- Abstract
This article aims to explain how Merleau-Ponty's phenomenological account of embodiment contributes to the theory and practice of physiotherapy. The mechanistic conception of the body, to which physiotherapy usually refers, assumes a universal model of its functioning and interprets its relationship to the environment causally. In fact, however, it does not allow a satisfactory explanation of the efficiency of the therapeutic methods used in practice. In contrast, Merleau-Ponty's concept of motor intentionality points to the fact that the body "understands" the practical meaning of a situation. Bodily understanding is then manifested in particular by the ability to adequately differentiate, adapt or vary motor and postural responses to environmental challenges. This change in the conception of embodiment also has important implications for understanding the therapist-patient relationship and the intervention itself. Physiotherapists should draw more on the fact that they are themselves a body and, on this basis, guide the patient's bodily intentionality towards a more developed understanding of the practical meaning of situations. - Abstract
Stroke is one of the most frequent acute events in neurology and it is associated with severe disability and high mortality. Advances in current diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines reflect the advances in a multidisciplinary approach. Malnutrition or a risk of malnutrition in stroke patients is common and systematic nutrition screening at admission is important. Acute illness and hospitalization can contribute to worsening of nutritional status. Appropriate timing of nutritional support, early capture and rehabilitation of speech and swallowing disorders together with physiotherapy may reduce incidence of complications, improve patient’s clinical outcome, prognosis and quality of life. The presented summary is in agreement with consensus of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism and recommended best practice expert consensus in the Czech Republic. - Abstract
Bolesti zad jsou jednou z nejčastějších příčin, kdy pacienti vyhledávají lékařskou primární i pohotovostní péči. Rizikové faktory s potencionálním vlivem na rozvoj bolesti zad lze obecně rozdělit na faktory individuální (váha, výška, věk, genetická výbava, kouření, celkový zdravotní stav, kondice, fyzická zátěž, anamnéza předchozích bolestí zad), psychosociální (nevhodné vzorce zvládání zátěžových situací, stres, emocionální problémy) a pracovní (nespokojenost v práci, těžká monotónní práce)., Back pain is one of the most common reasons patients seek primary and emergency medical care. Risk factors with a potential influence on the development of back pain can generally be divided into individual factors (weight, height, age, genetic make-up, smoking, general state of health, condition, physical load, history of previous back pain), psychosocial (inappropriate patterns of coping with stressful situations, stress, emotional problems) and work (dissatisfaction at work, hard monotonous work).

In my bachelor thesis I am looking into the possibilities of physiotherapy for heel spurs. Heel spur is a very common and unpleasant complication of everyday life. It is an ossification of the attachment of the plantar fascia to the calcaneus, which is accompanied by inflammation. In the theoretical part I describe the anatomy of the foot, where I mainly deal with the foot arches, the muscles clamping in the foot and the muscle loops. I also discuss heel spurs, for which I am interested in the origin, risk factors, diagnosis and prevention. Finally, I describe a selection of methods that may be effective in the treatment of heel spurs. My research population consisted of three patients diagnosed with heel spurs who I met with for twelve weeks. The research was conducted through the development of case reports which included a history taken, an initial kinesiological analysis, a description of nine therapies and an exit kinesiological analysis. Based on the data collected, a booklet was created with exercises suitable for the treatment of heel spurs. The first aim of my bachelor thesis was to describe the problem of heel spurs and its most common treatments from the available literature sources. The second aim was to find physiotherapy options for heel spurs. The research showed that regular practice of my chosen methods and exercises is beneficial for the treatment of heel spurs. Patients reported that at the end of the research, the pain associated with heel spurs was relieved. Their posture and gait stereotype improved, instability in the foot and hip joint disappeared and the functionality of deep stabilization system of the spine improved. This bachelor thesis can be used as study material for physiotherapy students, as teaching material, but it can also be beneficial for lay people who would like to learn more about heel spurs. The booklet entitled "Exercises suitable for the treatment of heel spurs" was created to help people with heel spurs.

This bachelor thesis focuses on strength training in bodybuilding from the perspective of a physiotherapist, with the aim of providing a useful guide for physiotherapists and bodybuilders for safe and effective strength training. The thesis provides an overview of various aspects of strength training, such as physiological and biomechanical factors, training structure, recovery, and special attention is given to exercise technique, strength training methods, and recommended procedures for minimizing the risk of injury. Another part of this thesis evaluates selected strength exercises and their impact on the health of bodybuilders, as well as the benefits these exercises can bring. In addition, various widely spread myths in the field of strength training are discussed. The main goal of the thesis is to map common mistakes in performing strength exercises, introduce physiotherapy as a prevention of functional disorders and injuries in fitness bodybuilding, and observe changes in muscle imbalances after correcting exercise mistakes. The practical part of the thesis was conducted in the form of qualitative research based on input and output case studies of three subjects, including kinesiological analysis, dynamic spine tests, Trendelenburg test, Adams' forward bend test, examination of selected shortened muscles according to Janda, selected movement stereotypes according to Janda, selected tests from the DNS concept, photographic comparison, and examination on a posturography device. This provided data, which is presented and compared in the Results chapter. Based on the data obtained from the initial examinations of the subjects, a compensatory training unit was developed, which the subjects trained with. The results of the research should serve, among other things, as a presentation of the benefits of cooperation between a physiotherapist and an athlete.

Then the mechanisms of knee injuries are described with their following arthroscopy treatment. The theoretical part ends with the list of possibilities of physiotherapy after knee arthroscopy where specific methods and concepts are explained. The research questions and goals of this thesis follow in next chapter. The first goal is to propose treatment and rehabilitation plan after knee arthroscopy. The second and the main goal is to focus on the problem of knee instability connected with this surgery. The third goal is completed by creating an information brochure with adequate exercises after knee arthroscopy. For my thesis I picked qualitative research. The research group was formed by 3 women between 35 and 58 years which underwent knee arthroscopy surgery. The reseach was done by regular meetings for 2 months. The methods of obtaining data were entrance and output kinesiology analysis. The results are presented in the form of case reports. The case reports contain the progress of therapy, short-term and long-term rehabilitation plan and the summary of all therapies. The final chapter contains evaluation of the research in the form of discussion where I list the strong and weak sides of this research. This thesis can be used in physiotherapy, by the public or patients after knee arthroscopy.

Introduction: Rare rheumatic diseases, such as systemic sclerosis (SSc) and idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM), are severe autoimmune diseases characterized by multiorgan involvement and often significant functional impairment that are chronic and progressive in nature. Severe clinical manifestations of SSc and IIM are often associated with significant deterioration of all aspects of quality of life, including sexual function. Only a low number of studies have addressed sexual health in patients with SSc and IIM, which are limited by small sample size, the use of non-standardized scales, or poor methodological quality. In addition, none of the studies evaluated pelvic floor function and its relationship to sexual function in patients with these diseases. Objectives: The aim of this work was a cross-sectional evaluation of the prevalence and severity of sexual dysfunction and pelvic floor dysfunction in women and men with SSc and IIM compared to sex-/age-matched healthy controls (HC). Furthermore, we aimed to evaluate the association between sexual dysfunction/pelvic floor dysfunction and disease-related features. Finally, our goal within the pilot project was to evaluate the effect of an 8-week physiotherapy program on sexual function in women with SSc and IIM. Methods: This work consists of...

Kristýna Plevová Title of bachelor's thesis: The use of passive correctors for the treatment of hallux valgus in combination with individual physiotherapy The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of hallux valgus deformity. This static deformity of the foreleg affects almost a third of the world's population and is one of the most common causes of foot pain. The deformity disrupts the kinesiology of the foot, increases the risk of falls and generally reduces the quality of life. Treatment using methods of physical therapy mainly includes active exercise and facilitation of the muscles of the foot. Hallux valgus deformity can also be treated with passive correctors. Objectives: The main objective of the bachelor thesis is the treatment of hallux valgus deformity using a combination of passive correctors and individual physiotherapy. A partial goal is to improve the values of the measured parameters - that is, to reduce pain, increase the activity of the intrinsic muscles and reduce the size of the hallux valgus angle. Methods: As part of the practical part, 3 patients with symptomatic hallux valgus deformity were selected according to the criteria and underwent a 30-day physiotherapy intervention. This consisted of 6 individual...

The topic of my bachelor´s thesis deals with principles of physiotherapy for childless women aged 20-40 with functional disorders of the menstrual cycle. The aim of this work is to describe the possibilities of physiotherapy for women with functional disorders of the menstrual cycle and their subsequent practical use, which is described in the kinesiological analyses of individual subjects. This thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with physiology and pathology of the menstrual cycle, the functional anatomy of the pelvic floor and the possibilities of therapy for menstrual disorders. The practical part is devoted to own research, in which three women with functional disorders of the menstrual cycle took part. In the practical part of the research, each subject underwent and initial kinesiology analysis and then an exercise unit was put together, which the participants practiced at home for two months. During this time frame, weekly appointments were scheduled for examination and follow-up therapy; the meetings were concluded by checking the exercises and adding new ones. At the end of the research, and output kinesiology analysis was performed, which was compared with the data obtained during the initial examination. The research can be considered beneficial, as it was possible to observe the positive effects of the therapy in all participants. However, for each woman the therapy had a different effect on solving menstrual problems. The word can serve physiotherapists and women who suffer from functional disorders of the menstrual cycle as a way to solve their problems other than pharmacologically.

This bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of influencing muscle imbalances occurring in hobby horse riders. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to summarize and describe the most common muscle imbalances that occur in horse riders and also to suggest possible influences on these imbalances. These two objectives were achieved in the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis. The third and fourth objectives were to design a suitable exercise unit and also to evaluate its effect. This objective is already related to the practical part of this bachelor thesis, the actual research. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical part and the practical research. The theoretical part summarizes the knowledge about muscle imbalances, the riding seat, its errors and compensatory exercises. The practical part is devoted to the description of the research that was conducted. It also includes the actual exercise unit constructed from the described methods. The research itself was conducted in the form of qualitative research and involved a total of 4 probands. All of these probands signed an informed consent to undertake the research, which is available for inspection by the author of this thesis, as well as the consent of the riding club in which the probands ride. The research begins with a questionnaire and baseline examination to help determine the muscular imbalances that are present in the riders. Based on these examinations, an appropriate exercise unit was then designed and its effect was further monitored. Two exercise units were actually designed. The main exercise unit was designed for home-based exercise, which probands performed at least 4 times a week. The secondary exercise unit was aimed directly at the pre- and post-riding periods. The designed exercise unit consisted of a total of 12 exercises that focused primarily on activating the HSSP, stretching shortened muscles, and strengthening weakened muscles. The research lasted for two months, during which time the probands underwent a total of 4 exercise unit checks. The conclusion of the thesis and the discussion summarises all the findings that have been identified through this undergraduate research. The thesis can be useful as a source of information for all hobby riders and physiotherapists who encounter this issue.
