Purpose: To evaluate the surgical performance of novice surgeons operating on a three-dimensional (3D) heads-up display system compared to those using a traditional microscope (TM). Methods: Prospective study design in a private practice setting. Twenty novice surgeons with similar experiences in cataract surgery were selected. Each surgeon performed 20 phacoemulsification cataract surgeries: 10 surgeries on the 3D heads-up display microscope, and 10 surgeries using a TM system. Data were collected from a total of 400 patients operated on by 20 surgeons. Outcome measures were recorded and graded according to the International Council of Ophthalmology’s Ophthalmology Surgical Competency Assessment Rubric-Phacoemulsification system. The main outcome measure was mean surgical competency scores. Results: Overall, 400 data points were equally distributed between TM (200) and 3D (200) surgeries. The mean surgical competency scores were 60.19 (11.41) for TM surgeries and 62.99 (11.11) for 3D surgeries. 3D surgeries had significantly higher surgical competency scores than TM surgeries (P = 0.013). The mean surgical duration for TM and 3D surgeries was 35.98 (6.02) min and 34.31 (7.12) min, respectively. 3D surgeries took significantly less time than TM surgeries (P = 0.012). The overall mean best corrected visual acuity in the logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution units was 0.27 (0.42); in TM and 3D surgeries, it was 0.28 (0.43) units and 0.26 (0.41) units, respectively. Conclusion: The 3D heads-up display system enhances stereopsis in cataract surgery, making it a valuable training tool for novice surgeons in phacoemulsification procedures.

A lightweight strawberry detection and localization algorithm plays a crucial role in enabling the harvesting robot to effectively harvest strawberries. The YOLO model has often been used in strawberry fruit detection for its high accuracy, speed, and robustness. However, some challenges exist, such as the requirement for large model sizes, high computation operation, and undesirable detection. Therefore, the lightweight improved YOLOv5s-CGhostnet was proposed to enhance strawberry detection. In this study, YOLOv5s underwent comprehensive model compression with Ghost modules GCBS and GC3, replacing modules CBS and C3 in the backbone and neck. Furthermore, the default GIOU bounding box regressor loss function was replaced by SIOU for improved localization. Similarly, CBAM attention modules were added before SPPF and between the up-sampling and down-sampling feature fusion FPN–PAN network in the neck section. The improved model exhibited higher mAP@0.5 of 91.7% with a significant decrement in model size by 85.09% and a reduction in GFLOPS by 88.5% compared to the baseline model of YOLOv5. The model demonstrated an increment in mean average precision, a decrement in model size, and reduced computation overhead compared to the standard lightweight YOLO models.

Background: Among the people who die annually of rabies worldwide, the majority either did not receive post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), or received PEP after substantial delays or were administered PEP according to schedules that deviated from WHO recommendations. This study focuses on post-exposure rabies vaccine compliance and on the reasons for non-adherence. Methods: A mixed-method study was done among people exposed to animal bite who visited a PHC during January to December 2022.The participant list was taken from the register maintained at PHC and the data was collected by semi-structured questionnaire followed by in-depth interview. Results: The major cause for noncompliance with the ARV vaccination was failure to remember ARV schedule (52.4%), followed by lack of awareness of animal bite (19.6%) poor knowledge of ARV completion (16.2%), lack of time and access (9.4%) and choice of native treatment (2.4%). On multivariate analysis of the factors influencing rabies vaccine compliance, age, area of residence and socio-economic status were found to be statistically significant. Conclusion: The study results highlight the importance of imparting health education to increase vaccine compliance to prevent rabies.

Abstract This work presents a series of novel quinoidal organic semiconductors based on diselenophene‐dithioalkylthiophene (DSpDST) conjugated cores with various side‐chain lengths (‐thiohexyl, ‐thiodecyl, and ‐thiotetradecyl, designated DSpDSTQ‐6, DSpDSTQ‐10, and DSpDSTQ‐14, respectively). The purpose of this research is to develop solution‐processable organic semiconductors using dicyanomethylene end‐capped organic small molecules for organic field effect transistors (OFETs) application. The physical, electrochemical, and electrical properties of these new DSpDSTQs are systematically studied, along with their performance in OFETs and thin film morphologies. Additionally, the molecular structures of DSpDSTQ are determined through density functional theory (DFT) calculations and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. The results reveal the presence of intramolecular S (alkyl)···Se (selenophene) interactions, which result in a planar SR‐containing DSpDSTQ core, thereby promoting extended π‐orbital interactions and efficient charge transport in the OFETs. Moreover, the influence of thioalkyl side chain length on surface morphologies and microstructures is investigated. Remarkably, the compound with the shortest thioalkyl chain, DSpDSTQ‐6, demonstrates ambipolar carrier transport with the highest electron and hole mobilities of 0.334 and 0.463 cm2 V−1 s−1, respectively. These findings highlight the excellence of ambipolar characteristics of solution‐processable OFETs based on DSpDSTQs even under ambient conditions.

This study delves into the investigation of Maxwell fluid flow across a sheet with a particular effort on the melting heat and zero mass flux at the boundary. A Maxwell fluid, characterized by both viscous and elastic responses, plays a pivotal role in various industrial and biological applications. The mathematical model describing Maxwell fluid flow is represented using non-linear momentum and energy equations, incorporating MHD. Similarity transformation is used to change from partial differential equation to ordinary differential equation. The introduction of a phase change term in the energy equation accounts for the melting heat effect at the boundary. The BVP4C solver using MATLAB is hired to numerically answer the system of equations, enabling the determination of the steady-state solution. The solution of this investigation offers valuable insights into the interplay between viscoelasticity and melting heat effects on various flow characteristics, including velocity and temperature profiles. The practical significance of this research is evident in polymer processing, food processing, and materials engineering, where the understanding of Maxwell fluids and their interaction with melting boundaries is essential for process optimization and product quality. So far in the literature survey no one have considered Melting heat effect along with Maxwell fluid. The conclusion for this study is that Melting heat effect increases velocity profile and decreases the temperature profile. This is the main conclusion of this research.

The optimal indoor environment is associated with comfortable temperatures along with favorable indoor air quality. One of the air pollutants, particulate matter (PM), is potentially harmful to animals and humans. Most farms have monitoring systems to identify other hazardous gases rather than PM due to the sensor cost. In recent decades, the application of environmental monitoring systems based on Internet of Things (IoT) devices that incorporate low-cost sensors has elevated extensively. The current study develops a low-cost air quality monitoring system for swine buildings based on Raspberry Pi single-board computers along with a sensor array. The system collects data using 11 types of environmental variables along with temperature, humidity, CO2, light, pressure, and different types of gases, namely PM1, PM2.5, and PM10. The system is designed with a central web server that provides real-time data visualization and data availability through the Internet. It was tested in actual pig barns to ensure stability and functionality. In addition, there was a collocation test conducted by placing the system in two different pig barns to validate the sensor data. The Wilcoxon rank sum test demonstrates that there are no significant differences between the two sensor datasets, as all variables have a p-value greater than 0.05. However, except for carbon monoxide (CO), none of the variables exhibit correlation exceeding 0.5 with PM concentrations. Overall, a scalable, portable, non-complex, low-cost air quality monitoring system was successfully developed within a cost of USD 94.

Introduction: Hearing loss is one of the most prevalent congenital disorders in infants. Neonatal hearing screening is an important tool for early detection of hearing impairment in newborns. Present study is aimed to assess the impact of hearing among babies born to gestational diabetic mothers. Material & Methods: This study was conducted among 100 pregnant mothers who gave birth in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department in a medical college in Pondicherry from December 2020 to July 2022. 50 pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) were assigned to Group 1 and 50 pregnant women who had no GDM were assigned to Group 2. Hearing screening among the infants were done using Otoacoustic emissions and Brainstem evoked response audiometry (OAE and BERA). The results in Group 1 and Group 2 were collected, analysed and compared. Results: All patients were between 20 – 45 years of age. The average gestational age was 39.2±5.7 from 36 weeks to 42 weeks. In the present study OAE has shown that 40% babies had bilateral refer and 18% had unilateral refer in GDM mothers which significantly higher than the normal mothers. BERA showed that 14% had hearing loss among those of the GDM mothers which was significantly higher than the normal mothers. Comparison of abnormal hearing screening between the two groups were significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Gestational diabetes mellitus increases the risk of hearing impairment in newborns. Timely detection and standardised management should be followed and early intervention procedures should be studied and developed.

The titled compound TA structure was optimized in B3LYP/cc-pVDZ basis set using Gaussian software. In natural bond orbital analysis the highest stabilization energy is 82.3 kcal/mol, which is confirmed by LP(1)-C19 to antibonding π*(C13-C14). Electron localization and delocalization areas are confirmed by wavefunction studies. The Gaussian-16w software establishes thermodynamic properties for a titled compound which is confirmed by various solvents. The HOMO and LUMO analysis ethanol have the highest energy gap value, which is 5.88 eV. In molecular electrostatic potential study nitrogen is the nucleophilic attack (blue color) and oxygen is the electrophilic attack (red color). In non-linear optical (NLO) study water solvent shows the highest dipole moment activity. The docking study showed the greatest binding affinity score of −4.08 kcal/mol.

The absorption studies on serotonin (STO) and platinum metal clusters were investigated. The STO-Pt3 (gas phase) cluster has the maximum adsorption energy, whereas the water medium has the lowest. The gas phase STO-Pt3 absorption energy is -19.18 kcal/mol, while the water solvent is -11.03. The electrophilicity index of all metal-drug systems is greater, indicating that metal clusters make the serotonin more electrophilic. The cluster's conductivity representation as energy gaps pointed, suggesting it could be a sensor. A more stable gas phase medium has more negative solvation energies than other media types. The metal clusters and molecules interacted substantially in non-covalent interaction studies. Electron localized function (ELF) and localized orbital locator (LOL) experiments proved electron delocalization energies and reduced density gradient (RDG) confirmed non-covalent interactions. Molecular electrostatic potential shows the electrophilic and nucleophilic attractions of STO with Pt3 metal clusters. Frontier molecular orbital (FMO) studies show very low energy gap values.

Purpose: To determine the safety and efficacy of low-energy settings in small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) for correcting myopia and myopic astigmatism. Methods: We included patients aged ≥18 years with the myopia of −0.5 to −10 D and myopic astigmatism of −0.5 to −5 Dcyl in this retrospective case series performed at a private eye hospital in South India. All patients had preoperative best-corrected visual acuity of LogMar 0.0 ± 0, with stable refraction for 1 year and normal corneal topography. Ocular surface disease and other pathology cases were excluded. The repetition rate of the laser was 500 kHz, and the pulse energy was 110 nJ. The lenticule diameter was set at 6.5 mm, cap diameter was 7.20 mm, and intended cap thickness was 110–130 μ. The spot distance was 4.5 μm. All patients were evaluated immediately postoperation and on postoperative days 1, 8, and 30. Results: Overall, 541 eyes were included. The mean patient age was 25.03 ± 4.1 years. The mean spherical error was -3.76 ± 1.84 Ds. The mean cylinder was -1.24 ± 0.91. The mean spherical equivalent of refraction was −4.22 ±1.94 D. The logMAR on postoperative day 1 was 0.0 ± 0. The mean spherical equivalent at 1 month was 0.28 ± 1.06 D. There was no loss of Snellen's lines after the procedure. The mean spherical equivalent of refraction to the target was 95% within ± 0.50 D. The postoperative astigmatism was within 0.5 Dycl. No intraoperative complications of SMILE including retained lenticule fragments, tears of incision, or improper dissection occurred. Conclusion: Low-energy settings in SMILE are safe and effective in correcting myopia and myopic astigmatism including high cylinders (>3 Dcyl).

The control of a rotary inverted pendulum (RIP) is challenging because it is an underactuated, highly sensitive, and unsteady system. Sliding mode control (SMC) is a nonlinear control method with high-frequency switching control. Designing a proportional integral derivative (PID) controller for a RIP is challenging due to its nonlinearity and instability in open-loop characteristics. The primacy of the SMC over the PID is the stability of the closed-loop. Hybrid control of a PID-SMC controller can provide better performance because this technique demonstrates less chatter, higher precision, no oscillation, and adequate gain tuning. To achieve gain tuning, the PID and SMC parameters must be optimized. Thus, this paper proposed a congruently tuned control strategy (CTCS) to fine-tune the controller parameters. The proposed strategy uses an improved whale optimization algorithm (WOA), i.e., the modified Manhattan distance updated WOA (MMD-WOA) to identify effective coefficient values for the sliding surface to reduce tracking errors while reaching the desired position. The proposed CTCS for a RIP with the MMD-WOA was implemented, and the results are very promising.

Partial vaned diffusers (PVDs) play a pivotal role in optimizing the performance of turbomachinery systems by efficiently managing fluid flow and pressure differentials. This study delves into the geometric configurations of partial vaned diffusers, examining how variations in vane positioning impact performance. In this study, a PVD is attached either along the hub side (PHVD) or shroud side (PSVD), and a comparison is made between these configurations. Computational fluid dynamics simulations are carried out using ANSYS CFX to elucidate the complex flow patterns within these diffusers for two different mass flow rates, namely 0.30 kg/s and 0.90 kg/s. Flow parameters like pressure, total pressure in the stationary frame, meridional velocity, and velocity are measured. The flow in PSVD is observed to be uniform and the rise in pressure in PSVD is observed to improve by around 4.5% with respect to PHVD. Other flow parameters such as meridional velocity and total pressure are in favor of PSVD.

The Asian elephant is mostly confined to mountainous ranges and therefore risks population fragmentation if hard protected area (PA) boundaries near steep slopes prevent movement. We tested whether elephant gene flow is (i) controlled by slope and (ii) affected by the interplay between barriers and slope. We used 176 unique genotypes obtained non-invasively from fresh elephant dung to assess individual-by-individual genetic distance across the Western Ghats of India, a biodiversity hotspot. To assess landscape distance, 36 resistance models were produced by transforming a slope raster. Core areas and corridors were calculated from the raster that provided the best correlation between the genetic and distance matrices. The influence of the closure of PAs on gene flow was examined for one region, the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The best resistance raster obtained by transforming the slope occupancy model was better than Euclidean distance for explaining genetic distance, indicating that slope partially controls gene flow. Fencing elephant PAs on hilly terrain reduces core areas and disrupts corridors. Consequently, hard PA boundaries abutting slopes can fragment elephant populations, but this can be ameliorated by protecting the adjacent flatter terrain.

Abstract Background Neurodegenerative diseases are a major health concern which requires promising drugs with appropriate drug delivery systems. The aim of the present study was development and characterization of curcumin-loaded coconut oil microemulsion (Cur-ME) and to improve the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics performance. Initially, solubility study and emulsification study were performed for preliminary screening of the components. Pseudoternary phase diagram was constructed using selected components, and composition of Cur-ME was finalized. Furthermore, in vitro drug release in vivo pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic was performed. Results The final formulation exhibited globule size less than 20 nm with PDI and zeta potential as 0.24 and −17 mV, respectively. The formulation showed more than 90% drug content with no signs of precipitation upon dilution and centrifugation. In vitro drug release revealed 2.12-fold improvement in dissolution. In vivo plasma pharmacokinetics of Cur-ME revealed twofolds and 2.48-fold improvement in AUC and Cmax, respectively, than that of Cur-Sol. Early duration drought tolerant rice culture CB 06803, a derivative of the cross PMK (R ) 3 x Norungan was released as Rice CO 53 during the year 2020 as an alternate variety for Anna(R)4, with 115 -120 days duration. It possesses desirable features like high yield, drought tolerance and better physiological efficiency. This culture with semi dwarf stature has efficient tillering capacity, long droopy panicles with a highly acceptable plant characters and is a replacement for the rice variety Anna (R) 4 due to its grain yield and pest and disease resistance. In the overall yield analysis, the culture CB06803 recorded an overall mean grain yield of 3718 kg/ha which was 12.19 per cent increase over TKM (R) 12 and 14.08 per cent over Anna (R) 4 under dry condition. Under semi dry condition, it recorded 3866 kg/ha with 18.40 per cent increase over TKM (R) 12 and 8.67 per cent over Anna (R) 4. It is moderately resistant to WBPH, leaf blast, neck blast, sheath rot, brown spot and RTD under artificial condition. It has white short bold rice with high milling percentage (69.6), head rice recovery (59.6%) and suitable for idly making. The culture, CB 06803 had better agronomic efficiency than TKM (R)12 and Anna (R) 4 by recording more number of productive tillers per plant and grain yield under control and drought. The culture CB 06803 had better physiological efficiency under drought than TKM (R) 12 and Anna (R) 4 having higher RWC, total chlorophyll content, chlorophyll stability index, photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance and photo chemical efficiency. The culture had higher proline content than TKM (R) 12 and was on par with Anna (R) 4. It had higher catalase activity than Anna (R) 4. CB 06803 had better physiological efficiency under drought by showing partial closure of stomata as that of Sahbagidhan. CO 53 with higher grain yield under drought, disease resistance and short bold grains and suitable for cultivation in drought prone districts of Tamil Nadu as direct seeded rainfed or semi dry rice ecosystem.

Pythagorean neutrosophic soft set (PNSS set) is a new approach towards decision making under uncertainty. The PNSS set has much stronger abilities than the neutrosophic soft set and the Pythagorean fuzzy soft set. In this paper, we discuss aggregated operations for aggregating the PNSS decision matrix. The TOPSIS and VIKOR methods are strong approaches for multi criteria group decision making (MCGDM), which is various extensions of neutrosophic soft sets. In this approach, we propose a score function based on aggregating TOPSIS and VIKOR methods to the PNSS-positive ideal solution and the PNSS-negative ideal solution. Also, the TOPSIS and VIKOR methods provide the weights of decision-making. Afterward, a revised closeness is introduced to identify the optimal alternative.

A novel method is presented for solving MADM under a sine trigonometric Pythagorean neutrosophic normal interval-valued set (ST-PyNSNIVS). An identifying feature of ST-PyNSNIVS is that it is a combination of PyNSIVS, PyNSS, and IVNSS. This article proposes a novel concept of ST-PyNSNIVWA, ST-PyNSNIVWG, ST-GPyNSNIVWA, and ST-GPyNSNIVWG. In addition, we acquired a flowchart and an algorithm that interact with MADM and are called ST-PyNSNIVWA, ST-PyNSNIVWG, ST-GPyNSNIVWA, and ST-GPyNSNIVWG, respectively. In addition to Euclidean and Hamming distances, we addressed new types of two distances in the suggested models, which are future expansions of real-life instances. The sine trigonometric aggregation operations were examined using the PyNSNIV set technique. They are more straightforward and practical, and you can arrive at the best option quickly. Consequently, the conclusions of the defined models are more accurate and closely correlated with Σ. Our analysis shows that the investigated models are valid and useful by comparing them to some of the current models. As a final result of the study, some intriguing and enthralling findings are presented.

We introduce the notion of neutrosophic subbisemiring( shortly NSBS), level sets of NSBS and neutrosophic normal subbisemiring (NNSBS) of a bisemiring. The concept of neutrosophic subbisemiring is a new generalization of fuzzy subbisemiring over bisemiring. Examples are provided to illustrate our results.

Purpose: To compare four different types of intra ocular lenses (IOLs), namely, AT LISA, Eyecryl SERT trifocal, Eyhance, Eyecryl SERT extended depth of focus (EDOF) with respect to their clinical outcomes. Methods: This is a retrospective comparative study in which patients who underwent surgery and one of the four types of IOL were implanted. Postoperative evaluation was recorded at one month, postoperatively. The monocular uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) (6 m), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA) (60 cm), distance-corrected intermediate visual acuity (CIVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA) (40 cm), and corrected near visual acuity (CNVA) were assessed postoperatively on post operative day 30, for all four IOL groups. Defocus curve and contrast sensitivity were also compared. Results: With regards to UDVA and CDVA, P value was not statistically significant. (P = 0.534 and 0.421, respectively).
