In this paper a balanced NL CRLH TL (Non-Linear Composite Right/Left-Handed Transmission Line) is designed and then analysed for applications of frequency doublers and short pulse generation. The circuit is an array of cascaded cells, each one consisting of series connected reverse biased Schottky-varactor diodes working as nonlinear capacitors and parallel connected open-ended transmission line working as parallel resonator.

This paper presents the results in modeling, technological realization and measurements of a zeroth- order resonating antenna based on CRLH (composite right/left-handed) transmission lines. The CRLH consists of series connected CPW interdigital capacitors and parallel connected CPW transmission lines. The studied devices were fabricated on silicon substrate for a subsequent integration in a more complex circuit. A very good agreement between the simulation data and the experimental results has been found out in the 10 - 14 GHz frequency domain.

The paper presents the results concerning the design, fabrication and measurements for a microwave zeroth order resonance antenna, based on CPW CRLH TLs (CoPlanar Waveguide Composite Right/Left-Handed Transmission Lines). The CRLH TL consists of series CPW interdigital capacitor and parallel connectd CPW stubs. The antenna was fabricated on high resistivity silicon substrate. The theoretically expected results are in very good agreement with the experimental findings, concerning both the return loss and the antenna gain.

A coupler consisting of two coupled CPW CRLH TLs (CoPlanar Waveguide Composite Right/Left-Handed Transmission L ines) is designed and fabricated. The coupler was fabricated on high resistivity silicon substrate, using one mask technological process. The measurements performed on the coupler give evidence for an experimental frequency bandwidth from 10.5 GHz up to 13.5 GHz, in good agreement with the simulation results.

In this paper, two matched microstrip line configurations for the excitation of magnetostatic wave resonators (SER) have been studied for optimizing the SER performances. The first transducer was designed on a bulk silicon substrate, and the second one suspended on a micromachined membrane, to be realized by means of wet anisotropic etching. These configurations were simulated by Microwave Office.

Two band-stop SERs (resonator A and resonator B) on silicon membrane were obtained and characterized. The frequency tunability domain of these resonators was between 3 GHz and 9.5 GHz ca. obtained by changing the dc magnetic bias field between Happl = 0.02 T and Happl = 0.34 T. The measurements of the S21 parameter demonstrate a suppression of more than 20 dB of the high order modes, showing a good selectivity of this kind of resonator. The rejection ratio was better than -20 dB in the frequency domain from f = 3 GHz to f = 9.5 GHz for the resonator A and better than -20 dB between f = 4.2 GHz and f = 9.5 GHz for the resonator B. These results demonstrate the possibility to obtain microwave band-stop resonators supported on silicon membrane with high isolation and rejection ratios.

The paper presents an experimental method useful to characterize on-wafer a four-port circuit, using a two-port VNA (V ector Network A nalyzer). As an example, the method is applied for a coupler. The results obtained by using this method and the expected results obtained by simulation are in good agreement.
