Alpha-pinene is an important forest chemical resource, and the cis-pinane obtained by its hydrogenation reaction is used in spices, medicine, and other industries. A hollow nanospheric material with amphiphilic properties in a two-sided structure was prepared, with a nitrogen-doped carbon layer towards the inside and mesoporous silica in the outer layer of the nanospheres. The amphiphilic catalyst with non-precious nickel as the active component was synthesized by loading nickel onto the nanospheres using a simple impregnation method and applied to the aqueous phase hydrogenation reaction of α-pinene. The mesoporous structure of the catalyst shortened the mass transfer distance and thus reduced the mass transfer resistance. The nitrogen atoms doped in the carbon matrix provided anchor points for stabilizing the metal nanoparticles; the hydrophilic outer surface and hydrophobic hollow cavity enabled the catalyst to be well dispersed in water while still enriching the organic matter in aqueous solution. The effect of various reaction conditions on the catalytic reaction was investigated. The catalysts showed excellent activity and good stability, suggesting a new green and efficient method for more effective exploitation of biomass pine resin resources, and providing a reference for expanding the application of non-precious metal catalysts.

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a common inflammatory disease in otolaryngology, mainly manifested as nasal congestion, nasal discharge, facial pain/pressure, and smell disorder. CRS with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), an important phenotype of CRS, has a high recurrence rate even after receiving corticosteroids and/or functional endoscopic sinus surgery. In recent years, clinicians have focused on the application of biological agents in CRSwNP. However, it has not reached a consensus on the timing and selection of biologics for the treatment of CRS so far. Summary: We reviewed the previous studies of biologics in CRS and summarized the indications, contraindications, efficacy assessment, prognosis, and adverse effects of biologics. Also, we evaluated the treatment response and adverse reactions of dupilumab, omalizumab, and mepolizumab in the management of CRS and made recommendations. Key Messages: Dupilumab, omalizumab, and mepolizumab have been approved for the treatment of CRSwNP by the US Food and Drug Administration. Type 2 and eosinophilic inflammation, need for systemic steroids or contraindication to systemic steroids, significantly impaired quality of life, anosmia, and comorbid asthma are required for the use of biologics. Based on current evidence, dupilumab has the prominent advantage in improving quality of life and reducing the risk of comorbid asthma in CRSwNP among the approved monoclonal antibodies. Most patients tolerate biological agents well in general with few major or severe adverse effects. Biologics have provided more options for severe uncontrolled CRSwNP patients or patients who refuse to have surgery. In the future, more novel biologics will be assessed in high-quality clinical trials and applied clinically.

The heat treatment of SA508-3 steel was carried out by means of quenching and manual aging. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the prepared SA508-3 steel were analyzed and tested. The results show that the main composition of the matrix of SA508-3 steel is bainite, and the main composition of the second phase is alloy cementite containing Fe, Mn and C. The second phase is distributed at both the matrix and grain boundaries. The second phase can prevent the dislocation from moving by fixing the dislocation, and the second phase at the grain boundary can strengthen the matrix by hindering the grain boundary movement. The stress-strain curves of SA508-3 steel under different loading rates show that when the strain rate is greater than 0.5 m s−1, the fracture mode of the steel is brittle fracture, and when the strain rate is less than 0.5 m s−1, the fracture mode of the steel is ductile-brittle bonding fracture. The second phase of the crack first diffuses to the grain boundary, reducing the strength of the grain boundary. When the loading rate is high, the second phase at the grain boundary cannot diffuse in time, and the material undergoes transgranular fracture and intergranular fracture.

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of brachytherapy in post-operative cervical cancer patients with risk factors other than positive stump, and to identify the candidates most likely to benefit.Newly diagnosed, non-metastatic cervical cancer patients treated in our hospital between January 2012 and November 2015 were retrospectively reviewed. Early stage patients receiving radical surgery and needing adjuvant external radiotherapy were included, but those with positive stump were excluded. All patients received external radiotherapy. They were divided into two groups: one group received vaginal brachytherapy and the other did not. The 5-year local-regional recurrence free survival (LRRFS) and overall survival (OS) rates in the two groups were compared.Two hundred and twenty-five patients were included in this study; while 99 received brachytherapy, 126 did not. The brachytherapy group had significantly superior 5-year LRRFS (87.7% vs. 72.5%, p = 0.004), but did not show a significant overall survival benefit (78.4% vs. 75.3%, p = 0.055). In multivariate analysis, brachytherapy, pathological type, high-risk factors, duration of radiotherapy, and transfusion were independent prognostic factors for 5-year LRRFS. In stratified analysis, the brachytherapy group showed superior LRRFS in those meeting Sedlis criteria (p = 0.017).The combination of external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy can improve LRRFS in post-operative cervical cancer patients with risk factors other than positive stump. Therefore, brachytherapy should be considered for these patients.

Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) have a great potential in both diagnostic and therapeutic applications as they provide contrast in magnetic resonance imaging techniques and allow magnetic hyperthermia and drug delivery. Though various types of SPION are commercially available, efforts to improve the quality of SPION are highly in demand. Here, we describe a strategy for optimization of SPION synthesis under microfluidics using the coprecipitation approach. Synthesis parameters such as temperature, pH, iron salt concentration, and coating materials were investigated in continuous and segmented flows. Continuous flow allowed synthesizing particles of a smaller size and higher stability than segmented flow, while both conditions improved the quality of particles compared to batch synthesis. Purpose: To investigate the effect and regulatory mechanism of fucoxanthin (FX) on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Methods: Human OSCC SCC9 and Cal27 cells were treated with different concentrations of FX (7.5, 15, and 30 μM) to determine cell viability, number of colonies, and apoptosis rate using methyl thiazolyl diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, crystal violet staining, and flow cytometry, respectively. In addition, the number of spheres of OSCC cells was determined by a cell sphere-forming assay. The stem cells and levels of pathway-related proteins were evaluated by western blotting. Results: Fucoxanthin decreased SCC9 and Cal27 cell viability and the number of colonies, but increased apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner. The expression levels of SOX2 and POU5F1 were down-regulated, while the number of spheres was reduced in SCC9 and Cal27 cells treated with 7.5 or 15 μM of FX (p < 0.05). Moreover, FX attenuated p-JAK/JAK and p-STAT3/STAT3 expression levels in a dose-dependent manner (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Fucoxanthin accelerates apoptosis and inhibits cell mobility and OSCC stem cell formation by suppressing JAK/STAT3 pathway in OSCC, thus providing an experimental basis for research on the anti-tumor effect of kelp extract and the development of new drugs from marine plants.

There is an increasing demand for simple and efficient sample delivery technology to match the rapid development of serial crystallography and its wide application in analyzing the structural dynamics of biological macromolecules. Here, a microfluidic rotating-target device is presented, capable of three-degrees-of-freedom motion, including two rotational degrees of freedom and one translational degree of freedom, for sample delivery. Lysozyme crystals were used as a test model with this device to collect serial synchrotron crystallography data and the device was found to be convenient and useful. This device enables in situ diffraction from crystals in a microfluidic channel without the need for crystal harvesting. The circular motion ensures that the delivery speed can be adjusted over a wide range, showing its good compatibility with different light sources. Moreover, the three-degrees-of-freedom motion guarantees the full utilization of crystals. Hence, sample consumption is greatly reduced, and only 0.1 mg of protein is consumed in collecting a complete dataset.

Aiming at the problems that traditional K-means text clustering cannot automatically determine the number of clusters and is sensitive to initial cluster centers, this paper proposes a Canopy-MMD text clustering algorithm based on simulated annealing and silhouette coefficient optimization. The algorithm uses the simulated annealing algorithm combined with the silhouette coefficient to optimize the Canopy algorithm to find the optimal number of clusters, and uses the optimal number of clusters to determine the scale coefficient in the MMD algorithm, and finally achieves a better text clustering effect. The Sohu News dataset of Sogou Lab is experimentally analyzed and compared with the clustering results obtained by traditional K-means and algorithms in the literature. The experimental results show that the clustering performance of the algorithm is better than the traditional K-means algorithm and the algorithm in the literature, and the accuracy, precision, recall and F value are improved by 8.02%, 8.91%, 8.02%, 9.51% compared with the traditional K-means algorithm, which can be widely used in fields such as text mining, knowledge graph and natural language processing. &nbsp

To improve the transportation efficiency of advanced manufacturing, cameras have been extensively deployed to enhance the on-road perception of autonomous ground vehicles in smart industrial parks. Considering the informative yet substantial data volume of contents generated by those cameras, we employ vehicle-to-everything links to deliver the captured video frames to neighboring vehicles, road-side units, or base stations, in order to respond to vehicle-control-related video queries. To help vehicles obtain low-latency and high-accuracy on-road information for autonomous driving, an optimization problem is formulated, taking into account the impact of vehicle mobility and diverse resource demands of different video queries. Then, a two-stage algorithm is proposed to determine the frame rate of video cameras, as well as the destination of the associated video frames based on matching theory. Extensive simulation results show that this approach can improve the accuracy by up to 18% and reduce the response delay by 13.2%.

We report an organic luminescent small molecule, Bis(1-phenylisoquinoline) (acetylacetonate) iridium(III) or Ir(piq)2(acac), that can function as a stable and efficient hole selective contact (HSC) for crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells. The devices with the Ir(piq)2(acac) HSC exhibit superior charge transport properties and high stability for up to 30 days in the air without packaging. The photovoltaic characteristics with the solution-processed Ir(piq)2(acac) HSC exhibit little dependence on the blade coating speed and film thickness, demonstrating tolerance to coating and thickness variations. Moreover, the series resistance of the solar cells and the surface work function of the Ir(piq)2(acac) HSCs exhibit analogous correlations to the annealing temperature, suggesting that the fill factor (FF) enhancement originates from an upward energy band bending and a reduced barrier height which facilitates hole transport and collection. The conventional c-Si solar cell incorporating an Ir(piq)2(acac) HSC achieves a 17.8% power conversion efficiency (PCE) with a 78.9% FF, both exceeding the reference counterpart with a 16.9% PCE and 76.8% FF. This work opens up possibilities for exploring a variety of organic luminescent small molecules as efficient hole selective contacts in high-efficiency and low-cost silicon photovoltaics. This study set out to investigate the clinical significance of serum tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated protein 1 (TRAP1) in diagnosing small cell lung cancer (SCLC) with different clinical stages, and to compare the diagnostic efficiency with neuron-specific enolase (NSE), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9). Besides, to analyze the role of serum TRAP1 in tumor immunity. A total of 91 patients with SCLC, 99 patients with non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), 102 patients with pulmonary nodules (PN), and 75 healthy people were included.
