As humanity reaches the 5.0 industrial revolution, education plays a critical role in boosting the quality of human resources. This paper reports bibliometric research on emerging TiP during 1993-2022 in the educational field to analyse its development on any level of education during the last three decades. This study employed a Scopus database. The findings are that the trend of TiP publication in educational fields has tended to increase every year during the past three decades and conference paper became the most published document type, the USA is the country which produces the most publications; 'Students' being the most occurrences keyword and total link strength. The publication of the TiP is ranked to the Quartile 1, which implies that a publication with the cited performance is a publication with credibility because the publisher has a good reputation. The aim of this study is to present the possibilities of nurse education in the use of the Chat Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT) tool to support the documentation process. The success of the nursing process is based on the accuracy of nursing diagnoses, which also determine nursing interventions and nursing outcomes. Educating nurses in the use of artificial intelligence in the nursing process can significantly reduce the time nurses spend on documentation. Discussion paper. We used a case study from Train4Health in the field of preventive care to demonstrate the potential of using Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT) to educate nurses in documenting the nursing process using generative artificial intelligence. Based on the case study, we entered a description of the patient's condition into Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT) and asked questions about nursing diagnoses, nursing interventions and nursing outcomes. We further synthesized these results. In the process of educating nurses about the nursing process and nursing diagnosis, Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT) can present potential patient problems to nurses and guide them through the process from taking a medical history, setting nursing diagnoses and planning goals and interventions. Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT) returned appropriate nursing diagnoses, but these were not in line with the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association – International (NANDA-I) classification as requested. Of all the nursing diagnoses provided, only one was consistent with the most recent version of the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association – International (NANDA-I). Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT) is still not specific enough for nursing diagnoses, resulting in incorrect answers in several cases. The European Union employs soft power instruments to defend European values and norms and promote national interests. The European Union (EU), based on its diverse but at the same time united cultural, historical and educational soft power resources, attracts an international audience. Relations between the countries of Central Asia (CA) and the European Union have gone through several stages. Since 2007 the EU has implemented a strategy in Central Asia, and in June 2019, the EU adopted a new strategy, highlighting several priority points. Based on an interdisciplinary approach of system and comparative study, this paper analyses the status and perspectives of the EU's soft and smart approaches in Central Asia, and the dynamics and shortcomings of EU-CA relations, The European Union's soft and smart power policy, resources, and anticipated results are defined in its Strategy. The EU achieved some positive results in developing its soft and start power approach to Central Asia, but there are also some limitations. There are general challenges for EU-CA relations, including external factors. Deepening political, economic, cultural, educational and humanitarian the EU-CA partnership will contribute the sustainable development of Central Asia and strengthen stability in Eurasia. This paper discusses the current medical sonographer status in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The paper explores the current education, skills, job description, and challenges towards developing sonography professions and a sonographer framework. The study employed a quantitative descriptive research approach using a cross-sectional study design to collect and analyse data from sonographers in the UAE. Data was collected through a structured survey that included sections addressing demographic information, education, skills, current practices, and challenges. The data showed a relatively even distribution across different age groups, with a higher proportion falling in the 31–40 age range. Females constitute a slightly higher percentage (55.9 %) than males (44.1 %). The study found that sonographers have the necessary skills and knowledge to interpret the scan results and provide a formal report. A significant percentage of participants taught ultrasound to others and participated in research activities. The survey responses indicate difficulty in reporting sonograms. The study found that sonographers possess the necessary expertise and skills to pass on their knowledge to trainees and colleagues. The participants expressing a desire to increase their knowledge and skills indicate that sonographers recognised that continuous professional development is crucial for staying updated with advancements in the field. The participant's "Advanced Practitioners" title recommendation suggests a desire for professional recognition, career progression, and specialisations in sonography. Effective interdisciplinary collaboration is important for providing quality patient care. The paper emphasises the importance of recognising sonography as a vital healthcare profession. It aims to raise awareness about the crucial role of sonographers in patient care. • Emerging nurses must be literate in Planetary Health if they are to practice in the escalating impacts of climate change. • Adequate support (internal and external), an understanding of rationale, concept, and process, and personal belief and confidence are key factors that can influence the success of curriculum change and delivery. • Academics must utilize levers to integrate Planetary Health into the curricular as a matter of priority. Due to the escalating severity of the impact of climate change on human and ecological health and its implications for nursing practice, it is imperative that planetary health is embedded into the undergraduate nursing curriculum. This rapid review was undertaken to identify the barriers and enablers to implementing planetary health into the undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing curriculum. Databases (PubMed, Education Source, CINAHL, and Scopus) were searched for relevant studies between 2013 and 2023. Seven papers were eligible for review. The studies demonstrated that adequate knowledge, skill development, social support, a supportive organization, and access to adequate resources were required to embed changes into the curriculum. This study has identified enablers that can be leveraged to successfully integrate planetary health into the undergraduate nursing curriculum, preparing nurses who are working in a practice environment impacted by climate change. This paper combines the emerging Internet with actual student classrooms to design a PHP-framework-based web-based instruction platform, aiming to improve students' learning efficiency after class. This system uses the PHP language and integrates MVC-based ThinkPHP, Bootstrap, jQuery's $, ajax asynchronous request, art-template rendering, and other technologies. The interface of the system is simple and easy to operate, with various layout styles and display effects. Students can increase their interest in learning and improve their learning efficiency by watching the teaching videos on the website. The system summarizes a large amount of teaching resources and information to promote the structure and mode of reform in education and teaching. While the concept of online classes is not new to the rest of the world, this became a common mode of learning in Myanmar only when the COVID-19 challenges became a reality in 2020 as physical classrooms could no longer be used. When the coup d'etat was staged in 2021, education was further halted since many schools and their students did not have the resources to teach and learn online in addition to the political instability. However, online learning has been trending on social media for those who do have access to these resources. This paper will investigate the ways in which young people engage in education facing the "coup--vid" (coup + COVID-19), the motivation behind such engagement, and insights how they are benefiting from digital tools for learning. Purpose: The present study investigated experiences of traumatic perinatal events, the provision of related education, and educational needs of nurses working in the labor and delivery room (LDR). Methods: Nurses working in the LDRs of six institutions and two nurse portal sites were invited to participate in the survey, delivered on paper or online. The data were collected from October 1 to November 25, 2022. Data from 129 nurses were analyzed using frequency, the chi-square test, the Fisher exact test, the t-test, and analysis of variance. Results: Virtually all participants (98.6%) reported having experienced at least one traumatic perinatal event (dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal congenital anomalies, severe maternal or neonatal injury, stillbirth, and maternal or neonatal death) while working in the LDR. The most shocking traumatic perinatal event experienced was the maternal or neonatal death (40.3%), but 24.8% of participants did not recall ever receiving education on the topic. About 63% of participants experienced traumatic perinatal events within a year of working in the LDR. The average score for education needs regarding traumatic perinatal events was 3.67±0.37 out of 4, and participants preferred simulation education as the most effective educational method. Conclusion: Since most of the participants had experienced various traumatic perinatal events in the early stages of working in the LDR and expressed a high level of need for education on traumatic perinatal events, it is necessary to provide more effective stimulation education programs in the early period of work in the LDR. Teaching and learning programming, and especially Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), is a complicated and challenging task. Students have to comprehend various OOP concepts and utilize them for designing object-oriented programs. Various types of educational programming environments, such as microworlds and educational games, have been devised for supporting novices mainly in comprehending OOP concepts. However, such environments do not usually support students in the conceptual design of object-oriented programs of a considerable length and complexity. In this paper, we focus on a systematic mapping study (SMS) of educational programming environments for enhancing the conceptual design in OOP, which relies on modularity, abstraction and encapsulation. The research questions investigate the intended learning outcomes, the empirical evidence on the effectiveness, and the teaching/learning technologies used by educational programming environments for enhancing the conceptual design in OOP. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is frequently used to assess occupational burnout and the Epidemic-Pandemic Impacts Inventory (EPII) is a new tool for assessing pandemic impacts. This study's objective is to describe chiropractic faculty members' experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, their burnout as professional educators, and their strategies for coping with stress. A Qualtrics survey link was emailed to 73 current faculty and 10 previously employed faculty from 1 chiropractic school. The survey included 22 MBI, 31 EPII, and 2 questions about coping strategies. Faculty were given several weeks to complete the survey, were reminded via emails and meeting announcements, and were given paper surveys to increase participation. Responses were analyzed in STATA17. Forty-three faculty completed the survey (response rate = 52%). Of these, 25.8% reported testing positive for COVID-19, 30.23% reported difficulties transitioning to working from home, and 25.5% scored high on the MBI subscale for emotional exhaustion (EE) (mean 15.79, SD 13.68). Higher EE was associated with pandemic-related increases in mental health and sleep problems. Common coping strategies included self-care and social support. The majority of faculty reported neither contracting COVID-19 nor having difficulty transitioning to work from home. Average EE for participating faculty was lower than previous reports although a quarter scored high in EE, which may be associated with pandemic-related mental health and sleep problems. These results suggest chiropractic faculty might need support coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic and indicate the need for future research on burnout among faculty from other chiropractic institutions. The paper presents research on the hypothesis that by deepening their understanding of children's rights, future specialists with a pedagogical focus will significantly improve their abilities in a practical environment. The aims of the study such as the rights of the child and its place in the current educational system in Bulgaria are presented. Students from different pedagogical specialties are objects of the study. Questions from a two-part survey are described where the first part contains questions concerning the students’ awareness of children’s rights and the second part focuses on the acquired and expanded knowledge as well as its practical application. The analysis of the results shows that knowledge about children’s rights is a crucial part of the professional competencies of specialists with a pedagogical focus and has a positive influence on their abilities to teach children in a practical environment. The greater and stronger your knowledge about a subject, the more you will be able to address a new problem in that subject. In entry-level respiratory care education, incorporating research into curricula can be challenging due to the limited time to cover all necessary topics. This is also true in clinical post-graduate respiratory care practice. This paper addresses the need and the rationale for research integration into respiratory therapy education and post-graduate respiratory care practice as a continuum. Without learning the importance of being a consumer of research and being immersed in research-oriented teaching and practice, the respiratory care profession cannot provide evidence-based care to patients. Devoting resources to develop research expectations and priorities should be a joint effort of educators and leaders. This paper attempts to measure and report the extent and magnitude of tax evasion in the medical sector and to be compared with other selected human-to-human (Η2Η) life services in the Greek economy. Specific household expenditures for human (Η2Η) services for the period 2011–2017 were analysed, using data from the annual 'Household Budget Survey (HBS)' of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) and were compared with the financial administrative data from the 'Statistical Business Register (SBR)', which is updated on an annual basis with data provided by the tax authority, depending on the case-specific characteristics of each sector under study that have been taken into account in the calculations. The research showed that the participation of doctors in the phenomenon of tax evasion as a whole has been declining in recent years while other human economic activities are responsible many times over for the perpetuation and exacerbation of the phenomenon. The annual tax evasion on average for the period 2011–2017, for the medical sector, is estimated to amount to €565.6 million (0.31% of the Greek GDP – mean value of the same period), while for the 'accommodation services (hotels)' sector, it is estimated to €3.3 billion (1.84% of GDP), to €6.8 billion for the catering sector (3.76% of GDP), to €2.1 billion for the education sector (1.18% of GDP), to €87.3 million for the hairdressing/other beauty treatment services of the personal service sector and finally to €50.3 million for the funeral and related services sector. In this paper, we propose the application of strategic analysis tools to design an educational program. Findings are based on the case of the Master in Innovative Manufacturing Systems (MIMS), a unique training offer to achieve a multidisciplinary expertise in smart manufacturing, in a two-year program simulating the journey of innovation. Building on novel educational paradigms and recent developments in the area of manufacturing, the main goal of the program is to provide the European industry with outstanding experts willing, able, and trained to bring novel solutions that address relevant societal challenges. The computer vision industry has experienced a significant surge in growth, resulting in numerous promising breakthroughs in computer intelligence. The present review paper outlines the advantages and potential future implications of utilizing this technology in education. A total of 84 research publications have been thoroughly scrutinized and analyzed. The study revealed that computer vision technology integrated with a mobile application is exceptionally useful in monitoring students’ perceptions and mitigating academic dishonesty. Additionally, it facilitates the digitization of handwritten scripts for plagiarism detection and automates attendance tracking to optimize valuable classroom time. Furthermore, several potential applications of computer vision technology for educational institutions have been proposed to enhance students’ learning processes in various faculties, such as engineering, medical science, and others. Central Asia is an important region in world politics. Historical, political, natural-geographical, ethno-demographic, intellectual, economic and cultural factors of the region have made it one of the main participants in international relations. By the last quarter of the 20th century, the countries of Central Asia actively entered the world economy and international relations. The UN has played an important role in the international recognition of the countries of the region and promotion of various international initiatives. The Central Asian countries tried to show themselves in global politics as active members of the UN. The UN has become a forum for these countries to express their views, implement national, regional and international initiatives, protect their rights, and study world experience in national development. Central Asian countries and the UN are interested in mutual cooperation, and over time dynamic growth and new trends began to emerge in mutual relations. Main directions of cooperation of the Central Asian countries with the UN, the results of such cooperation and the analysis of existing problems are discussed in the paper. The article outlines the historic significance of the accession of the Republics of Central Asian region to the UN, its partnership in political, economic and social issues, global and regional initiatives of Central Asian States in the framework of the Organization. Public health emergencies, especially pandemics, need to be managed globally, and on several levels, emphasizing the importance of leadership, communication, and synchronization of measures, data, and management plans in contrast to the management of the Coronavirus-19 pandemic, which illustrated diverse strategies employed by various nations. This paper aims to review and discuss whether globalized diseases in a globalized world should be managed by globalized public health. Using a systematic literature search, followed by a non-systematic literature review, selected studies were grouped into topics, and analyzed, using content analysis to enhance the conclusive results. The results present a roadmap towards a re-envisioned framework highlighting key areas of focus: data-driven decision-making, robust technology infrastructure, global cooperation, and ongoing public health education, as part of a coordinated global response. To gain an understanding of the non-motor symptoms that individuals with PD experience. To understand what types of resources were given to individuals with PD regarding NMS. 12 question mixed-methods survey was used to collect data regarding participants with PD's self-reported experiences with and education about the NMS of PD. Attended various Rock Steady Boxing locations and online, provided the opportunity to complete the survey on paper, online, or verbally to be translated to paper. 40 participants with self-reported diagnosis of PD, at least 18 years old. This study was conducted in order to gain an understanding of the NMS that individuals with Parkinson's disease experience, as well as the educational resources provided by healthcare professionals. Participants with PD report not knowing what to expect regarding PD progression, particularly related to NMS. Healthcare providers involved in the treatment of individuals with PD need to provide education and resources regarding NMS. Participants report referrals to OT, PT, SLP and community resources helped increase knowledge and understanding of NMS. The most common NMS: fatigue (87.5%), sleep difficulties (65.0%), & memory difficulties (62.5%), 65% reported. NMS impacted daily activities with common themes of fatigue, communication difficulties, & cognitive challenges, 55% reported PD impact on social relationships. Some types of healthcare providers addressed NMS with participants more than others, but a notable gap remains 37.5% strongly or somewhat disagreed that PD education has adequately prepared them for their actual experiences and symptoms, 22.5% strongly or somewhat disagreed with feeling they have enough resources and support to face their PD as it evolves. 71% somewhat or strongly agreed that PD resources give them the motivation to engage with the community and/or with PD management, 27.5% noted a need for more education on the disease, and 20% noted a need for more community-based resources. The data revealed several patterns indicating exercise and community programs as important factors in managing Parkinson's disease; meanwhile, it also revealed the relationship of the education provided by healthcare providers. It most notably recognized patterns of varying frequencies and severities of non-motor symptoms among participants. This study provides data on first-hand experiences of individuals with PD; therefore, providing occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals with significant knowledge regarding the importance of addressing NMS. India has a high prevalence of stunting among children under five years of age, despite marginal improvement over the years. In 2019–21, 35.5 per cent of children below five years were stunted (National Family Health Survey (NFHS), 2019–21). This has been attributed to several factors including open defecation, poor maternal nutrition and food insecurity. This paper examines if the birth order of children is associated with variation in height among them, using nationally representative data from the India Human Development Survey (IHDS 2005 & 2011). The objectives of this paper are to: (i) assess the association of a child's birth order with height (ii) test if the association of birth order with height changes with the degree of son preference (iii) analyse the relationship between birth order and educational outcomes of children. Our results suggest that (i) the height-for-age z score is negatively associated with the birth order of the child (ii) the negative association of birth order with height is stronger for mothers who have a moderate or high degree of son preference, especially when children have an older brother (iii) maternal characteristics such as education could mitigate the negative relationship between birth order and height when son preference is low but not when son preference is high (iv) birth order has a negative association with the reading, writing and mathematical ability of children, especially if the child was stunted in childhood. This indicates that the fertility behaviour of families has both a direct and an indirect impact, which could influence both long term nutrition and education of children. • Birth order is negatively associated with a child's height-for age z-score. • Effects of birth order might persist in the long-term and are associated with a child's learning outcomes. • Parental preferences for an elder born son may influence the association of birth order with height-for age. • Mother's education may mitigate the negative impact of son preference for later born children. Working in the perioperative context is complex and challenging. The continual evaluation in this environment underscores the need for adaptability to technological advancements, and requires substantial allocation of resources for training and education. This study aimed to explore personality characteristics of nurse anesthetists and surgical nurses that are instrumental for sustainable employability in technologically advanced environment. Exploratory, cross-sectional survey study including nurse anesthetists and surgical nurses, both certified and in training, and a sample of the normative Dutch population. Personality characteristics were identified with the Big Five Inventory, which consisted of 60 items answered on a five-point Likert scale (strongly disagree to strongly agree). Specific personality traits were found for nurse anesthetists and surgical nurses when compared to the normative Dutch population. Traits of both nurse anesthetists and surgical nurses differed significantly on all domains of the Big Five Inventory, with the largest differences found within the dimension negative emotionally. This study highlights the role of specific personality traits in maintaining employability within the rapidly evolving and technologically advanced landscape of healthcare. It emphasizes the relationship between individual traits and professional excellence, being crucial educational strategies for overall improvement in healthcare. Drawing on findings from a qualitative study that aimed to explore the knowledge and attitudes of nurses from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds about voluntary assisted dying (VAD). The study also aimed to identify the strategies that assist nurses in their readiness and preparation for exposure to VAD. This paper reports on the educational content and strategies that could assist nurses from CALD backgrounds to be better prepared when they encounter VAD requests. Around the world, healthcare professionals have roles to play in caring for patients requesting voluntary assisted dying. Nurses, particularly those from diverse geographic and clinical settings, have voiced inadequate knowledge and understanding about voluntary assisted dying. A qualitative descriptive approach was undertaken. Data collection involved one focus group and 16 in-depth interviews. A total of 21 nurses from CALD backgrounds were recruited from one Australian state. Thematic analysis was conducted to interpret the data. Nurses identified their knowledge gaps and specified the need for education and workplace training on VAD, its legal and ethical aspects, clarity on their role, communication techniques and how VAD intersects with their practice. They suggested various teaching strategies that could prepare nurses to work safely and confidently in a clinical environment where voluntary assisted dying is an option for patients. Using the PRISMA guidelines, we conducted a systematic search in January 2023 to retrieve English records from the ProQuest, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and Web of Science databases using the keywords "skill gap," "skill mismatch," "skill shortage," "identifying or measuring," and "Industry 4.0." In total, 40 articles met our predefined inclusion criteria, and we analyzed them descriptively and qualitatively using thematic analysis and constant comparisons. We found that skill gaps certainly exist, and that concerns about growing skill gaps have been raised worldwide. Our literature review also revealed the need for a common understanding of skill gaps. Considering this, we provided a skill gap definition. Skill gaps are an extremely nuanced phenomenon, so paying careful attention to their definition and interrelating social, environmental, and technological factors when measuring them is essential. Since we found very few studies that employed different methods and perspectives to research the concept, more research is needed to map actual skill gaps, which can only be done by considering different perspectives and measuring approaches. • One of the Industry 4.0 biggest problems is a significant skill gap. • To tackle skill gap requires understanding the phenomenon of all stakeholders which is lacking. • This paper proposes a skill gap definition. • Very few studies employed different methods and perspectives to research the concept. • More multimodal and innovative research is needed to map actual skill gaps. This systematic review evaluates current literature on the impact vision impairment has on reading and literacy levels within education. Six databases were searched with inclusion criteria of trials or studies involving children who are blind or vision impaired, and impact on academic or school performance – including reading and literacy. 1262 articles were identified, with 61 papers undergoing full screening. Quality appraisal was performed using Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) and seven articles deemed eligible for inclusion. Included articles achieved a quality score of over 70 % using the CASP checklists. Direct comparison of articles was not possible due to methodological differences in assessing reading and literacy levels. All seven studies investigated aspects of reading speed, with additional measures of reading performance, such as reading reserve, comprehension, and reading accuracy. Underlying trends highlighted students with a vision impairment do not perform at same level as their normally sighted peers with respect to reading performance - in terms of speed, but not ability. Additionally, early intervention to enhance literacy skills may help improve educational outcomes. Future direction should be aimed at identifying specific obstacles to learning these students face and providing interventions to improve academic outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The impacts of climate change on planetary health are multifaceted and threaten public health gains made since World War II. Healthcare is the fifth largest global emitter of greenhouse gas emissions, demanding significant efforts to transition to an environmentally sustainable future. Addressing these issues will require collective societal action. In this regard, universities have a dual responsibility – (1) to tackle complex social, economic, and environmental challenges by championing sustainability initiatives designed to positively impact planetary health; and (2) to ensure that graduates are equipped with the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to steward planetary health towards a more sustainable future. The future nursing and midwifery workforce must be educated to mitigate the health sector's impact on the environment, advocate for action on climate change, prepare for ongoing health impacts of unpredictable climate and environmental changes, and help communities and healthcare systems become more climate resilient. To help increase nursing and midwifery educators' and students' capacity to support planetary-health related interventions, the overarching purpose of this paper is to provide a series of exemplars that illustrate sustainability initiatives used in four university-based clinical skills laboratories. These initiatives each demonstrate a commitment to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals and can be used to help embed the importance of planetary health in student learning. The recent pandemic, with its disruption to healthcare education, thrust virtual simulation into the spotlight. Virtual simulation provides opportunities for engagement and realism, and it is quickly becoming an essential part of the educator's toolkit. Adopting virtual simulation as a teaching strategy needs a thoughtful approach; simulation pedagogy needs to be applied. This paper outlines ten tips for effectively integrating virtual simulation in the curriculum. The list was compiled after a review of the literature and from the authors' years of experience developing numerous virtual simulations, teaching with these tools and researching virtual simulation with learners, faculty and administrators. The aim is to present outcome and engagement data from the initial years of the implementation of a new teaching approach in entry to practice nursing and midwifery education. The Block Model (TBM) is a teaching approach that involves studying one unit of study at a time over a four-week period, as opposed to the traditional semester model. This paper presents data revealing the impact of TBM on student engagement and overall experience in entry to practice Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery programs. The evaluation retrospectively compared key indicators pre- Block Model implementation with outcomes for nursing and midwifery students using TBM approach using standard data sets and external comparators such as the Student Experience Survey and National Employability Survey. The study presents a comparative analysis of key indicators and graduate outcomes for students. We use reportable data and two external comparators, the Student Experience Survey and the National Employability Survey, to gauge student learning and graduate employability. The evaluation was conducted in a tertiary institution in Australia with for nursing and midwifery students who completed their studies using TBM approach at the university. The implementation of TBM in nursing and midwifery programs resulted in improvements in learner engagement, retention rates and pass rates. Improvements were also noted graduate outcomes, with an increase in full-time graduate employment. The results suggest the Block Model is a promising new teaching approach in nursing and midwifery education, with potential benefits for learner engagement, retention and pass rates. To describe the development and evaluation of a novel virtual practice placement. Health systems around the world face the challenge of recruiting and retaining sufficient nursing staff to provide high quality care. The need to train more nurses makes it hard to provide sufficient and varied high quality student placements to all students. This paper reports the result of one approach to the provision of a novel virtual placement for pre-registration student nurses. Online virtual placement evaluated by a questionnaire conducted after the placement. A total of 195 students attended the virtual practice placement between 10th October 2022 and the 10th March 2023. The survey consisted of eight questions, of which one invited a qualitative response. A total of 188 students completed the questionnaire and provided feedback. Of these 84 were adult nursing students, 67 child, 36 mental health and one learning disability student. The virtual placement required considerable resources to run, however was deemed as valuable by most students. When asked to rate the overall experience out of 5, the median scores were consistently high: adult (Mdn=5), child (Mdn=4), learning disability (Mdn=5) and mental health (Mdn=5) and mean values consistently high across fields: adult (M=4.73), child (M=5), learning disability (M=5) and mental health (M=4.67). Qualitatively, there were four main themes that emerged from the questionnaire responses: increased understanding of community healthcare and holistic approaches to care; developing interpersonal skills; a positive impact on their future career opportunities and the value of realistic case studies. Virtual placements are a viable addition to traditional placements. However, they require careful planning and considerable resources including experienced and dedicated facilitators. This paper studies the effect on the spread of Sars-Cov-2 in Italy of schools' re-openings and closures. Exploiting different re-opening dates across regions after the summer break of 2020, I show that early-opening regions experienced more cases in the 40 days following school re-openings compared with late-opening ones. However, there is great uncertainty around the estimates, and this suggests a wide dispersion in the effects of school re-openings on Sars-Cov-2 transmission. I also study the effect of school closures in Campania, one of the biggest regions in Southern Italy. Using a synthetic control approach, I show that school closures are associated with lower numbers of cases relative to the counterfactual group, particularly in younger age groups. In contrast, I find no significant effects on older age groups, which are more likely to require hospitalization.
