We present the first determination of the energy-dependent amplitudes of N⁎ resonances extracted from their decay in KΛ pairs in p+p→pK+Λ reactions. A combined Partial Wave Analysis of seven data samples with exclusively reconstructed p+p→pK+Λ events measured by the COSY-TOF, DISTO, FOPI and HADES Collaborations in fixed target experiments at kinetic energies between 2.14 to 3.5 GeV is used to determine the amplitude of the resonant and non-resonant contributions into the associated strangeness final state. The contribution of seven N⁎ resonances with masses between 1650 MeV/c2 and 1900 MeV/c2 for an excess energy between 0 and 600 MeV has been considered. The Σ–p cusp and final state interactions for the p–Λ channel are also included as coherent contributions in the PWA. The N⁎ contribution is found to be dominant with respect to the phase space emission of the pKΛ+ final state at all energies demonstrating the important role played by both N⁎ and interference effects in hadron–hadron collisions. A method for absolute measurements of the 225 Ac activity in equilibrium with its progeny was developed. Measurements were performed using the triple-to-double coincidence ratio (TDCR) method in two different TDCR counters. The activity concentration of an 225 Ac solution was determined and the solution was sent to the SIR system for a comparison. The activity of the 177 Lu solution has been measured by means of the CIEMAT/NIST efficiency tracing method. This result has been compared to the previous obtained results received from 4πβ(LS)-γ coincidence and anticoincidence counting. The activities determined with various methods have been found to be consistent. The decay curve of the 177 Lu solution has been followed in the TDCR counter to determine the half-life of this isotope. The half-life has been separately determined for double and triple coincidence events. The L6 chondritic meteorite, HaH-346, fell in Libya. However, neither the exact date of the fall nor the exact size of the original meteoroid or asteroid is known. A specimen of the meteorite, weighing 488 g, was measured using ultra low-background gamma-ray spectrometry in the 225 m deep underground facility HADES. Activation products 22 Na, 26 Al, 60 Co, 57 Co, 54 Mn and 44 Ti were detected. The detection efficiency was determined by 3D scanning the meteorite and introducing this in the computer model of the detector and sample implemented in the MCNP6.2 Monte Carlo code. The activities of 22 Na and 26 Al support the hypothesis that the fall took place on 26 August 2018. Activity measurements of 3 H, 241 Am and 60 Co solutions were performed to compare digital coincidence modules used at PTB and POLATOM for TDCR and 4πβ(LS)-γ coincidence counting. The activities determined with various coincidence modules connected in parallel to the same counter at PTB were found to be consistent. Observed discrepancies caused by differences in the coincidence resolving time did not exceed 0.14%. Application of a new coincidence module using the pulse-mixing method in the 4π(LS)-γ coincidence system with TDCR detector in the beta channel (TDCRG) is presented. The pulse-mixing method extended for the TDCR system with gamma channel was compared with the classical coincidence method where the coincidence resolving time is introduced. The characteristics of the resolving and dead time of the above two methods were investigated. The level of accidental coincidences in the system was determined. An international key comparison, identifier CCRI(II)-K2.Ge-68, has been performed. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) served as the pilot laboratory, distributing aliquots of a 68 Ge/ 68 Ga solution. Results for the activity concentration, C A , of 68 Ge at a reference date of 12h00 UTC 14 November 2014 were submitted by 17 laboratories, encompassing many variants of coincidence methods and liquid-scintillation counting methods. The first use of 4π(Cherenkov)β-γ coincidence and anticoincidence methods in an international comparison is reported. One participant reported results by secondary methods only. Two results, both utilizing pure liquid-scintillation methods, were identified as outliers. Evaluation using the Power-Moderated Mean method results in a proposed Comparison Reference Value (CRV) of 621.7(11)kBqg -1 , based on 14 results. The degrees of equivalence and their associated uncertainties are evaluated for each participant. Several participants submitted 3.6mL ampoules to the BIPM to link the comparison to the International Reference System (SIR) which may lead to the evaluation of a Key Comparison Reference Value and associated degrees of equivalence., (Published by Elsevier Ltd.)

The gamma emitting impurities in 99m Tc solution obtained from enriched molybdenum 100 Mo metallic target after its irradiation in a cyclotron were measured using a high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector. The radioactivity range of tested samples of 99m Tc was rather low, in the range from 0.34 to 2.39 MBq, thus creating a challenge to investigate the standard measurement HPGe system for impurity detection and quantification. In the process of 99m Tc separation from irradiated target the AnaLig® Tc-02 resin, Dionex H + and Alumina A columns were used. Fractions of eluates from various steps of separation process were taken and measured for radionuclidic purity. The overall measurement sensitivity of gamma emitters in terms of minimum detectable activity (MDA) was found at the level of 14-70Bq with emission lines in range of 36 - 1836keV resulting in impurity content range of 6.7 × 10 -4 to 3.4 × 10 -3 % for 93 Tc, 93m Tc, 94 Tc, 94m Tc, 95 Tc, 95m Tc, 96 Tc 96 Nb, 97 Nb, 99 Mo contaminants and 9.4 × 10 -3 % for 97m Tc. The usefulness of the chosen measurement conditions and the method applied to testing the potential contaminators was proved by reaching satisfactory results of MDAs less than the criteria of impurity concentration of all nuclides specified in the European Pharmacopoeia., (Copyright © 2017 Elsevier Ltd. The aim of the work was to develop new radioactive standard sources based on epoxy resins. The optimal proportions of the components and the homogeneity of the matrices were determined. The activity of multigamma sources prepared in Marinelli beakers was determined with reference to the National Standard of Radionuclides Activity in Poland. The difference of radionuclides activity values determined using calibrated gamma spectrometer and the activity of standard solutions used are in most cases significantly lower than measurement uncertainty limits. The standardisation of (111)In by 4π(LS)-γ coincidence and anticoincidence counting is presented. Absolute measurements were performed for samples with different concentrations of carrier solution and for different window settings in the gamma channel. The radioactive concentration of the master solution determined on the same reference date was consistent for all measurements performed. The evaluated typical uncertainty was 0.43%. The half-life of (111)In was determined using a time series of measurements performed with an ionisation chamber. A least squares fit of the measured data resulted in a half-life of 2.8067 (34) days consistent with Decay Data Evaluation Project recommended value (0.064% higher than the DDEP value)., (Copyright © 2015 Elsevier Ltd. Radionuclidic purity tests of (18)F radiopharmaceuticals (Na(18)F and fluorodeoxyglucose [(18)F]FDG) and radionuclide composition analysis of irradiated water [(18)O]H2O were performed. The measurements were conducted using a High-Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector and a liquid scintillation counter. Radionuclide identification and activity measurements were performed for samples from different stages of the production process. Most of the impurities were detected on QMA (quaternary methylammonium) anion exchange columns and in liquid wastes. Using liquid scintillation counting, the activity of (3)H resulting from the (18)O[p, (3)H](16)O reaction was determined. It was shown that all of the impurities were efficiently determined and eliminated in the radiopharmaceuticals synthesis process and that the final products meet the requirements set by relevant regulations., (Copyright © 2015 Elsevier Ltd. The Radioisotope Centre POLATOM organized a proficiency test of activity measurements of (90)Y and (89)Sr with nuclear medicine departments in Polish hospitals. Radioactive solutions used in this exercise were standardized by the TDCR method using the measurement systems of the National Standard of Radionuclides Activity in Poland. Results were analysed in compliance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010 (ISO, 2010) by calculating z scores and ζ (zeta) scores. The overall performance of the participants varied significantly. The sources of errors appeared to be the values of the calibration factor used during activity assay and the underestimation of uncertainties by the participants., (© 2013 Published by Elsevier Ltd.)

In 2011 the joint research project Metrology for Radioactive Waste Management (MetroRWM)(1) of the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) started with a total duration of three years. Within this project, new metrological resources for the assessment of radioactive waste, including their calibration with new reference materials traceable to national standards will be developed. The K0 meson production by pi(-) mesons of 1.15 GeV/c momentum on C, Al, Cu, Sn, and Pb nuclear targets was measured with the FOPI spectrometer at the Schwer-Ionen-Synchrotron accelerator of GSI. Inclusive production cross sections and the momentum distributions of K0 mesons are compared to scaled elementary production cross sections and to predictions of theoretical models describing the in-medium production of kaons. The data represent a new reference for those models, which are widely used for interpretation of the strangeness production in heavy-ion collisions. The presented results demonstrate the sensitivity of the kaon production to the reaction amplitudes inside nuclei and point to the existence of a repulsive KN potential of 20+/-5 MeV at normal nuclear matter density.

We present a complete systematics (excitation functions and system-size dependences) of global stopping and side flow for heavy ion reactions in the energy range between 0.09A and 1.93A GeV. For the heaviest system, Au+Au, we observe a plateau of maximal stopping extending from about 0.2A to 0.8A GeV with a fast drop on both sides. The degree of stopping, which is shown to remain significantly below the expectations of a full stopping scenario, is found to be highly correlated to the amount of side flow.
