This article investigates an observer-based robust model predictive control (RMPC) design to control the uncertain discrete-time linear systems with disturbances. To make a more practical scheme, it is supposed that the uncertain system has been faced with unknown disturbance and input constraints. The proposed RMPC approach is based on a state feedback control design that ensures the H ∞ performance criterion to attenuate disturbance affections. Furthermore, in view of practical application, the control law is constructed based on the estimated states obtained from the Luenberger observer. Based on Lyapunov's theory, the input to state practically stability (ISPS) of the closed-loop system is ensured. Appropriate conditions for the ISPS of the closed-loop system and the estimation error are obtained in terms of online linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which lead to obtaining the time-varying gain matrices of both controller and observer. Finally, to validate the obtained results, the proposed approach is applied to a numerical example and it is compared with the existing control scheme and the superiority is proved. This article presents a robust security‐based model predictive control (MPC) framework for a class of discrete‐time nonlinear cyber‐physical systems (CPSs) suffering random deception attacks and persistent actuator saturation. In CPSs, the attacks can significantly degrade the control performance. Naturally, a larger degree of control is required, prompting the consideration of actuator saturation in CPS's structure. In our work, the cyberattacks on the controller‐actuator (C‐A) channel are described as a stochastic process with specific probability and bounded energy. The security‐related constraint is introduced to improve the resistance and robustness against attacks. Mean‐square quadratic boundedness is derived to estimate the robustly invariant set. By placing the saturated input into a convex hull, a robust security‐based MPC optimization problem is addressed less conservatively with linear matrix inequality technique. Furthermore, the feasibility of the proposed method is proved recursively, and the stability and security of the closed‐loop system are established in mean‐square sense. This work studies the application of a sample-based model Monte Carlo Model Predictive Control (MCMPC) to address discontinuous events, such as collisions. The inclusion of contact dynamics in the prediction steps of MCMPC renders it advantageous for the operation of underwater snake robots in restricted environments during rescue missions. The Curvature Derivative Control (CDC) method is employed for the purpose of controlling the joints, with the exception of the head joint. The snake robot body demonstrates adaptability to various environments with the assistance of the CDC. Results obtained from the simulation demonstrate that the snake robot is capable of autonomously navigating from its beginning position outside the region to a pipe as the entrance in order to get inside. The robot successfully traverses through various internal structures within the pipe and ultimately reaches the intended destination, guided by a predetermined cost function of MCMPC. Aiming at the problem that the switching frequency is not fixed and the number of samples is large when using the traditional finite control set-model predictive control (FCS-MPC) method for a five-level inverter with coupled inductors, an improved model prediction method is proposed. This improved method combines the space vector pulse width modulation and the minimum current error optimization principle to design the modulation strategy, and combines the modulation function with the evaluation function to obtain a modulation function that satisfies the minimum current error. Compared with the traditional finite set model prediction method, the improved method can realize the balance of the coupled inductor current without measuring the coupled inductor current, can fix the switching frequency of power switches, and retains the rapidity of the traditional model predictive control. Voltage instability in power systems arises due to the shortage of reactive power and may cause abnormally low bus voltages leading to a partial or complete blackout. In order to maintain the system voltages within a safe limit, voltage control techniques such as shunt capacitor banks, Static VAR Compensators (SVCs), load shedding, and transformer tap-changer blocking, are employed. In this paper, a novel receding-horizon Model Predictive Control (MPC)-based voltage controller is proposed, which, by optimally controlling generator reactive power and SVC output, maintains the voltage stability of a power system. For this, a sensitivity-based analysis is performed to design a state-space model of the power system. The frequency and voltage dependency of load and generation are considered in the system equations. The voltage control is done step-wise, and the optimal control action in each step is calculated by minimizing a cost function subject to a set of relevant constraints. Different Voltage Stability Indices (VSIs) are used as a measure of voltage stability and also used in the constraints for the optimization problem. The tracking of optimal current trajectories in an interior permanent magnet (IPM) synchronous machine is traditionally realized by a complex online tracking, inaccurate analytical equations, or tiresome offline calibration methods. This paper proposes a modified hybrid feed-forward/feedback flux-weakening algorithm for IPM synchronous machines. In this paper, the utilized power converter is a standard T-type multilevel inverter, and hence, the voltage and current harmonics contents of the conventional two-level inverter are improved. The control algorithm utilizes the optimal current profile for maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) operation and a voltage regulation (VR) feedback control for efficient flux-weakening operation. For infinite-speed IPM machine drives, the d-q current components are limited to follow the maximum torque per voltage (MTPV) trajectory. A low-complexity model predictive control (MPC) is employed to minimize the conflict that arises from using cascaded PI control loops for current and speed control. The performance of the drive is investigated based on the Prius 2004 IPM parameters. Extensive simulation scenarios were performed using the MATLAB/SIMULINK which validates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Real-time simulations based on the dSPACE DS 1103 platform are conducted to confirm the system validity for real hardware implementation. The classical model predictive control (MPC) usually aims to minimize the current error at the end of the control period. This method is equivalent to minimizing the current total harmonic distortion (THD) when the control period tends to be infinitely small. However, due to the limitations of hardware in practice, the optimization effect of current THD is not obvious. Aiming at the above problem, an improved double-vector model predictive control method is proposed for the single-phase active-neutral-point-clamped five-level (ANPC-5L) inverter. Two voltage vectors in each control cycle are used in this method to reduce the current THD by minimizing the area enclosed by the actual and reference current. In addition, a capacitor voltage control method is designed for the problem of multiple control objectives coupling in this structure. In this method, an idea of hierarchy is designed for voltage jump and switching transition limits, neutral point (NP) voltage, and flying capacitor (FC) voltage, achieving the effect of weightless factor and good dynamic and static performance. A combined steering and braking collision avoidance control method based on model predictive control is proposed in the present paper. This method can overcome the limitations of single steering or braking collision avoidance and improve vehicle safety and tracking performance in extremely complex conditions. The utilization rate of tire force, path tracking performance, and driving stability are considered in the design of the model predictive control (MPC) optimization objective. In addition, the front wheel angle and four-wheel braking torque are taken as the optimization variables. In this paper, we propose the design of a robust control strategy for the trajectory tracking problem in perturbed unicycle mobile robots. The proposed strategy comprises the design of a robust control law, which is based on an Integral Sliding‐Mode Control (ISMC) approach together with an interval predictor‐based state‐feedback controller through a Model Predictive Control (MPC) scheme. The robust controller deals with some perturbations in the kinematic model, which represent slipping effects, and with state and input constraints that are related to restrictions on the workspace and saturated actuators, respectively. The proposed approach guarantees the exponential convergence to zero of the tracking error. The scientific diagnosis and treatment of patients with diabetes require frequent blood glucose testing and insulin delivery to normoglycemia. Therefore, an artificial pancreas with a continuous blood glucose (BG) monitoring function is an urgent research target in the medical industry. The problem of closed-loop algorithmic control of the BG with a time delay is a key and difficult issue that needs to be overcome in the development of an artificial pancreas. Firstly, the composition, structure, and control characteristics of the artificial pancreas are introduced. Subsequently, the research progress of artificial pancreas control algorithms is reviewed, and the characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of proportional-integral-differential control, model predictive control, and artificial intelligence control are compared and analyzed to determine whether they are suitable for the practical application of the artificial pancreas. Additionally, key advancements in areas such as blood glucose data monitoring, adaptive models, wearable devices, and fully automated artificial pancreas systems are also reviewed. Finally, this review highlights that meal prediction, control safety, integration, streamlining the optimization of control algorithms, constant temperature preservation of insulin, and dual-hormone artificial pancreas are issues that require further attention in the future. Formation flying represents a promising opportunity for next space missions, due to its benefits in cost saving, redundancy and fault tolerance given by multiple small and cheap space segments exploitation, with comparable performance of a single, large monolithic spacecraft. That is even more relevant in asteroid exploration, as the harsh environment poses great risks to the probes survival. The low, irregular gravity field, the poor knowledge of shape and composition, and the possible presence of floating particles in the surroundings suggest adopting a low-risk strategy for the exploration of these bodies, delegating proximity operations to multiple nanosatellites, while keeping the main spacecraft at safe distance. As a downside, multiple cooperating spacecraft imply advanced capabilities in accurately reconstructing the relative positions and displacements and in fixing reconfiguration manoeuvres. Moreover, whenever relative distance is very close, agents' guidance and control shall be autonomously computed by the spacecraft, as promptness of commands is not ensured relying on ground segment only. The partially unknown environment exacerbates this issue, demanding navigation and control schemes capable of withstanding potentially large uncertainties in the dynamics. If a binary system is considered, the multiple gravitational sources complicate even more the setup of the formation, requiring an accurate search and selection of operative orbits. This study will be thus defined by three different steps. First the search and development of suitable trajectories to host a reconfigurable satellite formation is carried out. Then the design of a Model Predictive on-board guidance and control law is performed to assess the capability of the spacecraft to execute successful reconfiguration transfers relying on a simplified dynamical model (namely the Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem). At the end the navigation error requirements are derived, in order to ensure the feasibility of the guidance and control scheme. Inspired by the Hera mission, this study explores the aforementioned aspects of the design of a formation for the exploration of the Didymos binary asteroid system, which comprises many complications but also challenges for many other future missions to fly in unexplored environments. Summary Virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) can provide damping and inertia for new power systems are of wide interest. Model predictive control (MPC) has the advantages of simple structure, easy to deal with constraints, and can achieve multi‐objective control. However, the conventional MPC has the problems of relying on the model parameters as well as the difficulty of taking the values of the weighting factors. Based on this, this paper proposes a robust MPC control strategy without weighting factors, which improves the system robustness by identifying the model parameters through model reference adaptive system (MRAS); and introduces fuzzy decision making (FDM) to avoid the selection of weighting factors. First, the mathematical model of VSG is established and the prediction model of VSG multi‐objective control is derived. Second, a detailed analysis is conducted to examine the impact of parameter mismatch on VSG. Third, the expression for online identification of parameters is derived based on Popov's superstability theory, using FDM to optimize multi‐objective control and using decision functions instead of cost functions to avoid the selection of weighting factors. In the emergency rescue and disposal of social public emergencies, supply transportation effectively provides a strong supply foundation and realistic conditions. The trajectory tracking control of emergency supplies transportation robot is the key technology to ensure the timeliness of transportation. In this article, the emergency supplies transportation robot is taken as the research object, based on Koopman operator theory, combined with radial basis function (RBF) neural network disturbance observer and adaptive prediction horizon event‐triggered model predictive control (APET‐MPC) algorithm to investigate the purely data‐driven trajectory tracking control problem of emergency supplies transportation robot when the model parameters and models are unknown. Firstly, the Koopman operator is used to establish a high‐dimensional linear model of the robot. Secondly, the RBF neural network disturbance observer is designed to estimate the disturbance during the robot operation and compensate it to the controller. Thirdly, APET‐MPC is used to optimize the trajectory tracking control of the emergency supplies transportation robot to reduce computational complexity. Finally, the performance of the proposed trajectory tracking controller is verified by Carsim/ Simulink joint simulation. The simulation results show that the model established by Koopman operator theory can achieve the high accuracy approximation of the robot. Compared with the MPC trajectory tracking controller, the APET‐MPC trajectory tracking controller based on RBF neural network disturbance observer (RBF‐APET‐MPC) improves the tracking accuracy of the robot and reduces the total triggering times of the system by more than 50%. In this article, a resilient model predictive control algorithm incorporating a dual‐mode control strategy is proposed for a class of cyber‐physical systems subject to state and input constraints, additive disturbances and denial‐of‐service (DoS) attacks. An adversary aims to disrupt the controller‐to‐actuator channel by deploying adversarial jamming signals. By exploring the prediction uncertainty between a nominal model and an actual model and utilizing a constraint tightening technique, a novel set of constraints is developed, which guarantees robust constraint satisfaction in open‐loop mode caused by DoS attacks. A robust positive invariant set is designed, which allows the control mode to switch from rolling optimization to a state‐feedback control law when the state enters its interior, thus saving computational resources. We explicitly determine a critical duration for DoS attacks and, through theoretical analysis, establish that when the duration of DoS attacks falls below this critical value, the proposed algorithm ensures guaranteed recursive feasibility and robust asymptotic stability. This paper studies a cooperative modeling framework to reduce the complexity in deriving the governing dynamical equations of complex systems composed of multiple bodies such as biped robots and unmanned aerial and ground vehicles. The approach also allows for an optimization-based trajectory generation for the complex system. This work also studies a fast–slow model predictive control strategy with task prioritization to perform docking maneuvers on cooperative systems. The method allows agents and a single agent to perform a docking maneuver. In addition, agents give different priorities to a specific subset of shared states. In this way, overall degrees of freedom to achieve the docking task are distributed among various subsets of the task space. The fast–slow model predictive control strategy uses non-linear and linear model predictive control formulations such that docking is handled as a non-linear problem until agents are close enough, where direct transcription is calculated using the Euler discretization method. During this phase, the trajectory generated is tracked with a linear model predictive controller and addresses the close proximity motion to complete docking. The trajectory generation and modeling is demonstrated on a biped robot, and the proposed MPC framework is illustrated in a case study, where a quadcopter docks on a non-holonomic rover using a leader–follower topology. In recent years, the development of hydrogen energy has been widely discussed, particularly in combination with renewable energy sources, enabling the production of "green" hydrogen. With the significant increase in wind power generation, a promising solution for obtaining green hydrogen is the development of wind-to-hydrogen (W2H) systems. However, the high proportion of wind power and electrolyzers in a large-scale W2H system will bring about the problem of renewable energy consumption and frequency stability reduction. This paper analyzes the operational characteristics and economic feasibility of mainstream electrolyzers, leading to the proposal of a coordinated hydrogen production scheme involving both a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer and an alkaline (ALK) electrolyzer. Subsequently, a coordinated control based on Model Predictive Control (MPC) is proposed for system frequency regulation in a large-scale W2H islanded microgrid. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that the system under PEM/ALK electrolyzers coordinated control not only flexibly accommodates fluctuating wind power but also maintains frequency stability in the face of large disturbances. Compared with the traditional system with all ALK electrolyzers, the frequency deviation of this system is reduced by 25%, the regulation time is shortened by 80%, and the demand for an energy storage system (ESS) is reduced. This paper presents a centralized disturbance suppression strategy for distributed drive electric vehicles which is based on model predictive direct motion control. This strategy is capable of addressing issues such as parameter uncertainties and external disturbances in vehicles. Firstly, the paper provides a brief introduction to model predictive direct motion control. Secondly, it analyzes the impact of vehicle parameter uncertainties and external disturbances on the mathematical model. Finally, a centralized disturbance suppression strategy based on a sliding mode observer is proposed. The wind power generation system of a 5 MW horizontal axis wind turbine has a high wind energy conversion efficiency. The proportion of installed capacity in practical production applications is increasing year on year, so that the stability of its operation becomes a central factor in determining the productivity of the wind farm in question. This paper takes a 5 MW wind turbine as the research object and proposes a parameter‐adaptive robust model predictive control method to achieve self‐optimization of controller parameters through a Bayesian optimization approach. A robust model predictive control strategy, aiming to reduce the power fluctuation while maximizing the power output, is developed in this paper to enhance the dynamic economic performance under uncertain wind speed variation. A Bayesian algorithm is used in this paper to optimize the parameters of the controller. Moreover, wind speeds are simulated using TurbSim for different turbulence intensities of 5%, 10%, and 15% turbulence. Finally, the robust model predictive control toolbox in MATLAB is designed and simulated. The results show that the operational instability of the wind energy system is overcome. Summary: Ensuring nominal asymptotic stability of the nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) controller is not trivial. Stabilizing ingredients such as terminal penalty term and Terminal Region (TR) are crucial in establishing the asymptotic stability. Approaches available in the literature provide limited degrees of freedom for the characterization of the TR for the discrete time quasi infinite horizon NMPC formulation. Current work presents alternate approaches namely arbitrary controller based approach and linear quadratic regulator (LQR) based approach, which provide larger degrees of freedom for enlarging the TR. Both the approaches are scalable to system of any dimension. Approach from the literature provides a scalar whereas proposed approaches provide two additive matrices as tuning parameters for shaping of the TR. Proposed approaches involve solving modified Lyapunov equations to compute terminal penalty term, followed by explicit characterization of the TR. Efficacy of the proposed approaches is demonstrated using benchmark two state system. TR obtained using the arbitrary controller based approach and LQR based approach are approximately 10.4723 and 9.5055 times larger by area measure when compared to the largest TR obtained using the approach from the literature. In actual working environments, underactuated overhead cranes are susceptible to the adverse effects of the mechanical friction, uncertain parameters, and other disturbances. In particular, if the payload is disturbed (i.e. the unmatched disturbance), unpredictable swings would occur. Therefore, a discrete time sliding mode predictive control for overhead cranes based on a disturbance observer is proposed. Specifically, to eliminate uncertain disturbances, we propose a disturbance observer to estimate and compensate the disturbance to the input channel. Then, a new discrete sliding mode control law is obtained by adding the disturbance error estimator to the discrete sliding mode surface. In order to reduce the chattering inherent in the sliding mode, we integrate the discrete sliding mode law into the model predictive control, and use the rolling optimization and feedback correction of the predictive control, and finally output the optimal control law to act on the system. This control method can not only further improve the control accuracy, but also has sufficient robustness. To solve the problem of trajectory tracking lateral control in autonomous driving technology, a model predictive control (MPC) controller trajectory tracking lateral control method combined with a deep deterministic policy gradient algorithm (DDPG) is proposed in this paper. This method inputs the real-time state of the vehicle into DDPG to achieve real-time automatic optimization of the prediction time domain and control time domain parameters of the MPC controller, and then affects the specific performance of the MPC controller in trajectory tracking lateral control. Specifically, the state space, action space, and reward function of DDPG are defined, and the automatic driving trajectory tracking lateral controller is designed in combination with the vehicle dynamics model. To reduce the exploration space of DDPG and improve the training efficiency of the entire model, the technique of advantage-disadvantage experience separation and extraction is introduced. Finally, the proposed method was trained and verified in various scenarios, and compared with two other lateral control methods for autonomous driving. The results showed that the learning and training time of the trajectory tracking lateral control method based on DDPG-MPC was shorter than that of the DDPG-based method, and the evaluation indicators in the trajectory tracking control process were better than those of the DDPG-based method and original MPC-based method. In limit conditions, autonomous vehicles face the risk of lateral instability. The integrated control of steering and braking, an important measure for improving the stability of autonomous vehicles, has been extensively studied. A novel steering and braking integrated model predictive path tracking control (PTC) based on a dimension reduction model is proposed in this study. This method aims at the dilemma of the real-time limitation of the current integrated model predictive PTC based on nonlinear vehicle dynamics in practical applications and the unsatisfactory control effect of the integrated model predictive PTC based on the linearised vehicle dynamics in limit conditions. The core concept of this study is to reduce the input dimension of the integrated controller model by designing a model dimension reduction method, thereby reducing the decision variables of the optimisation problem and improving the real-time performance. The model dimension reduction method is designed based on the optimal utilisation of tire force to ensure the control performance of the proposed integrated control method in limit conditions. The integrated control method based on the dimension reduction model is compared with several existing integrated control methods in limit conditions to demonstrate its validity and superiority. The simulation tests with Simulink and CarSim indicate that the proposed method can reduce the calculation time by more than 40 $ \% $ % on the premise of ensuring path tracking accuracy and vehicle stability in limit conditions. The energy generation efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems is compromised by partial shading conditions (PSCs) of solar irradiance with many maximum power points (MPPs) while tracking output power. Addressing this challenge in the PV system, this article proposes an adapted hybrid control algorithm that tracks the global maximum power point (GMPP) by preventing it from settling at different local maximum power points (LMPPs). The proposed scheme involves the deployment of a 3 × 3 multi-string PV array with a single modified boost converter model and an adapted perturb and observe-based model predictive control (APO-MPC) algorithm. In contrast to traditional strategies, this technique effectively extracts and stabilizes the output power by predicting upcoming future states through the computation of reference current. The boost converter regulates voltage and current levels of the whole PV array, while the proposed algorithm dynamically adjusts the converter's operation to track the GMPP by minimizing the cost function of MPC. Additionally, it reduces hardware costs by eliminating the need for an output current sensor, all while ensuring effective tracking across a variety of climatic profiles. The research illustrates the efficient validation of the proposed method with accurate and stable convergence towards the GMPP with minimal sensors, consequently reducing overall hardware expenses. Simulation and hardware-based outcomes reveal that this approach outperforms classical techniques in terms of both cost-effectiveness and power extraction efficiency, even under PSCs of constant, rapidly changing, and linearly changing irradiances. As an efficient, clean and pollution-free power generation device, proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has been widely applied in transportation, distributed power generation and other fields. However, the performance of PEMFC cannot be separated from appropriate cathode gas supply, for example, it is prone to oxygen starvation under frequent variable load conditions. This is due to the mismatch between the air supply rate and the electrochemical reaction rate, making it difficult for the system to meet the air flow requirement instantaneously when subject to the load changes abruptly. Thus, oxygen starvation control has become a particularly challenging nonlinear control problem because of the great difficulty in achieving an accurate system identification model and an efficient controller. To this end, a long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network-based model predictive control (MPC) is developed to model and control the PEMFC air supply system, which combines the advantages of LSTM and MPC. Firstly, LSTM is utilized to train an online control-oriented model from the measured dataset. Secondly, a sparrow search algorithm (SSA) is utilized to update the hyper-parameters of LSTM model, which can obtain more accurate predictive model in MPC. Thirdly, the MPC with LSTM-SSA model is solved online using different high efficiency solvers. Fourthly, the proposed LSTM-SSA based on MPC is adopted to model and control a PEMFC air supply system. The current hybrid flow shop task allocation usually assumes a static manufacturing environment, which cannot effectively handle uncertain events in the production process. To address this, the dynamic task allocation problem for machines in parallel with different speeds is studied, and a Mixed Logical Dynamical (MLD) model for predicting the state of the production system is established. A dynamic allocation method based on Model Predictive Control (MPC) is proposed. The proposed novel method integrates dynamic model with rolling optimization to better deal with uncertain events in production process by decomposing the overall planning problem into smaller local planning models. Numerical results show that the proposed method outperform the traditional global planning method and rule-based allocation method in terms of time and job processing rate. In addition, through the Plant Simulation software, the simulation results are consistent with the numerical results, which fully proves the effectiveness of the proposed method. This paper introduces a novel data‐driven approach to develop a fault‐tolerant model predictive controller (MPC) for non‐linear systems. By adopting a Koopman operator‐theoretic perspective, the proposed method leverages historical data from the system to construct a data‐driven model that captures the non‐linear behaviour and fault characteristics. The fault influence is addressed through an online estimation of a time‐varying Koopman predictor, which allows for adjusting the MPC control law to counteract the fault effects. This estimation is performed in a higher dimensional Koopman feature space, where the dynamics behave linearly. As a result, the non‐linear fault‐tolerant MPC optimization problem can be replaced with a more practical and feasible linear time‐varying one using the approximated Koopman predictor. Moreover, by incorporating the online update procedure, the time‐varying Koopman predictor can represent the dynamics of the faulty system. Hence, the controller can adapt and compensate for the faults in real‐time, integrating the fault diagnosis module in the MPC framework and eliminating the need for a separate fault detection unit. Finally, the efficacy of the proposed approach is demonstrated through case study results, which highlight the ability of the controller to mitigate faults and maintain desired system behaviour. Modular dual permanent magnet vernier machine incorporate the merits of high torque density and low iron loss, suitable for lowspeed high-torque applications. Due to high torque ripples, high current harmonics and high speed fluctuations in control system of modular dual permanent magnet machine for new energy tractor, an improved model predictive current control strategy is proposed. Compared with conventional model predictive current control, mode predictive current control based on dual vector is adopted in proposed strategy, double arbitrary voltage vector can be selected to operate simultaneously in each control cycle that extends selection range of voltage vector and adjustment range of amplitude, which can realize more accurate current control. Controlling the time evolution of a probability distribution that describes the dynamics of a given complex system is a challenging problem. Achieving success in this endeavour will benefit multiple practical scenarios, e.g., controlling mesoscopic systems. Here, we propose a control approach blending the model predictive control technique with insights from information geometry theory. Focusing on linear Langevin systems, we use model predictive control online optimisation capabilities to determine the system inputs that minimise deviations from the geodesic of the information length over time, ensuring dynamics with minimum "geometric information variability". We validate our methodology through numerical experimentation on the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process and Kramers equation, demonstrating its feasibility. Furthermore, in the context of the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process, we analyse the impact on the entropy production and entropy rate, providing a physical understanding of the effects of minimum information variability control. This paper presents the design of model predictive control (MPC) combined reinforcement learning (RL) applied in an intelligent transportation system (ITS). The car is to follow the reference path by the MPC control, and its parks in the parking by RL has been trained. The MPC controller constantly moves the vehicle along the reference path while the MPC algorithm searches for an empty parking spot. Meanwhile, the reinforcement learning-proximal policy optimization (RL-PPO) control will perform parking on demand if the MPC finds a parking position. This hybrid controller can quickly implement programming on MATLAB software by writing code. Furthermore, this hybrid controller simultaneously performs precise detection and avoidance of obstacles in tight parking spaces. When humanoid robots work in human environments, they are prone to falling. However, when there are objects around that can be utilized, humanoid robots can leverage them to achieve balance. To address this issue, this paper established the state equation of a robot using a variable height-inverted pendulum model and implemented online trajectory optimization using model predictive control. For the arms' optimal joint angles during movement, this paper took the distributed polygon method to calculate the arm postures. To ensure that the robot reached the target position smoothly and rapidly during its motion, this paper adopts a whole-body motion control approach, establishing a cost function for multi-objective constraints on the robot's movement. These constraints include whole-body dynamics, center of mass constraints, arm's end effector constraints, friction constraints, and center of pressure constraints. In the simulation, four sets of methods were compared, and the experimental results indicate that compared to free fall motion, adopting the method proposed in this paper reduces the maximum acceleration of the robot when it touches the wall to 69.1 m/s2, effectively reducing the impact force upon landing. Finally, in the actual experiment, we positioned the robot 0.85 m away from the wall and applied a forward pushing force. We observed that the robot could stably land on the wall, and the impact force was within the range acceptable to the robot, confirming the practical effectiveness of the proposed method. The lateral vibration of the car body affects the lateral stability of high-speed trains (HSTs), and the aim of this study is to design a good control strategy to decrease the lateral vibration of the car body. First, the Maxwell model of the anti-yaw damper was transformed into a Voigt model by the equivalence method, and a modified 17-degree-of-freedom (DOF) lateral vibration model that includes the anti-yaw damper was established. After the design difficulty and control accuracy of the control strategy were weighed, the lateral and yaw motions of the wheelsets were regarded as disturbances, and a disturbance observer of wheelset motions was designed to simplify the 17-DOF model to a 9-DOF lateral vibration model. Second, a model predictive control (MPC) strategy for HST lateral vibration was designed, and the effects of the key parameters on the lateral vibration acceleration of the HST car body and on the iterative computation time of the MPC strategy were studied. In addition, a conditionally triggered model predictive control (CMPC) strategy was proposed. An active disturbance suppression and model predictive control (MPC) strategy is proposed for the quadrotor precision trajectory tracking control problem under disturbance action and model uncertainty. In recent years, with the growing number of EV charging stations integrated into the grid, optimizing the aggregated EV load based on individual EV flexibility has drawn aggregators' attention as a way to regulate the grid and provide grid services, such as day-ahead (DA) demand responses. Due to the forecast uncertainty of EV charging timings and charging energy demands, the actual delivered demand response is usually different from the DA bidding capacity, making it difficult for aggregators to profit from the energy market. This paper presents a two-layer online feedback control algorithm that exploits the EV flexibility with controlled EV charging timings and energy demands. Firstly, the offline model optimizes the EV dispatch considering demand charge management and energy market participation, and secondly, model predictive control is used in the online feedback model, which exploits the aggregated EV flexibility region by reducing the charging energy based on the pre-decided service level for demand response in real time (RT). The proposed algorithm is tested with one year of data for 51 EVs at a workplace charging site. The results show that with a 20% service level reduction in December 2022, the aggregated EV flexibility can be used to compensate for the cost of EV forecast errors and benefit from day-ahead energy market participation by USD 217. In a complex traffic environment, dynamic changes bring difficulties in the safety of driving and optimizing energy management for fuel cell hybrid vehicles. Adding the supercapacitor (SC) may have advantages for energy distribution, which also challenges energy allocation problems. In response to these problems, a hierarchical control strategy for velocity optimization and energy management is proposed. Firstly, a safe distance adjustment mechanism is designed according to the road information and external disturbances considering the safe driving conditions. Secondly, the nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) algorithm based on the sequence is adopted to obtain the optimal speed considering the ramp. Ultimately, an energy management strategy based on model predictive control (MPC) is designed to achieve a reasonable power allocation, which uses multi-objective performance functions to minimize the power source's degradation, extend the working life, and reduce energy consumption. At the same time, the influence of the supercapacitor on each performance index when it participates in energy supply is verified. The simulation results show that the designed strategies can obtain a safe optimal speed sequence and ensure safe driving with the preceding vehicle. The application of compact NMR instruments to hot flowing samples or exothermically reacting mixtures is limited by the temperature sensitivity of permanent magnets. Typically, such temperature effects directly influence the achievable magnetic field homogeneity and hence measurement quality. The internal‐temperature control loop of the magnet and instruments is not designed for such temperature compensation. Passive insulation is restricted by the small dimensions within the magnet borehole. Here, we present a design approach for active heat shielding with the aim of variable temperature control of NMR samples for benchtop NMR instruments using a compressed airstream which is variable in flow and temperature. Based on the system identification and surface temperature measurements through thermography, a model predictive control was set up to minimise any disturbance effect on the permanent magnet from the probe or sample temperature. This methodology will facilitate the application of variable‐temperature shielding and, therefore, extend the application of compact NMR instruments to flowing sample temperatures that differ from the magnet temperature. Parallel three-level neutral point clamped (3L-NPC) inverters are widely used in power conversion applications, such as new energy generation and high voltage inverters. However, the zero-sequence circulating current (ZSCC) between two inverters degrades the whole performance of the system. To suppress the ZSCC in parallel inverters and improve the quality of output current, this study proposes an MPC strategy based on the virtual location vector. First, to reduce the computational burden of MPC, the virtual location vector is constructed by the output current of two inverters so that the control of the parallel inverters is similar to that of a single inverter. Then, the virtual location vector is obtained by using the direct power control method. Finally, the sets of candidate voltage vectors for MPC are determined on the basis of this reference voltage vector and the magnitude of ZSCC. Moreover, the optimal vectors calculated by MPC are assigned to the two inverters. Compared with the traditional MPC strategy, the MPC strategy proposed in this study has better steady state and transient performance with less computational burden. In order to improve autonomous vehicles path-tracking accuracy and stability, a lateral–longitudinal coordination path-tracking control method is proposed. The proposed coordination control consists of path-tracking control and speed tracking control. First, the desired safety speed is planned according to the known road curvature and adhesion coefficient in order to prevent the tire force saturation. Based on the three-degree-of-freedom (3DOF) vehicle dynamic model and the preview tracking error model, model predictive control (MPC) theory is adopted to design the speed-varying vehicle path-tracking controller. Then, the quadratic programming (QP) method is used to solve the objective function with constraints, which calculates the steering angle to control the vehicle track the reference path. In addition, a PID speed controller is designed to calculate the torque of each wheel to track the desired speed. Finally, according to the yaw rate error and the vehicle slip angle error, a yaw moment stability controller based on the fuzzy logic control theory is designed to balance the vehicle stability and motility. The simulation results based on a Matlab/Carsim platform show that the coordination path-tracking control method proposed in this paper can effectively improve the vehicle tracking accuracy and the stability on different roads. The accuracy of real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) is greatly influenced by the inevitable time delay and amplitude error due to the control plant dynamics. Several tracking controllers have been implemented to improve the overall performance, and among them, model predictive control (MPC) loses its prediction advantage due to the characteristic of real-time command calculation of RTHS. In this study, an improved tracking controller based on MPC controller combined with a polynomial-based forward reference prediction (MPC-RP) is proposed according to the principle of providing future data insight. First, the proposed controller is described, and the basic implementation procedure is presented. Then, validation tests were carried out to evaluate the tracking performance of the proposed controller based on the virtual RTHS benchmark problem. The results show that the MPC-RP controller has an effective delay compensation performance and a good amplitude error regulation capacity. Aiming at the current control steady‐state error caused by sampling delay, parameters mismatch of direct‐drive permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). This paper proposed a method of dual model predictive control (MPC) of direct‐drive PMSM based on sliding mode disturbance observer (SMDO). Deadbeat predictive current control (DPCC) is used for current loop, a SMDO is proposed to observe the system disturbance, the estimation is compensated to DPCC by feedback to decrease the current control steady‐state error. For speed loop, MPC with an internal model control observer (IMCO) can observe and compensate the load disturbance feedforward. Electric Solar Wind Sails (E-Sails) are a new type of spacecraft propellantless propulsion system that gathers its energy from solar wind protons and is potentially useful for interplanetary missions. Although optimal interplanetary trajectories have been the subject of thorough research, the substantial variability of the solar wind necessitates the adoption of active guidance strategies, an area that has received significantly less scholarly attention. This paper proposes guidance algorithms for E-Sails based on Model Predictive Control (MPC), a modern control methodology based on online re-planning of the trajectory. To this end, first, properties of E-sail time-optimal orbits are studied applying Pontryagin's Minimum Principle, and then time-optimal orbits for missions to Mars and Jupiter are computed via direct transcription methods. Next, solar wind perturbations are modeled, posing a challenging saturation problem due to their high variability. Guidance strategies based on Shrinking Horizon and Receding Horizon Model Predictive Control (RHMPC) are developed, analyzed and compared using Monte Carlo simulations, successfully implementing MPC to E-sail guidance. This paper aims to establish a new event-triggered model predictive control (MPC) strategy for perturbed nonlinear systems working in a networked environment, which can effectively save the computation and communication resources while ensuring control performance. The core of the framework is a new event-triggered mechanism, which is built by combining the differential and integral (D-I) information of the error between the optimal state and the actual state in a pre-specified time horizon. Based on such a triggering mechanism, a D-I based event-triggered robust MPC algorithm is proposed to stabilise the system and reduce the computation/communication resource consumption. In addition, sufficient conditions to ensure the feasibility and stability of the proposed MPC algorithm and avoid Zeno behaviour are obtained through rigorous theoretical analysis. Aerodynamic forces hold significant promise for controlling small-satellite formations in low Earth orbit. However, significant challenges still exist regarding complex input constraints and their application to multi-satellite formations. This paper proposes a constraint tightening-based control scheme for small-satellite formations, utilizing differential drag and lift as actuating forces. Two attitude adjustment strategies, namely the reorientation strategy and the single-radial rotation strategy, are compared in terms of their control effectiveness and applicability. Relative aerodynamic coefficients are employed as control inputs in view of their solid reachable region, followed by the development of a decoupling algorithm for determining pointing angles. Through a method that tightens the reachable region using liner models, the input constraints are linearized and can be explicitly expressed. Subsequently, an observer-based Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm is formulated to meet these linearized input constraints and provide feedforward compensation for system disturbances. This discrete algorithm enables practical onboard implementations owing to its low computational complexity. Additionally, a concept of overall computation for all satellites' attitudes is proposed to adapt the control scheme for multi-satellite formations. Hardware-in-the-loop simulations are conducted to evaluate the control scheme's performance in along-track and circular formations, accounting for uncertainties in aerodynamic forces and attitude dynamics. In this paper, a new model predictive control termed as intelligent model predictive control (IMPC) combined with an improved new competitive swarm optimizer (CSO) is designed. The analytical predictive model is not necessarily established a priori in the proposed IMPC algorithm, and the control plant can be used directly as the predictive model to reduce the complexity of the algorithm. In addition, two new techniques, dynamic initialization and back steps methods, are proposed and utilized to improve the traditional CSO to realize constraints management during the optimization process. An application to aeroengine transient-state control is studied to verify the effectiveness of the presented IMPC algorithm. It is shown that, benefitting from the IMPC algorithm, the control task is well completed and all the constraints are satisfied. Practical Applications: This paper proposes a new optimization algorithm to solve some complex optimization problems with constraints. The designed new optimization algorithm is simple and easy to implement and it is more suitable for applications with black-box models or complex optimization objective functions compared with some existing optimization algorithms. This paper may provide some help to researchers who are interested in model predictive control or metaheuristic algorithms and to people whose work contains some complex optimization problems. This paper also provides a design method of aeroengine transient-state control plans. The simulation results showed that compared with some existing control methods or optimization algorithms, the aeroengine could accelerate to the desired steady-state point with shorter transient time and all constraints are satisfied when utilizing the proposed new optimization algorithm. The centrosome plays a crucial role in regulating the flow field of a continuous wind tunnel, and its positioning precision directly impacts the control accuracy of the Mach number. A high‐precision positioning control algorithm for the wind tunnel centrosome is proposed based on a model predictive control framework. Since that the centrosome is a typical non‐linear system with a Hammerstein structure comprising an input backlash and a linear dynamic block in series, a parameterized least‐squares identification method is constructed based on an adaptive forgetting factor strategy and a centrosome position prediction model with input backlash is established. To counteract the weakening effect of the backlash non‐linear block on the control signal, a compensator is constructed to compensate for the non‐linear input block. Considering that the input undetectable disturbance signal in the actuator may lead to unpredictable responses, an intermediate state observer is designed and the stable convergence of the observer algorithm is also proved. Finally, the closed‐loop stability of the proposed control algorithm is analyzed by constructing a Lyapunov function. Experimental testing verifies the superiority and applicability of the proposed algorithm. This study proposes a parameterized least‐squares identification method based on an adaptive forgetting factor strategy and establishes a centrosome position prediction model with input backlash. The efficient integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) in buildings is a challenge that can be addressed through the deployment of multienergy microgrids (MGs). In this context, the Interreg SUDOE project IMPROVEMENT was launched at the end of the year 2019 with the aim of developing efficient solutions allowing public buildings with critical loads to be turned into net-zero-energy buildings (nZEBs). The work presented in this paper deals with the development of a predictive energy management system (PEMS) for the management of thermal resources and users' thermal comfort in public buildings. Optimization-based/optimization-free model predictive control (MPC) algorithms are presented and validated in simulations using data collected in a public building equipped with a multienergy MG. Models of the thermal MG components were developed. The strategy currently used in the building relies on proportional–integral–derivative (PID) and rule-based (RB) controllers. The interconnection between the thermal part and the electrical part of the building-integrated MG is managed by taking advantage of the solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation surplus. The optimization-based MPC EMS has the best performance but is rather computationally expensive. The optimization-free MPC EMS is slightly less efficient but has a significantly reduced computational cost, making it the best solution for in situ implementation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents a novel approach for optimizing wind farm control through the utilization of a combined model predictive control method. In contrast to conventional methods of controlling active and reactive power in wind farms, the suggested approach integrates a wind power prediction model driven by a neural network and a state-space model for wind turbines. This combination facilitates a more precise forecast of active power, thereby enabling the dynamic prediction of the range of reactive power output from the wind turbines. When combined with the equation of state in wind farm space, it is possible to accurately optimize the reactive power of a wind farm. Furthermore, the impact of active power on voltage fluctuations in the wind farm collector system was examined. The utilization of model predictive control enhances voltage regulation, optimizes system redundancy, and increases the reactive capacity. Sensitivity coefficients were calculated using analytical methods to enhance computational efficiency and to resolve issues related to convergence. Summary The LC filter integrated quasi‐Z source indirect matrix converter (QZS‐IMC) filters the input voltages and currents while highly expanding voltage boost ratio through the combined QZS network, avoiding the additional input filter while maintaining full‐silicon solution. The traditional proportional‐integral (PI) control method of IMC is realized through the PI regulators with pulse width modulation (PWM), which is complicated due to elaborated vectors computation and duty cycle composition of IMC and extra control loops design is mandatory. This paper proposes a novel learning‐based model predictive control (LMPC) scheme for discrete‐time nonlinear systems. It overcomes the challenge of manually designing the terminal conditions for traditional MPC and enhances the control performance. The scheme employs the value iteration (VI) in reinforcement learning (RL), and autonomously designs the terminal cost by iteratively performing value function learning and policy update under known dynamics and constraints. In contrast to the existing schemes that combine RL with MPC, the proposed scheme explicitly considers the approximation errors in each iteration. Further, a rigorous theoretical analysis is provided, including the convergence of VI, the stability and performance of the closed‐loop system. In addition, the influences of the prediction horizon and the initial terminal cost on performance are also investigated. Simulation results of a linear system verify the theoretical properties of the LMPC and show that it achieves (near‐)optimal performance. Summary: A model predictive cascade controller is proposed in this article to resolve the actuator saturation problem of underwater human‐occupied vehicle (HOV) trajectory tracking. For the kinematic model, a grasshopper optimization‐based model predictive control (MPC) is developed to obtain control velocities with small fluctuations in allowable regions. Based on the desired velocities obtained from the improved kinematic control, the HOV dynamic model is used to generate the corresponding torques and forces using sliding mode control. With the control velocities and forces given by the cascade control strategy, the elimination of actuator saturation during the HOV trajectory tracking can be realized. Model‐based optimization approaches for monitoring and control, such as model predictive control and optimal state and parameter estimation, have been used successfully for decades in many engineering applications. Models describing the dynamics, constraints, and desired performance criteria are fundamental to model‐based approaches. Thanks to recent technological advancements in digitalization, machine‐learning methods such as deep learning, and computing power, there has been an increasing interest in using machine learning methods alongside model‐based approaches for control and estimation. The number of new methods and theoretical findings using machine learning for model‐based control and optimization is increasing rapidly. However, there are no easy‐to‐use, flexible, and freely available open‐source tools that support the development and straightforward solution to these problems. This article outlines the basic ideas and principles behind an easy‐to‐use Python toolbox that allows to solve machine‐learning‐supported optimization, model predictive control, and estimation problems quickly and efficiently. The toolbox leverages state‐of‐the‐art machine learning libraries to train components used to define the problem. Machine learning can be used for a broad spectrum of problems, ranging from model predictive control for stabilization, set point tracking, path following, and trajectory tracking to moving horizon estimation and Kalman filtering. For linear systems, it enables quick generation of code for embedded model predictive control applications. HILO‐MPC is flexible and adaptable, making it especially suitable for research and fundamental development tasks. Due to its simplicity and numerous already implemented examples, it is also a powerful teaching tool. The usability is underlined, presenting a series of application examples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
