Herein, we report anomalous glucose (Glc)-responsive gelation/solation in 3-aminophenylboronic acid-modified hyaluronic acid. With 5-20 mM Glc, gelation occurred, resulting in the formation of crosslinks via Glc, which could reversibly bind to the two boronic acid sites. Mass production of green hydrogen via water electrolysis requires advancements in the performance of electrocatalysts, especially for the oxygen evolution reaction. In this feature article, we highlight how epitaxial nickelates act as model systems to identify atomic-level composition-structure-property-activity relationships, capture dynamic changes under operating conditions, and reveal reaction and failure mechanisms. These insights guide advanced electrocatalyst design with tailored functionality and superior performance. We conclude with an outlook for future developments via operando characterization and multilayer electrocatalyst design.

In this paper, we provide experimental evidence to indicate that the polyanionic Mo132O372 cage with a hydrophobic inner nanospace has a unique capability to participate in anion-pi interactions by showing a preference for electron-deficient mono-substituted benzenes over non-electron-deficient guests in inclusion.

For the first time, we demonstrate a Ti-MOF (Ti-metal organic framework) single-crystal featuring an intracrystal macro-microporous hierarchy (Hier-NTU-9) by a vapor-assisted polymer-templated method. This Hier-NTU-9 possesses macropores (100-1000 nm) derived from polymer templates and enhanced transport ability of bulky molecules, exhibiting almost double the desulfurization activity compared to the conventional NTU-9.

Population behavior based on quorum sensing communication is a key property of living microorganisms. Here, we show quorum sensing behavior in an artificial cell population consisting of giant lipid vesicles loaded with sender-receiver machinery (enzymes and responsive biomolecules). Our system allows the examination of the collective output based on cell density, fuel concentration and proximity, which are important factors controlling natural quorum sensing behavior.

G4-specific ligands targeting BAZ2B G4s could significantly down-regulate the BAZ2B expression and relieve mitochondrial dysfunction. Therefore, this work may provide a new way of rescuing mitochondrial dysfunction in AD by targeting G4s in a specific ageing epigenetic regulator promoter.
