In this article, I explore Karl Marx’s evolving understanding of the temporal dimensions within capitalism, particularly focusing on his reflections during the 1850s and 1860s. This period marks a significant shift in Marx’s theoretical framework, prompted by his in-depth analysis of the world market and diverse modes of exploitation. The article highlights coexisting forms of exploitation and their entanglement in terms of temporalities. From this perspective, capitalism and its history can be investigated as a complex interplay of temporal layers rather than a linear progression. Marx’s 1858 letter serves as a starting point, emphasizing the importance of accumulation as a long-term process and the challenges of a revolutionary project in a globalized capitalist context. Finally, the paper emphasizes Marx’s mature writings, where he envisions the potential for combining historical layers to challenge capitalism. This nuanced understanding has contemporary implications for globalized capitalism and social change discussions.

This comment reviews Dale Tomich's exceptional methodological contribution to world-historical analysis, from the perspective of a close collegial dialogue over the last 50 years. It focuses on Tomich's preoccupation with what he calls historical theory, through his outstanding and consequential research on world-historic slave systems' actualization of capital's emergent world market. Aside from Tomich's detailed research on slave systems in the New World, his opus embodies a sophisticated and original critical dialogue with Marxist orthodoxy on the dialectical relationship between theory and history. Identifying price fluctuation patterns between traditional, alternative energy resources of raw material origin and the systemic world transformations is vital in understanding the variability of stable and effective functioning of relevant assets at different stages of economic waves in the context of global environmental challenges. This study was aimed at examining the dynamics of irregularity in the prices of various energy resources derived from raw materials in the global economy as investment assets within the framework of global economic changes. The price pattern of conventional and alternative energy resources on the global market were also examined alongside the connection between them and the price of electricity. The study made use of the monitoring method and the comparison method of various energy resources in terms of costs, availability, the influence they have on the market, and how they differ from each other. Secondary data was also collected from monographs and publications by Ukrainians and international experts on the subject matter. The analysis of the structure of energy resources was done in a retrospective manner following the reporting format of international organizations chosen as a base. Results revealed that the price dependency of traditional and renewable energy sources differs. While traditional energy is connected to economic cycles, the price of renewable energy is more influenced by technological advancements and less by global economic cycles. It is interesting to note that the price of renewable energy is mostly unaffected by global challenges and crises. The study recommend the results to be applied in national strategies for forecasting prices and modeling market conditions and consumer demand. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTERNATIONAL trade ,PRODUCE trade ,COMMERCIAL treaties ,ECONOMIC competition - Abstract
The article is devoted to studying the structural and dynamic changes in international trade in agricultural products in Ukraine. The authors reveal the theoretical essence of international trade in agricultural products, considering export and import conditions in light of modern challenges. The assessment of the foreign trade regime is provided and the trends and impact of implementing the Agreement on Association between Ukraine and the EU on the development of Ukraine's foreign trade are established. It was found that, on one hand, the export orientation of raw materials to the EU crop production market has increased, while on the other hand, there remains a high import dependence on prepared food products, with a more diversified import structure. The peculiarities of key directions of Ukraine's agro-industrial market under martial law and its place in the global food security system are described. The article also examines the structure of Ukraine's trading partners, which have been revised since the beginning of the war. The peculiarities of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in international trade in agricultural products are analysed. Ways of diversifying exports and increasing the profitability of foreign trade in agricultural products from Ukraine in the EU market are suggested. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of the article is to assess the competitiveness of the Polish agri-food products in exports to the world market in 2018-2022. The study analysed the value, rate of change, structure and main directions of exports and imports of agri-food products (excluding beverages). Three quantitative indicators characterising export competitiveness were also used: market share, import export coverage and intra-industry trade. The source of the data was the United Nations database UN COMTRADE. The Standard International Trade Classification (SITC Rev 3) at the two-digit level was used. The time scope of the research covered the years 2018-2022. The research shows that in the analysed period, there was a clear increase in the value of food exports from Poland, which resulted in an improved market share and promotion in the ranking of global food exporters. Germany was the largest trading partner. A decrease in the importance of the UK and Russia in exports and an increase in the importance of Ukraine in food imports were observed. The meat and meat products department was characterised by the highest export competitiveness on the world market.

Due to the environmental impacts of fossil fuels, agro-industrial residues have become a viable alternative for a more ecological production of fuels. This research aims to investigate Brazil's participation in the technology developments by using biomass to produce second-generation ethanol. Searches were carried out using technological information contained in patent documents applied worldwide. The results showed an increase in the number of patents applied between 2006 and 2015, but not enough for the sector to reach technological maturity to deal with the great challenges faced by industrial plants on a commercial scale. Public investments have directly impacted the creation of inventions associated with second-generation ethanol. Among the players, Chinese public organizations stand out, as well as North American companies and, to a much less extent, Brazilian universities. Most private companies originated from traditional petrochemical sectors, evidencing a strategic movement of capital already established to meet the growing trends towards biofuels. Despite being the second-largest ethanol producer globally, Brazil has low national technological development. Even though a recent downturn was felt, it is concluded that the sector faces a favorable scenario in the production of biofuels for the coming decades, based on new technological routes.

The war that Russia started against Ukraine more than a year ago, which is the largest in scale since World War II, continues in Ukraine. Starting from February 24, 2022, martial law has been introduced in Ukraine. In connection with this, Ukraine has faced a number of issues that require careful study, immediate operational resolution, and state regulation. The foreign economic activity of enterprises under conditions of martial law has a certain specificity. Throughout the full-scale war, the country's economy has suffered enormous losses, which continue to accumulate. A detailed analysis of the current situation and the factors that affect it plays a significant role in stabilizing and restoring the economy, and based on the conclusions drawn, prompt state regulation of foreign economic activity is essential to ensure national security. State regulation of foreign economic activity is aimed at protecting Ukraine's economic interests, as well as the rights and legitimate interests of foreign economic activity entities. Currently, foreign economic activity should ensure national security without exaggeration. In modern conditions, when some budget-forming enterprises of the state are destroyed or damaged, part of the territory is occupied, and another is constantly shelled in the combat zone, international logistics routes for export and import of goods and logistics centers for supply and storage of goods are disrupted, the energy system is experiencing unprecedented destruction, some international transport corridors are closed, and others work with significant overload, state regulation of foreign economic activity of enterprises is of great importance. At the same time, it is important to create favorable conditions for enterprises operating in conditions of combat and restrictions. State regulation of foreign economic activity should provide their protection and support, including by reducing bureaucratic obstacles, accelerating customs clearance procedures, and simplifying rules for the export and import of goods. These measures will help enterprises maintain competitiveness in crisis conditions and strengthen their positions in the international market.

The current global market for armaments and military equipment in the second half of the 20th century has went through several transformative stages of its development and has now reached a qualitatively new evolution level. The aim of the study is to analyse the key trends in changing Russia’s positions in the global arms trade, including an assessment of its export and investment potential in defence industry, and opportunities for cooperation with key regional and global partners. It has been shown, that the international competitiveness of the Russian defence industry and the development of its military-technical cooperation with foreign countries continue to be affected by the specific conditions of the industry, in particular: weak susceptibility to major changes in the arms trade; high role of state protectionism; international technology transfer; globalisation of the world economy as a whole. An important role in shaping the current image of the military-technical cooperation is played by the dynamic and constant rearmament of the army, offset services and the partnerships cooperative networks’ formation, on which the flexibility and adaptability of the external economic component of defence industry operations depend. At present, the development of Russia’s armaments and military equipment trade will be mainly driven by the restoration of its lost positions on the global market.

Using a sample of nonfinancial domestic firms in transition economies from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, we examine whether and how inter-industry spillover from foreign direct investment in the banking sector occurs. Our findings show that the innovation pursued by domestic firms benefits from foreign bank penetration. However, these positive inter-industry spillovers surprisingly do not seem to work through enhanced credit access. We further find these positive spillovers to occur mainly for foreign banks that use relationship lending, domestic firms that do not export, and host countries that are less open to the global market. KEYWORDS FDI spillovers, foreign banks, innovation, services FDI, transition economies, 1 | INTRODUCTION How foreign direct investment (FDI) influences domestic firms' performance is important because it could help policy makers decide how open they should be to FDI. The production of and trade with synthetic liquid fuels (SLF) is an integral part of the global market. The issues of energy security and energy independence have especially acutely raised before the countries of the world in the light of today’s conditions. They are especially important for Ukraine, which has suffered enormous damage as a result of full-scale military aggression of the russian federation. Positive experience in the development of SLF production in the countries of the world and global trends prove the relevance of further study of this problem in order to identify opportunities and ways to meet domestic needs for liquid fuels on this basis. The purpose of the presented research is to determine the features and prospects for the development of the global SLF market. The article analyzes the raw materials-based and regional features of the development of the SLF market, as well as the main technologies of its production and the main manufacturers. It is determined that the development of world production of SLF today takes place in two different (alternative) directions, which are determined not only by the use of different resource bases, but also by production goals, i. e.: the production of SLF based on the use of GTL technologies in order to expand the commodity (including the export) nomenclature of hydrocarbons produced in the country; production of SLF based on the use of СTL technologies to cover the shortage of liquid hydrocarbons in the country. It is proved that the growth factors of the SLF market, including: the unstable situation in the crude oil market; political uncertainty in the world and dependence on oil supplier countries, which does not ensure the energy security of consumer countries; the environmental friendliness of the SLF and the desire of governments to achieve the zero emissions target by 2050, etc., suggest an even stronger growth in the synthetic fuel market than predicted, since the issues of energy security and energy independence in the context of the military aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine have come to the fore in many countries of the world, which will intensify the acquisition of other sources of fuel production in particular.

International economic relations at the beginning of the 21st century are experiencing a new reality, when many world economy achievements of the globalization era are being reversed, and the entire system of economic cooperation between the countries is undergoing revolutionary changes. In this context, there have been significant shifts in the structure and trends of militarytechnical cooperation between Russia and foreign countries, when the existing strategic approaches to the organization of this process are being radically modified. The article shows that the main narratives of these changes are the unprecedented strengthening of anti-Russian sanctions, which caused a change in the methods of foreign economic policy, which significantly affected the development of the military-industrial complex, the strategy for realizing its export and investment potential. In this regard, the issues of sectoral import substitution, diversification of the defense industry, formation and implementation of the state defense order in this sector of the national economy are becoming highly controversial and complex. The ever-increasing deepening of cooperation and integration ties with partners from developing countries and the actual curtailment of these ties with developed countries is a strategic long-term task designed to ensure both the development of the defense industry and the elimination of existing geopolitical risks. At the same time, within the framework of the defense industry strategy, it is still difficult to call the task of prompt response to new emerging risks solved, and this aspect should underlie the new model of Russia’s military-technical cooperation with foreign countries.

The article presents the question of the effect of the effectiveness of various elements of cultivation technologies on the competitiveness of Camelina sativa and the profitability of its cultivation on acidic, low--fertility sod-podzolic soils. Fertilizers are one of the fast-acting and effective factors in increasing the yield of Camelina sativa. It was established that introduction of mineral fertilizers had a significant impact on competitiveness of Camelina sativa seeds. Dependence of productivity elements and yielding capacity on crops has been determined. It was established that spring cruciferous crops had different seed productivity. According to the results of conducted research, it was found that the highest seed yielding capacity among spring cruciferous crops had spring Brassica napus L., but the oil content in Camelina sativa seeds was 46.53%, which is 4.08% more than in Brassica napus L. Therefore, oil outcome from the yield of Brassica napus L. and Camelina sativa was almost the same. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In a rapidly changing global environment, companies need to understand how consumers connect to their brands and use their brands for sustainability. The relationships for consumer brand engagement, self-brand connection, and brand usage intent are important in e-commerce. While many other researchers have examined these relationships, few researchers have analyzed in global settings. We used Hofstede's six cultural dimensions to form four cultural clusters of countries and conducted surveys in each cluster to examine consumer brand engagement. Using cognitive processing, affection, and activation as the dimensions of consumer engagement, we found that cognitive processing and affection have significant relationships with self-brand connections for all cultural clusters. However, the relationship of activation with self-brand connection was only significant in one cluster. The relationship of activation to brand usage intent was significant in all four clusters, but cognitive processing was only significant in two clusters and affection in three clusters. We found that consumer engagement relationships to self-brand connection and brand usage intent for mega e-commerce providers such as Amazon differed based on the cultural cluster of participants., Introduction The purpose of this research is to examine the relationships between consumer brand engagement, self-brand connection, and brand usage intent in a global environment. Even though a recent downturn was felt, it is concluded that the sector faces a favorable scenario in the production of biofuels for the coming decades, based on new technological routes. Given the trends of 2020-2021, namely changes in the lifestyle of the world's population due to quarantine restrictions, it should be noted that the market of smokehouses, grills, barbecues and accessories to them was changed significantly. The study considers the segmentation of producers of smokehouses, grills and barbecues by type of product (gas, electric, coal) and consumer use (commercial and domestic). The dynamics of development of the world market of smokehouses, grills, barbecues and accessories to them in 2015-2025 is characterized (according to forecasts). The analysis of the regional structure of production and sales is carried out. The key players in the world market of smokehouses, barbecues, grills, barbecues and accessories to them were identified. Innovative solutions of manufacturers in recent years in this market were presented. It is concluded that the global and Ukrainian market of barbecues and grills is showing a positive trend in recent years, i.e. it has opportunities for growth as the number of restaurants and hotels increases and more and more people choose barbecue food. Priority steps are proposed for the entry of Ukrainian producers of smokehouses, grills, barbecues and accessories to them, which are not world market leaders in foreign markets. It is noted that it is difficult for Ukrainian producers to compete for the expansion of foreign markets. However, an effective tool in this case is the development of an effective marketing strategy, as well as the transfer of some tasks from the marketing of foreign markets to outsourcing. Accordingly, the identification of trends and prospects for the world market of smokehouses, grills, barbecues and accessories allows Ukrainian producers to develop and implement an export strategy to increase competitiveness and introduce the latest innovative technologies.

China and the USA are caught up in an exacting and complex competition for world hegemony. Both countries seek to instrumentalise the world market to their advantage and deploy their global power strategies at monetary, financial and economic levels, the USA as a means to maintain its global hegemony China to challenge this order and establish its own dominance. The current function of the national currency of the largest international net debtor as the dominant world money entails a systemic market-logical contradiction. Rising tensions between the USA and its allies and China will not be reduced by the renminbi becoming a world money.

37. Mercado mundial, imperialismo y derivación del Estado en Claudia Von Braunmühl.

- Abstract
Claudia von Braunmühl was part of the German State derivation debate. Her contribution focused on understanding the link between the State, the World Market and Imperialism. In this paper we propose to reconstruct and deepen her argument of the primacy of the World Market over States, and then advance in a critique of her perspective. The center of gravity of these is found in the observation of a juxtaposition of the levels of abstraction between the state, the world market and imperialism. We conclude that the juxtaposition of the levels of abstraction triggers a series of problems from which Claudia von Braunmühl fails to overcome the classical visions of imperialism. - Abstract
In the article, the author calculated and analyzed the dynamics of indicators of Ukraine's export potential for the period 2016–2021. The product structure of Ukraine's exports in 2021 was determined and the share of goods exports in Ukraine's GDP was calculated for 2016–2021, which provided an opportunity to summarize existing trends and to present certain practical proposals. It was established that, despite the crisis conditions of 2020–2022, the trends demonstrate the activation of Ukrainian exporters on the world markets, but the structure of trade in itself somewhat inhibits the processes, which is reflected by a negative indicator of trade turnover. It was determined that the possibilities of Ukraine's export potential demonstrate that in 2021, ferrous metals and grain products will account for larger sales volumes on foreign markets. It is noted that Ukraine's exports are growing faster than imports, and the country's high dependence on imports is a negative factor. It was established that Ukraine remains a raw material appendage. Therefore, from a strategic perspective, Ukraine aims to change this trend through the active development of industrial processing, which will change the shares exactly the opposite: to export 75% of finished products and services and only 25% of raw materials. It has been found that the impact on the opportunities of Ukraine's export potential is exerted by a complex of internal and external factors, which are of an acute problematic nature. Based on the results of the calculations, it was established that an urgent issue in order to expand the possibilities of realizing the export potential of Ukraine on world markets is the implementation of a balanced foreign economic policy of the state regarding the support of national producers, the stimulation of export-oriented products and increasing their competitiveness, bringing the legislative framework in the field of foreign economic activity to meet world standards. It was determined and proposed that to optimize the commodity structure of foreign trade, a strategic measure is the transition from a focus on raw material exports to the export of processed, processed or finished products with high added value, as well as supplementing the existing dominant export industries with other promising directions. In this paper, we aim to identify the intensity and nature of intra-industry specialisation in the global trade in citrus fruits. We used data from the United Nations Comtrade database. We performed both static and dynamic assessments of the intensity of intra-industry trade (IIT) by using the traditional Grubel-Lloyd index and the marginal IIT (MIIT) index, respectively. We also separated IIT into horizontal and vertical trade, and we verified the relationship between changes in the intra-industry pattern of trade and the level of comparative advantage gained by the largest producers and exporters of citrus fruits in the world. We used the revealed symmetric comparative advantage (RSCA) index to evaluate the level of international competitiveness. Conducting these analyses allowed us to fill the existing research gap by identifying the nature of IIT in products with specific quality characteristics but at a lower processing stage. The study's results indicated that the stronger the IIT or the more intensive shifts toward deepening the intra-industry specialisation, the lesser the comparative advantage of a country in the global export of citrus fruits. Nevertheless, the increased intensity of intra-industry specialisation does not always lead to a deterioration in the value of the trade balance.

The African continent is projected to increase population over the coming years. Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for the highest population growth projections and the most populous organizations that seek outsourcing. We explored whether three sub- Saharan African countries with U.N. growth projections as potential outsourcing destinations, and set out to identify what these countries could do to attract companies. We found that the limited support for growing organizations, such as electronics, is connected to having a limited skilled workforce in I.T. to support the growing organization's needs. To attain a suitable business environment and attract outsourcing clients and investors from other countries, African governments should take the initiative to improve their nations' specialized training and infrastructure., Introduction The African continent is projected to increase population over the coming years, with 2.5 billion people by 2050 and 4.5 billion people by 2100 (Goldstone, 2019; Suzuki, 2019; U.N. ENVIRONMENTAL policy , *GREENHOUSE gas mitigation - Abstract
Regulators would do well to develop a climate strategy with more ambitious climate targets and a comprehensive strategy to reduce GHG emissions in the oil and gas sector (including a strategy to reduce methane emissions). It may include a variety of regulatory mechanisms - standards, targets, requirements for monitoring, reporting and pricing of GHG emissions, rules for certification and verification of projects to reduce emissions, etc. It is also important to approve public funding for R&D and pilot projects to reduce GHG emissions, especially in areas of deep decarbonization. It is necessary to further analyze the competitive advantages of Russia in the field of decarbonization, and then promote them both domestically and on the world market. Corporations should include decarbonization in their overall business strategy and investment plans, rather than limiting it to health, safety, environment and investor relations departments. To implement an effective decarbonization strategy for any company, it is necessary to review the strategy and corporate governance as a whole. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This intervention responds to a series of articles—including one published in Antipode—on what is referred to as "new" state capitalism (NSC) or sometimes, simply, state capitalism. Our overarching argument is that by eliding state and institutionalist theory and, specifically, separating the analysis of state transformation from the power and leverage of social forces under late capitalism, NSC scholars end up offering an inaccurate, inchoate and incoherent conceptualisation and analysis of important phenomena. Our contention is that future work needs to return to socio‐relational analyses of the state, prioritising the power and leverage of social forces operating under patterns of accumulation characterised by more‐integrated‐than‐ever‐before global economic‐market relations and the concentration of productive and financial capital. In this article was found that the Ukrainian stock market did not take the right place as required by the market economy. It was created without a clear legal framework, weak understanding and uncertain behavior of the state in relation to exchange activities, as well as the absence of a state regulator that would coordinate, supervise and organize the work of commodity exchanges. It should be noted that the increase in sales of agricultural products on commodity exchanges in recent years has been largely achieved through the registration of export contracts on accredited exchanges, which had no practical impact on the pricing process and stabilization of the agricultural market. Proven low activity of participants in the use of forward contracts in exchange trade leads to restraint of the development of exchange trade in commodity derivatives for agricultural products. The main directions of development of the exchange agricultural market, which should be: stabilization of the political and economic environment in the country; improvement of the mechanism of regulation of the domestic exchange agricultural market; creation of favorable organizational and legal conditions for attracting foreign speculative capital; increasing the financial stability of agricultural market participants; availability of an effective exchange infrastructure of commodity markets; providing access to the electronic information field; development of requirements for licensing of professional participants of the exchange commodity market; creation of the necessary level of material and technological support of domestic commodity exchanges. The process of implementation of the latter should take place in stages and requires the creation of the above organizational and economic conditions. Theoretical and methodical bases of formation of organizational and economic model of effective functioning of the commodity exchange market of Ukraine aimed at effective regulation of the wholesale market of agricultural products, as a whole, and creation of system of self-regulation of such market which will provide activation of turnover of products and money at exchange auctions economic conditions of the shadow market, will contribute to the necessary increase in efficiency of production and sale of products on the stock market, staff elimination of the agricultural sector and the creation of a system of effective state regulation of market prices for agricultural products, food and consumed by the agricultural sector material and technical resources circulating in the wholesale market and the formation of market infrastructure for effective management of reproduction and sale of marketable products.

The review analyzes the state of the nanocoating market, shows main types of nanocoatings, as well as drivers and barriers to their development and application. Modern progress in the field of nanotechnology allows us to attribute nanocoating to high performance materials, the structure and properties of which can be “designed” according to specific functional criteria and the level of environmental impact. They present unique remarkable characteristics compared to conventional coating materials in construction industry. The government’s grandiose plans to commission new housing and road infrastructure, as well as ambitious projects to develop the Arctic and ensure national security, should lead to the growth of the industry as a whole, as well as to an increase in demand for more efficient, innovative building materials, including nanocoatings and nanopaints.

This article seeks to examine the remarkable literary venture of Odia culture that took a crucial step in creating space for world literature. Amid the plurality of conceptualizations of world literature as a commercial entity, a mode of circulation, an intellectual problem, a medium of international literary exchange, a dynamic system, and an emerging discipline, it sees world literature as a tool for liberating the indian region of Odisha from linguistic and cultural domination. The colonial controversy over the language policy and the constant struggle of the Odia-speaking territories prepared the grounds for the language movement which resulted in the formation of a language-based British province in 1936. The article explores the question whether the establishment of Odisha led to linguistic liberation or a paradigm shift from cultural dominance of Bengali and Hindi during the colonial era to the hegemony of english in the post-independence period. We argue that after India's independence the odia language and literature fell victim to neo-colonialism as a result of the adoption of the English language as the medium of internationalization. Additionally, we examine how world literature supported the liberation of the regional language and its literature from neo-colonialism by evaluating the contribution of the world literature book series titled Biswa Sahitya Granthamala, which was released in Odia by the publishing house granthamandir in 1969-1970.
