Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from Colegio de Postgraduados in Texcoco, Mexico, evaluated the sustainability of two types of agave tequilana Weber var. blue agroecosystems in Tequila, Jalisco. The study compared monoculture and polyculture agroecosystems and found that polyculture was more sustainable in 13 out of 15 indicators evaluated. The research concluded that the evaluation of sustainability determined that the Agave tequilana polyculture agroecosystem is more sustainable than monoculture. This study provides valuable insights into the environmental and social consequences of agave farming practices in the tequila industry. [Extracted from the article]
