Resumen Este artículo explora el fenómeno de asunción de identidades en las redes sociales y la influencia que tiene la inteligencia artificial (bots) para que agentes externos logren tomar ventaja de los momentos de vulnerabilidad de diversos sujetos. El tema se aborda desde la perspectiva que ofrecen los estudios de Jacques Lacan y René Girard, con el enfoque de la ecología de medios. La investigación se fundamenta en un análisis particular de manipulación en Twitter en torno del caso de la caravana migrante de 2018 y la propagación del discurso de odio. Abstract This article explores the phenomenon of identity assumption on social media and the influence that artificial intelligence (bots) has so that external agents can take advantage of the vulnerable moments of various individuals. The subject is approached from the perspective offered by Jacques Lacan’s and René Girard’s studies, following the path of media ecology. The research is based on analyzing the phenomenon of manipulation on Twitter around the case of the migrant caravan of 2018 and the spread of hate speech. Resumo Este artigo explora o fenômeno da assunção de identidade e a influência que a inteligência artificial (bots) tem para que agentes externos possam aproveitar os momentos de vulnerabilidade de diversos sujeitos. O assunto é abordado na perspectiva dos estudos de Jacques Lacan, René Girard e sob a abordagem da ecologia da mídia. Esta pesquisa está baseada em uma análise particular da manipulação no Twitter em torno do caso da caravana de migrantes de 2018 e da disseminação do discurso de ódio.

Omar Khayyam, a philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, and scientist, is one of the intellectuals whose arguments and insights traveled beyond the borders of Persia and profoundly influenced the literature and cultures of many other countries over the years. The Eastern-inspired quatrains' meanings, contexts, and messages were subjected to unrestrained interpretations and distortions, dramatically impacting Khayyam's reputation. Although scholars debated the non-uniformity of the quatrains and cast doubt concerning the attributions to Khayyam, FitzGerald picked up a few poems from hundreds of quatrains, and his rendering of selected quatrains became more accountable for the related phenomenological diversions. Afterward, by utilizing techniques such as adding, subtracting, and incorporating a few quatrains into one, he developed a compilation that, on the one hand, became a seasoning for Western readers and, on the other hand, threatened the spiritual, scientific, and cultural context of Khayyam. Thus, biased interpretations by FitzGerald resulted in a series that reflected controversial schools, including materialism, hedonism, agnosticism, determinism, nihilism, and skepticism. This article illustrates the inauthenticity regarding the attribution and interpretation of quatrains by applying a few quatrains as examples of the collections, as well as the fact that none of the extracted schools are consistent with Khayyam's philosophy and thought. Additionally, the primary quatrains credited to Khayyam adopt a mystical and Sufi perspective. Bir filozof, matematikçi, astronom ve bilim adamı olan Ömer Hayyam, argümanları ve içgörüleri İran sınırlarının ötesine geçen ve yıllar boyunca diğer birçok ülkenin edebiyatını ve kültürünü derinden etkileyen entelektüellerden bir düşünürdür. Doğu'dan ilham alan dörtlüklerin anlamları, bağlamları ve mesajları sınırsız yorumlara ve çarpıtmalara maruz kaldıp, Hayyam'ın itibarını önemli ölçüde etkiledi. Bilim adamları dörtlüklerin tek biçimli olmadığını tartışsalar ve Hayyam'a yapılan atıflarla ilgili şüpheler uyandırsalar da, FitzGerald yüzlerce dörtlükten birkaç şiir seçerek dörtlüklerin yorumlaması ilgili fenomenolojik sapmalardan daha sorumlu hale geldi. Daha sonra birkaç dörtlük toplama, çıkarma, bir araya getirme gibi tekniklerden yararlanarak, bir yandan Batılı okuyucular için bir çeşni haline gelen, diğer yandan manevi, bilimsel ve Hayyam'ın kültürel bağlamı derinden değişti . Böylece, FitzGerald'ın önyargılı yorumları, materyalizm, hedonizm, agnostisizm, determinizm, nihilizm ve şüphecilik dahil olmak üzere tartışmalı okulları yansıtan bir dizi ile sonuçlandı. Bu makale, derlemelere örnek olarak birkaç dörtlük uygulanarak dörtlüklerin isnat edilmesi ve yorumlanmasındaki asılsızlığın yanı sıra, çıkarılan ekollerin hiçbirinin Hayyam'ın felsefesi ve düşüncesiyle tutarlı olmadığı gerçeğini ortaya koymaktadır. Ek olarak, Hayyam'a atfedilen birincil dörtlükler, mistik ve tasavvufi bir bakış açısı benimsemektedir.

Tutora: Anjana Martínez Tejerina Cada vez es más frecuente ver la sociedad multicultural y multilingüe de la que formamos parte retratada en la gran pantalla. Los acentos o las lenguas que se distinguen en una cinta son determinantes para la caracterización de los personajes y la ambientación del largometraje. ¿Es posible trasladar esta riqueza lingüística en el doblaje? ¿Qué posibilidades tiene el traductor ante este fenómeno y qué factores le llevan a optar por una estrategia en lugar de otra? El presente trabajo estudia de manera descriptiva la versión original y la versión doblada de la película Los dos papas y analiza la función y el traslado de las diferentes lenguas presentes en la cinta a partir del concepto de L3 de Corrius y Zabalbeascoa (2011). El análisis cuenta además con las declaraciones de Patricia Franco Lommers, la traductora del filme al castellano. La investigación revela una tendencia a mantener el multilingüismo mediante del uso de una estrategia mixta que combina el doblaje de la L1 con la subtitulación de la(s) L3. Asimismo, el estudio destaca el gran grado de manipulación técnica e ideológica presente en la traducción de películas multilingües y pone el foco en el papel decisivo que juegan las distribuidoras durante el proceso de traducción. Els accents o les llengües que es distingeixen en una pel·lícula són determinants per a la caracterització dels personatges o l’ambientació del llargmetratge. És possible traslladar aquesta riquesa lingüística al doblatge? Quines possibilitats té el traductor davant aquest fenomen i quins factors li porten a optar per una estratègia en lloc d’una altra? El present treball estudia de manera descriptiva la versió original i la versió doblada de la pel·lícula The Two Popes i analitza la funció i el trasllat de les diferents llengües presents al film a partir del concepte de L3 de Corrius i Zabalbeascoa (2011). L’anàlisi compta a més amb les declaracions de Patricia Franco Lommers, la traductora de la pel·lícula al castellà. La recerca revela una tendència a mantenir el multilingüisme mitjançant l’ús d’una estratègia mixta que combina el doblatge de l’L1 amb la subtitulació de la(s) L3. Així mateix, l’estudi destaca la gran manipulació tècnica i ideològica present en la traducció de pel·lícules multilingües i posa el focus en el paper decisiu que tenen les distribuïdores durant el procés de traducció. It is becoming increasingly common to see the multicultural and multilingual society that we are part of portrayed on the big screen. The accents or languages found in a film are decisive for the characterization of the actors and the setting of the feature film. Is it possible to transfer this linguistic richness to dubbing? What are the possibilities for the translator when facing this phenomenon, and what factors lead him to choose one strategy over another? This paper studies the original version and the dubbed version of the film The Two Popes in a descriptive way and analyses the function and transfer of the different languages present in the film using Corrius and Zabalbeascoa's (2011) concept of L3. The analysis also includes statements by Patricia Franco Lommers, the translator of the film into Spanish. The research reveals a tendency to maintain multilingualism by using a mixed strategy that combines L1 dubbing with L3 subtitling. The study also highlights the great degree of technical and ideological manipulation involved in translating multilingual films and focuses on the decisive role played by distributors during the translation process.

The diploma thesis focuses on a child as a tool of ideological manipulation in interwar journals targeted to children readers, especially on ideological connotations in the journals. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part will deal with the meaning of the term ideology, its conceptions and values. Subsequently, the position of ideology in the society will be defined with the main focus on ideology as a system of communication. Furthermore, the concepts of individual political ideologies will be elaborated as much as schematization of ideology within the left-wing and right-wing political parties. To understand better the term ideology and to simplify the following process in the practical part of the thesis the historical changes of the ideology and its politicization will be described. Lastly, the perception of ideology in interwar period will be adumbrated. In the practical part of the thesis the chosen interwar journals targeted to children readers will be analysed in terms of ideology. The journals will be chosen according to their affiliation to certain, not only politically oriented, associations. The degree of political agitation and the use of a child as an agitation tool will be examined in these interwar journals: Anděl strážný (1882-1941, 1945-1948), Lípa (1925-1940), Malý čtenář (1882-1941), Rajská zahrádka (1892-1942), Růžový palouček (1921-1941, 1948/1949), Sokolské jaro (1936-1941), Svítání (1915-1918) a Zlatá brána (1919-1943).

This paper intends to evaluate Brazilian newspaper headlines under the perspective of functional-cognitive Linguistics. How do headlines affect the cognitive process of reality and ideology acquisition? We analyzed headlines published at O Globo and Folha de S. Paulo newspapers, collected between October 6th and October 31st 2014 (from the 2nd round definition to the election results). We evaluate features such as: metaphors and metonymies; strategies of voice changing; choices of (non-)prototypical alignments between grammatical relations, semantic and pragmatic roles; and the relation between such alignments and the representations built by the speeches produced by the politics section of Brazilian newspapers. Preliminary results show how headlines work characters: President Dilma does not have control over the situation, and Aécio is a victim of the circumstances.

Calderón de la Barca es, quizás, el escritor más ideologizado de la literatura española. Concretamente, durante el periodo franquista la figura y la obra de Calderón llegaron a convertirse en emblema del régimen y de los valores nacionalistas y católicos que este defendía, tergiversándose en muchos casos el sentido último de la obra calderoniana. En este trabajo analizamos cómo se produjo este proceso de manipulación propagandística en ámbitos tan diversos como el académico, el editorial o el propiamente teatral y cómo ello ha afectado a la consideración social del legado teatral calderoniano hasta nuestros días. Calderón de la Barca is, maybe, one of the most ideologically manipulated writers in Spanish literature. During Franco’s dictatorship Calderón and his plays were turned into an emblem of the regime and its nationalist and catholic values, to the extent that the ultimate meaning of the playwright’s work was in many ways distorted. This article analyses the procedure of manipulation observed in distinct spheres, such as the academic, publishing or theatrical fields, and intends to give an account of how this manipulation has affected our consideration of Calderón’s theatre until today.

The research paper concerns the phenomenon of ideological manipulation in literary texts translations. Exemplified by the existing translations carried out in the Soviet period the author identifies the strategies used in the translated texts to manipulate the readers. Influenced by the existing political system of that period, ideological influence and censorship in the Soviet Union that was pervasive and strictly enforced, literary text translations into Russian contain numerous evidence of ideological manipulation that was common for any literary work published in the Soviet period Статья посвящена изучению явления идеологической манипуляции в переводах художественных текстов. In this paper, I will argue that Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas exposes the decadence that accompanied the increasing power of a rich minority by commenting on the consequences Thompson sees projected onto his society, namely, his denunciation of the moral decadence that dominates American society. I will also comment on the forces that fought against the dominant decadence during the 1960s, and the counterculture movement that emerged from the subsequent freedom of this fight. Finally, I will mention the reaction of the powerful, who joined efforts to reduce the "excess" of democracy that the Civil Rights Movement brought about, thus, giving place to the death of the American Dream. En aquest treball, argumentaré que la novel·la de Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas exposa la decadència que va acompanyar el poder adquirit per una minoría rica comentant les consequències que Thompson veu projectades en la seva societat, és a dir, la seva denúncia de la decadència moral que domina la societat Americana. També, comentaré sobre les forces que van lluitar contra aquesta decadència en el període dels anys 1960, i la contracultura que va emergir de la llibertat consequent d'aquesta llüita. Finalment, mencionaré la reacció dels poderosos, qui van unir-se per redüir "l'excès" de democracia que va es van aconseguir en el Moviment de Drets Civils, donant pas així, a la mort del Somni Americà.

La historia de un rol y la película documental Iván el Terrible con el Alma de Don Quijote. En la primera parte del ensayo se define el paradigma del Quijote soviético con sus rasgos diferenciales más importantes. Los diarios de Nikolai Cherkásov están presentados como el documento ideológico que en el actor inscribe al personaje cervantino en el modelo artístico soviético y de esta manera impone al público “la interpretación específica” de la novela. En la película documental Nikolai Cherkásov mismo se hace un mito quijotesco que se utiliza para manipular las nostalgias por la URSS. The paper focuses on two examples of Don Quixote myth used to interpret the biography of Nikolai Cherkasov, the famous actor of the Soviet time: his diaries The Fourth Don Quixote and documentary Ivan the Terrible with Soul of Don Quixote. In the first part of the paper the definition of the Soviet Don Quixote is provided. The diaries of the actor are presented as an important ideological document in which Nikolai Cherkasov tries to inscribe Don Quixote in the paradigm of the Soviet artistic model and to impose an ideological pro-Soviet reading of the novel. In the documentary Nikolai Cherkasov himself is made a Don Quixote myth, which is used to manipulate the pro-Soviet nostalgias. Publicado

La violencia fue uno de los usos políticos más reiterados durante los años de la Segunda República. Su instrumentalización por parte de las opciones más conservadoras les permitió articular toda una estrategia contra el sistema establecido, desde la provocación desestabilizadora a la justificación de la Guerra Civil. La manipulación de la realidad tuvo uno de sus puntos de referencia en la amnistía otorgada en febrero de 1936. En Cartagena la medida revistió una especial trascendencia, al encontrarse detenidos en sus centros penitenciarios personajes de indudable relevancia, desde algunos consejeros de la Generalidad Catalana a Fernando Condés.Violence was one of the most repeated political uses during the years of the Second Republic. Its instrumentalization on the part of the most conservative options allowed them to articulate the whole strategy against the established system, from the destabilizing provocation to the justification of the Civil war. The manipulation of reality had one of its points of reference in the amnesty granted in February, 1936. In Cartagena the measure involved a special transcendency, since in its penitentiary centers prominent figures of undoubted relevancy, from some counselors of the Catalan Generality to Fernando Condés were arrested.

RESUMEN: El presente artículo es una reflexión sobre el conversatorio realizado con el traductor y escritor colombiano Pablo Montoya Campuzano. En dicho conversatorio, se le indagó por su formación, sus estrategias de traducción, y su relación con la escritura y la traducción. Para la reflexión se tomaron los planteamientos de André Lefevere, sobre todo los que tienen que ver con la concepción de la traducción como un tipo de reescritura. En cualquier forma en la que se reescriba un texto literario (bien sea desde la misma elección, traducción o edición), existen dos tipos de manipulación, que son la ideológica y la formal. A la luz entonces de estos conceptos, se analiza lo dicho por Pablo Montoya, teniendo como telón de fondo su concepción de la traducción como una posibilidad de formación para la escritura. ABSTRACT: This article is a reflection on an interview with Colombian translator and writer Pablo Montoya Campuzano. Montoya was asked about his training as a translator, his translation strategies and his relationship with both writing and translation. In the reflection on Montoya’s views, André Lefevere’s theories were considered, particularly his conception of translation as a form of rewriting. According to Lefevere, in any form in which a literary text is rewritten—whether by choosing it for translation, translating it, or editing it—, there are two types of manipulation at play: ideological and formal manipulation. In light of these two concepts, Pablo Montoya’s views are analyzed, taking into account his conception of translation as a writing exercise.

Este trabajo, basado en la manipulación de los elementos ideológicos, se centra en el estudio de las ocho traducciones al castellano de las novelas Farewell, my Lovely (Raymond Chandler, 1940) y de The Maltese Falcon (Dashiell Hammett, 1930) realizadas en España desde 1933 hasta 2001. Dicho análisis nos permitirá efectuar un amplio recorrido de siete décadas por la historia de España, desde la II República hasta el régimen democrático actual pasando por la dictadura franquista. Este vaivén en el tratamiento de los elementos ideológicos potencialmente conflictivos nos servirá para demostrar dos características centrales de esta actividad: 1) que la traducción es una actividad compleja e históricamente determinada que tiende claramente a ajustarse a las poéticas y tablas de valores vigentes en una sociedad dada, ofreciendo soluciones netamente distintas a los mismos problemas de traducción a partir de las necesidades vigentes en la sociedad de recepción; y 2) que al mismo tiempo y de manera aparentemente paradójica, presenta un claro grado de vacilación en los aspectos menos reglados o ideológicamente menos conflictivos, campo donde la idiosincrasia del traductor adquiere una importancia capital. La traducción aparece así como un proceso histórico e individualmente determinado, así como capaz de introducir tanto elementos de moderación como de intensificación ideológica. This paper focuses on the manipulation of ideological issues and draws its data from a corpus made up of the eight Spanish translations (1933-2001) of the novels Farewell, my Lovely (Raymond Chandler, 1940) and The Maltese Falcon (Dashiell Hammett, 1930). This analysis will allow us to cover seven decades in the history of Spain, from the Second Republic (1931-1936) to the current democracy, including Francisco Franco’s dictatorship (1939-1975) and the transition to democracy (1975-1982). These ups and downs in the treatment of controversial ideological issues suggest that translation, far from acting by means of axiomatic and ahistorical rules, is a complex activity which clearly tends to conform to contemporary poetics and ideological values (whether out of conviction or imposition) in a given society, providing very different solutions to the same problems of translation. These solutions depend on the needs in force in each historical moment of the receiving society and present a clear degree of indeterminacy in less regulated issues, where the translator’s idiosyncrasy plays a crucial role. Translation is thus shown as a socio-historically and individually determined process, both capable of mitigating what is felt as excessive and of intensifying what is felt as too bland.

Globalization is not only living in the McLuhan (1993) global village, but involves negative aspects for the culture of «developing countries», because they are put under impositions in the economic, social, cultural, political, and ideological orders by the nations that lead this new way of being and being in the world (Martin Barbero, 2001). Venezuelan gastronomy does not escape to such influence, which is approached in this work with the objective of describing the discourse of the ideological manipulation carried out by globalization/mcdonaldization, through the fast food advertised by the mass-media. The Lotman Semiotics of the culture (1996, 1998, 1999) perspective was used for this analysis, to scan the advertising about the chains of fast food store broadcasted by the mass-media. Results reveal the establishment of a new cultural pattern of consumption focused in the so called junk food which is sold by the diverse chains of fast food store that work in Venezuela. Besides to threaten of bringing to Venezuela the obesity problem from the powerful nations with long tradition in this type of food (and way life), preliminary conclusions demonstrate the ideological manipulation undertaken by globalization with hegemonic purposes. This was very well coined in the expression «the mcdonaldization of society» (Ritzer, 1993, 2006; Andacht, 2005) as an evidence of the current symbolic violence presents in the world (Bordelois, 2004; Bourdieu, 2005; Tarasti, 2006; Finol, 2006). La globalización no es sólo vivir en la aldea global de McLuhan (1993). También involucra aspectos negativos para la cultura de los países «en vías de desarrollo», al verse sometidos a imposiciones en los órdenes económico, social, cultural, político, ideológico, etc., por parte de las naciones que lideran ese nuevo modo de ser y estar en el mundo (Martín Barbero, 2001). A tal influencia no escapa la gastronomía venezolana, lo cual aborda este trabajo con el objetivo de describir el discurso de la manipulación ideológica llevada a cabo por la globalización/mcdonaldización, a través de la comida rápida publicitada por los medios. Dicho análisis se ha basado en la semiótica de la cultura de Lotman (1996, 1998, 1999), para escudriñar la publicidad sobre las cadenas de fast food transmitida por los mass-media. Los resultados revelan el establecimiento de un nuevo patrón cultural de consumo centrado en la comida chatarra, expendida por las diversas cadenas de fast food que se han sembrado en toda Venezuela. Entre las conclusiones preliminares se tiene que este hecho, además de amenazar con «importar» al país el problema de la obesidad que viven las potencias con larga tradición en este tipo de comida (y estilo de vida), evidencia la manipulación ideológica emprendida por la globalización con fines hegemónicos y que fue muy bien acuñada en la expresión «la mcdonaldización de la sociedad» (Ritzer, 1993, 2006; Andacht, 2005) como muestra de la violencia simbólica que nos agobia hoy día (Bordelois, 2004; Bourdieu, 2005; Tarasti, 2006; Finol, 2006).
