Graphical abstract: An oligo(N,O-donor) fluorescent probe SASwith high selectivity for Al3+in DMF: H2O (9:1, V/V) Tris–HCl solution was designed and synthesized. The addition of Al3+excites the yellow fluorescence of SAS, which produces a strong fluorescence emission peak at 539 nm. The probe SASwas highly selective and sensitive for the detection of Al3+with the lowest detection limit of 6.61 × 10–8. Fluorescence titration and DFT calculations verified the recognition mechanism, and the chelating fluorescence generated by the coordination of metal ions Al3+enhanced the CHEF effect.

This paper presents a $G_{m}$ -C integrator-implanted DC servo loop (GMCI2-DSL) and a bulk-driven ripple reduction loop (BD-RRL) for bio-potential readout analog-front-end (AFE) amplifier. The proposed bio-potential readout AFE amplifier employs the GMCI2-DSL and BD-RRL to achieve low noise and significant total harmonic distortion (THD) with small ripple amplitude. A prototype has been taped out using a 0.18- $\mu \text{m}$ standard CMOS technology, and the core circuit occupies 880 $\mu \text{m}\,\,\times $ 630 $\mu \text{m}$ . The mid-band gain is about 40 dB with a 1.3-V supply voltage, and the chip’s quiescent power is 10.8 $\mu \text{W}$ . The measured results show that the input-referred noise density is 26 nV/ $\surd $ Hz, and the input-referred integrated noise in the range from 0.5 Hz to 500 Hz is 0.93 $\mu V_{rms}$ . The measured THD of a 5- $\text{m}V_{pp}$ input sinusoidal signal at 5.1 Hz is −64.3 dB without any input offset. The amplitude of residue ripple is achieved as 197.8 $\mu \text{V}$ around chopping frequency ( $f_{ch}$ ) by ripple suppression. High-fidelity and real-time electrocardiogram (ECG) signals are acquired.

Maintaining the geometrical stability of hot filament is a challenge in chemical vapor deposition (CVD) over a larger area since deformation varies the distance between the filament and the substrate and, consequently, destroys the uniformity of diamond deposition. Herein, Ta filament is straightened with a tensile stress ranging from 4.40 to 11 MPa to suppress deformation, and the stability during the CVD process of diamond film is evaluated. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X‐ray are further utilized to investigate the morphological and structural evolutions of Ta filament. Results show that straightened Ta filament maintains geometrical stability without any visible deformation or breakage and uniform deposition of diamond film is obtained through Ta filament undergone a transformation from Ta to Ta2C and then to TaC. At high deposition pressure (7 kPa) or a low concentration of methane (1%), the straightened Ta filament goes through a moderate transformation, which implies the cracks caused by rough transformation can be avoided, thus prolonging the lifetime of straightened Ta filament. These works provide significant guidelines for the large‐scale manufacture of diamond deposition. Straightening Ta filament with a certain tension is an effective method to maintain filament geometry and increase its stability. Only when the tensile stress is higher than 4.40 MPa, geometrical deformation caused by the residual stress is prevented. However, when a tensile stress (≈12.14 MPa) is adopted, Ta filament breaks and presents an interesting bamboo‐like shape.

A half-conjugate polydentate Salamo–Salen hybrid ligand, H5L, containing two unique N2O2pockets was first designed so that these metal ions in the complexes appear in different coordination modes. Two heterohexanuclear 3d–s double-helical cluster complexes, [Zn4Ca2L2(μ1-OAc)2(EtOH)2]·2EtOH (1; EtOH = ethanol) and [Zn4Sr2L2(μ2-OAc)2(MeOH)2]·2CH2Cl2(2; MeOH = methanol), are reported that are formed through the reaction of H5Lwith zinc(II) and calcium(II) acetate or strontium(II) acetate, respectively. IR spectral analysis of the two complexes showed the existence of monodentate- and bidentate-coordinated acetate ions. The fluorescence properties of the ligand and its two heterohexanuclear complexes were explored in MeOH and water solutions, separately. In addition, theoretical calculations (density functional theory, interaction region indicator, and bond order) were performed to further understand the formation of a single-molecular double helix and the electron distribution characteristics of the two complexes.

The calculated results of [%C], [%Si], [%P] in the hot metal, and the slag compositions are in good agreement with the experimental results. When the heat balance temperature model is applied, the P prediction results are better rather than those predicted by using the fixed temperatures. The calculated phosphorus distribution ratio increases with the refining time, while the phosphate capacity shows a downward trend due to the decrease in slag basicity and the increase in temperature. The rate-controlling step of the dephosphorization is determined to be the mixed control of the mass transfer of P in the hot metal and P2O5in the slag. As the initial Si concentration is increased, the interfacial oxygen activity required for starting the dephosphorization is increased, leading to the delay of the dephosphorization start time.

This paper presents a concurrent dual-band radar system for noncontact tracking of vital signs (e.g., respiration and heartbeat), and indoor short-range localization. The proposed sensor, which has been achieved with our own customized concurrent dual-band subsystems, operates at 1.67 and 2.06 GHz synchronously. Based on the Doppler principle, tiny vital signs are obtained by analysis of spectrum of the signals received at each individual frequency band. Moreover, the location of a target is estimated based on the phase difference between these two closely spaced frequencies. The azimuth information is obtained by beam scanning. Combining the results of range and azimuth information allows the radar system to plot two-dimensional maps. As a result, the proposed radar is capable of monitoring human’s life activities and tracking the location of individuals continuously. System-level experiments were carried out to reveal the versatile capability of the life activity monitoring system.

Utilizing supramolecular assembly frameworks as soft materials to investigate the dissolution-recrystallization dynamics presents a viable approach for converting Cu(II) coordination polymer macromolecules into dimeric small molecules. We have designed and synthesized four Cu(II) coordination polymers and four coordination dimers, representing macromolecular polymers and oligomeric small molecules, respectively. Interestingly, the introduction of nitrate anions into the macromolecular polymer system can facilitate the conversion to oligomeric small molecules. This process involves dissolution-recrystallization structural transformation, altering the coordination mode of Cu(II) in the primary building units during the transformation. Moreover, this process entails the disassembly and reformation of the soft supramolecular framework, driven by the dynamic bond exchange of secondary bonds formed by halogen substituents X (F, Cl, Br, and I). These secondary bonds undergo dynamic exchange during the reformation of the supramolecular framework after disassembly. Based on the semiconductor properties of Cu(II) coordination polymers, we compared the electronic properties to evaluate the impact of halogen-substituted secondary bonds on the low-bandgap polymeric semiconductor macromolecules and small molecules of Cu(II).

Acetylcholine (Ach) is the key anti-inflammatory transmitter in the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. In this study, critically ill patients treated with early enteral nutrition (EEN) were observed to explore whether EEN affected Ach levels and inflammation.

Abstract High entropy alloys (HEAs) are of great interest in the community of materials science and engineering due to their unique phase structure. They are constructed with five or more principal alloying elements in equimolar or near-equimolar ratio. Therefore, HEAs can derive their performance from multiple principal elements rather than a single element. In this work, solid-state cold spraying (CS) was applied for the first time to produce FeCoNiCrMn HEA coating. The experimental results confirm that CS can be used to produce a thick HEA coating with low porosity. As a low-temperature deposition process, CS completely retained the HEA phase structure in the coating without any phase transformation. The characterization also reveals that the grains in the CSed HEA coating had experienced significant refinement as compared to those in the as-received HEA powder due the occurrence of dynamic recrystallization at the highly deformed interparticle region. Due to the increased dislocation density and grain boundaries, CSed HEA coating was much harder than the as-received powder. The tribological study shows that the CSed FeCoNiCrMn HEA coating resulted in lower wear rate than laser cladded HEA coatings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Depolymerization of polymeric proanthocyanidins (PPCs) in grape seeds into oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), especially the dimers, has important academic significance and practical value. Reaction conditions including nucleophilic reagent/PPC mass ratio, HCl concentration, reaction time, and temperature were systematically optimized by central composite design to maximize the yield of the dimeric product B2 or B1. The yield of B2 reached 3.35 mg mL–1under the conditions of (−)-epicatechin/PPC mass ratio 2.8, HCl concentration 0.06 mol, reaction time 16 min and temperature 36 °C, and that of B1 reached 3.64 mg mL–1under the conditions of (+)-catechin/PPC mass ratio 2.8, HCl concentration 0.07 mol, reaction time 17 min, and temperature 34 °C. Overall, this study has provided theoretical guidance and a practical approach to improvethe reaction process and economic value of proanthocyanidins in grape seed proanthocyanidin extract.

An unprecedented synthesis of valuable benzofuran-3(2H)-one scaffolds with a quaternary center was developed via Rh/Co relay catalyzed C–H functionalization/annulation of N-aryloxyacetamides with propiolic acids in moderate to good yields. The reaction features the simultaneous construction of the benzofuran motif containing a C2 quaternary center and a C3 carbonyl group. The preliminary mechanism study verified that the O atom of C3 carbonyl group originates from molecular oxygen.

α-Trichloromethylation of tertiary amines with trimethyl(trichloromethyl)silane by oxidative coupling, using DDQ as an oxidant, has been realized. The reaction is instantaneous, is scalable, and tolerates a broad range of functional groups and heteroarenes. The trichloromethylated products can be easily converted into β,β-dichloroamines, enamines, and α-amino acid esters under operationally simple conditions. This methodology provides an efficient alternative to the poisonous cyanation reactions for the synthesis of carboxylic acid and their derivatives.

ABSTRACTCelery is one of the most widely cultivated vegetables worldwide. Boron (B), zinc (Zn), and copper (Cu) are essential microelements for plant growth with Cu also important in controlling fungal diseases. But little is known about the combined effects of B, Zn, and Cu fertilizers on celery. A pot experiment was conducted during two growing seasons (2014–2015 and 2015–2016) using a novel foliar fertilizer: a copper-based-zinc-boron foliar fertilizer (Cu-ZnB) based on the Bordeaux mixture (BDM). Celeries were sprayed with water (the control); BDM; 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 g L−1copper foliar fertilizer (CFF1, CFF2, and CFF3), and with 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 g L−1the Cu-ZnB (Cu-ZnB1, Cu-ZnB2, and Cu-ZnB3). During both seasons, Cu-ZnB1 increased celery yield and decreased disease index, compared with control and BDM treatments. Application of Cu-ZnB1 also increased vitamin C content while reducing nitrate content of celery compared with BDM and increased leaf Zn and B concentration compared with the control, BDM, and CFF1 treatments. Furthermore, Leaf Cu concentration in Cu-ZnB1 treatment was lower by 76.9% compared with BDM. Spraying Cu-ZnB1 also significantly increased SOD, POD, and CAT activities, while decreasing MDA content of functional leaves. By applying Cu-ZnB during 2015–2\016, soil available Cu concentration was reduced by 24.9–42.2%, compared with BDM. Hence, applying 1.0 g L−1Cu-ZnB to celery is recommended for enhancing plant nutritional quality and yield; simultaneously, it reduces the levels of Cu in the soil and disease index of celery.

An efficient synthesis of thiazolidine-2,4,5-triimine derivatives was developed via Ni-catalyzed oxidative double isocyanide insertion to thioureas under air conditions, in which thioureas play three roles as a substrate, a ligand, and overcoming isocyanide polymerization. The reaction is featured by employing a low-cost and low loading Ni(acac)2catalyst, without any additives, and high atom economy. This is the first example to directly apply a Ni(II) catalyst in oxidative double isocyanide insertion reactions.

Well-crystalline flower-like Ce-doped ZnO were synthesized by facile and low-cost hydrothermal method. The prepared samples were characterized by a variety of characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FT-IR), UV-visible spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) combined with energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDX), to study the crystal structure, optical properties, surface morphology and chemical composition. It was observed from XRD and FT-IR results that synthesized powder had hexagonal wurtzite structure. The photocatalytic activities of the prepared samples were evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) and Rhodamine B (RhB) under UV light irradiation. The results showed that the Ce-doped ZnO photocatalyst with 0.5% cerium exhibited highest photocatalytic activity compared to other samples. The enhanced photocatalytic activity could be attributed to inhibition of the electron-hole pair’s recombination.

In this study, The Zn-Cr nanocomposite was synthesized using the hydrothermal method show good adsorption property. The as-prepared LDHs absorbent were characterized by Powder X-ray Diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), BET surface area, and simultaneously UV-visible spectrophotometer. The nanocomposites of Zn-Cr layered double hydroxides, the strong adsorptive adsorbents for anions. Zn-Cr LDHs with various Zn/Cr molar ratios for 2, 3, 4. The nanocomposites quickly adsorbed the anionic dyes such as methyl orange (MO) without the light illumination. The effects of Zn/Cr molar ratio on the adsorption performance of Zn-Cr LDHs were investigated.

Through the self‐assembly of a symmetric bis(salamo)‐type tetraoxime ligand H3L with Zn(OAc)2·2H2O, a novel dinuclear zinc(II) complex [Zn2(L)(OCH3)] was synthesized and characterized structurally. A novel dinuclear Zn(II) complex with the chemical formula [Zn2(L)(OCH3)] has been synthesized by a bis(salamo)‐type tetraoxime ligand based on 3‐bromo‐5‐chlorosalicylicaldehyde, and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–vis, and fluorescent spectra, and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. All the Zn(II) atoms are pentacoordinated by N2O2donor atoms from the (L)3−unit and one oxygen atom from one μ2‐methoxyl group. The Zn(II) (Zn1 and Zn4) atoms have distorted square pyramidal geometries (τ1= 0.458, τ4= 0.388), whereas the Zn2 and Zn3 atoms adopt trigonal bipyramidal (τ2= 0.675, τ3= 0.550) geometries. The Zn(II) complex is self‐assembled by intermolecular CH···O interactions to form an infinite three‐dimensional supramolecular structure. Interestingly, the intermolecular CH···π interactions in the Zn(II) complex is involved not in the formation of three‐dimensional structures but rather in the formation of the 0D dimer structure. Meanwhile, the optical properties of the Zn(II) complex were also measured and are discussed.

A discrete heterotrinuclear complex [{Ni2LDy(OAc)3(CH3OH)}2] · 2CH3OH · 3CH2Cl2, with a naphthalenediol-based acyclic bis(salamo) ligand H4L, has been synthesized and structurally characterized using elemental analyses, IR, UV/Vis and fluorescence spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure shows two crystallographically independent but chemically identical molecules (molecules Iand II). All the Ni(II) atoms are hexa-coordinated with slightly distorted octahedral geometries. The central Dy atoms are nona-coordinated with slightly distorted tricapped trigonal prism geometries. An infinite 3D supramolecular structure is formed via intermolecular hydrogen bonding and C–H…π interactions.

A trinuclear Co(II) complex, [{CoL(C4H9OH)}2-(OAc)2Co]·C3H7NO, was synthesized by the reaction of a Salamo-type chelating ligand (H2L=4,42′-dinitro-2,2′-[1,2-ethylenedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol) with cobalt(II) acetate tetrahydrate in n-butanol, and characterized by elemental analyses, X-ray crystallography, FT-IR and UV/Vis spectra. In the Co(II) complex, there are two ligand L2−units, two μ2-acetate ions, two coordinated n-butanol molecules and one non-coordinated N,N-dimethylformamide molecule. The Co(II) atoms in the structure of the Co(II) complex adopt slightly distorted octahedra geometries. Furthermore, through intermolecular C–H···O, O–H···O and C–H···π interactions, infinite layer-like, plane-like and 3D supramolecular structures are constructed. The fluorescence and electrochemical properties of the Co(II) complex have also been investigated.

A novel magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) coupled with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was explored for aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and zearalenone (ZON) simultaneous determination. This method was based on a newly explored extractant of Fe3O4nanoparticle-filled amino-modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Fe3O4-MWCNTs-NH2) composite, which was sensitive to analytes with structure of multi-aromatic rings and abundant hydrogen bond acceptors, based on the extraction mechanism of π–π EDA and hydrogen-bonding interactions. The morphology, structure and magnetic properties of the extractant were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). Adsorption isotherms and kinetics for two mycotoxins were investigated and proved to be the best fit by Dubinin–Astakhov and pseudo-second-order models. Critical MSPE parameters, including solution pH, extraction time, salt addition and temperature, were investigated and optimized and the proposed analytical method was validated. Subsequently, the method was successfully applied for AFB1 and ZON analysis from wheat flour samples. The proposed method proved to be an excellent green analysis with a score of 89 in analytical Eco-Scale evaluation. It also has good linearities in the range of 1.0–100.0 ng g−1with linear coefficients (r) above 0.99, desirable recoveries ranging from 88.8% to 96.0%, satisfactory precision with relative standard deviation (RSD) in the range of 2.1–2.8%, and low limits of detection (LODs) of 0.15 and 0.24 ng g−1for AFB1 and ZON, respectively. This novel magnetic-extractant-based green MSPE-HPLC method has great potential for mycotoxin analysis from complex matrix samples.

The tetranuclear Zn(II) complex, [{ZnL(μ-OAc)Zn(CH3CH2CH2OH)}2], derived from an asymmetrical Salamo-type chelate ligand H3L (5-methoxy-6′-hydroxy-2,2′-[ethanedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, X-ray crystallography, UV/Vis and fluorescence spectra. The structure is made up of four Zn(II) atoms, μ2-coordinated acetate ions and two coordinated n-propanol molecules, and forms an infinite one-dimensional supramolecular structure via intermolecular C–H···π interactions. The four Zn(II) atoms are penta-coordinated and show slightly distorted trigonal bipyramidal and tetragonal pyramidal symmetries.

A new dinuclear Ni(II) complex, [{Ni(L)(C5H5N)}2], has been synthesized with 4-chloro-4′,6′-dibromo-2,2′-[ethylenedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol (H2L), and characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR, UV/Vis, molar conductance and X-ray crystallographic analysis. Each Ni(II) atom is located at a N2O2coordination site of a completely deprotonated (L)2−unit. Two μ-phenoxo oxygen atoms from two [Ni(L)] units and two pyridine nitrogen atoms coordinate with two Ni(II) atoms. The two hexa-coordinated Ni(II) atoms have slightly distorted octahedral geometries. The μ-phenoxo bridges play important roles in assembling Ni2+and (L)2−units. This 2:2 (Ni2+:(L)2−) structure is different from that of other Salamo-type Ni(II) complexes reported earlier.

Booster immunizations and breakthrough infections can elicit severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Omicron subvariant neutralizing activity. However, the durability of the neutralization response is unknown. We characterize the sensitivity of BA.1, BA.2, BA.2.75, BA.4/BA.5, BF.7, BQ.1.1, and XBB against neutralizing antibodies from vaccination, hybrid immunity, and breakthrough infections 4–6 months after vaccination and infection. We show that a two-dose CoronaVac or a third-dose ZF2001 booster elicits limited neutralization against Omicron subvariants 6 months after vaccination. Hybrid immunity as well as Delta, BA.1, and BA.2 breakthrough infections induce long-term persistence of the antibody response, and over 70% of sera neutralize BA.1, BA.2, BA.4/BA.5, and BF.7. However, BQ.1.1 and XBB, followed by BA.2.75, are more resistant to neutralization, with neutralizing titer reductions of ∼9- to 41-fold, ∼16- to 63-fold, and ∼4- to 25-fold, respectively. These data highlight additional vaccination in CoronaVac- or ZF2001-vaccinated individuals and provide insight into the durability of neutralization against Omicron subvariants.

A flexible polydentate Salamo-Salen-Salamo hybrid ligand H4L was designed and synthesized, which has rich pockets (salamo and salen pockets) so that it may have fascinating coordination patterns with transition metal(II) ions. Four multinuclear transition metal(II) complexes, novel butterfly-shaped homotetranuclear [Ni4(L)(μ1-OAc)2(μ1,3-OAc)2(H2O)0.5(CH3CH2OH)3.5]·4CH3CH2OH (1), helical homotrinuclear [Zn3(L)(μ1-OAc)2]·2CH3CH2OH (2), double-helical homotrinuclear [Cu2(H2L)2]·2CH3CN (3), and mononuclear [Ni(H2L)]·1.5CH3COCH3(4), have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The effects of different anions [OAc–and (O2C5H7)2–] on the complexation behavior of H4L with transition metal(II) ions were studied by UV–vis spectrophotometry. The fluorescent properties of the four complexes were studied with zebrafish, which are expected to be a potential light-emitting material. Ultimately, interaction region indicator (IRI) valuations, Hirshfeld surface analyses, density functional theory (DFT & TD-DFT), electrostatic potential analyses (ESP), and simulations were carried out to further demonstrate the weak interactions and electronic properties of the free ligand and its four complexes.

The 2.5D Cf/ZrO2 composites were fabricated by precursor infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) with ZrO2 precursor slurry as an impregnation liquid and 2.5D carbon preform as a framework. The effect of cycles of infiltration-pyrolysis on mechanical properties and microstructure of composites was investigated. The results showed that with the increase of cycles of infiltration-pyrolysis the flexural strength and relative density of as-prepared 2.5D Cf/ZrO2 composites increased. After 15 cycles of infiltration-pyrolysis, the density and flexural strength of as-prepared composites were 2.53±0.04g/cm3 and 73.2±2.2MPa respectively. In addition, the specimens with higher densification can transfer load efficiently between ZrO2 and carbon fiber, result in good mechanical properties of composites.
