La fièvre jaune (FJ) est une fièvre hémorragique virale, causée par le virus de la fièvre jaune, transmise par les moustiques du genre Aedes. Au Tchad depuis 2013, 04 cas de fièvre jaune ont été identifiés et confirmés dans le cadre du programme national de surveillance de la fièvre. Nous rapportons ici l´observation clinique du dernier cas confirmé dans le district sanitaire de Lai. Il s´agit d´un homme de 57 ans sans antécédents médicaux et chirurgicaux significatifs et un statut vaccinal inconnu. Il a consulté le 21 avril 2020 pour fièvre, ictère d´épistaxis d´abondance modérée à faible et hépatomégalie douloureuse. Dont les explorations para-cliniques ont permis de mettre en évidence le virus de la fièvre jaune en post mortem par RT-PCR. Ainsi la confirmation de la fièvre jaune dans ce district, le faible niveau de couverture vaccinale, la réalité de la circulation du virus et la présence du vecteur dans le pays devraient avertir d´une réelle menace de réémergence de la fièvre jaune au Tchad.

Este artículo amplía las observaciones que hice en septiembre de 2023 en las IX Jornadas de Estudio y Reflexión sobre Movimientos Estudiantiles, y resume los puntos principales de mi reciente investigación plasmada en Decolonizing 1968: Transnational Student Activism in Tunis, Paris, and Dakar. Se sostiene que las protestas de 1968 deben ser entendidas como un momento postcolonial y explico mi comprensión de lo que significa “descolonizar” en 1968 en el mundo francófono frente a cómo la praxis descolonial ha sido articulada por académicos latinoamericanos clave. Por último, ofrezco viñetas de activistas que cruzaron fronteras como Omar Blondin-Diop, Daniel Cohn-Bendit y Michel Foucault.

The African liberation movements and the early phases of nation-building on the continent, intertwined with the Cold War and the global student movement, left behind an array of textual, visual, and sonic traces that circulated through underground and clandestine networks across Africa and beyond. These cultural products, which include materials in African languages, remain marginalized in studies of African history and arts. This article posits the cultural underground of decolonization in Africa as a productive category for historical and literary inquiry and argues that exploring the literary and aesthetic aspects of this archive offers other ways of knowing and temporal epistemes important for the reconsideration of aesthetics, politics, and histories in and of Africa. I explore poems and songs from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, and Senegal to show how they provide avenues for a renewed engagement with decolonization and revolution. "Decolonizing 1968: Transnational Student Activism in Tunis, Paris, and Dakar" by Burleigh Hendrickson is a book that explores the interconnectedness of protest movements, decolonization, and national liberation struggles during the Global 1960s. The author argues that student militancy in Paris, Dakar, and Tunis in 1968 represented a postcolonial moment in history, rather than simply being influenced by events in Paris. The book examines the structures of French-style universities, the relationships between students and professors, and the failure of postcolonial governments and university administrations to adapt, which led to simultaneous moments of upheaval in France, Senegal, and Tunisia. The author's research includes archival work in Senegal, France, and Tunisia, and highlights the voices of subaltern individuals from the Global South. In contrast with the imperial period, historians have overlooked African exile politics during the subsequent decades of one-party and military rule. Focusing on the Malian case, this article proceeds in three parts. The first section explores the creation in Africa, in particular in Ivory Coast and Senegal, of clandestine opposition movements to Moussa Traoré's regime. The second section focuses on Europe, particularly France, where dissidents benefitted from an unparalleled openness of the political system compared to that seen in African countries. The final section investigates the influence of these networks spanning Africa and Europe on the formation of pro-democracy organizations in Mali and the final overthrow of the Traoré regime in 1991. Theorizing exile as a process which enabled activists to operate in abeyance despite repression – before being able to emerge more openly – refines our understanding of political transitions which were driven by the juncture of internal and external dynamics. At the time of writing this editorial, there was the spectre of the global economy grinding to a halt as a consequence of the impact and response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Most of the participants described how they saw the fragility of the state in the current epoch not just in the state's inability to provide homes, health facilities and employment for the people, but in its aloofness from the people and their needs. Some speakers asserted that it was not clear who was the target for the state - the virus, or the workers and peasants that the state is expected to serve. As one discussant put it: 'it is not clear whom the state is fighting: Covid-19 or the poor, as the state via the oppressive apparatus continues to brutalise and terrorise those living in informal settlements'.
