LIKERT scale , *HISTORY of education , *SAMPLE size (Statistics) , *EXPERIMENTAL groups , *TEACHING methods - Abstract
Students often have a negative perception of history due to the traditional methodology employed in most classrooms. The objective of this quasi-experimental research was to establish whether elementary students’ perceptions of history improved after a gamified project was introduced into the classroom, compared to a control group that followed a traditional methodology. Students completed a questionnaire on a Likert scale before and after the classroom intervention. The results showed significant differences between the groups (posttest) and within the experimental group (pretest-posttest). This initial exploration of this issue hopes to arouse interest for new research able to overcome the limitations of this study, such as the sample size. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MASTER'S degree , *EDUCATION research , *BACHELOR'S degree , *MATHEMATICS students , *SECONDARY education , *ONLINE education , *ASSIMILATION (Sociology) - Abstract
Teacher training and innovation in the academic field are basic processes for improving the quality of education. This paper presents an innovative didactic experience for students of the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training in Secondary Education and bachelor’s degree, of an online university, in the specialty of mathematics. The educational innovation arises after the detection of difficulties in the assimilation of the contents taught in the subject of Teaching Innovation and Initiation to Educational Research by the participating students. The experience consists of a real simultaneous interaction (online) between the students of the Master’s Degree in Mathematics and the students of bachelor’s degree of a public center of Secondary Education, in Spain, while they receive classes in their center in a face-to-face way. The didactic methodology used in this experience is based on the principles of the Flipped Classroom and, at all times, the material necessary for its understanding and assimilation has been shared with the Master’s students. To analyze this experience, a questionnaire was used to collect information before and after the experience, a satisfaction survey and a focus group. The results indicate that the students of the online Master’s program consider this experience very necessary, since it favors the perception of the environment to which they must adapt and, in addition, the visualization of real cases provides a significant vision that completes and complements the theoretical training received. FOREIGN language education ,LANGUAGE acquisition ,LEARNING ,EMOTIONS ,SECOND language acquisition - Abstract
The latest findings in Neurodidactics in understanding learning processes are forcing a review of the methodological approaches underlying teaching practices, including those used in second language teaching. Therefore, drawing on the principles of Neuroscience, Didactics and Linguistics, a review of the central factors of language learning and acquisition is carried out. A new methodological approach to foreign language teaching based on emotions is proposed: the Emotional Approach. Next, the principles of the Emotional Approach are presented, and its most relevant theoretical and practical contributions are highlighted. These include the functioning of neural connections in second language learning and the critical role played by emotions in the teaching-learning processes. Finally, this study provides the theoretical bases necessary to elaborate future didactic proposals and experimental research on the postulates presented here. Implications for research and practice are also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article "Digital Narratives in Academic Forums. A Strategy for Collaborative Learning in Distance Higher Education" analyzes the use of digital narratives in academic forums as a strategy for collaborative learning in distance higher education. The study shows that students were able to create reflective and analytical narratives based on the evolution of their peers' ideas in the academic forum, and they positively valued this experience. It is highlighted that the digital narratives generated in the asynchronous forum are new scenarios to motivate collaborative interaction among educational authors in distance studies. Additionally, differences were found in the perception of narratives between men and women, indicating that asynchronous forums can help eliminate gender educational gaps. MOOCs, and open education in general, are providing new learning opportunities for millions of people. MOOCs and digital continuous education are a flexible and scalable solution for to the needs of the current society. Many MOOC platforms offer various short degree programmes (like nanodegrees, micromasters, etc.) and even full online programmes in response to these needs. MOOC platforms have ushered in a new era of collaboration between universities around the world and opened new directions for academia to connect with students and practitioners. Introducing in the didactic activity of several sequences of online learning (existing in courses included in MOOCs), online laboratories (MOOLs) have created a new academic "format" and brought about a radical rethink of many aspects of traditional class delivery. In our paper, we will show the challenges of implementing of these activities in educational and training institutions. These challenges lie in their management, availability, flexibility and scaling. At the same time, the paper aims to help decision makers in higher education institutions gain a better understanding of the phenomenon of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) and trends towards greater openness in higher education and to think about the implications for their institutions. The paper is written from a Romanian higher education perspective, however, but it also took into account by the developments in MOOCs from round the world. A literature review was undertaken focussing on the extensive reporting of MOOCs through scholarly blogs, press releases as well as openly available reports and research papers. Also, interviews and group sessions were conducted to ascertain the influence of MOOCs in educational tasks, and of these professionals opinions about the role of MOOCs in their institutions. The results to suggest that participants have positive attitudes towards incorporating MOOCs at the university, although it is specified that transition is difficult, but entirely possible. READING comprehension , *TEACHER evaluation , *ELEMENTARY education , *TEACHING methods , *SELF-efficacy in teachers , *TEACHER-student relationships , *INTERPERSONAL communication - Abstract
Reading is an essential process for learning; therefore, elementary education implements multiple programs and strategies to improve it. Teaching Circles are suggested as a structured dialogue between teachers to propose and put into practice strategies to improve reading comprehension. The sample included 11 teachers and 59 students. We measured teachers' teaching approach and self-efficacy and students' reading comprehension, taking intelligence as a control variable. The results describe an improvement in teachers' self-efficacy, interaction components, and the student-centered approach, specifically the Global Comprehension sub-process. We conclude that the strategy can be effective in shifting the teacher-centered perspective; however, teachers' continuity and commitment and appropriate social context conditions are required for its application. Since Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) became a global phenomenon in 2012, there has been constant evolution in the way Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) make sense of them. HEIs embracing MOOCs have dedicated a variety of human resource to this venture. Only in a minority of cases, staff have been appointed exclusively to this role. In all other cases, MOOC related tasks have been allocated to professionals who were already performing other educational tasks. This article contains a study that captures the experiences of these professionals in a Spanish university and a British university, as relates to their involvement in MOOCs. Interviews and group sessions were conducted to ascertain the influence of MOOCs in their practice, and in their opinions about the role of MOOCs in their institutions. The results seem to suggest that participants have positive attitudes towards incorporating MOOCs at the university, although they demand a serious bet for this educational approach from the strategic decision makers in the institutions.

New advances in the field of education have led to the appearance of new methodological resources that make it possible to carry out teaching and learning processes in line with the educational demands of the information and knowledge society. One of the most successful approaches in the field of education is flipped learning. In order to implement this, it is vital that teachers be digitally competent, especially with certain skills in the area relating to the creation of digital resources, so that they can integrate a techno-pedagogical element in their teaching activities. The aim of this study is to ascertain the influence of teachers' competence levels in area 3 of digital competence (creation of digital content) on the use of the innovative flipped learning methodology. To this end, a research design based on a descriptive and correlational quantitative method was used. An ad hoc questionnaire was used as a data collection instrument and was applied to a sample of 483 Spanish teachers. The results show that teachers make sporadic use of flipped learning. The results also show that teachers have an intermediate competence level in digital content creation, with the teachers who use flipped learning the most having better skills in programming, development, integration and re-elaboration of digital content, and knowledge of copyright and digital licenses. Therefore, we conclude that the level of digital competence in area 3 does have an influence on the use of this innovative teaching and learning methodology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Flipped Classroom (FC) methodology allows a reorganization of times in the classroom and outside of it. For asynchronous work, when the content of the subject is more reflective, cultural snapshots, a combination of cinema, music and literature, can be used as a didactic resource. The objective of this research was to know the perceptions of future teachers about FC using cultural snapshots. A quantitative longitudinal panel design (pre-test and post-test) with a descriptive and inferential approach was used. The sample consisted of 111 prospective teachers from the University of Malaga (course 2021/2022). A validated instrument was applied to measure perceptions about FC methodology. The results reflect positive perceptions of the FC methodology, significantly improving valuations when using cultural snapshots. There were no significant differences when comparing by gender, although men had a better perception after using the cultural snapshots. In conclusion, the use of cultural snapshots as a didactic resource can be an positive alternative to work on more complex contents if we use the FC methodology.

Innovative evaluation strategies are necessary in distance education systems, specially in higher levels, in which students are more critical and demanding. The objective of this study was to determine how an innovative evaluative strategy influenced students' motivation and performance in a pilot course (Distance State University, Costa Rica). For this I applied a survey to the 14 students -aged 22 to 45 years- who took the course from 2014 to 2016. Students were highly satisfied with this innovative strategy, since it challenged them into being better professionals, which coincide with similar studies. In 2 practices, out of 4, performance was higher in 2016 than in 2014 and 2015, years where the innovation was not implemented. To improve performance and motivation, I recommend using this strategy in other courses that have practice in pilot plants, and to create a culture in which students receive a more formative evaluation.

Being a good literary translator inevitably involves the development of a triple competence: linguistic, cultural and creative. The teaching process in the field of this kind of translation must therefore encourage different strategies that contemplate a greater diversity of methods and techniques. Within the framework of active methodologies, the use of collective translation in the classroom has stood out for some years now. As a result, the debate on the limits of translatability and untranslatability is permanent. In this sense, the teaching innovation project “TradLit”, developed in the Department of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Alicante proposes the exercise of collective translation in the classroom through different literary texts, such as poetry, theatre or comics. This project, through which we have already published three translated literary works, aims to show students the limits of translatability, the difficulties involved in translating culture, the advantages of collective translation and the different translation techniques in case of interlinguistic inequivalence.

This work on the implementation of an educational experience presents an innovation project on formative evaluation in Higher Education applied throughout eight academic years. It is a collaborative work project with which the subject Innovations in Educational Projects of Early Childhood Education is taught (4th year of the Degree in Early Childhood Education Teacher of the Faculty of Education of the University of Alicante). The fundamental objectives of this innovation are, on the one hand, to introduce students to the practice of formative assessment with all its methodological possibilities, and on the other, its application in a specific subject. The participation of the students in the whole evaluation process, in the first place by training in the knowledge and understanding of the concept, and later in the practical application of their own experience, manages to increase their motivation for the subject, since they not only learn to evaluate, but also they also become participating agents of their evaluation in the implementation of the subject. We evaluate the results of the implementation of the project during the eight years of existence, and we find evidence on the benefits obtained with the application of this innovation, fundamentally in terms of the increase in student and teacher motivation for work, in positive academic results, and in improving educational quality.

The general objective of this research is to determine if the use of escape rooms improves the learning performance of postgraduate students of the International Economic Environment subject of the Master's Degree in Foreign Trade Management and Internationalization of Companies at the International University of La Rioja. For it, this research poses two questions: a) does the use of escape rooms impact the learning performance of students?; and b) do students perceive that escape rooms improve their skills? The experimental methodology was applied to this work. The data to carry out the analysis were obtained from a questionnaire designed to collect the students' perceptions about the impact of the experience and a knowledge control test to evaluate the impact of the escape room on academic performance. The results obtained show that the use of the escape room has a positive impact on the perceptions and learning results of the students.

- Abstract

- Abstract
The objective of this article is to analyze, from a cultural and sociotechnical perspective, the necessary pedagogical strategies in the framework of the information and communication society as a result of the pandemic generated by Covid-19. We start from the idea that education in Mexico has suffered a deterioration in quality and access for students in general, but specifically at the postgraduate level, by virtue of the teaching practice that traditionally has been face-to-face, suddenly, emigrated to educational virtualization. Situation we consider has an impact on the process of knowledge transmission. Therefore, it is necessary to implement pedagogical strategies that reinforce learning from teachers and influence the professional development of those who are being trained in these years of pandemic.
