Virtual reconstruction of ancient buildings often has incomplete records of the original design and construction details, and can only be reconstructed based on limited data, drawings and photography, which is different from the actual conditions. The unique overhanging structure of the corridor gable building makes it vulnerable to damage in extreme weather conditions. In order to ensure that the virtual reconstruction results can not only reproduce the original appearance of history, but also ensure that the reconstructed model maintains structural stability in the long term. This paper proposes a reconstruction method of the original appearance of the corridor gable building remains based on structural dynamics analysis. This method comprehensively uses three-dimensional reconstruction, structural engineering, dynamic analysis, and computer simulation technology to ensure the structural accuracy and historical authenticity of the virtually reconstructed corridor gable building. First, through data collection and analysis, combined with ancient architectural construction techniques, a preliminary three-dimensional model was created, which included all structural elements and details. Several groups of reconstruction schemes are determined based on material properties. Then, using finite element analysis software, perform dynamic analysis on the three-dimensional model. Evaluate the stability of the reconstructed structure and optimize the material selection plan to ensure the feasibility and accuracy of the virtual reconstruction. Taking the virtual reconstruction of the eaves in front of Leiyin Cave as an example, it shows that this method is effective and feasible to achieve the virtual reconstruction of corridor gable buildings. ObjectiveTo describe the current state of research and future research hotspots through a metrological analysis of the literature in the field of forensic anthropological remains identification research.MethodsThe data retrieved and extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection （WoSCC）， the core database of the Web of Science information service platform （hereinafter referred to as “WoS”）， was used to analyze the trends and topic changes in research on forensic identification of human remains from 1991 to 2022. Network visualisation of publication trends, countries （regions）, institutions, authors and topics related to the identification of remains in forensic anthropology was analysed using python 3.9.2 and Gephi 0.10.ResultsA total of 873 papers written in English in the field of forensic anthropological remains identification research were obtained. The journal with the largest number of publications was Forensic Science International （164 articles）. The country （region） with the largest number of published papers was China （90 articles）. Katholieke Univ Leuven （Netherlands， 21 articles） was the institution with the largest number of publications. Topic analysis revealed that the focus of forensic anthropological remains identification research was sex estimation and age estimation, and the most commonly studied remains were teeth.ConclusionThe volume of publications in the field of forensic anthropological remains identification research has a distinct phasing. However, the scope of both international and domestic collaborations remains limited. Traditionally, human remains identification has primarily relied on key areas such as the pelvis, skull, and teeth. Looking ahead, future research will likely focus on the more accurate and efficient identification of multiple skeletal remains through the use of machine learning and deep learning techniques.

The treatment of the rubble from the fire at the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris was the subject of an unprecedented protocol, drafted jointly by several departments of the ministère de la Culture and implemented by these same teams, assisted by compagnons (workers, foremen, forklift operators, automatic machine operators) present on the safety site. The aim of this approach, which was implemented immediately after the disaster, was to identify, from amongst all the collapsed materials on the floor and on the vaults, those that could be recovered, both for restoration purposes and for long-term scientific research - thus passing from the status of debris to that of vestiges. A sampling protocol, using robotic equipment on the ground and rope access technicians on the vaults, was thus organised to document and locate each material recovered (photographs, orthophotographs, geolocation): material specialists and archaeologists took turns for nearly twenty-four (24) months, in a context of lead pollution and according to an extremely constrained schedule, to carry out this sorting and draw up an initial inventory. At the end of this first phase of the scientific project, nearly ten thousand (10,000) pieces of timber, six hundred and fifty (650) pallets of stone items and three hundred and fifty (350) pallets of metal items are now stored in warehouses rented by the project management team, under the responsibility of the ministère de la Culture, and are currently the subject of a detailed inventory. All of the vestiges collected will thus be able to be used for the restoration of the building and, through the many research programmes already underway, contribute to a renewed knowledge of the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris. The path that this paper intends to follow refers to a reading of the past (a controversy that occurred 40 years ago) and an update on our present. It is about tracing that arena of contention in the 1980s and recognizing the trail that it has left in our present. In this present, the weaknesses of democracy, the debts that have not yet been settled are enunciated as what remains to be achieved. However, these debts seem to drag on from the beginning, democracy in post-dictatorship Argentina was born with those debts on its back. This itself is at the heart of that controversy in the 1980s that, with the hegemony achieved by the so-called studies of transitions to democracy, was forgotten, with transitology becoming naturalized as the almost exclusive way of reflecting on it. The purpose of this research was to verify microbiological and yield indexes, sensorial attributes profile, acceptability and buy intention of fishburgers from residuals of mapará (Hypophthalmus spp.) from the fishery industry of Santarém -- Pará -- Brazil. The meat adhered to spines and skins (residuals) were extracted manually and this minced fish was submitted to washes using chlorinated water with pH (4.2; 5.2; 6.2 and 7.2) previously adjusted. Later, this minced fish was supplemented with various ingredients and shaped in circular format (80 g), resulting on fishburger, that was submitted to microbiological characterization (viability indicator) and yield determinations (on unwashed minced fish, washed minced fish and hamburger -- production indicators). The sensory analysis by 70 untrained judges verified the attributes profile and acceptation of fishburgers (commercial indicators). The bigger yield was obtained with water pH 7.2 and the microbiological indexes pointed the fishburger as adequate for human consumption. Sensorially, all the fishburgers obtained "I liked" as qualification. Although the water pH influenced on sensorial characteristics of fishburgers, is still recommended the neutral pH due the bigger yield and for adequation to actual Brazilian legislation. So, the viability of using mapará residuals for fishburger production is expressive due the positive tendence on the market, the security to consumer's health, potentials low cost of production and high index of the monetary aggregation. In very rare cases, individuals survive the atrocities of abduction, imprisonment and torture that are part of the hallmark of enforced disappearances. Cases of people who survive torture and seek asylum in a third country help us understand some important aspects related to the crime of enforced disappearance. In the psychotherapy of torture survivors, at an early stage and for a long time, words often do not convey the core of the patient's experience. Survivors usually have tormented bodies in which individual and collective violence, hatred, anger, guilt and shame are painfully inscribed. Corporeal countertransference becomes the only possible way for a therapist to get in touch with a survivor's experience through a kind of body‐to‐body communication. The centrality of the body in these therapies suggests that the body is the involuntary recipient and container of mass political atrocities and, for this reason, the place where, in the case of horrific social violence, the possibility of social "knowing" is stored and can be retrieved. Thus, when it comes to forced disappearance, the determination of the relatives to get to the truth through the discovery of the remains of their disappeared demonstrates the importance of the body as the final witness of what happened, beyond any possible manipulation. The book on the Basque cities by José Ignacio Linazasoro was conceived in a cultural climate with a strong pres-ence of the Italian morpho-typological discourse; however, in it the autor did not limited himself to applying a gen-eral theory to a particular case. In addition to deepening the knowledge of the urban and territorial evolution of a group of towns of medieval foundation on which the system of cities of the Basque Country is largely based, Lina-zasoro laid with him the bases of certain aspects that he would develop in his career later as an architect; special-ly, the work with the preexistences, the attention to the way in which the old is related to the new, and the interest in material questions. This paper focuses, on the one hand, on the cultural and profesional context in which the book arose and, on the other, on its significance for the later constructed work of Linazasoro.

The prison heritage of French Guiana and New-Caledonia consists of remains of great value, both for their integrity and the fact that they reflect a shared history to those two territories. The prison colonisation of these two old colonies by France from 1852 to 1953 has led to the sending of more than 100,000 convicts with the aim to encourage them to move on site at the end of their sentence in order to ensure the establishment of a society of settlement. While taking part in the economic development of the French colonial empire, this penalty aimed at the reintegration into society of thousands of convicted people seen as undesirable on French metropolitan soil and of other colonies. This model was directly inspired from the one implemented by Great Britain in Australia which sent there, from 1788 to 1868, more than 160,000 convicts. In 2010, Australia initiated the inscription on Unesco’s world heritage list of eleven of its penal sites. This operation enabled the conversion of old prisons associated with a painful memory into first-class tourist attractions and remembrance sites. This article presents the exceptional prison heritage of French Guiana and New-Caledonia and the assets of its remains so that they can, in turn, join Unesco’s world heritage list.

This article considers the ethical issues surrounding conducting research in archives that include records of atrocities, taking Baʿth Party and Islamic State records that were de-territorialized from Iraq between 1991 and 2016 as case studies. I argue for the need to further consider whether historical subjects are being granted a voice in how their stories are being told. I will discuss the dichotomy between the imperatives to expose human rights abuses and seek accountability, against the need to consider the power dynamics defining control of the post-mortem narratives of the individuals named within records. I advocate for an approach to academic research that takes into account the affective power of records and the relations created by engaging them. Aim: To explore parents' perspective on hospital's care and management of the remains of stillborn babies. Background: Each year, 2.6 million of pregnancies end as stillbirth. Recent literature began to understand parents' traumatic experience in stillbirth and its profound impact on parents' mental health and psychosocial effect. But there is limited understanding on the actual care and management of the stillborn baby, nor is there an agreement on how hospitals should care for the stillborn baby to mitigate parents' profound loss. Design: A descriptive phenomenological approach was applied to conduct this study. Methods: A purposive sample of twenty couples (40 individuals) who had encountered how to care for the remains of their stillborn babies participated in the study. The data were collected through in‐depth interviews, which involved semi‐structured and open‐ended questions. The phenomenological methods of Giorgi were applied to analyse the data. The COREQ checklist was used preparing the manuscript. Results: Parents felt unprepared and lack of support when they had to handle their stillborn babies' remains. The research results revealed two major themes: (1) Handling stillborn babies remain ignorantly; (2) Pacifying the disturbed soul on both sides. Conclusions: It was found in the study that reflection and identification were the emerging themes, which can enable healthcare professionals to understand parents' concerns in a meaningful way, as they deal with the remains of stillborn babies. Moreover, it is hoped that hospital administration and health care personnel should consider stillborn parents' concerns and incorporate their needs into nursing assessment and treatment practices. Relevance to clinical practice: Given stillbirth's profound implication for parents' identity and psychosocial role, hospitals need to be more sensitive and proactive to parents' cultural and religious needs when they care for stillborn baby and handle its body. The article describes the archaeological research of the Našlaičiai (Orphans’) Cemetery in Vilnius carried out over the period of 2017–2020. The remains of the Lithuanian post-war partisans shot in the KGB Internal Prison between 1956 and 1963 had been searched for more than a decade. Only in 2016 the historian D. Indrišionis suggested a solid hypothesis, based on archival documents and documented facts, that the remains of the partisans could be hidden together with the bodies of the executed criminals in the Našlaičiai Cemetery, then operating in the suburbs of Vilnius. Performed archaeological research confirmed this version, and the remains of all the partisans shot in the Vilnius KGB Internal Prison during the mentioned time period were found in the cemetery. The article presents a brief history of the Našlaičiai Cemetery, analyses the archival sources and methodology used in the research, and provides a detailed description of the course and the results of the archaeological research.

The review collects papers on the application of analytical chemistry in revealing the history of alchemy. In addition to historical alchemical texts, preserved material remains can also be a valuable source of information for historians of alchemy. The first part of the review focuses on the analysis of material artifacts: the remains of alleged transmutations (alchemical gold and silver), the rarely preserved specimens of Philosophers' Stone, alchemical medicines, remains of alchemical vessels and laboratories (cupellation included), and analysis of the bodily remains of the alchemists themselves. Non-destructive spectrometric methods predominate in these analyses. Experimental reconstruction of the course and the results of old alchemical processes and their subsequent analysis is another way to reveal the history of alchemy. This approach, which has only been used in recent decades, is covered in the second part of the review. The published individual reconstructions are set in a chemical–historical context and arranged into three time periods: ancient and Arabian alchemy, medieval and renaissance alchemy, and late alchemy and chymistry. This paper analyzes Atravesando la noche (1996) by Andrea Suárez Córica, ¿Quién te creés que sos? (2012) by Ángela Urondo Raboy and Diario de una Princesa Montonera (2012) by Mariana Perez to explore the strategies of recovery of the recent past ligated with Argentina’s last military dictatorship from the perspective of “desaparecido”’s daughters. I focus on the analysis of three relevant figures in these narratives that are characterized by their fragmentation: the rest, the dream and the ghost as dimensions in which search, memory and disappearance intersect. The rest -in terms of mortal remains, textual fragment or remain of day- link two areas: the search for knowledge about the mother's life and the search for knowledge about her death, searches that occur in the meantime of a phantasmatic vision that reaffirms its condition of presence-absence based on disappearance as an enigma.

One of the most serious problems in saffron production is that it is impossible to plant saffron again in a given farm. Therefore, it is essential to identify the reasons for not being able to plant saffron again in a given farm. This research was carried out in order to investigate the effect of residual soil of saffron, different ages of saffron field, its corm and extract on quantitative production of saffron in factorial as completely randomized design with three replications during 2016-2018, in a personal farm under natural conditions in Torbate Heydarieh, Iran. The first factor was soil age at three levels (including field soil without background of saffron cultivation (control treatment), field soil from which corms had been taken out two years ago, and soil under cultivation of saffron in the fourth year) and the second factor was the application of corm and its extract in three levels (including non-consumption of corm as control, crushed saffron corm 14 tons per hectare and consumption of aqueous extract of saffron corm with a concentration of 50 percent). The results showed that most traits were affected by treatments and their interactions. The cultivation of saffron in the field caused a significant reduction in the amount of leaf and flower components and their yield (more than 17 and 27 %, respectively). Also, using aqueous extract and crushed saffron corm reduced more than 10% of flower and leaf components and their yield. The highest stigma and leaf yield were observed in the control treatment (9.88 and 240.97 kg.ha-1, respectively) and the least stigma and leaf yield were observed in field soil two years after the outcrop and using crushed corms (2.27 and 16.09 kg.ha-1, respectively). So, it can be stated that remnants of saffron corm in the field significantly reduce the growth, reproduction, leaf and flower yield and its components and it is recommended that the cultivated saffron residues of the previous year be taken out from the soil for re-cultivation of saffron so that its harmful effects do not reduce the growth and yield of new saffron. The palynological study of modern soils formed on the former bottom of Lake Sevan as a result of its artificial drainage is of great importance since many aspects of replacement of vegetation of aquatic ecosystems by continental vegetation are reflected in the palynological spectra. These processes having taken place over the past 90 years, caused by the artificial lowering of the level of Lake Sevan by 18 meters can be considered as a model of development of lakeshore vegetation under conditions of natural regression of the waters of Lake Sevan. The study has allowed us to define new markers for identifying regressive phases according to palynological data. Despite the presence of redeposited pollen and non-pollen palynomorphs (NPPs), the palynological spectra of soils correctly reflect existing vegetation of the cultural and natural landscapes of the study area. Objective: Aim: To introduce a simple classification system for the degree of preservation and quality of the dentoalveolar apparatus into scientific circulation to further investigate dental diseases in ancestral populations.., Patients and Methods: Materials and Methods: The sample analyzed consisted of the remains of 499 individuals from the human populations that existed in the territories of Ukraine from the Copper Age to the Bronze Age. Teeth and jaws were examined macroscopically under bright light; dental changes were evaluated by probing. Dental radiographic examinations were performed using retroalveolar and panoramic X-ray films in adult individuals., Results: Results: The authors divide the dentoalveolar apparatus of fossil and subfossil skeletons into ten levels for further medical investigation of dental diseases. These levels depend on the preservation degree and changes in jaws and teeth., Conclusion: Conclusions: The study of bone and tooth preservation, determination of skeletal sex, and age characteristics is a separate section and stage in reconstructing the physical type of individuals and the health status of a community. Studying the taphonomic features of odontologic anthropological material should be a mandatory prerequisite preceding its analysis in paleopathology. The condition of the dentoalveolar system can be classified into ten levels for paleopathological conclusions. This classification will be helpful to doctors specializing in forensic medicine and anthropologists.

Although the regime applicable to the return of remains of combatants in international armed conflict is well known, the regime applicable in non-international armed conflicts is less clear. This is particularly the case when the members of armed groups are deemed to be 'terrorists' by the State which then refuses to return them to their families. The article examines how a Russian law to that effect has been examined and found wanting by the European Court of Human Rights. It suggests that the return of remains following non-international armed conflicts raises characteristic issues for the debate on the simultaneous and competing applicability of international humanitarian and international human rights law. Oscar Muñoz's work revolves around the question of the specificity of photography. By doing so, it redirects a current trend of visual studies that are fascinated with the non-specificity of the objects and the itinerancy of languages. Muñoz wonders what lies at the heart of photography. Is it the mechanical reproduction or the ability to chemically fix the image? Is it the power to isolate the instant or to perpetuate anything captured by the machine? The transformation that introduces photography has less to do with the work itself and more with the experience of image. That experience is, first of all, an experience of time since the image produces an intermediate time between proliferation and what is left as a remain.

Strong Room, by the artist and researcher Jane Wildgoose and the artist Roelof Bakker, was published in 2014 by Negative Press London, a small press established by Bakker with the aim of initiatiing collaborations in print between artists and writers. Strong Room mixes photographs showing traces of preserved past human activity with writing, which highlights the loss of tangible experience and lack of physical presence in the digital world. Reflecting on the aesthetics of abandoned workspaces and the historical and academic importance of paper-based archives, Bakker and Wildgoose explore the potential for perceptions of materialiy to prompt the imagination and evoke memories. In this article, the artists reflect on a range of subjective responses to archives and archival materials and discuss the background to their collaborative approach to developing the book: presenting a selection of Bakker's photographs together with extracts from the accompanying essays in Strong Room.
