The motivation for conducting this study is to investigate the potential of Cloud e-learning to address the high-cost and high-complexity challenges of conventional learning methods for the upgraded learning processes in higher education. The overall direction of this research is driven towards how the actual usage of Cloud e-learning module affects students' perceptions and academic performance. A Cloud e-learning module is designed and developed to promote optimised resource utilisation in the e-learning processes in higher education. A pretest-posttest method was adopted to study the impact of Cloud e-learning usage among students and whether the diffusion of Cloud e-learning has caused a change in students' perceptions. The pretest-posttest results and students' academic performance were then analysed to examine the impact from the actual usage of Cloud e-learning module. The findings reveal that the change of students' perceptions is time variant, indicating students' mixed perceptions on the usage of Cloud e-learning module. Analysis evidently reveals that the use of Cloud e-learning improved students' learning performance in theoretical subjects. This research is useful to educators and ICT practitioners in making informed decisions in adopting the right ICT infrastructures to support e-learning in higher education.

Background: Although the literature on education and learning sciences determined how student identities influence their experiential learning process, this link is less clear in the agricultural context, where farmers have faced unique value chain challenges i.e., production to marketing. Purpose: This study contributes to examining how farmers' role identities support or hamper farmers' experiential learning processes. Methodology: First, a qualitative analysis of 91 interviews with coffee farmers in Uganda was carried out to understand the nature and relevance of farmers' role identities. Second, using partial least squares regression-based path analysis, the moderating effect of 214 coffee farmers' production role identity on their experiential learning was assessed. Findings: Findings reveal that farmers' identification as coffee farmers shape what, how, and when they learn from their value chain challenges. Farmers' role identity, in particular, supports their reflection on past challenges to increase their challenge-solving knowledge, as well as experimentation to solve their challenges. Implications: This study integrates role identity theories in the study of learning processes in rural coffee value chains. Moreover, the findings suggest that agricultural extension workers should understand farmers' identities and their influence on their learning to select the targets and developments of their training programs.

E-science, or networked, collaborative and multidisciplinary scientific research on a shared e-infrastructure using computational tools, methods and applications, has also brought about new networked organizational forms in the transition of higher education towards the entrepreneurial academy. While the under-representation of women in ICTs is well-recorded, it is also known that the potential of new organizational forms such as networked structures to promote gender equality remains ambiguous, as they tend to perpetuate already existing inequalities due to their embeddedness in larger and longer-term structural or institutional gender effects. Based on a year-long ethnographic study in a networked academic e-science collaboration in Sweden and 45 in-depth, semi-structured interviews with its affiliated researchers, this article analyzes the multi-level obstacles to achieving gender equality in e-science to highlight the ways in which gendered disparities persist in this new, project-based academic networked organization in Sweden, hereafter called eSec. At the "organizational level" eSec remains deeply embedded in the traditional disciplinary and institutional academic setting, inadvertently reproducing existing gender imbalances across sciences. Furthermore, as a project-based organization, it is also embedded in the shift towards an entrepreneurial university model driven by new managerialism, the latter having a well-documented adverse effect in gender equality. This represents "a "structural-level" obstacle which leads to especially female junior faculty leaving academy for industry. An "individual level" obstacle is observed alongside these as disavowal ("Verleugnung") of gender disparities, an affect identified as a key mechanism of subjectivation in neoliberalism.

Digital ecosystems are a set of interconnected elements that enable an integrated and seamless digital experience. In education, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has great potential to improve teaching and learning. However, for the expectations placed on the educational use of AI to be met, it is necessary to develop adequate digital ecosystems that allow its effective implementation. Therefore, it is of great importance to deepen the understanding of these ecosystems and their key elements for such implementation. For this purpose, a systematic review of the literature on this subject was conducted, which included the analysis of 76 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. The main results of the review highlight the current focus of research in that matter, which relates digital ecosystems and artificial intelligence around the personalization of learning. Also, some aspects related to this relationship are analyzed from four categories: networks, applications, services, and users.

Background: Knowledge brokering by intermediary organizations includes knowledge distillation processes (e.g., synthesis, translation). Aims and objectives: This article explores how an educational intermediary performs research distillation when creating virtual knowledge reservoirs for educators. Methods: The authors use qualitative data from semi-structured interviews, coded to consensus, and thematically analyzed. Findings: During synthesis, intermediaries apply a "research lens" to evaluate the credibility of the evidence. During translation, they rely on their experience as educators to share evidence in a non-academic voice and generate "turnkey" strategies. Discussion and conclusion: The article considers the knowledge brokering pipeline fallacy and examines the potential of ongoing processes for improving the effectiveness of intermediaries with the aim of diminishing research-practice and research-policy gaps in education.

Increasing numbers of students require internet access to pursue their undergraduate degrees, yet broadband access remains inequitable across student populations. Furthermore, surveys that currently show differences in access by student demographics or location typically do so at high levels of aggregation, thereby obscuring important variation between subpopulations within larger groups. Through the dual lenses of quantitative intersectionality and critical race spatial analysis alongside a QuantCrit approach, we use Bayesian multilevel regression and Census microdata to model variation in broadband access among undergraduate populations at deeper interactions of identity. We find substantive heterogeneity in student broadband access by gender, race, and place, including between typically aggregated subpopulations. Our findings speak to inequities in students' geographies of opportunity and suggest a range of policy prescriptions at both the institutional and federal level.

Broadband is not equally accessible among students despite its increasing importance to education. We investigate the relationship between broadband and housing policy by joining two measures of broadband access with Depression-era redlining maps that classified neighborhoods based in part on racist and classist beliefs. We find that despite internet service provider self-reports of similar technological availability, broadband access generally decreases in tandem with historic neighborhood classification, with further heterogeneity by race/ethnicity and income. Our findings demonstrate how past federally-developed housing policies connect to the digital divide and should be considered in educational policies that require broadband for success.

Whether by choice or pushed online by Covid, higher education is increasingly happening in digital spaces with digital tools forming a critical part of learning and teaching contexts. While reviews suggest such tools positively influence student engagement, research tends to be generic and more is needed to understand how and why specific tools can influence student engagement, learning, and success. Relationships are a key influence on student engagement and online students often feel disconnected and isolated; tools which increase interaction and communication with staff and among students are therefore important. This qualitative study examined how two specific tools, Discord and Teams, work in conjunction with an LMS to benefit student engagement and learning. Nineteen students were interviewed, and the data thematically analysed. Findings show the tools facilitated communication, helped build relationships and communities, encouraged help-seeking within the course and, with Discord, with the wider disciplinary community. These usages led to improved belonging, wellbeing, engagement, and learning. The perceived norms of the digital spaces were an important influence on student tool usage. A key contribution of this research is defining a new tool categorisation, Learning Commons Communication Tools (LCCT), which better describes the informal and organic spaces created by such tools.

With this research, it was aimed to determine the educational Informatics Network (EBA) [Egitim Bilisim Agi] usage purposes of 12th grade students in secondary education institutions and their views on EBA. 452 students attending the 12th grade at six secondary schools randomly selected in the city center of Kars in the 2015-2016 academic year participated in this research. The questionnaire "Students' Purposes of Using Educational Information Network (EBA) and Their Views on EBA" was used to collect the research data using the scanning model. According to the research, it is seen that the general views of the students about EBA are not very positive. However, it was determined that the scores for using EBA were lower than the scores for opinions about EBA. It has been determined that the students' purposes for using EBA are mostly to learn the lessons and subjects that they have the most difficulty with.

Information literacy (IL) open learning object repositories (LORs) provide a space for librarians to find and exchange instruction resources and lessons. Given many librarians enter the workforce with little or no formal training or educational opportunities to learn about pedagogy, these repositories are indispensable resources to the Library and Information Science field. This study explored the contents of two popular IL LORs, Project Cora and the Association of College and Research Libraries Framework for Information Literacy Sandbox, to uncover how users engage with the resources and how the repositories differ. This study's findings suggest that while resources within the LORs are being used, yearly submissions have stagnated. Intentional assessment of disciplinary and information literacy concept gaps, followed by targeted calls for resources, may improve and increase engagement with the repositories as communities of practice.

E-Learning Education systems are gaining attention day-to-day because of their inclusive pertinence in the distance education system. Due to COVID-19, the online learning education system has become very popular. Most probably, all education systems have been using the IoT-based E-Learning system to continue the students' education without hindrance during the COVID lockdown. Several E-Learning IoT schemes are explored that reflect privacy and security, but still, there is no detailed scheme; hence, it needs a sustainable, secure E-Learning IoT system. The characteristics and prospects of the Internet of Things are discussed in this article. By analyzing the various functions and capabilities of the Internet of Things, this article aims to provide an overview of the various advantages and challenges of using the platform for e-learning. This paper proposed the E-Learning IoT architecture with Blockchain technology, with layers of different IoT and Blockchain concepts to secure the online education system. Also, the block diagram of the proposed architecture demonstrates how students can securely access or interact with the online learning system through Blockchain technology. By implementing the proposed e-learning IoT architecture, universities and colleges can improve their distance learning programs and increase efficiency without affecting their academic activities. Finally, the study found that e-learning positively impacts students' learning experience and overall quality of education. It also exhibited a significant positive impact on their flexibility and academic productivity.

Early career investigators (ECIs) in the Social Sciences and Humanities need to receive adequate information so that they will be empowered to progress in their academic career and deal with the various evaluation processes that constitute an essential part of their professional development. This article relies on an informational-ecosystemic approach originally developed in the context of resilience studies and crisis communication and uses it as a theoretical framework to analyse and understand the "early academic career building information ecosystems" (EACBIEs), into which ECIs professionally develop. The characteristics of these ecosystems are then refined through the analysis of interviews conducted with ECIs from all around Europe in the framework of the European Network for Research Evaluation in Social Sciences and Humanities (ENRESSH), European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Action. The analysis reveals the remarkable heterogeneity of the information ecosystems into which early career researchers have to build their career in Europe, articulating a diversity of formal, non-formal and informal learning environments, and several related information channels, as well as showing a geographical spread that covers institutional, national and international levels. Furthermore, although the diverse information channels at hand and geographical levels at which they operate appear in some cases to be complementary, and even mutually reinforcing, they can also, in other cases, be dysfunctional, fragmented and unfair to some extent.

The COVID-19 pandemic sparked an unprecedented expansion of educational technologies and digitisation of the university sector, and also amplified existing inequalities and crises. In this paper, we introduce the 'socio-technically just pedagogies framework' to systemically explore curriculum-making, student-staff partnerships, knowledge production, and networked capabilities in higher education. This conceptual innovation seeks to (re)articulate pedagogy across four aspects: (i) a commitment to curriculum-making as a form of everyday activism; (ii) a nurturing of student-staff coalitions to expand student-staff partnerships; (iii) development of generative spaces for transdisciplinary co-creation; and (iv) the deliberation of networked capabilities. This framework emerged from a partnership with students at an Australian university that sought to experiment with pedagogical practices and possibilities. Our coalition then responded to the framework to illicit collective insights about the curriculum-making phenomenon. The framework seeks to articulate curriculum-making initiatives that collectively enact socio-technically just pedagogies.

This text addresses the importance of scientific collaboration networks in the context of open science, presenting the experience achieved within the International Academic Network WEIWER®. From this particular case, it will be possible to show that scientific entrepreneurship initiatives, based on collaborative research, are an effective way to overcome the individualism still present in many university institutions, e.g. due to their traditional or conventional features. Therefore, we aim to reflect on the contribution of these research networks to the policies that sustain the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge. In a current situation, in which there is a consolidation of the culture of openness, both at the governmental and academic levels, the WEIWER® experience allows us to conclude that networked research enables the construction of an open, collaborative and social space for science, respecting the autonomy, reflection and independence of each researcher. In short, we argue that in the context of open science, these research networks contribute to promote the construction of knowledge in collective settings, creating enriching dialogues and understandings on the complexity of both the research objects and designs dealt with.

School attendance is strongly associated with academic success and high school completion, but approximately one-in-seven students miss nearly one month of school each year. To address absenteeism, we partnered with four public school districts in the metro-Atlanta area and experimentally deployed email and text messages to inform parents about their child's attendance. Parents received personalized monthly messages through the school districts' existing messaging platforms that had zero marginal cost per message. The messages informed parents about their child's number of absences and how that number compared to absences of their peers. For most parents, this information was delivered through email as opposed to text, and parents of students most in need of improved attendance were the hardest to reach. Intent-to-treat estimates show the intervention reduced end-of-year absences by four-tenths to two-thirds of a day (2 to 3%) and reduced the probability of chronic absenteeism by 2 to 6%, while actually receiving the messages reduced end-of-year absences by two-thirds to almost one day (3 to 4%) and reduced the probability of chronic absenteeism by 4 to 7%.

Rural-serving community colleges (RSCCs) play vital roles in their communities yet often struggle to facilitate student transfer to further education, especially in STEM fields. This mixed methods study explored how rural STEM educators leverage relationships to support transfer. Social network analysis of focus groups with 36 educators at five rural colleges revealed interconnected webs of statewide ties. Network maps illuminated diverse connections bridged to expand possibilities, though each college manifested unique relational patterns. The structural analysis identified dynamics like strained administration ties and program silos contributing to isolation. Highly networked "systems conveners" modeled boundary-crossing, forming expansive links to resources. These findings align with social learning and ecological systems frameworks situating learning within complex environments. Fostering inclusive educator networks through targeted funding, communication, consortiums, and spotlighting systems thinkers may strengthen ties and mitigate barriers. This study directs nurturing networked ecosystems to empower equity in rural STEM education.

Objective: Transfer student capital (TSC) helps community college students realize the potential for the transfer pathway to serve as a lower-cost option to a bachelor's degree. However, students' accrual of TSC depends on the quality and quantity of information networks and infrastructure; information asymmetry in these networks can impede students' transfer progress. Methods: Using interview data from stakeholders who support engineering transfer students at one research university and two community college partners, we apply a methodology that combines qualitative coding techniques (i.e., descriptive, process, and evaluative coding) with network and pathway analyses to explore an information network for coursework transfer in engineering. Results: Our findings illustrate the disjointed and complex web of information sources that transfer students may use to accrue TSC. We highlight pathways fraught with information asymmetry as well as information sources and processes that give promise to students' ability to accrue TSC and successfully navigate transfer of coursework vertically. Conclusions: An abundance of information sources and paths does not equate to a better transfer system. Utilizing network analysis to visualize and evaluate information sources and processes provides an additional method for evaluating information systems for transfer. Consolidating information sources or improving processes linking information sources could improve inefficiencies in transfer students' transitions.

This article explores the history of digital testing technology. Using an organisation that pioneered the use of international large-scale assessments -- the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) -- I discuss the role of computers, punched cards, answer cards and scanning machines as an example of transnational collaboration in the social sciences. In doing so, I particularly look into temporal and spatial dimensions of collaboration. The temporal dimension had to do with ideals of speed and durability, whereas the spatial dimension had to do with questions of where data processing should occur and how data could travel across boundaries. The analysis goes beyond simplistic assumptions where digital technology is seen merely as a tool that facilitates data processing. Instead, I stress the complexity of using computers and emphasize the materiality of digital technology, essential for understanding how data moved around in an era before the World Wide Web.

The purpose of this paper is to provide insight into the challenges and possibilities of compiling, co-constructing, and composing ethnodrama with young people via virtual workspaces. The following ethnodramatic vignettes are constructed from the stories of six Latina/x artivist-researchers in an intergenerational theatre troupe, Estrella Theatre (ET) company. This collection of scripts is based on critical and arts-based qualitative data collected during ET's arts-based youth participatory action research project. The stories were collected during arts-based elicitation and semi-structured interviews, participant observation, analytic memos, and artifacts over a seven-month period. In addition to illustrating how Latina/x youth in the United States. Southwest embody transformational resistance in their lives as they traverse school, home, and community spaces, I reveal the process, challenges, and possibilities of utilising Zoom towards ethnodramatic authorship with youth.

A modern technology-supported vocational educational system significantly affects the quality of vocational training and contributes to the innovation and economic development of the regional area. The visualization literature analysis was adopted with the purpose of exploring the theoretical framework for developing a 6G-assisted network to realize the multi-party participation in the modern government-industry-education Integration system. The literature review showed the network should involve all cooperation entities into the communication system to intensify all coordination guided by the triple helix theory, should be strong enough to store all kinds of resources to support the optimized sharing, be efficient to track student training processes and learning data to provide scientific evaluation to student development in personal qualities and competencies, be supportive to develop a cooperating culture to form a healthy ecosystem in which all enterprises actively participate and invest in vocational education.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the Education Information Network (EBA) and experimental supported activities on students' science attitude and 7th grade students' views about these activities in the teaching of the electrical circuits unit. The research was carried out with 73 students studying at a state secondary school in the Daday district of Kastamonu Province, Turkey. Two experimental groups and one control group were randomly selected from this school. While the courses of the experimental-1 group were taught with the EBA supported activities, the experimental-2 group were taught with the EBA and experimental activities, the courses of the control group were taught in compliance with the 2018 Science Curriculum. In research, quantitative data were collected with the Science Course Attitude Scale (SCAS) and qualitative data were collected with the Semi-Structured Interview Form (SSIF). As a result of this study, while there was no significant difference between the experimental-1 group and the control group, it was observed that there is a significant difference between experimental-2 group and control group, and experimental-2 group and experimental-1 group. In other words, EBA and experimental-supported teaching improved positively students' attitudes towards the science course. The data obtained from SSIF applied only to six students from the experimental-2 group support this result. Based on the results of the study, science teachers are recommended to do experimental with EBA in their courses.

This paper focuses on investigating whether the contents of 6th grade math lesson in the digital education platform (EBA) used in distance education in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic period are appropriate to the critical thinking standards. The contents of the math lesson, which are in the digital education platform (EBA) in 2020-2021 academic years, constitute the population of the study. The course contents, which belong to "Data Collection" and "Data Analysis" subtopics of 6th grade math lesson used in Turkey's digital education platform (EBA) in 2020-2021 academic years, constitute the sample of the study. In the study, document analysis method is used. Based on the analysis conducted, it is concluded that the learning contents, which belong to "Data Collection and Evaluation" and "Data Analysis" subtopics of 6th grade math lesson, are appropriate to clearness, accuracy, importance, sufficiency, depth, and precision standards of critical thinking. In accordance with the findings discovered, some suggestions are made on the process of distance education.

The influence of 4th generation broadband cellular network technology on education is explored in this paper. The advent of 4G technology has had a revolutionary impact on undergraduate education, transforming the way students access information and interact with course materials. With 4G, students can now quickly and easily access online resources, download and stream multimedia content, collaborate with classmates in real-time, and participate in remote learning. This technology has had a profound influence on the way education is managed today, providing faster and more efficient access to educational resources and a personalized learning experience while streamlining administrative processes and assisting teachers in instruction. 4G technology has completely revolutionized the way education is thought of and experienced, creating an open environment, interactivity, and increasingly specialized training for students and professionals alike.

Using a literacy framework, this case study explores parents' assessment literacy in South Florida (United States). Data were collected using focus-group interviews of public-school parents (N = 32) and a document artifact. Findings illustrate how parents drew upon verbal and virtual information and social interactions to learn about the educational assessments used for their children. Implications for educators were identified to assist parents in asking assessment questions in order to demystify the educational assessment process.

The Bitmoji classroom craze swept education during online teaching and learning in 2020-21. Was that just a fad for pandemic times, or do they retain value in post-pandemic K-12 education? In a recent survey of 72 educators that included 45 school librarians, 71%, mostly at the elementary level, reported that they still use them. The purposes varied from online reading rooms to virtual book clubs to maintaining a school library presence in case of inclement weather. Bitmoji virtual libraries are an effective way to: (1) develop and satisfy personal interests; (2) design culturally responsive classrooms; (3) curate a collection of materials for learning needs; and (4) satisfy curiosity for new learning that is connected to prior learning. This article presents how Bitmoji classrooms meet the professional standards of twenty-first century school librarians.

Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 (SDG4) resonates with all education systems of the world. It has resulted in education policies being created and promulgated with sustainability and development in mind. In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), sustainability speaks to the need for schooling systems to operate as a knowledge society and to maximally exploit the abundance of knowledge assets that exist in their ecologies. This implies that they must adopt knowledge management (KM) to take advantage of the 4IR era aligned technological innovations, instructional practices and administrative standards. In light of the view that, of all KM processes, knowledge sharing reigns supreme and gives rise to the generation of new organisational knowledge as well as the innovation of existing organisational knowledge; the study adopted a qualitative approach embedded in an interpretivist paradigm to explore the perceptions of teaching and support staff- specifically six teachers and four administrative clerks (altogether ten participants) - of factors contributing to unequal power relations in knowledge sharing practices at two selected schools in Nkangala Education District, Mpumalanga Province (South Africa). The study found that poor leadership practices contributed to unhealthy professional interactions, knowledge hoarding, contravention of contextual ethics (of Ubuntu), trust deficit, top-down communication and workplace bullying.

Background: The gap between research and practical implementation remains a major challenge for policymakers. Research co-creation, involving researchers co-designing and co-producing research with industry, government and civil society, can support improved end user uptake and better research implementation. Aims and objectives: This Practice Paper introduces a process of research co-creation based in implementation science and integrated knowledge translation theories. It details the development of the Infrastructure Engagement Excellence Standards (IEE), a framework of 10 Standards defining the qualities of community engagement for optimal infrastructure planning and delivery. The paper details a research co-creation process applicable across a variety of industries and policy settings. Key conclusions: The Practice Paper introduces a theory-based method for research co-production and discusses strengths and weaknesses of the co-creation approach used to develop the IEE Standards. Implementation science and integrated knowledge translation theory offer important insights to support more successful research co-design and co-production. Research that incorporates these theories is better positioned to achieve implementation. The creation of the IEE Standards offers one helpful example of how researchers, policymakers and practitioners can begin to close the research-implementation gap.

Introduction: Previous studies suggest that the users of social question and answer Websites contribute their knowledge to a community in exchange for intrinsic rewards from other members, such as reciprocity and reputation. Thus, rewarding knowledge contributors is of great importance for maintaining the users of such Websites. However, there is a lack of knowledge on the reward mechanisms used by the sites. In addition, while previous studies have highlighted the importance of reciprocity in motivating knowledge sharing, little is known about how reciprocity takes place in a knowledge community, hence, this study addresses that research gap. Method: This study seeks to explore reward mechanisms and quantify the conversion ratio based on studying the profiles of 33,974 observations from a Chinese social question and answer Website. Analysis. The structural equation modelling technique was adopted to estimate the research model via the partial least squares approach. Results: The results show that users who have more followers and publish more questions and articles, tend to answer more questions on social question and answer Websites. The interaction effect between the users' question-asking activities and the appreciation they receive has a significant influence on user popularity. Conclusions: Writing articles and providing answers generate appreciation from other community members. In addition, users are likely to follow individual users who not only asked interesting questions but who also provided high-quality answers, implying a like-minded effect.

This paper explores the nature of integrated networks of practice, and in particular, the important role of "hubs" within networks. Hubs are individuals or groups that energize cross-connections, improve knowledge flow, enhance learning across small clusters of expertise, and play critical roles in building and sustaining robust integrated networks. Three examples illustrate how group-based hubs can facilitate professional learning across naturally occurring significant networks. Drawing on these examples and scholarship in the field, we offer a comprehensive framework for cultivating integrated networks for teaching and learning, and highlight some of the lessons we have learned.

One definition of a network administrator describes a person who works with computer infrastructures with an emphasis on networking. To determine the specific skills required of a network administrator by employers, data was collected from 698 nationwide job advertisements on Dice.com. The data collection focused on technical skills rather than soft skills. The requested skills were then broken into various categories in the networking and computing world such as routing protocols, operating systems, virtualization technologies, etc. Educational requirements in terms of degrees and certificates were also tabulated. The results show a great breadth in the requested skills and the summary results will be helpful for curriculum development/review, for career advising, and to faculty teaching in the Information Systems field.

ResearchGate and Academia.edu have been increasingly acknowledged as the most popular academic social network sites (ASNS) for scholarly communication. Along with their benefits for supporting communication and knowledge sharing within academic communities, concerns over quality and credibility remain a pertinent issue. In terms of research investigation, ASNS have attracted strong attention for new scholarly practice and their potential for building, maintaining and enhancing reputation. However, a thorough understanding is still lacking of how these sites operate as networked socio-technical systems reshaping scholarly practices and academic identity. This article analyses 39 empirical studies published in peer-reviewed journals with a specific focus on ResearchGate and Academia.edu. The aim is to describe the status of the research and to identify gaps and priorities in the areas of scholarly networked learning and shared knowledge. Results show that the number of studies focusing on ResearchGate was more than double those dedicated to Academia.edu. While both sites have attracted attention in the library and information sciences as deployments for reputation building and alternative ranking systems, such as ResearchGate metrics, there is a dearth of research investigating practices and new modes of communication in the light of a networked participatory approach to scholarship. Most of the studies analysed focused on the general uptake or impact assessment of alternative metrics, while very few investigated individual and collective scholarly practices. This study points to the need for specific research on open and distributed learning achieved in ASNS according to a networked learning perspective.

This article details the Northwest Indiana Public Safety Data Consortium (NWIPSDC), a privately funded data-sharing network housed at Indiana University Northwest, an anchor institution, that includes several private-sector participants and over 30 public safety agencies at all levels of government (local, county, state, and federal). The NWIPSDC is fully explained, as are the academic underpinnings that supported its foundation (anchor institutions, network governance, and organizational and systems theory). The consortium is then detailed. The article concludes by overviewing, from the faculty perspective, the benefits and opportunities as well as challenges and drawbacks for those considering this type of community-engaged service/research on such a scale and how administrators can help to alleviate these issues and concerns.

Background: There is limited research on how knowledge translation of a domestic violence (DV) research network is shared. This lack of research is problematic because of the complexity of establishing a research network, encompassing diverse disciplines, methods, and focus of study potentially impacting how knowledge translation functions. Aims and objectives: To address the limited research, we completed a deliberative dialogue with the following questions: "Is there a consensus regarding a coherent knowledge translation framework for a domestic violence research network? What are the key actions that a domestic violence research network could take to enhance knowledge translation?" Methods: Deliberative dialogue is a group process that blends research and practice to identify potential actions. In total, 16 participants attended three deliberative dialogue meetings. We applied a qualitative analysis to the data to identify the key actions. Findings: The deliberative dialogue facilitated mutual agreement regarding four key actions: (1) agreement on a knowledge translation approach; (2) active promotion of dedicated leadership within an authorising environment; (3) development of sustainable partnerships through capacity building and collaboration, particularly with DV survivors; and (4) employment of multiple strategies applying different kinds of evidence for diverse purposes and emerging populations. Discussion and conclusions: The use of the deliberative dialogue has uncovered specific factors required for the successful knowledge translation of domestic violence research. These factors have been added to the Integrated Knowledge Translation (IKT) capacity framework to enhance its application for domestic violence research. Future research could explore these organisational, professional and individual factors further by evaluating them in practice.

FATIH Project carried out by the Turkish government is one of the comprehensive technology integration project in the World. With this project, interactive boards, tablets and multifunctional printers have been distributed to schools and Internet infrastructure of schools improved. EIN (Educational Informatics Network) platform, known as EBA (Egitim Bilisim Agi) in Turkey, has been established to access the digital content to be used in conjunction with this technology. In this qualitative study, the process of using EBA was examined by benefiting from teachers' opinions and experiences; and it was aimed at revealing the problems experienced by teachers while using EBA and opinions regarding the alternatives for existing problems. Based on the content analysis of teachers' answers, it was concluded that problematic conditions as insufficient systematic structure and content of EBA, inappropriate content for students' needs and grade level, incompatibility with the changes in instructional programs, central exams pressure, and students' concentration on teacher-oriented approach had negative impacts on teachers unwilling and/or insufficient EBA use. Therefore, a model was presented to include teachers' recommendations which are composed of three strategies for the solution of the problems they experienced while using EBA.
