Facile ring opening of oxiranes with aromatic amines in fluoro alcohols

Results show that aromatic amines and the corresponding amino alcohols can be synthesized by opening the epoxide ring using hexafluoro-2-propanol. Data indicate that the compound deactivates alkylamines facilitating ring opening in oxiranes.
