Electrochemical analysis of glucose monitoring without painful blood collection provides a new noninvasive route for monitoring glucose levels. Thus, in this study, biobased cellulosic papers (methylated and phosphorylated one) based glucose monitoring sensor is developed. To achieve high hydrophilicity, microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) were functionalized using hexokinase mediated phosphorylation (-OH to -[Formula: see text]). The instinctive increased surface charge density from 36.2 ± 3.4 to 118.4 ± 1.2 µmol/g and decrease contact angle (45°-22°) confirms the increased hydrophilicity of paper. Furthermore, functionalized phos-MFC paper increase the capillary flow of sweat, required low quantity (1 µl) of sweat for accurate analysis of glucose level. Additionally, chemically induced methyl groups (-CH 3 ) make the sensor more barrier to other chemicals. In addition, a multilayer patch design combined with sensor miniaturization was used to lead to an increase in the efficiency of the sweat collection and sensing processes. Besides, this paper sensor integrated with artificial transdermal drug delivery unit (agarose gel as skin) for monitoring glucose levels in sweat. The patch monitoring system increase the accuracy of sensing with fluctuation in sweat vol. (1-4 µl), temperature (20-70 °C), and pH (4.0-7.0). In addition, temperature dependency artificial transdermal delivery (within agarose gel) of drug metformin agrees the measurement accuracy of sensor, called "switch system" without any error. Flax (Linum usitatissimum) is a bast fiber plant known for its long fibers, making it an excellent source of pulp for paper production. In Ethiopia, flax is primarily cultivated for oil, with the residual straw utilized for papermaking. This study focuses on pulping flax straw using the Kraft process and investigates its chemical composition, proximate analysis, and morphological properties. The proximate analysis revealed an ash content of 4.13% and moisture content of 11%. Chemical composition analysis showed cellulose at 51.34%, hemicellulose at 25.20%, lignin at 14.12%, ash at 4.13%, and extractives at 5.21%. The morphological properties included a fiber length of 1.41 mm, diameter of 16.78 μm, lumen width of 9.45 μm, and cell wall thickness of 3.77 μm. Flax straw exhibited an acceptable Runkel ratio (0.8) and flexibility coefficient (56.32), placing it within the range of non-wood fibers. SEM analysis of the pulp's morphology was conducted to assess fiber structure, including the presence of cracks. Pulp quality and length are directly linked to paper strength. Various pulping conditions were studied using a full-factorial design, with optimum conditions being 10% alkaline, 131.74°C, and 120 min of cooking time, yielding a pulp with a Kappa number of 10.45 and a yield of 40.56%. Nucleic acid amplification testing has great potential for point-of-need diagnostic testing with high detection sensitivity and specificity. Current sample preparation is limited by a tedious workflow requiring multiple steps, reagents and instrumentation, hampering nucleic acid testing at point of need. In this study, we present the use of mixed cellulose ester (MCE) paper for DNA binding by ionic interaction under molecular crowding conditions and fluid transport by wicking. The poly(ethylene) glycol-based (PEG) reagent simultaneously provides the high pH for alkaline lysis and crowding effects for ionic binding of the DNA under high salt conditions. In this study, we introduce Paper-based Abridged Solid-Phase Extraction with Alkaline Poly(ethylene) Glycol Lysis (PASAP). The anionic mixed cellulose ester (MCE) paper is used as solid phase and allows for fluid transport by wicking, eliminating the need for pipetting skills and the use of a magnet to retain beads. Following the release of DNA from the cells due to the lytic activity of the PASAP solution, the DNA binds to the anionic surface of the MCE paper, concentrating at the bottom while the sample matrix is transported towards the top by wicking. The paper was washed by dipping it in 40% isopropanol for 10 s. After air-drying for 30 s, the bottom section of the paper (3 mm × 4 mm) was snapped off using the cap of a PCR tube and immersed in the colourimetric loop-mediated isothermal amplification (cLAMP) solution for direct amplification and colourimetric detection. The total sample processing was completed in 15 min and ready for amplification. cLAMP enabled the detection of 10 2 CFU/mL of Escherichia coli (E. coli) from culture media and the detection of E. coli in milk < 10 3  CFU/mL (10 CFU) after incubation at 68 °C for 60 min, demonstrating applicability of the method to complex biological samples., (© 2024. In this study, zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles were prepared and modified using a wet chemical method with different concentrations of Ag and Cu nanoparticles. The objective was to improve the mechanical, optical, and antibacterial properties of the coated paper by using the prepared pigments. The long-term antimicrobial effects of the coated paper were evaluated over 25 years. The successful synthesis of a hexagonal structure of ZnO nanoparticles decorated with spherical Ag and Cu nanoparticles ranging from 20 to 50 nm was confirmed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). By increasing the concentrations of Ag and Cu from 0.01% to 1.0%, the mechanical properties of the coated paper were enhanced. The tensile strength reached a maximum of 6.77 kN/m and 7.03 kN/m, elongation increased to 1.69% and 1.70%, tensile energy absorption improved to approximately 77 and 80 J/m 2 , and burst strength rose to 218 and 219 kPa, respectively. The use of Ag-modified ZnO maintains the optical properties, while Cu-modified ZnO reduces brightness and whiteness without affecting opacity. The antimicrobial inhibition activity was improved with higher silver (Ag) and copper (Cu) content. The formulations containing 1% Ag/ZnO and 1%Cu/ZnO showed long-lasting antibacterial effects against gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Even after 25 years of aging, they maintained inhibition rates of 92.2% and 62.2%, respectively. Concrete's widespread use in construction is increasing due to urbanization and population growth. While it offers durability and strength, its production poses environmental challenges. Researchers and global initiatives are working towards more sustainable concrete production methods and effective waste management, particularly for paper waste (WPA) and polyethylene terephthalate waste (PET). This study aims to investigate the effects of waste paper aggregate (WPA) on the flow time, compressive strength, flexural strength, and thermal conductivity of mortars. Furthermore, it explores the potential of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to enhance the compressive and flexural strengths of these mortars. To conduct this study, the materials were characterized using EDX spectroscopy and SEM analysis. Gwyddion software was employed to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the grain segmentation and microstructural characteristics of the WPA mortars. Subsequently, four distinct mixtures were selected for further investigation. The first mixture involved substituting sand with various percentages of waste paper aggregate (WPA) (1-4%) without PET. The second mixture included WPA (1-4%) and 5% PET. Due to the ineffective plasticizer in the first two mixtures, the third mixture replaced 20% of quarry sand with dune sand (DS) while maintaining the same percentages of WPA and PET as in the previous mixtures. The results indicate that mortars RM1 (0% WPA + 0% PET) and RM2 (0% WPA + 0% PET + 20% DS) demonstrated the best flow time. This suggests that incorporating WPA and PET into the mortar mix can negatively impact its workability, making it more challenging to handle, shape, and apply. Sample PW4, composed of 4% WPA and 0% PET, displayed a significant increase in compressive strength from 46.36 MPa to 49.81 MPa and flexural strength from 10.5 MPa to 11.47 MPa, indicating that incorporating WPA into the mortars can enhance resistance to both compressive and flexural strengths. This same mixture, PW4, demonstrated that the mortars are poor conductors of heat and would be more effective as thermal insulators. Expansive soils have a high tendency for volume change in case of fluctuations in moisture content, potentially causing significant damage to light structures, particularly road pavements. This paper investigates the influence of waste paper sludge ([Formula: see text]) as an alternative sustainable stabilizer on the volume change behavior of expansive road subgrade soils of different origins. For this purpose, [Formula: see text] was added to the expansive soils at ratios of 3%, 6%, 9%, 12%, and 15% by dry weight of the soils. A series of Atterberg's limit, swelling, shrinkage, compaction, and consolidation tests were performed on pure soils and soil specimens with [Formula: see text] to attain a comprehensive understanding of the role that [Formula: see text] plays in the volume change behavior of expansive soils. The experimental test results showed that the addition of [Formula: see text] led to a considerable decrease in the plasticity and swell-shrink potentials of subgrade soils. The consolidation settlement of expansive road subgrades was also reduced to some extent with [Formula: see text]. Moreover, the statistical analysis of the test data indicated a significant relationship among different swelling-shrinkage parameters. This work proposed an approach to multi-component non-metallic materials, namely regular polygonal paper honeycomb sandwich tubes filled with polyethylene (PE) foam, and focused on the influence of drop impact parameters and structural parameters on the deformation characteristics and energy absorption of the filled tubes. Axial drop impact tests were employed to exert drop impact loading on cross-sections of the specimens with a square drop weight. The results showed that the X-direction filled tube (X-DFT) had a higher crushing strength and yield strength than that of the Y-direction filled tube (Y-DFT). As the tubular cross-section edge number of the filled tube increased, the specific energy absorption (SEA) and specific total efficiency (STE) decreased. Under the same axial drop impact loading conditions, the SEA and STE of the X-DFT were superior to those of the Y-DFT. As the edge number of the tubular cross-section or the tubular length ratio increased, the SEA and STE of the filled honeycomb tube decreased significantly. While the impact energy increased, the SEA and STE of the filled tubes increased approximately linearly. This work investigated the influence of drop-impact and structural parameters on deformation characteristics and energy absorption. The pulp and paper industry generates vast quantities of paper sludge, posing significant environmental challenges due to its disposal in landfills or incineration. This study explores the potential of valorizing paper sludge by incorporating it into particleboard production. It aims to optimize sludge content and particle size to enhance board properties-a novel approach to waste management in the wood composites industry. Through systematic variation of sludge content (0-25%) and particle size (< 0.5 to > 2 mm), we assessed the mechanical and physical properties such as internal bond strength (IB), modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE), water absorption (WA), and thickness swelling (TS). The findings indicate that incorporating paper sludge at moderate levels (5-15%) with optimized particle sizes (< 1 mm) significantly improves the mechanical properties of the particleboard, including increased IB, MOR, and MOE while reducing WA and TS. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) further supported these results, revealing that higher-density boards with enhanced mechanical properties absorb less water, highlighting the interrelationship between structural integrity and moisture resistance. The PCA also identified thickness swelling as an independent factor, suggesting that while mechanical properties can be optimized, additional strategies are needed to control swelling. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that up to 15% paper sludge can be effectively used in particleboard production without compromising quality, provided particle size is carefully controlled. The paper industry is a major environmental polluter due to paper waste sludge (PWS), often disposed of in hazardous ways. The techniques are employed to disposing of PWS are posing significant environmental hazards and risks to well-being. This study aims to evaluate PWS as a potential replacement for commercial adsorbents like AC and ZEO in treating stabilized leachate. Contact angle analysis of PWS was 92.60°, reveals that PWS to be hydrophobic. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted with parameters set at 200 rpm stirring speed, 120 min contact time, and pH 7. Optimal conditions for COD and NH 3 -N removal were identified at 120 min contact time, 200 rpm stirring speed, pH 7, and 2.0 g PWS ratio. Removal percentages for COD and NH 3 -N were 62% and 52%, respectively. Based on the results of the isotherm and kinetic studies, it was observed that the Langmuir and Pseudo second order (PSO) model exhibited greater suitability compared to the Freundlich and Pseudo first order (PFO) model, as indicated by higher values of R-squared (R 2 ). The R-squared of Langmuir for COD and NH 3 -N were 0.9949 and 0.9919 and for Freundlich model were 0.9855 and 0.9828 respectively. Microfluidic paper-based analytical devices often are combined with scanners as detectors. In this work, different scanning options offered by scanners: resolution, scanning mode, exposure to radiation, colour restoration, and saving format were tested. Moreover, different attempts to mathematical data treatment based on intensities of three channels-Red, Green and Blue, were studied. All measurements presented in this article were conducted for a model dye-bromothymol blue and a model analyte-zinc(II) ion (complexed with xylenol orange in a paper matrix). The article summarizes the scanning options and possibilities of mathematical calculations. Nevertheless, it is suggested that the best option is to use the prior prepared calculation file to paste obtained intensities and compare all presented in this article (and the most frequently used) equations to process intensities and decide which one should be used in the particular analysis., (© 2024. Anger suppression is important in our daily life, as its failure can sometimes lead to the breaking down of relationships in families. Thus, effective strategies to suppress or neutralise anger have been examined. This study shows that physical disposal of a piece of paper containing one's written thoughts on the cause of a provocative event neutralises anger, while holding the paper did not. In this study, participants wrote brief opinions about social problems and received a handwritten, insulting comment consisting of low evaluations about their composition from a confederate. Then, the participants wrote the cause and their thoughts about the provocative event. Half of the participants (disposal group) disposed of the paper in the trash can (Experiment 1) or in the shredder (Experiment 2), while the other half (retention group) kept it in a file on the desk. All the participants showed an increased subjective rating of anger after receiving the insulting feedback. However, the subjective anger for the disposal group decreased as low as the baseline period, while that of the retention group was still higher than that in the baseline period in both experiments. Oil-immersed transformers are expensive equipment in the electrical system, and their failure would lead to widespread blackouts and catastrophic economic losses. In this work, an elaborate diagnostic approach is proposed to evaluate twenty-six different transformers in-service to determine their operative status as per the IEC 60599:2022 standard and CIGRE brochure. The approach integrates dissolved gas analysis (DGA), transformer oil integrity analysis, visual inspections, and two Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) algorithms to predict the loss of life (LOL) of the transformers through condition monitoring of the cellulose paper. The first BPNN algorithm proposed is based on forecasting the degree of polymerization (DP) using 2-Furaldehyde (2FAL) concentration measured from oil samples using DGA, and the second BPNN algorithm proposed is based on forecasting transformer LOL using the 2FAL and DP data obtained from the first BPNN algorithm. The first algorithm produced a correlation coefficient of 0.970 when the DP was predicted using the 2FAL measured in oil and the second algorithm produced a correlation coefficient of 0.999 when the LOL was predicted using the 2FAL and DP output data obtained from the first algorithm. The results show that the BPNN can be utilized to forecast the DP and LOL of transformers in-service. This article presents the results of an experiment designed to study the impact of temperature on the characteristic parameters of creeping discharges. The insulating interfaces consist of a thermally enhanced cellulose surface immersed in mineral oil, palm kernel oil methyl ester (PKOME) and castor oil methyl ester (COME). The study was carried out under a standard negative lightning impulse voltage (1.2/50 μs). The article also presents the complete algorithms for calculating the maximum extension of the discharges, the ionisation rate and the charge produced by them. The results of the study show that temperature favors the propagation of discharges and the ionisation rate. It was observed that liquids with a higher dielectric constant and high electrical conductivity were more exposed to the impact of temperature. The results show ionisation increments of 0.973%/°C, 1.093%/°C and 1.076%/°C in mineral oil (MO), COME and PKOME respectively. The maximum extension of the discharges shows a linear evolution with the applied voltage and temperature but a non-linear increment with the temperature. As for the charge produced, it shows a constant increment with temperature and voltage in each liquid. As the social organism, Polistes wasps build a communal nest using woody fibers with saliva for sustaining brood and adult population throughout the season. Limited information exists regarding the identification specific plant materials employed in wasp nest building. Thus, we firstly tested if the DNA metabarcoding approach utilizing rbcL and trnL molecular markers could identify the plant species quantitatively and qualitatively inform the mixed-origin woody samples. A threshold of 0.01 proportion of reads was applied for rbcL and trnL molecular markers, while this threshold for median proportion was 0.0025. In assessing taxa richness, the median proportion demonstrated superior performance, exhibiting higher taxa detection power, however, rbcL marker outperformed in quantitative analysis. Subsequently, we applied DNA metabarcoding to identify the plant materials from the nests of two Polistes species, P. mandarinus and P. rothneyi. The results showed that higher preference of Quercus and Robinia as the major nest building materials regardless of the surrounding plant communities, by two wasp species. Material diversity was higher for P. rothneyi than P. mandarinus, which may explain the abundance of this species possibly with heightened adaptive capacities in their nesting behavior. Energy storage devices (ESD) which are intended to power electronic devices, used in close contact of human skin, are desirable to be safe and non-toxic. In light of this requirement, Zn based energy storage devices seem to provide a viable pathway as they mostly employ aqueous based electrolytes which are safe and non-toxic in their functioning. Additionally, having a flexible ESD will play a crucial role as it will enable the ESD to conform to the varying shapes and sizes of wearable electronics which they energize. In this work, we have developed an inkjet-printed Zinc ion battery (IPZIB) with planar electrode configuration over bond paper substrate. Zn has been used as the negative electrode, MnO 2 is used as the positive electrode with Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) as the active binder. Conducting tracks of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) are used to construct the current collector on the paper substrate. The fabricated IPZIB delivered a high discharge capacity of 300.14 mAh g -1 at a current density of 200 mA g -1 . The energy density of the IPZIB is observed as 330.15 Wh kg -1 at a power density of 220 W kg -1 and retains an energy density of 94.36 Wh kg -1 at a high power density of 1650 W kg -1 . Finally, we have demonstrated the capability of the IPZIB to power a LED at various bending and folding conditions which indicates its potential to be used in the next generation flexible and wearable electronic devices., (© 2024. Cauliflower is an important winter crop grown in India, its curds are rich in nutritional profile, containing valuable minerals and vitamins. However, cauliflower harvesting is mainly accomplished by hands, which is time-consuming and requires a high labour force. On the other hand, most developed cauliflower harvesters are once over or single pass type, which harvests all plants irrespective of their maturity. So, the selective harvester could improve the cauliflower curds yield, and then decrease the labour requirement. To improve the cutting performance of the selective cauliflower harvester, the working parameters of the chainsaw cutting mechanism need to be considered and optimized. This research investigates the impact of cutting height, feed (push) force, and cutting speed on the efficiency of the cutter during harvest. The Taguchi approach, together with grey relational analysis (GRA), was employed to identify the most favorable combination of operational parameters. In addition, the variance analysis was conducted to statistically examine the impact of multiple parameters. The findings indicated that the feed force was the major parameter that influenced the cutting force, splitting failure levels, and cutting time. The most effective parameter combination consisted of a cutting height of 15 mm, a feed force of 10 N, and a cutting speed of 5 m/s. The grey relational grade of the ideal parameter combination has shown a 0.322 increase in comparison to the grade achieved with the initially selected parameter combination. This study investigates the impact of the noise radiated from airplanes, urban rail transit, high-speed railways, and urban roads on residents near an airport. The results showed that all respondents near the airport were highly annoyed with airplane noise, and some remain annoyed with the noise from the urban rail transit and high-speed railway connecting to the airport. The most detrimental aspect of transportation noise was sleeping disturbance. Transportation noise from 19:00 to 24:00 primarily caused the annoyance of surrounding residents. Airplane noise is the largest source of sound pollution in residences in the region adjacent to the elevated urban rail transit and airport. The insertion loss of vertical sound barrier with a height of 2.4 m at the points 25 m away from the track centerline is 6.9-8.6 dB, but the sound pressure level below 40 Hz is amplified owing to the structure-borne noise radiating from the barrier itself. The presence of sound barriers can reduce the high annoyance level from 24 to 8.2%., Competing Interests: Declarations. The connectivity is an important feature of the reservoir geological heterogeneity that effects fluid flow responses. In geostatistical modeling, random realizations are generated to describe reservoir heterogeneities. But these realizations do not necessarily honor connectivity data. Especially in multiple-point geostatistical modeling, ensuring the connectivity data of these realizations consistent with the training image is a challenge. The connectivity data of the training image is an important factor in assessing the quality of simulation results in modeling a fluvial hydrocarbon reservoir with meandering channels. The calibration of geological/geostatistical model realizations by measured data is generally performed through history matching, which is an inversion process. This method requires a parameterization of the geostatistical model to allow the updating of an initial model realization. The gradual deformation method has been used to parameterize geostatistical realizations. This method uses a perturbation mechanism to smoothly modify model realizations generated by sequential (not necessarily Gaussian) simulations while preserving its spatial variability. In this paper, a workflow is presented to calibrate the model realizations to the connectivity data. This workflow ensures that the connectivity of model realizations generated by SNESIM is consistent with the training image, and it is applicable to both multiple-point and two-point geostatistical modeling methods based on sequential simulation. This workflow incorporates the computation of the model connectivity function and its calibration to connectivity data using the gradual deformation method. This involves defining and minimizing an objective function, which quantifies the mismatch between the model connectivity function and the connectivity data. To investigate the energy-saving advantages of truck platoons, this study focused on two, three, and six-axle trucks as research subjects. A non-uniform platoon model of trucks was constructed based on braking performance differences. The aerodynamic characteristics of the non-uniform platoon fleet were analyzed in depth using numerical simulation methods, and the fuel consumption rate of the fleet was calculated. In a heterogeneous three-vehicle platoon, the 3-2-6 platooning approach exhibited the most effective reduction in fuel consumption, whereas the 3-6-2 platooning approach was the least effective. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a disruptive technology, promising to grant a significant economic and strategic advantage to nations that harness its power. China, with its recent push towards AI adoption, is challenging the U.S.'s position as the global leader in this field. Given AI's massive potential, as well as the fierce geopolitical tensions between China and the U.S., several recent policies have been put in place to discourage AI scientists from migrating to, or collaborating with, the other nation. Nevertheless, the extent of talent migration and cross-border collaboration are not fully understood. Here, we analyze a dataset of over 350,000 AI scientists and 5,000,000 AI papers. We find that since 2000, China and the U.S. have led the field in terms of impact, novelty, productivity, and workforce. Most AI scientists who move to China come from the U.S., and most who move to the U.S. come from China, highlighting a notable bidirectional talent migration. Moreover, the vast majority of those moving in either direction have Asian ancestry. Upon moving, those scientists continue to collaborate frequently with those in the origin country. Although the number of collaborations between the two countries has increased since the dawn of the millennium, such collaborations continue to be relatively rare. A matching experiment reveals that the two countries have always been more impactful when collaborating than when each works without the other. One of the key factors in manufacturing products by fused deposition molding (FDM) or layer-by-layer printing technology is the material intensity of the product. The task of reducing the amount of material required to manufacture a product without significant loss of mechanical properties is one of the most practically important technological tasks. Material saving in FDM printing of products allows to reduce financial costs and increase the speed of manufacturing of the final product without reducing (or not significantly reducing) the quality properties of the product. In our work it is demonstrated that using Combs filling type and materials of poly lactic acid (PLA) and polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) it is possible to achieve material savings of up to 23% at 50% filling for PLA and 17% at 75% filling for PETG without significant reduction of product strength in comparison with other filling types. Exceptions are PLA samples with 100% fill and Lateral fill. Application of Kruskal-Wallis criterion and Dunn's criterion with Bonferroni multiple comparison correction showed that there were no statistically significant differences within the strength limits of samples made by FDM printing technology from PLA and PETG plastics (p-value = 0.0514), as well as samples with Triangle and Grid filling type (p-value = 1). Based on this result, three groups of samples statistically significantly differing in ultimate strength were identified by methods of hierarchical cluster analysis; in each group (except for group 1, which included samples made of PLA plastic with Lateral filling type and 100% filling), correlation analysis was performed (Spearman correlation was used). The results of the correlation analysis showed a stable average correlation between the percentage of filling, modulus along the secant 0.05-0.2% strain, ultimate strength and strain corresponding to the yield stress. Analysis of the correlation graph showed that the main parameter correlating with all mechanical properties of the specimen is the 0.05-0.2% strain modulus. Based on this conclusion, robust regression equations predicting the 0.05-0.2% strain modulus as a function of the percentage of specimen filling were constructed for the two selected groups. Analysis of the equations showed that in the third group of specimens, the average modulus of 0.05-0.2% strain is more than twice the modulus of 0.05-0.2% strain in the second group. ZnAl 2 O 4 and CuAl 2 O 4 spinel nanoparticles were prepared by a modified Pechini method and used with the natural chitosan (CS) and shellac (SH) polymers to form novel composite membranes as promising food packaging materials. The selection of ZnAl 2 O 4 and CuAl 2 O 4  spinel nanoparticles was based on their antibacterial characteristics, availability, and economy. Using a straightforward and adaptable solution mixing and casting method, the bio-composites were created. The mechanical, physical, antibacterial, homogeneity and air permeability properties of composite films were investigated. The film structure was evaluated in terms of component interactions using FTIR spectra. The addition of 10% SH increased the tensile strength, percentage strain at maximum load, Young's modulus, and burst strength by 114-101%, 3.6-8.4, 103-119, and 179-153% for low and middle M.wt./CS respectively. Chitosan/shellac-CuAl 2 O 4  composite has superior properties compared to ZnAl 2 O 4  composite. In general, 0.05% spinel provides a composite having better qualities than that of 0.1 additions. Middle M.wt. chitosan provides a composite with superior properties compared to that of low M.wt. The incorporation of ZnAl 2 O 4 or CuAl 2 O 4 enhanced the thermal stability of the SH/CS composite. ZnAl 2 O 4 provides superior thermal stability than CuAl 2 O 4 . When shellac/CS film structure is treated with the previously indicated ZnAl 2 O 4 or CuAl 2 O 4 formulation, the % swelling decreases along with an increasing in the gel fraction. The antimicrobial assessment using inhibition zone diameter and shake flask methods showed that a composite of 1:9 shellac/chitosan/0.05% of CuAl 2 O 4 exerted the highest Gram-positive antibacterial activity against B. mycoides (21 mm), and C. albicans (22 mm). The digitization of operation and maintenance in the intelligent power grid equipment relies on a diverse array of information for smart decision-making. In the domain of intelligent decision generation, proficiency is contingent upon extensive learning from copious amounts of text. This necessitates not only robust processing capabilities but also a high level of specialization. In addressing situations where authorization is lacking, pre-trained language models (PLMs) have already provided ideas when confronted with specialized domains or tasks. In consideration of the complexity of textual content in the field of the power grid, which encompasses a multitude of specialized knowledge and involves an abundance of proprietary terminology, we have undertaken an exploration of pre-trained model specialization using the power grid domain as an example, specifically for the task of generating maintenance strategies. A two-stage fine-tuning approach (P2FT) is employed, utilizing a large-scale pre-training model specifically designed for natural language processing. The efficacy and practical value of this method were evaluated through multiple metrics, juxtaposed with other advanced approaches involving low-parameter or parameter-free fine-tuning methods. Through a meticulous analysis and validation of experimental outcomes, we have corroborated the feasibility and practical application value of employing this approach for pre-trained model specialization. This article presents a comprehensive benchmarking analysis of merit performance factors in the Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) of the textile industry. The study aims to identify and evaluate key factors that contribute to the efficient operation and performance of ETPs. The performance of ETP was analyzed by valuable data gained from figures of PH, Dissolved oxygen, Dissolved solids, Suspended solids, Density, COD and BOD. The technical trends showed the deviations in the working conditions of Effluent Treatment Plant by variation in temperature. This variation is achieved by varying the settling time of wastewater in the sedimentation tank during the working process. The required dosing, plant efficiency and economic factors were taken into account. The Plant efficiency was determined to be 83.5% at normal conditions of water entering at temperature of 30°C and pressure of 1 atm along with addition of coagulants and flocculants in the wastewater. While the efficiency of the ETP plant was calculated about 88% using a Compact photometer at elevated conditions of temperature such as > 45°C, while at other temperatures the efficiency decreases significantly due to several reasons. The operating time of water treatment was decreased due to the variations in temperature of wastewater while other conditions kept constant like pressure, flow rates of water and chemicals (Polyacrylamide and Polymeric Ferric Sulfate). Existing tensioning cable prestress ensures bridge safety. This work presents the micro-hole release technique, which accurately measures the effective prestress of strands in existing prestressed concrete bridges. The strand drilling model was produced in Solidworks and Abaqus. The effect of drilling depth, diameter, deflection angle, and hole edge distance on strand stress release was then examined. The findings indicate that strand drilling tension relief is directly related to hole depth and diameter. As aperture size increases, stress alleviation decreases. The stress release error rate increases as the strand drilling deflection angle increases from 0° to 15°. Portable electric drill bits are 1.5 mm. A 5.0 mm hole was bored into the steel wire. The steel strand drilling wire is 3.0 mm from the hole's edge. The drill bit is designed to maintain a drilling deflection angle of less than 5°, ensuring accuracy and ease of testing. After that, the 1860 grade strand drilling test was used to compare stress release and associated circumstances between P-T and T-P operating conditions. The strain-tension fitting equations for strand release were compared to finite element simulation results under P-T and T-P operating conditions. We found that the formula for fitting the strain-tension force of strand release under T-P condition matches finite element simulation results. Few studies evaluated patient-reported outcomes (PROs) for patients with hematologic malignancies receiving with Chimeric Antigen Receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the benefits of CAR-T cell therapies focused on PROs. A systematic literature searched from PubMed, Cochrane, and the Web of Science from inception to September 2023. Study selection and data extraction were conducted independently by two reviewers based on pre-specified criteria. The COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) Risk of Bias checklist was used to evaluate the methodological quality of the included studies. The random-effects model was employed to calculate the combined effect and 95% Confidence intervals. This study was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline and the protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42024586706). We identified 20,110 studies. Of those, 15 studies with 16 different PRO measures (PROMs) were included in the meta-analysis. CAR-T cell therapy improved PROs in the six domains of general health status, pain, fatigue, depression, social function, and cognitive function: from the general health status (SMD: 0.57, 95% CI: 0.34 to 0.81) to cognitive function (SMD: 0.25, 95% CI: 0.14 to 0.37). The current meta-analysis shows that CAR-T cell therapy produces clinically meaningful differences in PROs. This paper presents the modelling and analysis process of the electrical power management system on board an electrified aircraft conforming to the More/All Electric Aircraft concept. The main objective of the study is to assess the stability of the Electric Power Distribution System under different operational conditions, including the aspect of constant power loads. The paper describes the structure of the system, in which the key role is played by a synchronous generator and a three-phase rectifier converting alternating current AC into direct current DC. To solve the problem, modeling methods in the Matlab/Simulink environment were used, which enabled the analysis of the dynamic properties of the system and the assessment of stability under various types of loads. The obtained test results show that the presence of constant power loads can lead to instability in the EPDS system, manifested by voltage and current oscillations exceeding the standards specified in the MIL-STD-704E standard. The paper also provides tools for predicting system stability without the need to conduct full stability tests, which is important for the design of modern aviation power systems. Due to their unique operating characteristics and high thermal efficiencies, free-piston engine linear generator (FPELG) has attracted research interest in recent years, thanks to the crankshaft absence. The FPELG has three typical structure configurations: single-cylinder single-piston, dual-cylinder dual-piston, and opposed-piston. These structure configurations have different benefits owing to their distinctive piston operating characteristics and engine performances. This paper analysed the piston operating characteristics and engine performances of the three typical FPELG structure configurations using a quantitative comparison method. The results revealed that the output power of the dual-cylinder dual-piston FPELG was the highest, at 3.7 kW. The opposed-piston FPELG exhibited the highest indicated thermal efficiency of 34%. In addition, the indicated power of FPELG was negatively correlated with the heat transfer area. The friction loss of each FPELG was < 5% of the overall energy consumption. This paper explores the potential implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBSs) in agriculture, specifically focusing on soil and water management in Southern Italy, particularly in the Apulia and Basilicata regions. Through a tailored questionnaire, it investigates farmers' perceptions of the utility of NBSs, addressing key issues in the region and evaluating their role in addressing soil and water management challenges. Findings reveal primary challenges such as drought, floods, and water pollution, with soil erosion being a major concern. Several NBSs, including wetlands and bioswales, demonstrate consistent utility and performance, while disparities exist for agroforestry and strip cropping. The study underscores a significant gap in the economic valuation of NBSs, emphasizing the need for comprehensive assessments that incorporate livability improvements, water quality enhancement, and socio-cultural benefits. Additionally, an analysis of NBS implementation across Italian agriculture reveals limited case studies, suggesting the need for strategic expansions to meet Sustainable Development Goals. Pressure dynamics can reflect the basic characteristics of fluid flow through underground porous formation. In this research, the oil-gas two-phase flow model for a double-porosity media formation with permeability-stress sensitivity was first established for three kinds of outer boundaries. The unified governing equation was deduced by utilizing the H function. The nonlinear mathematical model in consideration of permeability-stress sensitivity was linearized by implementing the canonical perturbation transformation and then solved by using the Laplace transformation. After that, a sequence of typical log-log curves of pressure dynamics influenced by various model parameters were plotted and analyzed. These curves reflect the typical characteristic of a V shape caused by the inter-porosity fluid flow from matrix toward natural fractures. Oil saturation and permeability-stress sensitivity coefficient have much influence on the pressure dynamics. Ultimately, the established model of oil-gas two-phase flow was validated through a well-test fitting interpretation for a real condensate gas well in a sandstone formation. In this study, natural asphalt was oxidized to synthesize a new nano-structure adsorbent for dye removal. The functionalization of natural asphalt by oxidation introduced new properties that influenced its activity. The process of oxidizing natural asphalt with potassium permanganate resulted in a low-cost adsorbent, which can potentially be a more affordable option compared with synthetic alternatives. Characterization analysis confirmed the enhanced surface area, improving dye interaction and adsorption. The interconnected channels and capillaries of the oxidized natural asphalt facilitated the capillary action drawing in liquids, including dyes. The distinctive porosity of natural asphalt oxide (NA-oxide) was noted, and the experimental results showed that the NA-oxide nanoadsorbent efficiently adsorbed cationic and anionic dyes in water, with maximum capacities of 14.68 mg.g -1 , 17.81 mg.g -1 and 16.47 mg.g -1 for methyl orange, methylene blue and Rhodamine B, respectively. The study investigated various parameters, such as concentration, adsorption dose, pH, contact time, and temperature, affecting the dye removal process. Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin isotherms along with pseudo-first and pseudo-second-order kinetic equations were applied to assess the adsorption process, indicating that dyes adhered to the pseudo-first-order model and Langmuir isotherm. Analysis of MO, MB, and RhB dyes revealed conformity to Langmuir isotherm and first-order kinetics. Thermodynamic evaluations like ΔH°, ΔS°, and ∆G° displayed the exothermic and spontaneous nature of dye adsorption on the NA-oxide adsorbent. Furthermore, the absorbent displayed remarkable stability with a recovery rate of 98.45% after ten cycles, signifying its potential for enduring effectiveness in dye removal processes., (© 2024. Exploring farmers' willingness to pay (WTP) for cultivated land protection and its influencing factors is key to promoting their enthusiasm for participating in cultivated land pollution governance. However, existing studies often overlook the differences in farmers' preference for different levels of cultivated land attributes and the issue of intertemporal choice in farmers' WTP, thus lowering the effectiveness of cultivated land protection policies. Using survey data from 646 small farmers in Shandong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces of China, this study empirically analyzes the impact of time preference on farmers' WTP for cultivated land attribute levels by utilizing the choice experiment method, measures the relative importance of different cultivated land attributes and attribute levels to farmers, and calculates farmers' WTP for different cultivated land attribute levels. The results revealed that farmers are generally reluctant to pay for cultivated land protection. Time preference affects farmers' WTP for different levels of cultivated land attributes, with future-biased preference increasing farmers' WTP and present-biased preference inhibiting it. Furthermore, for farmers, the relative importance of cultivated land attributes is in the order of cultivated land quality, cultivated land surrounding landscape and ecological environment, cultivated land social security function, and cultivated land area. The most crucial cultivated land attribute level is the improved cultivated land quality, with an average WTP of 3290.625 CNY per hectare (approximately 459.117 USD). In contrast, the least important cultivated land attribute level is the unchanged cultivated land area, with an average WTP of 1001.250 CNY per hectare (approximately 139.697 USD). The economic benefits of cultivated land protection in the sampled provinces can reach 353.892 million CNY per year (approximately 49.376 million USD) annually, which is calculated based on vegetable planting area. Our results suggest that the government should diversify farmers' sources of income while increasing the amount of income, thereby reducing barriers to farmers' payment. Simultaneously, farmers' time preferences should be considered to guide them toward expecting long-term benefits and encouraging their active participation in cultivated land pollution governance. Moreover, cultivated land protection policies should match the preference of farmers for cultivated land attributes and attribute levels, and a limited fiscal fund should be allocated to the cultivated land attributes (i.e., cultivated land quality) and attribute levels (i.e., improved cultivated land quality) preferred by farmers to improve policy efficiency. This study employed lignin-sulfonated (LS) to develop biobased carbon materials (LS-Cs) through a sulfur-doping approach to enhance their physicochemical properties, adsorption capabilities, and energy storage potentials. Various characterization techniques, including BET surface area analysis, SEM imaging, XPS, Raman spectroscopy, and elemental composition (CHNS), were employed to assess the quality of the LS-Cs adsorbent and electrode samples. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was utilized for optimizing the two main properties (specific surface area, A BET, and mesopore area, A MESO ) by evaluating three independent factors (i.e., activation temperature, ZnCl 2 :LS ratio, and sulfur content). According to the statistical analysis, A BET and A MESO were affected by ZnCl 2 and sulfur content, while the pyrolysis temperature did not affect the responses in the studied conditions. It was found that increasing the ZnCl 2 and sulfur contents led to an increment of the A BET and A MESO values. The LS-C materials exhibited very high A BET values up to 1993 m 2 g -1 and with predominantly mesoporous features. The S-doping resulted in LS-Cs with high sulfur contents in their microstructures up to 15% (wt%). The LS-C materials were tested as adsorbents for sodium diclofenac (DCF) adsorption and reactive orange 16 dye (RO-16) and as electrodes for supercapacitors. The LS-Cs exhibited excellent adsorption capacity values for both molecules (197-372 mg g -1 ) for DCF, and (223-466 mg g -1 ) for RO-16. When tested as electrodes for supercapacitors, notably, LS-C3, which is a doped sample with sulfur, exhibited the best electrochemical performance, e.g. high specific capacitance (156 F/g at 50 mV/s), and delivered an excellent capacitance after 1000 cycles (63 F/g at 1 A/g), which denotes the noteworthy capacitive behavior of the S-doped electrode. Thus, the present work suggests an eco-friendly resource for developing effective, productive carbon materials for adsorbent and electrodes for SC application. When operating in space, on-board Silicon Geiger-Mode Avalanche Photodiodes (GM-APDs) are exposed to radiation damage that result in an increase in dark count rates. Thermal annealing has been found to mitigate the damage, although prior studies have largely focused on annealing following a single session of proton irradiation. This work reports that thermal annealing can be performed simply with the built-in thermo-electric coolers of the GM-APDs. Annealing was also done in 10 min intervals for a clearer view of the recovery curve. Mitigation of damage from repeated γ radiation was observed from the: (1) halving of the increase in dark count rates on average and (2) outperformance of room temperature annealing ( 25 ∘ C) by 33 % . Additionally, we show that heavy doses of γ radiation (21 krad) have a probability of causing Random Telegraph Signals in GM-APDs that can be suppressed by lowering the operating temperature., (© 2024. The electronic medical record management system plays a crucial role in clinical practice, optimizing the recording and management of healthcare data. To enhance the functionality of the medical record management system, this paper develops a customized schema designed for ophthalmic diseases. A multi-modal knowledge graph is constructed, which is built upon expert-reviewed and de-identified real-world ophthalmology medical data. Based on this data, we propose an auxiliary diagnostic model based on a contrastive graph attention network (CGAT-ADM), which uses the patient's diagnostic results as anchor points and achieves auxiliary medical record diagnosis services through graph clustering. By implementing contrastive methods and feature fusion of node types, text, and numerical information in medical records, the CGAT-ADM model achieved an average precision of 0.8563 for the top 20 similar case retrievals, indicating high performance in identifying analogous diagnoses. Our research findings suggest that medical record management systems underpinned by multimodal knowledge graphs significantly enhance the development of AI services. These systems offer a range of benefits, from facilitating assisted diagnosis and addressing similar patient inquiries to delving into potential case connections and disease patterns. Breast cancer (BC) is a prominent cause of female mortality on a global scale. Recently, there has been growing interest in utilizing blood and tissue-based biomarkers to detect and diagnose BC, as this method offers a non-invasive approach. To improve the classification and prediction of BC using large biomarker datasets, several machine-learning techniques have been proposed. In this paper, we present a multi-stage approach that consists of computing new features and then sorting them into an input image for the ResNet50 neural network. The method involves transforming the original values into normalized values based on their membership in the Gaussian distribution of healthy and BC samples of each feature. To test the effectiveness of our proposed approach, we employed the Coimbra and Wisconsin datasets. The results demonstrate efficient performance improvement, with an accuracy of 100% and 100% using the Coimbra and Wisconsin datasets, respectively. Schools in the United States remain heavily segregated by race and income. Previous work demonstrates districts can promote group diversity within their schools with policies like redrawing attendance zones. Yet, the promise of such policies in many areas is limited by the fact that most school segregation occurs between school districts, and not between schools in the same district. I adapt Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithms from legislative redistricting to redraw school district boundaries that decrease segregation while maintaining desirable criteria like distance to school and using only existing school facilities. Focusing on New Jersey, where the segregation of Black and Hispanic students from White and Asian students is among the worst in the country, I demonstrate that redrawing school districts could reduce more than 40% of existing segregation in the median New Jersey county, compared to less than 5% for redrawing attendance zones alone. Finally, I show how my proposed methodology can be applied to as few as two districts to reduce segregation in proposed consolidations, when small districts are merged into a larger district., (© 2024. Firm location studies traditionally assume that this is business that attracts other business to a given location. They focus on knowledge transfers between the most productive and innovative firms and analyse agglomeration economies arising from matching, learning and sharing mechanisms. We argue that the population density also attracts firms to the place. Therefore, we extend this stream of research by using the concept of economies of density to discuss the effects of the attraction of firms by population. There is a growing number of publicly available ophthalmic imaging datasets and open-source code for Machine Learning algorithms. This allows ophthalmic researchers and practitioners to independently perform various deep-learning tasks. With the advancement in artificial intelligence (AI) and in the field of imaging, the choice of the most appropriate AI architecture for different tasks will vary greatly. The best-performing AI-dataset combination will depend on the specific problem that needs to be solved and the type of data available. The article discusses different machine learning models and deep learning architectures currently used for various ophthalmic imaging modalities and for different machine learning tasks. It also proposes the most appropriate models based on accuracy and other important factors such as training time, the ability to deploy the model on clinical devices/smartphones, heatmaps that enhance the self-explanatory nature of classification decisions, and the ability to train/adapt on small image datasets to determine if further data collection is worthwhile. The article extensively reviews the existing state-of-the-art AI methods focused on useful machine-learning applications for ophthalmology. It estimates their performance and viability through training and evaluating architectures with different public and private image datasets of different modalities, such as full-color retinal images, OCT images, and 3D OCT scans. The ubiquitous presence of electronic devices demands robust hardware security mechanisms to safeguard sensitive information from threats. This paper presents a physical unclonable function (PUF) circuit based on magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM). The circuit utilizes inherent characteristics arising from fabrication variations, specifically magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) cell resistance, to produce corresponding outputs for applied challenges. In contrast to Arbiter PUF, the proposed effectively satisfies the strict avalanche criterion (SAC). Additionally, the grid-like structure of the proposed circuit preserves its resistance against machine learning-based modeling attacks. Various machine learning (ML) attacks employing multilayer perceptron (MLP), linear regression (LR), and support vector machine (SVM) networks are simulated for two-array and four-array architectures. The MLP-attack prediction accuracy was 53.61% for a two-array circuit and 49.87% for a four-array circuit, showcasing robust performance even under the worst-case process variations. In addition, deep learning-based modeling attacks in considerable high dimensions utilizing multiple networks such as convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), MLP, and Larq are used with the accuracy of 50.31%, 50.25%, 50.31%, and 50.31%, respectively. The efficiency of the proposed circuit at the layout level is also investigated for simplified two-array architecture. With the increasing demand for heat dissipation of engineering vehicles, a dual-cycle cooling system is introduced in this paper to prevent the adverse effects of engineering vehicles' equipment when operating at the overheating temperature. The performance of the new system is analyzed through tests, and the results show that the dual-cycle cooling system can meet the thermal balance requirements of the engineering vehicle during the shovel operation. Compared with the traditional cooling system, the new cooling system improved performance in terms of volume, engine energy consumption and working oil efficiency. The oil consumption of a wheel loader using the dual-cycle cooling system is reduced by 1% per hour, and the temperature of its transmission oil and hydraulic oil is reduced by more than 10 °C. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a widespread condition with considerable health and economic impacts globally. However, existing methodologies for serum creatinine assessment often involve prolonged wait times and sophisticated equipment, such as spectrometers, hindering real-time diagnosis and care. Innovative solutions like point-of-care (POC) devices are emerging to address these challenges. In this context, there is a recognized need for remote, regular, automated, and low-cost analysis of serum creatinine levels, given its role as a critical parameter for CKD diagnosis and management. This study introduces a miniaturized system with integrated heater elements designed for precise serum creatinine measurement. The system operates based on the Jaffe method and accurate serum creatinine measurement within a microreservoir chip. Smartphone-based image processing using the hue-saturation-value (HSV) color space was applied to captured images of microreservoirs. The creatinine analyses were conducted in serum with a limit of detection of ~ 0.4 mg/dL and limit of quantification of ~ 1.3 mg/dL. Smartphone-based image processing employing the HSV color space outperformed spectrometric analysis for creatinine measurement conducted in serum. This pioneering technology and smartphone-based processing offer the potential for decentralized renal function testing, which could significantly contribute to improved patient care. The miniaturized system offers a low-cost alternative ($87 per device), potentially reducing healthcare expenditures (~ $0.5 per test) associated with CKD diagnosis and management. Field observations frequently demonstrate stress fluctuations resulting from the reservoir depletion. The development of reservoirs, particularly the completion of infill wells and refracturing, can be significantly impacted by stress changes in and around drainage areas. Previous studies mainly focus on plane fractures and few studies consider the influence of complex transport and storage mechanism and irregular fracture geometry on stress evolution in shale gas reservoirs. Based on the embedded discrete fracture model (EDFM) and finite-volume method (FVM), a coupled geomechanics/fluid model has been successfully developed considering the adsorption, desorption, diffusion and slippage of shale gas. This model achieves coupling simulation of natural fractures, hydraulic fractures with complex geometry, storage and transport mechanism, reservoir stress, and pore-elastic effect. The open-source software OpenFOAM is used as the main solver for this model. The stress calculation and productivity simulation of the model are verified by the classical poroelasticity problem and the simulation results of published research and commercial simulator with EDFM respectively. The simulation results indicate that σ xx , σ yy , σ xy and Δσ changes with time and space due to the time effect and anisotropy of formation pressure depletion; Due to the influence of different mechanisms on shale gas storage and transport, the reservoir pressure and stress distribution under different mechanisms are different; Among them, the stress with full mechanisms differs the most compared to the stress without any mechanism. The reservoir with stronger stress sensitivity (smaller Biot coefficient) is less sensitive to formation pressure depletion, and the stress variation range is smaller. For reservoirs with weak stress sensitivity, formation pressure depletion is more likely to lead to stress reversal. Under the influence of fracture geometry, the pressure depletion regions caused by the three types of fracture geometry are approximately rectangular, parallelogram and square, respectively. The corresponding σ xx , σ yy and Δσ also have great differences in spatial distribution and values. Therefore, the time effect, shale gas storage and transport mechanism and the influence of complex fracture geometry should be considered when predicting pressure depletion induced stress under the condition of simultaneous production. The main chemical compositions of 201 surface sediments and 53 deep sediment samples from Chaohu Lake, China, were analysed. Since the surface sediments (0-2 cm depth) in Chaohu Lake are modern sediments, this paper mainly focuses on the deep sediments (50-100 cm depth) in Chaohu Lake. Particle size analysis and magnetization determination of the CH3 and CH4 column sediment samples were carried out. The age determination data of the CH-1 column sediment samples are reported. A systematic study of the rocks and their chemical compositional characteristics in the Chaohu Lake Basin was also carried out. The results of this study show that four positive chemical weathering indicators and one negative chemical weathering indicator are applicable to the study of Chaohu Lake. The mean CIA of the Chaohu Lake sediments was less than 65, indicating that the Chaohu Lake Basin experienced weak chemical weathering and that the palaeoclimate was cold and dry. Vertical variations in the mean grain size and magnetization in the CH3 and CH4 columnar sediments reflect changes in the depositional environment and climate during deposition of the Chaohu Lake sediments. The age data from the CH-1 column sediment samples directly indicate deposition of the deep sediments in Chaohu Lake during the Little Ice Age in eastern China (AD 1380-1880). The Th/U, Sc/Th, Rb/Sr, Na 2 O/K 2 O, CaO/MgO and OC/N ratios of the Chaohu sediments reflect palaeoclimate characteristics and the chemical compositions of the source rocks in the Chaohu Lake basin. The correlations of the CIA, CIW, PIA, and CIX with the chemical compositional ratios provide information on the palaeoclimate and the distribution of the chemical compositions. The CIA, CIW, PIA, and CIX were not correlated with Cd, Pb, As, Hg, or P. In contrast, the CIA, CIW, PIA, and CIX were significantly positively correlated with Cr and N. The WIP was inconsistently correlated with the selected chemical components. Therefore, the study of the correlations of chemical weathering indicators with four heavy metals and two eutrophication-related elements is of little significance. The study of the chemical weathering characteristics of deep sediments of inland lakes should be combined with assessment of the geological characteristics of the lake basins, particularly the analysis of the chemical composition of the rocks in the lake basins., (© 2024. Multiple-choice test generation is one of the most complex NLP problems, especially in languages other than English, where there is a lack of prior research. After a review of the literature, it has been verified that some methods like the usage of rule-based systems or primitive neural networks have led to the application of a recent architecture, the Transformer architecture, in the tasks of Answer Extraction (AE) and Question Generation (QG). Thereby, this study is centred in searching and developing better models for the AE and QG tasks in Spanish, using an answer-aware methodology. For this purpose, three multilingual models (mT5-base, mT0-base and BLOOMZ-560 M) have been fine-tuned using three different datasets: a translation to Spanish of the SQuAD dataset; SQAC, which is a dataset in Spanish; and their union (SQuAD + SQAC), which shows slightly better results. Regarding the models, the performance of mT5-base has been compared with that found in two newer models, mT0-base and BLOOMZ-560 M. These models were fine-tuned for multiple tasks in literature, including AE and QG, but, in general, the best results are obtained from the mT5 models trained in our study with the SQuAD + SQAC dataset. Nonetheless, some other good results are obtained from mT5 models trained only with the SQAC dataset. For their evaluation, the widely used BLEU1-4, METEOR and ROUGE-L metrics have been obtained, where mT5 outperforms some similar research works. The concept of volume fracturing has revolutionized the conventional limits of low permeability, expanded the effective resource space, and significantly enhanced oil well production in tight oil reservoir development. This paper elucidates the mechanism of volume fracturing technology for tight sandstone reservoirs by considering multiple factors such as the initiation range of multi-fractures, influence of far-well horizontal principal stress on fracture initiation and propagation, degree of natural fractures development, and mechanical parameters of reservoir rock. Through simulation based on the mechanical parameters of reservoir rock, a comparative analysis was conducted between the model-calculated rock fracture pressure value and measured data from fracturing construction wells in the study area. The results revealed that there was a discrepancy within 10% between the model calculations and actual data. By simulating the effects of different injection volumes of fracturing fluid, pumping rates, and perforation methods on the fracture geometry, optimal design parameters for volume fracturing technology were obtained. Additionally, we propose optimization ideas and suggestions for construction parameters applicable to field operations. The simulation results indicate that a minimum recommended fluid volume scale exceeding 1800 m 3 is advised for the reservoir. Based on frictional calculations, it is recommended to have an on-site construction rate not less than 18.0 m 3 /min along with 36-48 holes/section for perforation purposes. Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA) represents a fine-grained approach to sentiment analysis, aiming to pinpoint and evaluate sentiments associated with specific aspects within a text. ABSA encompasses a set of sub-tasks that together facilitate a detailed understanding of the multifaceted sentiment expressions. These tasks include aspect and opinion terms extraction (ATE and OTE), classification of sentiment at the aspect level (ALSC), the coupling of aspect and opinion terms extraction (AOE and AOPE), and the challenging integration of these elements into sentiment triplets (ASTE). Our research introduces a comprehensive framework capable of addressing the entire gamut of ABSA sub-tasks. This framework leverages the contextual strengths of BERT for nuanced language comprehension and employs a biaffine attention mechanism for the precise delineation of word relationships. To address the relational complexity inherent in ABSA, we incorporate a Multi-Layered Enhanced Graph Convolutional Network (MLEGCN) that utilizes advanced linguistic features to refine the model's interpretive capabilities. We also introduce a systematic refinement approach within MLEGCN to enhance word-pair representations, which leverages the implicit outcomes of aspect and opinion extractions to ascertain the compatibility of word pairs. We conduct extensive experiments on benchmark datasets, where our model significantly outperforms existing approaches. Our contributions establish a new paradigm for sentiment analysis, offering a robust tool for the nuanced extraction of sentiment information across diverse text corpora. To achieve high-efficiency combustion of heavy fuel oil (HFO), this study investigated the combustion characteristics of methanol/HFO droplets with methanol content from 10 to 30% using the suspension method under ambient temperature from 923 to 1023 K. The combustion of methanol/HFO droplets was summarized as a two-phase process consisting of six typical stages, emphasizing liquid phase. Especially, the fluctuation evaporation stage, induced by frequent and intense puffing, was identified as prominent character. Both the ignition delay and lifetime of HFO and methanol/HFO droplets decreased with increasing ambient temperatures. For the methanol/HFO droplet, the ignition delay and droplet lifetime increased with the increasing methanol content. Prominently, compared to HFO, HM10 had the most significant reduction in droplet lifetime and TINL under the same operating conditions, which indicated that the addition of 10% methanol accelerated the combustion process and reduced soot generation. Additionally, the thermos-dynamic characteristics of methanol/HFO droplets were investigated. Puffing was primarily attributed to superheating of methanol and pyrolysis of heavy components in HFO, which resulted in active and passive rupture of bubbles. Similarity and maximum deformation were employed to qualitatively distinguish between them. Identification of an early biomarker and effective testing device to differentiate dry eye disease secondary to autoimmune disease (Sjögren's syndrome dry eye disease) from non-Sjögren's dry eye disease are prerequisites for appropriate treatment. We aimed to demonstrate the capacity of a new photo-detection device to evaluate tear lactoferrin levels as a tool for differentiating systemic conditions associated with dry eye disease. Patients with non-Sjögren's and Sjögren's syndrome dry eye disease (n = 54 and n = 52, respectively) and controls (n = 11) were enrolled. All participants completed the Ocular Surface Disease Index questionnaire. Tear collection was performed with Schirmer test, and tear break-up time was examined using a slit lamp. Tear lactoferrin was evaluated using our newly developed photo-detection device. The average lactoferrin concentration was significantly lower in samples from patients with non-Sjögren's dry eye disease (0.337 ± 0.227 mg/mL, n = 54) and Sjögren's syndrome dry eye disease (0.087 ± 0.010 mg/mL, n = 52) than in control samples (1.272 ± 0.54 mg/mL, n = 11) (p < 0.0001). Further, lactoferrin levels were lower in patients with Sjögren's syndrome dry eye disease than in those with non-Sjögren's dry eye disease (p < 0.001). Our cost-effective, antibody-free, highly sensitive photo-detection device for evaluating tear lactoferrin levels can assist ophthalmologists in differentiating different types of dry eye diseases., (© 2024. Crowd flow prediction has been studied for a variety of purposes, ranging from the private sector such as location selection of stores according to the characteristics of commercial districts and customer-tailored marketing to the public sector for social infrastructure design such as transportation networks. Its importance is even greater in light of the spread of contagious diseases such as COVID-19. In many cases, crowd flow can be divided into subgroups by common characteristics such as gender, age, location type, etc. If we use such hierarchical structure of the data effectively, we can improve prediction accuracy of crowd flow for subgroups. But the existing prediction models do not consider such hierarchical structure of the data. In this study, we propose a deep learning model based on global-local structure of the crowd flow data, which utilizes the overall(global) and subdivided by the types of sites(local) crowd flow data simultaneously to predict the crowd flow of each subgroup. The experiment result shows that the proposed model improves the prediction accuracy of each sub-divided subgroup by 5.2% (Table 5 Cat #9)-45.95% (Table 11 Cat #5), depending on the data set. This result comes from the comparison with the related works under the same condition that use target category data to predict each subgroup. In addition, when we refine the global data composition by considering the correlation between subgroups and excluding low correlated subgroups, the prediction accuracy is further improved by 5.6-48.65%., (© 2024.
