The article discusses the possible victory of the Syrian government under President Bashar al-Assad in the Syria's Civil War, within the context of the government's gains in the campaign for Aleppo, Syria. The author claims that if Assad wins the war against rebel groups, he will have to contend with a poor economy and a post-war insurgency. Russia and Iran's potential roles in Syria's postwar future are discussed.
