Title: Stack of exercises for tennis preparation Objectives: The aim of the thesis was to create a stack of exercises for four parts of tennis training: technical, tactical, psychological and fitness. Methods: Based on the analysis of the literature, internet sources and using my own experience, a stack of exercises was compiled to serve as a possible inspiration for tennis coaches. This was a deliberate selection of exercises according to my own experience and discretion. The stack included simple exercises for beginners as well as more challenging and less traditional exercises for advanced and more mature players. Results: The exercises in the stack are arranged progressively from the least challenging to the more challenging in each component of preparation. Each section contains at least 10 examples of exercises that focus on a selected issue. For each exercise, the title and objective are given, the exercise is described and explained, and for selected exercises a note, an example, a variation or an illustrative picture or photograph is included. In the breeding of honeybees (Apis mellifera L.), the good health of the bee colony is an important prerequisite for successful overwintering. The condition of the colonies is affected by environmental influences, the influence of genetics or the health status of the bees. Well-developed pharyngeal glands allow bee feeders to provide developing larvae with quality royal jelly. The longevity of the winter generation of bees is influenced by a many of physiological factors, which distinguish them from summer short-lived bees. The main factors of longevity appear to be the level of proteins in the hemolymph, especially vitellogenin, the level of juvenile hormone or the pheromone ethyl oleate. The natural immune system or the effects of oxidative stress also play an important role in the overwintering of colonies. Recently, overwintering is threatened by viral infections transmitted by varroa mite.

Climate change is currently one of the biggest threats that animal species must face. Increasing temperatures cause declines in wildlife populations all around the world. Ectothermic animals might be amongst the most threatened organisms by climate change due to their ecology that makes them dependent on ambient temperature. As ectotherms, snakes will most likely need to adapt to new climatic conditions, or they become extinct. To escape raising temperatures and decreasing precipitation, snakes might shift their ranges and move into more suitable areas. However, snakes have a low dispersal ability, which might lead to range reduction and in some populations even extinction. Climatic changes might affect health and behaviour of snake species as well. Increased temperatures can alter incubation period and embryonic development. Alterations in embryonic development and reduction of incubation period can cause different kinds of malformations, especially in oviparous snakes. These malformations can negatively impact fitness, depending on their severity. Some snake species might also benefit from climate change. Elevated temperatures allow snakes to be more active and, in some cases, even shorten hibernation duration. Snakes are also able to better escape predators in high temperatures than in low...

The aim of this thesis is to summarize present knowledge concerning the effects of gut microbiota composition on condition in birds. The effect of gut microbiota on various aspects of animal physiology is currently intensively studied and the understanding of its biomedical importance is a topical theme. However, the majority of the current research is focused on humans and other mammals, and in birds on agriculturally significant species. Therefore, this thesis focuses also on the applicability of results of agriculturally orientated research on free-living birds' study. The results of agricultural research show a high interspecies and intraspecies variability in the effects of certain bacteria on the condition of the host. That should be taken into account when designing experiments in wild-living species. This thesis summarizes current knowledge concerning the effects of bacteria on condition of birds that was gained in correlational and manipulative studies. Manipulative studies include those in which probiotics or antibiotics were given to birds. The main modes of action of probiotic bacteria are also summarized here. One of the aims of this thesis was also to find out the possibilities of using detection of certain bacterial species as a non-invasive method to assess birds' condition. This thesis...

Diploma thesis deals with comparison of feed rations of cattle in small private farm conditions with 53 dairy cows in Uherskohradisko. Feed rations were calculated according to German, Czech, French and American systems. For modelling the rations, we used software OKD by Agrokonzulta Zamberk s.r.o., Taurinut by Schaumann and programme from SANO. Calculated feed rations for 32,5 kg of milk yield containing 4,2 % of fat and 3,5 % of protein were compared to milk yield during the trial, which reached 28,8 kg of milk yield containing 4,2 % of fat and 3,5 % of protein. Also, the body condition score and structure of feed ratio on PennState separator was evaluated. Calculated feed rations were overestimated according to real milk yield. In order to body condition, score the overfeeding did not cause fattening of the herd. Analysis of small private farm showed us most frequent mistakes in feeding. From these mistakes, measures for better future management of the farm were suggested.

This thesis aims to assess whether the level of the physical condition of patients before lung transplantation affects the length of hospitalization after transplantation. The study includes patients over 18 years of age with both unilateral and bilateral lung transplantation who underwent hospitalization between 2016 and 2018 and underwent a six-minute walk test in the preoperative examination. Data were collected at the 3rd Department of Surgery, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague and Motol University Hospital and at the Department of Pneumology, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague and Motol University Hospital. The results partially confirmed the correlation between hospitalization and physical condition in some patient groups. Thus, the higher the level of fitness in patients before lung transplantation, the shorter the hospitalization period. The length of hospitalization is influenced not only by the condition of the patient before surgery but also by other significant preoperative, perioperative and postoperative factors that are not related to the condition. For this reason, there is generally no clear correlation between the length of hospitalization and physical condition. Preoperative condition improvement is desirable in lung transplant candidates...

Sexual ornaments important for mating success in many species are often assumed to evolve as condition-dependent signals of individual quality. Ornament expression can be associated with age and survival, thereby signalling individual viability. Here, we have tested viability signalling function of tail streamers and their importance for within-pair and extra-pair fertilisation success in the European barn swallow (Hirundo rustica rustica). In contrast to previous studies on this subspecies, our data suggest that tail length is not associated with fertilisation success in our population. Instead, the most important predictors of within-pair and extra-pair fertilisation success were female and male age, respectively. Our data supported viability signalling function of male tail streamers, as documented by age-related within- individual increase in their length. There was no evidence for senescence in this trait. Contrary to some previous studies, the viability signalling function of tail streamers was further supported by observed selective disappearance of males with shorter tails. Several physiological mechanisms have been proposed as maintaining signalling honesty. Among them, oxidative stress from highly reactive species (RS), including free radicals, attracted a considerable attention. Given...

Objective: The main goal of this study was to collect and summarize all available data on both short term effects and late effects of posterior cranial fossa tumor treatment on children patients' motoric abilities and to find out any possible correlation between a decline in motoric abilities and the type of treatment they received. Following previous studies on the topic, this study set a goal to design a testing procedure for areas in which decline of motoric abilities manifests the strongest and to put this procedure to test in the practical part of the study. Methods: Based on a research into specialized literature, four main areas in which a decline of motoric abilities occurs in posterior cranial fossa tumor patients have been identified. Those are ataxia, balance, physical condition and functional activities. For Ataxia the SARA test was used, for physical condition the 6MWT test, for balance the PCTSIB test and for functional activities the BOT-2 test, respectively. Furthermore we observed the overall quality of life of selected patients through a PedsQL questionnaire. The group of patients selected for this experiment consisted of nine individuals who underwent posterior cranial fossa tumor treatment more than two years before. Results: The SARA (p=0,020) a 6MWT (p

Determining the health state and condition of vertebrates based on hematological traits is currently dependent on technically imperfect and erroneous quantification of blood cells. Solution of this problem can be found in the use of flow cytometry. This is, however, complicated by the presence of nuclear erythrocytes in all vertebrate groups outside the mammals. To distinguish erythrocytes from leukocytes, it is necessary to use specific labeling with a leukocyte marker, which is the CD45 surface molekule encoded by the PTPRC gene. Current literature suggests high expression and structural interspecific variability of this molecule, which highly complicates the possible use of this marker in zoological research. Based on the prediction of domains from genomic sequence data, my analysis comparing the structure of the CD45 in various vertebrate representatives showed a high variability of the extracellular part, even in fibronectin domains, which have been earlier described as conservative. Although the CD45 receptor function has not been sufficiently resolved yet, the existing research results indicate strong positive selection aimed to this molecule. Taken together, although the CD45 is a useful molecular marker, the possibility of designing a universal antibody allowing testing of a wide range of...

The main objective of this thesis is to assess the influence of condition of Holstein cattle during the dry period on the quality of colostrum and on the milk yield. The assessment is based on Body Condition Score (BCS) performed on dairy cows during the dry period and, subsequently, after calving. The experiment was carried on from December 2015 to October 2016 in Mléčná farma Lubina, s. r. o. farm. The Body Condition Score was assessed in the dry period and then within a week after calving. The overall number of examined animals is 384 cows in the dry period and 384 cows after calving. An hour after calving, a sample of colostrum was taken and its quality was assessed by a manual refractometer ATC (with automatic temperature compensation). The parameters of milk yield were obtained from the milk yield examination of each dairy cow 100 days after calving. The experiment showed that the physical condition of dairy cows in the dry period was highly influential (P is smaller than 0,01) in the average BCS in component ranges and that the physical condition after calving was also highly influential (P is smaller than 0,01) in the average BCS in component ranges. Furthermore, the conclusive impact (P is smaller than 0,05) on the contents of proteins in milk of dairy cows with BCS is smaller or equal than 3 (3,77 %) and of dairy cows with optimum BCS of 3,25 to 3,75 (3,89 %) was proved. In case of succession of lactation periods, the conclusive impact (P is smaller than 0,01) was proved on milk yield of cows in their 2nd lactation period (38,16 kg) and cows in their 3rd lactation period (41,17 kg), as well as on cows in their 4th lactation period (38,59 kg). Also, the statistically conclusive impact (P is smaller than 0,01) on the contents of proteins in milk and of lactose of dairy cows in their 2nd lactation period (3,71 % a 5,03 %) and of dairy cows in their 4th lactation period and latter (4,10 % a 4,96 %) was proved. Other results weren´t statistically significant.
