Amid a global infrastructure boom, there is increasing recognition of the ecological impacts of the extraction and consumption of construction minerals, mainly processed as concrete, including significant and expanding threats to global biodiversity. We investigated how high‐level national and international biodiversity conservation policies address mining threats, with a special focus on construction minerals. We conducted a review and quantified the degree to which threats from mining these minerals are addressed in biodiversity goals and targets under the 2011–2020 and post‐2020 biodiversity strategies, national biodiversity strategies and action plans, and the assessments of the Intergovernmental Science–Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. Mining appeared rarely in national targets but more frequently in national strategies. Yet, in most countries, it was superficially addressed. Coverage of aggregates mining was greater than coverage of limestone mining. We outline 8 key components, tailored for a wide range of actors, to effectively mainstream biodiversity conservation into the extractive, infrastructure, and construction sectors. Actions include improving reporting and monitoring systems, enhancing the evidence base around mining impacts on biodiversity, and modifying the behavior of financial agents and businesses. Contestation among traditional art performances, in the technology and information era, creates complex and diverse challenge to the dance of Reog Bulkiyo. In 1999, the dance had to be stopped following the regeneration and economical problem. Although Reog Bulkiyo has been performed again since 2009, the conditions which makes this dance can be produced is still inexplicable. This article attempts to explain why dance experiencing production and activity stagnation. Pierre Bourdieu’s cultural production theory is used to analyze this problem, while ethnographic qualitative is used as the method. This study found that Reog Bulkiyo dance is in the arena of traditional dance art which has a double-tiered structure. The first structure leads to popular culture, while the second structure leads to art culture. In the first structure, Reog Bulkiyo dance group uses relational capital with relatives, social and Islamic groups to survive in the midst of competition with other popular arts. The dance then gains a relationship with the academy and the state which provides relational, cultural, and symbolic capital in the form of granting intangible cultural heritage status. These two relations give Reog Bulkiyo dance group the opportunity to maintain its cultural production.

Background: The habitat structure, the environmental impact, the market acceptance, the changes in consumers' preferences, and the pandemic urged for innovative solutions in urban last-mile delivery. Parcel lockers are among the most preferred solutions by customers due to their home proximity, time availability, and cost efficiency. Methods: This paper introduces an agent-based model (ABM) and a Monte Carlo simulation program to analyze in detail the activity of parcel locker points. The ABM describes the behavior of the agents (customers, parcels, lockers, delivery agents). The simulation is realized using ARENA 12 software. Two scenarios are created based on the number of daily delivery shifts; for each scenario, 300 simulation experiments with various input data are conducted. Results: Three measures of performance (MOPs) are selected to assess the system activity: the number of daily delivered parcels, the delivery time of an order, and the daily delayed orders. The simulation outputs reveal significant predictors of MOPs and disclose moments when actions need to be taken to increase system capacity or change customer behavior. Conclusions: The versatility of the simulation model in terms of input variables makes it a useful decision support tool for planning by highlighting quantitative assessments, organizing delivery activity, along with influences due to customer behavior changes. The dependence of livestock on grasses as food for sustainability has been established. However, there is limited information on the variation in soil properties on grass and animal abundance at the Kainji Lake National Park (KLNP). Therefore, the impact of soil properties on grassland and Kob were assessed at the Kainji Lake National Park, Nigeria, using an established transect [Gilbert Child (GC), Shehu Shagari (SS), Mamudu Lapai (ML), Hussain Mashi (HM) and Mara Staude (MS)]. The results indicated that variations in soil physical properties were not significantly different. However, Mamodu Lapai (ML) soil had 16.06% higher clay content compared to Hussain Mashi (HM) soils and Mara Staude (MS), and 9.61% compared to Gilbert Child (GC) and Shehu Shagari (SS) soils. Gilbert Child soil had significantly higher soil pH than ML and MS soils. Total organic carbon and total N were lowest in GC, but higher in Na contents. Grass coverage was significantly higher in GC than in MS, while SS, ML, HM, and MS had 9.67, 25.92, 12.96, and 41.97% lower grass coverage, respectively. The cluster size of Kob and the number of Kob sited were significantly higher in GC than in MS, ML, and HM. Grass abundance and Kob activity were higher under sandy soil with high soil pH and Na content but low in TOC and TN. Maintaining grass cover and animal stock at the KLNP requires a proper grazing management strategy that ensures continual maintenance of soil quality for sustainability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

La región del norte Integrado del departamento de Santa Cruz, Bolivia, se constituye una zona agroindustrial importante para la producción y transformación de la caña de azúcar en derivados de alcohol, azúcar y etanol; donde, la superficie destinada a la producción de este cultivo se encuentra en plena expansión geográfica. Por consiguiente, el objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la clase textural de los suelos con fines de producción intensiva y de futura expansión, siendo los municipios de mayor interés Portachuelo, Montero, Warnes, Saavedra, Mineros, Fernández Alonso, Colpa Bélgica y San Pedro. La clasificación de la textura del suelo se basó en los lineamientos del Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos (USDA) y la confección del mapa de textura se realizó mediante el modelo geoestadístico de Kriging ordinaria. En el área de estudio se recolectaron 459 muestras de suelo, mismas que permitieron la clasificación en nueve clases texturales, de las 12 establecidas por USDA, de las cuales, 3% perteneció a los tipo de suelos ligeros (arena, franco arenoso), 77% a suelos medios (franco arenoso, franco, franco limoso y limo) y 20% a suelos pesados (franco arcilloso arcillo, franco arcilloso, franco arcilloso limoso, arcillo arenoso, arcillo limoso y arcilloso), identificado según el soporte bibliográfico, los suelos de textura media son los más aptos para el cultivo de la caña de azúcar. En consecuencia, en el área geográfica estudiada predominan los suelos con dichas condiciones texturales (franco arenoso = 115, franco arenoso = 86 y franco limoso = 153) ocupando un área geográfica mayor que los municipios en cuestión.

This paper examines the intersection of fiction studies and urban studies through the prism of salient points identified in a systematic literature review of French-language research on the subject. The dynamics of exchanges between disciplines are thus explored, taking into account the delicate balance between content and form of series when analyzing representations of territories. The attribution of the quality of “character” to these landscapes, often cities, is questioned in favor of the notion of “arena”, which perhaps better reflects the configuring dimension of spaces upon the progression of the narrative. The article concludes by mentioning the opportunities offered by spatial approaches to serial narration; from a situated, partial point of view, it intends to contribute to the debate on the analysis of space in television series.

In this modern era, simulation software such as Arena has become a valuable tool for designing, optimizing, and analyzing the flow of supply chains efficiently. The aim of this research is to describe and analyze the flow of waste supply chains using Arena software. The second objective is to analyze the behavior of the people of Semarang city regarding organic waste processing using a macroergonomics approach. This study employs a simulation approach by utilizing Arena software to model the flow of waste supply chains from collection, sorting, processing, to final disposal stages. Using Arena software, simulation results can be measured and objectively analyzed, serving as a basis for identifying improvements and enhancements in the waste supply chain. To manage organic waste in an area it is necessary to involve cognitive, psychological, organizational and environmental aspects. The strategy for managing organic waste in urban areas such as the Semarang area is to manage and ensure that organic waste has added value and sales value.

Este artigo examina os desdobramentos das eleições de 1974 no Rio Grande do Sul, ocasião em que o partido MDB alcançou expressiva vitória em cerca de dois terços dos municípios gaúchos. Essa vitória suscita a investigação se esse evento indicaria uma mudança duradoura nas preferências eleitorais, desafiando a estrutura bipartidária tradicional desde 1950. Dessa forma, o problema que guia esta pesquisa é compreender se a eleição de 1974 representaria o fim deste bipartidarismo e o início do domínio hegemônico do MDB sobre o eleitorado gaúcho, ou se seria explicada como uma resposta conjuntural dentro dos limites de elasticidade da estrutura bipartidista. Para isso, são enquadrados os resultados eleitorais de 1974 dentro da sequência eleitoral formada pelas eleições de 1966, 1970 e 1974, categorizando os municípios com base na população urbana para compreender as tendências eleitorais em relação a variáveis sociológicas relevantes. As conclusões preliminares apontam que o crescimento significativo do eleitorado entre 1966 e 1974 e a tendência para a sua crescente urbanização beneficiaram eleitoralmente o MDB, assim como a sustentação do bipartidarismo no Rio Grande do Sul parece estar vinculada à habilidade da ARENA em conduzir campanhas que não só mobilizem sua base eleitoral leal, mas também o capacitem a ser atrativo e competitivo para o grupo de eleitores cujos votos são decisivos nas eleições, uma vez que o contingente não identificado intensamente com um partido parece ter encontrado no MDB o canal mais receptivo para expressar suas opiniões e sentimentos políticos.

Ports are vital global economic hubs that are essential for international trade. The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has posed a significant challenge to ports worldwide, leading to congestion issues. Ships have faced extended waiting times because of heightened health protocols, resulting in increased costs and delayed deliveries. This study utilizes the ARENA simulation tool to analyze the pandemic's adverse impact on ship port times at a selected port. Weekly ship traffic data and port COVID-19 statistics from 2020 were collected. In 2020, prolonged ship operations and health protocol paperwork contributed to longer ship waiting times in queue. Notably, these delays occurred despite consistent labor and working hour management at the selected port. Average wait times surged from 0.157 to 17.33 min, while maximum waits skyrocketed from 0.285 to 74.977 h. This study underscores the importance of addressing pandemic-induced challenges in port operations.

Water exploitation is at the centre of current social and environmental sustainability discourses, one form of which is hydropower. Intense damming of rivers and natural basins occurred in nineteenth and twentieth century Europe (and elsewhere). Following Miller and Power's concept of territorialisation and Foucault's notion of visibility, this study sheds light on the water management arena, read through changes in stakeholder objectives and accountabilities. Its focus is on the 'accounts' of environmental concerns, from post WWII to the new millennium. The analysis focuses on the case of the Santa Giustina dam in Northern Italy, using archival and oral-history approaches. It is shown how an increasing visibility of environmental concerns translated into a higher degree of 'territorialisation' through their itemisation in water quality and quantity parameters. This historical evolution informs policy makers, managers and society in general, about how to address profits and environmental issues regarding current water exploitation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ecuador is one of the main balsa wood marketers, thanks to its subtropical zone which presents optimal geographical and climatic conditions that benefit its development. The balsa, O. pyramidale (Cav. ex Lam.) Urb., is a species native to the American tropics; It is frequently found in disturbed and degraded areas. The objective of this research was to determine the effects of five substrates on the propagation of Ochroma pyramidale (Cav. ex Lam.) Urb. seedlings in the Paján canton, province of Manabí. The research was carried out in the field from September to December 2020 in the Paján canton on the "LA RAQUELITA" Farm owned by Mr. Euclides Plaza, located at Km. 4 via Colimes, between the Geographic Coordinates 80°25'12" of west longitude and 01°34'12" south latitude, an altitude of 200 meters above sea level. The ecological zone is a very dry tropical forest type (bmsT), characterized by an average daily temperature of 25 °C, receives average annual rainfall of 1626 mm, with a pH of 7, relative humidity 86% and 1146.6 hours of sunshine per day. anus. The treatments under study were T1 Black earth 100% (Control), T2 (Black earth 75%, sand 25%), T3 (Black earth 50%, sand 25%, humus 25%), T4 (Black earth, 33%, sand 33%, humus 33%) and T5 (black earth 50%, humus 50%), the results indicate that the substrate made up of black earth 50%, humus 50% allows for better results in the propagation of Ochroma pyramidale (Cav. ex Lam.) ÖZ: Bu çalışmada, plastik bazlı endüstriyel tüketim malzemelerinin imalatını gerçekleştiren bir işletmenin mevcut tesis yerleşim düzeninin yeniden tasarlanması suretiyle, işletmede üretilen 4 farklı ürünün üretilmesi sürecinde, streç film üretiminde oluşan toplam taşıma mesafesinin azaltılması ve buna bağlı olarak da taşıma sürelerinin iyileştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda; çalışmanın birinci bölümü olan Giriş başlığında tesis yerleşim tasarımı kavramı hakkında genel bilgilere yer verilmiş, konuya ilişkin literatürde yer alan muhtelif çalışmalar izah edilmiş ve akabinde tesisin mevcut yerleşim planı aktarılmıştır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde işletmede üretilen streç film ürününün iş akış şemasına yer verilerek her bir iş istasyonu arasında oluşan taşıma mesafeleri ve taşıma süreleri sunulmuştur. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde işletmenin mevcut tesis yerleşim düzeninin ARENA programı ile simülasyonu izah edilmiştir. Çalışmanın dördüncü bölümünde, işletmenin mevcut tesis yerleşimine alternatif olarak deneme-yanılma yöntemi aracılığıyla 3 farklı senaryo oluşturulmuş, bu senaryolara göre oluşan taşıma mesafeleri ve simüle edilmiş taşıma süreleri bağlamında en fazla iyileştirmenin sağlandığı alternatif çözüm tespit edilmiştir. In the second part of the study, the workflow chart of the stretch film product produced in the enterprise is included and the transportation distances and transportation times between each workstation are presented. In the third part of the study, the current facility layout, transportation distances, and transportation times of the enterprise were simulated with the ARENA program. In the fourth part of the study, 3 different scenarios were created through the trial-and-error method as an alternative to the existing facility layout of the enterprise, and the alternative solution that provided the most improvement in terms of transportation distances and simulated transportation times was determined according to these scenarios. In the Conclusion part of the study, the results obtained in the study were examined.

The Samalayuca Dunes (SMD) (Médanos de Samalayuca), Chihuahua, México, are one of México's largest and least studied dune fields, now managed as a Protected Area for their ecological characteristics. We present a morphometric characterization of the dune field based on remote sensing and field studies, to advance under standing of its physical environment. SMD's generally-fine sands originate from shoreline deposits of Paleolake Palomas, transported eastward (downwind) along an aeolian corridor, accumulating primarily as echo dunes upwind of the sierras of Samalayuca and Presidio. A complex wind regime, with northerly and southerly winds complementing regionally-prevailing southwesterlies, modified by topographic effects, shapes the SMD's morphology. The sand sea covers ~139.7 km2, with ~113.8 km2 in the main eastern body and ~25.9 km2 in a northwester n subfield. We describe six major dune for ms: north to south straight-crested dunes, east to west straight-crested dunes, star dunes, vegetated parabolic dunes, relict transverse dunes, and "megastar" (draa) dunes. Mean interdune centroid spacing is 76.5 m. The active dunes, previously described as an "aklé" pattern, are predominantly straight-crested dune sets oriented near-perpendicular to each other with general north-south and east-west crest orientations, 4-5 m high, spaced ~67 m apart for north-south trending crests and ~53 m for east-west trending crests, representing a nearly perpendicular interference pattern in some locations. The active dunes are superimposed in a compound and complex arrangement on relict remnants of much larger north-northwest trending transverse dune ridges fanning out from south to north-northwest, spaced approximately ~1 km apart and ~50 m high. The easternmost dune ridge contains an active set of at least 15 active megastar and reversing dunes up to 120 m tall, increasing in size and complexity from south to north. As a protected area with historical and ecological value, additional geologic investigations should be performed at the SMD, to help conserve this remarkable geologic feature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we explore urban cultural politics and policy-making in Austria through the conceptual lens of the arena. In relation to this, we apply the methodological toolbox of Adele CLARKE's situational analysis. With a focus on the dynamics of cultural political conflicts and negotiation, we analyze urban cultural policies and programming. A particular focus is placed on a city-wide cultural program in the city of Graz. Via interpretive analysis of interviews and situational mappings, we aim to analytically unpack the continuous and contingent processes of cultural political negotiation with conflictual consensus as a sensitizing concept. With this objective, our analytical engagement is situated at the intersection between radical democratic theory, referring mainly to Chantal MOUFFE and Oliver MARCHART on the one hand, and social worlds and arenas theory by Adele CLARKE on the other. We hope to contribute to a theoretically sensitized and empirically informed cultural policy research effort by operationalizing the notion of conflictuality in constellations of cultural political actors and negotiation processes in cultural policy-making. The sports facility amenity theory predicts that when facility sites change, home prices nearer the prior site decline while home prices nearer the new site increase. Using home sales data in the vicinity of two proposed facility sites for the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco, the data are generally supportive of the amenity theory. The study also shows that Euclidean and walking distance can yield dissimilar treatment effect sizes, thus compelling researchers to justify their distance measurement choice. Finally, the data provide weak support that home buyers respond to changes in facility re-designs towards increased public benefits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The participation of Jews in the arena, especially as gladiators, has received relatively little attention. The few articles written on this matter suggest that Jews were both spectators and participants. The present paper relates to all previously suggested indications for the existence of Jewish gladiators and also introduces new ones. Although the possibility that Jewish gladiators were active in the first-fourth centuries CE cannot be ruled out entirely, the evidence remains inconclusive, suggesting that their number was very limited at best. The paper proposes theoretical and methodological principles, conceptual apparatus and substantiation of the prospects of empirical data analysis for the research of the political factors underlying urban development. Based on the theory of urban regimes (С. Stone) and the theory of interactive rituals (R. Collins), the author proposes to use a set of interrelated concepts of “arena”, “interactive ritual”, “mobilization agenda”, “emotional energy”, “urban regime”, “urban ideology” to explain high rates of urban well-being in some cities and its decline in other cities. It is shown that a set of factors influence the main characteristics of the regime and communicative practices both within the elite and between the elite and the citizens, based on different types of power relations (collective or distributive power), which subsequently in various degrees limits the number of participants and topics for discussion in a process of making decision. To test the hypothesis, the article proposes the empirical comparison on the ground of contrasting cases method, and provides the substantiation of choosing diametrically opposed cases of Siberian cities (Novosibirsk and Novokuznetsk). In the late 80s, cities had little chance for growth, development and viability of economy, politics and culture, but the political processes had led to different trajectories of power groups and regimes formation, according to the models of “coordination” and “control”.

The paper refers to the research Trash in the Wild: A Pilot Project Mapping Citizenship Environmental Activism in the Collaborative Study in the Lodz Area. In the study, inhabitants of Lodz (Poland) were invited to participate in data gathering and create a map of unauthorized dumps in their city. The collaborative mapping was intended to localize problematic spots in the city of Lodz, but it also shows civic commitment and the inhabitants’ ecological consciousness level. The authors based on ethnographic data (observations, walk-alongs, interviews, and data obtained from institutions), attempting to develop a situational analysis of the phenomenon of illegal dumps in the city. The analysis reveals how different positions of the City Guard, Municipal Economy Department, waste disposal companies, journalists, environmental activists, researchers, and citizens participating in the project vary their standpoints and views on the studied problem. Presenting the context and first results of the research, the authors refer to the issue of building relationships with researched subjects during the investigation process. Trying to navigate between them, researchers strive to introduce their different, sometimes contradictory, viewpoints into the research, not losing their commitment and the valuable data they can submit. The analysis shows that the issue of illegal dumps lies at the intersection of many discourses and involves numerous social worlds, organizations, and entities. La playa Rancho Luna, ubicada en la costa centro-sur de la isla de Cuba, muestra evidentes signos de erosión. Este trabajo analiza los resultados de mediciones de perfiles topográficos perpendiculares a la línea de costa y su comparación para intervalos de diez y once años. Los objetivos son determinar la magnitud de la erosión y variación de la línea de costa durante este tiempo, así como esclarecer el comportamiento espacial y estacional de la playa. Se levantaron seis perfiles en la playa durante las primeras mediciones en 2003-2004 que luego volvieron aser medidos en 2013-2014. Los perfiles se comparan y se calculan las pérdidas o ganancias de arena y el movimiento de la línea de costa. Como resultado se obtuvo que existe erosión y retroceso significativos en la línea de costa de la playa. La pérdida total de arena en estos diezu once años es entre 9300 y 13000 m3. La tasa anual de pérdida de arena fluctúa entre 853 y 1300 m3 por año mientras el retroceso promedio para toda la playa fluctúa entre 0,54 y 0,8 m por año. Se obtiene una diferencia entre estaciones en cuanto a la magnitud de la erosión y elretroceso. Ambos fenómenos se comportan de forma espacialmente irregular sobre la playa y cambian su distribución espacial según las estaciones.

Los microplásticos son fragmentos plásticos de un tamaño menor a 5 mm de diámetro que actualmente son considerados contaminantes emergentes. Ante la falta de información relacionada con MPs en la zona, la presente investigación tuvo la finalidad de evaluar la abundancia y características de MPs en las playas Las Comadres, El Estero y El Uverito, distrito de Las Tablas, provincia de Los Santos. Las muestras fueron colectadas en los meses de agosto y octubre de 2022, en un transecto de 100 metros paralelos a la línea pleamar y tomando cinco muestras de arena en cada muestreo. Los MPs se contabilizaron y se clasificaron por forma y color. La abundancia se expresó en ítems/m2 y fue de 34,4, 37,2 y 9,2 ítems/m2 para Las Comadres, El Estero y El Uverito, respectivamente, encontrándose diferencias significativas entre El Uverito y el resto de las playas (p= 0,001). Goma espumosa, fragmentos y láminas fueron las formas predominantes de MPs encontrados en las playas, mientras que los MPs de color blanco fueron los más abundantes. Los resultados obtenidos evidencian contaminación por MPs en las playas del distrito de Las Tablas, lo que crea una línea base de conocimientos que ofrece información importante para que los responsables en la toma de decisiones y público en general implementen alternativas para lograr una gestión integral de desechos sólidos, en especial los de origen plástico.

In this paper, we explore urban cultural politics and policy-making in Austria through the conceptual lens of the arena. In relation to this, we apply the methodological toolbox of Adele CLARKE's situational analysis. With a focus on the dynamics of cultural political conflicts and negotiation, we analyze urban cultural policies and programming. A particular focus is placed on a city-wide cultural program in the city of Graz. Via interpretive analysis of interviews and situational mappings, we aim to analytically unpack the continuous and contingent processes of cultural political negotiation with conflictual consensus as a sensitizing concept. With this objective, our analytical engagement is situated at the intersection between radical democratic theory, referring mainly to Chantal MOUFFE and Oliver MARCHART on the one hand, and social worlds and arenas theory by Adele CLARKE on the other. We hope to contribute to a theoretically sensitized and empirically informed cultural policy research effort by operationalizing the notion of conflictuality in constellations of cultural political actors and negotiation processes in cultural policy-making.

The purpose of the research is to expand scientific ideas about the significance of the culture of circus and film directing in the system of humanitarian knowledge. Research methodology. The researcher applied an interdisciplinary approach based on the use of the following general scientific methods: induction, deduction, identification, complex art analysis, and synthesis to define the culture of directing as a universal variety of artistic-aesthetic and creative-production activity. These methods made it possible to work out the factual basis of the reproduction of circus productions on the screen and in the arena. The methods of systematization and generalization were used to argue for the originality of circus directing in the context of audiovisual art. The typological approach was applied to examine common artistic principles in the creative search for circus and cinema art directors. The scientific novelty of the research lies in defining the culture of the directing profession as a universal type of artistic activity; identifying and an in-depth analysis of the factors influencing the artistic and aesthetic potential of adapting a circus performance on the screen; revealing specific canons for building film and television films based on circus creativity; clarifying the mutual influence of circus and screen arts in the development of directing culture; expanding scientific knowledge about the place and role of screen and circus directing in the system of humanitarian expertise at the present stage of social development; defining directing as a universal multi-vector type of artistic and aesthetic, creative and production, moral and ethical, educational activity. Conclusions. The researcher substantiates that the creativity of film and television directors develops and expands knowledge about circus art, and gives impetus to the development of creativity of directors and circus performers in the screen space. The materials of the scientific article enrich the arsenal of knowledge regarding the specifics of the production and distribution of circus performances by means of screen arts in society and can be applied in educational courses, the creation of educational and methodological literature on the history and practice of the circus, the theory and history of cinema and television, directing, producing.

This paper is entitled "The Role and Function of the Register in the Arena of Sociocultural Practices". This theme was raised because in the arena of sociocultural communication practices there is a hidden peculiarity in the form of deception, which is often inconsistent between linguistic aspects and sociocultural behavior. The use of the register as a style of communication rhetoric is built not without reason but contains the motives, intentions, achievements to be achieved. This paper aims to reveal: the form of the register, the role and function of the register, as well as the symbolic meaning of the register in the arena of sociocultural communication practices in the cattle trade. For this reason, a qualitative descriptive method is needed, which attempts to substantially describe aspects of the meaning of the data with in-depth analysis related to the subject matter. In order to arrive at an in-depth interpretation, the following theoretical knowledge is used: sociocultural, sociolinguistic, capitalism, hegemony, hegemonic, and hermeneutic as a strategic method for understanding texts whose meaning must be interpreted. The results of the study indicate: there are forms of oratorical, deliberative, consultative, casual, intimate registers. The function of the register is to act as an instrument of conative and emotive manipulation to influence, weaken, subdue, and restrain hegemonic control or domination. The register has a symbolic meaning of feudalism relations in the form of a phenomenon in the arena of sociocultural communication practices influenced by the discourse on capitalist cultural domination.

The paper refers to the research Trash in the Wild: A Pilot Project Mapping Citizenship Environmental Activism in the Collaborative Study in the Lodz Area. In the study, inhabitants of Lodz (Poland) were invited to participate in data gathering and create a map of unauthorized dumps in their city. The collaborative mapping was intended to localize problematic spots in the city of Lodz, but it also shows civic commitment and the inhabitants' ecological consciousness level. The authors based on ethnographic data (observations, walk-alongs, interviews, and data obtained from institutions), attempting to develop a situational analysis of the phenomenon of illegal dumps in the city. The analysis reveals how different positions of the City Guard, Municipal Economy Department, waste disposal companies, journalists, environmental activists, researchers, and citizens participating in the project vary their standpoints and views on the studied problem. Presenting the context and first results of the research, the authors refer to the issue of building relationships with researched subjects during the investigation process. Trying to navigate between them, researchers strive to introduce their different, sometimes contradictory, viewpoints into the research, not losing their commitment and the valuable data they can submit. The analysis shows that the issue of illegal dumps lies at the intersection of many discourses and involves numerous social worlds, organizations, and entities. Meningkatnya minat masyarakat dalam membuat Kartu Identitas Anak di Kabupaten Garut membuat volume pembuatan menjadi lebih banyak dan berdampak pada lambatnya proses pelayanannya. Hal ini terbukti dimana jumlah pengajuan rata-rata 70 orang per hari menjadi 150 per hari. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dampak dari lambatnya pelayanan yang berakibat penumpukannya masyarakat di area pelayanan. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara dan melakukan identifikasi pelayanan menggunakan SIPOC dengan cara berfikir Lean dan siklus PDCA, kemudian dilakukan simulasi menggunakan Arena. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa proses pengecekan data yang berulang, kartu tercetak lebih dari satu akibat penginputan data yang ganda atau gagal dalam pencetakan, menunggu verfikasi. Adapun proses pengiriman dokumen dari bagian administrasi ke area pengolahan data merupakan salah satu potensi terjadinya penumpukan dokumen karena lokasinya berbeda. Oleh karena itu, untuk meminimasi hal tersebut dilakukan usulan perbaikan dan menghasilkan bahwa proses pelayanan KIA dapat dieliminasi dari 5 aktivitas menjadi menjadi 4 serta petugas pelayanan dari 3 menjadi 2. Pemanfataan petugas menjadi efisien serta melakukan perbaikan layout untuk meminimasi pergerakan dengan memperhatikan proses bekerja dengan menggunakan 5S.

Kober Mie Setan is the restaurant that so famous in various circles from students to the general public range because it has its characteristics that can make people feel curious and want to visit to try the product. Kober Mie Setan Jember Restaurant getting more crowded thus giving an impact on the length of the existing queue. To overcome the problems that occur in a queue, then there is a need for analysis to identify and measure a queue, and optimization is needed to a queue that is less than optimal in service. The purpose of this research was to determine and analyze the queuing system model applied in Kober Mie Setan Jember Restaurant and formulate recommendations for queuing system improvements that can reduce queue length and minimize queuing costs. The method used is a calculation with queuing theory and simulation using ARENA. The data used are the arrival time data, server service time, and queue costs. The results show that the queuing system model in Kober Mie Setan Jember Restaurant in the current condition is Single Channel Multi-Phase. The number of facilities at the cashier is 1 facility with 2 employees and the kitchen facility is 1 facility with 6 employees. Queue discipline used is FIFO (First In First Out). The level of the arrival of customers with Poisson distribution and customer service time with Exponential distribution. Based on the results of several improvement scenarios, the most optimal scenario is by adding 1 cashier facility and 1 kitchen employee. Recommended queue models suitable for cashier facilities are (M/M /2); (FIFO/∞/∞) and kitchen facilities are (M/M/1); (FIFO /∞/∞), with a Multi Channel-Multi Phase queuing system. Costs incurred for the addition of facilities based on selected scenarios are Rp249,833,- per hour which is the most minimal cost.

The number of domestic violence is 50% out of violence against woman cases in Indonesia. This condition is intriguing to analyse. There must be a reason behind rising number of crimes related to inequality of women position in the society. One of the ways that can be used to reflect on this subject is through theatre. It is a work of art that can be used to discuss and inspire a necessary social change or social agenda. Therefore, applying textual analysis method on A Story of Wounds, a play by Jessie Monika, I would like to find the reasons behind that inequality to find the core problem of domestic violence as portrayed in ASoW. I utilize Bourdieu’s capital, habitus and field theory to prove that inequality between the wife and the husband, the deeply rooted patriarchy values create imbalance power that open opportunity for domestic violence toward women.
