Poly(p-phenylene-2,6-benzobisoxazole) nanofiber (PNF) paper is facing unprecedented challenges in enhancing the interaction between the PNFs and improving its hydrophobicity. In this work, a sol-gel film transformation approach was developed to fabricate high-strength PNF paper. Iron ions formed coordination bonds between PNFs to obtain a preforming three-dimensional, interconnective nanofiber network. Subsequently, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles were sprayed onto the surface of the paper, followed by thermal treatment to obtain double-layered PTFE-P/PNF nanocomposite paper. The nanocomposite paper presents incredible tensile strength (271.6 MPa, increased by 52.9%), folding endurance, super-hydrophobicity, and self-cleaning performances. Moreover, it exhibits low dielectric constant (2.06) and dielectric loss tangent (0.0133) values. According to the wave-transparent model for a double-layered dielectric established by Maxwell's equations, the wave-transparent coefficients of electromagnetic waves incident from both sides of the paper are 97.6% (PNF side) and 96.0% (PTFE/P(S-co-BCB-co-MMA) side), respectively. Intelligent responsive devices are crucial for a variety of applications ranging from smart electronics to robotics. Electro-responsive cholesteric liquid crystals (CLC) have been widely applied in display panels, smart windows, and so on. In this work, we realize the mechanical stimuli-triggered optical responses of the CLC by integrating it with a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), which converts the mechanical motion into alternating current electricity and then tunes the different optical responses of the CLC. When the voltage applied on the CLC is relatively low (15-40 V), the TENG drives the switching between the bistable planar state and focal conic state of the CLC, which shows potential applications in self-powered smart windows or E-paper displays. When the voltage supplied by the TENG is larger than 60 V, a self-powered optical switch is demonstrated by utilizing the transformation between focal conic state and instantons homeotropic state of the CLC. With the rapid development of wearable intelligent devices, low-cost wearable strain sensors with high sensitivity and low detection limit are urgently demanded. Meanwhile, sensing stability of sensor in wet or corrosive environments should also be considered in practical applications. Here, superhydrophobic microcracked conductive paper-based strain sensor was fabricated by coating conductive Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene on printing paper via dip-coating process and followed by depositing superhydrophobic candle soot layer on its surface. Owing to the ultrasensitive microcrack structure in the conductive coating layer induced by the mismatch of elastic modulus and thermal expansion coefficient between conductive coating layer and paper substrate during the drying process, the prepared paper-based strain sensor exhibited a high sensitivity (gauge factor, GF = 17.4) in the strain range of 0-0.6%, ultralow detection limit (0.1% strain) and good fatigue resistance over 1000 cycles towards bending deformation. Interestingly, it was also applicable for torsion deformation detection, showing excellent torsion angle dependent, repeatable and stable sensing performances. Meanwhile, it displayed brilliant waterproof, self-cleaning and corrosion-resistant properties due to the existence of micro/nano-structured and the low surface energy candle soot layer. As a result, the prepared paper-based strain sensor can effectively monitor a series of large-scale and small-scale human motions even under water environment, showing the great promising in practical harsh outdoor environments. Importantly, it also demonstrated good applicability for spatial strain distribution detection of skin upon body movement when assembled into electronic-skin (E-skin). Designing and fabricating cheap and active bifunctional materials is crucial for the development of renewable energy technologies. In this article, three-dimensional nitrogen-doped porous carbon materials (NDPC-X, in which X represents the pyrolysis temperature) were fabricated by simultaneous carbonization and activation of polypyrrole-coated paper towel protected by a silica layer followed by acid etching. The material had a high specific surface area (1,123.40 m 2 /g). The as-obtained NDPC-900 displayed outstanding activity as a catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) as well as an electrode with a high specific capacitance in a supercapacitor in an alkaline medium. The NDPC-900 catalyst for the ORR exhibited a more positive reduction peak potential of -0.068 V (vs. Hg|HgCl 2 ) than that of Pt/C (-0.121 V), as well as better cycling stability and stronger methanol tolerance. Moreover, the NDPC-900 had a high specific capacitance of 379.50 F/g at a current density of 1 A/g, with a retention rate of 94.5% after 10,000 cycles in 6 mol/L KOH electrolyte when used as an electrode in a supercapacitor. All these results were attributed to the effect of a large surface area, which provided electrochemically active sites. The construction of flexible platform possessing the functions of immobilizing, separating, rinsing, and high-throughput analysis plays a significant role in biological and clinical research. Herein, hollow-channel technique was integrated with lab-on-paper for the simultaneous determination of two different concentrations of Zn 2+ based on the origami principle, in which microfluidic channels were first patterned on a cellulose paper using commercial solid-state wax printer. Hollow-channels were created by laser cutting method as the role of both injecting ending and reaction tank. After screen printing three electrodes system, the resulting planar paper sheets were then folded into steric structures and functionalized by in-situ synthesized reduced graphene oxide. As a proof-of-concept, such lab-on-paper device was employed in the ratiometric electrochemical monitoring of zinc ion from the environment and HepG2 cells extract, by combining with co-catalysis of porous metal-organic frameworks and hemin/G-quadruplex toward H 2 O 2 in the linear range of 0.1-7,000nmol/L. The results indicated that integrating hollow-channel with steric lab-on-paper offered a new methodological approach for the development of metal ions monitoring research. There is a pressing demand for the development of novel birefringent crystals tailored for compact optical components, especially for crystals exhibiting large birefringence across a range of temperatures. This has commonly been achieved by introducing various deformable groups with high polarizability anisotropy. In this study, we combined both rigid and deformable groups to synthesise a new birefringent crystal, Al 2 Te 2 MoO 10 , which demonstrates an exceptional birefringence value of 0.29@550 nm at room temperature. Not only is this higher birefringence than that of commercial crystals, but Al 2 Te 2 MoO 10 exhibits excellent birefringence stability over a wide temperature range, from 123 to 503 K. In addition, the first-principles theory calculations and structural analyses suggest that although the rigid AlO 6 groups do not make much contribution to the prominent birefringence, they nonetheless played a role in maintaining the structural anisotropy at elevated temperatures. Lung cancer is an exceedingly malignant tumor reported as having the highest morbidity and mortality of any cancer worldwide, thus posing a great threat to global health. Despite the growing demand for precision medicine, current methods for early clinical detection, treatment and prognosis monitoring in lung cancer are hampered by certain bottlenecks. Studies have found that during the formation and development of a tumor, molecular substances carrying tumor-related genetic information can be released into body fluids. Liquid biopsy (LB), a method for detecting these tumor-related markers in body fluids, maybe a way to make progress in these bottlenecks. In recent years, LB technology has undergone rapid advancements. Therefore, this review will provide information on technical updates to LB and its potential clinical applications, evaluate its effectiveness for specific applications, discuss the existing limitations of LB, and present a look forward to possible future clinical applications. Specifically, this paper will introduce technical updates from the prospectives of engineering breakthroughs in the detection of membrane-based LB biomarkers and other improvements in sequencing technology. Additionally, it will summarize the latest applications of liquid biopsy for the early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of lung cancer. Aerosols greatly influence precipitation characteristics, thereby impacting the regional climate and human life. As an indispensable factor for cloud formation and a critical radiation budget regulator, aerosols can affect precipitation intensity, frequency, geographical distribution, area, and time. However, discrepancies exist among current studies due to aerosol properties, precipitation types, the vertical location of aerosols and meteorological conditions. The development of technology has driven advances in current research, but understanding the aerosol effects on precipitation remain complex and challenging. This paper revolves around the following topics from the two perspectives of Aerosol-Radiation Interaction (ARI) and Aerosol-Cloud Interaction (ACI): (1) the influence of different vertical locations of absorbing/scattering aerosols on the atmospheric thermal structure; (2) the fundamental theories of ARI reducing surface wind speed, redistributing water vapour and energy, and then modulating precipitation intensity; (3) different aerosol types (absorbing versus scattering) and aerosol concentrations causing different precipitation diurnal and weekly variations; (4) microphysical processes (cloud water competition, invigoration effect, and evaporation cooling) and observational evidence of different effects of aerosols on precipitation intensity, including enhancing, inhibiting, and transitional effects from enhancement to suppression; and (5) how meteorology, water vapor and dynamics influencing the effect of ACI and ARI on precipitation. In addition, this review lists the existing issues and future research directions for attaining a more comprehensive understanding of aerosol effects on precipitation. The emergence of exotic quantum phenomena in frustrated magnets is rapidly driving the development of quantum many-body physics, raising fundamental questions on the nature of quantum phase transitions. Here we unveil the behaviour of emergent symmetry involving two extraordinarily representative phenomena, i.e., the deconfined quantum critical point (DQCP) and the quantum spin liquid (QSL) state. Via large-scale tensor network simulations, we study a spatially anisotropic spin-1/2 square-lattice frustrated antiferromagnetic (AFM) model, namely the J 1x -J 1y -J 2 model, which contains anisotropic nearest-neighbor couplings J 1x ,J 1y and the next nearest neighbor coupling J 2 . For small J 1y /J 1x , by tuning J 2 , a direct continuous transition between the AFM and valence bond solid phase is observed. With growing J 1y /J 1x , a gapless QSL phase gradually emerges between the AFM and VBS phases. We observe an emergent O(4) symmetry along the AFM-VBS transition line, which is consistent with the prediction of DQCP theory. Most surprisingly, we find that such an emergent O(4) symmetry holds for the whole QSL-VBS transition line as well. These findings reveal the intrinsic relationship between the QSL and DQCP from categorical symmetry point of view, and strongly constrain the quantum field theory description of the QSL phase. The exponential growth of stationary energy storage systems (ESSs) and electric vehicles (EVs) necessitates a more profound understanding of the degradation behavior of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), with specific emphasis on their lifetime. Accurately forecasting the lifetime of batteries under various working stresses aids in optimizing their operating conditions, prolonging their longevity, and ultimately minimizing the overall cost of the battery life cycle. Accelerated aging, as an efficient and economical method, can output sufficient cycling information in short time, which enables a rapid prediction of the lifetime of LIBs under various working stresses. Nevertheless, the prerequisite for accelerated aging-based battery lifetime prediction is the consistency of aging mechanisms. This review, by comprehensively summarizing the aging mechanisms of various components within LIBs and the battery degradation mechanisms under stress-accelerated conditions, provides a reference for evaluating the consistency of battery aging mechanisms. The non-Hermitian skin effect is a distinctive phenomenon in non-Hermitian systems, which manifests as the anomalous localization of bulk states at the boundary. To understand the physical origin of the non-Hermitian skin effect, a bulk band characterization based on the dynamical degeneracy on an equal frequency contour is proposed, which reflects the strong anisotropy of the spectral function. In this paper, we report the experimental observation of a newly-discovered geometry-dependent non-Hermitian skin effect and dynamical degeneracy splitting in a two-dimensional acoustic crystal and reveal their remarkable correspondence by performing single-frequency excitation measurements. Efficient electrode design is crucial for the electrochemical reduction of CO 2 to produce valuable chemicals. The solution used for the preparation of electrodes can affect their overall properties, which in turn determine the reaction efficiency. In this work, we report that transition metal salts could induce the change of two-phase ionic liquid/ethanol mixture into miscible one phase. Pre-phase separation region near the phase boundary of the ternary system was observed. Zinc nanoparticles were electro-deposited along the fibres of carbon paper (CP) substrate uniformly in the salt-induced pre-phase separation region solution. The as-prepared Zn(1)/CP electrode exhibits super-wettability to the electrolyte, rendering very high catalytic performance for CO 2 electro-reduction, and the Faradaic efficiency towards CO is 97.6% with a current density of 340 mA cm - 2 , which is the best result to date in an H-type cell., Competing Interests: Conflict of interest The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2023 Science China Press. The time evolution of a physical system is generally described by a differential equation, which can be solved numerically by adopting a difference scheme with space-time discretization. This discretization, as a numerical artifact, results in accumulated errors during evolution and thus usually plays a negative role in simulations. In a quantum circuit, however, the "evolution time" is represented by the depth of the circuit layer, and thus is intrinsically discrete. Hence, the discretization-induced error therein is not a numerical artifact, but a physical observable effect responsible for remarkable nonequilibrium phenomena absent in conventional quantum dynamics. In this paper, we show that the combination of measurement feedback and temporal discretization can give rise to a new type of quantum dynamics. As physical consequences of this interactive quantum dynamics, a nonequilibrium steady state with spontaneous symmetry breaking is revealed in a zero-dimensional (single-qubit) system. Tactile perception is the basis of human motion. Achieving artificial tactility is one of the challenges in the fields of smart robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), because touch emulation relies on high-performance pressure sensor arrays, signal reading, information processing, and feedback control. In this paper, we report an integrated intelligent tactile system (IITS) that is integrated with a humanoid robot to achieve human-like artificial tactile perception. The IITS is a closed-loop system that includes a multi-channel tactile sensing e-skin, a data acquisition and information processing chip, and a feedback control. With customized preset values of threshold pressures, the IITS-integrated robot can flexibly grasp various objects. Recently, the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) have increased rapidly. To further increase the PCE of all-PSCs, it is necessary to create new donor polymers matching the polymer acceptors. In this paper, we synthesize a new quinoxaline-based polymer donor PBQ8 with n-octyl side chain on the quinoxaline unit, which possesses the same skeleton structure to the previously reported PBQ5 (with isooctyl side chain). The effects of alkyl side chains on the physicochemical properties of the polymer donor were investigated. In comparison with PBQ5, PBQ8 exhibits stronger intermolecular interactions and better molecular packing. When blending with polymer acceptor PY-IT, the PBQ8:PY-IT based devices demonstrated a higher PCE value of 17.04%, which is one of the highest PCEs occurred in the all-PSCs. And the PBQ5:PY-IT (PCE 15.56%, V oc 0.907 V, FF 69.72%, and J sc 24.60 mA cm -2 ) is much lower. The PBQ8:PY-IT blend displayed more efficient exciton dissociation, better molecular stacking properties, preferable phase separation and higher mobility. The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides an important framework for economic, social, and environmental action. A comprehensive indicator system to aid in the systematic implementation and monitoring of progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is unfortunately limited in many countries due to lack of data. The availability of a growing amount of multi-source data and rapid advancements in big data methods and infrastructure provide unique opportunities to mitigate these data shortages and develop innovative methodologies for comparatively monitoring SDGs. Big Earth Data, a special class of big data with spatial attributes, holds tremendous potential to facilitate science, technology, and innovation toward implementing SDGs around the world. Several programs and initiatives in China have invested in Big Earth Data infrastructure and capabilities, and have successfully carried out case studies to demonstrate their utility in sustainability science. This paper presents implementations of Big Earth Data in evaluating SDG indicators, including the development of new algorithms, indicator expansion (for SDG 11.4.1) and indicator extension (for SDG 11.3.1), introduction of a biodiversity risk index as a more effective analysis method for SDG 15.5.1, and several new high-quality data products, such as global net ecosystem productivity, high-resolution global mountain green cover index, and endangered species richness. Despite fluctuations in embryo size within a species, the spatial gene expression pattern and hence the embryonic structure can nonetheless maintain the correct proportion to the embryo size. This is known as the scaling phenomenon. For morphogen-induced patterning of gene expression, the positional information encoded in the local morphogen concentrations is decoded by the downstream genetic network (the decoder). In this paper, we show that the requirement of scaling sets severe constraints on the geometric structure of such a local decoder, which in turn enables deduction of mutants' behavior and extraction of regulation information without going into any molecular details. We demonstrate that the Drosophila gap gene system achieves scaling in the way consistent with our theory-the decoder geometry required by scaling correctly accounts for the observed gap gene expression pattern in nearly all maternal morphogen mutants. Furthermore, the regulation logic and the coding/decoding strategy of the gap gene system can also be revealed from the decoder geometry. How various peoples crossed geographical barriers, were affected by climate change and human-made technologies comprise some of the most interesting quandaries in the history of cultures. This paper considers the Hu line, which is a major boundary between population centres and different environments in China. The boundary became evident approximately 11,400 years ago; however, evidence suggests that people crossed through at 5200, 3800, and 2800 cal a BP, facilitating the increases of the trans-Eurasian exchange. The timings of the crossings correspond to the weakening of the East Asian summer monsoon that triggers seesaw changes of precipitation in western and eastern China. The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is well suitable for searching for monochromatic and sharp γ-ray structures in the GeV-TeV range thanks to its unprecedented high energy resolution. In this work, we search for γ-ray line structures using five years of DAMPE data. To improve the sensitivity, we develop two types of dedicated data sets (including the BgoOnly data which is the first time to be used in the data analysis for the calorimeter-based gamma-ray observatories) and adopt the signal-to-noise ratio optimized regions of interest (ROIs) for different DM density profiles. No line signals or candidates are found between 10 and 300 GeV in the Galaxy. The constraints on the velocity-averaged cross section for χχ→γγ and the decay lifetime for χ→γν, both at 95% confidence level, have been calculated and the systematic uncertainties have been taken into account. Comparing to the previous Fermi-LAT results, though DAMPE has an acceptance smaller by a factor of ∼10, similar constraints on the DM parameters are achieved and below 100 GeV the lower limits on the decay lifetime are even stronger by a factor of a few. With the rapid development of microwave photonics technology, high-speed processing and ultra-weak signal detection capability have become the main bottlenecks in many applications. Thanks to the ultra-weak signal detection capability and the extremely low timing jitter properties of single-photon detectors, the combination of single-photon detection and classical microwave photonics technology may provide a solution to break the above bottlenecks. In this paper, we first report a novel concept of single-photon microwave photonics (SP-MWP), a SP-MWP signal processing system with phase shifting and frequency filtering functionalities is demonstrated based on a superconducting nanowire single photon detector (SNSPD) and a successive time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) module. Experimental results show that an ultrahigh optical sensitivity down to -100 dBm has been achieved, and the signal processing bandwidth is only limited by the timing jitter of single-photon detectors. In the meantime, the proposed system demonstrates an ultrahigh anti-interference capability, only the signal which is phase locked by the trigger signal in TCSPC can be extracted from the detected signals combining with noise and strong interference. Restricted genetic diversity can supply only a limited number of elite genes for modern plant cultivation and transgenesis. In this study, we demonstrate that rational design enables the engineering of geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase (NtGGPPS), an enzyme of the methylerythritol phosphate pathway (MEP) in the model plant Nicotiana tabacum. As the crucial bottleneck in carotenoid biosynthesis, NtGGPPS1 interacts with phytoene synthase (NtPSY1) to channel GGPP into the production of carotenoids. Loss of this enzyme in the ntggpps1 mutant leads to decreased carotenoid accumulation. With the aim of enhancing NtGGPPS1 activity, we undertook structure-guided rational redesign of its substrate binding pocket in combination with sequence alignment. The activity of the designed NtGGPPS1 (a pentuple mutant of five sites V154A/I161L/F218Y/I209S/V233E, d-NtGGPPS1) was measured by a high-throughput colorimetric assay. d-NtGGPPS1 exhibited significantly higher conversion of IPP and each co-substrate (DMAPP ~1995.5-fold, GPP ~25.9-fold, and FPP ~16.7-fold) for GGPP synthesis compared with wild-type NtGGPPS1. Importantly, the transient and stable expression of d-NtGGPPS1 in the ntggpps1 mutant increased carotenoid levels in leaves, improved photosynthetic efficiency, and increased biomass relative to NtGGPPS1. These findings provide a firm basis for the engineering of GGPPS and will facilitate the development of quality and yield traits. In a recent measurement LHCb reported pronounced structures in the J/ψJ/ψ spectrum. One of the various possible explanations of those is that they emerge from non-perturbative interactions of vector charmonia. It is thus important to understand whether it is possible to form a bound state of two charmonia interacting through the exchange of gluons, which hadronise into two pions at the longest distance. In this paper, we demonstrate that, given our current understanding of hadron-hadron interactions, the exchange of correlated light mesons (pions and kaons) is able to provide sizeable attraction to the di-J/ψ system, and it is possible for two J/ψ mesons to form a bound state. As a side result we find from an analysis of the data for the ψ(2S)→J/ψππ transition including both ππ and KK¯ final state interactions an improved value for the ψ(2S)→J/ψ transition chromo-electric polarisability: |α ψ(2S)J/ψ |=(1.8±0.1)GeV -3 , where the uncertainty also includes the one induced by the final state interactions., Competing Interests: Conflict of interest The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2021 Science China Press. This paper presents projections of climate extremes over China under global warming of 1.5, 2, and 3 °C above pre-industrial (1861-1900), based on the latest Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6 (CMIP6) simulations. Results are compared with what produced by the precedent phase of the project, CMIP5. Model evaluation for the reference period (1985-2005) indicates that CMIP6 models outperform their predecessors in CMIP5, especially in simulating precipitation extremes. Areal averages for changes of most indices are found larger in CMIP6 than in CMIP5. The emblematic annual mean temperature, when averaged over the whole of China in CMIP6, increases by 1.49, 2.21, and 3.53 °C (relative to 1985-2005) for 1.5, 2, and 3 °C above-preindustrial global warming levels, while the counterpart in CMIP5 is 1.20, 1.93 and 3.39 °C respectively. Similarly, total precipitation increases by 5.3%, 8.6%, and 16.3% in CMIP6 and by 4.4%, 7.0% and 12.8% in CMIP5, respectively. The spatial distribution of changes for extreme indices is generally consistent in both CMIP5 and CMIP6, but with significantly higher increases in CMIP6 over Northeast and Northwest China for the hottest day temperature, and South China for the coldest night temperature. In the south bank of the Yangtze River, and most regions around 40°N, CMIP6 shows higher increases for both total precipitation and heavy precipitation. BeiDou Global Navigation Satellite System (BDS-3) not only performs the normal positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) functions, but also provides featured services, which are divided into geostationary orbit (GEO) and medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite-based featured services in this paper. The former refers to regional services consisting of the regional short message communication service (RSMCS), the radio determination satellite service (RDSS), the BDS satellite-based augmented service (BDSBAS) and the satellite-based precise point positioning service via B2b signal (B2b-PPP). The latter refers to global services consisting of the global short message communication service (GSMCS) and the MEO satellite-based search and rescue (MEOSAR) service. The focus of this paper is to describe these featured services and evaluate their performances. The results show that the inter-satellite link (ISL) contributes a lot to the accuracy improvement of orbit determination and time synchronization for the whole constellation. Compared with some other final products, the root mean squares (RMS) of the BDS-3 precise orbits and broadcast clock are 25.1 cm and 2.01 ns, respectively. The positioning accuracy of single frequency is better than 6 m, and that of the generalized RDSS is usually better than 12 m. For featured services, the success rates of RSMCS and GSMCS are better than 99.9% and 95.6%, respectively; the positioning accuracies of single and dual frequency BDSBAS are better than 3 and 2 m, respectively; the positioning accuracy of B2b-PPP is better than 0.6 m, and the convergence time is usually smaller than 30 min; the single station test shows that the success rate of MEOSAR is better than 99%. Topological phases in non-Hermitian systems have become fascinating subjects recently. In this paper, we attempt to classify topological phases in 1D interacting non-Hermitian systems. We begin with the non-Hermitian generalization of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model and discuss its many-body topological Berry phase, which is well defined for all interacting quasi-Hermitian systems (non-Hermitian systems that have real energy spectrum). We then demonstrate that the classification of topological phases for quasi-Hermitian systems is exactly the same as their Hermitian counterparts. Finally, we construct the fixed point partition function for generic 1D interacting non-Hermitian local systems and find that the fixed point partition function still has a one-to-one correspondence to their Hermitian counterparts. Since the world's first triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) was proposed in 2012, numerous TENG-based devices and equipment have sprung up in various fields. In particular, TENG has great potential in the field of human-health care due to its small size, self-powered and low cost. With the continuous deepening of TENG research, its structure, function and technical concept are becoming more and more abundant. In order to summarize the progress and development status of TENG in health care, based on the different types of applications subdirection, this paper reviews the TENG-based research work of this field in recent eight years. The characteristics of various types of TENG-based applications and their corresponding technologies are introduced and analyzed, under the comparison of their structure and performance. The development of high-performance glucose sensors is an urgent need, especially for diabetes mellitus diagnosis. However, the glucose monitoring is conventionally operated in an invasive finger-prick manner and their noninvasive alternatives largely suffered from the relatively poor sensitivity, selectivity, and stability, resulted from the lack of robust and efficient catalysts. In this paper, we design a concave shaped nitrogen-doped carbon framework embellished with single Co site catalyst (Co SSC) by selectively controlling the etching rate on different facet of carbon substrate, which is beneficial to the diffusion and contact of analyte. The Co SSC prompts a significant improvement in the sensitivity of the solution-gated graphene transistor (SGGT) devices, with three orders of magnitude better than those of SGGT devices without catalysts. Taiji, a space-based gravitational-wave observatory, consists of three satellites forming an equilateral triangle with arm length of 3×10 6 km, orbiting around the Sun. Taiji is able to observe the gravitational-wave standard siren events of massive black hole binary (MBHB) merger, which is helpful in probing the expansion of the universe. In this paper, we preliminarily forecast the capability of Taiji for improving cosmological parameter estimation with the gravitational-wave standard siren data. We simulate five-year standard siren data based on three fiducial cosmological models and three models of MBHB's formation and growth. It is found that the standard siren data from Taiji can effectively break the cosmological parameter degeneracies generated by the cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies data, especially for dynamical dark energy models. The constraints on cosmological parameters are significantly improved by the data combination CMB + Taiji, compared to the CMB data alone. Compared to the current optical cosmological observations, Taiji can still provide help in improving the cosmological parameter estimation to some extent. In addition, we consider an ideal scenario to investigate the potential of Taiji on constraining cosmological parameters. Recently, the newly booming metal halide perovskites have attracted extensive attention worldwide due to their outstanding optoelectronic performance, and are expected to be ideal candidates for photodetectors (PDs). However, there is still lack of perovskite PDs-based imaging devices coming into commercialization stage, due to some practical reasons including toxicity brought by lead-based perovskites and the large light current fluctuations. In this paper, for the first time we fabricate a lead-free Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 perovskite PD, and build a prototype of this perovskite PD-based imaging system with diffuse reflection imaging mode. Moreover, we propose a new parameter F related to light current fluctuation to evaluate imaging performance of a PD especially for weak diffuse light condition, and prove its usability by comparison of unoptimized lead-free Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 perovskite PD and atomic layer deposition (ALD) optimized Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 PD. ALD-optimization can improve the quality of perovskite film and suppress the dark current and current fluctuation. Finally, we obtain satisfactory diffuse reflection images of 2D and 3D objects with wide dynamic range. Antimony-based materials with high theoretical capacity are known as promising anodes for potassium-ion batteries (PIBs). However, they still face challenges from the large ionic radius of the K ion, which has sluggish kinetics. Much effort is needed to exploit high-performance electrode materials to satisfy the reversible capacity of PIBs. In this paper, nano Sb confined in N-doped carbon fibers (Sb@CN nanofibers) were successfully prepared through an electrospinning method, which was designed to improve potassium storage performances. Sb@CN nanofibers benefit from the fact that the synergy between the porous nanofiber frame structure and the uniformly distributed Sb nano-components in the carbon matrix can effectively accelerate the ion migration rate and reduce the mechanical stress caused by K + insertion/extraction, Sb@CN nanofiber electrodes thus exhibited excellent potassium storage performance, especially long cycle stability, as expected. When utilized as a PIB anode, they delivered high reversible capacity of 360.2 mAh g -1 after 200 cycles at 50 mA g -1 , and a particularly stable capacity of 212.7 mAh g -1 was also obtained after 1000 cycles even at 5000 mA g -1 . Detailed and precise urban land-cover maps are crucial for urban-related studies. However, there are limited ways of mapping high-resolution urban land cover over large areas. In this paper, we propose an operational framework to map urban land cover on the basis of Ziyuan-3 satellite images. Based on this framework, we produced the first high-resolution (2 m) urban land-cover map (Hi-ULCM) covering the 42 major cities of China. The overall accuracy of the Hi-ULCM dataset is 88.55%, of which 14 cities have an overall accuracy of over 90%. Most of the producer's accuracies and user's accuracies of the land-cover classes exceed 85%. We further conducted a landscape pattern analysis in the 42 cities based on Hi-ULCM. In terms of the comparison between the 42 cities in China, we found that the difference in the land-cover composition of urban areas is related to the climatic characteristics and urbanization levels, e.g., cities with warm climates generally have higher proportions of green spaces. It is also interesting to find that cities with higher urbanization levels are more habitable, in general. From the landscape viewpoint, the geometric complexity of the landscape increases with the urbanization level. Hollow structuring has been intensively studied as an effective strategy to improve the electrochemical performance of the electrode materials for rechargeable batteries in terms of specific capacity, rate capability, and cycling performance. To date, hollow structured anode materials have been extensively investigated, while hollow structured cathode materials (HSCMs) are relatively less explored because of the difficulties in morphological control as well as the concern of reduced volumetric capacities. In this paper, we provide an overview of the research advances in the synthesis and evolution of HSCMs for metal (Li, Na, etc.) ion batteries. Attributing to the advantages of hollow structures including high surface area, excellent accessibility to active sites, and enhanced mass transport and diffusion, hollow structuring can significantly improve the performance of high-capacity cathode materials with low kinetics, such as lithium rich layered oxides, silicates, and V 2 O 5 . In this paper, we use the theory of quantum optics and electrodynamics to study the electromagnetic field problem in the nervous system based on the assumption of an ordered arrangement of water molecules on the neuronal surface. Using the Lagrangian of the water molecule-field ion, the dynamic equations for neural signal generation and transmission are derived. Perturbation theory and the numerical method are used to solve the dynamic equations, and the characteristics of high-frequency signals (the dispersion relation, the time domain of the field, the frequency domain waveform, etc.) are discussed. This model predicts some intrinsic vibration modes of electromagnetic radiation on the neuronal surface. Hollow metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their derivatives have attracted more and more attention due to their high specific surface area and perfect morphological structure, which determine their large potential application in energy storage and catalysis fields. However, few researchers have carried out further modification on the outer shell of hollow MOFs, such as the perforation modification, which will endow hollow nanomaterials derived from MOFs with multifunctionality. In this paper, hollow MOFs of MIL-53(Fe) with perforated outer surface are successfully synthesized by using SiO 2 nanospheres as the template via a self-assembly process induced by the coordination polymerization. The tightly packed mesopore structure makes the carbon outer shell of MOFs thinner, thus realizing the in-situ transformation from MOFs to hollow Fe 3 O 4 /carbon, which exhibits perfect capacity approaching 1270 mA h g -1 even after 200 cycles at 0.1 A g -1 , as an anode material in lithium ion batteries (LIBs) application. Third generation semiconductors for piezotronics and piezo-phototronics, such as ZnO and GaN, have both piezoelectric and semiconducting properties. Piezotronic devices normally exhibit high strain sensitivity because strain-induced piezoelectric charges control or tune the carrier transport at junctions, contacts and interfaces. The distribution width of piezoelectric charges in a junction is one of important parameters. Capacitance-voltage (C-V) characteristics can be used to estimate the distribution width of strain-induced piezoelectric charges. In order to develop efficient photocatalysts, great efforts have been made to reduce hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium. The photocatalytic efficiency of this reduction depends largely on the adsorption and diffusion of hexavalent chromium ions on the surface of the photocatalyst. In this paper, polyaniline-TiO 2 composite can effectively improve the photocatalytic reduction performance and stability of hexavalent chromium ion. The effect of polyaniline (PANI) thickness on Cr(VI) activity and stability of photocatalytic reduction was studied by adjusting the content of PANI on Mesoporous TiO 2 (MT) surface. Under the irradiation conditions, the reaction results showed that the reduction rate was 100%, and the maximum reaction rate reached 0.62 min -1 when the PANI modification was 3.0%. Moreover, the results showed that the reduction performance remained 100% after ten cycles. The main reason is that the PANI modified on the surface of TiO 2 is rich in positively charged amino group, which can efficiently adsorb the reactant Cr(VI), and make the product Cr(III) leave the reaction interface quickly, thus ensuring the performance of photocatalyst., (Copyright © 2019 Science China Press. "Device-independent" not only represents a relaxation of the security assumptions about the internal working of the quantum devices, but also can enhance the security of the quantum communication. In the paper, we put forward the first device-independent quantum secure direct communication (DI-QSDC) protocol and analyze its security and communication efficiency against collective attacks. Under practical noisy quantum channel condition, the photon transmission loss and photon state decoherence would reduce DI-QSDC's communication quality and threaten its absolute security. For solving the photon transmission loss and decoherence problems, we adopt noiseless linear amplification (NLA) protocol and entanglement purification protocol (EPP) to modify the DI-QSDC protocol. Since the nanogenerator (NG) was invented in 2006, it has been successfully developed and utilized to harvest various forms of mechanical energy in vivo. The NGs promote the progress of self-powered biomedical devices. Moreover, NGs can also be used as sensors to detect a variety of important physiological signals, which brings us closer to real-time, high-fidelity monitoring of physical and pathological information. This paper summarizes the in vivo applications of NGs as biomedical sensors, including in cardiac sensors, respiration sensors, blood pressure sensors, gastrointestinal sensors and bladder sensors. However, there are still many challenges in using NGs as sensors in vivo. For example, how can we minimize and encapsulate the NGs, how can we increase the stability and reliability during long-term detection, and how can we establish a corresponding relationship between the NG's electrical output and the physiological signals. It is also critical to follow the medical principles more closely in the development of self-powered sensors in the future. Despite the usage of both experimental and topological methods, realizing a rapid and accurate measurement of the onset temperature (T g ) of Ge x Se 1- glass transition remains an open challenge. In this paper, a predictive model for the T x glass transition remains an open challenge. In this paper, a predictive model for the T g in Ge x Se 1- x glass system is presented by a machine learning method named feature selection based two-stage support vector regression (FSTS-SVR). Firstly, Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) is used to select features highly correlated with T g from the candidate features of Ge x Se 1- x glass system. Secondly, in order to simulate the two-stage characteristic of T g which is caused by structural variation with a turning point at x = 0.33 via the structural analysis, SVR is utilized to build predictive models for two stages separately and then the two achieved models are synthesized using a minimum error based model for T g prediction. Compared with the topological and other methods based on SVR, the FSTS-SVR gives the highest predictive accuracy with the root mean square error (RMSE) and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 10.64 K and 2.38%, respectively. Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a devastating traumatic injury that causes persistent, severe motor and sensory dysfunction. Immune responses are involved in functional recovery after SCI. Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma translocation 1 (MALT1) has been shown to regulate the survival and differentiation of immune cells and to play a critical role in many diseases, but its function in lesion recovery after SCI remains unclear. In this paper, we generated KI (knock in) mice with a point mutation (C472G) in the active center of MALT1 and found that the KI mice exhibited improved functional recovery after SCI. Fewer macrophages were recruited to the injury site in KI mice and these macrophages differentiated into anti-inflammatory macrophages. Moreover, macrophages from KI mice exhibited reduced phosphorylation of p65, which in turn resulted in decreased SOCS3 expression and increased pSTAT6 levels. Similar results were obtained upon inhibition of MALT1 paracaspase with the small molecule inhibitor "MI-2" or the more specific inhibitor "MLT-827". In patients with SCI, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) displayed increased MALT1 paracaspase. Human macrophages showed reduced pro-inflammatory and increased anti-inflammatory characteristics following the inhibition of MALT1 paracaspase. Impervious surfaces are the most significant feature of human settlements. Timely, accurate, and frequent information on impervious surfaces is critical in both social-economic and natural environment applications. Over the past 40 years, impervious surface areas in China have grown rapidly. However, annual maps of impervious areas in China with high spatial details do not exist during this period. In this paper, we made use of reliable impervious surface mapping algorithms that we published before and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform to address this data gap. With available data in GEE, we were able to map impervious surfaces over the entire country circa 1978, and during 1985-2017 at an annual frequency. The 1978 data were at 60-m resolution, while the 1985-2017 data were in 30-m resolution. For the 30-m resolution data, we evaluated the accuracies for 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015. Overall accuracies reached more than 90%. Our results indicate that the growth of impervious surface in China was not only fast but also considerably exceeding the per capita impervious surface area in developed countries like Japan. The 40-year continuous and consistent impervious surface distribution data in China would generate widespread interests in the research and policy-making community. w-Projection is a wide-field imaging technique that is widely used in radio synthesis arrays. Processing the wide-field big data generated by the future Square Kilometre Array (SKA) will require significant updates to current methods to significantly reduce the time consumed on data processing. Data loading and gridding are found to be two major time-consuming tasks in w-projection. In this paper, we investigate two parallel methods of accelerating w-projection processing on multiple nodes: the hybrid Message Passing Interface (MPI) and Open Multi-Processing (OpenMP) method based on multicore Central Processing Units (CPUs) and the hybrid MPI and Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) method based on Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Both methods are successfully employed and operated in various computational environments, confirming their robustness. The experimental results show that the total runtime of both MPI + OpenMP and MPI + CUDA methods is significantly shorter than that of single-thread processing. MPI + CUDA generally shows faster performance when running on multiple nodes than MPI + OpenMP, especially on large numbers of nodes. The single-precision GPU-based processing yields faster computation than the double-precision processing; while the single- and double-precision CPU-based processing shows consistent computational performance. The gridding time remarkably increases when the support size of the convolution kernel is larger than 8 and the image size is larger than 2,048 pixels. In this paper, we apply the K-theory to classify topological trivial fermionic phases which, nonetheless, host symmetry-protected non-trivial defects. The Cryosphere has been undergoing a worldwide retreat, as seen in the decrease in the areal extent and volume of glaciers and in the areal extent of permafrost. This paper presents a systematic examination of the inherent stability changes of glaciers and permafrost caused by warming. Various study results suggest that over the past 30 years, the internal temperature of glaciers and permafrost exhibits an overall accelerating warming trend. The warming rate peaked in the mid-2000s and slowed slightly for several years afterward. In recent years, however, the warming rate has seemed to pick up again. The warming of glaciers and permafrost has exerted great impact on their stability, displayed as intensified melting, increased glacier surging, enlargement of supraglacial lakes, and increased permafrost degradation. Even without a future temperature increase, some glaciers will continue to shrink, and the number of surging glaciers will increase. The transition from low-temperature to high-temperature permafrost is a noticeable warning sign of a comprehensive degradation of permafrost. These results indicate that "warming" glaciers and permafrost will exert significant impacts on the hydrology, ecology, and stability of engineering in cold regions., (Copyright © 2019 Science China Press. Water electrolysis is considered to be an effective way to fabricate hydrogen, and it is desirable to find the highly efficient, inexpensive and good durability bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water splitting. In this paper, we synthesis a unique structured catalyst that was composed by Co 9 S 8 nanowires and nickel cobalt layered double hydroxide (NiCo-LDH) nanosheets. The ultrathin nanosheets decorated on the Co 9 S 8 nanoarrays offer large specific surface area, numerous active edge sites and excellent electrical conductivity for fast electron transfer. Benefiting from this heterogeneous structure, the catalyst presents excellent catalytic performance in alkaline media. It requires 168 mV to reach current density of 10 mA/cm 2 for HER and 278 mV to reach current density of 30 mA/cm 2 for OER. When used as electrode in a homemade two-electrode system, it only needs t a voltage of 1.63 V to achieve current densities of 10 mA/cm 2 , which proves Co 9 S 8 @NiCo LDH/NF as a superior bifunctional catalyst for water splitting., (Copyright © 2019 Science China Press. Rapid declines in Arctic sea ice have captured attention and pose significant challenges to a variety of stakeholders. There is a rising demand for Arctic sea ice prediction at daily to seasonal time scales, which is partly a sea ice initial condition problem. Thus, a multivariate data assimilation that integrates sea ice observations to generate realistic and skillful model initialization is needed to improve predictive skill of Arctic sea ice. Sea ice data assimilation is a relatively new research area. In this review paper, we focus on two challenges for implementing multivariate data assimilation systems for sea ice forecast. First, to address the challenge of limited spatiotemporal coverage and large uncertainties of observations, we discuss sea ice parameters derived from satellite remote sensing that (1) have been utilized for improved model initialization, including concentration, thickness and drift, and (2) are currently under development with the potential for enhancing the predictability of Arctic sea ice, including melt ponds and sea ice leads. Second, to strive to generate the "best" estimate of sea ice initial conditions by combining model simulations/forecasts and observations, we review capabilities and limitations of different data assimilation techniques that have been developed and used to assimilate observed sea ice parameters in dynamical models., (Copyright © 2018 Science China Press. On September 28, 2018, a Mw7.5 earthquake occurred near Sulawesi, Indonesia as a result of strike-slip faulting at shallow depth within the interior of the Molucca Sea Microplate that forms a part of the broader Sunda Plate. Focal mechanism solutions and distribution for the earthquakes indicate rupture occurred on a left-lateral NNW-SSE- to N-S-striking fault. This region has been characterized by complex tectonics in which motions of numerous small microplates are accommodating large-scale convergence between the Australia, Sunda, Pacific and Philippine Sea plates. In this paper, the Coulomb stress calculation verified the WNW-, nearly E-W-trending sinistral strike slip receiver fault in Sulawesi, which is consistent with the giant sinisterly strike-slip fault system across New Guinea, Pacific Tectonic System and the Tethys Tectonic System caused by the oblique convergence. The first Chinese Carbon Dioxide Observation Satellite Mission (TanSat), which was launched on December 21, 2016, is intended to measure atmospheric CO 2 concentration. The high spectral resolution (0.044 nm) and high SNR (360 at 15.2 mW m -1  sr -1  nm -1 ) measurements in the region of the O 2 -A band of the Atmospheric Carbon dioxide Grating Spectroradiometer (AGCS) module onboard TanSat make it possible to retrieve solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) from TanSat observations at the global scale. This paper aims to explore the potential of the TanSat data for global SIF retrieval. A singular vector decomposition (SVD) statistical method was employed to retrieve SIF using radiance over a micro spectral window (∼2 nm) around the Fe Fraunhofer lines (centered at 758.8 nm). The global SIF at 758.8 nm was successfully retrieved with a low residual error of 0.03 mW m -1  sr -1  nm -1 . The results show that the spatial and temporal patterns of the retrieved SIF agree well with the global terrestrial vegetation pattern. The monthly SIF products retrieved from the TanSat data were compared with other remote sensing datasets, including OCO-2 SIF, MODIS NDVI, EVI and GPP. The overall consistency between TanSat and OCO-2 SIF products (R 2  = 0.86) and the consistency of the spatial patterns and temporal variations between the TanSat SIF and MODIS vegetation indices and GPP enhance our confidence in the potential and feasibility of TanSat data for SIF retrieval. TanSat, therefore, provides a new opportunity for global sampling of SIF at fine spatial resolution (2 km × 2 km), thus improving photosynthesis observations from space., (Copyright © 2018 Science China Press.
