The article presents the American Chemical Society's ethical guidelines for editors, authors, manuscript reviewers and other persons engaged in the publication of chemical research and scientific journals. It is the obligation of the editor to give unbiased consideration to all manuscripts offered for publication while it is the primary obligation of the author to present an accurate account of the research performed. It is the responsibility of the manuscript reviewer to judge the quality of the manuscript in an objective manner while it is the obligation of the scientist publishing outside the scientific literature to be accurate and unbiased in reporting observations.

The article reports that the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Analytical Chemistry (DAC) has partnered with Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy, a Pennsylvania-based not-for-profit educational corporation, in holding the Pittcon 2007 Conference and Exposition to be held in Chicago, Illinois. According to DAC chairperson Laurie Locascio, Pittcon is a good venue to reach the members of ACS since Pittcon is a big meeting for analytical chemists. The partnership between the two groups will be a 1-year trial. DAC will hold several symposia at Pittcon, which will happen from February 25-March 2 and March 25-29.
