P<0.05) and HPA axis hyperactivity(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Besides, it also improved the neuroinflammatory response in the brain, as evidenced by a significant reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokines in cerebrospinal fluid(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Additionally, ZJJ improved the intestinal flora, causing the intestinal flora in DD rats to resemble that of the blank group, characterized by an increased Firmicutes abundance. ZJJ significantly increased the levels of SCFAs(acetic acid, butyric acid, valeric acid, and isovaleric acid)(P<0.01). Therefore, it is deduced that ZJJ can effectively ameliorate intestinal flora dysbiosis, regulate SCFAs, and thereby improve both glucose metabolism disturbances and depressive-like behavior in DD.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of Wenyang Zhenshuai Granules(WYZSG) on autophagy and apoptosis of myocardial cells in rats with sepsis via regulating the expression of microRNA-132-3p(miR-132-3p)/uncoupling protein 2(UCP2). Sixty SD rats were randomly divided into modeling group(n=50) and sham operation group(n=10). The sepsis rat model was constructed by cecal ligation and perforation in the modeling group. The successfully modeled rats were randomly divided into WYZSG low-, medium-and high-dose groups, model group and positive control group. Rats in the sham operation group underwent opening and cecum division but without perforation and ligation. Hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining was used to observe the pathological changes of rat myocardial tissue. Myocardial cell apoptosis was detected by TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL) assay. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR) was performed to detect the expression of miR-132-3p and the mRNA expressions of UCP2, microtubule-associated protein light chain 3(LC3-Ⅱ/LC3-Ⅰ), Beclin-1 and caspase-3 in rat myocardial tissue. The protein expressions of UCP2, LC3-Ⅱ/LC3-Ⅰ, Beclin-1 and caspase-3 in myocardial tissue were detected by Western blot. Dual luciferase reporter assay was used to verify the regulatory relationship between miR-132-3p and UCP2. The myocardial fibers of sepsis model rats were disordered, and there were obvious inflammatory cell infiltration as well as myocardial cell edema and necrosis. With the increase of the WYZSG dose, the histopathological changes of myocardium were improved to varying degrees. Compared with the conditions in the sham operation group, the survival rate and left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) of rats in the model group, positive control group and WYZSG low-, medium-and high-dose groups were decreased, and the myocardial injury score and apoptosis rate were increased. Compared with the model group, the positive control group and WYZSG low-, medium-and high-dose groups had elevated survival rate and LVEF, and lowered myocardial injury score and apoptosis rate. The expression of miR-132-3p and the mRNA and protein expressions of UCP2 in myocardial tissue in the model group, positive control group and WYZSG low-, medium-and high-dose groups were lower, while the mRNA and protein expressions of LC3-Ⅱ/LC3-Ⅰ, Beclin-1 and caspase-3 were higher than those in the sham operation group. Compared with model group, the positive control group and the WYZSG low-, medium-and high-dose groups had an up-regulation in the expression of miR-132-3p and the mRNA and protein expressions of UCP2, while a down-regulation in the mRNA and protein expressions of LC3-Ⅱ/LC3-Ⅰ, Beclin-1 and caspase-3. WYZSG inhibited excessive autophagy and apoptosis of myocardial cells in septic rats and improved myocardial injury, possibly by regulating the expression of miR-132-3p/UCP2.

This study aimed to further explore the relevant mechanism of action by network pharmacology integrated with animal experimental verification based on previous proven effective treatment of vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis(CSA) by Panlongqi Tablets. Bionetwork analysis was performed to establish drug-disease interaction network, and it was found that the key candidate targets of Panlongqi Tablets were enriched in multiple signaling pathways related to CSA pathological links, among which phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3 K)/serine-threonine kinase(AKT/PKB) signaling pathway was the most significant. Further, mixed modeling method was used to build the CSA rat model, and the rats were divided into normal, model, Panlongqi Tablets low-, medium-and high-dose(0.16, 0.32, 0.64 g·kg~(-1)) and Jingfukang Granules(positive drug, 1.35 g·kg~(-1)) groups. After successful modeling, the rats were administered for 8 consecutive weeks. Pathological changes of rat cervical muscle tissues were detected by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining, and the content of interleukin-1β(IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), vascular endothelial cell growth factor(VEGF) and chemokine(C-C motif) ligand 2(CCL2) in rat serum and/or cervical tissues was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Western blot was employed to detect the protein expression levels of chemokine(C-C motif) receptor 2(CCR2), PI3 K, AKT, phosphorylated AKT(p-AKT), I-kappa-B-kinase beta(IKK-beta/IKKβ), nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB P65) and phosphorylated nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB p-P65) in rat cervical tissues, and positive expression of p-NF-κB P65 in rat cervical muscle tissues was detected by immunofluorescence. The results showed that Panlongqi Tablets at different doses improved the degree of muscle fibrosis and inflammation in cervical muscle tissues of CSA rats, and reduced the content of inflammatory factors IL-1β, TNF-α, VEGF, CCL2 and CCR2 in serum and/or cervical tissues. The protein expression levels of PI3 K, p-AKT, IKKβ and p-NF-κB P65 as well as the nuclear entry of p-NF-κB P65 in cervical tissues were down-regulated. These findings suggest that Panlongqi Tablets can significantly inhibit the inflammatory response of CSA rats, and the mechanism of action may be related to the down-regulation of the activation of PI3 K/AKT signaling pathway.

This study aimed to observe the intervention effect of Jianpi Huogu Formula(JPHGF) on the functional damage of vascular endothelial cells caused by glucocorticoid, and explore its action mechanism from the PI3 K/Akt and mitogen activated protein kinase(MAPK) signaling pathways. The extracted thoracic aorta ring of normal SD rats were intervened first with vascularendothelial growth factor(VEGF, 20 μg·L-1) and/or sodium succinate(MPS, 0. 04 g·L-1) in vitro and then with JPHGF(8, 16, and 32 μg·L-1) for five mcontinuous ethylpdays, rednisolofollowed nebythe statistics of the number, length, and area of microvessels budding fromvascular rings. In addition, the human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) induced by VEGF(20 μg·L-1) were added with MPS(0. 04 g·L-1) and then with JPHGF(8, 16, and 32 μg·L-1) for observing the migration, invasion, and luminal formation abilities of HUVECs in the migration, invasion and luminal formation experiments. The protein expression levels of PI3 K, p-Akt, p-JN K, and p-ERK in HUVECs were assayed by Western blot. The results showed that JPHGF dose-dependently improved the num-ber,length, and area of microvessels in MPS-induced rat thoracic aortic ring, reversed the migration, invasion and lumen formation abiliti es of HUVECs reduced by MPS, and up-regulated the protein expression levels of PI3 K, p-Akt, and p-JNK in HUVECs. All thesehave suggested that JPHGF exerts the protective effect against hormone-induced damage to the angiogenesis of vascular endothelial cells by activating the PI3 K/Akt and MAPK signaling pathways, which has provided reference for exploring the mechanism of JPHGF in treating s teroid-induced avascular necrosis of femoral head(SANFH) and also the experimental evidence for enriching the scientific connotationof spleen-invigorating and blood-activating therapy.

Bombesin receptor subtype-3(BRS-3) is an orphan receptor in the bombesin receptor family. Its signal transduction mechanism and biological function have attracted much attention. Seeking the ligand for BRS-3 is of great significance for exploring its function. Considering the fact that the activation of BRS-3 receptor can induce the change in intracellular Ca~(2+) concentration, the fluo-rometric imaging plate reader(FLIPR) was utilized for ligand screening at the cellular level. Among more than 400 monomeric compounds isolated from Chinese herbs, yuanhunine from Corydalis Rhizoma and sophoraisoflavanone A and licoriphenone from Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma antagonized BRS-3 to varying degrees. It was confirmed in HEK293 cells expressing BRS-3 that yuanhunine, sophoraisoflavanone A, and licoriphenone inhibited the calcium current response after the activation of BRS-3 by [D-Phe~6,β-Ala~(11),Phe~(13),Nle~(14)]bombesin-(6-14) in a dose-dependent manner with the IC_(50) values being 8.58, 4.10, and 2.04 μmol·L~(-1), respectively. Further study indicated that yuanhunine and sophoraisoflavanone A exhibited good selectivity for BRS-3. In this study, it was found for the first time that monomers derived from Chinese herbs had antagonistic activity against orphan receptor BRS-3, which has provided a tool for further study of BRS-3 and also the potential lead compounds for new drug discovery. At the same time, it provides reference for the research and development of innovative drugs based on the active ingredients of Chinese herbs.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of serum containing ginseng and Moutan Cortex on human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVEC) injured with hydrogen peroxide(H_2O_2). HUVEC injured with H_2O_2 were divided into 6 groups, namely blank group, model group, ginsenoside(TGG) group, total glucosides of Moutan Cortex(TGM) group, paeonol(P) group and TGG+TGM+P group. After 24 hours of co-culture with H_2O_2, the activities of succinate dehydrogenase(SDH) and Ca~(2+)-Mg~(2+)-ATP were detected by microenzyme labeling. The apoptosis rate, intracellular Ca~(2+) concentration, reactive oxygen species(ROS) and mitochondrial membrane potential(JC-1) were detected by flow cytometry. The expressions of mitochondrial apoptosis pathway-related proteins Bax, Bcl-2, cytochrome C, caspase-3 and caspase-9 were detected by Western blot. The results showed that H_2O_2 could significantly damage HUVEC, decrease the activity of SDH and Ca~(2+)-Mg~(2+)-ATP(P<0.01), while could increase the apoptosis+necrosis rate, JC-1 decline rate, ROS increase rate and Ca~(2+) concentration increase rate(P<0.01). Serum containing ginseng and Moutan Cortex could increase the activities of SDH and Ca~(2+)-Mg~(2+)-ATP to different degrees, decrease the apoptosis+necrosis rate, JC-1 decline rate, ROS increase rate and Ca~(2+) concentration increase rate(P<0.05 or P<0.01), and down-regulate the protein expressions of Bax, caspase-3, caspase-9, cytochrome C, and up-regulate the protein expression of Bcl-2. The results showed that serum containing ginseng and Moutan Cortex has a protective effect on vascular endothelial cell injury induced by ROS, and its mechanism may be related to the improvement of mitochondrial function and the inhibition of the activation of mitochondrial apoptosis pathway.

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) remote sensing and vegetation index have great potential in the field of Chinese herbal medicine planting. In this study, the visible light image of Polygonatum odoratum planting area in Changyi district of Jilin province were acquired by UAV, and the real-time monitoring of P. odoratum planting area was realized. The green leaf index(GLI) was established, and GLI values of P. odoratum were collected used the spatial sampling points. To compare the GLI values in different periods, it was found that the GLI values of P. odoratum have three stages changing rule of rising-gentle-falling related to the germination, vigorous growth and withered of P. odoratum growth. Meanwhile, the GLI values were compared with four biomass data of P. odoratum, including plant height, leaf area, chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b content in leaves, and it was found that the GLI value was related to the growth potential of P. odoratum. The GLI value with a rapid increase in rising stage or at a high level in the gentle stage means the P. odoratum was in a better growth potential. GLI value has a same change trend with plant height, and has certain correlation with plant height and leaf area. However, there is no obvious relationship between chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b contents in leaves and GLI value. The study clarified the change rule of GLI value of P. odoratum, explained the reason for the change of GLI value, and expanded the application range of GLI. The research shows that UAV and vegetation index can be applied to monitoring the Chinese herbal medicines planting, and provides a new idea for exploring more effective information extraction methods of Chinese herbal medicines.

Wogonin is a main effective component of Scutellaria baicalensis, with a significant anti-cancer activity. Recently, extensive studies focused on anti-cancer pharmacological effects of wogonin, but there were still a few studies on its molecular mechanism. Therefore, the molecular targets of its anti-cancer activity were still unclear. In this study, network pharmacology was applied to investigate the potential targets and molecular pathway of wogonin in inhibiting the growth of colorectal cancer. It indicated that Wnt/β-catenin was a key pathway of wogonin on colorectal cancer. Then, pharmacology and molecular mechanism studies were performed according to network pharmacological results. Pharmacological results revealed that wogonin inhibited significantly the proliferation of SW480(P<0.001), with a concentration-dependent regularity in the range of 12.5-50 μmol·L~(-1). Additionally, wogonin could induce G&#95;1 phase blocking of SW480 cells. Western blot was used to investigate the effect of wogonin on four characteristic proteins of Wnt/β-catenin pathway. CTNNB1(β-catenin), BIRC5(survivin) and GSK3 B were down-regulated significantly, while the expression level of BAX was up-regulated(P<0.05). In conclusion, wogonin could inhibit the proliferation of SW480 cells through Wnt/β-catenin pathway. The feature protein CTNNB1(β-catenin), BIRC5(survivin), GSK3 B and BAX were identified as the potential targets. This study illuminated the anti-cancer molecular mechanism and drug targets of wogonin, which provided a theoretical basis for anti-colon cancer drug discovery and clinical application.

The aim was to observe the analgesic effect of Fengshi Qutong Capsules(FSQTC) on chronic inflammatory pain in mice, and investigate its effect on p-ERK/COX-2 signal molecular activity. A model of chronic inflammatory pain was induced in mice by complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA). The mice were divided into normal control group, model group, model+FSQTC 0.3, 0.6 and 1.2 g·kg~(-1 )groups, model+positive control drug ibuprofen(IBP, 0.34 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)) group, and normal control+ FSQTC 1.2 g·kg~(-1)group. FSQTC or IBP was given once a day by oral administration. Standard Von Frey fiber was used to evaluate the mechanical pain threshold, and the acetone stimulation was used to induce inflammatory plantar and observe the cold pain reaction scores. The mechanical pain threshold and cold pain reaction scores were observed before administration and 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 h after administration on the first day, as well as 3 h after administration on the 3 rd to 7 th day. The protein levels of PGE&#95;2, COXs-1,2 and p-ERK in the spinal cord of the inflammatory foot and lumbar 4-5 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, Western blot, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. The results showed that the mechanical pain threshold of the model group decreased and the cold pain reaction score increased as compared with the normal group. FSQTC application could dose-dependently increase the mechanical pain threshold and decrease the cold pain reaction score. The effect lasted for 6 h, most significant at 3 h. The effect of ibuprofen was similar to that of the 0.6 g·kg~(-1) dose group. In addition, FSQTC could reduce the abnormally increased protein content of PGE&#95;2, COX-2 and p-ERK in the inflammatory foot and/or spinal cord of the model group, and the effect was most significant in middle and high dose groups. However, it had no effect on COX-1 in the inflammatory foot and spinal cord of mice. The results suggest that FSQTC has ob-vious analgesic effect on chronic inflammatory pain in mice, which may be related to inhibition of p-ERK/COX-2 signaling pathway.

To evaluate the clinical efficacy of single administration of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets(TGT) or combined administration with methotrexate(MTX) against rheumatoid arthritis(RA) based on American College of Rheumatology(ACR) efficacy standard. Six databases, namely CNKI, WanFang, VIP, PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library, were retrieved for randomized controlled trials(RCT), and clinical trials were screened out according to the preset inclusion and exclusion criteria. Then, the study quality was evaluated by the risk assessment tools. Data extraction and analysis were performed by using RevMan 5.3 software for Meta-analysis. Sensitivity analysis and publication bias analysis were made to test the stability and reliability of results. Until December 2018, a total of 1 709 articles were obtained, and finally 10 clinical RCT studies with a total of 1 184 patients were included. As a result, the single administration of TGT showed a significantly better ACR efficiency(RR=1.31, 95%CI[1.15, 1.49], P&lt;0.000 1) than methotrexate(MTX). The combined administration of TGT and MTX showed a significantly better ACR efficiency(RR=1.28, 95%CI[1.20, 1.38], P&lt;0.000 01) than the single administration of MTX. In conclusion, the single administration of TGT and the combined administration of TGT and MTX were more effective in achieving ACR20, ACR50, ACR70 compliance than the single administration of MTX. Further validations based on more RCT studies with high-quality are required.

The aim of this paper was to compare different effects of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets from 6 different manufacturers on multiple organ injuries in rats and to explore mechanism of hepatotoxicity preliminarily from the perspective of apoptosis and oxidative stress. Rats were randomly divided into the groups normal, Zhejiang, Hunan, Hubei, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Fujian(7 groups with 16 rats in each group, sex in half). Rats were given Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets at 144 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)(16 times the clinical equivalent dose) once a day according to its corresponding group like rats in Zhejiang group was given Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets from Zhejiang manufactures continuously for 20 days with the life and death situation of mice to be observed, then rats were executed to detect various indicators. RESULTS:: showed that 8 female rats in Zhejiang group died after 15 days of administration, the serum NEUT of rats in Hubei, Fujian and Shanghai groups was significantly lower than that of normal rats. The serum AST, ALT and/or TBiL levels were increased in all rats, and serum BUN and/or CRE levels of rats were also increased in Hunan, Hubei, Fujian and Shanghai groups. In dosage groups, testicular and ovarian coefficients of rats were reduced, the number of sperm were significant decreased while the rate of sperm malformation increased and sperm dynamics parameters of normal, especially in Jiangsu and Zhejiang groups. Liver histopathology and apoptosis of liver cells were observed in dosage groups, especially in Jiangsu and Hubei groups. In liver, Nrf2, HO-1 and Bcl-2 were inhibited and the protein expression level of Bax were increased simultaneously in dosage groups. These results showed that all Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets from 6 manufacturers could lead to chronic multiple organ injuries with disparate specialties in rats, and Jiangsu and Zhejiang groups were more toxic. It could be the mechanism promoting mitochondrial mediated Bax/Bcl-2 cell apoptosis signaling pathway and negatively regulating Nrf2/HO-1 oxidative stress signaling pathway that Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets from 6 different manufacturers resulted in chronic liver injury, the results above were for reference only in subsequent study.

To systematically evaluate the effects of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets alone or in combination with methotrexate(MTX) and leflunomide(LEF) on the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in patients or animal models with rheumatoid arthritis(RA), and to provide reference for clinical application and related basic research, this study systematically searched databases of CNKI, VIP, WanFang, PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library, collected relevant clinical or animal experimental studies, used risk assessment tools to evaluate the quality of research, and used Revman 5.3 software to conduct Meta-analysis or descriptive analysis of the outcome indicators included in the literatures. Of the 1 709 papers retrieved, 3 clinical studies and 12 animal experiments were included. The results showed that compared with MTX alone, Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets combined with MTX could further reduce the expression levels of peripheral blood TNF-α(SMD=-8.88,95%CI[-10.77,-6.99],P&lt;0.000 01),IL-1β(P&lt;0.000 01) and IL-6(SMD=-8.63, 95%CI[-10.57,-6.69], P&lt;0.000 01) in RA patients. Compared with LEF alone, the combination of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets and LEF could not further reduce the expression levels of TNF-α(P=0.20), IL-1β(P=0.17), IL-6(P=0.31). In RA animal model, compared with model group, Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets could reduce the expression levels of peripheral blood IL-1β(SMD=-6.29,95%CI[-9.64,-2.93],P&lt;0.000 2)in peripheral blood(SMD=-1.39,95%CI[-1.77,-1.02],P&lt;0.000 01), joint fluid(P&lt;0.000 01) and paw plasma(P=0.02), and also reduce the expression levels of TNF-α in RA animal model group. Compared with MTX alone, Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets alone reduced the same levels of TNF-α(P=0.42) and IL-6(P=0.08) in joint fluid, while Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets combined with MTX could further reduce the levels of IL-6(P=0.000 1) in joint fluid; compared with LEF alone, Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets have the similar effects on reducing the expression levels of peripheral blood TNF-α(P=0.16), IL-1β(P=0.32), IL-6(P=0.12), while Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets combined with LEF could further reduce the expression levels of TNF-α(P=0.008), IL-1β(P=0.02), IL-6(P&lt;0.000 1) in peripheral blood. Therefore, Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets combined with MTX could further reduce the expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in peripheral blood of RA patients. Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets alone could reduce the expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in peripheral blood and local joint of RA animal models. Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets combined with MTX or LEF could further reduce the express levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in peripheral blood of RA animal models. Due to the limitation of literature, this conclusion needs to be further validated.

To systematically evaluate the adverse drug reaction(ADR) of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets(TGT) in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA). Four Chinese databases(CNKI, VIP, WanFang, SinoMed) and three English databases(Cochrane Library, EMbase, PubMed), from the time of database establishing to August 2019, were systematically retrieved to collect literature on the treatment of all types of RA with TG. Screening literature and extracting data according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. All studies were assessed by using internationally recognized methodological quality assessment tools or reporting quality evaluation criteria, with data being extracted and Meta-analyzed. There were 79 studies included, randomized controlled trials(RCT) containing TGT in the treatment group, non-randomized controlled trials(non-RCT), case series, case reports, and RCT containing TGT only in the control group were covered. There were in the control group; 765 ADR of 2 214 patients in 30 RCT(treatment group given TGT), 11 non-RCT and 7 case reports. The results of Meta-analysis of these 48 literatures showed that the overall incidence of ADRs was 0.23(95%CI[0.22,0.24]); ADR mainly occured in the reproductive, gastrointestinal, skin and accessories, blood, hepatobiliary system damage and the incidence of ADR in systems mentioned about respectively were 0.14(95%CI[0.12,0.17]),0.07(95%CI[0.06,0.08]),0.06(95%CI[0.04,0.07]),0.04(95%CI[0.03,0.05]),0.04(95%CI[0.03,0.05]). Further subgroup analysis results showed that the incidence of total ADR, especially the gastrointestinal, reproductive and cutaneous ADR of patients with treatment alone was higher than that in those paients with MTX or MTX+LEF therapy; The incidence of ADR, especially the gastrointestinal ADR, was also positively correlated with daily dose and course of treatment, while the incidence of different systems ADR was also correlated with different drug manufacturers, for instance, damage on the female reproductive system occurs most frequently in Hunan manufacture TGT administration, same as the damage on skin and accessories induced by TGT from Jiangsu manufacture. Above all, The clinical treatment of TGT for RA will cause multi-system ADR, with the highest incidence in the reproductive system, followed by the gastrointestinal system, which is closely related to the way of medication(monotherapy), daily dose, course of medication and drug manufacturer. Therefore, it is recommended that, in the treatment of RA, using TGT in combination, low dose or short-course medication, take measures to protect the reproductive system, stomach and liver, and paying attention to the drug manufacturer as well response of patients during administration should be valued to avoid ADRs to the maximum possibility.

To systematically review the improvement effects of Tripterygium Glycosides Tables( TGT) alone or in combination with methotrexate( MTX) on the clinical signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis( RA),and provide a basis for the rational use of TGT in clinic,in the current study,six literature databases including CNKI,Wan Fang,VIP,PubMed,EMbase,and Cochrane Library,were systematically searched,according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Review Manager 5.3 software was used to input the literatures,and we assessed the risk bias on the level of outcome indicators for each included literature. A total of 18 literatures were included,and the classification results showed that: compared with MTX,TGT alone can reduce the number of joint swelling( MD =0. 18,95%CI[-1.06,1.42],P = 0.78) and joint tenderness( MD =-0.06,95% CI[-1.69,1.56],P = 0.94) in RA patients with the same effect as MTX. In terms of drug combination,TGT combined with MTX had an advantage over MTX alone in lessening the morning stiffness time( MD = 18. 24,95% CI[12. 64,23. 84],P < 0. 000 01) of RA,joint tenderness( MD = 2. 65,95% CI[1. 85,3. 44],P<0.000 01) and joint swelling( MD = 3.01,95% CI[2.09,3.39],P< 0.000 01). In conclusion,this Meta-analysis suggest that TGT alone was superior to MTX in improving joint swelling and tenderness in RA patients,TGT combined with MTX may improve the clinical manifestation of RA patients better than MTX alone.

The aim of this paper was to compare the performance of acute liver injury in mice induced by Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets from 6 different manufacturers,and to explore the toxicity mechanism from the perspective of oxidative stress and apoptosis preliminarily. Male or female mice were randomly divided into normal group,Zhejiang group,Hunan group,Hubei group,Shanghai group,Jiangsu group and Fujian group. Mice in Tripgerygium Glycosides Tablets groups were given 16 times the clinical equivalent dose( 300 mg·kg-1) Tripgerygium Glycosides Tablets by oral administration for one time,mice were executed in 24 h after lavaged.Then the visceral brain coefficient of the organ was calculated. Histopathological changes of liver were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. Td T-mediated d UTP nick-end labeling was used to detect the apoptosis of the liver cells and the protein content of oxidative stress related factors in liver homogenate. Nuclear transcription factor E2-related factor( Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1( HO-1) as well as mitochondrial mediated apoptosis-related protein expression levels of Bax and Bcl-2 in hepatic tissue were measured by Western blot.Within 24 hours of administration,6 male mice in Jiangsu group and 2 female mice in Zhejiang group were dying; compared with normal ones,liver coefficients of mice in Zhejiang,Shanghai,Jiangsu and Hunan groups were significantly increased,thymus coefficients in the first two groups were significantly reduced,as well as the lung coefficients of Fujian group mice,the rest was normal. In addition to Hubei group,serum AST,ALT or ALP levels of mice were increased,while TBi L were not being affected. Histopathological changes and apoptosis of liver cells were observed in all mice,and the degree of severity was ranked as Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Shanghai,Hunan,Hubei and Fujian group. All Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets increased the MDA and reduced the content of T-SOD,CAT or GSH in liver tissue while inhibited Nrf2,HO-1 and Bcl-2,increased the protein expression level of Bax( except Hunan group). Tripgerygium Glycosides Tablets from 6 manufacturers all resulted in liver function damage and liver histopathological changes,especially in Jiangsu,Hubei and Fujian,and the mechanism may related to inhibit Nrf2/HO-1 oxidative stress pathway and activate Bax/Bcl-2 apoptosis pathway to mediate lipid peroxidation and induce liver cell apoptosis. Triptolide A may be one of the main toxic components of Tripgerygium Glycosides Tablets that causing drug-induced liver injury. This study was conducted on normal mice with super dose medication,so the relevant results are for reference only.

The aim of this study was to systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of Tripterysium Glycosides Tablets( TGT) alone or in combination with methotrexate( MTX) in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis( RA) based on the laboratory index criteria and to provide a basis for the clinical application of TGT against RA. Six databases including CNKI,Wan Fang,VIP,PubMed,EMbase and Cochrane were retrieved for randomized controlled trials( RCT) about TGT alone or combination with MTX in the treatment of RA.Then risk assessment tools were used for quality evaluation of the studies,and data extraction and analysis were conducted by using Rev Man 5.3 software for Meta-analysis. A total of 1 709 articles were retrieved,and finally 25 studies were included,with a total sample size of 2 507 cases. Meta-analysis results showed that between TGT alone and TGT alone,MDESR=-2. 66,95%CI[-8.17,2.86],P = 0.35; MDCRP=-2.38,95%CI[-9.01,4.24],P = 0.48; between TGT combined with MTX and MTX alone,MDESR= 8.74,95%CI[6.72,10.76],P<0.000 01; MDCRP= 5.37,95%CI[3.71,7.03],P<0.000 01; SMDRF= 1.05,95%CI[0.51,1.60],P = 0.000 1.The effect of TGT on decreasing CRP and ESR in RA patients was similar to the MTX. In addition,TGT combined with MTX were more effective in decreasing CRP,ESR,RF than MTX alone. However,due to the potential bias in the included studies,more and high-quality randomized controlled trials would be needed to improve the level of evidence.

To observe the effect of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets on angiogenesis of rats with type Ⅱ collagen-induced arthritis( CIA) and on the tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells( HUVEC) in vitro. The HUVEC were induced by 20 μg·L-1 vascular endothelial growth factor( VEGF) in vitro,and were treated with 0. 1,1,10 mg·L-1 Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets continuously for 7 hours. The numbers of branches of tube formation were measured. SD rats were immunized to establish CIA. CIA rats were treated with 9,18,36 mg·kg-1·d-1 Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets for 42 days. Histopathological examination( HE) was performed to observe the vascular morphology and vascular density in the synovial membrane of the inflamed joints. Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence were performed to observe the expression of platelets-endothelial cell adhesion molecule( CD31) and αsmooth muscle actin( αSMA) in synovial membrane. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were performed to observe the expression of hypoxia-inducible factors 1α( HIF1α) and angiotensin 1( Ang1) in the synovial tissue. The results showed that the numbers of branches of tube formation of HUVEC induced by VEGF were improved,and declined significantly after treated by Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets. Compared with the normal group,the vascular density,CD31 positive expression,CD31 +/αSMA-immature and total vascular positive expression in the synovial membrane of the model group were significantly increased,and so as HIF1α and Ang1 in the synovium. Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets reduced the synovial vascular density and inhibited the positive expression of CD31,CD31+/αSMA-immature blood vessels and total vascular,but has no effect on CD31+/αSMA+mature blood vessels. Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets also inhibited the expression of HIF1α and Ang1 in synovial membrane of inflammatory joints. Our results demonstrated that Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets could inhibit the angiogenesis of synovial tissue in CIA rats and the tube formation of HUVEC,which is related to the down-regulation of HIF1α/Ang1 signal axis.

Epimedii Folium,a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine,has the effect of tonifying kidney Yang,strengthening bones and treating rheumatism. However,in recent years,the number of reports on adverse reactions of Epimedii Folium and its Chinese patent medicines such as Xianling Gubao Capsules and Zhuanggu Guanjie Pills has been gradually increased,and the toxicity of Epimedii Folium has attracted more and more attention. In this article,the ancient and modern literature on Epimedii Folium was traced through a comprehensive and systematic literature analysis method. According to the 2015 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia,Epimedii Folium refers to the dried leaves of Epimedii Folium brevicomu,E. sugittutum,E. pubescens or E. koreuuum. The Chinese Pharmacopoeia also includes E. wushanense of Wushan Epimedium,which is the same plant variety as Epimedium. The study showed that there were differences in the geographical distribution,composition and toxicity among five species of Epimedium. This paper also explained the toxicity mechanism as well as efficacy enhancing and toxicity reducing effects of Epimedii Folium,and reported its related adverse reaction cases. Through a retrospective comparative study on the toxicity of the modern Chinese patent medicines Xianling Gubao Capsules and Zhuanggu Guanjie Pills containing Epimedii Folium,it was believed that Epimedii Folium had cardiovascular system toxicity,neurotoxicity,hepatotoxicity,long-term toxicity,acute toxicity,genotoxicity and special toxicity; its safe medication factors included patient syndrome,doctor factors,drug factors,processing and compatibility factors. Meanwhile,strategies were proposed to improve patient safety medication awareness,standardize Epimedii Folium varieties and quality supervision,and the toxicity of Epimedii Folium was studied,hoping to draw attention from scholars to the safety of Epimedii Folium,improve the safe use of Epimedii Folium,and prevent adverse reactions.

To observe the effect of Fengshi Qutong Capsules(FSQTC) on angiogenesis of rat aortarings and in knee joint synovium of type Ⅱ collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) rats. The blood vessel of aorta rings of normal SD rats were induced by vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) 20 μg·L~(-1 )in vitro, and were treated with FSQTC(0.02, 0.1 and 0.5 μg·L~(-1)) continuously for 9 days. The number, length and area of neovascularization of the vascular ring were measured. SD rats were immunized to establish collagen-induced arthritis. CIA rats were treated with FSQTC(0.25, 0.5, 1 g·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)) and methotrexate(0.2 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)) daily for 19 days. Histopathological examination(HE) was performed to observe the vascular morphology and vascular density in the synovial membrane of the inflamed joint. Immunohistochemistry was performed to observe the expression of platelets-endothelial cell adhesion molecule(CD31), VEGF and VEGF receptor 2(VEGFR&#95;2)in the synovium. Immunofluorescence was performed to observe the expression of CD31 and α smooth muscle actin(αSMA) in synovial membrane.TGF-β, PDGF and VEGFR&#95;2 in serum were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The number, branch length and area of blood vessels of aorta rings were significantly increased induced by VEGF, and FSQTC could significantly reduce the number, branch length and area of blood vessels. Compared with the normal group, the vascular density, CD31 positive expression, CD31~+/αSMA~- immature and total vascular positive expression in the synovial membrane of the model group were significantly increased, and so as VEGF and VEGFR&#95;2 in the synovium. The VEGFR&#95;2, TGF-β and PDGF in sera were also significantly increased in model group. FSQTC reduced the synovial vascular density and inhibited the positive expression of CD31, CD31~+/αSMA~- immature blood vessels and total vascular. FSQTC has no significant effect on CD31~+/αSMA~+mature blood vessels. FSQTC also negatively inhibited the expression of VEGF, VEGFR&#95;2, TGF-β and PDGF in synovial membrane and/or sera. The effect of methotrexate is similar with to the high dose group. Our results demonstrated that FSQTC could inhibit the angiogenesis of synovial tissue in CIA rats and of aortaring in rats, which is related to the reduction of angiogenesis regulatory factor.

To investigate the effects of Gegen Qinlian decoction on the expression of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and multi-drug resistance protein (MRP) in epithelial cells of human colon adenocarcinoma Caco-2 cells．The effects of different concentrations of Gegen Qinlian decoction on the expression levels of p-gp and MRP1-6 mRNA in Caco-2 cells were detected by real time quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR (qRT-PCR).12 h after drug treatment (5.00 g·L⁻¹), the expression levels of MDR1 and MRP1-6 were significantly down-regulated at concentration of 5.00 g·L⁻¹; the mRNA expression levels of MDR1，MRP1，MRP2，MRP4，MRP5 and MRP6 were significantly down-regulated at concentration of 2.50 g·L⁻¹; only the expression levels of MRP2 and MRP5 were significantly affected at concentration of 1.00 g·L⁻¹. The results showed that the expression levels of MDR1 and MRP1-6 mRNA in Caco-2 cells could be down-regulated in a dose-dependent manner. Through the comprehensive and systematic research of domestic and overseas literature and information, we studied ancient original records on Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix and its toxicity, analyzed related adverse cases and the animal toxicity experiments in recent years, then systematically analyzed the safety of Aconitum and its preparations, and finally we summarized the clinical characteristics and potential risk factors related to the safety of Aconitum. A report on adverse events of Aconitum in 76 patients with myocardial damage and renal damage accounting for 53.9% and 42.1% respectively, indicated that the safety problems of Aconitum may be related to heart toxicity and liver-kidney toxicity. Aconitum had complex compositions, and based on the animal experiments, Aconitum decoction had the highest toxicity at 2 h, and it reduced significantly at 4 h, which showed that the toxic components mainly depend on the hydrolysis or the decomposition degree of diester diterpenoid alkaloids. According to the toxicity study, Aconitum toxicity might occur in cardiovascular system, nervous system, kidney, embryo, reproductive system, and it was contraindicated in pregnant women. So far, specific antidote for aconitine poisoning is still a blank. The key for treatment is to correct arrhythmia timely and effectively, maintain stable vital signs, and meanwhile, give gastric lavage, intravenous fluid infusion and other therapies. A new triterpenoid saponin named esculentoside U(1), along with the five known compounds, was isolated and characterized from the roots of Phytolacca acinosa, a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine with anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatoid activities. The structure of the new saponin was elucidated as 3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-D-xylopyranosyl]-2, 23-dihydroxyolean-11, 13(18)-diene-28, 29-dioic acid 29-methyl ester(1). Menopausal women appear lipid metabolism disorder with the ovarian function decline and the estrogen levels decreased. Modern clinical usually use estrogen replacement therapy and with long time application with lots of side effect appear. Traditional Chinese medicine has more secure and effective methords,using warming Yang drugs and methods. And the previous study proves the Chinese medicine Astragali Complanati Semen water extraction has a good role in regulation of blood lipids. Because of the liver is the most important organ on regulating metabolism, therefore this study aimed to evaluate the effects of total flavonoids in Astragali Complanati Semen(TFS)on liverlipid level and ERα expressionon liver in hyperlipidemia rats with kidney-Yang deficiency pattern to explore the substance basis and mechanism of Astragali Complanati Semen in regulate lipid effect and clarify traditional Chinese medicine advantages and features. This experiment uses hyperlipidemia rats with kidney-Yang deficiency pattern with bilateral ovariectomized and fed with high fat diet for 6 weeks. And rats of sham operation group and model group rats were intragastrilly(ig) with saline, estrogen group were intragastrilly with estrogen(0.2 mg·kg⁻¹). And three TFS group were intragastrilly with TFS at dose 28.5, 57, 114 mg·kg⁻¹ for 8 weeks. At the same time, TC, TG, LDL-C,HDL-C liver weight, liver index, uterine weight, uterine index, serum estrogen level, FSH levels and liver pathology, liver estrogen receptor expression were detected, weighting and calculating their organ index. The experimental results compared with the model group, TFS 114 mg·kg⁻¹ decreased the level of liver TG ( P <0.05), TC ( P <0.001) and LDL-C ( P <0.001) and increased the level of HDL-C ( P <0.05). Compared with the model group, estrogen group increased the level of blood serum ( P <0.001) and decreased the level of FSH ( P <0.001). In addition, compared with sham operation group,model group decreased the protein expression of ERα（ P <0.01）. Compared with the model group, estrogen group increased the protein expression of ERα significantly（ P <0.001）.TFS mid-dose group and TFS high-dose group is increased the protein expression of ERα（ P <0.01, P <0.001）.In a conclusion,Flavonoids is the main active ingredient of Astragali Complanati Semen. The aim is to systemically review and evaluate the safety of Sophora tonkinensis from the literature on the herbal origin, toxicity record in modern literature and toxicological studies and publications in recent years. By systematic review and analysis, the results showed that its toxicity mainly involved the nervous system, the digestive system and the respiratory system, and respiratory failure may be the direct cause of death. The main symptoms included headache, dizziness, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, limbs weakness, palpitation, and chest distress; as well as pale complexion, limbs trembling, convulsions, chills, high heart rate, fall of blood pressure, shock, and respiratory failure to death in severe cases. High dose and long term medication may cause serious brain damage, especially in adolescents and children. The authors have proposed to use rationally under guidance of physician and strictly according to the dosage recommended by pharmacopoeia. The patients shall not be credulous about the folk prescriptions and test recipes to use it for,prevention of colds and treatment of sore throat at will. In addition, the researches on the conventional treatment methods for S. tonkinensis poisoning, the toxic substance basis, and toxicity mechanism shall be strengthened in further studies. By retrieving domestic and foreign literatures, the authors provided a systematic review for effects of Xanthii Fructus, toxicity recorded in ancient/current literatures and relevant toxicological experience, and summarized clinical characteristics of clinical cases related to Xanthii Fructus and influencing factors. In addition to liver and kidney injuries as the major side effects of Xanthii Fructus, neurotoxicity and cardio-toxicity of Xanthii Fructus were also common clinical adverse events. However, there have been a few animal experimental studies so far. Oral administration and external application with Xanthii Fructus have often caused skin reactions, even such severe cases as exfoliative dermatitis. The authors systemically evaluated and analyzed the safety of Areca catechu from domestic and foreign literatures about the herbal origin, toxicity recorded in ancient/current documents, safety case reports of clinical A. catechu, experimental studies on toxicity in recent years, and differences of safety risk between edible and medicinal A. catechu. Subsequently, they proposed a preliminary summary about the clinical characteristics and potential risk factors of safety related cases of A. catechu and its preparations. To study the effects of AÇaí(Euterpe oleracea) on lipid metabolism, immune substances and endocrine hormone level in rats with deficiency-heat and deficiency-cold syndrome. SD rats were divided into blank control group, deficiency-heat model group, deficiency-heat & Phellodendri Cortex group, deficiency-heat & AÇaí high dose and low dose groups, deficiency-cold model group, deficiency-cold & Cinnamomi Cortex group, deficiency-cold & AÇaí high dose and low dose groups. The rats received intramuscular injection of dexamethasone sodium phosphate (0.35 mg) or hydrocortisone sodium succinate (20 mg) for 21 days to set up deficiency-heat models and deficiency-cold models. Then the changes in fatmetabolism levels (FFA, LPL, HL) and immune indexes (IgG, IgM, C3 and C4) were detected by colorimeter; and the levels of endocrine hormone indexes (CORT, E2 and T) were detected by radioimmunoassay. The levels of FFA, LPL and HL in serum were reduced (P<0.01 or P<0.001); levels of IgG, IgM and C3 in serum were increased (P<0.05 or P<0.001); level of CORT in serum was increased (P<0.05) and the level of E2, E2/T in serum were reduced in the AÇaí high dose group (P<0.05). The effect of high dose AÇaí on fat metabolism was not obvious in deficiency-cold models, but the levels of IgG, IgM, C3 and CORT in serum were increased (P<0.05 or P<0.001). AÇaí was showed the same effect trend with Phellodendri Cortex in adjusting the levels of deficiency-heat rats; but unlike Cinnamomi Cortex, AÇaí was showed no obvious effect in adjusting the levels of deficiency-cold rats. To investigate the effect of the combination of gastrodia and uncaria on the pharmacokinetics of gastrodin and rhynchophylline, and determine their pharmacokinetic parameters after administration of the combination of gastrodia and uncaria at the ratio of 12∶9. Compared with uncaria group or gastrodia group, Cmax and AUC of both gastrodin and rhynchophylline were significantly increased, and tmax was retroceded by 1.5 h for rhynchophylline and 0.25 h for gastrodin. The change of tmax resulted in a 1.25 h difference in the peak time between gastrodin and rhynchophylline , which was the same between them. Uncaria shows a more effect in suppressing hyperactive Yang, while gastrodia has a balancing effect by nourishing Yin and suppressing hyperactive Yang. As a result, gastrodia could exert the effect in nourishing Yin and suppressing effect of uncaria, which could avoid the deficiency of Yang affecting Yin due to mono-treatment of uncaria. On one hand, the enhanced AUC and Cmax of gastrodin could increase the average plasma drug concentration of gastrodin, and remedy the losing effect of uncaria at the early stage; On the other hand, the increased AUC and Cmax of rhynchophylline could make up the quick elimination of gastrodia in vivo at the late stage. Their combination could lead to an increased anti-hypertensive effect with the balance of Yin and Yang. They showed unique advantages compared with simple dosage increase of western medicines. The results were consistent with the principle of TCM treatment for the hypertension due to hyperactivity of the liver Yang. Health food containing Chinese materia medica (CMM) conforms to the development demands of the age of big health and the theory of preventive treatment. In the view of health care and improvement of resisting diseases, it plays an important role in the market. It is very necessary to have further study and discussion on health food containing CMM. First of all, by comparing, analyzing and summarizing, the health food containing CMM could be defined as the health food which is qualified in security and functionality evaluation, with the traditional Chinese medicines(TCM) within TCM standards as the main raw materials, and the formulation-composition is based on the theory of TCM. It is characterized by higher safety than medicines, stronger biological activities than common food, multiple forms, abundant raw materials and integrated supervision and management. Secondly, we discussed the research and development (R&D) strategies and rules of health food containing CMM, pointing out that the core tasks of R&D include the investigation of formula, technology and the standards of quality. The fundamental principles of declaration and production include scientificity, rationality, reality and uniformity. Three key requirements (security, functionality and controllability) in the review as well as the process management of R&D and the key-points of risks control were summarized in this paper. Finally, the dynamic trends of policies and regulations related to health food containing CMM were analyzed in the view of registration, recording, raw materials and functions, and then related suggestions were proposed. To explore the effects of Shaoyao Gancao decoction on contents of amino acids and expressions of receptors in the brains of spastic paralysis rats, the spastic paralysis rat models of stroke convalescence were made by line tethering method. Baclofen was used as the control group, and the experiment group received Shaoyao Gancao decoction at 3∶1 proportions. After 3 weeks, the neurobehavioral scores, muscular tension and pain threshold were measured and compared. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to detect the contents of GABA, Gly, Glu, Asp in cerebral cortex. The protein expressions of GABA receptors Aα1, B； NMDA receptor NR1, NR2A and NR2B in cerebral cortex were determined by immunohistochemistry assay. The results showed that the Shaoyao Gancao decoction at 3∶1 proportion could improve the spastic paralysis state after stroke, significantly improve neurological symptoms (P<0.01), decrease muscular tension (P<0.01) and improve pain threshold (P<0.05) as compared with model group. Simultaneously, the contents of inhibitory amino acids GABA and Gly were increased significantly (P<0.01), while with a decrease tendency in excitatory amino acids Glu and Asp (with no statistical significance). In addition, it could significantly increase the protein expressions of neurotransmitter GABA receptors Aα1, and B (P<0.05); reduce the expressions of neurotransmitter NMDA receptors NR1, NR2A and NR2B (P<0.05). These results suggested that the Shaoyao Gancao decoction at 3：1 proportion could effectively relieve spasm and pain. The mechanism might be associated with increasing the contents of inhibitory amino acids and increasing the expressions of their receptors in spastic paralysis rats after stroke, which would consequently enhance the signal transduction of inhibitory amino acids. Meanwhile, there was a decrease tendency in excitatory amino acids, although no significant effect was observed, and it could suppress the expressions of excitatory amino acids receptors, thus weaken the excitatory signal transduction. Thereby the neurotoxicity was relieved eventually. To investigate the effects of Yupingfeng granule (YPF) on immune factors of the rats with allergic rhinitis (AR) induced by ovalbumin(OVA). OVA 0.3 mg, Al(OH)3 30 mg and saline 1 mL were mixed and intraperitoneally injected for the initial immunization, 4% OVA 200 μg (50 μL) was given to the nose on the 15th day for the second immunization to establish the allergic rhinitis model. Sixty male SD rats were randomly divided into allergic rhinitis(AR) model group, Yupingfeng granule three dose (2.7,1.35,0.68 g•kg⁻¹) groups, control drug Biyankang (0.4 g•kg⁻¹) and normal control group. After 14 days, efforts were made to collect blood from abdominal aorta, and take nasopharynx tissues and fasten them into 10% formaldehyde for a pathological examination. The levels of HIS, IgE, IL-4 and TNF-α in serum were examined by radioimmunoassay, and nasal mucosa tissues were examined by HE staining. According to the results, the levels of HIS, IgE, IL-4 and TNF-α in serum of Yupingfeng granule groups were significantly lower than that of AR model group (P<0.05, P<0.01). Nasal mucosa tissues showed slight morphological changes and inflammatory cell infiltration, with unobvious necrosis. Açaí (Euterpe oleracea) emerged as a source of herb has a long history in South America, which was approved by the Ministry of Health used in China and it has been introduced planting in Guangdong and Taiwan. This article summarized applied history of Açaí and its present status in China. Did theoretical study on the Chinese herbal properties of Açaí based on the Chinese traditional philosophical culture to analysis the function and symptom preliminary, combining with used for medical recordation, chemical component, biological activity. It is aiming at establishing the theoretical foundation for the application under the guidance of TCM theory.

Objective: To compare the effects and mechanism of blood enriching on mouse model of blood deficiency syndrome induced by cyclophosphamide of albiflorin and paeoniflorin., Method: Albiflorin and paeoniflorin were determined by using animal models of blood deficiency syndrome induced by cyclophosphamide. The amount of WBC, RBC, HGB, index of thymus gland and spleen, and the changes of GM-CSF, IL-3 and TNF-α in serum were detected after the treatment., Result: Compared with the model group, the amount of WBC in the group of 30 mg x kg(-1) albiflorin and 30 mg x kg(-1) paeoniflorin were increased obviously (P < 0.01). The amount of RBC in the group of 30 mg x kg(-1) albiflorin and 30 mg x kg(-1) paeoniflorin were increased obviously (P < 0.01, P < 0.001), which did not had a significant difference compared with the same dose. The index of thymus gland in the group of 30 mg x kg(-1) albiflorin was superior to the model group (P < 0.01), the difference was significant compared with the same dose of paeoniflorin (P < 0.05). The GM-CSF in serum in all groups of 30 mg x kg(-1) albiflorin, 15 mg x kg(-1) albiflorin, 30 mg x kg(-1) paeoniflorin and 15 mg x kg(-1) paeoniflorin increased obviously (P < 0.01, P < 0.05, P < 0.01, P < 0.05); The IL-3 in serum in both group of 30 mg x kg(-1) albiflorin and 30 mg x kg(-1) paeoniflorin also increased (P < 0.001). The content of TNF-α in group of 30 mg x kg(-1) albiflorin and 30 mg x kg(-1) paeoniflorin were reduced (P < 0.01), which showed the obvious difference compared with the same dose group (P < 0.01)., Conclusion: Albiflorin had the effect of blood enriching by regulating the immune function, same with the paeoniflorin. The probable mechanism of nourishing blood and liver of Paeoniae Radix Alba was not only the better effect of adjusting the content of TNF-α, but also might act synergistically with paeoniflorin.

The influence on 10 kinds of ginsensides of different processed methods of Panacis Quinquefolii Radix was discussed. White Panacis Quinquefolii Radix (sliced and dried at -80 °C), red Panacis Quinquefolii Radix( steamed, sliced and dried at -80 °C) and commercial Radix Panacis Quinquefolii (dried by electric blast air) processed by different methods. HPLC-PDA-ESI- MS method was established before by our team. Ten kinds of ginsenosides of them were determined. The content of total ginsenosides were as follow: commercial Panacis Quinquefolii Radix > white Panacis Quinquefolii Radix > red Panacis Quinquefolii Radix. Compared with white Panacis Quinquefolii Radix, the content of Re, Rc, Rb3 and Rb2 of Red Radix Panacis Quinquefolii decreased but increased that of Rg,, Rb1. Both Rg2 and Rg, were not found in white Panacis Quinquefolii Radix and commercial Panacis Quinquefolii Radix by PDA detector, and low response in ESI-MS, while red Panacis Quinquefolii Radix was to the high content that of 0. 027% and 0.040 1%. The constituent of RA0 of red Panacis Quinquefolii Radix was higher than the other two. After Panacis Quinquefolii Radix processed, the kind and content of ginsensides were significantly changed. The constituent of some kinds of ginsensides was increased and some decreased. Rf was not found in all Panacis Quinquefolii Radix samples which were consistent with the former documents.

To prepare the hawthorn leaves flavonoids self-microemulsifying membrane controlled-release coated drop pill, and to study its release rate in vitro and pharmacokinetics study in vivo. In order to improve the dissolution of hawthorn leaves flavonoids, self-microemulsifying technology was used to prepare the hawthorn leaves flavonoids self-microemulsion. Hawthorn leaves flavonoids self-microemulsifying drop pill was prepared with the PEG 6000. Studies were made on the in vitro release of flavonoids from hawthorn leaves self-micro-emulsifying membrane-moderated coated drop pills and the in vivo pharmacokinetic in rats. The prescription of flavonoids from hawthorn leaves self-micro-emulsifying drop pills was 0.25 g of flavonoids from hawthorn leaves, 0.25 g of iodophenyl maleimide, 0.375 g of polyethylene glycol 400, 0.375 g of cremophor RH 40 and 2 g of polyethylene glycol 6000. The optimized prescription was 4 g of ethyl cellulose 20, 0.64 g of polyethylene glycol 400, 1.8 g of diethyl phthalate, and the weight of coating materials increased by 3.5%. Flavonoids from hawthorn leaves self-micro-emulsifying membrane-moderated coated drop pills complied with the design of sustained-release in 12 h in terms of in vitro release and in vivo pharmacokinetic parameters in rats, and its bioavailability was 2.47 times of quick-release drop pills. Slightly soluble flavonoids from hawthorn leaves could be made into sustained-release preparations by the self-micro-emulsifying and coating technology.

According to Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010ed), Chishao,Paeoniae Radix Rubra and Baishao,Paeoniae Radix Alba are both from the root of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. In recent years, it is known from the studies that Chishao and Baishao must have the resemblance in the chemical composition, but the differences have related to the ecological environment and the processing methods, this makes their functions be different, athough they derive from the same original plants. This review explores the material basis and functions differences based on the analysis of the relationship in Chishao and Baishao on characteristic index function and the genetic background and the analysis of the clinical and pharmacological effects. It may provide more scientific data for identification and establishment of new quality control methods of the Paeoniae Radix Alba and Paeoniae Radix Rubra in the future.

Objective: To study the effects of blood enriching on mouse model of blood deficiency syndrome of Paeoniae Radix Alba and Paeoniae Radix Rubra, paeoniflorin and albiflorin., Method: Building the mouse model of blood deficiency syndrome induced by compound method of bleeding, starved feeding and exhausting of swimming, extract from Paeoniae Radix Alba and Paeoniae Radix Rubra were given during modeling. The amount of RBC, HGB were detected after the treatment. Based on the amount results of RBC, HGB and the paeoniflorin content, albiflorin content in Paeoniae Radix Alba and Paeoniae Radix Rubra, the same model and the same method were used to comparatively study the effect of blood enriching of paeoniflorin and albiflorin., Result: At the 7th day, the amount of RBC and HGB in model mice was significantly increased (P <0. 01) by 2 g kg-1 Paeoniae Radix Alba and 2 g kg-1 Paeoniae Radix Rubra. At the 14th day, the amount of RBC and HGB in model mice was significantly increased (P <0. 01) by 2 g kg-1 Paeoniae Radix Alba. The amount of RBC and HGB in mice treated with Paeoniae Radix Rubra had an increasing trend compared with the same dose of Paeoniae Radix Rubra, but the difference was not significant. In another experiment with the same model, the amount of RBC and HGB in model mice was significantly increased (P<0.01) by 120 mg kg-1 paeoflorin and 120 mg kg-1 albiflorin at the 7th day, meanwhile, 60 mg kg-1 and 30 mg kg-1 albiflorin also increased the amount of RBC and HGB. At the 14th day, 120 mg kg-1 paeoflorin and all doses of albiflorin increased the amount of RBC and HGB. Comepared with that of the same dose of paeoniflorin, the amount of RBC in mice was significantly increased (P <0. 05) by 30 mg kg-1 albiflorin and 120 mg kg-1 albiflorin; the amount of HGB was significantly increased (P <0. 05) by 30 mg kg -1 albiflorin., Conclusion: Paeoniae Radix Alba has a better effect of blood enriching than Paeoniae Radix Rubra. Albiflorin is more effective in blood enriching than paeoniflorin. Combining these, it infers that albiflorin involves in the better blood enriching effect of Paeoniae Radix Alba.

Objective: To observe the effects of Pingyu capsule on such important regulatory factors as cAMP, PKA and PKC of the signal transduction in rats with chronic stress-induced depression., Method: Wistar male rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, paroxetine group, and Pingyu capsule low, middle and high doses groups; rats in all groups but the control group were fed in single cage for 21 days and were given such irritations as lightening stroke on pelma, ice water swimming, pyretic fumigation and tail clipping during this period; lobe cortex and hippocampus of all rats were taken out for detection of the cAMP content by means of radioactive immunization, PKA and PKC content by Elisa, and the PKA and PKC activity by radioactive isotope., Result: Content of cAMP in lobe cortex and hippocampus, content and activity of PKA in hippocampus, and content of PKC in lobe cortex of rats in the model group were lower than those in the normal group. Pingyu capsule and paroxetine can increase them., Conclusion: The anti-depression effect of Pingyu capsule maybe related to its function of adjusting the signal transduction of cAMP-PKA.

Objective: To screen and optimize the extraction of Dingxiangjiangqi granules., Method: The extraction route was screened by using pharmacodynamic experiment and the extraction conditions were optimized by orthogonal design and taking extract yield, content of naringin and tetrahydropalmatine as indexes., Result: The pharmacodynamic result showed that aqueous extract had the best effect to cure the esophagitis of rats and the optimized extraction technique was adding 12 times water, extracting 0. 5 hour for 3 times., Conclusion: The optimum extraction was simple, reasonable, stable and useful for further development.

This article reviews rectification and protection of Chinese patent medicines, establishment and improvement of the new drug approval, and historical evolution of the pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China. The article analyzes the present situation and the challenges of quality standardization of Chinese patent medicines in the new era. The article also points out strategies and guidelines to be taken to promote the globalization of Chinese patent medicines and compliance with the international standards.

Objective: To study the anticancerous effect of Fuganchun 6 (FGC-6) and its immunoregulatory effect on tumor-bearing mice., Method: The mice inoculated by H22 cells were divided into 5 groups: model group, 5-Fu group and FGC-6 in high dose, medium dose, and low dose groups. The normal mice were also observed. These mice were treated for 10 days. The weight of tumor mass and mouse were examined. The target-cell-killing activity of NK cells. The proliferation activity of lymphocyte and the production of IL-2 of murine splenocytes were detected respectively. The serum containing FGC-6 was prepared and its inhibition effect on H22 cells was examined by MTT assay and growth curve in vitro., Result: Growth of tumor was inhibited markedly by FGC-6 high dose. The inhibition of serum containing FGC-6 on the proliferation of H22 cells in vitro was observerd in a dose and time-dependent manner. The target-cell-killing activity of NK cells and the production of IL-2 of murine splenocytes of model group were lower than those of normal group (P < 0.05). When compared with model group, FGC-6 in high dose elevated the two indexes above-mentioned, and also enhanced the proliferation activity of lymphocyte markedly (P < 0.05). The production of IL-2 of murine splenocytes was also improved when treated by FGC-6 in medium dose (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: FGC-6 can inhibite the growth of H22 cells markedly and also can strengthen the immunity of H22 transplanted mouse.

Objective: To investigate the behavioral changes and the levels of monoamine neurotransmitters in the anterior cortex in the olfactory bulb damage rats after being treated with Guanyu capsules (GYC)., Method: Open-field test and step-down passive avoidance test were used to observe the behavior in model rats. HPLC-ECD was used to analyze the influences of GYC on the levels of monoamine neurotransmitters., Result: In the model rats, there was a characteristic hyperactivity in the Open-field and learning deficits in step-down passive avoidance (P < 0.01). The contents of 5-HT reduced, and the rate of DOPAC/DA increased significantly (P < 0.01). GYC 1.2, 0.6 g x kg(-1) could correct behavioral changes increase the contents of 5-HT, and decrease DOPAC/DA level (P < 0.01)., Conclusion: GYC can correct behavioral changes in rats model of olfactory bulb damage, and regulating 5-HT and DA metabolism in cortex is one of the antidepressive mechanisms of GYC.

Objective: To study the effects of Qilan Tangzhining capsule on glucose and lipid metabolism in diabetes mellitus and hyperlipemia., Method: Rats were fed with high sugar and fat food for 2 months, then 2% streptozocin (STZ, 30 mg kg(-1)) was injected intraperitoneally to induce hyperglycemia and hyperlipemia. After the model rats were administrated drugs, the blood glucose, the serum lipids, and the histopathology of the liver and pancreas were observed., Result: Qilan Tangzhining capsule could decrease the FBG and the serum TC, TG, LDL-C, increase HDL-C, and improve the histopathologic injury of the liver and pancreas., Conclusion: Qilan Tangzhining capsule can not only adjust the blood glucose and lipid, but also improve the histopathology injury of the liver and pancreas.

Objective: To test the dissolution rate of silymarin dropping pill as well as to be compared with other three commercial products of the silymarin., Method: By UV spectrophotometry, we studied the dissolution conditions of silymarin dropping pill and compared its dissolution rate with Yiganling tablets (film-coating, sugar-coating) and Legalon capsule which are available in the market., Result: The dissolution parameters T50 and Td of silymarin dropping pill, Yiganling tablet (film-coating), Yiganling tablet (sugar-coating) and Legalon capsule are 6.78, 9.85 min, 51.01, 73.78 min, 74.35, 86.97 min and 53.10, 72.65 min., Conclusion: The dissolution rate of silymarin dropping pill is superior to that of two kinds of Yiganling tablets and Legalon capsule.
