Abstract

The article asserts that compared to instructional strategies that reward students for factual recall, ecoliteracy educators could guide their students to develop a deeper awareness of ecological connectivity by employing model-based pedagogical practices that could provide them with opportunities to form scientific habits of mind. It cites a study that showed how students learned to apply science process skills more readily when they worked with graphical models of scientific information.
