[Display omitted] Developing high active and stable cost-effective bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water splitting to produce hydrogen is of vital significance in clean and sustainable energy development. This work has prepared a novel porous unreported MOF (Ni-DPT) as a precursor to successfully synthesize a non-noble bifunctional NiCoP/Ni 12 P 5 @NF electrocatalyst through doping strategy and interface engineering. This catalyst is constructed by layered self-supporting arrays with heterojunction interface and rich nitrogen-phosphorus doping. Structural characterizations and the density function theory (DFT) calculations confirm that the interface effect of NiCoP/Ni 12 P 5 heterojunction can regulate the electronic structure of the catalyst to optimize the Gibbs free energy of hydrogen (ΔG H*); simultaneously, the defect-rich layered nanoarrays can expose more active sites, shorten mass transfer distance, and generate a self-supporting structure for in-situ reinforcing the structural stability. As a result, this NiCoP/Ni 12 P 5 @NF catalyst exhibits favorable electrocatalytic performance, which simply needs overpotentials of 100 mV for HER and 310 mV for OER, respectively, at a current density of 10 mA·cm−2. The anion exchange membrane electrolyzer assembled with this NiCoP/Ni 12 P 5 @NF as both anode and cathode catalysts can operate stably for 200 h at a current density of 100 mA·cm−2 with an insignificant voltage decrease. This work may provide some inspiration for the further rational design of inexpensive non-noble multifunctional electrocatalysts and electrode materials for water splitting to generate hydrogen. Metal–organic framework (MOF)‐based membranes excel in molecular separation, attracting significant research interest. The crystallographic microstructure and selective adsorption capacity of MOFs closely correlate with their gas separation performance. Here, aniline was added to the ZIF‐8 synthesis in varying concentrations. Aniline, encapsulated within ZIF‐8 cavities, interacts strongly with the 2‐methylimidazole linker, resulting in both a shift in crystallographic phase from I_43 m to Cm in Rietveld refinement of X‐ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and the selective adsorption behavior between propylene and propane. Consequently, an aniline decorative ZIF‐8 (Anix‐ZIF‐8) membrane was prepared using a fast current‐driven synthesis method, which exhibits good propylene/propane separation selectivity of up to 85. Calculation of the interaction energy between aniline and the various crystallographic phases of ZIF‐8 using density functional theory (DFT) further verifies that aniline not only promotes the formation of crystallographic Cm phase, but also enhances the adsorption selectivity of propylene over propane. The applications of nanoscale zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF‐8) for antimicrobial drug delivery depend on the aqueous suspension stability of the ZIF‐8 which is influenced by their crystallinity, size, shape, aggregation, and surface chemistry. This study evaluated the stability of ZIF‐8 nanoparticles in terms of their aggregation and sedimentation characteristics. ZIF‐8 nanocomposites were synthesized with methanol via sonication at 30°C for 1 h. The effect of drying methods (oven drying at 80°C, and vacuum drying at 35°C), number of washing steps (0 = no wash, 1, 2, 3), and washing medium (washing with water and ethanol instead of methanol, and redispersion in water and ethanol) on the suspension stability was evaluated. The impact of added xanthan gum (XG) and poly‐L‐lysine (PL) as suspension media was also evaluated. ZIF‐8 nanoparticles were also synthesized using ethanol and suspended in PL. % transmittance and zeta potential were measured for freshly prepared ZIF‐8 suspensions in PL and after freeze‐drying and resuspending in water. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and x‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis were utilized for the assessment of the crystallinity, structure, and morphology of the samples. Antibacterial activity was evaluated by disc diffusion test against Escherichia coli. Dried methanol‐synthesized ZIF‐8 nanoparticles did not suspend in water; only the ZIF‐8 nanoparticles synthesized with reduced washing times and no drying treatment were resuspended in the water, XG and PL solutions. Instead, the ethanol‐synthesized ZIF‐8 nanoparticles were resuspended in water even after being washed three times and dried in a vacuum oven. SEM and TEM images and XRD patterns showed that alcohol can form well‐defined ZIF‐8 nanoparticles. FTIR spectra showed that ZIF‐8 had typical peaks of ZIF‐8 reported by others. Although particle size increased, the PL coating provided a 32.22% increase in zeta potential of ZIF‐8 nanoparticles from 36.25 to 47.93 mV (p < 0.05) and prevented aggregation and sedimentation of the nanoparticles without changing their morphology. All the tested ZIF‐8 nanoparticles showed antibacterial activity with the PL‐coated ZIF‐8 having the highest effect followed by the ZIF‐8 nanoparticles synthesized in ethanol. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The design and construction of stable and inexpensive bifunctional catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) present a challenge in electrocatalytic water splitting. In this study, we utilized zeolitic imidazolate frameworks-8 (ZIF-8) as the precursor to fabricate ZnS-ZIF-8 via facile sulfidation processes. The ZnS-ZIF-8 nanostructures were anchored on the surface of the nickel nanowire (denoted as Ni NWs@ ZnS-ZIF-8 nanocomposite) and their catalytic activity for HER, OER, and overall water splitting were studied. The prepared Ni NWs@ ZnS-ZIF-8 revealed a low overpotentials value of 90 and 260 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for HER and OER in 1.0 M KOH solution, respectively. The alkaline electrolyzer assembled by Ni NWs@ ZnS-ZIF-8 provides a low cell voltage of 1.61 V at 10 mA cm−2 current density to boost the overall water splitting and robust stability for 15 h. The superior electrocatalytic activity of Ni NWs@ ZnS-ZIF-8 is owing to the facile and effective electron transport of Ni NWs, accessible active sites of ZnS-ZIF-8, and as well as the synergistic effect of the nanocomposite structures. This finding presents a viable methodology for synthesizing a proficient noble-metal-free catalyst for energy conversion and storage. Recently, direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) have been regarded as the greatest energy-producing owing to their low operating temperature, high production rate of methanol, and low greenhouse gas emission. However, the energy conversion efficiency of the DMFCs is still unsatisfactory due to the slow kinetics of the fuel oxidation reaction. So, an economic electrocatalyst with high efficiency and good stability is still needed. Herein, low-cost nanocomposites of (Ni/Cu/N) MOF and palm pollen-derived G-graphite were prepared with different ratios namely, (1:1), (1:2), and (2:1) through a solvothermal reaction. The nanocomposites were characterized via X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and, (Brunauer–Emmett–Teller) technique (BET). Electrodes have been tested as electro-catalysts for methanol-oxidation reaction (MOR) in a basic medium. As revealed from the cyclic voltammetry measurements, all electrodes exhibit a good response to MOR, being the nanocomposite with the ratio between (Ni/Cu/N) MOF and G-graphite (2:1) is the best with an oxidation peak current density of 55 mA/cm2 at a scan rate of 50 mV/s, with an onset potential of 0.35 V, and stability reaches 96 %. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) test showed that the ratio (2:1) has the lowest charge transfer resistance, R CT , of 5.21 Ω which confirms its higher electrochemical activity. This superior performance of the (Ni/Cu/N) MOF and G-graphite (2:1) over other reported MOF-based electrocatalysts is attributed to the synergistic effect of the (Ni/Cu/N) MOF electrocatalyst, wherein Ni and Cu provide redox electrocatalytic active sites for MOR while the G-graphite contributes towards the chemical stability and electrical conductivity of the electrode, respectively. Thin-film composite (TFC) membranes containing various fillers and additives present an effective alternative to conventional dense polymer membranes, which often suffer from low permeance (flux) and the permeability–selectivity tradeoff. Alongside the development and utilization of numerous new polymers over the past few decades, diverse additives such as metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), graphene oxides (GOs), and ionic liquids (ILs) have been integrated into the polymer matrix to enhance performance. However, achieving desirable interfacial compatibility between these additives and the host polymer matrix, particularly in TFC structures, remains a significant challenge. This review discusses recent advancements in TFC membranes for CO2/N2 separation, focusing on material structure, polymer–additive interaction, interface and separation properties. Specifically, we examine membranes operating under dry conditions to clearly assess the impact of additives on membrane properties and performance. Food safety issue is becoming an international challenge for human health owing to the presence of contaminants. In this context, reliable, rapid, and sensitive detecting technology is extremely demanded to establish food safety assurance systems. MOFs (Metal-organic frameworks) are a new type of porous crystalline material with particular physical and chemical characteristics presented in food safety requirements. (Bio)sensors driven MOF materials have emerged as a promising alternative and complementary analytical techniques, owing to their great specific area, high porosity, and uniform and fine-tunable pore buildings. Nevertheless, the insufficient stability and electrical conductivity of classical MOFs limit their utilization. Employing graphene-derived nanomaterials with high functional elements as patterns for the MOF materials not only improves the structural instability and poor conductivity but also impedes the restacking and aggregation between graphene layers, thus significantly extending the MOFs application. A review of MOFs-graphene-based material used in food contamination detection is urgently needed for encouraging the advance of this field. Herein, this paper systematically outlines current breakthroughs in MOF-graphene-based nanoprobes, outlines their principles, and illustrates their employments in identifying mycotoxins, heavy metal ions, pathogens, antibiotics, and pesticides, referring to their multiplexing and sensitivity ability. The challenges and limitations of applying MOF-graphene composite for precise and efficient assessment of food were also debated. The Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity (CISS) effect has emerged as a fascinating phenomenon within the realm of electron's spin manipulation, showcasing a unique interplay between electron's spin and molecular chirality. Subsequent to its discovery, researchers have been actively involved in exploring the new chiral molecules as effective spin filters. In the realm of observing the CISS effect, the conventional approach has mandated the utilization of two distinct enantiomers of chiral molecules. However, this present study represents a significant advancement by demonstrating the ability to control both spin states of electrons in a single system. In this work, we have demonstrated the preparation of chiral metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) via a “spontaneous resolution” process, obviating the requirement for chiral sources. This resulted in the production of chiral crystals exhibiting opposite handedness (1P and 1M) and these crystals were subsequently employed as a new class of spin filters based on CISS effect. Remarkably, this work signifies the first instance of achieving dual signature of spin selectivity from a single and exclusively achiral system through a spontaneous resolution process. This holds immense potential as it facilitates the production of two distinct spin‐filtering materials from a unified system. Furthermore, we investigated the contact potential differences (CPD) of these chiral crystals and, for the first time, associated it with the preferential spin transport properties. Our findings revealed a correlation between the CPD and the chirality of the crystals, as well as the magnetization orientations of the ferromagnetic substrate, which can be elucidated by the CISS effect. In overall, the significant findings achieved using these robust and easily synthesized MOF crystals without the requirement for chiral medium represent a crucial advancement in enhancing the effectiveness of spin filtering materials to produce spintronic devices. Li─O2 batteries (LOBs) have the largest theoretical capacity among current batteries, but the irreversible growth and decomposition of Li2O2 products in positive electrodes cause dramatic degradation of their capacities over charging–discharging cycles. Herein, a metal–organic framework is reported with bipyridinic N linkers attached to graphene (bpyN‐MOF/g) as a positive electrode material to overcome the challenge. The bpyN‐MOF/g promotes conformal Li2O2 growth during discharging, while allowing Li2O2 decomposition at a low overpotential (0.487 V vs Li+/Li at 200 mA gc−1) during charging process, outperforming the Pt/C‐based electrode (0.857 V). Moreover, 3D‐tomography and density functional theory calculations consistently support the Li2O2 growth and decomposition mechanism inside bpyN‐MOF/g. Furthermore, bpyN‐MOF/g//Li LOBs achieve an exceptional discharge capacity (17 275 mAh gc−1 at 100 mA gc−1) and steady cycling for 270 cycles at 1000 mAh gc−1 under 2000 mA gc−1. Additionally, high gravimetric capacity at low mass loadings (0.27–0.44 mg cm−2) and stable cycle operation at a high areal current density (0.5 mA cm−2) open new opportunities for various practical applications. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) are robust, crystalline, and porous materials featured by their superior CO2 adsorption capacity, tunable energy band structure, and enhanced photovoltaic conversion efficiency, making them highly promising for photocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (PCO2RR). This study presents a comprehensive examination of the advancements in MOFs‐based PCO2RR field spanning the period from 2011 to 2023. Employing bibliometric analysis, the paper scrutinizes the widely adopted terminology and citation patterns, elucidating trends in publication, leading research entities, and the thematic evolution within the field. The findings highlight a period of rapid expansion and increasing interdisciplinary integration, with extensive international and institutional collaboration. A notable emphasis on significant research clusters and key terminologies identified through co‐occurrence network analysis, highlighting predominant research on MOFs such as UiO, MIL, ZIF, porphyrin‐based MOFs, their composites, and the hybridization with photosensitizers and molecular catalysts. Furthermore, prospective design approaches for catalysts are explored, encompassing single‐atom catalysts (SACs), interfacial interaction enhancement, novel MOF constructions, biocatalysis, etc. It also delves into potential avenues for scaling these materials from the laboratory to industrial applications, underlining the primary technical challenges that need to be overcome to facilitate the broader application and development of MOFs‐based PCO2RR technologies. The preparation of samples for instrumental analysis is the most essential and time-consuming stage of the entire analytical process; it also has the greatest impact on the analysis results. Concentrating the sample, changing its matrix, and removing interferents are often necessary. Techniques for preparing samples for analysis are constantly being developed and modified to meet new challenges, facilitate work, and enable the determination of analytes in the most comprehensive concentration range possible. This paper focuses on using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as sorbents in the most popular techniques for preparing liquid samples for analysis, based on liquid-solid extraction. An increase in interest in MOFs-type materials has been observed for about 20 years, mainly due to their sorption properties, resulting, among others, from the high specific surface area, tunable pore size, and the theoretically wide possibility of their modification. This paper presents certain advantages and disadvantages of the most popular sample preparation techniques based on liquid-solid extraction, the newest trends in the application of MOFs as sorbents in those techniques, and, most importantly, presents the reader with a summary, which a specific technique and MOF for the desired application. With the development of the nuclear industry，radioactive iodine has been identified as one of the most dangerous nuclear waste materials. The adsorption of radioactive iodine waste gas is also important for reducing nuclear pollution. Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are a kind of porous crystal material formed by the self-assembly and interconnection of inorganic metal centers (such as metal ions or metal clusters) and bridged organic ligands. Due to their porosity and high specific surface area，MOFs are considered as ideal iodine adsorption materials. This article mainly reviews the research progress of MOFs materials in the field of iodine adsorption. Firstly，it briefly discusses the progress of different metal-centered MOFs in iodine adsorption in recent years. Secondly，it explores the adsorption capacity of MOFs composite materials for radioactive iodine. Finally，it looks forward to the future development trend of efficient radioactive iodine adsorption MOFs materials.

The special core–shell sample with the analogous mixture of MIL-125 and MIL-125-NH 2 function formed via ligand-defect reassembly as an efficient dual-functional photocatalyst for hydrogen production and NO removal. [Display omitted] The core–shell structure often exhibits unique properties, resulting in superior physical and chemical performance distinct from individual component in the field of photocatalysis. However, traditional prepared methods such as template synthesis and layer-by-layer self-assembly are relatively complex. Therefore, it is necessary to explore an efficient and expedient approach. Here, we have proposed a convenient method to gradually destroy the terephthalic acid (BDC) of MIL-125 from the outer to inner layers through hydrothermal stirring, followed by reassembling with photosensitive 2-amino-terephthalic acid (BDC-NH 2) into the exposed Ti-oxo clusters left by the BDC to create photocatalysts featuring a core–shell configuration. The special core–shell sample with the analogous mixture of MIL-125 and MIL-125-NH 2 function as a high-performance dual-functional photocatalyst for hydrogen generation and NO elimination. The optimal core–shell material (M-125-45-N) exhibits an outstanding photocatalytic hydrogen production rate of 3.74 mmol·g−1·h−1 and an excellent photocatalytic NO removal rate of 70.15 %. The apparent quantum yield (AQY) value and solar-to-hydrogen energy conversion efficiency (STH) at specific wavelengths are also investigated. The Density functional theory (DFT) calculation, In-situ Fourier transform infrared (In-situ FT-IR) and Electron spin resonance (ESR) have suggested that the enhanced photocatalytic activity of optimal core–shell material arised from its stronger adsorption capacity towards reactants, promoting the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) conducive to photocatalytic reactions. This study represents the first investigation of a dual functional core–shell MOFs formed via ligand-defect reassembly, showcasing the excellent efficacy in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and NO removal, which contributes to the feasible development of novel dual-functional photocatalysts with core–shell structures. [Display omitted] • A novel N,S co-doped carbon encapsulated Co 2 P anchored on MXene was fabricated. • The MZPC-9 catalyst exhibited excellent BPA removal (TOF/PMS = 291 L2 min−1 g−2). • The electron transfer-process (ETP) was the dominated reactive pathway. • The ETP-induced polymerization pathway of BPA was elucidated. The non-radical pathway dominated by the electron transfer process (ETP) has gained considerable attention for the removal of organic contaminants in persulfate-based advanced oxidation processes. Rationally designing new catalysts with optimized composition and structural merits and further elucidating the enhanced removal mechanism are of great importance. In this work, we successfully synthesized a nitrogen-sulfur co-doped carbon encapsulated cobalt phosphide (Co 2 P) on both sides of MXene nanosheets (MZPC) to degrade bisphenol A (BPA) from organic wastewater. The results indicated that BPA was degraded by 98.2 % in a mere 5 min using 0.1 g L-1 of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) and 0.05 g L-1 of the optimized catalyst (MZPC-9), exhibiting an excellent pseudo-first-order kinetics rate constant (k = 1.485 min−1). Uniformly dispersed Co 2 P nanoparticles (approximately 9.4 nm, calculated using the Scherrer equation) on both sides of MXene exhibited enhanced binding affinity with PMS, forming the MZPC-9-PMS* metastable complexes with potent oxidative capability. The resultant MZPC-9-PMS* complexes induced the polymerization reaction of BPA and achieved 81 % total organic carbon (TOC) removal. Cancer treatment has witnessed the emergence of innovative stimuli-responsive nanotherapeutics aiming to overcome limitations associated with traditional drug delivery systems. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), a subset of inorganic nanomaterials, are known for their porous structures and versatile applications in integrated cancer diagnosis and therapy. Their noteworthy features include customizable porosity, diverse chemical configurations, adjustable sizes and shapes, and the potential for surface functionalization. The study delved into conventional cancer therapies, provided an overview of MOFs, and discussed various MOF synthesis approaches. Furthermore, this review explored the development of stimuli-responsive MOFs to enhance targeted drug delivery and bioimaging, improving the overall efficacy of cancer treatment, and investigated the applications of stimuli-responsive multifunctional MOFs in nanostructures activated by factors influencing precise drug delivery and bioimaging in cancers. pH, light, ions, temperature, magnetic field, redox reactions, and ATP contribute to the precise control of drug delivery and bioimaging processes. Designed multifunctional MOFs exhibit characteristic changes in response to external and internal stimuli, proving advantageous for drug release and bioimaging. Surface-modified MOFs with responsive features demonstrate excellent biocompatibility with noncancerous cells, efficient drug-loading capabilities, and nanocarrier-mediated targeted drug delivery to cancerous cells. Therefore, the innovative strategy of inorganic nanoscale MOFs with responsive properties holds significant promise for targeted therapeutic drug delivery and imaging across diverse malignancies. The growing interest in stimuli-activated MOFs will open new opportunities in cancer theragnostic applications.

Abstract The exclusion mechanism of food contaminants such as bisphenol A (BPA), Flavonoids (FLA), and Goitrin (GOI) onto the novel gallium–metal organic framework (MOF) and functionalized MOF with oxalamide group (MOF-OX) is evaluated by utilizing molecular dynamics (MD) and Metadynamics simulations. The atoms in molecules (AIM) analysis detected different types of atomic interactions between contaminant molecules and substrates. To assess this procedure, a range of descriptors including interaction energies, root mean square displacement, radial distribution function (RDF), density, hydrogen bond count (HB), and contact numbers are examined across the simulation trajectories. The most important elements in the stability of the systems under examination are found to be stacking π–π and HB interactions. It was confirmed by a significant value of total interaction energy for BPA/MOF-OX (− 338.21 kJ mol−1) and BPA/MOF (− 389.95 kJ mol−1) complexes. Evaluation of interaction energies reveals that L–J interaction plays an essential role in the adsorption of food contaminants on the substrates. The free energy values for the stability systems of BPA/MOF and BPA/MOF-OX complexes at their global minima reached about BPA/MOF = − 254.29 kJ mol−1 and BPA/MOF-OX = − 187.62 kJ mol−1, respectively. Nevertheless, this work provides a new strategy for the preparation of a new hierarchical tree-dimensional of the Ga-MOF hybrid material for the adsorption and exclusion of food contaminates and their effect on human health.

Detecting and removing pesticide and veterinary drug residues in agricultural products are important for ensuring food safety. Current methods for detecting pesticide residues are mainly relied on sophisticated instruments, which require long detection time and skilled operators, limiting their accessibility. Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are a hybrid material composed of metal ions/clusters and organic ligands. MOFs possess multiple functions such as adsorption enrichment, catalytic degradation, and fluorescent and electrochemical signal generation. Therefore, MOFs have great potential in rapidly detecting and removing pesticide and veterinary drug residues. This review introduces functionalities of MOFs: Enrichment and removal, catalytic degradation, fluorescence sensing, and electrochemical sensing, and then summarizes their applications for rapid detecting and removing pesticide and veterinary drug residues. Additionally, this article comprehensively analyzes the advantages and disadvantages about combining RGB analysis and portable monitoring devices with MOFs. This paper reports on a scientometric analysis bolstered by human-in-the-loop, domain experts, to examine the field of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) research. Scientometric analyses reveal the intellectual landscape of a field. The study engaged MOF scientists in the design and review of our research workflow. MOF materials are an essential component in next-generation renewable energy storage and biomedical technologies. The research approach demonstrates how engaging experts, via human-in-the-loop processes, can help develop a comprehensive view of a field’s research trends, influential works, and specialized topics.

Abstract In the paper, high specific surface area (SSA) mono and bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) based on zinc and cobalt metals are successfully synthesized at room temperature using different ratios of Zn to Co salts as precursors and ammonium as a solvent to tailor the properties of the produced ZIF and optimize the efficiency of the particles in water treatment from dye and copper ions, simultaneously. The results declare that monometallic and bimetallic ZIF microparticles are formed using ammonium and the tuning of pore sizes and also increasing the SSA by inserting the Co ions in Zn-ZIF particles is accessible. It leads to a significant increase in the thermal stability of bimetallic Zn/Co-ZIF and the appearance of an absorption band in the visible region due to the existence of Co in the bimetallic structures. The bandgap energies of bimetallic ZIFs are close to that of the monometallic Co-ZIF-8, indicating controlling the bandgap by Co ZIF. Furthermore, the ZIFs samples are applied for water treatment from copper ions (10 and 184 ppm) and methylene blue (10 ppm) under visible irradiation and the optimized multifunctional bimetallic Zn/Co ZIF is introduced as an admirable candidate for water treatment even in acidic conditions.

The two CeIV MOFs [Ce6O4(OH)4(TzTz)6] (Ce_TzTz) and [Ce6O4(OH)4(TzTz)4(PyPy)2] (Ce_TzTz_PyPy; H2TzTz = [2,2′‐bithiazole]‐5,5′‐dicarboxylic acid, H2PyPy = 2,2′‐bipyridine‐5,5′‐dicarboxylic acid) are prepared starting from a pre‐formed [Ce6] glycinate‐capped cluster. N2 isotherms collected at 77 K revealed BET specific surface areas of 1136 and 238 m2 g−1, respectively. Their CO2 and N2O adsorption capacity is assessed at T = 273 and 298 K and p = 1 bar. Ce_TzTz shows the highest gas uptake (7.9 and 9.7 wt% at 298 K and 11.5 and 12.5 wt% at 273 K for CO2 and N2O, respectively). More interestingly, this homo‐linker MOF possesses a higher capacity, thermodynamic affinity [(Qst)CO2 = 18.2 kJ mol−1 vs (Qst)N2O = 25.4 kJ mol−1] and selectivity (IAST SN2O/CO2 = 1.6 at T = 273 K) toward N2O than the mixed‐linker sample. At variance, Ce_TzTz_PyPy shows a slightly higher capacity, thermodinamic affinity [(Qst)CO2 = 29.5 kJ mol−1 vs (Qst)N2O = 26.4 kJ mol−1] and selectivity (IAST SCO2/N2O = 1.4 at T = 298 K) toward CO2. DFT optimizations carried out on the [N2O@Ce_TzTz] and [CO2@Ce_TzTz_PyPy] systems revealed that the primary adsorption sites are the cerium ions of the [Ce6] metallic node for N2O and the thiazole N‐atoms on the TzTz linker for CO2, respectively. Magnetocaloric materials have the ability to undergo temperature changes when subjected to varying magnetic fields. These materials are of interest due to their potential for innovative cooling applications. This review article summarizes materials that exhibit magnetic ordering within the temperature range required for gas liquefaction and explores their potential applications through the magnetocaloric effect (MCE). The gas liquefaction temperature range is typically assumed to be 20–77 K, however, this study specifically summarizes materials that have a transition temperature near to the hydrogen liquefaction temperature (≈20K). This review article aims to showcase ongoing research on magnetic materials for hydrogen liquefaction. Driven by the depletion of natural resources and environmental concerns, the search for environmentally sustainable fuels has intensified, making hydrogen a promising alternative. However, the liquefaction of hydrogen is highly energy‐intensive. The investigation focuses on identifying and understanding these materials and assessing their suitability for environmentally friendly and sustainable cooling technologies. By harnessing the magnetocaloric effect, these materials exhibit temperature changes in response to an applied magnetic field, offering advantages over traditional cooling methods that are 20–50% more efficient. Cancer treatment has witnessed the emergence of innovative stimuli-responsive nanotherapeutics aiming to overcome limitations associated with traditional drug delivery systems. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), a subset of inorganic nanomaterials, are known for their porous structures and versatile applications in integrated cancer diagnosis and therapy. Their noteworthy features include customizable porosity, diverse chemical configurations, adjustable sizes and shapes, and the potential for surface functionalization. The study delved into conventional cancer therapies, provided an overview of MOFs, and discussed various MOF synthesis approaches. Furthermore, this review explored the development of stimuli-responsive MOFs to enhance targeted drug delivery and bioimaging, improving the overall efficacy of cancer treatment, and investigated the applications of stimuli-responsive multifunctional MOFs in nanostructures activated by factors influencing precise drug delivery and bioimaging in cancers. pH, light, ions, temperature, magnetic field, redox reactions, and ATP contribute to the precise control of drug delivery and bioimaging processes. Designed multifunctional MOFs exhibit characteristic changes in response to external and internal stimuli, proving advantageous for drug release and bioimaging. Surface-modified MOFs with responsive features demonstrate excellent biocompatibility with noncancerous cells, efficient drug-loading capabilities, and nanocarrier-mediated targeted drug delivery to cancerous cells. Wastewater treatment is designed to eradicate toxic pollutants emanating from the industrial effluent to the surface and underground water. The efficiency and limitations of most of the existing water treatment techniques such as coagulation/flocculation, photocatalysis, membrane technologies and adsorption in the remediation of toxic pollutants have been established. However, the success reported for each of these techniques is usually associated with the efficiency and environmental friendliness of water treatment products applied. MOFs-based products are one of the materials serving as an alternative to chemically synthesized products, and their application as water treatment products has been reported extensively but not systematically documented. In this review, authors endeavoured to comprehensively provide insights into the recent MOFs-based product synthesis for different applications, especially in water treatment. The key factors influencing the synthesis of MOFs, including choice of metal ions, organic linkers, and synthesis conditions, along with the latest developments in scalable and cost-effective fabrication techniques are discussed. The synthesis routes, their limitation and their performances as an adsorbent, photocatalyst and additives in membrane fabrication in the removal of toxic pollutants from water are elaborated. The prospects in the large-scale production of MOFs-based water treatment products for real industrial applications are critically reviewed in this study. In this study, the thermodynamics and kinetics of U(VI) adsorption and removal on MIL-101(Fe, Cu)/GO from wastewater were studied. The effects of pH, contact time, initial concentration and adsorption temperature were systematically studied. The results showed an effective U(VI) adsorption capacity of the MOF. The adsorption of U(VI) was analyzed by using different isotherms as well as various kinetics models. The results showed that Langmuir adsorption isotherm and quasi-second-order kinetic model were followed by the adsorption of U(VI) on MIL-101(Fe, Cu)/GO. Thermodynamic studies (ΔG < 0, ΔH < 0) demonstrated that the adsorption process is exothermic and spontaneous. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of porous materials based on the strong coordinated bonds between inorganic secondary building units (SBUs) and organic linkers to form high-porosity periodic structures. MOFs with tunable pore size, shape, and catalysis active sites recently sparked recognition interest for the design and synthesis of catalysts with the capability to decompose aromatic-based VOCs. In this review, we introduce our viewpoints for the design and synthesis of better MOF-based photocatalysts including (i) methods to enhance the interaction of aromatic-based VOCs with MOFs by controlling micropore size, tuning Lewis acidity of the metal SBUs and/or using linkers bearing electron withdrawal groups; (ii) methods to enhance adsorption/diffusion by synthesizing hierarchical MOFs through defect control, reticular structural design and/or employing the xerogel monoliths to exploit the mesopore between particles for enhancing the adsorption/diffusion; (iii) methods to optimize the band gap by selecting appropriate building block and/or doping with exotic components. Alongside that, design principles and strategies for the development of MOF-based catalysts for thermal decomposition of aromatic-based VOCs are also provided such as (i) the need to improve the thermal stability at high temperature together with a slit pore architecture connected by small windows to prevent the aggregation of active components; and (ii) methods to control the distribution and type of active components in the MOFs' matrix to alter their catalysis performance. We expect our discussion and viewpoints on the design and synthesis of MOFs and MOF-based composites to inspire researchers to design better and more efficient systems for aromatic-based VOC decomposition. Herein, a series of monometallic Ni‐, Co‐ and Zn‐MOFs and bimetallic NiCo‐, NiZn‐ and CoZn‐MOFs of formula M2(BDC)2DABCO and (M,M')2(BDC)2DABCO, respectively, (M, M'=metal) with the same pillar and layer linkers 1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) and benzene‐1,4‐dicarboxylate (BDC) were prepared through a fast microwave‐assisted thermal conversion synthesis method (MW) within only 12 min. In the bimetallic MOFs the ratio M:M' was 4 : 1. The mono‐ and bimetallic MOFs were selected to systematically explore the catalytic‐activity of their derived metal oxide/hydroxides for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Among all tested bimetallic MOF‐derived catalysts, the NiCoMOF exhibits superior catalytic activity for the OER with the lowest overpotentials of 301 mV and Tafel slopes of 42 mV dec−1 on a rotating disk glassy carbon electrode (RD‐GCE) in 1 mol L−1 KOH electrolyte at a current density of 10 mA cm−2. In addition, NiCoMOF was insitu grown in just 25 min by the MW synthesis on the surface of nickel foam (NF) with, for example, a mass loading of 16.6 mgMOF/gNF, where overpotentials of 313 and 328 mV at current densities of 50 and 300 mA cm−2, respectively, were delivered and superior long‐term stability for practical OER application. The low Tafel slope of 27 mV dec−1, as well as a low reaction resistance from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurement (Rfar=2 Ω), confirm the excellent OER performance of this NiCoMOF/NF composite. During the electrocatalytic processes or even before upon KOH pre‐treatment, the MOFs are transformed to the mixed‐metal hydroxide phase α‐/β‐M(OH)2 which presents the active species in the reactions (turnover frequency TOF=0.252 s−1 at an overpotential of 320 mV). Compared to the TOF from β‐M(OH)2 (0.002 s−1), our study demonstrates that a bimetallic MOF improves the electrocatalytic performance of the derived catalyst by giving an intimate and uniform mixture of the involved metals at the nanoscale. Detecting and removing pesticide and veterinary drug residues in agricultural products are important for ensuring food safety. Current methods for detecting pesticide residues are mainly relied on sophisticated instruments, which require long detection time and skilled operators, limiting their accessibility. Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are a hybrid material composed of metal ions/clusters and organic ligands. MOFs possess multiple functions such as adsorption enrichment, catalytic degradation, and fluorescent and electrochemical signal generation. Therefore, MOFs have great potential in rapidly detecting and removing pesticide and veterinary drug residues. This review introduces functionalities of MOFs: Enrichment and removal, catalytic degradation, fluorescence sensing, and electrochemical sensing, and then summarizes their applications for rapid detecting and removing pesticide and veterinary drug residues. Additionally, this article comprehensively analyzes the advantages and disadvantages about combining RGB analysis and portable monitoring devices with MOFs. Also, the challenges of applying MOFs to detecting and removing pesticide and veterinary drug residue are discussed. The exclusion mechanism of food contaminants such as bisphenol A (BPA), Flavonoids (FLA), and Goitrin (GOI) onto the novel gallium–metal organic framework (MOF) and functionalized MOF with oxalamide group (MOF-OX) is evaluated by utilizing molecular dynamics (MD) and Metadynamics simulations. The atoms in molecules (AIM) analysis detected different types of atomic interactions between contaminant molecules and substrates. To assess this procedure, a range of descriptors including interaction energies, root mean square displacement, radial distribution function (RDF), density, hydrogen bond count (HB), and contact numbers are examined across the simulation trajectories. The most important elements in the stability of the systems under examination are found to be stacking π–π and HB interactions. It was confirmed by a significant value of total interaction energy for BPA/MOF-OX (− 338.21 kJ mol−1) and BPA/MOF (− 389.95 kJ mol−1) complexes. Evaluation of interaction energies reveals that L–J interaction plays an essential role in the adsorption of food contaminants on the substrates. The free energy values for the stability systems of BPA/MOF and BPA/MOF-OX complexes at their global minima reached about BPA/MOF = − 254.29 kJ mol−1 and BPA/MOF-OX = − 187.62 kJ mol−1, respectively. Nevertheless, this work provides a new strategy for the preparation of a new hierarchical tree-dimensional of the Ga-MOF hybrid material for the adsorption and exclusion of food contaminates and their effect on human health. Because of their special qualities, metal-organic frameworks, or MOFs, have drawn a lot of interest for their potential in chemiresistive ethanol sensing. Three distinct MOF materials Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6, Zr6O4(OH)4TPA6, and Zr6O4(OH)4NDCA6 were thoroughly examined and fabricated in this work to determine which was most appropriate for use in ethanol sensing applications. According to Tauc plot analysis, Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6 had the lowest optical band gap energy, 3.79 eV. FTIR spectroscopy further showed the various vibrational modes in each MOF, with Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6, exhibiting peculiar absorption peaks at 488 and 767 cm− 1. Dynamic light scattering provided information on Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6 particle size distribution. Moreover, Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6 demonstrated remarkable sensitivity in chemiresistive ethanol sensing, as it continuously had the strongest sensor response at various ethanol concentrations. Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6 was found to have the lowest limit of detection (8.69 ppm) in LOD study, indicating that it is very sensitive to ethanol. Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6 was shown to be the most selective for ethanol based on selectivity testing. Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6 exhibited the fastest response time and most effective recovery, as seen by their response and recovery times. These results offer important new understandings of the properties and functionality of MOFs for chemiresistive ethanol sensing, with Zr6O4(OH)4(TPA-NH2)6 showing great promise. The solvothermal synthesis of LnCl3.nH2O with terephthalic acid (benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid, H2BDC) produced metal–organic frameworks (LnBDC), [Ln2(BDC)3(H2O)4]∞, where Ln = Sm, Eu, Tb, and Dy. The materials obtained were characterized by a number of physico-chemical techniques. The influence of the ionic radius of the lanthanides on the microstructural characteristics of the Ln-MOFs was evaluated by performing Rietveld refinement. The MOFs obtained were tested as fluorescent sensors for numerous cations and anions in water. The highly luminescent EuBDC and TbBDC demonstrated multi-responsive luminescence sensing functions to detect Ag(I), Fe(III), Cr(III), and Cr(VI), which are essential for their environmental applications. By applying the non-linear Stern–Volmer equation, the fluorescent quenching mechanism was determined. Semiochemicals can be used to manipulate insect behaviour for sustainable pest management strategies, but their high volatility is a major issue for their practical implementation. Inclusion of these molecules within porous materials is a potential solution to this issue, as it can allow for a slower and more controlled release. In this work, we demonstrate that a series of Zr(IV) and Al(III) metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) with channel‐type pores enable controlled release of three semiochemicals over 100 days by pore size design, with the uptake and rate of release highly dependent on the pore size. Insight from grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations indicates that this is due to weaker MOF‐guest interactions per guest molecule as the pore size increases. These MOFs are all stable post‐release and can be reloaded to show near‐identical re‐release profiles. These results provide valuable insight on the diffusion behaviour of volatile guests in MOFs, and for the further development of porous materials for sustainable agriculture applications. To achieve sustainable desalination and water purification, solar interface evaporation technology is an effective means due to its high energy efficiency. Reasonable photothermal conversion materials and surface design are crucial for the interfacial solar evaporation process. How to design water transport routes and thermal insulating layers simultaneously is one of the major challenges to solar interface evaporation technology today. Herein, this work reports an arch-shaped wood evaporator (pine@carbon black (CB)-metal-organic framework-801 (MOF-801)-36%) for efficient, fast and continuous interfacial solar evaporation, which is composed of an arch-shaped wood substrate, MOF-801, and CB as a light absorption layer. The arch-shaped structure has a double-sided evaporation effect, which has a synergistic effect on augmenting solar evaporation efficiency. In addition, the in-situ growth of MOF-801 in pretreated wood microchannels renders the wood evaporator a significant function of reducing the equivalent enthalpy of evaporation due to the reduction of the hydrogen bonding density of water molecules as they pass through the wood channels. The best evaporation rate of the arch-shaped wood evaporator can reach 2.535 kg·m−2·h−1, and the efficiency reaches 93.7% under the irradiation of 1 sun illumination. Notably, it could be used for desalination and wastewater treatment to collect fresh water that meets drinking requirements set by the World Health Organization (WHO). ABSTRACT The applications of nanoscale zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF‐8) for antimicrobial drug delivery depend on the aqueous suspension stability of the ZIF‐8 which is influenced by their crystallinity, size, shape, aggregation, and surface chemistry. This study evaluated the stability of ZIF‐8 nanoparticles in terms of their aggregation and sedimentation characteristics. ZIF‐8 nanocomposites were synthesized with methanol via sonication at 30°C for 1 h. The effect of drying methods (oven drying at 80°C, and vacuum drying at 35°C), number of washing steps (0 = no wash, 1, 2, 3), and washing medium (washing with water and ethanol instead of methanol, and redispersion in water and ethanol) on the suspension stability was evaluated. The impact of added xanthan gum (XG) and poly‐L‐lysine (PL) as suspension media was also evaluated. ZIF‐8 nanoparticles were also synthesized using ethanol and suspended in PL. % transmittance and zeta potential were measured for freshly prepared ZIF‐8 suspensions in PL and after freeze‐drying and resuspending in water. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and x‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis were utilized for the assessment of the crystallinity, structure, and morphology of the samples. Antibacterial activity was evaluated by disc diffusion test against Escherichia coli. Dried methanol‐synthesized ZIF‐8 nanoparticles did not suspend in water; only the ZIF‐8 nanoparticles synthesized with reduced washing times and no drying treatment were resuspended in the water, XG and PL solutions. Instead, the ethanol‐synthesized ZIF‐8 nanoparticles were resuspended in water even after being washed three times and dried in a vacuum oven. SEM and TEM images and XRD patterns showed that alcohol can form well‐defined ZIF‐8 nanoparticles. FTIR spectra showed that ZIF‐8 had typical peaks of ZIF‐8 reported by others. Pathogenic bacteria pose significant threats to public health. Early and accurate detection of bacteria is crucial for infection control and prevention of outbreaks. This paper reviews recent advances in metal organic framework (MOF)-based methods for bacterial detection. MOFs are promising materials for biosensing due to their large surface areas, customizable properties, and ability to integrate various sensing capabilities. Several colorimetric and electrochemical detection techniques that utilize MOFs are discussed. Colorimetric assays combining MOFs with gold nanoparticles, peroxidase-mimicking activity, and aptamer recognition have achieved sensitive and specific detection of bacteria such as E. coli and S. aureus. Electrochemical biosensors integrating MOFs, antibodies, aptamers and quantum dots have also demonstrated low detection limits for various bacteria. Notably, techniques using MOF peroxidase-like activity coupled with magnetic separation or competitive binding assays show potential for point-of-care pathogen detection. Furthermore, optimization of MOF properties and integration within microfluidic platforms may lead to portable, low-cost and rapid methods suitable for on-site bacterial analysis in diverse settings. Continued exploration of MOF-based sensing strategies holds promise for improved bacteria monitoring and control of infectious diseases.

Accordingly, in this report, metal-organic frameworks based on titanium with acetic acid pending were designed and synthesized via post-modification method. The structure of the target catalyst has been investigated using different techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, SEM, EDX, Mapping, and N2 adsorption/desorption (BET/the BJH) the correctness of its formation has been proven. The catalytic application of Ti-based MOFs functionalized with acetic acid was evaluated in the preparation of new spiropyrans, and the obtained results show that the catalytic performance is improved by this modification. The strategy of designing heterogeneous porous catalysts through post-modification methods presents a sophisticated approach to enhancing the catalytic efficacy of desired catalysts. In this context, our study focuses on the synthesis and characterization of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) based on titanium, functionalized with acetic acid pendants, using a post-modification method. Various characterization techniques, including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), mapping, and N2 adsorption/desorption (BET/BJH), were employed to investigate the structure and composition of the synthesized catalyst. These techniques collectively confirmed the successful formation and structural integrity of the target catalyst. The structure of the synthesized products was confirmed by melting point, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR and FT-IR techniques. Examining the general process of catalyst synthesis and its catalytic application shows that the mentioned modification is very useful for catalytic purposes. The presented catalyst was used in synthesis of a wide range of biologically active spiropyrans with good yields. The simultaneous presence of several biologically active cores in the synthesized products will highlight the biological properties of these compounds. The present study offers a promising insight into the rational design, synthesis, and application of task-specific porous catalysts, particularly in the context of synthesizing biologically active candidate molecules.

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been the subject of extensive scientific investigation in the last three decades and, currently, they make up one of the types of compounds most studied for their potential application in a wide range of distinct catalytic processes. Pristine MOF compounds provide several intriguing benefits for catalytic applications, including large interior surface areas and high densities of active sites; high catalytic reaction rates per volume; post-synthesis modifications with complementary catalytic groups; and the ability for multiple functional groups to catalyze the reaction. For most large-scale catalytic applications, including those in fuel processing, gas emission reduction, and chemical synthesis, pristine MOFs often show limited stabilities and opportunities for regeneration at high temperatures. As a result, the real applications of MOFs in these technologies are likely to be constrained, and a controlled thermal modification to prepare MOF-derivative compounds has been applied to induce crystalline structural changes and increase the structural stability of the MOFs, enhancing their potential applicability in more severe catalytic processes. Recent advances concerning the use of this strategy to boost the catalytic potential of MOF-derivative compounds, particularly for stable Zr-based MOFs, are outlined in this short review article.

Due to the increasingly severe global warming trend, the reduction of CO2 emission and carbon capture have attracted growing interest. The separation of CO2 from gas mixtures, especially from point source and the atmosphere, is considered as one of the most important strategies for mitigating climate change. Porous metal–organic nanomaterials (PNMs), including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and metal-organic polyhedra (MOPs) have been extensively investigated in the fields of carbon capture, catalysts, sensors, biomedical imaging and gas storage. Their inherent pores, diverse surface function groups and potential modification possiblities make them competitive carbon capture materials. This review will introduce detailed scientific and technological advancements in PNMs and explain their fitness for carbon capture and separation, followed by the fabrication and application of mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) with PNMs. The current challenges appreared and solutions to improve the MMMs’ CO2 separation performance will also be stressed.

The presence of dyes in wastewater poses a significant environmental challenge due to their permanence toxicity and potential to harm ecosystems. Because of their high porosity and adjustable characteristics, metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have become attractive materials for effective dye removal. Among various MOFs, zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) have garnered significant attention, especially ZIF‐8, for its excellent stability, significant porosity, adjustable pore size and remarkable adsorption capacity. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of recent advances in the implementation of ZIF‐8 and its composites for the removal of pollutants from wastewater. The various synthesis methods, structural characteristics and dye adsorption performance of ZIF‐8 and its composites are discussed. Furthermore, impact of the different factors such as pH, temperature, dye concentration, contact time etc. were also highlighted. Moreover, the detailed adsorption mechanism was also discussed. Finally, the current challenges and future perspectives in the production of materials based on ZIF‐8 for the removal of dyes were also presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Optoelectronics and photocatalysis are two rapidly developing photonic fields that are revolutionizing green energy, medicine, communications, and robotics. To advance these areas and explore new applications, there is a need for new materials and technologies that enable fast, scalable, and customizable production of high‐performing optoelectronics, including the future development of flexible devices. This review is focused on the strategies to synthesize novel, not fully explored materials and/or enhance their properties using the powerful method of laser processing. The discussion includes the laser treatment of MXenes, Metal‐Organic Frameworks, and perovskites, materials' advantages in terms of structural, electronic, and optical properties, and the role of different laser‐based techniques in boosting their performance. Additionally, there is a demonstration of the existing and potential applications of these three materials and their combinations, especially in optoelectronics and photocatalytic platforms. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state‐of‐the‐art in this field to help researchers identify opportunities and challenges in laser processing of emerging nanomaterials for optoelectronics and photocatalysis. The escalating consumption of fossil fuels has given rise to a substantial upsurge in greenhouse gas concentrations and global temperatures, which, in turn, has triggered severe climate-related consequences. The critical imperative to reduce CO 2 emissions and combat global warming has spurred extensive investigations into clean energy alternatives, with hydrogen emerging as a compelling zero-emission energy source. As a pivotal component of clean energy strategies, hydrogen requires designing compact, lightweight, and efficient storage systems. This study focuses on the development and evaluation of machine learning models for predicting the efficiency of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) in hydrogen storage, a key aspect of advancing clean energy technologies. MOFs, a class of nanoporous materials, show remarkable potential for hydrogen storage due to their high surface area and porosity. However, selecting the most suitable MOF for this application from a vast array of possible structures is a daunting task. In this context, machine learning algorithms offer an efficient alternative for predicting MOF suitability by considering their structural and chemical properties. We used ensemble learning methods, specifically Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) and Random Forest (RF), to predict hydrogen uptake of MOFs based on a dataset of 219 experimentally tested samples. Two modeling scenarios were considered: one using the entire dataset, and the other involving strategic data pre-processing, including outlier removal and feature engineering. The results demonstrate that the measures taken to refine the dataset significantly enhance the predictive performance of the developed models, reducing prediction errors and improving overall goodness of fit. Specifically, the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) values for both the LightGBM and random forest models were reduced from 0.48 and 0.94, respectively, to 0.16 for both models, and the coefficients of determination (R2) increased substantially from 0.84 and 0.72 to 0.95, in both cases. Moreover, feature importance analysis unveiled that pressure-related features make the most significant contributions to the formation of tree ensembles during the model training process. A parametric sensitivity analysis was conducted revealing that H 2 uptake in MOFs is most sensitive to changes in adsorption enthalpy, followed by surface area and temperature, while showing lower sensitivity to variations in pressure, consistent with established literature. These results underscore the pivotal role of data enhancement methods in refining machine learning models and can be instrumental in accelerating the development and optimization of MOF materials for clean energy applications.
