Background and Purpose: In two previous studies, the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Workload Perception Scale (CWPS) was developed. The purpose of this paper is to report the final psychometric validation of the CWPS. Methods: An 11-item CWPS was tested in a population of CRNAs. Classical psychometrics were performed on the 11-item instrument piloted in a sample of 393 CRNAs. Results: Parametric and non-parametric analysis indicated 7 of 11 items were a good fit to measure perception of workload. Conclusions: A revised 7-item final CWPS was developed. Background and Purpose: Few studies have critically appraised Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) in immigrants. The purpose of the article is to determine if PSS is adequately developed and properly used with U.S. immigrants. Methods: Searching via PubMed and PsycINFO databases resulted in 10 research papers published between 2009 and 2019 that met the selection criteria and were integrated for this review. Results: Most of the studies do not have adequate theoretical models and do not have proper consideration of socio-cultural factors. Five studies used the PSS translated into different languages but only one study validated the translated version. Six studies reported the reliability of the PSS. The PSS-14 and PSS-10 may be appropriately used in immigrants to measure psychological stress. Background and Purpose: No scales measure self-efficacy in women with Type 2 diabetes. A scale was developed and tested. Methods: Items generated, content validity index (CVI) assessed by experts, the 2-part Diabetes Self-Efficacy Scale (DSLF-I and DSLF-II) was piloted with 62 women, administered to 208 women, and then readministered to 30 women to determine initial reliability. Factor analysis was conducted for construct validity. Discriminant, convergent, and predictive validity was examined. Results: The CVI index was 98%. Cronbach's alphas were 0.88 (DSLF-I) and 0.82 (DSLF-II; pilot) and 0.87 and 0.86, respectively (main study); test-retest correlation was .60 (DSLF-I) and .69 (DSLF-II). There were 3 factors that emerged: diabetes knowledge of self-care activity, diabetes diet self-care, and diabetes medication self-care. Background: This paper aimed to describe the modification, translation, and psychometric testing of the Arabic version of the Belongingness Scale-Clinical Placement Experience (BES-CPE). Methods: This study included the following phases: modification of the original BES-CPE based on the qualitative findings from a previous study; translation and back-translation of the scale; evaluation of the content validity by experts from Saudi Arabia; evaluation of the internal consistency reliability; and other psychometric properties of the Arabic BES-CPE. Result: The results demonstrated acceptable psychometric properties. The Cronbach' s alpha ranged from 0.68 to 0.92. Conclusion: The Arabic BES-CPE is a promising tool that can be used to assess Saudi nursing students' sense of belonging. Background and Purpose: Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is crucial to decision making for neurologically injured patients, yet measurement of ICP varies greatly among practitioners. Methods: Unblinded, nonrandomized, observational pilot study comparing ICP values collected using pen and paper (P&P), electronic medical record (EMR), and video data with continuous data acquisition (CDA) technology. Results: ICP values did not significantly differ between EMR and P&P records, despite an average of 16 minutes difference in reporting times. ICP values varied significantly when comparing CDA data to EMR or paper. Conclusion: The results of this pilot study put in to question the validity of ICP values that are recorded in the medical record, which has implications for patient care and research. Background and Purpose: The Acceptance and Action Diabetes Questionnaire (AADQ) is a tool for assessing the acceptance of thoughts and emotions related to diabetes in people living with the disease. This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Swedish version of AADQ (Swe-AADQ) in a sample of adults with type 1 diabetes. Methods: To examine the psychometric properties of the Swe-AADQ, the Rasch model was used. Data for 120 individuals were included. Results: The Swe-AADQ showed an acceptable fit to the Rasch model. A sufficiently high value of the separation index indicated a capacity to distinguish between different levels of acceptance in the sample. The 7-point Likert scale was reduced to three categories suggesting an improvement in the ordering of the item thresholds. Conclusions: The Swe-AADQ possesses reasonable quality in terms of reliability and validity. Background and Purpose: Compassion is increasingly considered essential to quality nursing care and is a concept that is strongly embedded across cultures, including Chinese culture. The Patient Compassion Model (PCM) depicts the unique yet overlapping domains of compassion. The Sinclair Compassion Questionnaire (SCQ) was directly developed and validated from this empirical model. In this study, we sought to establish initial validation of a translated SCQ among Mandarin-speaking patients by assessing the transferability of the PCM and the clinical sensibility of the SCQ. Methods: Forward and back-translation of the PCM and SCQ were performed in accordance with World Health Organization guidelines. Qualitative interviews were used to assess the transferability of the PCM with conceptualizations of compassion within a Chinese context. Cognitive interviews were conducted to assess the clarity, readability, wording, questions, and response scales of the Mandarin translation of the SCQ. Qualitative data were analyzed using constant comparative analysis, and cognitive interviews were analyzed using framework analysis. Results: The original categories of the PCM were verified in this Mandarin-speaking patient population. Specifically, participants' understanding of compassion is described as consisting of healthcare provider virtues, emphasizing the importance of a virtuous response that sought to understand the individual and their unique needs, to relationally communicate from a place of shared humanity and to ameliorate suffering. Participants were able to answer, comprehend, and endorse all 15 Mandarin SCQ items, resulting in no modifications to the Mandarin SCQ. Conclusions: This study provides initial validation of the Mandarin SCQ and PCM. Background and Purpose: Cultural competence is significant in addressing the health needs of vulnerable populations. This study conducted psychometric testing of a cultural competency instrument in the Philippines. Methods: Brislin's translation and a cross-sectional online design were used. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with varimax rotation examined construct validity of the 23-item scale among 157 adult LGBTQ+ residents. The scale revealed overall reliability (α =.85) including two subscales (α =.87, α =.81, and α =.61). The EFA yielded three theoretical factorial solutions. Conclusion: The Filipino version of the instrument demonstrated reliability and validity. Measuring clients' perceptions of provider and organizational cultural competency can improve the utilization of healthcare in Filipino LGBTQ+ communities. Background and Purpose: This study aimed to develop and examine the psychometric properties of the "Preparedness for Transition to Survivorship Care Instrument" (PTSCI) for cancer survivors. Methods: A cross-sectional study of cancer survivors in Korea was conducted to test the reliability and validity of the PTSCI. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and concurrent validity tests were conducted. Results: The EFA showed that the 7-factor structure of a 34-item PTSCI accounted for 61.5% of the total observed variance. In CFA, three competing models were created and compared to a 7-factor solution model. A 6-factor 31-item model showed the best fit and was chosen as the final PTSCI model. PTSCI is significantly associated with quality of life, psychological distress, and health promotion. Background and Purpose: Clinical reasoning for nurses is considered a valuable component of clinical nursing competencies, but there are few tools to ascertain this. This study tested the Italian Nurses Clinical Reasoning Scale (I-NCRS) psychometric properties based on Levett-Jones' theoretical clinical reasoning model. Methods: Content, face, and construct characteristics were ascertained for their validity. The study had a two-phase design: (a) content and face validity and (b) construct validity. Results: Three factors emerged from the factorial analysis of our reference sample: nursing problems of health, nursing information of health, and nursing assessment of health. Conclusions: The scale represents a valuable tool for the self-assessment of the clinical reasoning skills of nurses. Background and Purpose: Electronic health record systems (EHRSs) are widely used to record patients' data and should be compatible with nurses' workflow. The purpose of this study was to adapt the Workflow Integration Survey (WIS) to the Turkish language and examine the reliability and validity measures of the Turkish version of the scale. Methods: In this methodological study, data were collected between December 2019 and February 2020 from 120 nurses. This study included the following phases: translation and evaluation of the content validity; explanatory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and reliability analysis. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used for the test–retest reliability with 30 nurses. Results: The results of CFA revealed a two factors' structure, and these two factors explained 50.57% of the total variance. This was confirmed (χ2/ df = 1.673, goodness-of-fit index = 0.948, incremental fit index = 0.923, comparative fit index = 0.918, root mean square error of approximation = 0.075, and standardized root mean square residual = 0.0604) using structural equation modeling. The total Cronbach's alpha value was found to be.702,.636, and.649 for the subscales. The ICC was calculated for test–retest reliability and was found to be 0.871. Conclusions: The validity and reliability of the WIS have been found to be sufficient. It is recommended that the validity and reliability studies on the WIS be conducted in different hospitals with a larger number of participants. Background and Purpose: It is essential to address sexual health to ensure quality of life and sexual well-being; however, studies to measure sexual attitudes remain scarce. This study aimed to find reliability and validity evidence of the Brief Sexual Attitudes Scale (BSAS) using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) among Filipino men. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. Results: BSAS shows coefficient alpha of 0.90. Background and Purpose: An instrument to measure wellness behaviors in adolescent females did not appear in the literature. The purpose of this article is to describe the development and evaluation of the Self-Rated Abilities for Health and Practices Scale–Adolescent Version (SRAHP-A). Methods: Initial psychometric testing was conducted with a sample of 265 adolescents and young adults aged 13–24 years. Data collection occurred through paper and pencil surveys. Results: Exploratory factor analysis using maximum likelihood factor extraction method and oblique ration was conducted. A four-factor structure consisting of Exercise, Nutrition, Health Practices, and Well-Being emerged. Conclusions: Initial psychometric testing suggested that it is a valid and reliable measure of wellness behaviors in adolescent females. Background and Purpose: The purpose of this article is to document the development and validation process of an instrument adapted for French-speaking nurses and to measure the occurrence of omitted nursing care (ONC) in the intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: An electronic Delphi panel, involving ICU nursing experts from the province of Quebec (Canada), was used to develop the intensive care unit omitted nursing care (ICU-ONC) instrument. For the validation process, an electronic cross-sectional survey was conducted. Results: A total of 564 nurses participated in the validation study. Exploratory factor analysis performed on 478 complete observations supports the presence of a single-factor structure for the 22-item ICU-ONC instrument. Coefficient alpha for the scale was.93, 95% confidence interval (CI) was [0.92, 0.94], item–partial total correlations ranged from.49 and.68, and the mean/median interitem correlations were.38 and.37, respectively. Moderate negative correlations were found between the ICU-ONC instrument overall score and two related constructs: nurses' perception of the quality as well as the safety of care. Conclusions: Our current understanding of ONC in the ICU is based on the results drawn from the administration of generic instruments to ICU nurses. Background and Purpose: This study aimed to translate and validate a Japanese version of the Paternal Antenatal Attachment Scale (PAAS-J). Methods: The PAAS-J was translated through a pilot study and a survey of fathers with pregnant partners. Results: The survey involved 189 fathers. A confirmatory factor analysis was performed, but the model fit was poor. Therefore, an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed. Based on the results of the EFA, three items with low interitem correlations and factor loadings were deleted, and a 13-item scale consisting of 2 domains was created. Coefficient alpha was.80. Background and Purpose: Cultural competence in clinical nurses can lead to comprehensive care for patients from different cultures. Currently, an appropriate instrument to assess cultural competence in clinical nurses is limited. This study aimed to design and determine the psychometric properties of the clinical nursing cultural competence scale (CNCCS). Methods: This methodological study was conducted in 2018–2019 in two phases. In the first phase, a literature review and semistructured interviews with 18 clinical nurses from Isfahan and Ahvaz were conducted, and the results were used for item generation. In the second phase, the face, content, construct validity, and reliability of the questionnaire were assessed. For construct validity assessment through exploratory factor analysis (EFA), 200 clinical nurses were purposefully recruited to fill out CNCCS. Results: In the first phase, 140 items were produced. In the second phase, the item number was reduced to 40 after the face and content validity assessment. In EFA for construct validity assessment, 13 more items were deleted, and the remaining 27 items were loaded on six factors. The Cronbach's alpha and the test–retest intraclass correlation coefficient were CNCCS 0.86 and 0.93, respectively. Conclusions: The CNCCS had acceptable psychometric characteristics in Iranian nurses and can be used for assessing cultural competence among clinical nurses. Background and Purpose: The main aim of this study has been the psychometric validation of an Italian translation of the Nurse Professional Competence Scale-Short Form (I-NPCS-SF), testing its validity and reliability. Methods: A multiphase design was used for the I-NPCS-SF translation and psychometric validation: (a) cultural and linguistic validation, (b) content and face validity, and (c) construct validity. Results: The I-NPCS-SF showed adequate linguistic translation, cultural adaptation, and content validity. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a four-factor structure of the I-NPCS-SF, in explaining data obtained from nurses and nursing students. Conclusions: The I-NPCS-SF demonstrated evidence of validity and reliability in measuring four professional competencies. Having an appropriate tool to be applied in the Italian context for professional competence self-assessment constitutes an essential step in measuring professional competencies. Background and Purpose: Engagement in one's healthcare is paramount to improving health outcomes. As adolescents begin their journey into adulthood and increase involvement in their health-care decision-making, it is critical to understand their ability to be involved in their healthcare. The purpose of this instrumentation study was to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties and underlying factors of the Adolescent Capacity to Engage Index (ACEI) tool which measures the construct of an adolescent's capacity to engage in their healthcare. Methods: This study had a two-phase approach. Phase 1 consisted of the pilot and cognitive testing of the items developed based on the literature and content expertise. Phase 2 was the testing of the final 21 item revised instrument among 15- to 17-year-old online teen panel (n = 226). Results: Psychometric testing revealed a valid and reliable 21 item scale with a four-factor solution. The Cronbach's alpha for the total scale was.901. The four subscales and each subscale Cronbach's alpha were: (a) Active Participation In Healthcare with Psychosocial Support to Aid/Foster Good Healthcare Choices, (.826); (b) Transition Readiness to Self-Management with Family Support to Guide/Foster Health/Healthcare Decisions, (.825); (c) Proactivity and Empowerment to Have a Say in Health/Healthcare, (.747); and (d) Technology Use to Seek Health/Healthcare Information (.648). Conclusions: This study demonstrated the ACEI is a psychometrically sound instrument with good internal consistency for the overall scale and subscales. The ACEI can be implemented in clinical practice to measure adolescents' engagement capacity in their healthcare and identify appropriate interventions based on ACEI score. Background and Purpose: It is critical to accurately measure and understand the nurse practitioner (NP) work environment in which individual NP information is gathered but decisions or inferences are made at an aggregated, group level. However, there is little research on preconditions of aggregating individual-level data into group level in nursing research. This study was conducted to assess the multilevel reliability and group interrater agreement (IRA) of the Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Organizational Climate Questionnaire. Methods: Secondary data analysis from a cross-sectional survey with 247 NPs in 112 practices across 6 U.S. states in 2018–2019 was used. Results: The generalizability coefficients and values of IRA were acceptable (>.70), and values of ICC(1) were significant (.18–.38). Background and Purpose: Currently, there is no available Finnish version of the Genomic Nursing Concept Inventory tool (GNCI). This study tested the validity, reliability, and clinical usability of a Finnish translation. Methods: A decision tree algorithm was used to guide the translation, as per International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research guidelines. Item-Content Validity Index (I-CVI), modified kappa (k*) statistics, and Cronbach's alpha were calculated. Background and Purpose: Limited culturally relevant condom self-efficacy measures have been adapted for use with Chilean college students. This study aims to culturally adapt and measure the psychometric properties of the Condom Use Self-Efficacy Scale (CUSES) by use in college students in Chile. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in six stages: (a) authorization from original authors, (b) translation, (c) back translation, (d) analysis of equivalences, (e) content analysis, and (f) exploratory factor analysis and reliability assessment. Results: Of the 460 college students who completed the Chilean CUSES (Ch-CUSES), 73.9% were women and 99% were single with a mean age of 20.5. Total scale Cronbach's alpha was 0.845, and factor analysis demonstrated six dimensions with 59.1% of the total variance. The factor loading scores of 21 items ranged between 0.515 and 0.921. Background & Purpose: This study aims to consolidate expert views and validated 371 items for developing spiritual intelligence instrument for Muslim nurses guided by the Spiritual Intelligence Model for Human Excellence (SIMHE). Methods: A Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) was used to validate these items and analyzed with Triangular Fuzzy Numbers and Defuzzification process. Views from 20 experts from three different backgrounds, namely, theology/Sufism, psychology and Islamic counseling, and evaluation and measurement, were also included in the validation process. Results: All items fulfilled the prerequisite of a threshold level of (d) ≤ 0.2, which obtained more than 75% of expert consensus and α -cut value ≥ of 0.5. Background and Purpose: To report on the psychometric properties of the Acute Coronary Syndrome Response Index in adults without heart disease. Methods: Participants were enrolled online, using social media platforms and an email listserv. The sample of 1,040 was randomly split into two sub-samples for exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Results: Exploratory factor analysis yielded a four-factor solution for the knowledge subscale, a one-factor solution for the attitudes subscale, and a two-factor solution for the belief subscale. Subsequent confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated an excellent fit for the attitudes and beliefs subscales and an acceptable fit for the knowledge subscale. Conclusions: The Acute Coronary Syndrome Response Index can be used with individuals without diagnosed heart disease. Background and Purpose: To adapt, validate and assess the psychometric properties of the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS-19 items), Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale (IEPS-18 items) and Team Skills Scale (TSS-17 items) in 484 undergraduate students. Methods: Transcultural adaptation of the scales was performed. Internal consistency, test-retest reliability, factor analysis, and convergent and discriminant validity were determined. Results: The instruments showed good internal consistency and test-retest reliability for total score. However, factor analyses revealed differences in the subscales compared to the original validations. The RIPLS detected more differences, discriminating gender, race, course semester and course enrolled. The TSS and IEPS detected differences in age and course enrolled. Conclusions: These scales appear to have satisfactory psychometric properties and could be used in both research and education. The subscales, however, should be interpreted with caution. Background: Valid and reliable tools must be implemented to measure nursing students' evidence-based practice (EBP) knowledge and skills that transfer to their practice. Purpose: To-translate and validate the English version of the Evidence Based Practice Competence Questionnaire (EBP-COQ-E). Methods: The EBP-COQ developed by Ruzafa-Martinez in Spain was administered to a sample of 279 undergraduate nursing students. Results: The content validity index was 96.16%, indicating that all items were correlated with the measurement of EBP competence. The Cronbach's alpha was 0.83, indicating good internal consistency. In confirmatory factor analysis, a three-factor solution was extracted with an eigenvalue greater than one, indicating a good measure of what it purports to be measuring. Background and Purpose: The purpose of this study was to expand on the limited psychometric testing of the NPI-Q, and extend testing to include hospitalized older adults. Method: This was a descriptive study using data from 318 dyads in an ongoing cluster randomized clinical trial. Rasch analysis and hypothesis testing were done. Results: The majority of the participants were female (62%), non-Hispanic (98%), and black (50%) with a mean age of 81.62 (SD = 8.43). There was evidence of internal consistency and invariance across race and gender. The items fit with each subscale. Hypothesis testing was supported with a significant association between the NPI-Q and dementia and caregiver distress. Background and Purpose: Consistent measurement of respectful maternity care (RMC) is lacking. This Delphi study assessed consensus about indicators of RMC. Methods: A multidisciplinary panel assessed items (n = 201) drawn from global literature. Over two rounds, the panel rated importance, relevance, and clarity, and ranked priority within 17 domains including communication, autonomy, support, stigma, discrimination, and mistreatment. Qualitative feedback supported the analysis. Results: In Round One, 191 indicators exceeded a content validation index of 0.80. In Round Two, Kendall's W ranged from 0.081 (p =.209) to 0.425 (p <.001) across domains. Fourteen indicators received strong support. Changes in indicator assessment between rounds prevented agreement stability assessment. Conclusion: The indicators comprise a registry of items for use in perinatal care research. Background: Understanding the extent to which dementia care content is integrated into curricula is vital to prepare the nursing workforce to provide quality dementia care. Purpose: To revise and examine the content validity of the Dementia Care Content in Nursing Curricula Instrument (DCCNCI), an instrument for assessing dementia care content in prelicensure nursing curricula. Method: We generated additional items and refined the original DCCNCI. Ten recruited expert reviewers rated each item for relevancy and assessed their clarity, meaningfulness, and completeness. Results: 39 of 47 items on the DCCNCI-Revised indicated significant content validity (cut-off value: 0.62, as calculated by applying Lawshe's formula for calculating content validity ratio). Background and Purpose: We aimed to translate the Comprehensive Score of Financial Toxicity (COST) questionnaire into Arabic and to evaluate its reliability and validity. Methods: We applied the four-step translation method and conducted a pilot validation study over 179 medical oncology patients. Reliability was tested using the Cronbach alpha coefficient and test–retest stability. Validity was tested using the correlation with Functional assessment of Cancer Therapy-General score (FACT-G), factorial analysis and the content validity index. Results: Questionnaire showed high internal consistency and test retest reliability; Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0.77 and Pearson stability coefficient was 0.8. Convergent validity evaluation showed a statistically significant moderate correlation with the FACT-G (r =.42, p =.047). Content validly index was 0.93. Conclusions: The Arabic version of COST questionnaire, was a valid and reliable tool that could be used in clinical practice by healthcare providers to evaluate financial toxicity in Arab speaking cancer patients. Background and Purpose: Hope in children is critical however multidimensional tools to measure hope are almost nonexistent. The aim of study is to develop and psychometrically evaluate a multidimensional children's version of the well-regarded Herth Hope Index for those 8–12 years old. Methods: Phase one; qualitative study of hope in children, construction of the Herth Hope Index – Child Version (HHI-C), and validation by focus groups. Phase two; pilot testing with 22 children. Phase three; psychometric evaluation with 125 children. Results: Cronbach's alpha of 0.856 with 3-week test–retest reliability of 0.966. Construct validity supported factorial isolation of three factors: (a) inner positive readiness; (b) interconnectedness with self and others; (c) temporality and future. Background and Purpose: Item analysis is important in examining the quality of items. The main aims of this sub-study were to assess and improve the psychometric properties of the modified version of the Routine Blood Transfusion Knowledge Questionnaire (RBTKQ-2) and produce an optimized version (RBTKQ-O) of it. Methods: Statistical item analysis was performed on the RBTKQ-2 after completion by 305 nurses. Results: There were one (3%) easy, 15 (47%) moderately difficult, and 16 (50%) difficult items. Twenty six (81%) items and six (19%) had positive significant and weak point-biserial correlation respectively. The majority of distractors (n = 66, 64%) were functional. Four sources of information, including item analysis data, informed the development of the RBTKQ-O. Background and Purpose : How the Area Deprivation Index (ADI) performs compared to other measures of socioeconomic status (SES) is unknown. The study purpose is to compare the ADI and other measures of SES in their ability to predict pain severity/interference. Methods : Four measures of SES were compared—ADI, income, education, and subjective social status (SSS). Results : Pain severity/interference correlated positively with ADI (r =.396/ r =.33), and negatively with income (r = –.507/ r = –.428) and education (r = –.271/ r = –.102). Criterion scores of the pain severity model suggest income performs best (AIC = 428.29/BIC = 436.22), followed by ADI (AIC = 437.24/BIC = 445.17), with education performing least well (AIC = 446.35/BIC = 454.29). Similar results were seen for the pain interference model. Background and Purpose: The Unidimensional Fatigue Impact Scale (U-FIS) was developed for use in a multiple sclerosis population. The aim was to determine whether the U-FIS is a valid tool for measuring the impact of fatigue in Crohn's disease (CD). Method: CD patients completed the U-FIS as part of a validation study of the Crohn's Life Impact Questionnaire (CLIQ). Data were analyzed according to Rasch measurement theory (RMT). Results: Two hundred sixty-one completed U-FIS questionnaires were available for analysis. After rescoring the items to resolve disordered thresholds, all 22 items showed acceptable RMT fit. However, there was considerable local item dependency (LID). Conclusion: The U-FIS did not provide unidimensional measurement in a sample of CD patients due to high levels of LID. Background and purpose: Patient acceptance of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) is one of the factors influencing clinical outcomes. This study aimed to develop a Japanese version of the Florida Patient Acceptance Survey (FPAS; a measure of acceptance of ICDs), examine its reliability and validity, and test instrument reliability and ability to generate valid data in a new population. Methods: 122 outpatients with ICD, cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRTD) completed the FPAS, the 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey developed for the Medical Outcomes Study, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Results: Confirmatory and exploratory factor data analyses yielded a three-factor model with nine items. Background: Higher education students, especially nursing students, have drawn more attention as a group that is vulnerable to the risk of developing burnout syndrome. Purpose: To test the psychometric properties of the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory in Nursing (OLBI-N). Methods: The OLBI-N validity and reliability was tested in a sample of 476 nursing students. The validity was assessed with explorative and confirmative factor analyses. For hypothesis testing, we evaluated the correlation between burnout and academic self-efficacy. Results: Two factors (exhaustion and disengagement) were identified, and the confirmative factor analysis of the OLBI-N yielded a good fit. The OLBI-N was significantly correlated with academic self-efficacy (r = −0.37, 0.29, p < 0.01). Objective: The aim of this study is to seek evidence for the validity and reliability of the Childbirth Trauma Index Scale, originally developed by Anderson for adolescents, among women in 18–45 age group. Method: Two hundred twenty women who were in the postpartum period until 72 hours after birth were included in the study. In the study, the Impact of Events Scale was used to test the criterion validity of the Childbirth Trauma Index Scale, being adapted to Turkish. Results: The goodness of fit values obtained by the first level CFA (χ2 (19, N = 220) 91.75; p <.01; χ2/ SD = 4.82; CMIN = 91.75; RMSEA = 0.132; CFI =.90; GFI =.90) shows that the proposed two-factor model is acceptable in accordance with the data. Background and Purpose: Only a limited number of items involved in missed nursing care inventories specifically focused on infection control practices. The study aimed to adapt and evaluate psychometric properties of the Czech and Slovak version of the Infection Control Missed Care survey; and to assess and compare the amount, type,and reasons for missed nursing care in infection prevention and control amongCzech and Slovak nurses. Methods: The convenience sample of 1459 nurses from the Czechand Slovak republic was recruited. Analysis of the nurses' responses to both subscales of the surveys and validation of their data was undertaken using the item response theory (Rasch scaling). Results: The now-modified Czech version consists only of 20 items measuring the type and frequency of missed care and 11 items focusing on the reasons for missed care. The now modified Slovak version consists of 34 items measuring the type and frequency of missed care and 17 items measuring the reasons for missed care. Reliability estimates with the removal of unreliable items showed acceptable reliability estimates for both sub-scales of the instrument. Conclusions: With modification to the two subscales used in the survey (removal of poorly fitting items) it should be reliable, and the resulting data could be used for further investigation such as factor analysis or modelling. Background and Purpose: Families of children with feeding disorder face significant challenges in supporting their child's feeding, growth, and development. The Feeding Impact Scales were developed to assess how child feeding impacts parent and family. Methods: Items were adapted from an existing scale. Parents of children with feeding difficulty completed the online survey. Item response theory (IRT) analyses were used to evaluate and reduce items. Internal consistency reliability, convergent validity, and readability were tested. Results: IRT analyses (n = 317) identified 12 items for the Parent Impact and 13 items for the Family Impact. Background and Purpose: Cultural adaptation of Medication Adherence Self-Efficacy Scale-Revised is lacking in the Arab population. This study tested the psychometric properties of the Arabic version of the Medication Adherence Self-Efficacy Scale-Revised. Methods: The study included 199 Omani hypertensive patients. The scale was translated into Arabic. Reliability and construct and convergent validity were examined. Results: Scale's reliability was α =.93. One factor was identified and explained about 57.5% of the variance. A new modified model with covariance suggested a better model fit. A significant relationship between the scale and Morisky medication adherence scale was found (r =.53, p <.001). Background and Purpose: Nurses' self-perception of their performance toward family members of patients is one of the most important issues in predicting family adaptive behaviors. This study analyzed the psychometric properties of the Persian version of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses' perceptions questionnaire of self-performance with families of critically ill patients. Methods: Among 135 intensive care nurses, to determine face validity, 10 nurses were asked to comment on, comprehensibility, grammar, and writing of items. Exploratory factor analysis was used to assess construct validity. Results: The intra-cluster correlation coefficient (ICC) was 0.82 and Cronbach's alpha was 0.74. Background and Purpose: The purpose of this research was to evaluate the psychometric properties of hospital preparedness instruments in biological events. The Co nsensus-based S tandards for the selection of health M easurements In struments (COSMIN) checklist has been used to design the appropriate hospital preparedness instruments in these events. Methods: A systematic search was performed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and ProQuest, Google Scholar for relevant literature until December 31, 2018, and the data were extracted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The quality of the identified studies was assessed per measurement property according to the COSMIN checklist. Twenty studies that met the inclusion criteria were included. Results: The result showed that none of the evaluated checklists and instruments included all dimensions required for an appropriate hospital preparedness evaluation. The results revealed that none of the included studies reported adequate information on all the measurement properties of the instruments studied as per the COSMIN criteria. Conclusions: The information on their measurement properties was lacking. Thus, there was a need for evaluating measurement. However, a vital necessity is felt for developing an instrument with acceptable psychometric properties for measuring hospital preparedness in biological events. Background and Purpose: Evidence is lacking with regard to the most suitable instrument for measuring quality of life (QOL) in patients with schizophrenia. The researchers carried out a methodological review of literature pertaining to scales used to measure QOL in this population. Methods: Twenty-eight studies, assessing nine different QOL scales, were reviewed using the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) checklist. Results: While the content of most scales proved valid, the Lancashire Quality of Life Profile (LQOLP), Self-Report Quality of Life Scale (SQOL), and Quality of Life in Schizophrenia (QLiS) outscored the other scales in almost every other domain measured by COSMIN. Conclusion: LQOLP and SQOL stand out among QOL scales for patients with schizophrenia, but further evidence is required to verify this finding, and no one scale appears ideal for all patients with schizophrenia. Background and Purpose: The purpose of this article is to describe an evaluation of psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Clinical Learning Environment, Supervision, and Nurse Teacher (CLES + T) scale, a scale that measures nursing students' perceptions of their clinical learning environment. Methods: The CLES + T was completed by 292 nursing students. Inter-item correlations, exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, and evidence of validity were used to examine reliability and validity. Background and Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale—Community (MUIS-C), used to gauge level of uncertainty among baby boomers with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, as a reliable two-factor instrument. Methods: A CFA was conducted to test MUIS-C. There were minor deviations from normality. Subsequently, 130 participants were used to examine the factor structure and the model fit. A robust maximum likelihood (ML) estimation using the Wishart distribution was implemented in R version 3.3.1. Results: A very good model fit was obtained (χ 2(101) = 118.32, p =.115, TLI = 0.977, CFI = 0.983, RMSEA = 0.036, 90% CI (0.000, 0.061), and SRMR = 0.057). Background and Purpose: Childbirth can have negative consequences; however, measurement tools to assess this event are limited; and none consider the adolescent's birth. This study assessed the psychometric properties of the childbirth trauma index (CTI). Methods: Construct validity and reliability of the CTI was assessed via a field test involving 160 adolescents 3 days postpartum. Results: A modified 8-item version of the original CTI exhibited acceptable construct validity and reliability criteria. The CTI was found to link with birth appraisal, but not subjective distress measurements. Background and Purpose: Assessing factors related to nurses' job satisfaction may help to address nursing shortages and high turnover rates. Job satisfaction is complicated and may be related to several issues, including trait emotional intelligence. This study examined the reliability and validity of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF) in a sample of nurses working in the United Arab Emirates, and tested its ability to predict job satisfaction. Methods: The TEIQue-SF was tested against its original long form and as a predictor of the Nurse Satisfaction Scale. Background and Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Patient Assessment of Own Functioning Inventory (PAOFI) following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Methods: The PAOFI was completed by 182 participants 3 months after verified aSAH. Exploratory factor analysis was used to evaluate the underlying factor structure of the PAOFI and reliability and concurrent validity were evaluated for each subscale. Results: A three-factor structure accounted for 58.9% of the extracted variance. Cronbach's alpha coefficients for extracted factors ranged from.867 to.924. Background: Matching nursing shift assignment to patients' acuity scores may promote a more equitable and effective workload balance, increasing nurses' satisfaction, and improving quality of care (QoC). Purpose: This article explores nurses' perspectives about the nursing assignment process after implementing a project to promote an improved nursing assignment process in medical/surgical wards by using Perroca patient acuity tool (PAT). Design: Qualitative approach was used with two focus group discussions including a total of 13 participants, selected by purposive sampling. Results: Four main themes were generated from the data. Background and Purpose: The Health Risk Screening Tool (HRST) is a 22-item instrument specifically designed to assess the health risk of persons with developmental disabilities. The predictive validity of the HRST was investigated by examining its ability to predict mortality. Methods: The sample consisted of 12,582 people with an intellectual or developmental disability residing in Georgia (U.S.). Data were analyzed using survival analysis (Kaplan–Meier estimate and Cox regression) and a binary logistic regression. Results: All models supported the prognostic value of the six-level health risk classification. The Kaplan–Meier procedure showed clear separation among functions. The Cox proportional hazard regression revealed that hazard is inversely related to the health risk level, even after controlling for potential confounding by gender, ethnicity, and race. Background and purpose: The Minimal Eating Observation Form – II (MEOF-II) is a screening and research tool for eating difficulties. We assess psychometric and metrological aspects of the Danish version of the tool. Methods: This study includes MEOF-II data from 302 acute geriatric patients. Analyses were based on Classical Test Theory and Rasch Model Analysis. Results: 51.3% of the patients had eating difficulties. The MEOF-II items belonged to one higher order factor, and three lower level factors: deglutition; ingestion; and energy/appetite. The hierarchical structure of the items was revealed. The MEOF-II had a good fit with Rasch model expectations. Conclusion: The study provides support for the reliability and validity of the Danish version of the MEOF-II.
