Defect detection constitutes one of the most crucial processes in industrial production. With a continuous increase in the number of defect categories and samples, the defect detection model underpinned by deep learning finds it challenging to expand to new categories, and the accuracy and real-time performance of product defect detection are also confronted with severe challenges. This paper addresses the problem of insufficient detection accuracy of existing lightweight models on resource-constrained edge devices by presenting a new lightweight YoloV5 model, which integrates four modules, SCDown, GhostConv, RepNCSPELAN4, and ScalSeq. Here, this paper abbreviates it as SGRS-YoloV5n. Through the incorporation of these modules, the model notably enhances feature extraction and computational efficiency while reducing the model size and computational load, making it more conducive for deployment on edge devices. Furthermore, a cloud-edge collaborative defect detection system is constructed to improve detection accuracy and efficiency through initial detection by edge devices, followed by additional inspection by cloud servers. An incremental learning mechanism is also introduced, enabling the model to adapt promptly to new defect categories and update its parameters accordingly. Experimental results reveal that the SGRS-YoloV5n model exhibits superior detection accuracy and real-time performance, validating its value and stability for deployment in resource-constrained environments. The model network based on YOLOv8 for detecting race cones and buckets in the Formula Unmanned Competition for Chinese university students needs help with problems with complex structure, redundant number of parameters, and computation, significantly affecting detection efficiency. A lightweight detection model based on YOLOv8 is proposed to address these problems. The model includes improving the backbone network, neck network, and detection head, as well as introducing knowledge distillation and other techniques to construct a lightweight model. The specific improvements are as follows: firstly, the backbone network for extracting features is improved by introducing the ADown module in YOLOv9 to replace the convolution module used for downsampling in the YOLOv8 network, and secondly, the FasterBlock in FasterNet network was introduced to replace the fusion module in YOLOv8 C2f, and then the self-developed lightweight detection head was introduced to improve the detection performance while achieving lightweight. Finally, the detection performance was further improved by knowledge distillation. The experimental results on the public dataset FSACOCO show that the improved model's accuracy, recall, and average precision are 92.7%, 84.6%, and 91%, respectively. Compared with the original YOLOv8n detection model, the recall and average precision increase by 2.7 and 1.2 percentage points, the memory is half the original, and the model computation is 51%. The model significantly reduces the misdetection and leakage of conical buckets in real-vehicle tests and, at the same time, ensures the detection speed to satisfy the deployment requirements on tiny devices. Human action recognition based on optical and infrared video data is greatly affected by the environment, and feature extraction in traditional machine learning classification methods is complex; therefore, this paper proposes a method for human action recognition using Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar based on an asymmetric convolutional residual network. First, the radar echo data are analyzed and processed to extract the micro-Doppler time domain spectrograms of different actions. Second, a strategy combining asymmetric convolution and the Mish activation function is adopted in the residual block of the ResNet18 network to address the limitations of linear and nonlinear transformations in the residual block for micro-Doppler spectrum recognition. This approach aims to enhance the network's ability to learn features effectively. Finally, the Improved Convolutional Block Attention Module (ICBAM) is integrated into the residual block to enhance the model's attention and comprehension of input data. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a high accuracy of 98.28% in action recognition and classification within complex scenes, surpassing classic deep learning approaches. With the continuous advancement of the economy and technology, the number of cars continues to increase, and the traffic congestion problem on some key roads is becoming increasingly serious. This paper proposes a new vehicle information feature map (VIFM) method and a multi-branch convolutional neural network (MBCNN) model and applies it to the problem of traffic congestion detection based on camera image data. The aim of this study is to build a deep learning model with traffic images as input and congestion detection results as output. It aims to provide a new method for automatic detection of traffic congestion. The deep learning-based method in this article can effectively utilize the existing massive camera network in the transportation system without requiring too much investment in hardware. This study first uses an object detection model to identify vehicles in images. Then, a method for extracting a VIFM is proposed. Finally, a traffic congestion detection model based on MBCNN is constructed. This paper verifies the application effect of this method in the Chinese City Traffic Image Database (CCTRIB). Compared to other convolutional neural networks, other deep learning models, and baseline models, the method proposed in this paper yields superior results. Scene text detection is an important research field in computer vision, playing a crucial role in various application scenarios. However, existing scene text detection methods often fail to achieve satisfactory results when faced with text instances of different sizes, shapes, and complex backgrounds. To address the challenge of detecting diverse texts in natural scenes, this paper proposes a multi-scale natural scene text detection method based on attention feature extraction and cascaded feature fusion. This method combines global and local attention through an improved attention feature fusion module (DSAF) to capture text features of different scales, enhancing the network's perception of text regions and improving its feature extraction capabilities. Simultaneously, an improved cascaded feature fusion module (PFFM) is used to fully integrate the extracted feature maps, expanding the receptive field of features and enriching the expressive ability of the feature maps. Finally, to address the cascaded feature maps, a lightweight subspace attention module (SAM) is introduced to partition the concatenated feature maps into several sub-space feature maps, facilitating spatial information interaction among features of different scales. In this paper, comparative experiments are conducted on the ICDAR2015, Total-Text, and MSRA-TD500 datasets, and comparisons are made with some existing scene text detection methods. With the increasing complexity of the grid meter dial, precise feature extraction is becoming more and more difficult. Many automatic recognition solutions have been proposed for grid meter readings. However, traditional inspection methods cannot guarantee detection accuracy in complex environments. So, deep-learning methods are combined with grid meter recognition. Existing recognition systems that utilize segmentation models exhibit very high computation. It is challenging to ensure high real-time performance in edge computing devices. Therefore, an improved meter recognition model based on YOLOv7 is proposed in this paper. Partial convolution (PConv) is introduced into YOLOv7 to create a lighter network. Different PConv introduction locations on the base module have been used in order to find the optimal approach for reducing the parameters and floating point of operations (FLOPs). Meanwhile, the dynamic head (DyHead) module is utilized to enhance the attention mechanism for the YOLOv7 model. It can improve the detection accuracy of striped objects. As a result, this paper achieves mAP 50 v a l of 97.87% and mAP 50 : 90 v a l of 62.4% with only 5.37 M parameters. The improved model's inference speed can reach 108 frames per second (FPS). Large field-of-view images are increasingly used in various environments today, and image stitching technology can make up for the limited field of view caused by hardware design. However, previous methods are constrained in various environments. In this paper, we propose a method that combines the powerful feature extraction capabilities of the Superpoint algorithm and the exact feature matching capabilities of the Lightglue algorithm with the image fusion algorithm of Unsupervised Deep Image Stitching (UDIS). Our proposed method effectively improves the situation where the linear structure is distorted and the resolution is low in the stitching results of the UDIS algorithm. On this basis, we make up for the shortcomings of the UDIS fusion algorithm. For stitching fractures of UDIS in some complex situations, we optimize the loss function of UDIS. We use a second-order differential Laplacian operator to replace the difference in the horizontal and vertical directions to emphasize the continuity of the structural edges during training. Combined with the above improvements, the Super Unsupervised Deep Image Stitching (SuperUDIS) algorithm is finally formed. SuperUDIS has better performance in both qualitative and quantitative evaluations compared to the UDIS algorithm, with the PSNR index increasing by 0.5 on average and the SSIM index increasing by 0.02 on average. Aiming at the problems of the poor recognition effect and low recognition rate of the existing methods in the process of belt deviation detection, this paper proposes a real-time belt deviation detection method. Firstly, ResNet18 combined with the attention mechanism module is used as a feature extraction network to enhance the features in the belt edge region and suppress the features in other regions. Then, the extracted features are used to predict the approximate locations of the belt edges using a classifier based on the contextual information on the fully connected layer. Next, the improved gradient equation is used as a structural loss in the model training stage to make the model prediction value closer to the target value. Then, the authors of this paper use the least squares method to fit the set of detected belt edge line points to obtain the accurate belt edge straight line. Finally, the deviation threshold is set according to the requirements of the safety production code, and the fitting results are compared with the threshold to achieve the belt deviation detection. Comparisons are made with four other methods: ultrafast structure-aware deep lane detection, end-to-end wireframe parsing, LSD, and the Hough transform. The results show that the proposed method is the fastest at 41 frames/sec; the accuracy is improved by 0.4%, 13.9%, 45.9%, and 78.8% compared to the other four methods; and the F1-score index is improved by 0.3%, 10.2%, 32.6%, and 72%, respectively, which meets the requirements of practical engineering applications. In large public places such as railway stations and airports, dense pedestrian detection is important for safety and security. Deep learning methods provide relatively effective solutions but still face problems such as feature extraction difficulties, image multi-scale variations, and high leakage detection rates, which bring great challenges to the research in this field. In this paper, we propose an improved dense pedestrian detection algorithm GR-yolo based on Yolov8. GR-yolo introduces the repc3 module to optimize the backbone network, which enhances the ability of feature extraction, adopts the aggregation–distribution mechanism to reconstruct the yolov8 neck structure, fuses multi-level information, achieves a more efficient exchange of information, and enhances the detection ability of the model. Meanwhile, the Giou loss calculation is used to help GR-yolo converge better, improve the detection accuracy of the target position, and reduce missed detection. Experiments show that GR-yolo has improved detection performance over yolov8, with a 3.1% improvement in detection means accuracy on the wider people dataset, 7.2% on the crowd human dataset, and 11.7% on the people detection images dataset. Addressing the limitations of current railway track foreign object detection techniques, which suffer from inadequate real-time performance and diminished accuracy in detecting small objects, this paper introduces an innovative vision-based perception methodology harnessing the power of deep learning. Central to this approach is the construction of a railway boundary model utilizing a sophisticated track detection method, along with an enhanced UNet semantic segmentation network to achieve autonomous segmentation of diverse track categories. By employing equal interval division and row-by-row traversal, critical track feature points are precisely extracted, and the track linear equation is derived through the least squares method, thus establishing an accurate railway boundary model. We optimized the YOLOv5s detection model in four aspects: incorporating the SE attention mechanism into the Neck network layer to enhance the model's feature extraction capabilities, adding a prediction layer to improve the detection performance for small objects, proposing a linear size scaling method to obtain suitable anchor boxes, and utilizing Inner-IoU to refine the boundary regression loss function, thereby increasing the positioning accuracy of the bounding boxes. We conducted a detection accuracy validation for railway track foreign object intrusion using a self-constructed image dataset. The results indicate that the proposed semantic segmentation model achieved an MIoU of 91.8%, representing a 3.9% improvement over the previous model, effectively segmenting railway tracks. Additionally, the optimized detection model could effectively detect foreign object intrusions on the tracks, reducing missed and false alarms and achieving a 7.4% increase in the mean average precision (IoU = 0.5) compared to the original YOLOv5s model. Intelligent fault diagnostics based on deep learning provides a favorable guarantee for the reliable operation of equipment, but a trained deep learning model generally has low prediction accuracy in cross-domain diagnostics. To solve this problem, a deep learning fault diagnosis method based on the reconstructed envelope spectrum is proposed to improve the ability of rolling bearing cross-domain fault diagnostics in this paper. First, based on the envelope spectrum morphology of rolling bearing failures, a standard envelope spectrum is constructed that reveals the unique characteristics of different bearing health states and eliminates the differences between domains due to different bearing speeds and bearing models. Then, a fault diagnosis model was constructed using a convolutional neural network to learn features and complete fault classification. Finally, using two publicly available bearing data sets and one bearing data set obtained by self-experimentation, the proposed method is applied to the data of the fault diagnostics of rolling bearings under different rotational speeds and different bearing types. The experimental results show that, compared with some popular feature extraction methods, the proposed method can achieve high diagnostic accuracy with data at different rotational speeds and different bearing types, and it is an effective method for solving the problem with cross-domain fault diagnostics for rolling bearings. As the demand for Internet access increases, malicious traffic on the Internet has soared also. In view of the fact that the existing malicious-traffic-identification methods suffer from low accuracy, this paper proposes a malicious-traffic-identification method based on contrastive learning. The proposed method is able to overcome the shortcomings of traditional methods that rely on labeled samples and is able to learn data feature representations carrying semantic information from unlabeled data, thus improving the model accuracy. In this paper, a new malicious traffic feature extraction model based on a Transformer is proposed. Employing a self-attention mechanism, the proposed feature extraction model can extract the bytes features of malicious traffic by performing calculations on the malicious traffic, thereby realizing the efficient identification of malicious traffic. In addition, a bidirectional GLSTM is introduced to extract the timing features of malicious traffic. Image inpainting is an active area of research in image processing that focuses on reconstructing damaged or missing parts of an image. The advent of deep learning has greatly advanced the field of image restoration in recent years. While there are many existing methods that can produce high-quality restoration results, they often struggle when dealing with images that have large missing areas, resulting in blurry and artifact-filled outcomes. This is primarily because of the presence of invalid information in the inpainting region, which interferes with the inpainting process. To tackle this challenge, the paper proposes a novel approach called separable mask update convolution. This technique automatically learns and updates the mask, which represents the missing area, to better control the influence of invalid information within the mask area on the restoration results. Furthermore, this convolution method reduces the number of network parameters and the size of the model. The paper also introduces a regional normalization technique that collaborates with separable mask update convolution layers for improved feature extraction, thereby enhancing the quality of the restored image. This paper presents bearing fault diagnosis using the image classification of different fault patterns. Feature extraction for image classification is carried out using a novel approach of Color recurrence plots, which is presented for the first time. Color recurrence plots are created using non-linear embedding of the vibration signals into delay coordinate space with variable time lags. Deep learning-based image classification is then performed by building the database of the extracted features of the bearing vibration signals in the form of Color recurrence plots. A Series of computational experiments are performed to compare the accuracy of bearing fault classification using Color recurrence plots. The standard bearing vibration dataset of Case Western Reserve University is used for those purposes. The growing problem of unsolicited text messages (smishing) and data irregularities necessitates stronger spam detection solutions. This paper explores the development of a sophisticated model designed to identify smishing messages by understanding the complex relationships among words, images, and context-specific factors, areas that remain underexplored in existing research. To address this, we merge a UCI spam dataset of regular text messages with real-world spam data, leveraging OCR technology for comprehensive analysis. The study employs a combination of traditional machine learning models, including K-means, Non-Negative Matrix Factorization, and Gaussian Mixture Models, along with feature extraction techniques such as TF-IDF and PCA. Additionally, deep learning models like RNN-Flatten, LSTM, and Bi-LSTM are utilized. The selection of these models is driven by their complementary strengths in capturing both the linear and non-linear relationships inherent in smishing messages. Machine learning models are chosen for their efficiency in handling structured text data, while deep learning models are selected for their superior ability to capture sequential dependencies and contextual nuances. The performance of these models is rigorously evaluated using metrics like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score, enabling a comparative analysis between the machine learning and deep learning approaches. Notably, the K-means feature extraction with vectorizer achieved 91.01% accuracy, and the KNN-Flatten model reached 94.13% accuracy, emerging as the top performer. The rationale behind highlighting these models is their potential to significantly improve smishing detection rates. For instance, the high accuracy of the KNN-Flatten model suggests its applicability in real-time spam detection systems, but its computational complexity might limit scalability in large-scale deployments. Compressive sensing (CS) is a notable technique in signal processing, especially in multimedia, as it allows for simultaneous signal acquisition and dimensionality reduction. Recent advancements in deep learning (DL) have led to the creation of deep unfolding architectures, which overcome the inefficiency and subpar quality of traditional CS reconstruction methods. In this paper, we introduce a novel CS image reconstruction algorithm that leverages the strengths of the fast iterative shrinkage-thresholding algorithm (FISTA) and modern Transformer networks. To enhance computational efficiency, we employ a block-based sampling approach in the sampling module. By mapping FISTA's iterative process onto neural networks in the reconstruction module, we address the hyperparameter challenges of traditional algorithms, thereby improving reconstruction efficiency. Moreover, the robust feature extraction capabilities of Transformer networks significantly enhance image reconstruction quality. Due to the limitations of deep learning models in processing one-dimensional signal feature extraction, and high model complexity leading to low training accuracy and large consumption of computing resources, this paper innovatively proposes a rolling bearing fault diagnosis method based on Gramian Angular Field (GAF) and enhanced lightweight residual network. Firstly, the one-dimensional signal is transformed into a two-dimensional GAF image, fully preserving the signal's temporal dependency. Secondly, to address the parameter redundancy and high computational complexity of the ResNet-18 model, its residual blocks are improved. The second convolutional layer in the downsampling residual blocks is removed, traditional convolutional layers are replaced with depthwise separable convolutions, and the lightweight Efficient Channel Attention (ECA) module is embedded after each residual block. This further enhances the model's ability to capture key features while maintaining low computational cost, resulting in a lightweight model referred to as E-ResNet13. Finally, the generated GAF feature maps are fed into the E-ResNet13 model for training, and through a global average pooling layer, they are mapped to a fully connected layer for classifying the faults of rolling bearings. Verifying the superiority of the proposed GAF-E-ResNet13 model, experimental results show that the GAF image encoding method achieves higher fault recognition accuracy compared to other encoding methods. Substation equipment defect detection has always played an important role in equipment operation and maintenance. However, the task scenarios of substation equipment defect detection are complex and different. Recent studies have revealed issues such as a significant missed detection rate for small-sized targets and diminished detection precision. At the same time, the current mainstream detection algorithms are highly complex, which is not conducive to deployment on resource-constrained devices. In view of the above problems, a small target and lightweight substation main scene equipment defect detection algorithm is proposed: Efficient Attentional Lightweight-YOLO (EAL-YOLO), which detection accuracy exceeds the current mainstream model, and the number of parameters and floating point operations (FLOPs) are also advantageous. Firstly, the EfficientFormerV2 is used to optimize the model backbone, and the Large Separable Kernel Attention (LSKA) mechanism has been incorporated into the Spatial Pyramid Pooling Fast (SPPF) to enhance the model's feature extraction capabilities; secondly, a small target neck network Attentional scale Sequence Fusion P2-Neck (ASF2-Neck) is proposed to enhance the model's ability to detect small target defects; finally, in order to facilitate deployment on resource-constrained devices, a lightweight shared convolution detection head module Lightweight Shared Convolutional Head (LSCHead) is proposed. Experiments show that compared with YOLOv8n, EAL-YOLO has improved its accuracy by 2.93 percentage points, and the mAP50 of 12 types of typical equipment defects has reached 92.26%. Concurrently, the quantity of FLOPs and parameters has diminished by 46.5% and 61.17% respectively, in comparison with YOLOv8s, meeting the needs of substation defect detection. Independent vector analysis (IVA) can be viewed as an extension of independent component analysis (ICA) to multiple datasets. It exploits the statistical dependency between different datasets through mutual information. In the context of motor imagery classification based on electroencephalogram (EEG) signals for the brain–computer interface (BCI), several methods have been proposed to extract features efficiently, mainly based on common spatial patterns, filter banks, and deep learning. However, most methods use only one dataset at a time, which may not be sufficient for dealing with a multi-source retrieving problem in certain scenarios. From this perspective, this paper proposes an original approach for feature extraction through multiple datasets based on IVA to improve the classification of EEG-based motor imagery movements. The IVA components were used as features to classify imagined movements using consolidated classifiers (support vector machines and K-nearest neighbors) and deep classifiers (EEGNet and EEGInception). Deep learning has recently made significant progress in semantic segmentation. However, the current methods face critical challenges. The segmentation process often lacks sufficient contextual information and attention mechanisms, low-level features lack semantic richness, and high-level features suffer from poor resolution. These limitations reduce the model's ability to accurately understand and process scene details, particularly in complex scenarios, leading to segmentation outputs that may have inaccuracies in boundary delineation, misclassification of regions, and poor handling of small or overlapping objects. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a Semantic Segmentation Network Based on Adaptive Attention and Deep Fusion with the Multi-Scale Dilated Convolutional Pyramid (SDAMNet). Specifically, the Dilated Convolutional Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling (DCASPP) module is developed to enhance contextual information in semantic segmentation. Additionally, a Semantic Channel Space Details Module (SCSDM) is devised to improve the extraction of significant features through multi-scale feature fusion and adaptive feature selection, enhancing the model's perceptual capability for key regions and optimizing semantic understanding and segmentation performance. Furthermore, a Semantic Features Fusion Module (SFFM) is constructed to address the semantic deficiency in low-level features and the low resolution in high-level features. In this paper, we proposed Mix-VIO, a monocular and binocular visual-inertial odometry, to address the issue where conventional visual front-end tracking often fails under dynamic lighting and image blur conditions. Mix-VIO adopts a hybrid tracking approach, combining traditional handcrafted tracking techniques with Deep Neural Network (DNN)-based feature extraction and matching pipelines. The system employs deep learning methods for rapid feature point detection, while integrating traditional optical flow methods and deep learning-based sparse feature matching methods to enhance front-end tracking performance under rapid camera motion and environmental illumination changes. In the back-end, we utilize sliding window and bundle adjustment (BA) techniques for local map optimization and pose estimation. In this paper, a novel deep learning method Mamba-RAYOLO is presented, which can improve detection and classification in the processing and analysis of ECG images in real time by integrating three advanced modules. The feature extraction module in our work with a multi-branch structure during training can capture a wide range of features to ensure efficient inference and rich feature extraction. The attention mechanism module utilized in our proposed network can dynamically focus on the most relevant spatial and channel-wise features to improve detection accuracy and computational efficiency. Then, the extracted features can be refined for efficient spatial feature processing and robust feature fusion. Large-scale, diverse, and high-quality data are the basis and key to achieving a good generalization of target detection and recognition algorithms based on deep learning. However, the existing methods for the intelligent augmentation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are confronted with several issues, including training instability, inferior image quality, lack of physical interpretability, etc. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a feature-level SAR target-data augmentation method. First, an enhanced capsule neural network (CapsNet) is proposed and employed for feature extraction, decoupling the attribute information of input data. Moreover, an attention mechanism-based attribute decoupling framework is used, which is beneficial for achieving a more effective representation of features. After that, the decoupled attribute feature, including amplitude, elevation angle, azimuth angle, and shape, can be perturbed to increase the diversity of features. On this basis, the augmentation of SAR target images is realized by reconstructing the perturbed features. In contrast to the augmentation methods using random noise as input, the proposed method realizes the mapping from the input of known distribution to the change in unknown distribution. This mapping method reduces the correlation distance between the input signal and the augmented data, therefore diminishing the demand for training data. In addition, we combine pixel loss and perceptual loss in the reconstruction process, which improves the quality of the augmented SAR data. The evaluation of the real and augmented images is conducted using four assessment metrics. The images generated by this method achieve a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 21.6845, radiometric resolution (RL) of 3.7114, and dynamic range (DR) of 24.0654. License plate (LP) information is an important part of personal privacy, which is protected by law. However, in some publicly available transportation datasets, the LP areas in the images have not been processed. Other datasets have applied simple de-identification operations such as blurring and masking. Such crude operations will lead to a reduction in data utility. In this paper, we propose a method of LP de-identification based on a generative adversarial network (LPDi GAN) to transform an original image to a synthetic one with a generated LP. To maintain the original LP attributes, the background features are extracted from the background to generate LPs that are similar to the originals. The LP template and LP style are also fed into the network to obtain synthetic LPs with controllable characters and higher quality. The results show that LPDi GAN can perceive changes in environmental conditions and LP tilt angles, and control the LP characters through the LP templates. The perceptual similarity metric, Learned Perceptual Image Patch Similarity (LPIPS), reaches 0.25 while ensuring the effect of character recognition on de-identified images, demonstrating that LPDi GAN can achieve outstanding de-identification while preserving strong data utility. Chip pad inspection is of great practical importance for chip alignment inspection and correction. It is one of the key technologies for automated chip inspection in semiconductor manufacturing. When applying deep learning methods for chip pad inspection, the main problem to be solved is how to ensure the accuracy of small target pad detection and, at the same time, achieve a lightweight inspection model. The attention mechanism is widely used to improve the accuracy of small target detection by finding the attention region of the network. However, conventional attention mechanisms capture feature information locally, which makes it difficult to effectively improve the detection efficiency of small targets from complex backgrounds in target detection tasks. In this paper, an OCAM (Object Convolution Attention Module) attention module is proposed to build long-range dependencies between channel features and position features by constructing feature contextual relationships to enhance the correlation between features. By adding the OCAM attention module to the feature extraction layer of the YOLOv5 network, the detection performance of chip pads is effectively improved. In addition, a design guideline for the attention layer is proposed in the paper. The attention layer is adjusted by network scaling to avoid network characterization bottlenecks, balance network parameters, and network detection performance, and reduce the hardware device requirements for the improved YOLOv5 network in practical scenarios. Wi-Fi-based human activity recognition has attracted significant attention. Deep learning methods are widely used to achieve feature representation and activity sensing. While more learnable parameters in the neural networks model lead to richer feature extraction, it results in significant resource consumption, rendering the model unsuitable for lightweight Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Furthermore, the sensing performance heavily relies on the quality and quantity of data, which is a time-consuming and labor-intensive task. Therefore, there is a need to explore methods that reduce the dependence on the quality and quantity of the dataset while ensuring recognition performance and decreasing model complexity to adapt to ubiquitous lightweight IoT devices. In this paper, we propose a novel Lightweight-Complex Temporal Convolution Network (L-CTCN) for human activity recognition. Specifically, this approach effectively combines complex convolution with a Temporal Convolution Network (TCN). Complex convolution can extract richer information from limited raw complex data, reducing the reliance on the quality and quantity of training samples. Based on the designed TCN framework with 1D convolution and residual blocks, the proposed model can achieve lightweight human activity recognition. Extensive experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. We can achieve an average recognition accuracy of 96.6% with only 0.17 M parameter size. This paper proposes a multimodal fusion 3D target detection algorithm based on the attention mechanism to improve the performance of 3D target detection. The algorithm utilizes point cloud data and information from the camera. For image feature extraction, the ResNet50 + FPN architecture extracts features at four levels. Point cloud feature extraction employs the voxel method and FCN to extract point and voxel features. The fusion of image and point cloud features is achieved through regional point fusion and voxel fusion methods. After information fusion, the Coordinate and SimAM attention mechanisms extract fusion features at a deep level. The algorithm's performance is evaluated using the DAIR-V2X dataset. The results show that compared to the Part-A2 algorithm; the proposed algorithm improves the mAP value by 7.9% in the BEV view and 7.8% in the 3D view at IOU = 0.5 (cars) and IOU = 0.25 (pedestrians and cyclists). Text summarization is an information compression technology to extract important information from long text, which has become a challenging research direction in the field of natural language processing. At present, the text summary model based on deep learning has shown good results, but how to more effectively model the relationship between words, more accurately extract feature information and eliminate redundant information is still a problem of concern. This paper proposes a graph neural network model GA-GNN based on gated attention, which effectively improves the accuracy and readability of text summarization. First, the words are encoded using a concatenated sentence encoder to generate a deeper vector containing local and global semantic information. Secondly, the ability to extract key information features is improved by using gated attention units to eliminate local irrelevant information. Finally, the loss function is optimized from the three aspects of contrastive learning, confidence calculation of important sentences, and graph feature extraction to improve the robustness of the model. The fast and accurate reconstruction of the turbulence phase is crucial for compensating atmospheric disturbances in free-space coherent optical communication. Traditional methods suffer from slow convergence and inadequate phase reconstruction accuracy. This paper introduces a deep learning-based approach for atmospheric turbulence phase reconstruction, utilizing light intensity images affected by turbulence as the basis for feature extraction. The method employs extensive light intensity-phase samples across varying turbulence intensities for training, enabling phase reconstruction from light intensity images. The trained U-Net model reconstructs phases for strong, medium, and weak turbulence with an average processing time of 0.14 s. Simulation outcomes indicate an average loss function value of 0.00027 post-convergence, with a mean squared error of 0.0003 for individual turbulence reconstructions. Over the past decades, drones have become more attainable by the public due to their widespread availability at affordable prices. Nevertheless, this situation sparks serious concerns in both the cyber and physical security domains, as drones can be employed for malicious activities with public safety threats. However, detecting drones instantly and efficiently is a very difficult task due to their tiny size and swift flights. This paper presents a novel drone detection method using deep convolutional learning and deep transfer learning. The proposed algorithm employs a new feature extraction network, which is added to the modified YOU ONLY LOOK ONCE version2 (YOLOv2) network. The feature extraction model uses bypass connections to learn features from the training sets and solves the "vanishing gradient" problem caused by the increasing depth of the network. The structure of YOLOv2 is modified by replacing the rectified linear unit (relu) with a leaky-relu activation function and adding an extra convolutional layer with a stride of 2 to improve the small object detection accuracy. Using leaky-relu solves the "dying relu" problem. The additional convolution layer with a stride of 2 reduces the spatial dimensions of the feature maps and helps the network to focus on larger contextual information while still preserving the ability to detect small objects. The model is trained with a custom dataset that contains various types of drones, airplanes, birds, and helicopters under various weather conditions. Given the severe impact of Citrus Huanglongbing on orchard production, accurate detection of the disease is crucial in orchard management. In the natural environments, due to factors such as varying light intensities, mutual occlusion of citrus leaves, the extremely small size of Huanglongbing leaves, and the high similarity between Huanglongbing and other citrus diseases, there remains an issue of low detection accuracy when using existing mainstream object detection models for the detection of citrus Huanglongbing. To address this issue, we propose YOLO-EAF (You Only Look Once–Efficient Asymptotic Fusion), an improved model based on YOLOv8n. Firstly, the Efficient Multi-Scale Attention Module with cross-spatial learning (EMA) is integrated into the backbone feature extraction network to enhance the feature extraction and integration capabilities of the model. Secondly, the adaptive spatial feature fusion (ASFF) module is used to enhance the feature fusion ability of different levels of the model so as to improve the generalization ability of the model. Finally, the focal and efficient intersection over union (Focal–EIOU) is utilized as the loss function, which accelerates the convergence process of the model and improves the regression precision and robustness of the model. In order to verify the performance of the YOLO-EAF method, we tested it on the self-built citrus Huanglongbing image dataset. The experimental results showed that YOLO-EAF achieved an 8.4% higher precision than YOLOv8n on the self-built dataset, reaching 82.7%. The F1-score increased by 3.33% to 77.83%, and the mAP (0.5) increased by 3.3% to 84.7%. Human–object interaction (HOI) detection identifies a "set of interactions" in an image involving the recognition of interacting instances and the classification of interaction categories. The complexity and variety of image content make this task challenging. Recently, the Transformer has been applied in computer vision and received attention in the HOI detection task. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel Part Refinement Tandem Transformer (PRTT) for HOI detection. Unlike the previous Transformer-based HOI method, PRTT utilizes multiple decoders to split and process rich elements of HOI prediction and introduces a new part state feature extraction (PSFE) module to help improve the final interaction category classification. We adopt a novel prior feature integrated cross-attention (PFIC) to utilize the fine-grained partial state semantic and appearance feature output obtained by the PSFE module to guide queries. The fusion of multi-modal medical images has great significance for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. However, the large differences between the various modalities of medical images make multi-modal medical image fusion a great challenge. This paper proposes a novel multi-scale fusion network based on multi-dimensional dynamic convolution and residual hybrid transformer, which has better capability for feature extraction and context modeling and improves the fusion performance. Specifically, the proposed network exploits multi-dimensional dynamic convolution that introduces four attention mechanisms corresponding to four different dimensions of the convolutional kernel to extract more detailed information. Meanwhile, a residual hybrid transformer is designed, which activates more pixels to participate in the fusion process by channel attention, window attention, and overlapping cross attention, thereby strengthening the long-range dependence between different modes and enhancing the connection of global context information. A loss function, including perceptual loss and structural similarity loss, is designed, where the former enhances the visual reality and perceptual details of the fused image, and the latter enables the model to learn structural textures. The whole network adopts a multi-scale architecture and uses an unsupervised end-to-end method to realize multi-modal image fusion. Finally, our method is tested qualitatively and quantitatively on mainstream datasets. Detecting pipeline leaks is an essential factor in maintaining the integrity of fluid transport systems. This paper introduces an advanced deep learning framework that uses continuous wavelet transform (CWT) images for precise detection of such leaks. Transforming acoustic signals from pipelines under various conditions into CWT scalograms, followed by signal processing by non-local means and adaptive histogram equalization, results in new enhanced leak-induced scalograms (ELIS) that capture detailed energy fluctuations across time-frequency scales. Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (V-SLAM) plays a crucial role in the development of intelligent robotics and autonomous navigation systems. However, it still faces significant challenges in handling highly dynamic environments. The prevalent method currently used for dynamic object recognition in the environment is deep learning. However, models such as Yolov5 and Mask R-CNN require significant computational resources, which limits their potential in real-time applications due to hardware and time constraints. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes ADM-SLAM, a visual SLAM system designed for dynamic environments that builds upon the ORB-SLAM2. This system integrates efficient adaptive feature point homogenization extraction, lightweight deep learning semantic segmentation based on an improved DeepLabv3, and multi-view geometric segmentation. It optimizes keyframe extraction, segments potential dynamic objects using contextual information with the semantic segmentation network, and detects the motion states of dynamic objects using multi-view geometric methods, thereby eliminating dynamic interference points. The results indicate that ADM-SLAM outperforms ORB-SLAM2 in dynamic environments, especially in high-dynamic scenes, where it achieves up to a 97% reduction in Absolute Trajectory Error (ATE). In recent years, deep learning methods have achieved remarkable success in hyperspectral image classification (HSIC), and the utilization of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) has proven to be highly effective. However, there are still several critical issues that need to be addressed in the HSIC task, such as the lack of labeled training samples, which constrains the classification accuracy and generalization ability of CNNs. To address this problem, a deep multi-scale attention fusion network (DMAF-NET) is proposed in this paper. This network is based on multi-scale features and fully exploits the deep features of samples from multiple levels and different perspectives with an aim to enhance HSIC results using limited samples. The innovation of this article is mainly reflected in three aspects: Firstly, a novel baseline network for multi-scale feature extraction is designed with a pyramid structure and densely connected 3D octave convolutional network enabling the extraction of deep-level information from features at different granularities. Secondly, a multi-scale spatial–spectral attention module and a pyramidal multi-scale channel attention module are designed, respectively. This allows modeling of the comprehensive dependencies of coordinates and directions, local and global, in four dimensions. Finally, a multi-attention fusion module is designed to effectively combine feature mappings extracted from multiple branches. In view of the fact that the aerial images of UAVs are usually taken from a top-down perspective, there are large changes in spatial resolution and small targets to be detected, and the detection method of natural scenes is not effective in detecting under the arbitrary arrangement of remote sensing image direction, which is difficult to apply to the detection demand scenario of road technology status assessment, this paper proposes a lightweight network architecture algorithm based on MobileNetv3-YOLOv5s (MR-YOLO). First, the MobileNetv3 structure is introduced to replace part of the backbone network of YOLOv5s for feature extraction so as to reduce the network model size and computation and improve the detection speed of the target; meanwhile, the CSPNet cross-stage local network is introduced to ensure the accuracy while reducing the computation. The focal loss function is improved to improve the localization accuracy while increasing the speed of the bounding box regression. Finally, by improving the YOLOv5 target detection network from the prior frame design and the bounding box regression formula, the rotation angle method is added to make it suitable for the detection demand scenario of road technology status assessment. After a large number of algorithm comparisons and data ablation experiments, the feasibility of the algorithm was verified on the Xinjiang Altay highway dataset, and the accuracy of the MR-YOLO algorithm was as high as 91.1%, the average accuracy was as high as 92.4%, and the detection speed reached 96.8 FPS. Compared with YOLOv5s, the p-value and mAP values of the proposed algorithm were effectively improved. Rails play a vital role in the bearing and guidance of high-speed trains, and the normal condition of rail components is the guarantee of the operation and maintenance safety. Fasteners are critical components for fixing the rails, so it is particularly important to detect whether they are in a normal state or not. The current rail-fastener detection models have some drawbacks, including poor generalization ability, large model volume and low detection efficiency. In view of this, an improved YoLoX-Nano rail-fastener-defect-detection method is proposed in this paper. The CA attention mechanism is added to the three output feature maps of CSPDarknet and the enhanced feature extraction part of the Path Aggregation Feature Pyramid Network (PAFPN); the Adaptively Spatial Feature Fusion (ASFF) is added after the PAFPN output feature map, which enables the semantic information of the high-level features and the fine-grained features of the bottom layer to be further enhanced. The improved YoLoX-Nano model has improved the AP value by 27.42% on fractured fasteners, 15.88% on displacement fasteners and 12.96% on normal fasteners. Moreover, the mAP value is improved by 18.75%, and it is 14.75% higher than the two-stage model Faster-RCNN on mAP. In addition, compared with YoLov7-tiny, the improved YoLoX-Nano model achieves 13.56% improvement on mAP. Although the improved model increases a certain amount of calculation, the detection speed of the improved model has been increased by 30.54 fps and by 32.33 fps when compared with that of the Single-Shot Multi-Box Detector (SSD) model and the You Only Look Once v3 (YoLov3) model, reaching 54.35 fps. The improved YoLoX-Nano model enables accurate and rapid identification of the defects of rail fasteners, which can meet the needs of real-time detection. The characteristics of acoustic emission signals generated in the process of rock deformation and fission contain rich information on internal rock damage. The use of acoustic emissions monitoring technology can analyze and identify the precursor information of rock failure. At present, in the field of acoustic emissions monitoring and the early warning of rock fracture disasters, there is no real-time identification method for a disaster precursor characteristic signal. It is easy to lose information by analyzing the characteristic parameters of traditional acoustic emissions to find signals that serve as precursors to disasters, and analysis has mostly been based on post-analysis, which leads to poor real-time recognition of disaster precursor characteristics and low application levels in the engineering field. Based on this, this paper regards the acoustic emissions signal of rock fracture as a kind of speech signal generated by rock fracture uses this idea of speech recognition for reference alongside spectral analysis (STFT) and Mel frequency analysis to realize the feature extraction of acoustic emissions from rock fracture. In deep learning, based on the VGG16 convolutional neural network and AlexNet convolutional neural network, six intelligent real-time recognition models of rock fracture and key acoustic emission signals were constructed, and the network structure and loss function of traditional VGG16 were optimized. The experimental results show that these six deep-learning models can achieve the real-time intelligent recognition of key signals, and Mel, combined with the improved VGG16, achieved the best performance with 87.68% accuracy and 81.05% recall. Then, by comparing multiple groups of signal recognition models, Mel+VGG-FL proposed in this paper was verified as having a high recognition accuracy and certain recognition efficiency, performing the intelligent real-time recognition of key acoustic emission signals in the process of rock fracture more accurately, which can provide new ideas and methods for related research and the real-time intelligent recognition of rock fracture precursor characteristics. Crowd counting, as a basic computer vision task, plays an important role in many fields such as video surveillance, accident prediction, public security, and intelligent transportation. At present, crowd counting tasks face various challenges. Firstly, due to the diversity of crowd distribution and increasing population density, there is a phenomenon of large-scale crowd aggregation in public places, sports stadiums, and stations, resulting in very serious occlusion. Secondly, when annotating large-scale datasets, positioning errors can also easily affect training results. In addition, the size of human head targets in dense images is not consistent, making it difficult to identify both near and far targets using only one network simultaneously. The existing crowd counting methods mainly use density plot regression methods. However, this framework does not distinguish the features between distant and near targets and cannot adaptively respond to scale changes. Therefore, the detection performance in areas with sparse population distribution is not good. To solve such problems, we propose an adaptive multi-scale far and near distance network based on the convolutional neural network (CNN) framework for counting dense populations and achieving a good balance between accuracy, inference speed, and performance. However, on the feature level, in order to enable the model to distinguish the differences between near and far features, we use stacked convolution layers to deepen the depth of the network, allocate different receptive fields according to the distance between the target and the camera, and fuse the features between nearby targets to enhance the feature extraction ability of pedestrians under nearby targets. Secondly, depth information is used to distinguish distant and near targets of different scales and the original image is cut into four different patches to perform pixel-level adaptive modeling on the population. In addition, we add density normalized average precision (nAP) indicators to analyze the accuracy of our method in spatial positioning. This paper validates the effectiveness of NF-Net on three challenging benchmarks in Shanghai Tech Part A and B, UCF_ CC_50, and UCF-QNRF datasets. Gestures have been used for nonverbal communication for a long time, but human–computer interaction (HCI) via gestures is becoming more common in the modern era. To obtain a greater recognition rate, the traditional interface comprises various devices, such as gloves, physical controllers, and markers. This study provides a new markerless technique for obtaining gestures without the need for any barriers or pricey hardware. In this paper, dynamic gestures are first converted into frames. The noise is removed, and intensity is adjusted for feature extraction. The hand gesture is first detected through the images, and the skeleton is computed through mathematical computations. From the skeleton, the features are extracted; these features include joint color cloud, neural gas, and directional active model. After that, the features are optimized, and a selective feature set is passed through the classifier recurrent neural network (RNN) to obtain the classification results with higher accuracy. The proposed model is experimentally assessed and trained over three datasets: HaGRI, Egogesture, and Jester. The experimental results for the three datasets provided improved results based on classification, and the proposed system achieved an accuracy of 92.57% over HaGRI, 91.86% over Egogesture, and 91.57% over the Jester dataset, respectively. Also, to check the model liability, the proposed method was tested on the WLASL dataset, attaining 90.43% accuracy. The automatic parking system based on vision is greatly affected by uneven lighting, which is difficult to make an accurate judgment on parking spaces in the case of complex image information. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a parking space visual detection and image processing method based on deep learning. Firstly, a 360-degree panoramic system was designed to photograph the vehicle environment. The image has been processed to obtain a panoramic aerial view, which was input as the original image of the parking space detection system. Secondly, the Faster R-CNN (Region-Convolutional Neural Network) parking detection model was established based on deep learning. It was aimed to detect and extract the parking space from the input image. Thirdly, the problems of uneven illumination and complex background were solved effectively by removing the background light from the image. Finally, a parking space extraction method based on the connected region has been designed, which further simplified the parking space extraction and image processing. The experiment results show that the mAP (mean Average Precision) value of the Faster R-CNN model using 101-Floor ResNet as the feature extraction network is 89.30%, which is 2.28% higher than that of the Faster R-CNN model using 50-Floor ResNet as the feature extraction network. The model built in this paper can detect most parking spaces well. The position of the output target box is accurate. In some test scenarios, the confidence of parking space recognition can even reach 100%. Image recognition has long been one of the research hotspots in computer vision tasks. The development of deep learning is rapid in recent years, and convolutional neural networks usually need to be designed with fixed resources. If sufficient resources are available, the model can be scaled up to achieve higher accuracy, for example, VggNet, ResNet, GoogLeNet, etc. Although the accuracy of large-scale models has been improved, the following problems will occur with the expansion of model scale: (1) There may be over-fitting; (2) increasing model parameters; (3) slow model convergence. This paper proposes a design method for a modular convolutional neural network model which solves the problem of over-fitting and large model parameters by connecting multiple modules in parallel. Moreover, each module contains several submodules (three submodules in this paper) and fuses the features extracted from the submodules. The model convergence can be accelerated by using the fused features (the fused features contain more image information). In this study, we add a gate unit based on the attention mechanism to the model, which aims to optimize the structure of the model (select the optimal number of modules), allowing the model to select an optimum network structure by learning and dynamically reducing FLOPs (floating-point operations per second) of the model. Compared to VggNet, ResNet, and GoogLeNet, the structure of the model proposed in this paper is simple and the parameters are small. Deep learning methodologies employed for biomass prediction often neglect the intricate relationships between labels and samples, resulting in suboptimal predictive performance. This paper introduces an advanced supervised contrastive learning technique, termed Improved Supervised Contrastive Deep Regression (SCDR), which is adept at effectively capturing the nuanced relationships between samples and labels in the feature space, thereby mitigating this limitation. Simultaneously, we propose the U-like Hierarchical Residual Fusion Network (BioUMixer), a bespoke biomass prediction network tailored for image data. BioUMixer enhances feature extraction from biomass image data, facilitating information exchange and fusion while considering both global and local features within the images. The efficacy of the proposed method is validated on the Pepper_Biomass dataset, which encompasses over 600 original images paired with corresponding biomass labels. The results demonstrate a noteworthy enhancement in deep regression tasks, as evidenced by performance metrics on the Pepper_Biomass dataset, including RMSE = 252.18, MAE = 201.98, and MAPE = 0.107. Additionally, assessment on the publicly accessible GrassClover dataset yields metrics of RMSE = 47.92, MAE = 31.74, and MAPE = 0.192. Long-term, automated fish detection provides invaluable data for deep-sea aquaculture, which is crucial for safe and efficient seawater aquafarming. In this paper, we used an infrared camera installed on a deep-sea truss-structure net cage to collect fish images, which were subsequently labeled to establish a fish dataset. Comparison experiments with our dataset based on Faster R-CNN as the basic objection detection framework were conducted to explore how different backbone networks and network improvement modules influenced fish detection performances. Furthermore, we also experimented with the effects of different learning rates, feature extraction layers, and data augmentation strategies. Our results showed that Faster R-CNN with the EfficientNetB0 backbone and FPN module was the most competitive fish detection network for our dataset, since it took a significantly shorter detection time while maintaining a high AP50 value of 0.85, compared to the best AP50 value of 0.86 being achieved by the combination of VGG16 with all improvement modules plus data augmentation. Deep transfer learning has been widely used to improve the versatility of models. In the problem of cross-domain fault diagnosis in rolling bearings, most models require that the given data have a similar distribution, which limits the diagnostic effect and generalization of the model. This paper proposes a deep reconstruction transfer convolutional neural network (DRTCNN), which satisfies the domain adaptability of the model under cross-domain conditions. Firstly, the model uses a deep reconstruction convolutional automatic encoder for feature extraction and data reconstruction. Through sharing parameters and unsupervised training, the structural information of target domain samples is effectively used to extract domain-invariant features. Secondly, a new subdomain alignment loss function is introduced to align the subdomain distribution of the source domain and the target domain, which can improve the classification accuracy by reducing the intra-class distance and increasing the inter-class distance. In addition, a label smoothing algorithm considering the credibility of the sample is introduced to train the model classifier to avoid the impact of wrong labels on the training process. Deep learning promotes the breakthrough of emotion recognition in many fields, especially speech emotion recognition (SER). As an important part of speech emotion recognition, the most relevant acoustic feature extraction has always attracted the attention of existing researchers. Aiming at the problem that the emotional information contained in the current speech signals is distributed dispersedly and cannot comprehensively integrate local and global information, this paper presents a network model based on a gated recurrent unit (GRU) and multi-head attention. We evaluate our proposed emotion model on the IEMOCAP and Emo-DB corpora. The experimental results show that the network model based on Bi-GRU and multi-head attention is significantly better than the traditional network model at detecting multiple evaluation indicators. This paper proposes a new fault diagnosis method for centrifugal pumps by combining signal processing with deep learning techniques. Centrifugal pumps facilitate fluid transport through the energy generated by the impeller. Throughout the operation, variations in the fluid pressure at the pump's inlet may impact the generalization of traditional machine learning models trained on raw statistical features. To address this concern, first, vibration signals are collected from centrifugal pumps, followed by the application of a lowpass filter to isolate frequencies indicative of faults. These signals are then subjected to a continuous wavelet transform and Stockwell transform, generating two distinct time–frequency scalograms. The Sobel filter is employed to further highlight essential features within these scalograms. For feature extraction, this approach employs two parallel convolutional autoencoders, each tailored for a specific scalogram type. Subsequently, extracted features are merged into a unified feature pool, which forms the basis for training a two-layer artificial neural network, with the aim of achieving accurate fault classification. The proposed method is validated using three distinct datasets obtained from the centrifugal pump under varying inlet fluid pressures. Ship detection is vital for maritime safety and vessel monitoring, but challenges like false and missed detections persist, particularly in complex backgrounds, multiple scales, and adverse weather conditions. This paper presents YOLO-Vessel, a ship detection model built upon YOLOv7, which incorporates several innovations to improve its performance. First, we devised a novel backbone network structure called Efficient Layer Aggregation Networks and Omni-Dimensional Dynamic Convolution (ELAN-ODConv). This architecture effectively addresses the complex background interference commonly encountered in maritime ship images, thereby improving the model's feature extraction capabilities. Additionally, we introduce the space-to-depth structure in the head network, which can solve the problem of small ship targets in images that are difficult to detect. Furthermore, we introduced ASFFPredict, a predictive network structure addressing scale variation among ship types, bolstering multiscale ship target detection. Experimental results demonstrate YOLO-Vessel's effectiveness, achieving a 78.3% mean average precision (mAP), surpassing YOLOv7 by 2.3% and Faster R-CNN by 11.6%. It maintains real-time detection at 8.0 ms/frame, meeting real-time ship detection needs. Evaluation in adverse weather conditions confirms YOLO-Vessel's superiority in ship detection, offering a robust solution to maritime challenges and enhancing marine safety and vessel monitoring. Myocardial Infarction (MI), commonly known as heart attack, is a cardiac condition characterized by damage to a portion of the heart, specifically the myocardium, due to the disruption of blood flow. Given its recurring and often asymptomatic nature, there is the need for continuous monitoring using wearable devices. This paper proposes a single-microcontroller-based system designed for the automatic detection of MI based on the Edge Computing paradigm. Two solutions for MI detection are evaluated, based on Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques. The developed algorithms are based on two different approaches currently available in the literature, and they are optimized for deployment on low-resource hardware. A feasibility assessment of their implementation on a single 32-bit microcontroller with an ARM Cortex-M4 core was examined, and a comparison in terms of accuracy, inference time, and memory usage was detailed. For ML techniques, significant data processing for feature extraction, coupled with a simpler Neural Network (NN) is involved. On the other hand, the second method, based on DL, employs a Spectrogram Analysis for feature extraction and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with a longer inference time and higher memory utilization. Both methods employ the same low power hardware reaching an accuracy of 89.40% and 94.76%, respectively. The final prototype is an energy-efficient system capable of real-time detection of MI without the need to connect to remote servers or the cloud.
