This thesis explores resistance work in Nazi-occupied France and Vichy France during World War II. The research uses paramilitary acts of resistance as a foil to political resistance, intelligence gathering and evasive resistance, and the home front as a site of resistance to spotlight women’s contributions to the French resistance. By exploring several types of resistance work and women’s participation (or lack thereof) in various resistance organizations, this thesis seeks to not only establish the extent of women’s participation in the French resistance but also explore their challenge to the established gender roles within the resistance. This thesis explores the extent of women’s resistance activities across World War II France through internal organizations, such as the French Communist Party and the French Resistance, and external organizations like the Bureau Central de Renseignements et d’Action (BCRA), British Special Operatives Executive’s F (French) Section (SOE), the British Secret Intelligence Service, and the American Office of Strategic Services (OSS). In the context of these organizations’ activities, this thesis analyzes the gendering of resistance while considering the presence of women in various resistance organizations and their resistance activities to contextualize scope and scale of women’s contributions to resistance work in occupied and Vichy France.

Human‐carnivore conflicts pose significant challenges in the management and conservation of carnivores across the globe. Abundant research has led to generalizable insights into the causes of such conflicts. For example, conflicts predictably occur when carnivores have access to human food resources, particularly when their natural foods are scarce. However, similar insights into the effectiveness of interventions aimed at coexistence remains comparatively scarce. We hypothesized that this disparity might be reflected in a bias toward research focused on causes of conflict rather than interventions to address it. To test our hypothesis, we evaluated the content of studies on human–carnivore conflicts and coexistence in Canada and the United States from 2010 to 2021. We found that studies disproportionately focused on causes of conflict, with that discrepancy increasing through our study period. We also found a disproportionate focus on black bears and wolves and western jurisdictions, and a disproportionate use of observational (vs. experimental) approaches. Studies on conflict interventions were primarily directed at the carnivores themselves (e.g., lethal approaches) versus human elements (e.g., attractant management, policies), despite evidence that the latter are more effective. We expect that a shift in focus toward solutions‐oriented research, integrating insights across geographies, taxa, social contexts, and disciplines, would facilitate effective interventions and foster coexistence, improving outcomes for people and carnivores alike. Medical devices play a crucial role in human health. These are instruments, machines or even software programs used to diagnose, treat, monitor or prevent health conditions. They are designed to help improve patients' quality of life and range from simple items, such as thermometers, to more advanced technologies, such as pacemakers. In order to guarantee the safety and efficacy of medical devices intended for use on patients, the establishment of appropriate regulatory frameworks is crucial to ascertain whether devices function as intended, comply with safety standards and offer benefits that outweigh the associated risks. Depending on the country, different regulatory agencies are responsible for the evaluation of these products. The regulatory landscape for medical devices varies significantly across major markets, including the European Union, the United States of America and Japan, reflecting diverse approaches aimed at ensuring the safety and efficacy of medical technologies. However, these regulatory differences can contribute to a "medical device lag," where disparities in approval processes and market entry timelines driven by strict regulatory requirements, increasing device complexity and the lack of global harmonization, result in delays in accessing innovative technologies. These delays impact patient access to cutting-edge medical devices and competitiveness in the market. This review aims to address the regulatory framework of medical devices and the approval requirements by the European Commission (EC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Pharmaceuticals and Medical Device Agency (PMDA). This paper offers the first approach to the evolution of the structure and the participants in the remittances market of the United States-Mexico corridor. We identify three different layers in the structure and specify the agents that involve clients, remittance providers, and correspondent banks from 1980 to 2020. We show the structural limitations of the market and suggest how the digital economy and financial technology (fintech) could help to reduce the average cost of cross-border payments. The potential benefits from fintech to the remittances market are espe cially relevant for Mexico since it has a high proportion of unbanked population. Furthermore, the reduction to 3% of the remittance fees has been defined as one of the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Purpose: The purpose of this systematic literature review is to examine policy and practice recommendations, along with calls for future research, aimed at addressing food insecurity for community colleges across the U.S. Argument/Proposed Model: This article will provide a detailed methodology for the systematic literature review, as well as the findings gathered from a range of peer-reviewed articles on this topic. The authors analyzed six significant themes that surfaced from the current literature related to policy and practice at the federal, state, local, and institutional levels. Conclusions/Contributions: Six chief themes are discussed in-depth, including but not limited to: important tools and approaches for marketing and communications, data-driven decision-making, and the augmentation of food support with other public benefits and institutional resources. These thematic findings address the issue of food insecurity on community college campuses, and also offer a range of techniques and areas for consideration. This systematic literature review offers a compilation of policy and practice recommendations steeped in actionable strategies for researchers, policymakers, campus leaders, and practitioners alike. This article explores the scope and evolution of the European transatlantic policy with the United States of America (USA). Our research questions are related to the number and content of the texts adopted by the European Parliament (EP) and the role of the EP and its Committees in shaping the European transatlantic policies. We examine which are the committees that lead and guide the EP transatlantic conclusions. Within this context, this research paper highlights the substance of the European Union (EU) and the USA relations over the last 25 years and the major areas in which the EU cooperates with the USA. We have built our research on the European Parliament since it has legislative authority in shaping and guiding EU’s external policy. Therefore, our study brings a new perspective to the current literature on transatlantic relations by assessing the EU-USA relations from the EP conclusions and adopted legal texts. A document and policy analysis are conducted between 1999 and 2024, to assess each of the last five Parliamentary Terms and through the entire current EU laws in force. We conclude that despite studies asserting the weakening of the EU-USA relations, EU’s relations have been consistent since 1999 and even increasing in the last decade, from technical and legal achievement, based on the quantitative and contentive analysis of our research.

The Cluster WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) is one of the cornerstones of humanitarian action, and a key element for the promotion of health worldwide. The recent years demonstrated the pressure on this humanitarian cluster, as a result of climate change. At the same time, it is also clear that WASH actions have a potential to foster health promotion, preparedness, and resilience among communities affected by humanitarian crisis related to climate hazards. This aspect is visible in both the existing literature of the major international organisations and NGOs networks acting in this field. It is also visible in the best practices promoted in two countries looked at in the paper: Bangladesh and the United States. This comparative analysis allows us to extract conclusions that may be replicable in other national or local contexts. It contributes to a better comprehension of the links between the humanitarian indicators and actions, and the imperative of a work with communities in order to improve even more the preparedness of the health impact of climate change.

Background Refugees to the United States frequently have parasitic infections. If untreated, parasites can cause severe complications. The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence, management, and outcomes of eosinophilia as a biomarker for parasites. Methods We conducted a retrospective longitudinal chart review of consecutive refugees attending 3 refugee clinics in Rhode Island that manage the health care of all pediatric and adult refugees. Results Among 812 refugees who met inclusion criteria, 147 (18.1%) had eosinophilia upon arrival and almost half had ≥1 symptom. The rates and severity of eosinophilia in those with predeparture presumptive treatment records who did (112/115, 97.4%) or did not (488/498, 98.0%) receive predeparture antiparasitic treatment were similar. All refugees with eosinophilia had ≥1 parasitic test in the United States. The most common attributable parasites were Schistosoma and Strongyloides stercoralis. Overall, parasites were detected in 63 (42.9%) of 147 refugees with eosinophilia by either stool testing, serology, or blood smear, but testing was inconsistent and likely underestimated true incidence. Only some of the identified parasites typically cause eosinophilia. Forty-five (30.6%) refugees with eosinophilia received antiparasitics in the United States. Of 81 (55.1%) individuals who had repeat blood tests, eosinophilia had resolved in 52 (64.2%). Five individuals (3.4%) had alternative diagnoses, including eczema, myelofibrosis, and drug allergy. Conclusions Our findings support Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations to screen for eosinophilia in newly arrived refugees. Follow-up after 3–6 months is critical to confirm resolution of residual eosinophilia, which frequently occurs after effective predeparture treatment or if eosinophilia persists, to diagnose active parasitic infections. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) live at the intersection of marginalized identities, resulting in unique experiences of exclusion within their various communities. Despite experiences of community exclusion, LGBTQIA+–BIPOC find ways to resist such structures to thrive in the face of adversity and strive for transformative change. The present study uses an intersectional framework to explore LGBTQIA+–BIPOC's experiences with community exclusion and acts of resistance. Fourteen LGBTQIA+–BIPOC participated in semistructured interviews to explore their experiences of exclusion and acts of resistance. Findings supported two broad categories with subthemes: (a) "on the fringes" (i.e., invalidation of LGBTQIA+–BIPOC experiences; White supremacy, colonization, and Western imperialism; "out and proud" dynamics) and (b) resistance: "we're here, and I'm gonna let you know" (i.e., resisting intersectional oppression; intersectional identity cohesion; coalition building). Utilizing an intersectional framework, we critique larger oppressive structures that disenfranchise LGBTQIA+–BIPOC while offering implications for social justice interventions and transformational change to best serve LGBTQIA+–BIPOC. US government quality measures prioritize pharmaceuticalization and care coordination to promote patient treatment adherence. How these measures affect outpatient mental health service delivery and patient-provider communication where psychiatrists and nonphysicians collaborate is understudied. Analyzing 500 hours of participant-observation, 117 appointments, and 98 interviews with 45 new patients and providers, I show that psychiatrists and social workers coordinated care by encouraging medications and seeing two mental health providers as the default treatment, irrespective of patient preferences. Coordinated policies and effective global environmental governance are needed to address the global biodiversity crisis. Human dimensions like geopolitics influence conservation decision‐making and outcomes. The importance of considering these complex social factors is heightened in an era of renewed great‐power politics, as the intensifying US–China rivalry has direct implications for environmental governance and biodiversity outcomes. Can the US–China rivalry and its confrontational dynamics be channeled into conservation policymaking to improve biodiversity outcomes? Drawing from international relations and policy studies, policy diffusion theory can provide conservationists with useful insights into the interdependency of policy decisions. Here, we examine the four mechanisms—competition, coercion, learning, and emulation—of the classic model of policy diffusion theory in the context of environmental policymaking. We explore a case study for each mechanism to illustrate how it can benefit biodiversity conservation, and point to examples of relevant policies and actions that could improve outcomes. To operationalize this concept for conservation, we present a decision tree that conservationists can use to determine the most relevant policy diffusion mechanism in different policy contexts. Upon determining the appropriate mechanism, conservationists can take further steps to intentionally trigger the mechanism and catalyze conservation policy diffusion across jurisdictions. Why was the "Chinese Question" of immigration control and exclusion in the United States imagined as an appealing precedent for dealing with the "Jewish Question" of emancipation and citizenship in fin-de-siècle Romania, Hungary, and Austria? The present article examines a vast corpus of parliamentary debates, press, and pamphlets, in order to demonstrate how thinking in terms of "questions" enabled historical actors to place themselves within a "global moment" by highlighting structural similarities that would justify the analogy. By rhetorically turning to an America that was placed at the forefront of "liberal" progress, yet now began to explicitly place limits to its inclusiveness, politicians in Central and Eastern Europe sought to present their own exclusionary policies as timely and acceptable, rather than anachronistic affronts to the spirit of the age. Drawing upon this global precedent was therefore hoped to ward off criticism: if "civilized" America could draw the line, be it as a matter of principle or pragmatism, then antisemitism could be justified with reference to Sinophobia. In contemporary international relations, the interaction between conventional and nuclear powers creates a complex dynamic that significantly influences states' threat perceptions and behaviors. The discovery in mid-2021 that China had constructed three new missile silo fields raised questions about whether a shift had occurred in China's traditional minimum nuclear deterrence strategy. This study posits that China is deviating from its long-standing nuclear strategy. Adverse changes in the conventional balance between the United States and China have incentivized China to enhance its nuclear capabilities and improve its nuclear force's deterrence capability by developing its conventional capabilities. A state that perceives its nuclear deterrence to be able to be weakened by the conventional capabilities of its adversary tends to respond by strengthening its nuclear deterrence. Similarly, such a state can enhance its conventional capabilities to increase the survivability of its nuclear forces. Chinese experts view the United States' conventional precision strike capabilities as a significant threat to China's assured retaliation capability. Furthermore, these experts believe that China's nuclear arsenal faces a more diverse range of conventional threats compared to the past. This study aims to analyze the reasons behind China's expansion of its nuclear missile silos. The study also examines the role of nuclear weapons in China's military doctrine as well as recent modernization efforts within the Chinese military. INTRODUCTION: In the United States, 10.2% households (HH) report child food insecurity. We assessed associations between metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MASLD) and food insecurity among the adolescents in the United States. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was performed using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2017-2018. Food insecurity was assessed by the US Department of Agriculture Child Food Security Survey Module. MASLD was defined by transient elastography. RESULTS: Among 771 adolescents (aged 12-18 years) (mean age 14.7 years; 52.5% male; 50.9% White, 12.7% Black, 24.4% Hispanic, and 12.1% other), 9.8% reported food insecurity; MASLD prevalence of 10.12% (95% confidence interval [CI] 7.13%-13.20%) affecting 4.27 million adolescents; and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease prevalence of 10.77% (95% CI 7.76-13.78) affecting 4.52 million adolescents. There was near-perfect concordance between MASLD and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (Cohen's k coefficient of 0.971, 95% CI 0.946-0.996). The prevalence of MASLD was greater among food-insecure adolescents vs food-secure ones (17.4% vs 9.4%) and adolescents living with a low HH income vs those with a higher HH income (15.0% vs 7.2%) and living with a head of HH with a lower education level vs one with a higher education level (18.0% vs 8.2%) (P < 0.05). The fully adjusted model showed that compared with adolescents living in a higherHHincome, food-insecure adolescents living in low income HH had a 3-fold greater risk (odds ratio [OR] 3.25, 1.31-8.08) of having MASLD, while food-secure adolescents living in low-income HH had no increased risk (OR 1.58, 0.85-2.93, = 50.139). The fully adjusted odds of having MASLD was elevated by1163% with the presence of HTN (OR 2.63, 1.02-6.78), 1241% with being Hispanic (OR 3.41, 1.36-8.56), and 1138% with being male (OR 2.38, 1.20-4.75). In addition, a 1-unit increase inBMI was associated with 25% increase in the odds of having MASLD (OR 1.25, 1.17-1.33) among US adolescents. DISCUSSION: Food insecurity is associated with MASLD among US low-income adolescents especially Hispanic male individuals with obesity and hypertension. Policies addressing inequities are needed. The focus of this research is to understand the sports gambling intentions of Gen Z (those born between 1997 and 2012) that can potentially lead to problematic gambling behavior. Rooted in the theory of planned behavior, the study delves into the roles of attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavior control in shaping these intentions. A cross-sectional study of 513 Gen Z's in the United States was conducted. The partial least square structural equation modeling was used to analyze the relationship and compare the differences between males and females with multigroup analysis. The results indicate that attitude and perceived behavior control have a significant impact on this intention, while subjective norms do not exert substantial influence. Notably, gender differences are observed, with males showing a stronger association with perceived behavior control and females with attitude. The model effectively accounts for significant variations in sports gambling intention, highlighting a higher inclination among females as compared to males. This study provides a new perspective for analyzing disparities in sports gambling intention between genders and delves into the underlying motivations that can potentially contribute to the development of problematic gambling disorders. Given the significant societal impact and the adverse effects that gambling disorders have on those affected, it is imperative to conduct research aimed at understanding the reasons behind Gen Z's engagement in gambling. This study investigates the impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) and stock market development (SMD) on natural resources in the United States during the period between 1985 and 2021 by keeping the GDP and innovation as control variables. For empirical analysis, the autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL) and Kernel Regularized Least Squares (KRLS) regression techniques were used to investigate the long‐ and short‐run relationships. To check the robustness of results, this study uses a machine learning approach, i.e., Canonical Cointegrating Regression (CCR). The results of the ARDL bounds test approach suggest the presence of long‐run relationships among the study variables, and these results were confirmed through KRLS and CCR. The long‐run results indicate that economic policy uncertainty and SMD increase natural resource rent. Moreover, GDP and innovation also increase natural resource rent. However, a weak relationship exists between innovation and natural resource rent in the short run. Policymakers need to provide stable and encouraging economic policies to promote sustainable resource management, while stock markets need to facilitate long‐term planning and responsible investment in natural resource industries. Starting with the regulations and specific practices of pesticide re-evaluation, this paper provided a detailed overview of the types, target scope, participating departments, initiation conditions, implementation steps, and data requirements of pesticide re-evaluation projects in the European Union and the United States of America. The relationship between pesticide re-evaluation and new registration, as well as the protection of re-evaluation information, were discussed, which could provide a reference for establishing suitable re-evaluation procedures and improving the scientific and operational management of existing registered pesticides in China. Malignant cardiac neoplasms (MCNs), both primary and metastatic, are rare with few epidemiologic studies. This retrospective study used the Healthcare Utilization Project/Nationwide Inpatient Sample database from 2002 to 2018 to evaluate the co-occurrences with other malignancies, and mortality of MCNs in the USA. The data contained 7207 weighted discharges of MCN. Median patient age was 51.4 years, 52.29 % were male, in-hospital mortality was 10.51 %, mean cost of hospitalization was $34,280 USD. Lung, mediastinum, and airways were the most common primary cancers associated with metastatic MCN. MCN are rare in the USA, however they carry a high in-hospital mortality, high morbidity, and hospital cost. "Terrorism" has posed a major challenge to the world today. in such a way that fighting it for the current generation and the international system; It has become a "natural" thing that should always be dealt with at any level and direction, this thinking has of course been popularized by the intellectual and political circles of "America" and has been instilled as an undeniable "truth" to everyone. U.S.A has taken advantage of all its theoretical and practical possibilities, including discoursive, conceptual, economic, media, military... mechanisms.to convince the world that it has the upper hand in the fight against terrorism and that it is even possible to fight the basic principles of international law in the fight against this phenomenon. Therefore, by resorting to the facilities available to him, he has been able to form domination and subjugation and, in Foucault's terms, a disciplinary society. The current research seeks to analyze this domination and control with regard to the historicity of the events with Foucault's genealogical method. According to the stages of Foucault's genealogy, the present article comes to the conclusion that the "fight against terrorism" as claimed by the United States, was not so benevolent and did not aim at peace, but it is still possible to trace the interests of the United States and its hegemony in this policy. Discontinuities and analysis of the origin and strength of the American foreign policy in the study of the fight against terrorism show that the United States has created the terrorist as "otherness" to build its new nature. On the occasion of the Exposition universelle of 1867 the term Americanization first appeared in France. Jules and Edmond Goncourt feared that the exhibition would lead to “the Americanization of France”. My article explores the opposition between the rather unspectacular US-section at the exhibition on the one hand, and the image of an emerging world power on the other. I argue that the notion of Americanization had a threefold function. Firstly, it did not refer to a specific geographic zone, but served as a master discourse absorbing all the phenomena of unfolding French modernity. Secondly, the concept of Americanization transferred the fears, apprehensions and uncertainties of this French modernity outside of France and turned the USA into a culprit for the apparent rationalization of French culture. Third, in claiming Americanization was the key to economic success, the process of industrialization was accelerated and French ambition for leadership over the world reaffirmed.

NATO, İkinci Dünya Savaşı sonrasında ekonomik ve siyasi bakımdan çökmüş hâlde olan Avrupa’da, ABD-SSCB mücadelesinin sürdüğü bir zamanda ülkelerin güvenliklerinin sağlamasına yönelik olarak Soğuk Savaş Dönemi’nde ortaya çıkmıştır. 1947-1952 yılları arası dönemde güvenlik endişesi ve iktisadi yardım konuları Türkiye’nin dış politikasına derin etkiler yapmış, Truman Doktrini ve Marshall Yardımları Türkiye’nin NATO üyeliğine giden süreci hızlandırmıştır. CHP ve DP Hükümetleri döneminde, güvenlik dış politikada en önemli konu olmuştur. NATO üyeliği için CHP iktidarında harekete geçilmiş, DP iktidarında Kore Savaşı’nın yol açtığı ağır bedel ile gerçekleşmiştir. Türkiye’nin Jeostratejik konumunun yanı sıra NATO’ya dâhil olması uluslararası camiadaki önemini artırmıştır.

Introduction: Understanding the complex link between our gut health and general well-being has drawn more attention in recent years. Prebiotics can promote mineral absorption, influence metabolism, improve immune system regulation, and fight infections. Aim: This article focuses into the evolving paradigms in prebiotics research, highlighting their regulation, diverse applications, impact on diseases, and their growth on the global market. Discussion: Prebiotics are Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS), novel foods and food additives by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), EU and Japan, respectively. The multifaceted applications of prebiotics go across various sectors, ranging from functional foods and dietary supplements to cosmetics. A comprehensive review of prebiotics' effects on human health and illness prevention is a significant strength of the paper. Prebiotics support a healthy microbiome by feeding helpful gut flora, which may reduce the risk of a variety of illnesses and improve general health. In parallel, it covers an overview of the prebiotics industry in the world, considering aspects including consumer knowledge of gut health and growing prebiotic demand. Conclusion: Prebiotics are anticipated to have a significant role in determining the direction of nutrition and preventive healthcare as research advances and consumer demand for natural health solutions rises. Background: Indigenous adolescents access primary health care services at lower rates, despite their greater health needs and experience of disadvantage. This systematic review identifies the enablers and barriers to primary health care access for Indigenous adolescents to inform service and policy improvements. Methods: We systematically searched databases for publications reporting enablers or barriers to primary health care access for Indigenous adolescents from the perspective of adolescents, their parents and health care providers, and included studies focused on Indigenous adolescents aged 10–24 years from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and United States of America. Results were analyzed against the WHO Global standards for quality health-care services for adolescents. An additional ninth standard was added which focused on cultural safety. Results: A total of 41 studies were included. More barriers were identified than enablers, and against the WHO Global standards most enablers and barriers related to supply factors – providers' competencies, appropriate package of services, and cultural safety. Providers who built trust, respect, and relationships; appropriate package of service; and culturally safe environments and care were enablers to care reported by adolescents, and health care providers and parents. Embarrassment, shame, or fear; a lack of culturally appropriate services; and privacy and confidentiality were common barriers identified by both adolescent and health care providers and parents. Cultural safety was identified as a key issue among Indigenous adolescents. Enablers and barriers related to cultural safety included culturally appropriate services, culturally safe environment and care, traditional and cultural practices, cultural protocols, Indigenous health care providers, cultural training for health care providers, and colonization, intergenerational trauma, and racism. Nine recommendations were identified which aim to address the enablers and barriers associated with primary health care access for Indigenous adolescents. Conclusion: This review provides important evidence to inform how services, organizations and governments can create accessible primary health care services that specifically meet the needs of Indigenous adolescents. This article seeks to understand how the conception of North Korea as a rogue state influenced the relations of Washington and Brussels with this eastern Asian country between 9/11 terrorist attacks (2001) and the outbreak of the pandemic crisis (2020). This is done by drawing on the analytical framework offered by Miskimmon, O'Loughlin, and Roselle that allows one to compare the US and EU strategic narratives vis-à-vis North Korea. Besides adding a novel comparative perspective to the available studies focused on rogue states, this work concludes that although the US and the EU utilised sanctions to coerce North Korea, they exhibited different conceptions of rogueness. While the US' system narrative characterised North Korea as a rogue, the EU's characterisation focused on its violations of international law. Yet, the two actors' identity and issue narratives highlighted their role and responsibility to bring the country back to the path of denuclearisation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Following the Islamic revolution, Iran has consistently faced threats from neighboring countries and major global powers. In response to Iran's revolutionary stance and its challenging position in the international arena, the United States has imposed significant arms and military sanctions aimed at curbing Iran's influence in the region. However, drawing from historical lessons, Iran has adopted a deterrence strategy to counter external pressures. To compensate for its relative conventional military weaknesses and maintain deterrence against adversaries, Iran has prioritized the development and production of missile capabilities. This study delves into the development of Iran's missile capabilities and their correlation with U.S. arms embargoes. It seeks to answer whether these sanctions have effectively contained Iran's regional influence. Employing a Trend Impact analysis methodology that utilizes library resources, we will explore the trajectory of Iran's missile industry development under sanctions. Furthermore, we assess the efficacy of these sanctions on Iran's defense capabilities and military structure. The research findings indicate that U.S. military sanctions have failed to achieve their intended objectives and safeguard the interests of the U.S. and its regional allies. Contrary to assertions, the sanctions have strengthened Iran's missile capabilities and regional influence, solidifying the country's position as a regional power in the international system. Background Job-exposure matrices (JEMs) are often used for exposure assessment in occupational exposure and epidemiology studies. However, general population JEMs are difficult to find and access for workers in the United States of America. Objective We aimed to use publicly available information to develop a JEM-like exposure assessment method to determine exposure to a wide range of occupational agents in a wide range of occupations for US general population studies. Methods We used information from the US Department of Labor's Occupational Information Network database (O*NET) for 19,636 job tasks and 974 civilian occupations. We used automated keyword searches to identify 1,804 job tasks that involved exposure to 50 occupational agents. We had 2 reviewers determine whether each identified job task actually involved exposure to the 50 occupational agents. We had a third reviewer, a certified industrial hygienist, assess any job task and exposure for which the first 2 reviewers disagreed. For each U.S. Census 2010 occupation code, we used this information to derive 3 exposure variables for each occupational agent: ever exposure, number of job tasks of exposure, and frequency of exposure. Results Our keyword searches identified a median of 10 (interquartile range [IQR]: 43.75) job tasks for each occupational agent, and the maximum was 308. We determined job tasks actually involved exposure to 45 occupational agents, including solvents, air pollution, pesticides, radiation, metals, etc. We derived the 3 exposure variables for these 45 occupational agents for 516 U.S. Census 2010 occupation codes. The median percentage for ever exposure to individual occupational agents was 1.16% (IQR: 1.74%), and the maximum was 11.43%. Conclusions Our JEM-like exposure assessment method based on O*NET information can be used to determine exposure to a wide range of occupational agents in a wide range of occupations for the US general population. This study aims to investigate how modern technology can be used to produce competitive television content in comparison to digital media. The study employs a qualitative research approach and utilizes convenience sampling. The sample consists of (30) experts from various fields, including university teaching, television programs, technology, editing, digital media, and cinematography, working in Palestinian and American universities. Consideration is given to years of experience, age, workplace, and gender. The study was conducted during the second semester of 2023. To achieve its objectives, the researcher employed the structured interviews. The interview guide consisted of three main questions and several sub-questions focused on the use of modern technology in producing competitive television content compared to digital media. The study achieved several significant results, among which the following are the most important: The majority of Palestinian and American respondents believe that the use of modern technology aids in the production of competitive television content compared to digital media, while recognizing the vast technological gap between the two experiences. Furthermore, the study's results indicated a strong consensus among American and Palestinian respondents that augmented reality is one of the most commonly used virtual reality technologies for presenting news content on television. Among other results, Palestinian and American experts unanimously agreed on the impact that the use of modern technology can have on the content of television news broadcasts. However, they differed in their assessment of the nature of this impact. American experts generally believed that the results of this impact were positive, while Palestinian experts saw the potential for negative effects. They believed that the use of modern technology could carry connotations that affect the meaning, attention, perception, and emotions of the viewers. The study recommends the necessity of taking advantage of the significant technological advancements in the United States by sending delegations of Palestinian experts to the United States to learn and train on how to use modern technology to produce competitive television content compared to digital media. How can political elites strengthen citizen commitment to democratic norms when democracy is under imminent assault? We report results from a pre-registered survey experiment on the persuasive effects of actual speeches given by prominent Republican politicians (Schwarzenegger, McConnell) shortly after the January 2020 insurrection at the U.S. capitol. Although both speeches were widely considered effective at the time, in a survey experiment among Republican voters, we find no impact of one-time exposure to these speeches on the endorsement of democracy, the acceptance of election losses, the rejection of political violence, or the relevance of democratic norms in hypothetical vote choices. Despite a century of professional development in youth ministry, the American church continues to face generational attrition. This article explores this paradox, employing practical theology to scrutinise the historical praxis and philosophies shaping 20th-century youth ministry. I have taken Nel’s work on inclusive missional ecclesiology as my basic point of departure, analysing four interconnected ‘texts’: Ecclesiological perspective, a historical review of youth ministry evolution, adolescents’ developmental locus within congregations, and a qualitative study featuring interviews with members from seven American churches involved in youth ministry. The investigation highlights the necessity for a paradigm shift in youth ministry from an exclusive programme to a more inclusive missional approach. It urges recognising adolescents as equals in congregational life, fostering an environment that not only retains but also nurtures them as indispensable community members. By adhering to this reformed vision, the church can address the persistent crisis of generational attrition effectively, encouraging the collaborative growth of the American church with the active participation of its adolescent members. It suggests a path forward that sees youth not as future church, but active contributors to the contemporary church ecosystem. Intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary implications: This research guides churches in considering the theological, sociological, and developmental implications of adolescent inclusion through the lens of missional ecclesiology, suggesting adolescent inclusion is critical to contextual missional praxis.

It is known to the scientific, professional and lay public that the United States of America, after the terrorist act of September 11, 2001, which was carried out on its territory, designated Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda as the culprit. The subject of research in this paper is the financing of terrorism from the territory of the United States of America. The aim of the work is to provide reasoned, objective and systematized findings on the support of terrorist financing on the territory of the USA, through the activities of charitable organizations that collected money on its territory. Almost all basic analytical and synthetic methods of knowledge were applied in the preparation of the work, with an emphasis on analysis, synthesis, generalization and the inductive-deductive method. From the corpus of general scientific methods, the general scientific statistical and hypothetical-deductive method was applied in the research of the topic, and from the group of methods for data collection, the method of content analysis of available documents was used, that is, its technique of qualitative analysis of documents. Two results emerged from the research. One, which indicates that in the decades before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Islamic charities in the United States developed donor networks, perfected techniques and covertly aided and financed terrorist groups and individuals, often with the tacit approval of American security organizations. Second, that just a few days after the terrorist attacks carried out on September 11, 2001, the President of the United States of America, with Executive Order 13224, designated a number of Islamic charitable organizations in the United States that covertly worked, supported and financed terrorism with funds collected from American citizens and organization.

The aim of this article is to examine applicability of classical geopolitics to interpret the context of the war in Ukraine. The author argues that the classical geopolitical approach has shortages in explaining the current warfare in Ukraine, because territory, space, and geography are not sufficient to explain complex international relations in today's globalized world. The interventionistic policy of the US, the main force of Atlanticism, undoubtfully has the key role in shaping the situation in Ukraine, but a wider picture indicates presence and influence of corporate and financial non-state actors that benefit from strengthening military-industrial complex. The author concludes that critical geopolitics offers deeper inquiry into the geopolitical claims than the classical geopolitical thought because the former recognizes that nowadays states are not only geopolitical agents. There are indications that the war in Ukraine is waged by Western political, economic, military, and financial elites against Russia as a part of the strategy to maintain global power and prevent rising multipolarity.

The expanding information and communication technology landscape has led to complex security challenges, marked by dynamic and evolving cyber threats including hacking, malware, phishing, data theft, fraud, and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). Notably, the United States has faced the highest incidence of cybercrime cases from 2017 to 2021, affecting 2.9 billion victims and resulting in a cumulative material loss of US$18.7 billion during this period. This research centers on the United States, acknowledged as the primary target for global cybercriminals, comprising 38% of cybercrime targets. This research aims to find out the strategic efforts of the United States in overcoming cybercrime that befell its country so that it becomes the best country in cases of alleviating and controlling cases of cyberattacks even though it is also the country with the highest cases of cyberattacks in the world. Utilizing a qualitative research method, the study demonstrates that the United States collaborates systematically and synergistically with state governments, employing a centralized approach to delegate specific tasks and authorities. The study concludes that the United States has implemented the National Cybersecurity Strategy (NCS) 2023 program, aiming to establish a strategic environment and ecosystem by maintaining vital infrastructure and centralized integration.
