The Franciscan and the Jesuit are Western cultural traditions born in Europe and expanded to throughout the world. We have approached the circumstances of this presence in America and Brazil. Here they are designed in the manner of ideal types in dialogue, which composed a creative tension within our educational history. We wish to highlight the Franciscan tradition that remains sidelined by researchers and authors, even in the basic texts for the decipherment of Brazil. To understand the Franciscan and the Jesuit, and from the imbrication of the theme with the field of colonial education, we used paradigmatic texts and authors of both traditions, particularly Gilberto Freyre and Fernando de Azevedo.

The paper analyzes the document prepared by the World Bank Achieving a World-Class Education In Brazil: The Next Agenda, which performs an assessment of the last twenty years of educational policies implemented in Brazil, and outlines perspectives for the coming years, according to the Bank's conception of education and society. This international body assesses as positive the character of the implemented educational policies and the results achieved in the indicated period. Biopolitics and Education: relations from discursitiy about health at school. This paper aims to discuss the relations between biopolicits and education from the agency theories produced by the discursive practices about health on the scolhar context. The paper is based on: 1) literature consulting that, refering to the history of brazilian education, shows the insertion of the practices of health at school; 2) results from a master's degree research that intented to understand the mediation of the interaction of a discussion grouo about health, at a school from Fortaleza, on the participant's postion about the chosen subjetcs. Thus, it is discussed how the agency theories produced by practices of health at the school evidence the link between disciplinary and biopolitical mechanism that aim to regulate the life of juvenile sections. This article is devoted to providing an extensive overview of the reception of Michel Foucault’s ideas in the Brazilian educational research, through the results of an investigation on the academic production based on Foucault in 52 educational journals, from 1990 to 2014. Relying on a strategy of addressing to the documents able to renounce judging the uses of the thinker’s ideas, 401 articles suggesting an appropriation of Foucault’s theorization as a working mode were selected and, then, analyzed together. At the end of the article, some reflections about current limits and future possibilities of Foucauldian studies in Brazilian education are presented.
