Objective: Apelin and visfatin are adipokines secreted from adipose tissue that play important roles in regulating blood pressure. Therefore, the current study aimed to investigate the effects of candesartan versus enalapril on apelin, visfatin, and lipid profiles in hypertensive patients. Methods: In this case-control study, 120 participants were enrolled in four groups; Healthy people, newly diagnosed hypertensive patients, and enalapril- and candesartan-treated patients. Results: Serum apelin levels were significantly lower and visfatin levels were significantly higher in newly diagnosed hypertensive patients compared with the control group (p=0.0015, p=0.0175 respectively). Moreover, apelin levels were higher and visfatin levels were lower in the candesartan-treated patients compared with the newly diagnosed group (p=0.0487, p<0.0001 respectively). Interestingly, apelin levels were non-significantly higher and visfatin levels were significantly lower in enalapril- treated patients compared with the newly diagnosed group (p<0.0001). Conclusions: Lower apelin and higher visfatin levels are associated with newly diagnosed patients with hypertension. Interestingly, the findings suggest that ACE inhibition and angiotensin receptor blockade by enalapril and candesartan, respectively, positively regulate apelin and visfatin levels in hypertension. Amaç: Çalışma hipertansiyon hastalarının akılcı ilaç kullanımı düzeylerinin ve etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı.Yöntemler: Kesitsel tipte olan bu çalışma 10 Kasım ve 30 Aralık 2023 tarihleri arasında Türkiye’nin Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesinde Bayburt şehrinde yapıldı. Çalışmaya 18 yaş ve üzeri hipertansiyon hastalığı olan 237 kişi dahil edildi. Veriler Hasta Tanıtım Formu ve Akılcı İlaç Kullanımı Ölçeği ile toplandı. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler ve çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi kullanıldı.Bulgular: Hipertansiyon hastalarının yaş ortalaması 57,18±6,94 (min=33, max=65) idi. Katılımcıların Akılcı İlaç Kullanımı Ölçeği puan ortalaması 58,00±3,32 (min=38 ve max=64) olduğu belirlendi. Objective: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between blood pressure, left ventricular (LV) mass, and systolic function in American football (AF) players in Türkiye using deformation imaging and to compare it with conventional echocardiographic methods. Methods: AF players admitted to the Gazi University, Cardiology Unit between January 2021 and May 2023 were included in our study. The players were grouped as linemen or non-linemen according to their field positions. LV mass and ejection fraction (EF) were assessed using blood pressure measurements and conventional methods. Deformation analysis was performed by two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography, and LV torsion and global longitudinal strain values were calculated. Deformation analyses were compared with blood pressure and LV EF. Results: Players in the lineman position had higher blood pressure measurements. Although both groups of players had similar and intact LV EF values, players in the lineman position had significant changes in LV mass, LV global longitudinal strain, and LV torsion in relation to blood pressure measurements. Conclusion: AF players are at risk of hypertension. LV hypertrophy due to hypertension causes systolic dysfunction. Stroke is a serious cerebrovascular disease that can cause disability and death if not treated with appropriate treatment methods at the right time. In ischemic stroke, recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) treatment is effective in motor deficit recovery, especially in the first 4.5 hours. In this case study, rt-PA thrombolytic treatment of patients with motor deficit after acute ischemic stroke aged 58 and 79 years was found to improve the loss of motor function. Aim: Diverticular disease is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders to date, with a notable rising trend in developing countries. However, the proportion of colonic diverticulosis and its associated factors among patients who have undergone colonoscopy remains controversial. This study aimed to determine the local data on the proportion of diverticular disease in the community, its complications, the association of diverticulosis with diabetes mellitus and hypertension, as well as demographic characteristics. Material and Methods: A retrospective review of medical records was performed among patients who had undergone colonoscopy between January and December 2019. Demographic and clinical characteristics, the presence of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and diverticular disease and its complications were examined, and the association of diverticular disease and its complications with demographic and clinical characteristics were analyzed. Results: Out of 221 patients, 12.7% (n=28) of them had diverticular diseases with a slightly predominant right-sided occurrence (42.9%, n=12). There were significant associations with age (p=0.002), ethnicity (p=0.011), and hypertension (p=0.036), but not with gender and diabetes mellitus (p=0.261, and p=0.334, respectively). There was no significant association between hypertension and recurrence of complicated diverticulitis (p=0.741), septic complications (p=0.678), and diverticular bleeding (p=0.243). Diabetes mellitus was significantly associated with diverticular bleeding complications (p=0.001) but not with septic complications (p=0.418) and recurrence of complicated diverticulitis (p=0.629). Conclusion: This study showed almost a similar percentage of diverticulosis compared to previous local studies. Age, ethnicity, and hypertension were associated with the presence of diverticulosis, and diabetes mellitus was associated with diverticular bleeding.

Background: Hypertension is a systemic disease characterized by high blood pressure and an important threat for the population, as it is common and can cause serious complications. Genetic and environmental factors are involved in its development like the recently defined genetic risk factor ARHGAP42 that encodes the Rho GTPase activating protein 42. In this study, the intronic rs604723 (C/T) gene polymorphism of ARHGAP42 was investigated in relation to arterial stiffness. Materials and Methods: Peripheral blood samples, taken from 63 study group subjects with hypertension and 100 healthy subjects as control, were analyzed for the presence of the ARHGAP42 rs604723 gene polymorphism by a real-time PCR method following DNA isolation. Demographic data of the study group subjects were recorded and blood pressure, ambulatory blood pressure and arterial stiffness values were measured. Results: The heterozygous polymorphic CT (-2-fold) and homozygous polymorphic TT (-1.6-fold) genotypes were found to be higher in study group subjects when compared to the control group subjects, whereby the increase of the CT genotype was statistically significant (p = 0.002). Similarly, the frequency of the polymorphic T allele was found to be higher (-1.9-fold) and statistically significant (p = 0.003) in the study group subjects. In addition, the heterozygous polymorphic CT and homozygous polymorphic TT genotypes were determined to be associated with carotid-femoral pulse velocity, which is a measure of arterial stiffness (p = 0.025). Conclusions: In this study, the ARHGAP42 rs604723 (C/T) gene polymorphism was found to be associated with pulse wave speed in subjects with hypertension. It will be of interest, to investigate its association with any specific drug or drugs commonly used in anti-hypertensive therapy. This article examines the connection between medication adherence and e-health literacy in patients with hypertension. The study involved 304 hypertensive patients and used questionnaires to collect data. The results revealed that only 9.5% of patients had high medication adherence, and overall e-health literacy levels were moderate. There was a significant positive correlation between medication adherence and e-health literacy scores. The findings emphasize the importance of technology and digital health resources in healthcare and suggest that promoting the use of e-health applications could improve medication adherence. The article also discusses factors associated with medication adherence and health literacy, such as age, gender, perceived health status, and engagement with health-related resources. It highlights the need for further research to understand health literacy in different societal contexts. Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı hipertansiyon hastalarında tedaviye uyum ve yaşam tarzı değişikliği başarı durumunu ölçmek ve bu durumun kan basıncı kontrolü üzerindeki etkilerini incelemektir. Yöntem: Çalışma, 300 hipertansiyon hastası ile yapıldı. Hastaların boy, kilo, kan basıncı ve bel çevresi ölçümleri, biyokimya ve hemogram sonuçları kaydedildi. Hastalara; tıbbi bilgileri, sosyodemografik özellikleri, yaşam tarzı alışkanlıklarını içeren anket soruları soruldu. Hipertansif Bireylerin Tedaviye Uyum ve Yaşam Değişikliği Başarısını Değerlendirme Ölçeği uygulandı. Bulgular: Hastaların yaş ortalaması 62,41±10,49 yıl idi. Ortanca hipertansiyon süresi 10 yıl saptandı. Katılımcıların %36,7’si üç veya daha fazla antihipertansif ilaç kullanmaktaydı. Katılımcıların %44,7’sinde sistolik kan basıncı ≥140 mmHg, %33’ünde diyastolik kan basıncı ≥90 mmHg olarak ölçüldü. Hastaların %52’si tedaviye rağmen hipertansif olarak bulundu. Vücut kitle indeksine göre hastaların %59,7’si obezdi. Vücut kitle indeksi, kadınlarda 34,14±6,84 kg/m² iken, erkeklerde 30,20±4,76kg/m² idi (p=0,001). Sistolik ve diyastolik kan basıncı yüksek olanlarda vücut kitle indeksi ve bel çevreleri, kan basıncı normal olanlara göre daha yüksekti (p=0,001 ve p=0,001). Hipertansif Bireylerin Tedaviye Uyum ve Yaşam Değişikliği Başarısını Değerlendirme Ölçeğine göre hastaların %81’i uyumluydu. Uyumsuz hastaların %66,7’si, uyumlu hastaların %48,6’sı hipertansifti (p=0,014). Haftada en az 3 gün egzersiz yapan hastalar daha uyumlu bulundu (p=0,007). Uyumlu hasta grubunun obezite oranları daha düşüktü (p=0,047). Sonuç: Çalışmamızda uyum oranı yüksek olarak değerlendirilen hasta grubunun obezite oranı daha düşük saptandı. Aynı grubun kan basıncı kontrollerinin daha iyi olduğu değerlendirildi. Hipertansiyon tedavisinde başarıya ulaşılabilmesi için, hastaların tedaviye uyum ve yaşam tarzı değişikliği konularında eğitilmesi gerekir.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to determine the role of Triglyceride-Glucose Index (TyG) in detecting insulin resistance in hypertension (HT) patients followed up in primary care, especially in centers where blood insulin levels cannot be checked. Methods: This study is cross-sectional. The study was conducted with 458 people aged 18-65 who applied to the internal medicine outpatient clinics of the university hospital between January 2020 and January 2022. 285 of the individuals formed the patient group and 173 constituted the control group. Participants diagnosed with chronic diseases other than hypertension and receiving medical treatment due to insulin resistance were excluded from the study. Sociodemographic characteristics of the individuals, fasting blood sugar, triglyceride (TG), alanine aminotransferase test (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase test (AST), creatinine, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), insulin and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) values and anthropometric measurements were taken from the hospital automation system. Results: The mean age of 285/person HT patients and 173/person control group was 52.82±12.60 and 50.65±13.04, respectively. 60.4% of the HT patient group and 59.5% of the control group were female. In HT patients with a HOMA-IR value of =2.5, the cut-off point for TyG value was found to be =4.78, with a sensitivity of 69.1%, specificity of 74.7%, area under the ROC curve ± standard error under the ROC curve (AUC±SE)= 0.759±0.030 (p<0.001). Univariate regression analysis showed that a 1-unit increase in TyG increased the risk of hypertension 7.21-fold and this increase was statistically significant (p<0.001). Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the TyG index can be used to calculate insulin resistance as a parameter that will affect the prognosis in patients diagnosed with hypertension. Aim: Hypertension is a major cardiovascular risk factor and the most common chronic disease. Being far from the targeted level in diagnosis and treatment has led to frequent questioning of measurement methods. Although out-of-office measurements are gaining prominence, the reliability and clinical effects of office and out-of-office measurement methods are open to question in terms of both usability and correlation. Our aim in this study was to evaluate the correlation of ambulatory, home, and office measurements and their clinical implications in hypertensive patients. Material and Method: We evaluated out-of-office blood pressure measurements of patients who were followed up with a diagnosis of hypertension. Patients who were scheduled to have ambulatory blood pressure measurements were asked to have home measurements five days before this measurement. Oscillometric and auscultatory methods used for office measurements. Home measurements were performed with the patient's own calibrated devices. Ambulatory measurements were performed after five days of home follow-up. Results: The study included 463 patients with a mean age of 49±15 years, 52% of whom were women. The number of patients diagnosed with non-regulated hypertension, based on home (256) and office (220) measurements, was much higher than the number of patients based on daytime (63) and average (87) ambulatory measurements. Among the patients considered regulated according to daytime ambulatory measurements, 157 (71.4%) were evaluated as hypertension according to office blood pressure, and 193 (75.4%) were assessed as non-regulated hypertension according to home blood pressure. When the correlation between blood pressure measurements was analyzed, it was observed that there was a high correlation between home and office blood pressure (r: 0.922, p<0.001) and a low correlation between ambulatory measurements and home and office blood pressure (r: 0.438, r: 0.459, p<0.001). Conclusion: In a significant proportion of patients who were decided to be unregulated while being followed up with a diagnosis of hypertension due to office measurements, it was decided that the follow-up was regulated as a result of ambulatory measurements. Objective: Patient adherence, particularly in the management of chronic diseases, is an often overlooked but crucial aspect that is more important than medication treatment itself. It is also one of the major problems contributing to treatment failures. Our study aims to evaluate the adherence levels of elderly hypertensive individuals residing in the city center of Edirne, as well as the factors influencing adherence levels. Methods: The study sample consists of 421 elderly hypertensive individuals registered with 52 primary healthcare units in the city center of Edirne. Data were collected using a questionnaire comprising 75 questions. The questionnaire included socio-demographic characteristics, factors that may affect patient adherence, and the Adaptation to Chronic Illness Scale consisting of 25 questions. Results: Of the participants, 226 (53.7%) were female and 195 (46.3%) were male. The participants had an average adaptation score of 87.04±9.77, with a minimum score of 62 and a maximum score of 116. Younger elderly individuals had higher adaptation scores. Adaptation scores were lower for widowed individuals, illiterate individuals, and those living alone. Participants who were informed about their illness and treatment, involved their families, and had family support had higher adaptation scores. Conclusions: The adherence levels of the elderly participants in our study were found to be below the expected level. Existing studies in the literature predominantly focus on medication adherence. Conducting studies that specifically target disease adaptation would enable a better understanding of patients and the development of new strategies to improve adherence levels. Centuries of using essential oils in human nutrition and health have given rise to 'Aromatherapy' and the utilization of aromatherapeutics for treating various symptoms and diseases. The medicinal properties of essential oils have also been demonstrated with the advancement of scientific investigations and research. As a result, aromatherapy has become a complementary therapy. Aromatherapy has been used to treat a variety of disorders, particularly anxiety. Cardiovascular diseases have been among the various illnesses for which aromatherapy is utilized. Considering the prevalence of diseases in society, aromatherapy - a complementary treatment system - has been used due to its indirect, if not direct, effects on this system. Research has shown that aromatherapy can help lower blood pressure and support cardiac health by increasing blood flow by dilating blood vessels. Additionally, considering the positive effects of aromatherapy on stress, it is thought that aromatherapy may improve cardiovascular health by reducing stress. For this purpose, Lavandula angustifolia Mill., Rosa damascena Mill., Cananga odorata Lam., Matricaria recutita L., Citrus limon Osbeck essential oils and mixtures of these oils are the most preferred aromatherapeutics. Aromatherapy applications are generally performed in the form of massage, inhalation or steam bath. This study evaluated and compiled randomized clinical studies in the literature. Within the framework of the results obtained, it has been demonstrated again that aromatherapy is complementary to conventional treatment in terms of both physiological and psychological support. Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the blood in the vessels against the vessel walls. If this pressure value is above normal levels, it is known as high blood pressure (HBP) or hypertension (HPT). The diagnosis of this health problem, which negatively affects the quality of life, often causes various damage to organs and can lead to death, is very important. In this study, a method for automatic diagnosis of HPT using ballistocardiography (BCG) signals is proposed. For this, BCG signals are transferred to the time-frequency domain using the continuous wavelet transform filter bank (CWTFB) method. The quality of the conversion has been increased by making some parameter settings in the conversion method used while performing these operations. Then, the obtained images were classified with ResNet18, ResNet50, VGG16 and AlexNet convolutional neural networks and the obtained results were compared. With the proposed method, classification accuracy of 98.92%, 99.34%, 99.22% and 98.07% was obtained for ResNet18, ResNet50, VGG16 and AlexNet architectures, respectively. Objective Pre-eclampsia, a multi-systemic disease that develops during pregnancy, is a pathology that causes at least 42.000 maternal deaths per year. Theories regarding the pathophysiology of pre-eclampsia are mainly based on maternal-fetal (paternal) immune malperfusion, which is thought to be associated with superficial placentation, and the cause of preeclampsia has not yet been fully elucidated. Apelin is a peptide that affects blood pressure regulation and vascular functions, and also has various physiological functions. In this study, plasma apelin-13 levels were studied in normal and development of early-onset pre-eclampsia pregnant women to evaluate whether apelin-13 has a role in the development of early-onset pre-eclampsia. Material and Method In this case-control prospective study, a total of 60 pregnant women who applied to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Service were included in the study. The groups in the project were designed as healthy pregnant control (n: 30) and the development of early-onset pre-eclampsia pregnant (n: 30). The development of early-onset pre-eclampsia group consisted of the development of early-onset preeclampsia pregnant women diagnosed with preeclampsia at the 30th week. Platelet, serum albumin, ALT, AST, urea, creatinine and plasma apelin-13 values were measured from the blood samples taken from the participants at the 30th week. Results Compared to healthy pregnant controls, the decreases in platelet and serum albumin levels, and the increases in ALT, AST, urea, and creatinine parameters in the development of early-onset pre-eclampsia pregnant women were statistically significant (p=0,011; p=0,001; p=0,006; p=0,05; p=0,001; p=0,003; respectively). When the plasma apelin-13 value was compared between healthy and the development of early-onset pre-eclampsia pregnant women, no significant difference was found. Conclusion Apelin-13 has no diagnostic value in the diagnosis of development of early-onset pre-eclampsia developing after the 30th week. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Hypertension is a global public health problem that is the leading cause of preventable death in the world and a disease which can cause many morbidities and mortality if not controlled or treated effectively. In many studies, it has been determined that anxiety and body mass index(BMI) are among the factors affecting hypertension. However, different results have been obtained in many studies in terms of the relationship between anxiety and hypertension. This study was carried out with the aim to evaluate the effect of body mass index and anxiety on blood pressure and the factors affecting blood pressure in patients who applied to outpatient clinic of family medicine at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine.Methods: 403 patients aged between 18- 65 years, who applied to outpatient clinic of family medicine at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine between 01.04.2018 and 01.07.2018, were included in this cross-sectional study. The population of the study was the province where the study was carried out, and the sample size was calculated with a power of 80%. The patients' body mass index and anxiety scores from Beck anxiety scale were calculated and measurements of arterial blood pressure were performed. The relationship between BMI, Beck anxiety scores and blood pressure of patients were investigated.Results: Of the participants, 50.1% were male, 49.9% were female and the average age was 34.11 in years. Of the patients, the mean BMI as 25.52 kg/m², the mean anxiety score as 7.40 and the arterial blood pressures as 117.80/75.54 mmHg were measured. It was found that arterial blood pressure raised significantly as the BMI group increased. While the relationship between the severity of anxiety and systolic blood pressure was significant, its relationship with diastolic blood pressure was not significant. There was a positive correlation between BMI, anxiety score and systolic and diastolic blood pressure.Conclusions: According to the results of this study, it was found that the increase in BMI and Beck anxiety scores may be related with increase in arterial blood pressure. This result showed that common health problems in primary care such as anxiety, obesity and hypertension may be associated with each other, and it can be effectively fought against hypertension and its complications with the perspective of family medicine and biopsychosocial approach.Keywords: Anxiety, Hypertension, Blood Pressure, Obesity, Body Mass Index

Amaç: 2019 aralık ayında başlayan Sars-Cov-2 adı verilen koronavirüs ailesine ait olan koronavirüs nedeniyle mart 2020 ayında tüm dünyada pandemi ilan edildi ve virüsün yol açtığı hastalık Covid-19 olarak anılmaya başlandı. Yaklaşık 176.000.000 kişiyi etkileyen pandemide 12/06/21 tarihi ile 3.500.000 dan fazla insanın vefat ettiği bildirilmiştir. Hipertansiyon tanısı olan hastalarda Covid-19 hastalarında ölüm oranlarının, hastane yatışlarının ve gelişen diğer komorbiditelerin daha fazla olduğu bilinmektedir. CRP, fibrinojen, D-dimer gibi laboratuvar değerlerinin Covid-19 için hastalık ilerleyişini belirlemede önemli olduğu da bilinmektedir. Bu çalışmamızda kliniğimizde Covid-19 nedenli takip edilen hipertansiyon tanısı olan hastaların hastane başvurusu anında bakılan Fibrinojen, Crp, D-dimer gibi Covid-19 için hastalık progresyonu belirteçlerinin hipertansiyonu olmayan hastalara kıyasla farklı olup olmadığı ve hipertansif Covid-19 hastalarında hastalık gidişatını belirlemek için bu parametrelerin kullanımının klinik fayda sağlayıp sağlamadığını belirlemeyi amaçladık Gereç ve Yöntem: İç hastalıkları kliniği servis ve yoğun bakımlarında 15/03/2020 ile 15/01/2021 tarihleri arasında Covid-19 nedenli takip edilen 590 hastanın verileri geriye dönük olarak incelendi. Hastaların yaşı cinsiyeti gibi demografik verileri ile beraber laboratuvar değerleri hastane otomasyon sisteminden tarandı. Veriler SPSS programına kaydedildi ve istatistiksel analizler yapıldı. Hastalar ölüm ve şifa sağlanan hastalar olarak 2 grupta incelendi. Bulgular: Hipertansiyonu olan hastaların ortalama yaşlarına bakıldığında 69,77±17,5 (n:310) iken hipertansiyonu olmayan hastaların yaş ortalaması 61,04±10,6 (n:280) olarak saptandı (p:0,000). Hipertansiyonu olan hastalarda D-dimer düzeylerine bakldığında 1270 (37-20200) n:295 ugFEU/L iken hipertansiyonu olmayan hastalarda 875(4-38800) n:266 (p:0,009) olarak görülmüştür. Fibrinojen düzeyleri ise hipertansif olan hastalarda 434,6±143,9 mg/dl n:279 iken hipertansif olmayan hastalarda 403,6±135,7 mg/dl n:240 (p:0,012) olarak saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Hipertansiyon tanısı olan Covid-19 hastalarında yüksek fibrinojen ve D-dimer düzeyleri kötü prognostik faktör olarak değerlendirilebilir.

Purpose: In this study, the possible effects of CYP2C9 polymorphisms on the clinical response to losartan were investigated in a group of hypertensive patients. Materials and Methods: Seventy-four patients, newly diagnosed to have essential hypertension, and were subsequently prescribed losartan by attending physicians, were prospectively recruited for the study. Blood pressure measurements at the initiation of losartan treatment and six weeks after were completed for all participants. Genetic analysis for CYP2C9 polymorphisms was performed in blood samples collected at baseline. CYP2C9 *2 and *3 variant alleles were genotyped, and polymorphic patients' treatment responses were compared with the patients' who were carrying the wild type genotype. Results: Analysis comparing the wild type genotype and CYP2C9*1*2 genotype revealed a trend toward more systolic blood pressure reduction in favor of wild-type genotype. However, there was no statistically significant difference between these two groups considering the change in diastolic blood pressure levels. Regarding the CYP2C9*1*3 genotype, there were no significant differences in systolic or diastolic blood pressure changes. Conclusion: CYP2C9*1*2 polymorphism affects the systolic blood pressure response to losartan in hypertensive patients, while the CYP2C9*1*3 genotype was not shown in associated with systolic or diastolic blood pressure responses. Background: The aim of this study is to investigate the knowledge and attitudes of hypertension patients in Şanliurfa regarding the use of traditional complementary medicine (TCM) methods. Materials and Methods: This prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted with 258 hypertension patients receiving service from family health centers in Şanlıurfa province between July and December 2021. A questionnaire consisting of 25 questions was developed by the researchers about the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants and their knowledge and attitudes about the use of TCM methods such as phytotherapy, mesotherapy, acupuncture, hypnosis, cupping, music therapy, larva, apitherapy, osteopathy, which are included in the GETAT regulation in Turkey, was administered face-to-face. In addition, the 13-item "Attitude Scale for Using Complementary Therapies" was used. Results: Of the participants, 55.4% (n=143) were female, 44.6% (n=115) were male, and 32.9% (n=85) were aged 60 years and over. 82 participants (31.8%) had hypertension for 10-19 years. 79.8% (n=206) of the participants were using TCM methods for the treatment of hypertension, and the most preferred TCM method was phytotherapy with a rate of 73.6% (n=190). The majority of the participants (65.1%, n=168) stated that they did not know about the situations in which TCM methods should not be used. Conclusions: It was observed that the majority of the participants with hypertension disease preferred TCM methods for treatments, and more than half of them were not aware of the situations in which these methods should not be used. In order for patients to benefit from TCM methods in the most correct way and to prevent possible harm that may arise from misuse, they need information and counseling from reliable sources, especially family physicians, who are the primary caregivers. Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy are among the most common medical complications of pregnancies worldwide. The decision to treat hypertension during pregnancy should be made considering the risks and benefits for both mother and fetus. Although the goal of hypertension treatment is to reduce the maternal risk, the agents chosen should be safe for the fetus. Long-term prognosis, estimated maternal risk, and expected fetal outcomes should be shared with the patient by a multidisciplinary management plan. In this study, the guidelines for the treatment of hypertension during pregnancy, the animal studies involving exposure to the antihypertensive drugs during pregnancy, and human pregnancy reports were examined.
