2. Facile ring opening of oxiranes with aromatic amines in fluoro alcohols

Abstract

Results show that aromatic amines and the corresponding amino alcohols can be synthesized by opening the epoxide ring using hexafluoro-2-propanol. Data indicate that the compound deactivates alkylamines facilitating ring opening in oxiranes.

3. A highly Beta-stereoselective catalytic epoxidation of Delta(super5)-unsaturated steroids with a novel ruthenium(II) complex under aerobic conditions

Abstract

It has recently been shown that ruthenium(II) bioxazoline complex is an efficient alkene epoxidation catalyst, with high selectivity. The catalyst was examined for stereoselective epoxidation of Delta(super5)-unsaturated steroids. Under aerobic conditions it is shown that the usually problematical Beta-epoxidation of Delta(super5)-unsaturated steroids can be undertaken conveniently, in high yields in a sort space of time.
