Abstract

Callicarpa macrophylla Vahl. • Two new phenylethanoid glycosides were isolated from the Callicarpa macrophylla Vahl.. • Antioxidant activity were evaluated for the isolated phenylethanoid glycosides. • Compounds 2, 4, 6 and 7 showed stronger antioxidant effects by DPPH assay. Investigation of dried whole herb of Callicarpa macrophylla Vahl. resulted in the isolation of two new phenylethanoid glycosides, macrophylloside E (1), macrophylloside F (2), together with eight known phenylethanoid glycosides (3 - 10). Their structures were established by extensive spectroscopic methods. In addition, all phenylethanoid glycosides (1–10) were evaluated for their antioxidant activity by DPPH assay and showed high to moderate effect (IC 50 from 2.72 to 38.65 μM). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
