The HIDC2− anion serves as a bridging ligand to link the CdII atoms into a two-dimensional network.

The title compound, [Cu(NCS)2(C6H16N2)]n, is a thio­cyanate-bridged polynuclear copper(II) complex. The CuII atom is five-coordinate in a square-pyramidal geometry, with two N atoms of the N,N-diethyl­ethane-1,2-diamine ligand and two N atoms from two thio­cyanate ligands defining the basal plane, and one S atom of another thio­cyanate ligand occupying the apical position. The [Cu(NCS)2(C6H16N2)] units are linked by bridging thio­cyanate ligands, forming chains running along the a axis.

The title compound, [ZnBr2(C12H16Cl2N2O)], is a mononuclear ZnII complex. The ZnII ion is four-coordinated in a tetra­hedral geometry by one Schiff base ligand and by two Br atoms. In the crystal structure, mol­ecules are linked through N—H⋯Br, C—H⋯Br and C—H⋯O inter­molecular hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to the ab plane.

In the title coordination polymer, [Zn(C5H2N2O4)(H2O)]n, each ZnII atom is six-coordinated by one N atom [Zn—N = 2.250 (7) A] and four O atoms [Zn—O = 2.289 (6)–2.435 (6) A] from three different HIDC ligands (H3IDC = imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid), and one water mol­ecule [Zn—O = 2.311 (6) A] in a highly distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal structure, a three-dimensional supra­molecular network is constructed via hydrogen-bonding inter­actions involving the water mol­ecules, uncoordinated imidazole N atom and carboxyl­ate O atoms.

In the title complex, [Zn(C8H5O3)2(H2O)2]·H2O, the Zn atom exhibits a distorted tetra­hedral coordination environment defined by two carboxylate O atoms and two water mol­ecules. The coordinated and uncoordinated water mol­ecules participate in a three-dimensional supra­molecular network of O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The Zn atom in the title complex, [Zn(C8H5O3)2(C12H8N2)(H2O)], is coordinated by two O atoms of formyl­benzoate carboxyl­ate groups, two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and one water mol­ecule, giving rise to a square-pyramidal coordination geometry. Adjacent complex mol­ecules are linked into a one-dimensional chain structure via π–π stacking inter­actions, with centroid–centroid distances of 3.531 (3) and 3.664 (3) A.

In the title compound, [Co(CH3OH)4(H2O)2]SO4, the CoII atom and S atom lie on special positions on a twofold rotation axis. The CoII ion is six-coordinated by four O atoms of methanol mol­ecules and two water mol­ecules in a distorted octa­hedral geometry. The cations and anions are linked by hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra­molecular network.

In the title complex, {[Ni(C16H10O4)(C12H8N2)(H2O)]·H2O}n, the NiII ion is in a distorted octa­hedral geometry and coordinated by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, three carboxylate O atoms of two different bpea2− ligands and one water mol­ecule. The [Ni(phen)H2O] units are connected by two different 4,4′-(ethene-1,2-di­yl)dibenzoate (bpea2−) bridges, forming a one-dimensional zigzag chain structure. One bpea2− ligand coordinates to Ni in a bis-monodentate fashion, while the other acts as a bis-bidentate chelate.

In the title coordination polymer, [Co(IDA)Cl]n (IDA− is the imidazolyl-1,3-diyldiacetate anion, C7H7N2O4), each Co2+ cation has an octa­hedral geometry, defined by four O atoms from four different IDA− anions and two Cl− anions. The IDA− anion serves as a bridging ligand to link the Co2+ cations into a two-dimensional layer structure. The Co atom lies on a centre of symmetry. The Cl atom and one CH group of the imidazole ring lie on twofold rotation axes.

The title complex, [Cd(4-FBA)2(H2O)3]·3.5H2O (4-FBA− is the 4-formyl­benzoate monoanion, C8H5O3), is a neutral mononuclear mol­ecule consisting of a CdII atom, two 4-FBA− ligands and three coordinated water mol­ecules, together with three and a half uncoord­inated water mol­ecules. One uncoordinated water O atom lies on a twofold rotation axis. The CdII atom displays a distorted penta­gonal-bipyramidal geometry, defined by four carboxylate O atoms of two different 4-FBA− groups and three water mol­ecules. A three-dimensional supra­molecular network is formed by inter­molecular hydrogen bonds.

In the title complex, [Mn(C4O4)(C12H8N2)(H2O)2]n, each MnII ion is octa­hedrally coordinated by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, two carboxylate O atoms of different acetyl­enedicarboxyl­ate (ace2−) ligands and two coordinated water mol­ecules, and the octa­hedral units are connected by ace2− bridges, which adopt a bis-monodentate coordination mode, to form a one-dimensional structure along the [101] direction. A three-dimensional supra­molecular architecture is constructed via hydrogen-bond and π–π inter­actions.

The Ba atom in the title complex, [Ba(C8H5O3)2(H2O)7], is nine-coordinated by two formyl O atoms and seven water mol­ecules. A mirror plane bis­ects the mol­ecule, with the Ba and three water O atoms lying on the plane. O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link mol­ecules into a three-dimensional network.

In the title coordination polymer, [Cd(C5H2N2O4)(C5H5N)]n, the CdII atom exists in a penta­gonal–bipyramidal environment that has two N atoms and four O atoms from three different imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl­ate ligands, and an N atom from a pyridine mol­ecule. The Cd atoms are linked by the imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl­ate ligands to give rise to a three-dimensional open framework with channels.

In the title complex, [Co(C4O4)(C12H8N2)(H2O)2]n, the CoII atom exhibits a slightly distorted octa­hedral coordination geometry involving two N atoms from 1,10-phenanthroline, two O atoms from two acetyl­enedicarboxyl­ate (ace2−) dianions and two water O atoms. The ace2− ligand acts in a bis-monodentate mode to connect two adjacent CoII atoms, forming chains along the b axis. A three-dimensional supra­molecular architecture is constructed via O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π–π inter­actions.

In the title complex, [Mg(H2O)6](C5H3N2O4)2·2H2O, the asymmetric unit comprises one [Mg(H2O)6]2+ divalent cation, two 5-carb­oxy-1H-imidazole-4-carboxyl­ate monoanions and two uncoordinated water mol­ecules. The MgII atom is coordinated by six water mol­ecules in an octa­hedral configuration. A three-dimensional supra­molecular architecture is formed via hydrogen-bond inter­actions.

In the title compound, [Cd(C7H7N2O4)2]n, C7H7N2O4− zwitterions link Cd2+ cations into a network of [Cd(C7H7N2O4)2]n sheets. The carboxyl­ate arms of the ligand chelate to the metal, which shows square-anti­prismatic coordination. The Cd2+ ion occupies a special position 2 site symmetry. The crystals were found to be twinned.

In the title compound, [Co4(C5HN2O4)4(C10H8N2)4]·16H2O, each 1-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl­ate trianion μ-bridges two Co(2,2′-bipyridine) units into a centrosymmetric tetra­nuclear mol­ecule. The two symmetry-independent Co atoms show a cis-octa­hedral coordination.

During experiments aimed at the crystal growth of tetra­potassium dodeca­tungstogermanate, K4[GeW12O40].xH2O, the title compound, dipotassium sodium hydrogen dodeca­tungstogermanate hepta­hydrate, K2NaH[GeW12O40]·7H2O, (I), was obtained serendipitously. The [GeW12O40]4− units in (I) are inter­connected by K+ cations to establish a three-dimensional network, with large channels running along the c axis. Disordered Na+ cations and water mol­ecules reside on the outside of these channels, leaving empty pores with a diameter of ca 9.2 A. The heteropolyoxoanion is of the Keggin-type, with a central Ge atom situated on a position with 222 symmetry.

In the title coordination polymer, [Ca(2-OPA)2(H2O)2]n [2-OPA− is 2-oxo-1,2-di­hydro­pyridine-1-acetate, C7H6NO3], the Ca atom is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from four 2-OPA− ligands and two water mol­ecules, and displays a dodecahedral coordination geometry. Each 2-OPA− ligand bridges two adjacent Ca atoms, forming a chain along the a-axis direction. The Ca⋯Ca separation within the polymer is 4.1022 (8) A. A two-dimensional supramolecular framework is further constructed by hydrogen bonds and weak π–π stacking interactions.

The CdII atom has distorted pentagonal bipyramidal coord­ination geometry in the coordination polymer [Cd(TDA)(Him)2(H2O)]n [where TDA2− is the thio­phene-2,5-dicarboxyl­ate dianion (C6H2O4S2−) and Him is imidazole (C3H4N2)]. The cadmium ion is bound by four carboxylate O atoms from two independent TDA2− groups, two N atoms from two different imidazole ligands, and one water mol­ecule. The carboxyl­ate groups bind in bidentate mode to the Cd center, forming a linear chain structure such that the closest Cd⋯Cd distance is 10.577 (6) A. The polymeric chains are connected via hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking inter­actions into a three-dimensional network.

In the title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Cu(tdzdta)(phen)(H2O)]n [where tdzdta2− is the 1,3,4-thia­diazole-2,5-diyldithio­diacetate dianion (C6H4N2O4S32−) and phen is 1,10-phenanthroline (C12H8N2)], the CuII atom displays an elongated square-pyramidal coordination geometry with the base capped by one very long semicoordinate Cu—Ocarbox­ylate bond [2.842 (2) A]. The CuII ions are bridged by tdzdta2− groups, resulting in a one-dimensional chain structure. The intra­chain Cu⋯Cu separation is 9.112 (4) A. Furthermore, the chains are linked into a three-dimensional supramolecular network via hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking inter­actions.

In the title complex, [Cd2(C9H6O5)2(C7H6N2)4(H2O)2]·2H2O, the CdII atoms are linked by two 3-carboxy­phenoxy­acetate groups into a centrosymmetric dimer. Each CdII atom displays a distorted octa­hedral coordination geometry, with three carboxylate O atoms from different 3-carboxy­phenoxy­acetate groups, two N atoms from two benzimidazole co-ligands and one water mol­ecule. Inter­molecular hydrogen bonding leads to a two-dimensional supramolecular network.

In the title mononuclear complex, [Cu(C14H11O3)2(C5H5N)2(C2H6O)2], the Cu atom has a distorted octa­hedral environment, formed by the N atoms of two pyridine mol­ecules, carboxylate O atoms belonging to two 2-hydr­oxy-2,2-diphenyl­acetate ligands and O atoms of two ethanol mol­ecules. The mol­ecule of the complex occupies a special position on a twofold axis, which passes through the Cu atom as well as the N and para-C atoms of each of the two pyridine ligands. One crystallographically independent inter­molecular hydrogen bond, involving the OH group of the hydroxy­diphenyl­acetate ligand and a carbonyl O atom of another acetate ligand of a neighbouring complex, is responsible for the formation of infinite chains running along the a axis of the crystal structure.

The crystal structure of the title complex, [Co(C9H7O5)2(C10H8N2)2(H2O)2]·4H2O or [Co(4-CPOAH)2(4,4′-bipy)2(H2O)2]·4H2O (4,4′-bipy is 4,4′-bipyridine and 4-CPOAH− is the 4-carboxy­phenoxy­acetate monoanion), consists of two independent mononuclear mol­ecules that inter­act through the uncoordinated water mol­ecules. The CoII atoms lie on inversion centers and display an octa­hedral geometry defined by two oxyacetate O atoms of 4-CPOAH− groups, two N atoms of 4,4′-bipy ligands and two water mol­ecules. A three-dimensional supramolecular network structure is formed through hydrogen-bonding inter­actions.

The title compound, (C5H9N2)2(H3O)2[Mo8O26]·2C2H6O, consists of centrosymmetric β-Mo8O264− anions, 3,5-dimethyl­pyrazolium cations, H3O+ cations and ethanol solvent mol­ecules, linked through hydrogen bonding into a two-dimensional network.

The title mol­ecule, [Co2(C8H7O2)4(C12H8N2)2(H2O)], is a dinuclear CoII complex which is located on a twofold symmetry axis. Each CoII ion is six-coordinated by three O atoms of different phenyl­acetate ligands, two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and one O atom of a water mol­ecule, giving a distorted octa­hedral geometry. The two CoII atoms are bridged by two phenyl­acetate groups and the water mol­ecule lying on the twofold axis. The Co⋯Co distance is 3.553 (2) A. A one-dimensional supramolecular chain is constructed by π–π stacking inter­actions between adjacent 1,10-phenanthroline mol­ecules.

In the title coordination polymer, [Zn(C9H6O5)(C8H12N2)]n, the ZnII atom is surrounded by two chelating 3-carboxyl­atophenoxy­acetate (3-CPOA) dianions and one 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand. Adjacent ZnII atoms are bridged by 3-CPOA to form a zigzag chain structure. The polymeric chains are connected via π–π stacking inter­actions.

In the title complex, [Mn(C9H7O5)(C10H8N2)(H2O)3](C9H7O5)·H2O or [Mn(3-CPOAH−)(2,2′-bipy)(H2O)3](3-CPOAH−)·H2O (where 3-CPOAH− is the 3-carboxy­phenoxy­acetate monoanion and 2,2′-bipy is 2,2′-bipyridine), the MnII ion has a distorted octa­hedral geometry involving one O atom of the 3-CPOAH− group, two N atoms of the 2,2′-bipy ligand and three water mol­ecules. In the mononuclear title compound, [La(NO3)3(C5H5NO)2(H2O)2], the LaIII atom is ten-coordinate, with a coordination polyhedron made up of the O atoms of two 4-pyridone ligands, six O atoms of three O,O′-chelating nitrate groups and two water mol­ecules, the polyhedron approximating a dodeca­hedron. The mol­ecule lies on a twofold rotation axis. A three-dimensional network structure is formed by hydrogen-bonding and π–π stacking inter­actions.

In the title one-dimensional polymer, {[Zn(3-CPOA)(C3H4N2)2]·3H2O}n (3-CPOA2− is the 3-carboxyl­atophenoxy­acetate dianion, C9H6O5), the Zn atom shows tetra­hedral coordination, as it is linked to two N atoms from two imidazole mol­ecules and two carboxyl­ate O atoms from two different 3-CPOA2− groups. Adjacent Zn atoms are linked by 3-CPOA2− ligands into a helical chain. The chains are linked into a three-dimensional network by hydrogen bonds.

The cystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C10H8N2)(H2O)4]n[Mn(C9H6O5)2(H2O)2]n·2nH2O, is an unusual example of a compound displaying separated chain motifs for both the cationic and anionic portions. The cations are bridged into chains by the N-heterocycle, while the anions are bridged by pairs of dicarboxyl­ate groups. In the cationic chain, the Mn atom and the N-heterocycle lie on centers of inversion. The cationic and anionic chains inter­act via a three-dimensional network of O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which involve the uncoordinated water mol­ecules.

The dinuclear title complex, [Ag2(NO3)2(3-PyOH)4]·2H2O (3-PyOH is 3-hydroxy­pyridine, C5H5NO), situated across a crystallographic inversion centre, can be described as a dimeric structure, in which two [Ag(3-PyOH)2] groups are held together by the Ag⋯Ag inter­action [3.317 (1) A]. Each Ag atom is two-coordinate and exists in an approximately linear geometry. The two NO3− ions inter­act with the AgI atoms in a bridging mode through very weak Ag⋯O inter­actions [Ag⋯O = 2.862 (2) and 2.877 (2) A]. A three-dimensional supramolecular framework is formed by O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

In the cation of the title compound, C20H26N22+·2Cl−·CH4O, there is an approximate twofold rotation axis. All the four chiral centers are in the S configuration. All three six-membered rings in the central part of the cation adopt a boat conformation. Both chloride anions and the O atom in the solvent mol­ecule form hydrogen bonds with the cation, resulting in a chain along [010].

In the mononuclear title complex, [Ag(NO3)(3-PyOH)2] (3-PyOH = 3-hydroxy­pyridine, C5H5NO), the AgI atom shows a linear geometry defined by two N atoms of the 3-PyOH ligands, and the NO3− anion inter­acts with the AgI atom in a chelating mode through very weak Ag⋯O bonds. A three-dimensional supramolecular framework is formed by both hydrogen bonds and π–π inter­actions.

The MgII ion and the 1,4-BDOA2− ligand in the title coordination polymer, [Mg(1,4-BDOA)(CH3OH)2]n (where 1,4-BDOA2− is the p-phenyl­enedioxy­diacetate dianion, C10H8O62−), lie on inversion centers. The MgII center has an octa­hedral coordination geometry defined by four carbox­yl O atoms from four different 1,4-BDOA2− ligands and two hydroxy O atoms from two methanol mol­ecules. The MgII atoms are bridged by 1,4-BDOA2− ligands, leading to a three-dimensional infinite network structure.

In the title coordination polymer, [Cd(4-CPOA)(H2O)3]n (where 4-CPOA2− is the 4-carboxyl­ato­phenoxy­acetate dianion, C9H6O5), the CdII ion is seven-coordinate, involving four O atoms of two different 4-CPOA2− ligands and three water mol­ecules, arranged in a pentagonal–bipyramidal geometry. Adjacent CdII ions are linked by the 4-CPOA2− groups in bidentate mode, giving rise to a zigzag chain with a closest Cd⋯Cd distance of 10.310 (5) A. The chains are further linked by O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds to form a supramolecular three-dimensional network.

In the title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Cd(μ-DPIA)2(H2O)]n (DPIA− is the 4,5-di­phenyl­imidazole-1-acetate monoanion, C17H13N2O2), each CdII atom exists in a pentagonal–bipyramidal coordination geometry, defined by four O atoms and two N atoms from two DPIA− ligands [Cd—O = 2.389 (4)–2.455 (4) A and Cd—N = 2.362 (5)–2.372 (5) A] and one water mol­ecule [Cd—O(water) = 2.313 (2) A]. Adjacent CdII ions are bridged by DPIA− groups, forming an infinite chain structure. The Cd⋯Cd separation within the polymer is 7.650 (3) A. The structure is stabilized by weak hydrogen-bonding interactions.

In the title coordination polymer, [Mn(4-CPOA)(2,2′-bipy)(H2O)]n [where 4-CPOA2− is 4-carboxyl­ato­phenoxy­acetate (C9H6O5) and 2,2′-bipy is 2,2′-bi­pyridine (C10H8N2)], each MnII ion displays a distorted octahedral coordination configuration, defined by three carboxyl O atoms from two different 4-CPOA2− groups, two N atoms from the 2,2′-bi­pyridine ligand and one water mol­ecule. Adjacent MnII ions are linked by carboxyl­ate groups into a one-dimensional chain structure with a shortest Mn⋯Mn distance of 9.771 (3) A. A two-dimensional supramolecular network is constructed through O—H⋯O intermolecular hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions.

In the title coordination polymer, [Cu(1,4-BDOA)(2,2′-bipy)(H2O)]n (where 1,4-BDOA2− is benzene-1,4-dioxy­acetate, C10H8O6, and 2,2′-bipy is 2,2′-bipyridine, C10H8N2), each CuII atom is six-coordinate and displays a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with the basal plane capped by one very long semicoordinate Cu—O bond of 2.920 (3) A. Adjacent CuII ions are bridged by carboxyl­ate groups, resulting in a one-dimensional chain structure with a shortest Cu⋯Cu distance of 13.484 (3) A. Furthermore, these chains are linked through hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking inter­actions to form a supramolecular network.

The reaction of cadmium nitrate with 4-(carboxy­methoxy)­phenyl­sulfanyl­acetic acid in the presence of phenanthroline at a pH of 6 affords the salt, [Cd(C10H9O5S)(C12H8N2)2](C10H9O5S)·2H2O. The Cd atom in the cation is chelated by two phenanthroline units and one carboxyl­ate from the monoanionic ligand in a distorted octahedral geometry. The coordinated monoanion shows disorder which results in a 50:50 mixture of 4-(carboxy­methoxy)­phenyl­sulfanyl­acetate and 4-(carboxy­methyl­sulfanyl)­phenyl­oxy­acetate coordinated to the cadmium. The cation and uncoordinated anion interact to form a linear chain.

In the title compound, [Cd(C9H6O5)(C3H4N2)(H2O)2]·3H2O, the carboxyl­ato­phenoxy­acetate dianion links the water- and imidazole-coordinated Cd atoms into a zigzag chain that runs along the c axis of the monoclinic unit cell; the chelation by the carboxyl­ate arms leads to a seven-coordinate pentagonal–bipyramidal geometry for the Cd atom. The chains are linked into a three-dimensional network by hydrogen bonds.

The title complex, [La(C6H4NO2)(H2O)7](C10H6O6S2), consists of hepta­aqua­(isonicotinato)­lanthanum(III) cations and 1,5-naphthalene­di­sulfonate dianions. The LaIII atom is nine-coordinate, involving two carboxyl O atoms from one isonicotinate group and seven water mol­ecules. The cations and anions are linked by O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional supramolecular framework.

The Ba atom in the title compound, poly­[[di­aqua­barium(II)]-μ6-1,5-naphthalene­disulfonato], [Ba(C10H6S2O6)(H2O)2]n, lies on a special position of site symmetry 2 and the dianion on an inversion centre. The Ba atom interacts with the O atoms of six different dianionic groups in the three-dimensional network and exhibits a square antiprismatic coordin­ation.

The VIV atom in the title compound, [V(C18H12N2O4)2]·CH2Cl2·0.5C6H14, which crystallizes as a di­chloro­methane hexane hemisolvate, exists in a trigonal prismatic geometry. The hexane mol­ecule lies across an inversion center and both solvent mol­ecules are disordered.

The CoII atom in the title coordination polymer, [Co(C9H6O5)(C12H8N2)(H2O)]n, displays a distorted octahedral geometry defined by three carboxyl O atoms from two independent 4-carboxy­phenoxy­acetate groups, two N atoms from one 1,10-phenanthroline mol­ecule and one water mol­ecule. The CoII atoms are bridged by carboxyl­ate groups in monodentate and bidentate modes, forming a chain structure. Adjacent polymeric chains are connected via hydrogen-bond interactions into a double-chain structure. Furthermore, these chains are stacked through π–π interactions to construct a two-dimensional supramolecular network.

The title complex, {[Sr(C7H5O6S)2(H2O)4]·2H2O}n, exists as a ladder chain of SrII ions connected by 3-carboxy-4-hydroxy­benzene­sulfonate anions through μ2-sulfonate and carboxyl groups, and solvent water mol­ecules, forming a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded framework. The SrII ion exhibits a distorted square antiprismatic coordination geometry defined by three O atoms of two sulfonate groups, one carboxyl O and four water mol­ecules. The 3-carboxy-4-hydroxy­benzene­sulfonate anions show two types of coordin­ation to strontium, viz. μ2-sulfonate + monodentate-carboxyl bridging and monodentate sulfonate–O coordination.
