Multilingualism is a subfield of sociolinguistics. Individuals who use two or more languages are multilingual. Today, it is possible to encounter multilingual individuals in every country. Multilingualism is a topic that is currently being researched by sociolinguistics researchers. In the 11th century, there were multilingual individuals. Dîvânu Lûgati't-Türk is an important dictionary that brings multilingual individuals and societies to the present day. Kâshgarlı Mahmud, in the light of the information he compiled from the Turkish tribes, states that multilingual individuals lived in his work. In the 11th century, Turkic tribes who knew and used more than one language are the subject of our study. In our study, multilingual tribes and clans were investigated by examining Dîvânu Lûgati't-Türk prepared by Ahmet B. Ercilasun and Ziyat Akkoyunlu. Tribes and clans were examined by taking into account the geography they lived in, their economic activities, religions and the neighbors they might be affected by.. Our research was conducted using the document review technique, one of the qualitative research methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MULTILINGUALISM , *SOCIOLINGUISTICS , *SOCIAL constructionism , *MONOLINGUALISM - Abstract
The present study contributes to recent renewed interest in the social construction of folk linguistic knowledge and directs its focus to a multilingual workplace. The article reports on an in-depth sociolinguistic investigation in a European institution in Luxembourg. Data were collected in 2020–2021 with trainees and permanent staff in a terminology and communication unit. The data collection triangulated qualitative techniques of longitudinal interviewing, reflective drawing, writing reflection and observation. Analysis of participants' stances uncovered a varying understanding of what multilingualism means in the workplace, how it changes and to what effect. During reflective participation, the trainees heightened their sociopragmatic awareness of diversity in the meaning-making process. Moreover, they ceased to construct their personal multilingualism as proof of professional competence and started to see it as the basis of their own well-being, personal self-realisation and growth. As such, they re-coupled the social and linguistic aspect of their language use and aligned their stances with the permanent staff. This study aims to inspire more innovative approaches with a potential direct effect in multilingual workplaces, especially in those welcoming workers from monolingual or otherwise homogeneous social environments. This qualitative study explores the resilience of Cipaku's displaced communities through narrative communication, shedding light on the unique sociolinguistic dynamics of development-induced displacement. Anchored in the Communication Theory of Resilience (CTR), it delves into how displaced individuals employ communicative processes. The study focused on interviews with 12 individuals selected using snowball sampling technique from Cipaku Village who have lived through displacement more than 10 years due to forced migration, and supported with field observation to gain documentation in capturing their memories and subsequent positive adaptations. Data was analyzed using the NVivo 12 Plus software, which facilitated the organization, coding, and thematic analysis relevant to the study's objectives. The findings of this research delves into how displaced individuals employ communicative processes; crafting normalcy, affirming identity, maintaining networks, employing alternative logics, and foregrounding positive actions to navigate the upheavals of displacement. It highlights how displaced populations actively reconstruct their social realities, preserve cultural identities, and sustain community cohesion through narrative communication. This study also points to gaps in understanding the erosion of linguistic diversity within displaced communities and recommends further exploration of digital communication's role in sustaining displaced communities' communicative networks.

Sociolinguistic factors such as status and prestige can significantly impact the persistence of an accent in a patient with Foreign Accent Syndrome (FAS). FAS is a rare acquired syndrome that affects a speaker's accent typically caused by a stroke or trauma. In this presented FAS case study, we explore two distinct perspectives on a shift from a Sicilian to a North-East variety of Italian accent, caused by an accident trauma. Data have been collected with an ethnographic approach to explore the patient's narrative towards his 'foreign accent'. Firstly, the study analyzes the perception of native listeners through a speech sample perception test of different varieties of Italian. The listeners' responses revealed a diversified classification of the accent, highlighting the listener's crucial role in assigning the status of 'foreignness' to a particular variety. Additionally, an analysis with Praat software showed that the FAS speaker used a variety with some Sicilian and North-East traits. Secondly, the study investigated the patient's perception of their new accent through an ethnographic approach and participant observer technique. The results revealed a typology of FAS speakers that correlated with sociolinguistic factors not previously identified by research. In conclusion, this study sheds light on the complex interplay between sociolinguistic factors and FAS, demonstrating the importance of exploring FAS under various perspectives of research. The pronunciation of consonant segments in syllabic onset, such as the neutralisation of /θs/ or the preservation of /x/ in Granada, has made it possible to verify the linguistic convergence of this variety towards common Spanish. However, since the 1990s, there has not been any new research to verify the situation of the pronunciation of /tʃ/, which traditionally, in Granada, was pronounced as a fricative [ʃ]. In this research, based on the analysis of the PASOS-GR corpus, collected between 2007 and 2009, we have analysed how /tʃ/ changes according to linguistic and extra- linguistic variables. Results have been compared with previous work (Moya Corral y G. Wiedemann, 1995). The study also used other factors such as the informants' neighborhood of residence, as well as the individual analysis of the speakers. The results show that the [ʃ] variant still survives in Granada, with results similar to those of previous sociolinguistic studies. Moreover, social factors are fundamental to notice the variation of /tʃ/. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SPANISH language , *DOMINANT language , *LANGUAGE contact , *SOCIAL processes , *ETHNICITY , *FEMININITY , *SOCIAL dominance - Abstract
This study of syllable‐final /s/ reduction in a 55‐speaker corpus of Spanish in Juchitán, México, a contact variety, uses both language contact and social processes to explain its results. Contact with the indigenous Isthmus Zapotec language leads to decreased rates of syllable‐final /s/ retention, creating a locally salient n+1‐order index between "Zapotecness" and /s/ reduction that influences the indexical field for syllable‐final /s/ reduction. Zapotec identity is associated with tradition and femininity. Therefore, in this new indexical field, syllable‐final /s/ reduction comes to directly index Zapotec language dominance and indirectly index both femininity and tradition. This leads feminine and elderly speakers to reduce /s/ more frequently than "less feminine" and young speakers, even though the opposite pattern is usually found in other varieties. The results show, therefore, that language contact can influence the indexical field typically linked to socially meaningful variation and thereby cause unexpected patterns of variation to emerge. In this research we present a sociolinguistic study on the variation of the/s/in implosive position in the Spanish spoken in the city of Seville. For this purpose, the work is based on PRESEEA materials from the high educational level of Seville's citizens, which in made of semi-structured surveys recollected between 2012 and 2014. The results have been obtained through a quantitative study of the data and after a application of stadistic correlations and logistic regression analyses in order to observe the influence of the independent variables in the pronunciation of the/s/implosive consonant when all the factors act simultaneously. The aim of this paper is to analyze what linguistic and social factors influence the production of the different articulatory variants of the phoneme/s/(sibilance, aspiration, elisión, assimilation and aspiration with assimilation). The results show that the aspirated allophone [h] is the most frequent variant, reaching the highest percentages, followed by the elision, which contrasts with the results obtained in others linguistic communities of Andalusia (e.g.: Málaga, Jaén, Granada) where it is observed that the most used variant is the elision. Resistance to potentially problematic behaviors, narratives, structures and incidents has a far reaching impact on the social fabric of society. The first step towards shaking the power structures in the history always started with a resistant word. The current paper attends to the resistant narratives/efforts and intends to provide a platform to assist, guide and channelize the resistance efforts. This would be accomplished by introducing the concept of resistance in this paper and demonstrating its parallel link to power and dominance. Further the paper would propose certain tools, skills and considerations to augment the resistant efforts and improve their effectiveness against the suppressing apparatuses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sociolinguistic is the discipline related with the aspects of the society that influence in the use of the language, as the cultural norms and the context in the speakers' environment. It studies the language like a system of signs in the social context. This paper has as main objective the design of a model for the study of this discipline according to the age of individuals, based on the cognitive fuzzy maps. Fuzzy cognitive maps are tools that allow us to represent the knowledge by means of the relationship of concepts, where for each relationship it is associated a weight in the interval [-1, 1] or [0, 1] that means the degree of each relationship among concepts, and moreover if this it is direct or inverse. The proposed model is an approach to the topic that will allow us carrying out predictions on possible scenarios, besides to spread and to share the results obtained by each one of the investigators interested in the topic. This study aims to determine the language choice of Indonesian ethnic Javanese, especially of the Brang Kidul of Ponoragan; based on the distinguishing vocabulary and intonation in the narrative. “Ponorogo Brang Kidul” is the designation for the southern part of Ponorogo Regency of the East Java Province. Employing qualitative research method, sociolinguistic approach, and research communication model, this research was conducted in the higher education community toward three respondents who are native Ponoragan Javanese speakers. The research data were obtained from recorded dialogues of speakers in four speech contexts between students and lecturers and between fellow students. The language code selection patterns found were Bahasa Jawa (BJ), Bahasa Jawa Ponoragan (BJP), Bahasa Arab (BA), and Bahasa Indonesia (BI) which would had been considered mainly based on situations, age, and social status. The BJP vocabularies frequently found in the Brang Kidul dialect were "alah mendah", "ritek", "byungalaah", "angkan", "gor", "ale", "klawus", "dipadoni", and "kesit". Finally, found that factors influencing the choice of language in this study were the interlocutors and the topic of conversation as well as the intonation in the speech of the different speakers, namely the rising tone at the beginning of the speech and falling at the end.

This research introduces a sociolinguistic study about a linguistic variation applied in diverse public contexts concerning performance of the following Andalusian politicians in Madrid: Juan Manuel Moreno, Susana Díaz, José Guirao and María Jesús Montero. Some linguistic and extralinguistic factors which characterize their political speech within public performance in the capital city of Spain, are represented here. On one hand, several linguistic changes that arose in the abovementioned cases will be observed, in particular, when they come into contact with standard Spanish. On the other hand, some speech acts performed by the same politicians in Andalusia will also be investigated in order to study their linguistic behavior in both contexts. Our results prove that various linguistic variations do actually occur during their discourses due to dissimilar public contexts. Nevertheless, the regional variant, particularly of Spanish spoken in Andalusia, is still the prevailing one. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The scientific literature on hate speech is extensive and composite: one can identify contributions that explore specific fields (legal, linguistic, ethnological, sociological, psychological, neurological, political), but also many works that combine different approaches and have the character of interdisciplinarity. By means of a wide-ranging exploration of the main scientific literature on the subject, focusing on the production - in the fields of linguistics, sociolinguistics and philosophy - of the last ten years, it was possible to see how, in all the selected examples - even when analysing "sub-themes" or specific subjects (e.g. hate speech towards homosexuals hate speech linked to genocides or the Holocaust, ethnic discrimination or violence against women) -, the premises and conclusions reached represent a step forward in terms of understanding and, consequently, limiting one of the phenomena that dramatically characterise our contemporary world and whose social effects can no longer be underestimated. This interdisciplinary study, which includes medical anthropology and semiotics, analyses knowledge of HIV/AIDS in Swahili plays from Tanzania. The analysis focuses on a semiotic and epistemological exploration of metaphors and other rhetorical devices used to speak about causes, symptoms and treatments for HIV/AIDS. The in-depth exploration of the culturally contextualised metaphorical images, created to refer to HIV/AIDS, is also conducted according to the multi-generic narrative strategy of the selected playscripts. The linguistic devices refect not only an anthropological perspective, in which diverse additional therapies co-exist in a therapeutic continuum, but also an epistemological approach, where Afrocentric knowledge can be diluted. In other words, aesthetic and narrative devices illustrate clash and co-existence of plural epistemologies of healing. The selected plays are the following titles: Ushuhuda wa Mifupa (‘the Testimony of the Bones’, Ngozi 1990); Kilio Chetu (‘Our lament’, MAF 1995); Giza (‘Darkness’, Jilala 2004); Kilio cha Jeska (‘Jeska’s Cry’, Mghanga 2004); Orodha (‘The List’, Reynolds 2006); Mwalimu Rose (‘The Teacher Rose’, Mghanga 2007); Judges on Trial (Nyoni 2009) and The Monster (Chikoti 2009); Zimwi la UKIMWI (‘The Beast’, Morgan 2010); Anaona Anasikia (‘He sees and hears’, Abeid 2014); and Embe Dodo (‘The Small Mango’, Makukula 2015). The fnal objective of this study will be to demonstrate how Swahili literature develops and communicates not only Afrocentric knowledge about HIV/AIDS, but also a philosophy of inclusion for plural heterogenous ways of knowing. ITALIAN language ,LINGUA francas ,FOURTEENTH century ,ITALIAN history ,SOCIAL justice - Abstract
The mistaken belief that the intense relationship between the Italian language and Albania is the result of a chance television craze in the 1990s often prevails. However, the language of the beautiful country has, in fact, traversed a centuries-long path in Albania, marked by alternating perceptions and conflicting sentiments towards it. This contribution to the conference “Communication and social justice, postcolonial narrations” aims to be a sociolinguistic journey through the history of the Italian language in Albania, from the 14th to the 20th century, with a particular focus on the years of Italian protectorate, culminating in the annexation and the subsequent establishment of the Kingdom of Italy and Albania. During this period, Italian became the language of trade and investments that propelled the country towards modernity. We will also explore the years of communist dictatorship when Italian became clandestine as the language of the enemy. Finally, this postcolonial narrative will lead us to the 1990s when Dante’s language became, for this Balkan region, a language of freedom. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

No one is calling the Russia-Ukraine conflict is considered the commencement of World War III right now. But all analyzes see it as Europe's biggest conflict since World War II as the war dragged on and it assumed a different character as well. The opening weeks of Russia's invasion of Ukraine were a war of military strategy. On the other hand, the Ukrainian troopsbuilt resistance was necessary to stop the enemy's advance. In military strategy, a well-trained and efficient army is necessary to conduct war properly. Over the past six years, with the help of Western allies, Ukraine has been able to build a military capable of such a war. As part of such a war, where resistance is needed (such as in Kyiv), the Ukrainian military has done so. Again, the army has withdrawn from where it is necessary to retreat (Donetsk and Luhansk). The Russian - Ukraine war can be considered a multi-dimensional disaster, which is likely to get much worse in the foreseeable future because while a war is successful, little attention is paid to its causes, but when the outcome is disastrous, understanding how it happened becomes paramount. All in all, this study intends to provide an overview of the Russia-Ukraine war and its causes with Waltz's three Images as Individual, Domestic Politics, and international systems as well. In addition to this, it also has attempted to understand the long-term effect(s) on world politics as well. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

English is an international language that is expected to be well-versed in. It can be learned and mastered in school or at a training facility. This paper looked at the different types, functions, and expressions of English used by Butler at Pandawa Beach Villas and Spa. The theories used in this study were those proposed by Blundell and Higgens (1983) in their book Function in English, the second theory proposed by Jones (1981) in his book Function of English, and the supporting theory proposed by Bruce Tillit and Mary Newton Bruders (1985) in their book Speaking Naturally. The research method was broken down into three parts: data source, data collection, and data analysis. Butler staff served as respondents in the study, and the data were collected using a note-taking technique that recorded the conversation between the guest and the butlers. The theory was used to analyze the data. The analysis revealed that the butler was able to communicate with the guest. The butlers used the English functions greeting, asking length of stay, giving price, offering help, requesting, asking for permission, getting information, giving information, apologizing, and thanking to communicate with the guests [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research was mainly aimed at finding out the types and the factors of code-mixing in the Vlog on the Sacha Stevenson YouTube Channel. Sacha Stevenson YouTube channel was chosen because there are various types of code-mixing used in the videos. The data were collected from the vlogs on the Sacha Stevenson YouTube channel by using the observation method. After the videos were found, the data were collected by watching and carefully listening to every speech in the videos. A note-taking technique was conducted when collecting the data. Then the data of code-mixing were recapped in the form of tables to make the next process easier. Then it is classified and analyzed based on the theory of code-mixing proposed by Muysken in his book entitled Bilingual Speech: A Typology of Code-Mixing (2000). To present the data, the informal method was used in presenting the data that was applied by providing explanations to describe and analyze the problems of code-mixing found in the data source. The result of this research shows that there are three main types of code-mixing found in the vlog on the Sacha Stevenson YouTube channel, they are insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. The code-mixing that occurs is caused by nine factors; perception of the interlocutor’s language background, language dominance, language attitude, psycholinguistic motivation, mixing in a highly accessible word or phrase, the participant roles and relationship, the social context, the topic, and the emotional factor [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In society, language is crucial for communicating with others. As a result, there are numerous varieties of language in this era, particularly in sociolinguistics. Sociolinguistics is the study of language varieties, and it is also associated with an inevitable phenomenon, bilingualism, or multilingualism. The goal of the study was to discuss the types of code-mixing that the author discovered in the novel Antologi Rasa. The information was gathered through observation. To obtain the information, the author took several steps. The writer should first read the book carefully, then make a note of any code-mixing that he or she finds in it the information gathered about the issues is then analyzed. Code-mixing is widely used as a communicative strategy in society, according to the findings. While speaking in Indonesian, the characters mix English linguistics items at all levels, or conversely, the characters speak in English and then mix it with Indonesian linguistics items. The author used a lot of foreign languages in the Antologi Rasa novel, and she described the character as a bilingual society because the character lived in several countries over a period, and there are a lot of code mixings based on the types of code-mixing. There were (15) data collected, with each type receiving (5). Insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization were the three categories [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SECOND language acquisition ,ATTITUDES toward language ,SOCIOECONOMICS ,SOCIOLINGUISTICS ,LEARNING - Abstract
This study examines some of the most important societal and individual factors and their impact on language learners in terms of second language acquisition. The review attempts to follow out the association between the social environment and the individual variable in second-language usage and acquisition, demonstrating that the development and processing of L2 inputs in the social context in learners' second language (L2) are socially intermediated. Furthermore, it highlights the social and linguistic circumstances that influence second language learners' language usage, choices, attitudes, and progression, as well as the active L2 utilized by learners to participate in social contexts. Following the advice of sociolinguists, second-language researchers planned to examine linguistic and social contextual variables, as well as individual variables that may explain disparities in and between learners. There has been a great deal of research exploring how social variables affect language learning. Such examination perceives that learners are social creatures and that language does not merely imply "sentence structure" or "grammar". The productivity or the outcome of the learner isn't alike for all learners; neither is the learners' grammars utilized in one individual learner interaction. Instead, learners can display unique patterns different from students with similar abilities. Learners are social beings and language doesn't simply imply grammar. Language scholars sought to look at linguistic and social contextual elements as well as individual characteristics that may explain disparities in and between learners. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to discuss Muhammad Izzat Darwazah’s perspective about the sword verses and the issues of its abrogation towards the peaceful verses (ayat al-silm) on al-Tafsīr al-h}adīth Tartīb al-Suwar h}asb al-Nuzūl. This paper focuses on the problem; how is Darwazah’s perspective on the theory of abrogation, that the peaceful verses have been abrogated by the sword verses? Furthermore, how is Darwazah’s perspective on the sword verses and its relation to the peaceful verses from a sociolinguistic perspective? Using a literary research method and a sociolinguistic approach, this article concludes that, according to Darwazah, there is no abrogation of peaceful verses by the sword verses. To prove his point, Darwazah presents the facts and conditions when the sword verses were revealed. This research also concludes that, through sociolinguistic analysis, wars/jihād never occurred during the prophet’s time except for self-defense. Furthermore, Darwazah argues that the sword verses, which are often used by Muslim extremists to legitimize their actions, have a different context from today, when inter-religious communities live peacefully.

- Abstract
This qualitative study aims to investigate how NATO employees experience the impact of power distance on decision-making. To answer that question, I have relied on a qualitative method consisting of a hybrid of questionnaires and interviews that were sent out. Six participants from four countries participated. When the results were examined through thematic analysis, five different themes emerged: decision-making, hierarchy, culture, power distance and language. The results indicate that power distance does affect decision-making within NATO to some extent; depending on which country the representatives come from. The indirect power wielded by the member states varies according to their respective geographical size, the size of their population and their annuity as a member of NATO. The study shows that power distance exists and to some extent affects decision-making within the organization. It also shows that the issue is complex, as not all participants are aware of the concept of power distance, although their responses indicate that they are aware of its existence within the organization. In conclusion, power distance is influenced by how long the nation has been a member of the Alliance, how many high-ranking people the nation has in the various offices of the Alliance, and how well these representatives are able to master language skills, to interpret what is said in a spatial and temporal context, and to weight words accurately; here English and negotiation skills are of great importance.

The aim of this essay is a sociolinguistic study on the variation of the /s/ in implosive position in the Spanish spoken in the city of Seville. Adopting a sociolinguistic perspective, this article is the result of doctoral research, which formed a study on the evolution of representations associated with the Portuguese language by multilingual adult learners in the city of Barcelona, Spain. The study proposal was divided into three phases: in the first, the representations produced by the learners in the different stages of the learning process between 2016 and 2019 were identified, using different methodological tools; the second consisted of analyzing the samples identified in the previous phase, showing the indicators that determine the evolution or not of the observed representations; and the third and last one consisted in comparing the impact or not of these representations in the different stages of language learning. The proposal sought not only to identify what the learners thought but mainly to understand how these representations could interfere in the learning process, and to, from there, reflect on a methodological adaptation in teaching practice. The results indicated that the representations were the motivating mechanism of language learning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For this paper, we studied the use of linguistic taboo words in Saudi Arabian society. Three main taboo topics were addressed in the current study: the use of taboo words in social contexts, the use of taboo sex words, and the use of taboo swear words. A randomly chosen sample of 253 Saudi females from two different age groups participated in the study. A closed-ended multiple-choice questionnaire was used to collect the data. The findings provided considerable insights into the behavior of Saudi society. Saudi society rarely uses taboo words. The strategy people use to avoid using taboo language is euphemism; sex topics, for instance, which may be overtly discussed in some cultures, are prohibited in Saudi culture. The findings also revealed that Saudi society is too sensitive to the use of swear words because they are culturally and religiously prohibited, though they were occasionally used by younger female participants. In general, this study showed that although the Saudi society is a conservative society, the younger generations of Saudi females are moving slowly toward making linguistic changes in society. Music remains a fundamental aspect of sociocultural traditions and environments. In this article, I explore a sierreño band of translingual youth artists and their appropriation of norteño music in their designing of new forms of expression. Employing the concept of communities of practice, I examine three youth musicians' experiences as members of a grupo sierreño (sierreño band) to highlight the nature of learning, sharing, and collaborative cultural action taking place in the membership of this collective. I use translingual literacy and translanguaging as sociocultural frames for understanding how the focal bilingual youth leverage their full semiotic and linguistic repertoires for productive musical and cultural practice and literacy. Drawing from ethnographic methods, the findings highlight the translingual ingenuity and power of the focal youth musicians as active agents in the construction of their musical and linguistic lives and their families' financial stability through the formation of their own creative translingual economy. Attending to these cultural activities can shed light on how transnational and translingual young people negotiate and make decisions, sophisticatedly employ literacies to communicate and solve problems, and come to make sense of their social worlds. Thoughtfully considering the musicality of young people can help educators better understand them as agentic constructors of their own creative capacities, skills, knowledge, and cultural lifeworlds. Across the globe, students increasingly use literacies to cross boundaries, locally and globally, virtually and geographically, willingly and involuntarily. They cross these boundaries with versatile linguistic backgrounds that allow them to effectively navigate new school and life worlds. Many students who cross boundaries are students of color who wrestle with what it means to critically read the word and the world even as they grapple with racialization. At the intersection of students' border‐crossing, languaging, and racialization are opportunities for understanding how teachers can center race by identifying and leveraging literate assets that immigrant and transnational students of color use to make meaning in and beyond classrooms. In this article, I present a transraciolinguistic approach as an intersectional and critical tool for centering race and racialized language while also addressing border‐crossing in students' literacy practice. Recommendations for teachers who wish to foster a transraciolinguistic approach to support critical literacy practice for all students are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Every being has name as identity, and surname can mark identity among people within a community. Thus, this study seeks to examine surname as markers of identity among the Ilorin people through a sociolinguistic approach. The study, based communication accommodation theory, surveyed 150 indigenous Ilorin surnames from respondents, library, archive and scheduled interview with ten elders as principal informants. Data collected were analysed and the surnames subjected to socio-linguistic analysis. The study revealed that Ilorin surnames can be Yorùbá-based, Hausa/ Fulani, foreign and clerical names with gods/goddesses substituted with professional names. Surnames indicating ‘ownership’ have ‘Oní’ as their root prefix and underwent; deletion, assimilation and denasalization when the suffix starts with a vowel and remain untransformed when a consonant starts the suffix. Ilorin surnames are unique to Ìlọrin indigenes, hence signified ethnic identity but with similar syntax, semantics and structure as other Yorùbá names.
