Acquired anterior glottic webs (AGW) can lead to abnormally elevated phonatory pitch, dysphonia, and airway obstruction requiring urgent intervention. Herein, we construct a novel AGW rabbit model using heat injury by a laryngoscopic way. A primary study was conducted to identify the injury depth in rabbits' vocal folds (VFs) by graded heat energy and the heat energy for the incurrence of epithelial layer, lamina propria and muscular layer injury was 25, 30 and 35 W, respectively. Then four different models were designed based on the depth and degree of the injury to determine the optimal procedure for AGW formation. Morphological features, vibratory capacity and histopathological features of the AGW were respectively evaluated. The procedure for conferring the heat injury to the depth of muscular layer and extent of anterior commissure and middle part of bilateral VFs showed the highest success rate of AGW formation (95%, 19/20). For its low cost, effectiveness, and stability for AGW formation, the heat-injury rabbit model with a laryngoscopic approach may provide a new platform for testing novel anti-adhesion materials and bioengineered therapies.

The waste product phosphogypsum (PG) is produced in phosphoric acid production processes. Its storage requires large amounts of land resources and poses serious environmental risks. In this work, detailed experimental research was carried out to investigate the potential reuse of PG after calcination modification as a novel building material for cast-in-place concrete products. The calcination modification mechanism was studied, and the environmental risk assessment of modified PG was presented. The results showed that the calcination modification includes crystal phase transformation, removal of impurities, and modifying the pH value. The calcination was carried out at 280 °C for 5 h, where the resulting product was a pH value of 7.1, and the soluble fluorine and phosphorus removal rates reached up to 69.2% and 71.2%, respectively. These removal rates met the requirements of the China national standard Phosphogypsum (GB/T 23456-2018). To ensure the environmental safety, ecological risk assessment methods for determining the leaching toxicity of the modified PG were employed. The toxicity of Ba and P elements in the modified PG products was assessed, as well as the leaching toxicity concentrations of all particular heavy metals, which were found well below the limits set by the national standards. All the results presented strongly suggest that the 280 °C modified PG presented here has excellent application potential as a raw component in building materials.

Alcoholism is a worldwide health problem, and diseases caused by alcoholism are killing people every year. Amomum kravanh is a traditional Chinese medicine used to relieve hangovers. However, whether its bioactive components improve alcohol metabolism is not clear. In this study, ten new (amomumols A-J, 1–10) and thirty-five known (11–45) compounds were isolated from the fruits of Amomum kravanh by an activity-guided separation. Ten novel compounds were identified as four sesquiterpenoids (1–4), three monoterpene derivatives (5–7), two neolignans (8, 9), and a novel norsesquiterpenoid (10) with a new C14 nor-bisabolane skeleton. Their structures were determined by the comprehensive analysis of high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HRESIMS), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculation. The effects of all isolated compounds on the activity of alcohol dehydrogenase were evaluated in vitro, and it was found that eight compounds (11, 12, 15, 18, 26, and 36–38) exhibited significant activation effects on the alcohol dehydrogenase at 50 μM.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is characterized by high metastasis potential. It is of great importance to explore the mechanisms underlying ccRCC metastasis and to enable development of potent therapeutics. The mitochondrial complex I (CI) had been considered to play an important role in the development of cancers, but less known in ccRCC.We utilized available public databases of ccRCC, including single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data GSE73121 and The Cancer Genome Atlas-kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (TCGA-KIRC). Principal component analysis (PCA) and t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (tSNE) analysis were evaluated the heterogeneity of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) and primary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC). Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network identified critical gene. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and gene set variation analysis (GSVA) performed to explore the potential biologic pathways.Our study revealed a significant gene expression heterogeneity between pRCC and mRCC. A PPI network based on differentially expressed genes (DEGs) identified electron transport chain (ETC), especially mitochondrial CI, as the key network hub. Further analysis revealed that the role of mitochondrial CI is associated with tumor metastasis and immune responds of ccRCC. Although CI had low frequency mutations in ccRCC, CI expression is associated with the high frequency mutated genes. A prognosis model included 7 CI genes, and these had a significant effect on overall survival (OS). The area under the curve at 1, 3, and 5 years was 0.717, 0.685, and 0.728, respectively. In recent years, new emerging pathogenic microorganisms have frequently appeared in animals, including marine fish, possibly due to climate change, anthropogenic activities, and even cross-species transmission of pathogenic microorganisms among animals or between animals and humans, which poses a serious issue for preventive medicine. In this study, a bacterium was clearly characterized among 64 isolates from the gills of diseased large yellow croaker Larimichthys crocea that were raised in marine aquaculture. This strain was identified as K. kristinae by biochemical tests with a VITEK 2.0 analysis system and 16S rRNA sequencing and named K. kristinae_LC. The potential genes that might encode virulence-factors were widely screened through sequence analysis of the whole genome of K. kristinae_LC. Many genes involved in the two-component system and drug-resistance were also annotated. In addition, 104 unique genes in K. kristinae_LC were identified by pan genome analysis with the genomes of this strain from five different origins (woodpecker, medical resource, environment, and marine sponge reef) and the analysis results demonstrated that their predicted functions might be associated with adaptation to living conditions such as higher salinity, complex marine biomes, and low temperature. A significant difference in genomic organization was found among the K. kristinae strains that might be related to their hosts living in different environments. The animal regression test for this new bacterial isolate was carried out using L. crocea, and the results showed that this bacterium could cause the death of L. crocea and that the fish mortality was dose-dependent within 5 days post infection, indicating the pathogenicity of K. kristinae_LC to marine fish. Since K. kristinae has been reported as a pathogen for humans and bovines, in our study, we revealed a new isolate of K. kristinae_LC from marine fish for the first time, suggesting the potentiality of cross-species transmission among animals or from marine animals to humans, from which we would gain insight to help in future public prevention strategies for new emerging pathogens.

The predictions of plasma parameters in the interplanetary medium are the core of space weather forecasts, and the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) numerical simulation is an important tool in the prediction of plasma parameters. Operational space weather forecasts are commonly produced by a heliosphere model whose inner boundary is set at 18 Rs or beyond. Such predictions typically use empirical/physics-based inner boundary conditions to solve the MHD equations for numerical simulation. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the numerical modeling of the inner heliosphere. In this paper, the numerical modeling of solar wind and coronal mass ejection in the inner heliosphere is reviewed. In particular, different inner boundary conditions used in the simulation are investigated since the MHD solutions are predetermined by the treatment of the inner boundary conditions to a large extent. Discussion is made on further development of the heliosphere model.

We carried out whole transcriptome sequencing (WTS) on the tumor and the matching adjacent normal tissues from five patients having Xp11 translocation renal cell carcinoma (RCC). This was performed in terms of obtaining more understanding of the genomic panorama and molecular basis of this cancer. To examine gene-regulatory networks in XP11 translocation RCC, variance expression analysis was carried out, followed by functional enrichment analysis. Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) of Xp11 translocation RCC data was used to validate the results. As per inclusion criteria, a total of 1886 differentially expressed mRNAs (DEmRNAs), 56 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEmiRNAs), 223 differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs), and 1764 differentially expressed circRNAs (DEcircRNAs) were found. KEGG enrichment study of DEmiRNA, DElncRNA, and DEcircRNA target genes identified the function of protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum, lysosome, and neutrophil-mediated immunity. Three subnetwork modules integrated from the PPI network also revealed the genes involved in protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum, lysosome, and protein degradation processes, which may regulate the Xp11 translocation RCC process. The ceRNA complex network was created by Cytoscape, which included three upregulated circRNAs, five upregulated lncRNAs, 24 upregulated mRNAs, and two downregulated miRNAs (hsa-let-7d-5p and hsa-miR-433-3p). The genes as a prominent component of the complex ceRNA network may be key factors in the pathogenesis of Xp11 translocation RCC. Our findings clarified the genomic and transcriptional complexity of Xp11 translocation RCC while also pointing to possible new targets for Xp11 translocation RCC characterization.

Background Anastomosis for gastrointestinal reconstruction has been contentious after low anterior resection of rectal cancer for the past 30 years. Despite the abundance of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on colon J-pouch (CJP), straight colorectal anastomosis (SCA), transverse coloplast (TCP), and side-to-end anastomosis (SEA), most studies are small and lack reliable clinical evidence. We conducted a systematic review and network meta-analysis to evaluate the effects of the four anastomoses on postoperative complications, bowel function, and quality of life in rectal cancer. Methods We assessed the safety and efficacy of CJP, SCA, TCP, and SEA in adult patients with rectal cancer after surgery by searching the Cochrane Library, Embase, and PubMed databases to collect RCTs from the date of establishment to May 20, 2022. Anastomotic leakage and defecation frequency were the main outcome indicators. We pooled data through a random effects model in a Bayesian framework and assessed model inconsistency using the deviance information criterion (DIC) and node-splitting method and inter-study heterogeneity using the I-squared statistics (I2). The interventions were ranked according to the surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) to compare each outcome indicator. Results Of the 474 studies initially evaluated, 29 were eligible RCTs comprising 2631 patients. Among the four anastomoses, the SEA group had the lowest incidence of anastomotic leakage, ranking first (SUCRASEA = 0.982), followed by the CJP group (SUCRACJP = 0.628). The defecation frequency in the SEA group was comparable to those in the CJP and TCP groups at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months postoperatively. In comparison, the defecation frequency in the SCA group 12 months after surgery all ranked fourth. No statistically significant differences were found among the four anastomoses in terms of anastomotic stricture, reoperation, postoperative mortality within 30 days, fecal urgency, incomplete defecation, use of antidiarrheal medication, or quality of life. Conclusions This study demonstrated that SEA had the lowest risk of complications, comparable bowel function, and quality of life compared to the CJP and TCP, but further research is required to determine its long-term consequences. Furthermore, we should be aware that SCA is associated with a high defecation frequency.

Background About 10–20% of patients with bladder cancer (BC) progress to muscle-invasive diseases, of which the underlying key molecular events have yet to be addressed. Results Here, we identified poly(A) binding protein nuclear 1 (PABPN1), a general factor of alternative polyadenylation (APA), was downregulated in BC. Overexpression and knockdown of PABPN1 significantly decreased and increased BC aggressiveness, respectively. Mechanistically, we provide evidence that the preference of PABPN1-bound polyadenylation signals (PASs) depends on the relative location between canonical and non-canonical PASs. PABPN1 shapes inputs converging on Wnt signaling, cell cycle, and lipid biosynthesis. Conclusions Together, these findings provide insights into how PABPN1-mediated APA regulation contributes to BC progression, and suggest that pharmacological targeting PABPN1 might have therapeutic potential in patients with BC.

Purpose: To discuss the effects and mechanisms of improvement of Hydroxysafflor yellow A in pulmonary fibrosis by in vivo study. Material and Methods: In this study, dividing the C57BL/6 mice as 4 group, there were 10 mice in every group. Collecting the serum of difference groups and measuring the Hyp, SOD, MDA, TNF-α and IL-6 levels. Lung tissues were taken out and evaluating the pathology by HE staining and fibrosis degree by Masson staining. The relative proteins (α-SMA and E-cadherin) were measured by IHC and WB in lung tissues of difference groups. Results: With HSYA or DXM supplement, the Hyp, MDA, TNF-α and IL-6 concentrations significantly suppressed and SOD concentration significantly enhanced (P < 0.05, respectively). Compared with Sham group, the pathology injury and fibrosis degree of Model group were significantly up-regulation (P < 0.001, respectively); With HSYA or DXM treatment, the pathology injury and fibrosis degree of HSYA and DXM groups were significantly improved (P < 0.05, respectively). By IHC and WB assay, the α-SMA and E-cadherin proteins expressions of Model group were significantly differences (P < 0.001, respectively); however, the α-SMA and E-cadherin proteins expressions of HSYA and DXM groups were significantly improved with HSYA or DXM supplement (P < 0.05, respectively). Conclusion: HSYA improves pulmonary fibrosis by regulation α-SMA and E-cadherin in vivo study.

BACKGROUND: Arrhythmia is not uncommon among pulmonary hypertension (PH) population, and may be associated with disease severity. HYPOTHESIS: To investigate different spectrums and prevalence of arrhythmias in different clinical PH groups in Chinese population. METHODS: Patients diagnosed with PH between April 15, 2019, and August 2, 2021, were enrolled prospectively. The prevalence of different types of arrhythmias in PH patients were calculated. Logistic regression analyses were conducted to determine independent predictors for arrhythmia. RESULTS: One thousand patients were enrolled. The prevalence of any arrhythmia, sinus node dysfunction, sinus tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, other types of atrial tachycardia, atrioventricular block, and ventricular tachycardia is 44.4%, 12.2%, 15.2%, 8.1%, 4.1%, 10.2%, 7.1%, and 2.5%. BackgroundPrevious studies have shown that dexmedetomidine (DEX) may be associated with reduced vasopressor requirements in septic shock patients, however, long-term DEX-only sedation in reducing vasopressor requirements is still controversial.MethodsA retrospective study was conducted among patients with septic shock on mechanical ventilation using the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV) database. The primary outcome was the ratio of norepinephrine equivalent dose to mean arterial pressure (NEq/MAP) in the first 72 h after DEX or other sedatives for sedation. The secondary outcomes were key organ function parameters, 28-day mortality, and 90-day mortality. Univariate, propensity score matching (PSM), and generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) analyses were performed.ResultsDEX was associated with decreased NEq/MAP in the first 72 h (difference = 0.05, 95% CI = –0.02–0.08, p = 0.002) after adjusting for confounders in the GLMM analysis. The DEX group was also associated with a lower heart rate, cardiac output (CO), lactate level, aspartate transaminase (AST) level, and higher PaO2/FiO2 ratio (p p = 0.030).ConclusionDEX may be associated with decreased vasopressor requirements, improved AST and PaO2/FiO2 levels, and reduced 90-day mortality in patients with septic shock, which warrants further study.

The lockdowns from the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) have led to a reduction in anthropogenic activities and have hence reduced primary air pollutant emissions, which were reported to have helped air quality improvements. However, air quality expressed by the air quality index (AQI) did not improve in Shanghai, China, during the COVID-19 outbreak in the spring of 2022. To better understand the reason, we investigated the variations of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), PM2.5 (particular matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 2.5 μm), and PM10 (particular matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 10 μm) by using in situ and satellite measurements from 1 March to 31 June 2022 (pre-, full-, partial-, and post-lockdown periods). The results show that the benefit of the significantly decreased ground-level PM2.5, PM10, and NO2 was offset by amplified O3 pollution, therefore leading to the increased AQI. According to the backward trajectory analyses and multiple linear regression (MLR) model, the anthropogenic emissions dominated the observed changes in air pollutants during the full-lockdown period relative to previous years (2019–2021), whereas the long-range transport and local meteorological parameters (temperature, air pressure, wind speed, relative humidity, and precipitation) influenced little. We further identified the chemical mechanism that caused the increase in O3 concentration. The amplified O3 pollution during the full-lockdown period was caused by the reduction in anthropogenic nitrogen oxides (NOx) under a VOC-limited regime and high background O3 concentrations owing to seasonal variations. In addition, we found that in the downtown area, ground-level PM2.5, PM10, and NO2 more sensitively responded to the changes in lockdown measures than they did in the suburbs. These findings provide new insights into the impact of emission control restrictions on air quality and have implications for air pollution control in the future.

ObjectiveTo provide the current research progress, hotspots, and emerging trends for AI in liver cancer, we have compiled a relative comprehensive and quantitative report on the research of liver disease using artificial intelligence by employing bibliometrics in this study.MethodsIn this study, the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was used to perform systematic searches using keywords and a manual screening strategy, VOSviewer was used to analyze the degree of cooperation between countries/regions and institutions, as well as the co-occurrence of cooperation between authors and cited authors. Citespace was applied to generate a dual map to analyze the relationship of citing journals and citied journals and conduct a strong citation bursts ranking analysis of references. Online SRplot was used for in-depth keyword analysis and Microsoft Excel 2019 was used to collect the targeted variables from retrieved articles.Results1724 papers were collected in this study, including 1547 original articles and 177 reviews. The study of AI in liver cancer mostly began from 2003 and has developed rapidly from 2017. China has the largest number of publications, and the United States has the highest H-index and total citation counts. The top three most productive institutions are the League of European Research Universities, Sun Yat Sen University, and Zhejiang University. Jasjit S. Suri and Frontiers in Oncology are the most published author and journal, respectively. Keyword analysis showed that in addition to the research on liver cancer, research on liver cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, and liver fibrosis were also common. Computed tomography was the most used diagnostic tool, followed by ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis of liver cancer are currently the most widely adopted research goals, and comprehensive analyses of multi-type data and postoperative analysis of patients with advanced liver cancer are rare. The use of convolutional neural networks is the main technical method used in studies of AI on liver cancer.ConclusionAI has undergone rapid development and has a wide application in the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases, especially in China. Imaging is an indispensable tool in this filed. Mmulti-type data fusion analysis and development of multimodal treatment plans for liver cancer could become the major trend of future research in AI in liver cancer.

BackgroundSome VOCs are identified as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), interfering with the effect of sex hormones. However, no studies focused on the common spectrum of environmental VOCs exposure affecting sex hormones in the average male population.ObjectivesWe aimed to explore the association between VOCs and sex hormones in American adult males using multiple statistical models.MethodsThe generalized linear (GLM), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), weighted quantile sum (WQS), Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) and stratified models were used to evaluate the associations between Specific Volatile Organic Compounds and sex hormones in American adult male from NHANES 2013–2016.ResultsPearson correlation model revealed the potential co-exposure pattern among VOCs. XGBoost algorithm models and the WQS model suggested the relative importance of VOCs. BKMR models reveal that co-exposure to the VOCs was associated with increased Testosterone (TT), Estradiol (E2), SHBG and decreased TT/E2. GLM models revealed specific VOC exposure as an independent risk factor causing male sex hormones disorders. Stratified analysis identified the high-risk group on the VOCs exposures. We found Blood 2,5-Dimethylfuran in VOCs was the most significant effect on sex hormones in male. Testosterone increased by 213.594 (ng/dL) (124.552, 302.636) and estradiol increased by 7.229 (pg/mL) for each additional unit of blood 2,5-Dimethylfuran (ng/mL).ConclusionThis study is an academic illustration of the association between VOCs exposure and sex hormones, suggesting that exposure to VOCs might be associated with sex hormone metabolic disorder in American adult males.

Full-color emissive carbon dots (CDs) hold a great promise for various applications, especially in light emitting diodes (LEDs). However, the existing synthetic routes for CDs are carried out in solutions, which suffer from low yields, high pressures, various byproducts, large amounts of waste solvents, and complicated photoluminescence (PL) origins. Therefore, it is necessary to explore large scale synthesis of CDs with high quantum yield (QY) across the entire visible range from a single carbon source by a solvent-free method. In this work, a series of CDs with tunable PL emission from 442 to 621 nm, QY of 23%–56%, and production yield within 34%–72%, are obtained by heating o-phenylenediamine with the catalysis of KCl. Detailed characterizations identify that, the differences between these CDs with respect to the graphitization degree, graphitic nitrogen content, and oxygen-containing functional groups, are responsible for their distinct optical properties, which can be modulated by controlling the deamination and dehydrogenation processes during reactions. Blue, green, yellow, red emissive films, and LEDs are prepared by dispersing the corresponding CDs into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). All types of white LEDs (WLEDs) with high colorrendering- index (CRI), including warm WLEDs, standard WLEDs, and cool WLEDs, are also fabricated by mixing the red, green, and blue emissive CDs into PVA matrix by the appropriate ratios.

Molecule-aggregation organic electrodes in principle possess the “single-molecule-energy-storage” capability for metal-ion rechargeable batteries. Besides dissolution issue, the effect of possible solvent co-intercalation in liquid electrolytes also devalues the true performance of organic electrodes due to the weak Van der Waals forces among organic molecules. Herein, a small-molecule organic cathode called [N,N’-bis(2-anthraquinone)]-perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxydiimide (PTCDI-DAQ, 200 mAh g-1) can deliver the unprecedented results in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) by carefully choosing high-concentration electrolytes, which can offer more free sodium ions and decrease the solvent co-intercalation effect. Consequently, PTCDI-DAQ can deliver an ultra-stable capacity above 173 mAh g-1 during a long-lifetime operation test in half cells (6 months at least). In full cells, the resulting PTCDI-DAQ II Na3Bi SIBs can deliver a peak discharge capacity of 206 mAh g-1cathode with an average voltage of 1.2 V, running with no capacity decay over 4 months. Meanwhile, our PTCDI-DAQ II Na3Bi SIBs can re-store a world record of 70% capacity retention (142 mAh g-1cathode) at 20 A g-1cathode (100 C). To the best of our knowledge, PTCDI-DAQ can currently represent the best organic cathode for SIBs in the world; and the integrated performance of our PTCDI-DAQ II Na3Bi SIBs can compete with the best SIBs reported to date.small-molecule organic cathodes; ultra-stability; long lifespan; high rate; Na-ion batteries

All-solid-state Li-ion batteries (ASSLIBs) have been widely studied to achieve Li-ion batteries (LIBs) with high safety and energy density. Recent reviews and experimental papers have focused on methods that improve the ionic conductivity, stabilize the electrochemical performance, and enhance the electrolyte/electrode interfacial compatibility of several solid-state electrolytes (SSEs), including oxides, sulfides, composite and gel electrolytes, and so on. Garnet-structured Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) is highly regarded an SSE with excellent application potential. However, this type of electrolyte also possesses a number of disadvantages, such as low ionic conductivity, unstable cubic phase, and poor interfacial compatibility with anodes/cathodes. The benefits of LLZO have urged many researchers to explore effective solutions to overcome its inherent limitations. Herein, we review recent developments on garnet-structured LLZO and provide comprehensive insights to guide the development of garnet-structured LLZO-type electrolytes. We not only systematically and comprehensively discuss the preparation, element doping, structure, stability, and interfacial improvement of LLZOs but also provide future perspectives for these materials. This review expands the current understanding on advanced solid garnet electrolytes and provides meaningful guidance for the commercialization of ASSLIBs.

BACKGROUND: In the 6(th) World Symposium on Pulmonary Hypertension (PH), the hemodynamic definition of PH was reduced from a mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) ≥25 to >20 mmHg. Platelets are reprogrammed by cancer via a process called education, which favors cancer development. The transcriptional profile of tumor-educated platelets (TEPs) is skewed and therefore practicable for cancer detection. This intercontinental, hospital-based, diagnostic study included 761 treatment-naïve inpatients with histologically confirmed adnexal masses and 167 healthy controls from nine medical centers (China, n = 3; Netherlands, n = 5; Poland, n = 1) between September 2016 and May 2019. The main outcomes were the performance of TEPs and their combination with CA125 in two Chinese (VC1 and VC2) and the European (VC3) validation cohorts collectively and independently. Exploratory outcome was the value of TEPs in public pan-cancer platelet transcriptome datasets. The AUCs for TEPs in the combined validation cohort, VC1, VC2, and VC3 were 0.918 (95% CI 0.889–0.948), 0.923 (0.855–0.990), 0.918 (0.872–0.963), and 0.887 (0.813–0.960), respectively. Combination of TEPs and CA125 demonstrated an AUC of 0.922 (0.889–0.955) in the combined validation cohort; 0.955 (0.912–0.997) in VC1; 0.939 (0.901–0.977) in VC2; 0.917 (0.824–1.000) in VC3. For subgroup analysis, TEPs exhibited an AUC of 0.858, 0.859, and 0.920 to detect early-stage, borderline, non-epithelial diseases and 0.899 to discriminate ovarian cancer from endometriosis. TEPs had robustness, compatibility, and universality for preoperative diagnosis of ovarian cancer since it withstood validations in populations of different ethnicities, heterogeneous histological subtypes, and early-stage ovarian cancer. However, these observations warrant prospective validations in a larger population before clinical utilities.

Benzophenone-type UV filters (BPs) are ubiquitous contaminants in aquatic environments, possibly posing ecological risks to aquatic populations. So far, little is known about the potential adverse effects of BPs on amphibians. Given their potential estrogenic property, we investigated the detrimental effects of the commonly used BPs, BP-3, BP-2, and BP-1, on testis development in amphibians using Xenopus laevis as a model species. Following exposure to 10, 100, 1000 nM BP-3, BP-2, or BP-1 from stages 45/46 to 52, tadpoles presented morphological abnormal testes, characterized by reduced gonomere size and testis area, coupled with suppressed cell proliferation. Meanwhile, the downregulation of testis-biased gene expression and the upregulation of ovary-biased gene expression were observed in BPs-treated testes. Moreover, the estrogen receptor (ER) antagonist ICI 182780 significantly antagonized ovary-biased gene upregulation caused by BPs, suggesting that the effects of BPs on testis differentiation could be mediated by ER, at least partially. Of note, the effects of BPs were not concentration-dependent, but the lowest concentration generally exerted significant effects. Altogether, these observations indicate that the three BPs inhibited testis differentiation and exerted feminizing effects. Importantly, when BP-2 exposure was extended to two months post-metamorphosis, testes of froglets were generally less-developed, with relatively fewer spermatocytes, more spermatogonia, and poorly formed seminiferous tubules. Considering the fact that the lowest concentration (10 nM) of BPs in this study are detectable in aquatic environments, we conclude that BP-3, BP-2, and BP-1, even at environmentally relevant concentrations, can retard testis differentiation at pre-metamorphic stages and cause testis dysgenesis after metamorphosis in the amphibian X. laevis. Our findings suggest that ubiquitous BPs in aquatic environments could pose a potential risk to amphibians.

Solar Ring (SOR) is a proposed space science mission to monitor and study the Sun and inner heliosphere from a full 360{\deg} perspective in the ecliptic plane. It will deploy three 120{\deg}-separated spacecraft on the 1-AU orbit. The first spacecraft, S1, locates 30{\deg} upstream of the Earth, the second, S2, 90{\deg} downstream, and the third, S3, completes the configuration. This design with necessary science instruments, e.g., the Doppler-velocity and vector magnetic field imager, wide-angle coronagraph, and in-situ instruments, will allow us to establish many unprecedented capabilities: (1) provide simultaneous Doppler-velocity observations of the whole solar surface to understand the deep interior, (2) provide vector magnetograms of the whole photosphere - the inner boundary of the solar atmosphere and heliosphere, (3) provide the information of the whole lifetime evolution of solar featured structures, and (4) provide the whole view of solar transients and space weather in the inner heliosphere. With these capabilities, Solar Ring mission aims to address outstanding questions about the origin of solar cycle, the origin of solar eruptions and the origin of extreme space weather events. Alternative polyadenylation (APA) is emerging as a crucial regulatory mechanism in bladder cancer (BC), while it remains elusive whether APA influences the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) in BC. We identified two distinct subtypes of BC by APA-related regulatory genes expression profiles. The two subtypes have different pathological grades, prognostic outcomes, tumor immune infiltration characteristics, and pathway enrichment. Subsequently, CPSF3 was identified as a potential immune infiltration-related gene in BC. Highly expressed CPSF3 was positively correlated with unfavorable prognosis and high CD276 expression in BC. Moreover, we verified the expression of CPSF3 in BC tissues and cell lines by qRT-PCR. In conclusion, the study indicates that APA regulatory factors play an important role in immune infiltration of BC, and that CPSF3 was a potentially prognostic marker and immunotherapy target for BC.
