Inflation is a concern for both businesses and people, and it is affected by many factors. In this paper, we tried to touch on the effect of the Russia - Ukraine war on inflation. The research questions are: "Is inflation higher after the war began?", "Is the inflation higher in Romania after the war began?" and "Is the inflation higher in countries who are near to the war?" The data analyzed in this paper was extracted from Eurostat for 34 countries, for the period of 2017-2022. The conclusion is that inflation was higher in all analyzed countries after the war started and was more substantial for Romania and for the countries that were near the conflict. This paper can contribute to the literature on the effect of the war on inflation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

EVIDENCE gaps ,ARTIFICIAL satellite launching ,NEWS agencies ,NATIONAL interest ,MASS media - Abstract
Purpose--This article discusses the recent deal struck between Kim and Putin in their September 2023 summit and compares the media attention garnered by the various parts of the agreement, in relation to their effectiveness in serving state objectives. Also, the publicity received by the aforementioned parts is contrasted with the feasibility of opposing or counteracting these parts. Design/methodology/approach--Using national interest as a key international relations motivator, the facets of the recent Kim-Putin agreement are evaluated against their sustained real-world impact. Additionally, policy relevance is bought up by comparing the media worthiness of the deal components with the practicality of state action in defeating or resisting such illegal aspects of DPRK-Russia cooperation. Findings--Research and analysis indicates that the flashiest exchange in the Kim-Putin deal, that of ammunition for satellite launching assistance, is the least consequential and most feasible to counteract or defeat. Conversely, the other relatively more inconspicuous pillars of Russo-DPRK collaboration, like mutual diplomatic support and the dispatching of DPRK labor to Russia, produce significant benefit to both sides while being hard to discourage and penalize. Practical Implications--This paper demonstrates that the mass media should not be counted upon for serious policy-based analysis because sensationalism tends to cloud realistic judgement. In many cases, it's the unobtrusive aspects of legislation or treaties that are most influential. In-depth, multidimensional research is always needed for fair, impartial analysis. Originality, Value--The vast majority of news agencies covered the ammunition for satellite assistance portion of the Kim-Putin deal with relatively less recently written about Russian bound North Korean workers or Russo-DPRK diplomatic collusion due to closer ties. This paper helps cover such a gap in the research literature while providing policy solutions where applicable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

POVERTY reduction ,RUSSIAN invasion of Ukraine, 2022- ,HUMAN Development Index ,SOCIAL unrest ,SUPPLY chain disruptions ,TWENTY-first century - Abstract
The world in the 21st century confronts numerous challenges of sluggish post COVID-19 recovery, disruption in supply chains in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, steep rise in the prices of food and fuel, accelerating climate change and rising social unrest. The unprecedented decline in the value of the Human Development Index for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022 in a large number of countries, along with the halting and even reversal of progress on poverty reduction and other priorities of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 agenda, demonstrates the deep adverse impact that the crises have had on people's lives. This situation of a poly-crisis, or entangled crises in multiple global systems, deeply undermines human flourishing. This paper examines the nature of the poly-crisis and discusses its identified drivers in terms of (a)inequality, (b)climate change, Anthropocene and overshoot, (c) increasing complexity, and (d) hyperglobalization and uniformity. It deals with the conundrums facing development policy in terms of (a) managing uncertainty, (b) managing national and global goals, and (c) balancing short-term and long-term goals. The paper suggests a four-fold strategy focusing on the four 'R's, viz, Recovery, Resilience, Responsiveness, and Responsibility to cope with the situation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has had a profound impact on the European and thus Hungarian natural gas market, though substantial changes had begun to occur in Europe from 2021, as evidenced by the wholesale price surges for natural gas that year. This paper examines (1) the demand- and supply-side developments in the Hungarian natural gas market before and after the outbreak of Russia's war on Ukraine; (2) how the Hungarian government has intervened in the natural gas sector from February 2022 onwards; and (3) how these measures fit in with pre-war Hungarian energy strategy documents and the energy policies carried out. Secondary analysis of related statistics is combined with documentary analysis of relevant materials. We find that Hungary did not believe it could wean itself off Russian gas, and thus enhanced cooperation with Russia and bought even more Russian gas. There have been only small steps towards gas import source diversification, and quite late, with priority given to affordability. Demand-side measures, prompted by supply and financial constraints, proved to be relatively successful. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research investigates the correlation between FinTech innovation and the index of renewable energy volatility from May 1, 2019, to October 28, 2022, by utilizing cutting-edge multiple wavelet analysis (MWA) techniques, including coherency and gain of partial wavelets. FinTech innovation and the green energy sector exhibit multiple coherencies. These coherencies suggest that three cycles, spanning from January 2020 to June 2020, December 2020 to April 2021, and January 2022 to May 2022, were focused on the high-frequency spectrum (3–68 days). Meanwhile, the other cycles were focused on low frequencies (69–130 days), which coexisted between June 2019 and January 2021 and January 2022 and October 2022. Green bonds and FinTech innovation's partial coherency indicate that modifications to the green bond markets caused shifts in FinTech innovation between June and November of 2019. FinTech innovation is in sync with green bonds pushing from December 2021 to October 2022. The partial consistency of FinTech innovation and sustainable energy demonstrates that both metrics align with the current FinTech innovation cycle, pushing from May 2019 to August 2019 and from December 2020 to July 2021, and both indicators are in sync with ARKF pushing. We also demonstrate how unexpected events like the Ukraine-Russia conflict and the COVID-19 epidemic affect these dynamic connectednesses. Hence, our paper calls for policy designs that promote the role of FinTech development in stabilizing the renewable energy market. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Scholars have been debating the geopolitical importance of the strengthening China-Russia relationship for some time, noting that the relationship does not constitute a full alliance, but still might have great significance for world politics. This paper aims to improve on this scholarship by examining the evolution of China-Russia cooperation as it relates to the future of North Korea, especially in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Design, Methodology, Approach: This scholarship represents a methodological advance over most previous discussions of the China-Russia relationship. It embraces the historical development of this relationship, probes structural arrangements in relationship to regional stability, and also draws upon extensive Russian and Chinese language data sets which constitute the material for a “discourse analysis,” to achieve a deeper understanding of this relationship as it pertains to the Korean Peninsula. Findings: Overall, this study documents substantial cooperation between Beijing and Moscow with respect to Korean affairs. While some disagreements between China and Russia do exist in this sphere, the main implication of these developments is the trend toward a hardening of the bipolar structure in Northeast Asia, informed by the growing influence of patriotic and nationalistic elite groups within both China and Russia. However, the study points out a paradox in that this hardening of bipolarity could actually help to stabilize the spiraling tensions that have surrounded North Korea in recent decades. Practical Implications: This paper may help students and policymakers alike in Northeast Asia evaluate the significance of the China-Russia quasi-alliance. Overall, this paper supports the conclusion that the dangers of the China-Russia quasi-alliance need not be exaggerated. Originality Value: This paper is innovative insofar as it gives balanced attention to both China’s and Russia’s discourses and policies toward North Korea and evaluates the influence of Moscow-Beijing’s growing cooperation in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war, as it may impact the future of North Korea and the wider region. THIS PAPER EXPLORES HOW REVISIONIST AUTOCRATIC GOVERNMENTS USE GLOBAL BROADCASTING NEWS CHANNELS TO COUNTER THE SO-CALLED WESTERN HEGEMONY NARRATIVE. IT FOCUSES ON HOW AND WHY THE SPANISH-SPEAKING WORLD WAS TARGETED BY INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTERS FOUNDED BY AUTOCRATIC AND REVISIONIST GOVERNMENTS AND HOW THE WAR WAGED BY THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AGAINST UKRAINE IS PRESENTED IN THREE SO-CALLED 'ANTI-HEGEMONY' MEDIA NETWORKS: CHINA GLOBAL TELEVISION NETWORK EN ESPAÑOL (CGTN), TELESUR AND HISPAN TV. BY USING QUALITATIVE RESEARCH METHODS SUCH AS CONTENT ANALYSIS AND CHRONOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF NEWS COVERING THE RUSSIAN INVASION OF UKRAINE PRESENTED BY TELESUR, HISPAN TV AND CGTN IN SPANISH SINCE 24 FEBRUARY 2022, THIS PAPER ARGUES THAT ALL THREE MEDIA CHANNELS PROMOTE IN DIFFERENT SHADES A KREMLIN-BASED NARRATIVE. THE ARTICLE FURTHER DEBATES THE PROFOUND FOREIGN POLICY IMPLICATIONS OF THIS TACIT MEDIA ALLIANCE AND SUPPORTS THE CONCLUSION THAT THE CURRENT WAR WAGED BY RUSSIA IN UKRAINE IS USED IN DIFFERENT WAYS BY REVISIONIST AND ASSERTIVE GOVERNMENTS TO PROMOTE THEIR OWN REVISIONIST AGENDAS BOTH DOMESTICALLY AND ABROAD. This article focuses on the changing nature of Russia-Turkey energy trade relations. The main argument of the article is that climate change, as well as EU institutions and environmental protection regulations, have been decisive in the long-term transformation of bilateral natural gas relations. The EU favors competitive market structures to combat climate change, and the EU Green Deal sets ambitious targets for renewable energy consumption. These variables establish grounds for legitimacy among EU members in the face of Russian dominance of the EU energy market. However, as discussed in this paper, the Russian government's main strategy to counter this opposition from the EU side is to circumvent the EU's institutional arrangements through its relations with Turkey. The final point to be discussed in this paper is the impact of the EU energy and environment policies on changes in Russian perceptions of Turkey. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, triggered a substantial wave of emigration from Russia, driven by safety concerns, political dissent, and economic instability. While some host countries have adopted welcoming policies for the new Russian emigrés, others have imposed stricter regulations citing security concerns and shared difficult pasts. Despite these measures, many Russians abroad remain in a legal gray area, frequently resorting to visa runs to maintain their stay, and facing discrimination in some contexts; hereby, there is a pressing need for nuanced legal and social responses from the host countries. To approach this task, the paper applies the concept 'new minorities' to Russian nationals who left their homeland after the start of invasion of Ukraine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The outbreak of conflict between Russia and Ukraine on February 23, 2022, was a huge shock, and it quickly became the dominant topic of conversation on social media. Our research is based on Twitter conversations about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This paper intends to monitor and analyze the Twitter conversation on the continuing war in Ukraine using natural language processing techniques such as word cloud analysis, sentiment analysis, and visualization. The major goal is to acquire insight into Twitter users' shifting thoughts and opinions on various parts of the conflict over time. The study's findings have important implications for politicians, journalists, and social media users who want to follow and understand how online communities' attitudes on global issues change. We hope that this study will help to gain a deeper knowledge of how social media works in affecting public debate and how it might be used to gain insights into public opinion on crucial global issues. In this work logistic regression, K-nearest neighbours and decision tree algorithm are used to analyse the sentiments and got classification accuracy of 94.58%, 88.89% and 90.45% respectively. ENERGY consumption ,POWER resources ,INTERNAL combustion engines ,RUSSIAN invasion of Ukraine, 2022- ,GASOLINE supply - Abstract
Faced with the growing demand for energy worldwide, fossil fuels, like any other resource available in finite quantities, are in the process of disappearing since their production cannot increase indefinitely. On the other hand, Russia's war with Ukraine is driving up fossil fuel prices, which in turn is impacting price increases at several levels. Added to this is the need to limit global warming, which is largely due to CO2 emissions from the consumption of fossil fuels. Faced with all these constraints, it is essential that the world looks to other sources of energy and that Morocco, in particular, can limit its energy dependence on fossil fuel imports by ensuring an internal energy supply; the best solution appears to be the development of biofuel and in particular, biodiesel. Due to their high energy content and compatibility with gasoline supply infrastructure, biodiesel may be utilized in motor vehicles. To achieve the optimal utilization of biodiesel in internal combustion engines, it is first required to choose the best feedstock that will provide both increased engine performance and economic viability. In this perspective, this paper provides a summary of the climate and energy situation in the world and in Morocco in particular, and then addresses the interest of biodiesel and its production. After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, psychogenic disorders are observed in a significant part of the military servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who have suffered as a result of participation in the armed conflict, as well as among the civilian population who have become participants or witnesses of traumatic events. The practice of organizing psychological assistance in Ukraine has shown that systematic psychological assistance is provided only to those who have been injured and are staying in military hospitals. The purpose of the academic paper lies in identifying the main features of the selection and application of modern approaches to diagnostics, therapy, psychotherapy and rehabilitation in PTSD cases based on the results of the analysis of the viewpoints of scientists regarding the selection and application of various research approaches to the process of providing assistance in the case of revealing such disorder, as well as and the study of practical aspects of the effectiveness of working with persons with PTSD. In the process of conducting the research, an analytical and bibliographic method has been used in order to study the scientific literature on the issues of diagnosing and providing assistance for PTSD patients and a questionnaire survey of specialists in the provision of psychological assistance. This paper explores the role that identity and ideology play in Armenia's position on Russia in the context of the Ukrainian war. Armenia's stance is striking for its traditional solidarity with Russia, even in the face of highly controversial actions. It would be easy to fall prey to reductionism to structural constraints and argue that Armenia's vast economic dependence on Russia dictates its foreign policy. While there is no denying that Armenia's huge economic, energy, and security dependence on Russia has significantly influenced the country's pro-Russian foreign policy choices, the position is more complex. Fertile ground for the role in Armenian political thinking of Russia as a "savior" has been prepared by the hostile images ascribed to Azerbaijan and Turkey. In addition, Ukraine's close relationships with Armenia's traditional enemies have exacerbated the situation, widening the gap between "Us" and "Them." It is, therefore, not surprising that both society and the government in Armenia have been silent on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The paper concludes that a combination of material and conceptual forces has shaped Armenia's pro-Russian stance in the context of the war in Ukraine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose. The study identifies the effects of the small local networks of renewable energy generation on the economy. It defines the potential and necessary conditions to establish value creation networks, or distributed production systems, based on participant cooperation. Design. The paper examines increasing opportunities to guarantee sustainable economic development. At the same time, the challenges of digital technologies also create serious threats to the community’s social cohesion. The monopolization of digital platform marketplaces and the emergence of “platform capitalism” follow the growth of the platform business model. The proprietors of the core of digital platforms own disproportionate market dominance. Findings. The emergence of “platform capitalism” and “platform cooperativism” models discussed in the contingent upon certain socio-cultural conditions. It has proven that cooperative digital platforms are particularly vital during the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine and the post-war reconstruction period. Originality. A proposed cooperative digital platform-based model develops a microgrid ecosystem to produce renewable energy. Digital platform cooperatives exemplified the benefits of geographic or specialty localization (specialization) with the activities’ globalization. In this paper, I examine online self-publishing literary platforms in Russia from a historical and legislative perspective. Using a mixed methods approach, including digital ethnography, field diary, phenomenological interviews, I trace how the Russian Internet, and particularly literary self-publishing platforms, transformed from a free space without legislation or geographical borders to a limited digital arena controlled by the Russian state. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, this transformation was complete: the boundaries of the Russian literary Internet coincided with the geographical borders of Russia. The notion of Runet as a community of Russian-speaking people was broken by regulative acts of the Russian government and a war. Literary and online self-publishing practices, contrary to Soviet samizdat, depend on state legislation due to their commercial nature. Regulatory acts limit authors’ capacities to express their thoughts and feelings in literary work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to analyze the influence of the 19th-century Slavophile ideas like samobytnost (originality, uniqueness, distinctiveness) or sobornost (a common spiritual bond uniting members of a community) on Andreï Makine's novels The Life of an Unknown Man and The Woman Who Waited. Although he has lived in France since 1987 and writes exclusively in French, mainly for a French readership, Russia remains one of his great obsessions, which he poetically transfigures, in a Dostoyevskyan manner, into a world of both ugliness and beauty. Beyond the sordid and unbearable social reality, Makine suggests that there is a profound, authentic Russia, not in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but in the secluded and forgotten villages, where people like Vera and Volski, the main characters of the two novels, live organically in peaceful communities, keeping intact traditional Russian spiritual values. Since 2020, two major crisis impacted the global environment: the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. Both had a major impact on international trade and on the evolution of oil prices which has a direct effect on the logistics industry. The scope of our paper is to investigate the effects of oil price evolution on logistics activities, especially transport. Costs of shipment represent an important component of final prices for consumer products and they can influence the general rate of inflation. This is a major concern among government officials in all countries, as high inflation rates can have negative effects on national economies. Our paper is focused on analyzing price trends on each mode of transport, but also prices for integrated logistics services. The results of our analysis offer insight on the logistic market trends and can be useful to professionals from companies, but also for academics interested in this field and consumers worldwide concerned about prices going up. Russia is China's main log supplier and has implemented a series of log export control policies. This paper uses breakpoint regression to analyse the impact of the increase in the import price of logs under the Russian log export control policy on the market price of timber products in China. The results show that under the control policy, the increase in log import prices had a significant positive impact on the timber product market when April 2008, January 2010 and January 2019 were the breakpoints. Due to the lag effects in price transmission, the impact on China's timber product market was not reflected when July 2007 and January 2018 were the breakpoints. Based on the research conclusions, this paper puts forward some suggestions from the perspective of China's log supply security. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Addressing climate change and protecting the environment have become the key global challenges and priorities and requires a whole-of-society approach. Many countries are increasing their commitments to meet the Paris Agreement's goals, introducing green budgeting among them. The goal of the paper is to understand how public participation in public budgeting with green objectives is being effectuated in the Russian Federation, and to look at what governments can do to facilitate it. The author explores the relevance of environmental problems for Russians, and analyses public participation in environmental policy-making with a focus on budgeting in Russia. The paper provides examples of green participatory budgeting practices of global interest, highlights the potential of participatory budgeting encouraging pro-environmental behaviour, potentially enriching the repertoire of climate-friendly actions and fostering the growing interest in green budgeting. The author concludes with recommendations on how to improve public participation in relation to greening the budget process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

34. So Similar, Yet So Different: Russia and Turkey in the Western Balkans -- The Case of Serbia.

WESTERN countries ,INTERNATIONAL relations - Abstract
In recent years, Russia and Turkey have been among non-Western powers that have been more assertive in their foreign policies in the Western Balkans. Naturally, this creates the need to identify the key similarities and differences between these two geopolitical players. By using the case of Serbia, the pivotal country of the Western Balkans and a country whose foreign policy was largely influenced by the idea of hedging and engaging non-Western players, one can determine key similarities and differences between these two powers. This paper states two major similarities between these two powers and one major difference. The first similarity is that both Russia and Turkey are acting based on the same permissive environment of a regional power vacuum, the environment in which the EU's leverage has decreased and in which countries like Serbia feel emboldened to hedge their bets and diversify partnerships. The second similarity is that although the popular explanation is to stress to powers' ethnic and religious ties with the Balkans, Slavic and Orthodox ties in case of Russia and Islam in case of Turkey, or even as the continuation of old imperial traditions, the two countries are guided by strategic pragmatism. The difference between the two powers is that Russia can be defined as a status quo power as it aims to act as a spoiler perpetuating the current state of political dysfunctions; Turkey is not a status quo player as it does not oppose the region's membership in Western institutions as long as its interests are respected. The study of educational procrastination and alienation updates in the context of the rapid dynamics of the educational environment (an increase in the share of independent and distance learning, using new information technologies, etc.). This paper aims to establish the nature of the dependence of procrastination and alienation of university students. The paper presents the results of a survey of 110 students at Vyatka State University (Kirov) using several methods. Research results show that more than half of the students have a high level of procrastination; the majority (56%) of this group are inclined to the absolute alienation of study. There are high rates of alienation of students in learning, interpersonal relations, and self-attitude. The dominant forms of alienation were impotence, vegetation, and adventurism. The main reasons for procrastination are a challenge, "bad" perfectionism, disorganization, impulsivity, and reduced self-control. The main conclusion is the positive relation between procrastination and alienation among university students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper focuses on the nature and role of professional-pedagogical education and its main feature, biprofessionalism. There are two main models in organizing the training of teachers: (1) according to the type of mono-specialty based on secondary and vocational education (for undergraduate and graduate levels of professional-pedagogical universities and faculties); and (2) according to the additive model (for graduates in various fields receiving additional pedagogical education necessary to work as a teacher in educational organizations of vocational education). The paper aims to analyze the current state of the professional-pedagogical education system in Russia, identify the main problems, and substantiate ways to solve them under the current trends in developing society and the vocational education system. The main research methods are the following: (1) analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature on the history and current state of professional-pedagogical education; and (2) generalization and systematization of pedagogical experience. The research has found the primary problems that hinder developing the professional-pedagogical education system (terminological, organizational, managerial, socio-economic, methodological, etc.). Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine more than one million Russian citizens have left Russia. This Russian migration is a political protest against Vladimir Putin’s regime — people are leaving due to their opposition to the war, persecution by authorities, and fear of mobilization — and are writing about this migration online. Despite fulfilling the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees (1951 Refugee Convention or the Geneva Convention of 28 July 1951) conditions, these Russian migrants have not yet received international recognition, and most live in total uncertainty in poor countries in the South Caucasus and Central Asia with temporary visas and no possibility of entering Europe. This paper has two purposes. The first is to describe this group of migrants that challenges the definition of who is a refugee, in the context of this specific military conflict. The second purpose is to examine digital narratives published by these Russian migrants, characterized by a sense of living in uncertainty [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

RUSSIA-Turkey relations ,RUSSIAN invasion of Ukraine, 2022- ,EIGHTEENTH century - Abstract
This paper aims to offer a general analysis of relations between Turkey and Russia since the late eighteenth century. rather than new or original information. It proposes a model of the relationship based on three broad patterns: (i) a multipolar system with shifting alliances (1798-1841): (ii) alliance within a bipolar system (1841-78 and 1952-91): (iii) phases of uncertain détente (1878-1914, 1921-39 and 1991 to the present). In discussing the most recent period, it concludes that the Russian invasion of the Ukraine and the continuing war raises serious doubts about the viability of current Turkish strategy. ISLAM ,NATIONALISM ,PUBLIC support ,ETHICS ,MUSLIM identity ,PATRIOTISM - Abstract
How does nationalism interact with non-state institutions to develop as both substantive and symbolic identity? This paper tracks the project of Russian nationalism in the post-Soviet period and its ambivalent operationalization of Islam as both constitutive of and alien to the Russian nation. State and popular actors have emphasized the role of religion in the multi-ethnic and multi-confessional state to mobilize public support, frame policy, and integrate as well as exclude portions of the population. The Muslim Spiritual Boards of Russia, one of a set of quasicorporatist institutions that regulate religious life among constituent communities and negotiate the status of religion between the state and public, play a direct role in responding to and crafting narratives around competing conceptions of the Russian nation. This project aims to embed the Spiritual Boards in the context of the wider non-state social sphere, shifting popular pressures, and the priorities of the state. In particular, it focuses on Moscow; a case that provides the greatest degree of analytical leverage across these factors and is uniquely critical as the center of the state and major religious institutions, while representative of broader shifts in in-migration and popular attitudes. I make a preliminary argument that the Spiritual Boards increasingly construct Islam as a source of patriotic morals and values, in line with other quasi-corporatist institutions, while channeling growing nationalist grievances toward the specter of 'foreign' Islam. The paper will use archival documents, publications and speeches, and ethnographic evidence to show how the Moscow-based Spiritual Boards produce Islam and Russian identity from their founding in 1992 to the present. The paper discusses migration and informal employment in the Russian Federation. It considers the characteristics of migration, the legal and regulatory situation of migrant workers with regards to informal employment. First, the paper reveals the current migration inflows into Russia with focus on the migrants' employability. This gives the ground for seeing informal employment from the supply side of migrant workers. Second, the paper reviews the migration legislation, employment laws as the push factors into informal employment. This part allows us to explain the informal work from the demand side (employers). Finally, the paper estimates the probability of working informally for the migrant workers. In the conclusion, we developed possible policy recommendations for decreasing irregular migration and informal employment for migrant workers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Transition from the Soviet type of economy to a new market system showed the necessity in reforms at the secondary school level. Based on a literature review, this paper aims to reveal how the thinking about teaching economics has changed over the past three decades (1991-2021), and how this has affected teaching economics as a school subject in the Post-Soviet countries. The article illustrates these with the cases of Russia and Kazakhstan. For this paper, a narrative literature review methodology was adopted and scanned studies included only those published in English and Russian. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HUMANITARIAN law ,GREAT powers (International relations) ,TREATIES - Abstract
Throughout history, especially after the Cold-War period, the Russian Federation manifested itself as a global power, engaging in many aggressive forms of warfare, ranging from conventional, to hybrid and informational. An important requirement in order to fully comprehend the legal consequences of their actions is to understand and analyze the international legal aspects, especially the International Humanitarian Law. This paper supports this initiative by raising awareness of all society members regarding the modus operandi of aggressive states that violate the International Humanitarian Law and the solutions provided by international conventions, such as the Geneva Conventions, international norms and customs. Methodologically, the qualitative research was integrated through the use of document analysis and a case study: the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The paper also presents the key differences between international human rights and international humanitarian law, a distinction which is often times confused by society at large. The evolution of international legislation regarding human rights and international humanitarian law is another aspect investigated in the study. In the end, the most important factor for protecting the civilian population is their knowledge of international legislation, as the key to halt all armed conflicts lies often in the societies' initiative and their proactive actions. ECONOMIC sanctions ,INTERNATIONAL sanctions ,GENERATING functions ,DUMMY variables ,ECONOMETRIC models - Abstract
One of the main challenges economists must face while studying economic sanctions is to simulate them in their models faithfully. It seems extremely hard to achieve without a dedicated variable that precisely imitates coercive economic measures. Thence, this short paper aims to offer a framework for the construction of economic sanction indexes. Researchers can use our multipurpose index modelling to simulate economic punishment in their econometric models. If our work is framed within the Ukrainian crisis case and European economic sanctions against Russia, the method we provide can be used in any other case study. It is a great alternative to the standard use of dummy variables that witness sanctions' implementation and withdrawal. Additionally, our proposal allows calibrating the weight attributed to each sanction depending on its type, the sanction sender's ability to apply economic pressure, and the effect of time on sanctions' effectiveness. The first part of this paper details the methodology and the mathematical formalisation of our framework. It is used to build a sanction index that simulates sanctions against Russia during the Ukrainian crisis. The second part is an empirical study that compares our index to another one from the literature. Results reveal that our new sanction index witnesses the behaviour of sanctions more precisely, which leads to a stronger explanatory power. Moreover, it enhances the statistical significance of impulse-response functions generated by our SVAR models. Consequently, the framework for sanction index construction that is proposed in this paper successfully produced a reliable index that simulates the European Union's sanction against Russia in the Ukrainian crisis case. This paper analyzes the dynamics of CO2 emissions over the last decade for a large group of 25 European countries, an issue that is at the center of the ecological transition project involving various commitments (COP21, COP26, G20 meetings, etc.). To this end, our model measures the repercussions of energy price shocks (oil, gas, coal) for carbon emissions, as well as changes in industrial production and sustainable development in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. Using annual data for 23 EU countries, together with Russia and the UK, our findings show that CO2 emissions reacted significantly to oil and coal price shocks and vary with industrial production cycles. We quantified this reaction while computing the related elasticities. Further, while a significant reduction in CO2 emissions was observed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the stepping up of investment in sustainable development and renewable energy consumption also had a negative impact on CO2 emissions. This suggests that the key driver to reducing the risk of climate change and lowering high carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions involves significant commitment to sustainable development.
